#Season level rating overlay not working

Beat my head all day on this one. Even tried making a new library and still same results.

I am using a metadata file to apply a ratings and labels and have confirmed they are being applied using metadata_backuphttps://privatebin.net/?ca1f65c79ffa10b8#ApTsGoXWGRdU7C2UQt1XtbH2sEESqV6yW3JuapRCL2Ba Score and user_rating at a season level

This is the overlay yml I am using https://privatebin.net/?245e3d6795e9152d#9CgaZG3xQhH4gxQJgTtVJdcPYM6Vf3CMiurnaVo3Knuz

This is my entire log https://privatebin.net/?f672c3c8a63562f3#Cpqb6oALEGdEma8XbfouUx8jBc1xzL7V2v1MaC1cc3jG
The line that the issue/problem happens at [2024-12-11 18:20:58,684] [overlays.py:592] [INFO] | 52 Items found for Overlay File (3) Anilist_Rating

If I search for score in the metadata backup I get 1060 results and user_rating gives 1090 results. I just don't see why the kometa run is only finding 52 items for an overlay.
I also removed the season_label: Score from the overlay yml and that increased the matches from 52 to 56.
Any help would be amazing 🙂

Does this Plex search produce different results in the Plex UI?

Not sure how to search for ratings from 0.1 to 10 in the ui but sorting seasons by rating does indeed sort them.

#

You can also see 3 of the seasons that got an overlay

crystal shoal
#

If this were happening to me I'd probably split these up to see what kind of numbers I got from the individual components, then cross-reference the three lists to see which things meet all three criteria.

  Anilist_Rating:
    template: [name: Anilist_Rating]
    plex_search:
      all:
        season_label: Score
        user_rating.gte: 0.1
        user_rating.lte: 10

  User_Rating:
    template: [name: User_Rating]
    plex_search:
      all:
        season_label: Score
        user_rating.gte: 0.1
        user_rating.lte: 10

Kometa is just passing this to Plex and working with what it returns. Apparently Plex is only returning 52 items for seasons that match all three.

brittle bear
#

Ok so split the image overlay and text overlay into 2 .yml files and run again?

#

come back with results

crystal shoal
#

Apparently this search:

  Anilist_Rating:
    template: [name: Anilist_Rating]
    plex_search:
      all:
        season_label: Score
        user_rating.gte: 0.1
        user_rating.lte: 10

when sent to Plex only returns 52 things.

I'd look at what these three returned:

    plex_search:
      all:
        season_label: Score
    plex_search:
      all:
        user_rating.gte: 0.1
    plex_search:
      all:
        user_rating.lte: 10

To see where the disconnect is, since you are presumably expecting more than 52.

You may want to put three independent overlays on the seasons to see which isn't what you're expecting.

So the rating is the issue
#

I presume this is a plex issue, Is it a user issue or possibly a bug? is what I need to know I guess

#

The only thing I havent tried from a plex standpoint is a new install/container/config.

crystal shoal
#

I'd probably take a look through the log to see what's happening with the ratings on those 1000 seasons that apparently aren't getting the ratings set.

brittle bear
#

which plex log would that be?

#

server or scanner? etc

crystal shoal
#

Kometa. I don't see any evidence of Kometa setting ratings on seasons in that log you show above.

#

That metadata file above shows all sorts of stuff for Tis Time for \"Torture,\" Princess, but hte log shows very little.

So if the metadata file isn't setting the ratings, then of course the search isn't going to find them.

brittle bear
#

So the metadata backup file is coming from plex correct? because the actual metadata file looks like this

    title: |-
      'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess
    sort_title: |-
      'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess
    original_title: |-
      Hime-sama, "Goumon" no Jikan desu
    genre.sync: Anime,Comedy,Fantasy,Slice of Life,Female Protagonist,Episodic,Cute Girls Doing Cute Things,Iyashikei,Food,Demons,Surreal Comedy,Torture,Slapstick,Monster Girl,Prison,Parody
    studio: PINE JAM
    seasons:
      1:
        title: |-
          Hime-sama, "Goumon" no Jikan desu
        label: Score,2024 Winter
        user_rating: 7.1
    audience_rating: 7.1
    critic_rating: 7.2
    label: Planned
    label.remove: Airing,Ended
#

and the ratings are set correctly in the metadata backup compared to my actual metadata file which confuses me even more

crystal shoal
#

That doesn't match the metadata file you link to above.

brittle bear
#

the file above was metadata_backup which i got from kometa using the metadata_backup command I wanted to see if plex was setting the ratings as the logs said nothing as you said.
my actual metadata file is the next link

crystal shoal
#

That looks like yet another file.

#

Which file is being used in the log?

The first one in the thread up above or this one?

brittle bear
#

yes
so The first message I opened with the metadata backup is the file Kometa gives me when I run the metadata backup command I assume that's what plex has stored for metadata.
This file may be irrelevant sorry if so.

The file I JUST sent is the actual metadata file I give Kometa in the config.

#

My goal with the metadata backup was to see if plex even had the ratings stored or not

crystal shoal
#

That reads to me like you are using that file to set the information, and that file doesn't match the extract from the metadata backup here:#1316520410031984720 message nor the file here #1316520410031984720 message

#

I'm seeing three different metadata files and can't tell which is being used to set values and which are being used to check values.

brittle bear
#

Sorry no let me reword it

crystal shoal
#

I'm heading out for the evening; will have a look later.

brittle bear
#

This is my metadata file I give Kometa in the config that you see. This is used to set the values. https://privatebin.net/?b5bdf916f0264b34#3qJxvVspPFkZ4MsBJNcwdmzpryKy2JUfzKNFBNnhpbww

This is my log for the run https://privatebin.net/?f672c3c8a63562f3#Cpqb6oALEGdEma8XbfouUx8jBc1xzL7V2v1MaC1cc3jG

I then did a run with metadata_backup command in Kometa to see what it outputs and thats this linkhttps://privatebin.net/?ca1f65c79ffa10b8#ApTsGoXWGRdU7C2UQt1XtbH2sEESqV6yW3JuapRCL2Ba "This file may be irrelevant, I'm not sure I used it to see if the ratings from the metadata file above was applied in plex and it seems they were but I don't know how a lot of this stuff works lol"

Hopefully that's better/easier to understand, Sorry I am really bad with words.

#

It's also late for me so will also check this in the morning

crystal shoal
#

The log just looks like it's doing nothing from the metadata file. It's only attempting to set art, and that only from the asset directory.

brittle bear
#

Yeah I don't know why that's the case. Other people in this server use the same script to generate the same metadata file and they have no issues. I tried a clean plex install and the issue persists.
I'm thinking of giving up on this for a few months (life is getting busy once new year comes around) It's working at a show level as I've been running with these settings for about 2 months now and it's only season level that doesn't work.

So if you have no ideas/easy resolution. My last question is if I do try and solve it at a later date, Is this an issue with the metadata file, Kometa issue or a plex issue.

crystal shoal
#

Personally, I would start with a much simpler test. New library, one show, handbuilt simple metadata file. Change single things and verify that the expected things happen.

#

Then the log and the troubleshooting a more focused and easier to get at.

brittle bear
#

Ok thanks alot for pointing me in the right direction, Will make it a note of all this and probably be back in a few months. Sorry if I wasted your time.

Black Sabbath were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist
Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne.
They are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music.[1] The band helped define
the genre with their first three albums Black Sabbath, Paranoid (both 1970), and
Master of Reality (1971). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the band underwent
multiple line-up changes, with Iommi being the only constant member throughout
                  its history.

And the config.yml:
