I was never into Destiny / 2, Warframe, and while I like Monster Hunter, I can't see myself doing it as I'm more of a solo player, and I've tried hard to solo Monster Hunter games to no avail from MHFU on PSP. Not to mention, I am completely terrible at the action combat of Genshin Impact and dislike the super high amounts of gear customization it and Warframe have to offer.

I don't want to have to just build around doing a specific element just to beat up someone in an action game. That's one reason I've never fully gotten into Monster Hunter. Most of these games also have like 1-2 shooter weapons, and they're completely horrible for raw damage, and instead rely on gimmicks. One reason I didn't like Borderlands too much, aside from the story/etc. in Borderlands 2 / Pre-Sequel and the first Tales from the Borderlands.

So after combing through Starfield preload files on PC, I don't see any sign of it supporting DLSS/XeSS. If true I think this would generate a lot of backlash for Bethesda & AMD (due to their refusal to confirm whether they block rival GPU vendor techs in their sponsored games).

Starfield isn't that intensive anyway according to the recommended specs on steam.

The 2080 is only slightly better in performance, the biggest problem is that the 2080 makes the system use more RAM due to less GPU RAM and the 2080 runs slightly hotter.

eh I dont care tbh. A single game would rarely be the reason for me to pick one component over another. And while SC was the reason why I upped my RAM again, I would have gone for at least 64 GB again on this system.

Like I get all the silly promotions and "incentives" companies do to sell their products. And people commonly fall for that so easily.

To me all that matters is overall performance, and there the X3Ds are great CPUs. That'd be t he reason for me to go i.e. 5800X3D if I had an AMD4 system (like my old Ryzen 2600 still).

The only reason I'd get an x3D Processor or similar is because I play a fair few online service games, Star Citizen and FFXIV in particular have a lot of reliance on the CPU when in places with a lot of entities. Plus FFXIV's shadows are CPU rendered. (not godray shadows.)

Since I'm only going to be playing maximum of 1440p and limiting to 60 FPS, I don't see Starfield having too much of an issue.

I just checked https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/xf6hf5/skyrim_with_a_ryzen_5800x3d/ and there the common experience seems to be that upgrading from 3700 to 5800X3D and even 5600 to 5800X3D is benefitial even for Skyrim. So I'd argue that the X3D parts would benefit gaming performance over their normal non X3D parts. Even in mainly GPU bottlenecked situations.

Also it of course always begs the question from where one is upgrading. If I'd be on a 2xxx or 3xxx, I'd totally go for the 5800X3D. Sure there still is a difference of 100€ between the two, but given most PCs values, that is a good enough investment in frames in my book.
