I know its kind of late for this, however I feel that it would be appropriate to switch the names of the fighter and the gunship around. When I think of a fighter I tend to think of the smallest fastest most manuervable aircraft (or simply the most basic aircraft). When I think gunship I think of something larger and more heavily armed. In game I find myself constantly having to remind myself not to get confused.

You know fighters in real life are way bigger than attack helicopters (often called gunships) right?
Yeh, but in fiction they are commonly depicted as otherwise.
If the game goes the full realism route, so be it
but otherwise I think its a reasonable allowance to keep things intutive
Disagree
Man I just disagree with everyone here so hard.
Examples?
Yeah, I've noticed that trend
Mfs just be running they mouths
You are quite the obstinate PITA
Maybe it's you running your mouth at any different points of views and opinions lol, but yeah no name change unless they add helicopters
Amen
Everyone just has the wrong opinions!
Droid gunship vs the vulture Droid.
Halowars 2 the hornet vs the vulture gunship
in avatar both the dragon and the scorpion are referred to as gunships.
(although they don't really even depict fighters in avatar)
IRL it seems according to wikipedia the modern use is either for fixed wing aircraft with side firing guns, or for helicopter gunships.
I think most of those aircraft today like the c130 are still larger than fighters.
although I suppose it's true that a helicopter gunship would be smaller than a fighterplane.
But I still think that fiction from the examples listed has still laid precedent for calling the bigger craft a gunship and the smaller craft either a fighter or something else. I think more debate could be had about even using the modern definition, because the Silica craft are so different from what exists today.
although I think arguments could be made supporting that the names shouldn't be swapped around.
Droid gunship doubbled as a troop transport. As did the Avatar ones. They are based on the Mil Mi-24 Hind a hybrid gunship transport.
The Hind is a pop culture Icon and having a hybrid like it helps movie directors, and game developers save money by combining 2 roles into one. The Hybrid design of the Hind comes at the cost of its abilities in either category, not a large transport capacity, rather slow and heavy for a gunship.
Opinions are like assholes. Everyones got one, doesnt make yours any better then another’s.
Guy only says NO and thinks his opinion is right
If you are going to call everyone else wrong at least make something constructive yourself.
true
This would detract from time I could spend doing thousands of push-ups and leading on super models.
I believe you. Nobody else does but i do.
Lie to us if you must, but don't lie to yourself
