#Does my PMM config ping mdb for data - and would it help to have a higher API limit?

Hello, I used to have mdb_tomatoes as an overlay ratings source but looking at the latest documentation it seems that it's best to set the Plex ratings source to Rotten Tomatoes and then PMM will pull from there. I now only have imdb as a ratings source in PMM.

My question is does my config hit the mdb API at all? Follow up, is it useful at all to still include mdb_tomatoes as a ratings source? Plex is slowly updating my library to RT (it was IMDB), but some items refuse to switch over.

Welcome @tropic urchin!

Including the meta.log from the beginning is a huge help, type !logs for more information.

PMM will make an intial call to MDBList to verif your API key

#

Setting it directly in Plex is really your choice

#

MDBList isn't a live copy, so the data can be a few weeks or more out of date.

At the same time, Plex only updates the metadata once every so often so can also be out of date.

OK, so for ratings at least it doesn't seem like PMM will use my MDB API, but I can see I still have the mass_genre_update operation in there and like you said to verify my key. Probably not worth continuing to subscribe to them since I don't use any of the custom list features

for mass genre you have tmdb

not mdb

Sounds like I'm all good. I'll close the topic. Thanks!
