#Random Ordering of Collections on Plex Home Page

Hi,

Introduction

I am trying randomize the content pinned to the Plex home page each day, and have 2 ideas, neither of which I have been able to figure out.

Idea 1

I would like to randomize the order of collections shown on the Plex home page. For example, I have a few collections:

Collection 1
Collection 2
Collection 3
Collection 4
Collection 5
Collection 6

On Monday, Kometa makes the following collections visible on the Plex home page:

Collection 1
Collection 2
Collection 3

On Tuesday, Kometa makes the following collections visible on the Plex home page:

Collection 4
Collection 5
Collection 6

What I would like to do is randomize the order in which they are shown on the Plex home page, such that next Monday, the collections may be ordered:

Collection 2
Collection 1
Collection 3

There is a feature request that has been open since 2022 here.
There are also external tools like this that seem to be able to do this.
Is there a way to achieve this within Kometa? I am aware of sort_title, but it does not seem possible to randomize that value.

Idea 2

An even better method would be to configure Kometa to make say 1000 collections, then each day select 50 at random to pin to the Plex home page. Any ideas on how I could achieve this?

Conclusion

Any help / guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Including meta.log from the beginning is a huge help. Type !logs for more information.

Idea 1 - you can use the specific collections on certain days, however you cannot randomize the order the appear
Idea 2 - not possible

  1. The sort title only controls the order in which the collections appear in the collections tab; Kometa cannot manipulate the order in which they appear on the home page. You can do that indirectly, I believe, by deleting the collections and then recreating them in the order in which you want them to appear.

  2. Not possible within Kometa. You could write an external script to produce a YAML file that Kometa could process with your random 50 configured to show up on the home page.
