Can I put a ratings overlay in the bottom right corner and also use the ribbon group that would take precedence over it?
e.g. show the IMDB score using pmm: ratings, but if it won an Oscar and triggers pmm: ribbon, use that instead.
If so, how do I implement that? Does weight apply to only a specific group or does it carry across groups? Or does the order of - pmm: ribbon - pmm: ratings affect which appears?
Or am I dead wrong and both will appear in a graphic mess?

Generally they'll be applied in the order they're listed in the config.
On reading a little more closely, no, there's no way with the defaults to say "Don't use overlay Bing if this item also gets Overlay Bang" for two arbitrary overlays.

okay. I wasn't sure if "weight" is a group level variable or an overlay_files level variable.
So it seems like it's group level and I need to rethink overlay placement
