but not only is he really hard to use properly because of the crash playstyle but he just does not fit into the subsurf meta at ALL

you generally want to crash as early as possible so you dont happen to be on your board when more charges show up
since anything that extends your board is generally a waste of charge

Sometimes its not possible to avoid an extension because crashing will delete important obstacles (i.e. ones that have powerups on them, or take you higher)
And crashing anyways will, well, delete them

And sometimes it is possible but you have to be very fast and very precise

Most if not all other characters wont worry about extending their board because they're rewarded for riding it, so they actively want to extend it
Which is why I think the crash playstyle is much harder, because now you have to pay a lot more attention to what's coming next and where and when you want/need to crash to make sure you dont lose score

Jake doesnt feel bad to play in all honesty it just feels like ordering a water with no ice yknow

Ab2 is decent but thats just kinda it

Magnet does help sometimes but otherwise doesnt do much because its still the lowest scoring powerup in the game

His ab3 is built more for trials than endless runs so to an extent im ok with it

I do think the free characters they give you are really solid because of this though
Jake for trials
Tricky for money runs
And Fresh for score runs

Every character after that is mostly just about being fun flourishes to your roster rather than about how well they function
Because the core 3 cover all the bases you need them to as a new player
