Hey Im currently in my last year of high school and have to choose a degree for my future studies. Im torn between a software engineering degree or a mechanical engineering degree. I've been doing coding for around 5 years now and learnt different languages because it was fun for me and I've also done robotics for a while now but Im definitely better at software than I am at mechanical stuff.
I was set on mechanical for a while but I'm afraid it'd be a waste when i could use my years doing coding for software engineering
Can anyone give me advice on what to do and why they chose software or comp sci?

TLDR: Can anyone give me advice on choosing between software and mechanical?

Do what brings you the most joy

If you love what you do, it's never going to be work - I'd say take some time to self reflect and decide on what you think you will enjoy more.

This is a big decision, and it's something only you can make for yourself. Asking random strangers, especially in a community full of software engineers, may lead to a biased answers and push you towards the wrong path.

Instead, I recommend doing some research on both fields. Look into the day-to-day work of each, talk to professionals from both areas, and try to see yourself in those roles. This will give you a better understanding of the work and which one is better for you.

What to do and why they chose software or comp sci?
I can answer that but it's a personal reason meaning you shouldn't base your decision on mine.

I chose software development for several reasons, but what really drew me in was its versatility. Software development frequently intersects with other fields, allowing you to continuously explore different areas and work on various projects.
