Nodes are always placed everywhere ofcourse, which makes their spotting abilities incredibly strong. I think it would be better if nodes have spotting removed. This would allow for better stealth gameplay, or even just approaching the alien territory in tanks/light vehicles without getting spotted by one of the 500 nodes that are placed.

I think reducing the spotting they give to about 10m would be good, so you can at least see if a unit walks right over it
Obviously keep the vision radius the same so you know where you're placing buildings though 😅
yea, limiting it to 10m sounds good. you would still have to be mindful not to get to close and go around the nodes
Plus it's good for lore that aliens can sense movement or biological readings nearby their network
I would agree with a 10m spotting radius, although it feels very short tbh
Aliens need base security. Otherwise its so easy to exploit their eco weaknesses. 1 Gunship can wipe out scores of shrimp in less than a minute.
How does this work for air units though?
I understand the benefit for infantry stealth game play, dont get me wrong.
But nodes need to be able to detect air threats or Gunships will BBQ all the shrimp.
All other structures maintain spotting radius, so having a spread out network of spires would probably be enough
As if aliens don't already do that
or simply spreading out some units
Would just prevent noding all over the place for instant total-map vision
