BTW, there are some of the images that we have whose transparency layer is "off" meaning that it causes some issues in Pillow (python tool for image editing)

I have fixed them in GIMP quite easily... essentially "grab" the logo and pste it into a new file and save as PNG

Just after writing that it’s all in order, I realized that I need to create collection posters for the additional studios logos…. Fun times with background colours again…

I knew I was forgetting something…. I need to do that diff from the create_default_posters.ps1 script within the createstudios function and the contents of the studio folder again…

Thanks. Is there a way to get a list of only the studios for which I have 2 or more movies? I ask since the comparison I did showed that there are more than 3,000 studios missing in the defaults, and it does not seem reasonable to me that we would create posters for all of them. For most of these studios I only have 1 movie in Plex

Thanks! I used it and got the list. If I take the studios for which I have 3 or more movies, there are 448 studios missing from the defaults list. I still need to fiddle with this list a little bit (remove different spellings of the same studio, or studios that can be aggregated because they are part of the same group), but here it is.

One last note, if ever you are wondering about overlays, the best place to look is the nightly branch. If you see it there, then you can decide to switch to nightly or wait until it gets to the other branchs (develop or master)

:one: Click on DOCKER tab and then on Plex-Meta-Manager
:two: Edit Repository: setting to switch branches:

replace TAG_HERE with latest, develop, or nightly; whichever you want to switch to.

**I'M USING DOCKER ON A SYSTEM WITHOUT COMMAND PROMPT (SUCH AS NAS):**

The same concepts as above will apply:
:one: pull new image
:two: recreate container using that image instead of the current one.

Whatever the system, there will be a way to accomplish these two things.

**I'M RUNNING LOCALLY VIA GIT:**

cd DIRECTORY_WHERE_YOU_PUT_PMM
git checkout BRANCH_NAME
git stash
git stash clear
git pull

For BRANCH_NAME, substitute master, develop, or nightly

Those stash commands are going to discard any changes you may have made to PMM's own files. If that's a concern, you are probably familiar enough with git to know what you need to do instead.

"Walt Disney Pictures" and "Walt Disney Animation Studios" which is used for more recent releases are already available

I think just using the Animation Studios logo for movies with Productions in the studio would be fine, these movies are technically productions of that studio, this is just a historic Disney name changing thing

The worst one is with the ignore in the studios template, you get both the line with the total error recap and each error one by one at the end of the log file

hopefully this works on alot of different kind of cards and we can add something like it into tcm. I hate the blur that image magick adds around some of the text when the titlecard is poor quality to begin with from tmdb

you may find that the chainner results are also suboptimal

you end up with jaggies

but improving the titlecard BEFORE you apply the text is probably the way to go... and not once the text is applied

so ill grab images from tmdb, upscale then add to the ui and then apply text

So the general steps that we take is we find the latest logo and then use chainner to get it to about 2000px wide

Then we either keep the color version or we bleach it white

After we have a properly sized logo, we test it against our test overlays

If it passes that, then we produce the collection poster and roll for a random color

Once we settle on that, we lock that in to create_default_posters.ps1 and produce the collection posters and the overlay images in two sizes and push those to the images repo

That completes the images repo stuff

Then we work on the yml files and wiki updates that need to be made to reflect the newly added images and we PR to nightly

Then we wait

PR gets merged and we wait for the next request and proceed with the same steps

Repeat that for the other types of posters in the other threads here in #1025323509125222430

People poster requests are trickier and somewhat more automated

I usually handle all of those

When rolling for a random color, do you account for the color of the posters immediately flanking the new one, so you don't end up with, e.g. two similar green posters next to each other?

And does/could the random color instead be based on an eyedropper of the logo? Take the most common shade in here and lighten/darken it a bit (assuming the logo isn't just pure white). Might actually not work all that well on solid color images (like the Netflix logo)

No not really... the chances of that happening are pretty rare as well

We started down this path until we realized how many logos had red as a primary color

Or blue

So part of rolling for a color is based on whether the logo we are pasting on it is bleached white or not

If it's bleached white, typically first roll is fine

If there is color in the logo, then we need to roll multiple times unless we get lucky on the first roll

The overlays are similar... but we need to ensure that the color used will "pop" enough to see the overlay. If not, then we sometimes have no choice but to bleach it white or at least a portion of it white

Arialz has been really good at that

what is the general guidance for legacy studios that no longer exist, or have merged into larger studios? for example, I have a movie Cavalcade (1933) that was produced by Fox Film Corporation. That studio merged with 20th Century Pictures to become 20th Century Fox, which is now 20th Century Studios. If I just update the studio for Cavalcade to 20th Century Studios, I'd have a logo, but it would not really be accurate. So I'm just wondering if it is worth adding the original Fox Film Corporation studio in order to be true to the studio that produced the film?
