Including the meta.log from the beginning is a huge help use !logs for more information.

Thanks for using Plex Meta Manager.

There’s no way to know how long it will take; all depends on how much you’re having pmm do, how large the libraries are, what the performance of the hardware is like, etc.
reading the meta.log can help you understand where PMM is at with the whole process..
that being said, even when my system is running PMM, playback of video has never been a problem
i do recall, that at the very beginning, because I had set some things to go to sonarr and radarr, I created a storm of files that bogged now my whole server
it was a mistake that I made once and never again. 😉
that being said, if you provide the logs, we can review to see if there is anything "unusual"
it also crashed my plex
I cant seem to start my plex anymore
Plex is runninging but I can't connect to it via Web gui
its basically impossible for pmm to directly crash your plex server... something else is going on there, maybe you were doing too many things at once on that server
look at your plex server log files for possible hints at plex problems, but its not a pmm thing
PMM didnt crash it but for some reason I cant access it via http or https anymore
okay...
do you know how I can get logs off it?
I have a i5 QNAP NAS with 32GB RAM its running smooth for some reason after I ran pmm I cant browse to the IP of the server anymore
I stopped and started multiple times too just to be safe
Apparently my address and port are in use - Dec 27, 2022 11:45:14.800 [0x7f677467fad0] ERROR - HttpServer: Error binding acceptor: Address in use
as i said, thats a plex/qnap issue and not pmm
I managed to fix it it was a stale process which I had to kill manually
so now that I am back online do the logs tell you anything from pmm?
I still dont see any collections
that posted log only shows that it failed to connect to the plex server, if you have fixed that now then you need to run pmm again and provide a new log
looks like my console did something now
is this good?
started it again
and my libraries dont load again
Try increasing your plex timeout
PMM is knocking the door, Plex isn't answering within the given time (60 seconds by default)
you can increase it in your config.yml under the Plex section
what should I increase it to?
I do 300, but 120 or 180 may be fine
should I also keep this in my config
settings:
cache: true

yes keep those
I have changed config
and stopped and started the docker
here is my config - https://pastebin.com/ApFT577z
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
took out token and api key
the timeout is still 60 there
check my config file
also the log contains a redacted copy of your config so you don't need to post that separately
says 300
I don't disagree but the config file that your log file has sent has it set to 60
scroll down the log file a bit and you'll see it
so whats going on
I am restarting it
I see the problem
the log file is not updating...
last time it was updated was 8 hours a go
whats going on??
how are you running PMM?
restarting the container doesn't run PMM automatically, PMM runs daily at a set time.
the link i posted above for you with the pmm launch parameters, use PMM_RUN=true to make pmm run instantly without having to wait for the next scheduled run
once I put enviromental variables I cant change them
anything else I should have:?
each time I change them I have to rebuild the docker container on qnap
and nothing has changed in the second log file you posted, it still fails to connect to your plex server and the plex timeout is still at the default 60, my guess is you might have posted the wrong log file, also judging by the filename meta_1.log, the most recent pmm log is always named meta.log
you dont need to rebuild the container, you can stop it, edit the vars and start it again
qnap sure has some manuals for its docker software
I ran the container with that env
and its still not updating logs
oh
wait
its doing something
That looks good
PMM has started loading the movies from the library, it will then begin processing the files
It will take a while
It may
thank you for your support
And you will want to upgrade your PMM version as I seem to be seeing your logs showing that an upgrade was available.
is that all it will do? Or do I need to wait longer
look at the log and you will see what pmm is currently doing, or if the run is finished
and if you tried to make pmm create more than those collections then there are likely errors in the log giving you hints at what went wrong
In your config, you have:
- pmm: basic
- pmm: imdb
The fist one will create "Newly Released" in a movie library:
https://metamanager.wiki/en/nightly/defaults/chart/basic.html
The second, up to three IMDB collections:
https://metamanager.wiki/en/nightly/defaults/chart/imdb.html#imdb-charts-collections
So that part is doing exactly what you've configured it to do.
Next in line would be to apply overlays to the movie library, then move on to the TV library.
As zaP says, the log will tell you what's happening.
Why are you running this thing if you don't know what it's going to do?
The config you are running will not do that. You haven't included the metadata links that build that sort of thing. You've also included stuff to add overlays without understanding what you've asked the tool to do.
Your config has this overlay file in it:
https://metamanager.wiki/en/nightly/defaults/overlays/ribbon.html
So it's adding that overlay to your movie posters.
Whether it's "good" or not depends on what you want.
can I have multiple config files? or should I chuck everything into one big file?
Why do you want multiple config files?
The answer to "can I have multiple config files" is "yes", but you can only use one at a time, so I'm curious why you want multiple config files.
all of these are multiple files not just 1 config file
how can I just start using other peoples configs?
PMM uses a single config file which links to one or more metadata files.
so if I want to use this - https://github.com/meisnate12/Plex-Meta-Manager-Configs/blob/master/ICHIMOKU/config.yml
I would just have to add plex and idmd line item?
That config is not complete. You need to change the library names unless yours happen to be named the same as ICHIMOKU's. You might need to add the trakt config and maybe other stuff depending on how ICHIMOKU's collections are defined.
On a quick look, everything there should be doable far simpler with the default metadata files included with PMM.
