There is a situation that Plex sometimes uses a thumbnail as a movie poster, then Kometa applies the overlay on it. At the moment, even if I manually change the poster image to the correct one, Kometa will still switch back to the wrong one (that has overlay applied). Is there any way to make Kometa re-apply the overlay on the correct poster picture (after I manually change it)?

Including meta.log from the beginning is a huge help. Type !logs for more information.

If you change the poster in plex behind kometas back, and not remove the overlay label, then Kometa has no way of knowing and will use the backed up / incorrect image.
A couple options you have
- change the image in plex, but remove the overlay label
- set the image using the asset pipeline and then the label doesn’t matter
- set the image using a metadata file within Kometa
So if I would like to keep the correct poster with the overlay label, only #2 and #3 are doable, am I right?
One more note, I do use local media asset in Plex (rather have custom artwork downloaded from ThePosterDB than automatically scraping from TheMovieDB). For example, the movie file name is ABC.mkv, and the artwork file name is ABC-poster.jpg in the same location/folder; with this case, between #2 and #3, which would be my better option?
When Kometa first applies an overlay, it backs up the current art to use as the clean art when the overlay is updated or removed. It applies a label to the item in Plex so it knows that the current art on the item on Plex has overlays and cannot be used.
If you change the art in Plex, remove this label.
On the next run, Kometa will see no label, and will pull the current art from Plex, replace any current backup with that new clean art, update overlays and put the label back on.
You can't use the asset directory option with that naming, so your alternatives are
- remove the "Overlay" label from the item in Plex when you change that image and hope that Plex picks up the new image before the next Kometa run, or
- set the art with a metadata file pointing at that path.
In that second case you will need to map your media directories into the Kometa container.
