So gave the game a try, was great time.
However outside of the (Im guessing) listed changes to the RTS mode, I was wondering if it would be possible/a decent idea to allow human commanders to build MISC structures. Stuff that wouldnt have a clear fuction other then letting say infantry get a view/Have better firing positions.
Some things that this could include is:
Cat walks on structures/Urban buildings joinings them together
Watch towers (No AI defense.. MAYBE a manned turret/MG that has a marked range for the commander to see?)
Pillboxs

And other lil bits that human commanders could either deploy or are on structures the humans produce to let infantry walk up/climb up for positions.

Alien equivalent, such as bee hives?
Spore dispersing structures or a building that produces a web/roots from a core building that gives vision when a human walks on them?
Maybe some thing for the future?

Just trying to put out some ideas, I know the game is super early right now but hot damn I look forward to the future.

Concept of structural paths built by the commander.

Concept of mountable emplacements built by the commander.

Concept of post construction additions to building built by the commander.

Could you reword what you typed for the ailen equivalent, I'm slightly lost on that. Are you meaning something that let's everyone know there's a human present?

Are those close to what your thinking?

And now I'm imaging some kind of brain power mechanic with those structure, human or bug, needing a grunt present to function, on top of the stuff mentioned with the vet Stat for those unit. E putting a vet unit in an emplacement etc

Regarding the catwalks, I could see close proxy buildings having telescopic walkways, but anything longer it would probably interfere with harvester sized entities. I'm also assuming your thinking about the edge of the building's foundation and not the upper portions of the building?

Emplacements are planned

What would the bee hives do?

Crab hives already have turrets?

Well to be honest I had no clue what fetures where shown etc.. still quiet new to the game/trying to catch up with all the changes, ideas etc.
So basicly where I was going was the idea of the commander being able to deploy structures (On both factions) that provide a utility while trying to minimize the structure its self having a unbalanced effect on game play. To what might seem useless on the RTS side could have great implications for the FPS side. Such as say, cat walks. The aliens can climb so walls wouldnt make much sense to a extent. And the game so far seems to have a very industrial feel to it. (until late game) So building elevated walk ways would be a neat idea. Cheap, rag tag structures that connect to each other. And letting this extend to buildings that the humans build/add onto them would be a neat idea. So long as it doesnt affect clipping of course or interfear with harvesters.. A example would be how modern industrial structures have external walk ways etc to allow for access

As for the re wording, what I more or less ment is if better positions for the humans to shoot from is a good thing what could the aliens have that would benefit them?.. While they do have ranged stuff I just was guessing things to assist with spotting/alarm for the commander. Maybe some sort of structure to slow down units in its AOE? Help them with their better mobility while also trying to keep the well alien/more bio weapon feel of it. Kinda harder to imagine so I guess these structures would wanna provide things to assist with either isolating units/spotting and slowing while trying to not be too toxic such as straight up blinding/screen shake to a toxic degree.

But yes, it is a brain power mechanic/team work mechanic. Having some thing that would do very little on its own or give a benifit when combined with team work.
