It would definitely be more convenient for both Infantry/Bugs and the Commander/Queen
The idea is that players on the ground can click a certain hotkey while looking at a friendly unit to have a certain amount of friendly units follow them or to go to a certain location. This way, the Commander/Queen won't have to do as much micromanaging. An optional addition would be that depending on the class you play as will determine what kinds of Units you can Command, Example: Scout can only command other Scouts, Light Quads and Heavy Quads. For Aliens Only Hunters, Behemoths, Scorpions, Firebugs and one other Alien would have this ability to Command (my personal suggestion is the Defiler) an example would be that Hunters can only Command other Hunters, Horned Crabs and Crabs. There might need to be some tweaks to make all of it work but I'd genuinely like the idea that players on the ground can take command of a small number of units

There will be something this in the future, but the commander will assign units to players instead of players just grabbing whoever

something like this is planned, but it will have limits

so you can spend your own personal resources/credits/currency and get yourself a squad of AI followers

subcommanders are also planned, so essentially more RTS players (if I understand correctly)

but players wont be able to monopolize every unit the Commander/Queen builds cause then they will steal everything and go on their own personal missions/skirmishes, which are likely to end in disaster

we have yet to see how this system would get fully fleshed out, so we will see how it will manifest precisely
