I'm not sure to fully understand your context here, can you please give a bit more detail or maybe explain it differently?
hold on
Im confused should i make project or what?
In general, for any job/type of companies, doing personal project is the way to go and much more interesting for interviewers than anything else. That and open-source contribution are the best thing you can do outside of having tones of experience.
im aiming for data scientist / ml engineer roles in future
What's the question here?
I really want a mentor who is in fang and can guide me when i get doubt : ) i feel unidirectional sometimes
Sadly, as far as I know, there's no members of our server that works in a fang and even less chances that one is here and would be willing to accept mentee.
However, there's tones of super qualified and experienced engineer in the server and we love offering "mentoring" when we can.
Thanks . I just want to be best man. You know be a supportive person to my family. Be the one who can be good at his work.
I totally get it but you don't have to be at a faang for all that.
I feel lost and really question that I'm wasting my potential
I understand
thanks
i just wanted someone to understand me... i will surely get into better place after 6 months... i will reachout to this place and tell all of you that good news... its a promise... 🤞🏻
Don't worry I completely understand you and it's normal to feel that way. I think what you need to think about is what you really want to get from your work? Is there something you want to do or get from your work? Obviously, beside money. Have you thought about why you got into this field?
Yes Data scientist/ ml engineer with exposure of aws services
studying for the foundational aws certification soon going to take the exam
these 3 domins are interesting for me
So, what thing you can do is start studying this in your freetime, build or contribute to project related to all this and start showcasing them. Once you feel you have enough knowledge you can start applying to jobs in those fields. That said it take time and sometime, switching specializtion can be difficult
Pleasure, I hope it helps
Oh, one last thing. When you start looking for new jobs, don't focus only on faang.
I'm a backend and data engineer and I do not work with C++
I've done a couple of years with ruby and now I mostly work with Python
ohhh got it yeah
interesting
Lots of Python in ds/de
thanks ones again
yeahhh
in my company they are getting into databricks
it's more efficient apparently
pretty much useless
(besides the fact I wouldn't recommend people to work at FAANG anymore these days but whatever)
I'll forward the good questions to my FAANG friends 🤓
Databricks and Python are not two things you would compare typically
they touch completely different parts of the ML stack + model lifetime
Stop flexing haha 💪
Unemployed ✊
ohhh
i know that but i was just telling
why so much hate brother.... we just met
If you want to work on ML engineering
what kind of ML related work have you done
did you get your degree in maths? physics? CS with a focus on ML?
Wdym hate lol I just said I don't think it's worth the tradeoff these days
Yep me neither
i just need that on my bucket
The market is bad and faang employees and the first one to get massively layoff
idk about working in long term
They are also overworked and don't make that much more money than other dev (except maybe the 1% of them)
just for the flex I get it
you make more in other fields if you are part of that top 1%
this if you wanna get into ML at FAANG tho
not flex.... i have thought about startup and even working in them... i understood working in startup is quite interesting and lot of new things we would learn... and the same time i understood how to create a startup ...
While i found out everyone has a basic good mvp which they show infront of angel investors but they don't give until you have a good degree from top college from my country pr worked in top place
i need to make sure the know i have value and im liable
Kind of depends on where you live I guess
yeahhh
Most of the time it's not just about the MVP
if you can show actual traction and a very strong technical team you're good, obviously degrees or previous workplaces can be a proxy for that (and many investors use them as such)
@raven halo
Worked as ai intern (at a top research lab of country)where i used python ollama to implement graph database and made user data retrieve faster by 43%
Computer science degree and i did have aiml as a subject in my final year of college and created a full ai project where it helps to generate research paper from information on internet
currently I'm working in SAP consultant (which isn't smtg makes me feel fascinated)
i have done 2 propee internships in college
Data visualization project inter and ai project intern
yeahhh
no it was in my personal computer
they don't really take my work(any interns work) 😂
they just get us exposure to technology and how to work with them
I mean realistically you'll want to work on ML kind of stuff in your free time
aka build deskboard w/ me
What's wrong with FAANG?
Oh NVM I read other msgs that explained
I’m currently a 2nd-year student, and my goal is to land an entry-level SDE I role at FAANG or a similar top-tier tech company. I’ve started preparing with DSA, LeetCode, and some projects, but I want to make sure I’m focusing my efforts in the right direction. Based on your experience, what kind of opportunities, companies, or learning paths would you recommend for someone at my stage to maximize growth and get closer to that goal?
