Might as well delete the text (and keep the picture) cause it's entirely unreadable.
So the plan is to use Everywhere and Nowhere to Deep Strike Alpharius, the Centurion, 3/4 of your Leviathans and Despoilers?
I'll warn you, taking Primarchs in low points games is a little frowned upon and frequently not a lot of fun for either you or your opponent. As cool as Primarchs are, your Primarch should be a special awesome thing you bring with pride, not something you force yourself to bring everywhere.
I'm also not sold on building a list that only works when Alpharius is in the army to begin with. The common trick of using Dynat or Alpharius to give three units Infiltrate has a lot more variations you can build that army in, this only works with Alpharius, maybe double Warmonger and 2 Dread pods...
That's all I have to say really, I'm afraid you've built yourself an army that is such a one trick pony you won't want to play it very often. And if you don't get tired of it, your opponents will.
Just as a heads up - the "Alpharius Deepstrike List" is a pretty familiar shell for Alpha Legion players. It's similar to, say, a "10 GV in a Spartan with Characters" list - the basic core is familiar, but the trappings can be very different.
Danny: 2x20 Despoilers in the DS list is pretty funny. Are the Leviathans a must-have? Might consider dropping them to Contemptors to get the points for a Chaplain in one of those Despoiler squads and some power weapons for the Apoths.
Something else that occurs to me: with those recon teams, something in the drop team with Fear might be fun - actually make those Pinning checks from DS happen!
Sounds like a need to drop a squad of 10 Gal Vorbak with characters ;)
Jokes aside, and I don't really want to derail this topic, but ~1200pts of manglement in a moving box is also something I'd never ever consider below 4000 points or so. The thing with that at least is that you can easily remove the box, split the 10 into 2x5 on foot and it's still perfectly playable.
Take Alpharius out of here and it's not. Unless this is one of a bunch of lists Danny is rotating for use I think it's going to get boring and then you'd need a major redesign to play something different, which requires a bunch of new models and painting. Ofc I don't know what he has in his army case but if this is the one list, I think it is a fair warning?
I have dynat lists Ive used before
I feel like AL is a very one trick pony army
You deepstrike or you infiltrate half your army
"Alpharius Deep Strike Assault" is a pretty popular list style so saying "are you sure you want to play this?" isn't super helpful.
I still think a Chaplain would go great in one (or both) of those squads - that Hatred re-roll will make even WS4 do work
Ive gone for a Champion to get fearless
and Alpharius has fearless
Thinking maybe to add Power Lances and avoid AP2 targets
Leviathans are not a must have but tbh I think contemptors are broken pts for pts
Plan is to deepstrike Alpharius, 2 despoiler squads, 2 leviathans (in the same talon)
Yeah that context is important, kind of negates all the worries I had about the list in general :)
Im not massive into the lore tbh
But a Deepstrike assault kind of is fluffy with Alpharius
And he was at Istvaan
Well then yeah, I do agree Spears or Maces are probably more useful on the Despoilers. And a Fear bubble is never a terrible idea.
Maybe a good chance to try out the Effrit Disruptors? Shutting down Augury Scanners and increasing chances of pinning seems like what they should be good at, if they;re good at anything.
yeh its annoying their shotguns are not pinning though
but it negates Ld by 1
I could swap the Champ for a herald? He gets a fear bubble
I had Herald in the back of my mind, yeah
DSing Despoilers isn't a hardcore optimal play so I think that earns you some leeway there
goofy idea: replace one Despoiler squad with RoT Rampagers and the Herald. You're overpaying a little because Fearless overrides Stubborn but hey, scoring Rampagers
Yup!
actually, do you have a good unit that causes fear and pinning, like a night lords one I can deepstrike?
Deepstrike pinning with Fear (1)
does Fear stack?
@twin hatch
no it doesnt
Back to above memes. Gal Vorbak with a Warpfire Blaster 😬
They are hella pricey lol
But I have some of them printed
I was thinking Gal Vorbak or a terror squad
raptors
drop a levi and keep both despoilers, since raptors come with their own DS
tanks are the IVth's job to deal with lol
I was thinking of dropping a despoiler squad and getting a terror squad with rotor cannons
Iirc terror squads really want LA:Night Lords
LA?
Legiones astartes
yeh we lose the NL Global trait
I've done some thinking, and because this is an Istvaan V event ive gone for Firedrakes
or option 2, is Deepstriking a 5 man terror squad to gain the Fear special rule
my hunch is that a five-model terror squad may not be big enough to get the Fear bubble as big as you need it and will also not do much when it shows up, so between those two options I'd go with the firedrakes
"big fear aura" and "leviathan deep strike" may not be compatable shticks points-wise lol
of course, there's still og plan a of replacing the champion with a herald
But herald needs to deepstrike too
And Alpharius cannot give deepstrike to 4 units only 3
And I don't want a herald to give line to a line unjt
@twin hatch I'd need to give deepstrike to a herald who would cost 95 pts and has a 12" bubble around himself, or buy a stock terror squad for 20 more pts and have 5 models with a 12" fear bubble
plus firedrakes are a pts sink, with the terror squad being much cheaper i can squeeze in another recon squad for more pinning
This might combo well with the Effrit instead of a recon squad
but i feel like its too much anti infantry
and recons are v good jack of all units (infantry/dreads)
