#Change Collection Title language?

Hello! Started using Kometa recently, have been able to figure everything out using the wiki, but there is one thing that I cannot figure out.

I created movie collections, changed the TMDB language to "ru" which provided descriptions to all the collection in Russian instead of the default English. But, the titles for the collections are still in English, even after deleting the collections and building them up again.

I tried searching the wiki and the internet but cannot find anything on how to change the language of the titles. I checked TMDB and they have all the collections in various languages. What am I doing wrong or missing?

Thank you 🙏🏻

What do you have so far?

There is no generic "translate everything that Kometa creates" setting.

#

titles for the collections

Which collections are you referring to?

I created movie collections based on "franchise" attribute. So for example, it created a franchise collection titled "Harry Potter" but I would like Kometa to pull the Russian name of this collection from TMDB "Гарри Поттер".

TMDb doesn't appear to have a Russian translation for that collection anyway

This page shows otherwise

That shows in English for me 😄

If you set TMDB language to Russian

proven badge
#

Oh interesting

#

yeah the title doesn't appear in the Translations page for some reason

#

Kometa doesn't support switching the langauge for the Franchise file

random palm
#

That's unfortunate

#

Where is it grabbing the English title from? Can the config be charged to point Kometa to the Russian page and grab the title from there, or is that something that is beyond the scope of the config?

@random palm where are you setting the language?

proven badge
#

No that is not possible

#
tmdb:
  apikey: ################################
  language: ru
  region: RU
#

you could try that in your config.yml tmdb section

#

I don't think it will do what you want it to do though

#

but I could be wrong

random palm
#

In the config, I changed the TMDB language from "en" to "ru" and that game me the Russian descriptions but not the names. I will try to change the region and see if that changes anything

#

Will report back soon

#

@proven badge does this work and would cover franchise? yaml libraries: Movies: template_variables: language: ru

proven badge
#

Franchise does not use the shared variables, so it wouldn't cover that

#

It may inadvertently work if Franchise specifically has a language attribute, but it's not linked to the shared templates

random palm
#

Changing the region did not help

timber bramble
#

yeah, i hadn't messed with translation and knew that Franchise did not contain the "shared" variables, and had not seen language in the Franchise file

proven badge
#

Then it won't be possible unfortunately

#

@random palm you could always put in a feature request and the dev could review

random palm
#

I guess I will do that. That's on GitHub, right?

#

yes
