its more then how they look they are just cool to have because they are rare in the US and the other places they aren't its illegal to own a gun in the first place there is some better looking ones like the 1P78
they also look cool on AKs but don't put like a OKP-7 on a M4 that would be ugly
also I think you need to get a rail adaptor for some Russian optics because some are integral to the mount I think idk for sure
