The maximum number of users in a space is 50 and isn't likely to change any time soon.
If your space was created with the Creator Toolkit, and server instancing is enabled, new instances (servers) of your space will be created for additional users to join.
Chat is shared between all instances, but things like voice and shared screens are not.

I am not aware of any plans, but that is something requested often.
I suspect some serious optimization would need to happen; more than 500 avatars in a single space, is likely to require a lot of processing power.

@placid raft it doesnt really need to be 500 in one instance most of the time just the people on stage and those highlighted by an admin during Q&A are the only ones that need to be visible/hearable to all. So 40 in all instances with 10 reserved to mimic the tagged ppl on the primary instance combined with the ability to hop between non-full intances at will in all platforms would probably solve most of these requests. Altspace had this and it was super cool!

Should be able to invite as many as you want, but only 50 can be in an instance at once. Anything over 50 will find themselves in a new instance.

Server instancing is enabled in Unity, the Spatial Portal window’s Config tab.
By default the number is set to 16, so make sure you increase this if you actually want 50 in an instance.

Hi @placid raft , can you confirm if chat can indeed be shared across different instances? This somewhat implies that users can see list of other users in other instances. So user A can chat with user B despite in different instance? Thank you.
