Common things to know about feather servers:
Feather servers are hosted on your own machine using your hardware, and feather sends it thru a proxy.
Your pc must be on for your feather server to run.
Feather servers' options can usually be changed using the server.properties file in the server folder.
You can find the server folder in %Appdata%\Roaming\.feather\player-server\servers or if you have more than one using the launcher, simply click the gear icon on your server and select "open folder"
Commands sent in the console should not contain a slash.
You can allow mojang authentication to be off by setting "online-mode" to false, this allows people without accounts to join your server and they can use any username.
Plugins or mods that sends extra data such as geyser and voice chat wont work on feather servers.
Forge servers above 1.16 will not work on feather client due to them being .bat and not .jar files.
You cannot have your friend start your server for you unless you give him access to your machine or code a special program that starts it.

Mod related issues & stuff

How do I add optifine for X version?
Feather usually adds optifine/optifabric automatically, if it is not, then most likely optifabric or optifine hasnt released a stable version for that version. For now use optifine alternatives like sodium.

Mod causing feather to just spin the loading icon forever:
See "Crashing when adding mods" below

Mod needs Fabric api/Fabric renderer to be updated/Replace mod 'Fabric renderer/api' witha version X.X.X or later.:
Downgrade mod to an older version, or wait for Brend4n to update it.

Crashes when adding mods:
Feather only supports forge for 1.12 and 1.8.9, for all else use fabric mods.
Optifine is incompatible with a lot of mods, like sodium, try turning it off.
Mod potentially incompatible, some mods are just incompatible with feather or with other mods you already have.

can someone help me out, so recently ive noticed that in 1.20 i get very low fps with optimization mods but without them i get way higher fps

with optimization mods i run at like 200-300fps and with just the vanilla game i get 500-600fps but ofcourse it has alot of lag spikes when it renders chunks

Low fps? Try these:

Turning down your graphical settings, see below for what you are using:
ESC > Options > Video Settings

Global:
Graphics to Fast.
Render Distance to 4-8.
Particles to minimum or none.
Lazy chunk loading to lowest.

**Optifine: **
Try using sodium or other optifine alternatives.

Smooth fps to off.
Fast Render to on (disables shaders).
Fast math to on.
AntiAliasing to off.
Anisotropic Filtering to off.

Sodium:
Max Shadow distance to your render distance or less.
Simulation Distance to your render distance or less.

Other things to do:
Turn off resourcepacks.
Turn off mods.
Close applications.

how exactly have you tested this?

have you used higher than 2gb while fighting 30 players?

and measured that the lag is less?

and done multiple tests to ensure it is not fault of any server side issues?

With 2GB of ram when I go into a fight with 30 players I go from 200 fps to 15 fps

And with another client I put 6GB of ram (and he use it 100%) when I fight go from 200 fps to 140 fps

That's what i did, but it doesn't work. I put my server in fabric 1.19.4 then I chose and moved a mod in fabric also as 1.19.4 in the mods folder but it still doesn't work, did I forget something?

instead of using your servers ip to connect, use localhost, it will directly connect you to your server instead of going through feathers proxies

(other players will have to use the ip, only the person hosting the server can use localhost to connect)

if they were in your mods folder in .minecraft, have a look in the mods.orig folder that is in your minecraft directory, feather automatically moves any mods that are in the mods folder to there on launch

if the mods.orig folder doesnt exist, your mods are most likely gone. They might be in the Recycle Bin but there is a low chance of them being in there. In the future i would suggest using a Multi-MC based launcher if you plan on playing alot of modpacks and stuff, it just makes it easier because you dont have to move mods around. Sorry for any inconviniences this has caused

As far as I am aware, you can't transfer ownerships of servers. You could transfer the files however that does have the posibility of causing furthermore issues.

World files can easily be transfered by just saving them, if you want to send it or upload it to a host for them I suggest making it into a .zip file and them unzipping it.

is there any way to change the port of the minecraft server since I have a script that starts my other minecraft server (sleepingserverstarter) and the port stays open to start the server but feather doesn't recognize that and tries to start the server on 25565

so I have to start the other server to start feather

How do I add optifine for X version?
Feather usually adds optifine/optifabric automatically, if it is not, then most likely optifabric or optifine hasnt released a stable version for that version. For now use optifine alternatives like sodium.

Mod causing feather to just spin the loading icon forever:

Mod needs Fabric api/Fabric renderer to be updated/Replace mod 'Fabric renderer/api' witha version X.X.X or later.:
Downgrade mod to an older version, or wait for Brend4n to update it.
