Including the meta.log from the beginning is a huge help use !logs for more information.
Something like this:
I have a mask that extracts the text so you can see the background and a white underlay with a 50% opacity (still adjusting this). It works great, but on some posters the background is a little distracting, so a blur would be perfect to fix that
What i'm essentially trying to achieve is a way to boost the color from the poster and apply it to the text to get it to blend better with every poster and not look out of place.
this is a more exaggerated example*
Ah I get you
That's not really possible - there may be a way using imagemagick to make the text "cut out" from the black lozenge, but it's not something that is currently in PMM
Oh i have it working in PMM, but without the blur hahahah. The blur would just add that extra level. I'm fine with white text, but as you can see from the exaggerated example it would look SICK if i could blur a box out of the image to blend the background and text into the color scheme of the poster π
Going to experiment with a white gradient on the text to see if i can get the color to pop a little more. Thanks anyway though ahha
I'm still not sure I really get it π€£
so you have this - what is it you want to change
you can reduce the opacity to make the text and/or lozenge blend more into the background image?
Noooo that was made in Sketch π
This is what i can do in PMM
All i did in sketch was boost the saturation and blur hahaha
But the difference is night and day π’
ah ok gotcha
It's all good, i'll make a feature request that explains what I need (and explain it better) haha
i also dont get what your asking
I was just asking if it was possible to apply a blur to only a small section of an image. If i was going to request a specific feature it would be as follows:
The ability to use a .PNG as a Mask to apply filters such as a blur & increasing the saturation. For example, this image would be the mask:
Which would basically turn this:
into this:
Then, i would be able to place another overlay on top of this mask to transform the image into:
(but realistically i would need a second mask to increase the saturation of the text even more)
Did i explain that a little better? hahaha
yea i probably wont have it work quite like that
but youll be able to pick a square and blur it
Gotcha, i'm assuming this would work similar to the text overlays that include offsets, radius, etc?
not sure on radius id have to test that but yea otherwise it should be the same
Main reason I would've opted for using a mask is simply because it would allow way more freedom in the shapes you could use, such as this:
I'm not super familiar with python but i'm sure there would be a simple way to convert a png into vector no?
probably in some way
If theres no simple solution for something like that I understand why a mask wouldn't be the optimal route. If that is the case, could the already existing ability to import fonts be used in anyway to achieve a similar effect?
A simple blur with a corner radius would be more than perfect for my own personal use-case, hopefully the method used to implement this could also be leveraged to boost the saturation too?
Ideally i would love to boost the saturation of the text too, but thats not a huge dealbreaker (it just looks better hahaha)
Either way, when I get some time I'll submit a FR and include the link you provided along with anymore useful links i come across π
just increase the saturation of the whole image
throw this link in theree too
throw up a separate request for saturation its alot easier
The whole image? That wouldn't give the desired effect π in a dream world i would only want to increase the saturation behind the text (hence why i said mask), but if that is too complicated it would be more than sufficient to only increase the saturation inside the box like so:
Actually, if the mask route was taken wouldn't the simplest approach just be extracting part of the image using the mask and applying whatever filters / effects are wanted?
If you raise the feature request it's better to discuss in there

@short badger @half stump
I posted the FR and tried to explain it the best I can with links, code examples and images. Hopefully you understand it and I didn't miss anything π

Well they do say a picture is worth 1000 words π π»
As long as itβs understandable, feel free to mark this as resolved π
