#Can the Fighter get some changes again?

I know it was too strong before, but the previous changes fixed that, however it feels too weak now due to it's low range combined with very low health, which makes it feel like a kamikaze plane

Recommended changes:

  • Buff the health
    It's health is lower than the Gunship which comes in cheaper and at a lower tech level.

  • Remove the pivoting
    It makes the Fighter feel incredibly clunky. Even after playing with it for quite a bit it still feels bad to me

i agree with this add on making a bomb drop just go stright down when moving as its hard to be a hit and run vehicle if you cant hit your bomb drops

The Bomb definitely contributes to the Kamikaze thing. Really difficult to use right, you can get better, but will a casual put in the time? If you do get better at judging bomb travel distance and AOE it's really strong.

Also run out of room to strafe too quick.

Honestly I like the fighter as is, it’s role now is completely different from what it used to be and I think if feels fine to play, the bomb is really good if you know how to use it and in close range it does fantastic dps, it’s just not good at everything anymore which I think it fine.

i dont think we should go back to the old fighter at all (even though i liked how it played it absolutly was broken)

and these changes dont improve damage or anything that would make it too much of a powerhouse unit

Maybe let the bomb be used during sprint but not the guns

So you still have to use skill to aim the bomb but because of the recharge rate you can’t spam it

It's still firing the old impaler weapon, it's projectile speed is low for air to air combat, it can't strafe anymore. It's range is high for an Alien unit which was also the major reason infantry couldn't hit them. Right now dragonflies are only really good at countering Talion, and that's not exactly all that hard.

For the love of God do not mention the Fighter until after we get AI improvements and a Centauri faction

Months of dev time has already been dedicated to that stupid unit. Dont waste more until we get some bigger ticket items done

the idea behind fighter is good, the model fits the game, but I'm pretty sure Dram put a dumb bomb on it because we kept complaining about fighter rockets OP too much lol

I'm pretty sure they'll have reworked it by now, made it smoother to fly and removed the bomb again. we'll see on the big update

for this update? I doubt it, i don't think lock on mechanics will be in this update, too much work given everything else they have been adding. dram has also put too much effort into the fighter in such a short period of time, the fact that its not an wundervaffen anymore is a good reason for dram to ignore it for a hot minute and focus on other units that need work, not to mention the new roster of centauri air units.

For something called fighter, I think it would be really good to just have more manuveeability and better main weapon for shooting aircraft

The reason it isn’t that is because turns out having a total air superiority machine is really really unfun to fight in any situation, so it’s a strike fighter now which is controversial it seems but we should wait until at least the ai update and preferably when centauri is separated from sol until any balance change should be made

I’m pretty sure a few months ago someone asked the devs if the Centauri models were in the works and they said not yet

And I don’t think they’d finish an entire factions worth of models and rigging and work in like 2-3 months

I just looked through drams messages to see if I was missing something and I couldn’t find anything talking about Centauri

A few things

  1. To reiterate nothing has been said about Centauri being “around the corner”
  2. Considering how many people want ai changes and how long the update has been coming they would probably consider the ai update as major
  3. The ai is a bigger overall to the game than the ui gameplay wise and if that was major this definitely is

I’m just saying it seems like a little bit of a stretch (if not just a straight up conspiracy) to say Centauri is soon

Pretty sure the upcoming update will have Both AI and Centauri. They've had Centauri models for a while now, and with a bigger team they can push them faster, but afaik the 2 Human factions will share the lower 1/2 of their tech tree, and even if they didn't I have already suggested they split the current one between both factions with Centauri favoring the "Heavy" light vehicles.

Fighters should really be "boom n zoom", super fast but very weak and big bombs with long reload times. Leave the hover harassment to gunships.

Honestly a cool thing would be to let the fighter use the bomb while boosting
