Possibility of a solely FPS gamemode, a few humans are trapped in some sort of station, maybe an orbital station, an abandoned mining plant on Baltarus, either works. Add in alien npcs and players to turn it into a horror game. Humans have to survive with limited ammo, different mechanics, and no lights. Maybe these aliens are different then the normal ones, to make them seem more dangerous and scary, give a better horror element. Kinda like Alien Isolation, what are our thoughts?

Sounds interesting. Would need to see all the mechanics needed for it be made first tho. Might only be seen campaign or workshop release version tho.

#

What might make this particular game mode stand out, other than theme, in relation to similar plays of the same type.

Adjust the prospecting gamemode into that perhaps?

Could be a fun gamemode but maybe we see something like this in the campaign.

just add a nest far off and let the AI bug send in units slowly. or just crabs, and every time it send one more crab

#

in prospecting mode that is.

#

the horror of more and more crabs every wave is horror enough, and knowing the only way out is to ALT f4 and fail....

But the aspect of being stuck in some dark station certainly gives a better horror aspect then being lost in the very vast desert

#

Or maybe being stuck in some alien hive beneath the surface of the desert

Just go play alien isolation.

#

I don’t understand why people want to turn silica into every other game besides silica.

#

Strategy mode should be the near absolute focus of all development, with campaigns and whatever else the dev wants to pursue being secondary.

#

Be honest, you wouldn’t play this game mode more than like 10 times.

#

Because it would just be a half baked version of alien isolation which had an entire team of developers behind it tasked specifically with making a phenomenal alien horror game.

#

Yes it would be cool, but is that what you really want in this game?

Let’s make it alien isolation and planetside 2 and battlezone and Fortnite and uh let’s copy all the Zerg from StarCraft 2 as aliens and

i think of it as expanding opertunites. will all these wacky ideas pan out? no. BUT are least they where put on the board and thought of a lil bit. This is a game all its own. something new with FPS and COmmander RTS/FPS and stired around. why not try and toss in some other ingerdiants and see what happens.

Scope creep (also called requirement creep, or kitchen sink syndrome) in project management refers to changes, continuous or uncontrolled growth in a project’s scope, at any point after the project begins. This can occur when the scope of a project is not properly defined, documented, or controlled. It is generally considered harmful.: 13  It is...

The prospect mode seems like it would fit the bill easy. You could easily do cave prospecting, and with aliens running around on the roof it'd be plenty scary.

What’s the overall game vision exactly

#

Doesn’t that include updating prospecting mode and adding a campaign version?

#

I mean I see no reason why they couldn’t have horror aspects in either of those versions

#

And I’m also curious do you see all general ideas like this one stupid because you don’t see them falling under the games ideal vision lol

#

It seems counter productive

#

If I’m correct I’d say this general ideas forum is suggestions for the devs to possibly add into the game, from small unit bugs to updating entire game modes

#

If the devs didn’t want threads like these as you say they’d just remove the forum

The problem with horror things in games is that most of them don't really work in my opinion. Only thing that makes me scared is when I'm getting stressed out, otherwise? nah.

Things hiding in the dark don't work for me, low ammo don't work either. blood and gore just makes me laugh. I think AAA studios are having hard time doing good horror games already because horror games needs an emotional attachemet.

dead space deffinitly captured a good horror aspect and to replicate somthing like that would take ALOT of time

This can be pasted in half the threads here.

I do gotta admit a whole bunch of players trapped in a base with a crab and no weapons is scary

does everything eventually evolve into a crab?

maybe have like avast tunnel system that can be very cramped for fps players? that crabs can walk all over the walls and cielings ?

I think a horror game mode should be prospector inside and abondoned Bloody Building fighting Bloody crabs by yourself (crabs are Also 1.5X faster) and when they get you they jumpscare you
