#Thesis dilemma

I am into artificial intelligence (AI) and my current thesis is about Study Analysis of the usage of Generative Adversarial Networks on the making of chess engines. So basically my thesis is more to studying and analysing a person's code rather than coding. The problem is I have started doing my thesis since quite the end of last semester (semester 7) and till now (semester 8) and I kept facing difficulties in studying and analysing the code and my thesis progress goes slowly and that's the reason I haven't finished it till now. I ever thought of changing my thesis title but I will have to remake another thesis proposal and repeat thesis proposal presentation again which I am too lazy to do it. But at the same time I am afraid that my thesis will not progress well as I said earlier. FYI, there are 3 majors of Computer Science (CS) in my campus:

  1. Software Technology (Software Engineering)
  2. Internet Technology
  3. Computational Intelligence (AI)
And along my experience studying in my campus I am weakest at AI, but that time my supervisor recommend AI to me cuz he thinks it's the most suitable for me. So for now I am thinking of 3 choices:
  4. Keep doing my current thesis
  5. Change thesis title and still AI major
  6. Change thesis title but change major (not AI)
Anyone have any suggestions on what should I do now?
    Any help will be appreciated

@summer kestrel Thesis is hard, whether you change your major or keep doing current research. You will need to keep at it. Your advisor should be able to guide you. If you are looking for novel approach (innovative idea) try to find some auxiliary articles. For example if there is a GAN implementation for tic-tac-toe or 9-queens problem.

I hope this motivates and helps you!

It’s a multi-faceted problem. I think you should consider your situation from all the angles. How is your advisor ? What is the timeframe of your thesis ? Do you have any options available to switch to? How much work/time is already invested? How much more time would you put in if new topic is chosen? All these questions evaluated and your gut feeling will help you. I or anyone suggesting won’t be fruitful in my honest opinion.
