Those are visual artifacts made by your GPU. Make sure the game is using your GPU if you have an integrated GPU. You can try setting mipmap levels to 0 in video settings but you can look up "lines between blocks minecraft" on Google and you may find a settings fix for it depending on your GPU manufacturer

In response to your question. If your playing a server with friends you would need the same mods besides for client sided mods. They can use ones like Iris without you needing it. Although if its a mod like cobblemon where it adds items. They would need it. That goes with the server as well. You, Players, and the server would need cobblemon. Although you all don't need client sided mods.

You can look through feathers options in that menu or add your own mods.

You just need to ensure all the mods are compatible with each other and the correct version in order to run a server.
