I think this is a known issue, but 1.8.9 optifine+shaders bugs my nametags (as well as block outlines and other things that are drawn in that same style, including from other mods i.e. hitrange)

Nametag text/background go super transparent, and depending on the angle you look at them can turn completely opaque to random colors. I'd prefer not to just disable nametags entirely but that's about where I'm at.

Launching 1.8.9 forge with optifine+shaders does not cause the bug for nametags, but still affects hitrange and enchantments ect. So it has to be something to do with feather, not just optifine-- but it's also probably limited to nametags/the other bugs are the fault of the shader or optifine or the modules (i think the block outlines thing is a bug with that mod from before it was added to feather). I've tried disabling fast rendering, entity culling, the nametags mod, ect. But nothing makes a difference. I suspect that because feather adds its icon, it still modifies nametags somewhere and that the issue is there. IIRC other clients that add icons, even with 1.8.9 optifine+shaders, also do not cause the bug.

I resolved the problem you and I were having.. Do this:

disable IPv6 on your computer:

• Go to Start > Search and click on control panel.
• Open Network and internet, then Network and sharing center.
• Click Change adapter settings.
• Right-click your connection and go to Properties.
• Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)".

Then, please try to reset your network settings:

• Click on Start > Search for command prompt > Right click on it and select "Run as administrator". Copy and paste these commands (you can copy and paste all at once, just press Enter on the last one):

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

After you do all that, restart your computer then connect to minecraft again.
