Other than lack of images, I love it!
But I'm not sure if that's really needed
The images i mean
Vera Noice.
I see a spot for links. What's planned so far?
Like, the wiki, Tradein.Space, UEXCorp, CFinder, SC Trade Tools, & tanx0r.org, etc?
Anything we can think of to add that would be useful. I can absolutely add each of those with a description of what they are/do.
To add:
Rename to General Q&A, not FAQ
Is the game free, if not, how much does it cost?
Is there a subscription? Needed to play? What does it include?
Purchasing from outside RSI website / gray market
How many people are active/playing?
What game engine (StarEngine, Lumberyard/CryEngine spinoff)
Why not switch to UE5?
Buying UEC in pledge store
It might be good to add information about the game engine (Star-Engine), the source engine's (CryEngine/Lumberyard) capabilities and limitations (brief) and how CIG has modified it for use to incorporate homebrew technologies and enhancements for the enablement of creating such a massive game which operates real-time and is intended to work over many systems while merging hundreds to thousands of players in one "shard". That way people are familiar with how much effort has gone into making this game viable through the concerted efforts of this team. Also discuss how difficult it would probably be to ever change from one engine to another after 10 years of development
Detailed video and text start guides for every starting location and more common starter ships. A few members of the Rats Den have offered to help do this. (Shy is the only one I can remember currently)
Shy has scripts written out for most of it so far.
What does the subscription include?
Should I buy UEC in the pledge store?
Landing and external landing zones for stations
Having a listing of the important files and folders for use is probably a good idea, like the user folder, etc
Video gameplay guides, landing zones and files I think we can add to the #📚┃help-faq or #learn-to-play👶old
Cool. 🙂
Do we want to advertise the presence of the venting thread? Or do we think that should be word of mouth only?
Not sure if it should be here or not, but maybe also a blurb on the PTU, what it is, and why players should participate in it if they can, regardless of whether they contribute to issue council
Might be good to do the same for issue council
Also, with the requirement of VPN being more and more common, would we want to put a list up, here or on the help-faq detailing those?
The vets just proposed a good point. There should be a readout of all of the yearly star citizen events
We unfortunately don’t get dates for those ahead of time.
I wasn’t meaning dates, but like what are they, what do they specialize in, the fact that certain ships can only be bought during those events, etc
It might be good to put the CPU priority "adjustment" in an article
@autumn dove
- Add area in FAQ regarding limited time ships.
Gunna work on today
We do have #📚┃help-faq message and a command for events I believe. Do you think it needs expanding?
I'm hesitant to add that for two reasons:
- The limited benefits it brings, small performance gains, nothing massive
- People setting it to 4 (RealTime) and having their PCs or laptops catch on fire
Although we could just add in a disclaimer to never put it to 4, I'm not sold on the idea. Feel free to convince me.
Maybe better to put the explanations into the wiki of things like which ships are on sale during the events than in the faq text, which isn’t really on you. The st Patrick’s day event isn’t listed though.
Good idea, alright I'll expand it and add the missing event, thank you!
The numbers aren’t sequential so if we do we may want to add the key to the numbers, but it is the one reason my laptop runs without stuttering most of the time.
The problem is that machines like to prioritize things like Cortana and outside desktop interaction above star citizen which leads to stuttering, as Cortana and desktop mouse interactions behind the star citizen frame, as well as disk scanning, antivirus interaction (even of defender), windows explorer, and other unseen but uninteracted elements fight for control. Even recommending 6 (above normal) has provided benefit to some players who are stuck at 1fps because of deadlock issues
