its something along the lines of the game just thinks every single coin you earned in the run was earned in the hoverboard activation time so you get tons of coin sacks that start pouring in like crazy

Simply unlocking a surfer gives you a good amount of global bonus

Which is important for increasing your rate of scoring

Additionally, maxing all your surfers takes way too much work. It is better to keep all your surfers in an equal level. Plus some stop by around level 14 because by that point the abilities are maxxed, after that all that improves is the multiplier
