An alien unit that you can have maximum of "1", it's sole purpose is to place "Nodes"

  • it will place nodes manually if controlled by a player when it's within range of another node
  • it will place a node automatically while moving if its within 95-100% of max range of another node (and only one node in range to prevent auto-spam if circulating around a node)
  • It can't move while creating a node, (optional) has to recover for a bit after placing a node (pulling underground cable back into its butt or something :p)
  • Can be nerfed (if needed) by making it slower to move, or even sensitive to sun (aka can't move during day, remains borrowed until sunset)

This will help Alien commanders focus on gameplay instead of the monotonic task of placing nodes, while still requiring being strategic in node placement.

Technically this should be an easier solution than a node creator tool, the hardest part would be creating the 3d model i assume 😄

more than one unit and the Aliens will be OP, as it will allow the commander to create so many bio caches around the map almost instantly

yeah, but still as a commander i'd rather manage the battlefield than scroll and click for half an hour

most comms can node up to 4-6 node lines, if you limit it to 1 that would be uber slow for the alien commander

imagine you busy building and communicating and maybe controlling some front, and once you're done you have nodes setup to new bio caches

of course more than one unit is also an option if it works and doesn't make aliens op

I would rather you can make several of these but at either the grand or greater cysts and make it fragile

you already have all of the debuff of it being slow, takes time to make a node, recover after making a node etc etc

With the addition of line building nodes the Node making Qol will be so much easier that this Unit won't be neccesary. Having aliens require 500 APMs while humans need only like 50 to do the same thing just isn't feasible.
