Serious question not trying to trap you or start anything, but what does marketing look like for you? I know they did an ign article and got alot of views on it. I get the heart behind your post in wanting this game to succeed but what are you expecting to see.
Hi Kael, well, I would have liked to see some big streamers play it… Nowadays I think streamers are the best advertisement, and having interesting Twitch drops every week would help too. We old-timers already know the story of how Xaryu boosted this at the time. I see pretty clearly that a simple video on IGN and a Facebook post, to be honest, barely had any impact. Also, TBC is coming out in two weeks, and even if many of us won’t play it, people who play WoW are a key target to attract to this game. Releasing 1.0 without streamers, without a Steam discount, and with no marketing beyond the video or Facebook photo seemed like a really bad move to me.
I can agree with this. It has been mentioned before getting the big streamers to play would be amazing. Not sure what the budget is like but I do know they have a team trying to push things forward. Maybe they are waiting until the bugs are all squashed? It is hard to tell, all we can do is keep playing and hope for the best!
The problem is most of the streamers they want to play it are hardstuck on tbc wo because the views and hype are astronomical, id say launching so close to tbc when a lot of the target audience seems to be WoW/mmo players was an oversight
Yeah, big boosts are nice as well but what we are really after is player retention. Fingers crossed and let’s hope for the best. Remember the team wants this hit it big more than we all do, else they would have called it a day.
I think they go hand in hand in a way you need a lot of eyes on the game and the game has to be in a state to retain them, i think the current steps have helped with retention and new players getting abused, buti still believe the game needs some tutorials to explain important basic mehcanics. I believe Trik said theres a lot of wow streamers like Xaryu and other players like Arrowli who will come back to stream but streamers have to go where the money is and rn that WoW classic
Personally i believe this game should be targeted more to darknsouls crowd especially people who like to invade etc or action rpg crowd as opposed to full blown mmos because the skills tranfer over a lot better
And not in the sense of how they build the game just who they market to and who they want to see the game
True video game marketing now is complicated AF. I know ark tried his hand at pulling some of those players over from dark and darker. It is a frustrating place to be where we want the game to blow up but do not have a hand in the marketing. The only other thing would be to try to spread the word and boost up the creators of this game so they get pushed across more on the web.
Yeah its tough especially when people are locked into a game for years already kinda like a sunk cost fallacy like even tho DaD players cry and hate the game theyve put too many hours to quit and “git good” at something else, but also Eldegarde is 3rd person fast paced arpg and DaD is more methodical i can understand why the crossover would be a little tough even if they are both “fantasy extraction games”
Nobody is going to hype these creators up becuase they are really bad at content creation LOL. they are struggling to keep a player base and they focus on adding in more use less content rather than fixing the core concepts of the game. Its obvious to anyone that knows even the slightest bit about coding that these creators can't code for shit.. They added in Goldbrook to try and help new players which failed.. Now goldbrook is a waste of a map and time. They really should have just added more elite mobs, some bosses and released it as a PvP map that every one can enjoy.. Now they have Mor'thog's lair.. another use less map in the near furute because it requires a group.. Wow.. wonder how many times that map will get played after the first 4 weeks when this game goes back to 50 players.. No one is going to be playing it just like Goldbrook., Waste of time. Waste of money., Waste of game creation space.. Absolute waste of developer energy. They clearly don't have any direction or things that they are actively working to fix.. Like the incredibly low player count making PvP impossible when its not the first few weeks after a fresh reset. 😆
Hi again
I think we’re going to need another round of Twitch drops this weekend to boost the numbers a bit more.👀
Could we add more Twitch Drops so streamers start streaming again?? There are people who watch streams just because they want the drops and stuff. It’s super basic please, wake up already when it comes to marketing.
Waiting 29 seconds to get into a match, a completely empty map, waiting 12 minutes for the Wraith to spawn, killing it and getting two blue drops great high end, no marketing, no PvP, no players, no Twitch drops, just bugs. The devs don’t talk and they mute you if you tag them on Discord ‘Eldeadgarde.’ 25 euros
Worldwide so 50 players each Server? On Friday ! After 1 month release? 40 players per day incoming 😂
