Will the Kickstarter alien database be viewable by other backers, and can races be grouped?

This is partially a question but also partially a suggestion.

Players are likely to make tens if not hundreds of similar alien race suggestions. Some people will want to see what's out there already before suggesting an alien race themselves. So will there be a way for backers to see what races have already been proposed?

And on top of this (this is half a suggestion). Could groups of similar aliens be given developer determined macro groups that result in them being situated close to one another?

It could go something like 15 people want to make space waifu cat girls, so Dan sees the pattern and makes a Neko / Feline category, he then automatically includes them under this category to inhabit star systems within close proximity to each other and they are assumed to have a common ancestor (even if that ancestor may be long forgotten)

But when categorization occurs it can inform the player and they can opt out if they want their alien race to be a race isolate that can appear anywhere?

Yep, once the web tool is written there will be a browsable list of player-made races, along with a status like "pending", "queued for review", "implemented", etc. We'll also have the system coordinates there so that people can purposefully visit those systems if they want to.

I like the idea of grouping like-races together in the same sector. We can probably do some interesting stuff with that

At the same time players will be able to choose where their system is located. If they want it on the other side of the galaxy, that's fine.

If people specify where they want it then we can just assume it's automatically an isolate origin. But you could still ask them if a macro group is made if they would want to relocate closer

I think the majority of people won't actually care where the system is located. Just that they get to make it
