#What's being done about this?

nothing
thats unfortunate
The plan is to polish the game more and add more content before they start marketing the game to new players.
Itās not ready for mass appeal
Smart move. I'd rather them get it right the first go. Don't want another repeat of New World.
By May when the supposed patch is supposed to come the player base will be in the double digits. GG devs.
I get the strategy that chris talked about, but if that was the case... the whole not marketing to ppl at the moment... it would have been cool to just make it free rather than charge us for a game you plan to, at least temporarily, let die.
@stark carbon somewhat true, but it costs money to make games. They have to get funding somehow and i think its better to get it from a potential player base then "investors" that might try to control the direction of the game.
Iād be a lot less worried if the population wasnāt absolutely bleeding out. Two months from patch time and the bottom doesnāt seem to be in sight.
Devs need to figure something out today.
For decades dev companies managed to do this without the scam of early access. Just like any other model on wall street or corporate America or anywhere else profit is concerned. they do this because they get to still make money if they game fails. this is a fail safe to give them house odds early access is a scam. and its not like I dont already know that but just being charged money then told "we have no plans to grow the player base right now" as it dwindles to the low hundreds. Glad I paid money for them to potentially have a future but not to enjoy a thriving game because somehow those are mutually exclusive thats all.
please knock it off with the playercount threads, it's getting really tiresome.
"devs need to figure something out today" no they don't, this is a long process
People wouldnāt be worrying about it if there wasnāt historical evidence that dead player counts is a concern.
The cycle? Marauders? Dungeonborne? All examples where the devs abandoned their game after it failed to maintain an audience. All three happened before each game left early access.
Dungeonborne had a big audience via marketing/siphoning people from Dark and Darker and failed to maintain it; even then I think it could have been saved if they had actually launched season 1 and improved communication as promised. This game hasn't had that initial push to get the big audience rolling yet
I found this game by pure random chance and Iām loving it regardless. Never played D&D nor dungeonborne⦠pretty much my first extraction game. Yall donāt think there arenāt 10s of thousands of other gamers similar to me waiting to be introduced to the genre?? You guys really think only people that have played extraction games in the past will play and be interested in this? I just donāt understand the doomer mindset because the niche group of people that knew about this game arenāt enjoying it lol.
Yall think to highly of yourself and think your impact is greater then it really is. 0 self awareness tbh.
Weird response, I donāt think I have any impact. I just know what happens to games that canāt keep an audience. Not rocket science bud
Weāll see if this mythical sleeping giant appears in mid May with the first content patch or not. Iām not holding my breath
There hasnāt been an audience to be kept besides the niche group of people that knew about this game? Thats the point. Yall think you are the audience lmao.
So losing 80 percent of its original buyers regularly logging in to play is just business as usual? lol
I guess lirik and asmongold streaming it doesnāt matter either, with their niche 120k collective viewers
Asmongold made it clear the game wasnāt finished but that they want it to win. Asmongold streams many games that are still a WIP. His viewers seem to understand to wait until the game is finished unlike the niche group of extraction fanboys that knew about this game without watching a stream.
I hope yall end up being correct. I loved this game and I love this genre and I want to see it succeed. But Iāve been burnt too many times to expect anything else. Few games come back from dipping this low in player numbers. Would love to be wrong.
only DaD can be used here... only fantasy RPG extraction... only one. Shooters will always be more popular. And every other game besides DaD failed for the same reason. Imbalances, exploits... You cant have money exploits in games that orbit around economy.
In fairness its fourth playtest hit 108k concurrent players before any of the drama or marketing ever happened
I was there, it came out of nowhere and exploded
The only similarity it has to legacy is that theyāre extraction games. By this logic Tarkov is the only one with this advantage
They are funded.. Somewhere between 15 and 20million usd
Isn't really an indie studio hehe guess aa would be a better term
funny how "free speech" works... Player count in an early access is an important topic. As this is my post, and I enjoy the game so I am genuinely concerned. You don't get to tell me what to post and what not to.
On the contrary -- free speech means both that you have the right to post your topic and that I have the right to tell you to knock it off.
You can of course keep doing stuff like this if you want, I have no power to stop that. But I think this sort of post is tiresome and bad.
Then don't read it.. Feel "free" to pound salt
They are developing the game and assessing player feedback.
They also stated they would be attending GDC (game dev conference) which is this week, one of the purposes is to pitch to investors who attend this event. Thatās why they solicited reviews, because one of the metrics potential investors use to assess a game is platform reviews, which Legacy is currently lacking on.
6month timer been ticking. Dead game incoming
@modest wigeon š¤”
i think the game needed a bit more time to cook
I left this discord a couple weeks ago after I flamed the devs for charging for this game, said it'll die, too many problems, etc etc. I got ripped apart by the fanboys. Literally 2 weeks later there's an average of 500 players and it's dropping every day. Multiple posts popping up reiterating everything I said. I came back just to bathe in it. Feels good. This game is completely fucked unless they do something wild.
𤣠you have some very strange energy to be doing that
Yea because no one in the history of humanity has ever been curious after being berated to see how those who berated him are reacting now that it's true. It's a dopamine hit. Really not uncommon.
Nah, just kind of child sense of justice when you want to feel right after abusing of bad behaviour so you hope for the worst of other instead of looking how to get better... As I've already said, nothing to lose time with
time to do any devs
@eternal solstice sounds more like we live rent free in your head. Nobody cares about or remembers you lmao
I mean i really don't care what you say or think, I'm just here stating facts. Say whatever
You definitely won't remember me when this discord doesn't exist in the near future because the devs are literally trolling and the discord is filled with diehards
āI donāt care what you say or think but Iām going to keep coming back to see what you say and thinkā š¤”
I've never thought to see a strong meme as this in my life... There's ever something new to see, wowš
Let die ? You can play it š¤ It got a patch almost once every 2 week. Feel pretty alive š¤ Do you need 50 people in greenwood at once ?
Most games you can't even find people to PvP with
If that's not dead, dunno what is
Feels more of a PVE game than anything at this point
And the people you rarely run into will just run for the extraction either way
Unless it's a guy in full blues tryharding
must depend on the server š¤ Even DnD who has alot more player then Legacy still has some server where it's hard to find people
TBH i hope there is a way to make the game playable in offline mode so if it goes under i can still host my own game
@eternal solstice woah 320 people at 10pm on a weekday craaaazy
Nobody acting like we got thousands of people playing
What makes it kinda cringe for me is, everything you think you're feeling about how the game is going, the Dev's are feeling 100x and they have 1000x more perspective than you, so their feelings are also more nuanced. For example, I'm sure all the dev's are well aware that the game is not at a state where the average person trying it out will decide to stick around and continue to play regularly. At the same time, they're the one's who are putting the time, money and effort into actually developing the game. You're writing comments on their discord like you're the CEO or something. Like you've purchased stock in the company.
Never has video game development been more scrutinized than it is now, ultimately that's a good thing, but it's also good to have some perspective for how things used to be (back in the day you got NO input during the development process) and the competition wasn't nearly as feirce either. Either way, it's their money, their game, their baby. They get to say what does what and how it goes. Personally, I feel comforted by the fact that they let threads and comments like this stand because it shows they have a thick skin and aren't afraid to let you guys speak your mind. That way we know nothing is getting pushed to the side, the flood gates are open so to speak.
I'd really like to hear what your particular gripe is with the game. I mean what do you think they could've done to retain more players? My whole thing is turning down mob health and damage by 20% so new players don't get ground up like beef chucks when they hop on for the first time. What's your deal?
We should thanks that guy to do this feed about players online... More usefull and smart of when use words
Holy shit you guys are great
@eternal solstice Iām feeling as negative as you but I wish theyād ban you. You donāt have any interest in actually engaging meaningfully youāre just here dancing on corpses
Get help man
It went from 2,000 to 200 in a week and the lead dev came on and said more or less "we appreciate your concerns about population but we are not concerned and don't plan to do anything about it for the foreseeable future." So I don't know if you play dumb when analyzing someone elses arguments so it makes yours sounds not so dumb, or if ur actually just very dumb.
Which would be fine were it free but you charge money knowing that this is your stance, just feels lame in my opinion and that won't change no matter how much you reply to me and back and forth with your pointless banter.
I mean the thing is right now the population of the game is really making it so it's PVE mode in solos, which isn't fun. Even if i stop playing now, when a wipe comes along and there are more players after they actually advertise or on full release I'm absolutely coming back.
same
saying a game is dead or dieing before full release shows ignorance in the player base, its a shame that a benefit to the players has become the downfall of games, this game is solid, its great, its new and unpolished, people will come
Imagine spending your day hate chatting and clown reacting in a EA game discord š fucking rats š
Its already released lmfao
Early access, also known as alpha access, alpha founding, paid alpha, or game preview, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can purchase and play a game in the various PRE-RELEASE development cycles. "lmfao"
there is alot of coping on this discord channel specifically. Ive made multiple posts about the state of the game only for the players to tell me that its fine. Week after week losing 100's of players then they finally do balance and go ahead and mutilate the other 30% remaining. Fundamentals such as action queue system sticking us into animations, mantling system not being able to climb, Bandage balance changes ignoring the core mechanics of the game and giving counterplay to all classes for different scenarios, its really showed for a lackluster experience overall.
