#Setting an overlay if there are multiple versions of an item in Plex?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Probably gonna be a plex_search: all: duplicates type of command but I don’t really know
duplicates in plex search refers to two separate items in Plex of the same movie (i.e. if you did a "Split Apart") and does not refer two 2+ "Merged" items
There is currently no way to do this that I know of
So if you have a 4K version of Inception and a 1080p version of inception, isn’t that considered a duplicate?
Same for episodes?
Inception IMAX and just Inception to me are not duplicates. Even if both are 4K versions.
all:
duplicate: true```
I know IMAX gets treated as a different edition (like Extended Edition, or Final Cut) - so that's a different thing than versions, which Plex combines into one "listing". Maybe that's why the IMAX example doesn't get flagged in a duplicate search?
@cold igloo Think it's worth me making a feature request? Or is it likely not possible, due to Plex limitations?
Not if they are within one “listing” in Plex i believe
They are only treated as duplicates if they are separate listings like the new editions feature
You can but im not sure if plex shows the number of files associated with each listing
gotcha. in case Plex provides that information in a way the PMM could parse in the future, I've made a feature request here
https://features.metamanager.wiki/features/p/overlay-based-on-number-of-files-associated-with-a-listing
so your speaking of versions where its all one item in plex but you could say play a different resolution. correct? and not the new editions thing plex added
@velvet heath
Correct, I'm talking versions, not editions.
this isnt actually true
if you search for dupes youll get items with multiple versions
Oh really? It never used to do that
i just tried it on your plex haha
I think that may have changed lol
@cold igloo do you have any movies that have extras?
@velvet heath i added it if you wanna test
Errrr no idea its an appbox haha
When you say extras, do you mean like the dovetail addon extras? Like imax, imax HD, directors cut?
no i mean like a deleted scene
so not a media stinger
