its autorun so I just press middle mouse button once

in a fight you will want fine control over every single frame so that you can avoid unnecessary actions and manage your stamina properly

to choose to run or to sprint in this game is skill expression under stamina management just like sheathing is

intentionally stopping the sprint to regen more stamina while walking is a form of skill expression most players (even experienced ones) don't master yet
