i was thinking of buying but i neither got a crew or find anyone who wants to join a session
its around 50k to rent a prospector
you can always find crew on #looking-for-session but its broken atm
as long as .2 isnt a complete wipe. your welcomed to help crew mine. @meager wharf
i have tried there but most of the people wants to do bunkers
or bounties
when is 17.2 coming out?
end of june
im down to do some stuff im new so im trying to get to grips with stuff to do in game
ah cool until then i will save up some money for mole then
you got a prospector?
aye just rented one there
no problem
no wipe
Halo works well with the scanning techniques posted here every 20 minutes
Yea but you don't really want to try quantanium with a rented prospector. So I was giving him the "good" options other than quant.
Catt vs c2 when the cargo refractor gets added?
I suspect the C2 will take longer to load/unload, bc the Cat has those side elevators
Still C2
Flies better, wide open bays front and back, more cargo space.
im gonna get saving then
Biased bc haven't done cat cargo since....3.13?
With the Cargo refractor, are they adding a reason to cargo? I've spoken about hauling missions before, just wondering if its been seen as part of the release? Otherwise, why haul?
Nobody knows if it will be profitable
We have to hope
If it's not it will really limit emergent gameplay we all hope for
I would do cargo all the time if they had actual missions for it
I got a C2 in 3.16 and tried everything "good" not that good.
If scarcity and all that is similar in refactor it's DOA, but gotta stay optimistic
All of this!
Running med supplies or JT is the closest we get to that
I went to NX... Something....near grim hex..... Spotted they sold... Shh
.... Drugs.... So I loaded my freelancer...
Ran it to Grim Hex.....i was pretty sure I wouldn't be stopped.... It's Grim Hex..... But I had my whole bank in cargo.... It was intense!,
JT?
Jumptown
Oic
does msr have shielded cargo yet?
the shielded zone isn't implemented yet, several ships have this option (Taurus does also, I think)
"whole bank in cargo" ... not a place you want to be in unless living on the edge is your happy place
It really was! I like it.... It's nerve wracking in a way ship combat isn't.
Well, at least it's not the like "old days" where you would get completely wiped with a 30K. The implemented Heartbeat is a lifesaver in that regards.
I mean.... It was only 150k....but it was all I had.
When they add hauling missions, and a proper economy.. Pirates and players.... It's where I will be spending my time
does anyone know when the mole will get fixed?
When the patch drops
Yeah, it's fixed for .2 AFAIK
Anyone looking for a pilot?
3.17.2 is currently in testing with the Evocati, I'm guessing it should go to open PTU this week. Target is for 3.17.2 to drop before July.
Should I buy a freelancer if I already have a max?
Just wondering if the normal variant is more multipurpose
Or the DUR
I just want a medium sized vessel to run expensive cargo that isn’t a brick
catt vs c2?
how do you scan at a distance now? right-mouse doesn't seem to work any more
wheres the best place to sell widow
MAX is all you need
I got a MAX they're great - bonus is you can fit 2 rocs in comforatably
MAX one of my favorite ships. I actually CCU'd my cutty to that
Lower scan fov to 2 degs
This video covers a technique I call Active Ping Angle Tuning and how you can utilize the technique to improve your surveying skills. This is very useful when scouting the asteroid belt or if you are searching for Quantainium clusters on Lyria.
For an in depth guide to surveying in the belt, check out my previous video here: https://www.youtub...
ty!
That method supercharged my mining. I remapped my joystick to use the angle change. I farmed 3.5m aUEC of Quantainium in two evenings
I don't seem to be getting the long range scanning info on the left side like I used to using rmb
Have the mining laser out
ah!
that was my problem, thanks! Is instability still a good indicator for quantanium?
Yes, once you can read that, anything 7 and higher is worth checking out. But check out each one so that you can start to get a feel for the % of quan in the rock. A pure 100% quan rock has a 10 rating.
thank you very much!
I have purchased the prospector as well as 2 modules for it surge and stampede, but I don't know what to look for in a quant rock. Like the % of
and size. What would be good for each for my first rock?
if the prospector holds 32 scu should I be looking for 5000 mass rock with like 64%, to get a full load?
I go after anything 20%+, myself
It's been over 6 months since I've played, first day back in, but I think that mass and % would be very rare.
wow, so even if they fix the mole for extraction this new scanning stuff will make solo mole mining impossible
More is caught than taught but you will want to look up Red Monster SC on youtube for excellent guides. You will also want to learn about Radar Ping active angle control as well as the bands of Aaron's Halo. Lyria is a good spot also but I think the cat's meow is found in the Halo.
As you mine in the halo, the quick calculator I use for value of a Quan asteroid is:
10% = 80K aUEC value
20% = 160K aUEC Value
30% = 260K aUEC value of more
this is just a rule of thumb guide
You have the Lancet laser head Size 1, right?
I see, I cracked a rock and I am trying to extract quantanium but nothing is extracting? Do you know why?
did you crack twice?
Oh.
Down to the purple outline
I did not crack twice.
You can't collect if it is orange
You ONLY use surge on the first crack, and understand if you apply surge late in the process you will probably blow yourself up into space debris.
Crack everything down first (that has Quan) before you start scooping. Your timer starts as soon as you collect the first amount of Quantainium. Roughly 15 minutes. If you land really rough, that can also trigger an explosion.
does anyone have a writen guide or explanation on pinging for roc mining
You don't really need to do active angle ping, just set it for 179 or 90. The TRICK is knowing what you are looking for in small deposits
The large deposits appear way out up to 15k or so. But they will vanish near 2200 meters as you close in. however the small gem deposits only show up when you are at 2000ish meters and do not vanish as you approach them.
so just fly at stuff aand if it stays under 2k meters its probably what im looking for?
instability and % of what i am looking for dosent matter in roc mining either right?
Correct, all that stuff means nothing at this time for gem mining. And over 90% of the time any ping returns that are in the "sweet zone" of 2000 meters to 1000 meters is probably gems. If the Scan doesn't work, then an instability of 1.01 to 1.99 is hadanite. Above is dolivine trash or below is the other gem (halfway worth harvesting).
Also if scan doesn't work, you can zoom in and look at the deposit. Hadanite has a pinkish/purplish(?) vein on the rock
alright one last question is their a best place to go for hadanite
or can i go to any place with it#
I just mined a 45% rock of 4k+ mass and it was more quant than my prospector could carry
For whatever reason their units are fucky and don’t work like that
Aberdeen is the best spot for Hadanite. You will need the Pembroke armor for heat protection.
Full load is 1600 in the units your mining info will see
That is called a unicorn. Enjoy those, they don't always come around but it is really nice when they do
The 32 SCU of Quan will yield roughly 275K aUEC refined ore. If you get it done at CRU-L1, you get a 3% refinery bonus.
nice! Dynx has the best yield, yes?
I just spotted a 37.75% 5k rock
What are the best modules for the Prospector for halo belt mining?
32 scu on the nose 🥳
question about mining. Is it always best to refine before selling? or just sell raw?
Best ship for drug running?
Dynix and Ferron. Dynix takes longer, but is cheaper
You only need lancet and a surge and stampede. For the third module it’s up to u
@hollow sedge unless its immediately before a patch or you NEED the cash today, refining is always gonna be worth more
I’ve had good luck on my prospector with the above setup
alright gotcha, thanks! wasnt sure if it was more economical (as in more money per hour) to just simply sell
100% power, hit surge when I estimate it will bring me into the green zone, modulate power to 85+/- 3%, and if it kinda stabilises in the green, hit stampede
not really, you can have a ton of orders refining as long as you are willing to wait a day or 2 to get your pay and it takes virtually the same amount of time to set up the work order vs selling raw
Yes, there is no limit as to the number of refinery jobs you can have stacked. Or how long before you pickup and sell.
However a new patch will wipe all refinery jobs and reset all ships.
I once had 30 refinery jobs to deliver to TDD. A few days ago I had 16 before I sold that to market
Dang
I should probably look into getting a better cargo ship than my cutlass
Although I really want the mercury, that's 5 mil, so ig I'll be using the cutlass until I save up 5 mil lol
yep, just a few more trips with a smaller cargo ship
either that or i save up just 2 mil and get the andromeda max, but the mercury is literally my dream ship in this game. I think ik what im saving up for lol
I still like the Cat personally, and the faster load/unload of the Cat, RAFT, Hulls etc really appeal to me
I guess we'll see if it's actually faster
they've said pretty directly that's their goal with the refactor, but all of this depends on actual implementation
different stroke for different folks. the Herc landing gear barely works, tips over in a slight breeze and feels sterile
Yeah, hopefully it's not still vastly superior to the other ships
Does the defender have more space to put boxes than the Pisces
Not cargo just loot boxes
Is there a particulary good place to start from when ROC mining ob Daymar?
I'd say Pisces probably has a little more, but it's pretty close
on the boremax when it says optimal charge rate -50% what does that mean exactly
like does that mean dont go to 100% laser power
The cheapest per SCU cargo ship for now is the Freelancer MAX at 2.2M aUEC for 120 SCU of cargo space. Not as pretty as the MSR but with MSR's 5M aUEC price for only 114 SCU, the MAX is a better business decision. Then after letting the MAX carry all the refinery jobs to the TDD, you can buy the MSR with no problems. Just an idea
If you want it be daylight all the time, you cant QT to orbital marker OM-1 and dive to the surface from there. Under OM-1 it is always daylight
Daymar ok for hadanite mining but Aberdeen is your best bet
yeah I always go to OM1 whenever I'm mining
@fiery walrus it means that when its filling the green optimal area it will do so at half the speed
so thast good
means you have to take twice as long trying to keep it optimal
is there a reason when scanning sometimes a rock shows you can scan it, just wont
oh....didnt know that
you can use multiple modules though to offset that
things like optimax + boremax or boremax + waveshift
its like sometimes the scanners arnt working
scanning mode gives more info the closer you are to an object, so at a distance you'll see mass but less than 300M you'll get all the graphic details
no at 100 i was getting nothing
but showed it was a scannable rock
went to lyria and no issues only in space
ahh yeah... scanning in the halo is still a tire fire
That means the green will fill half as fast. So you don't want to use it if you're relying on a lancet/ surge/ stampede build, as it will be much harder to finish the green out.
@topaz burrow would send me ur mining website pls i lost it
Anyone had issues with mining head disappearing off prospectors? Happens after destroyed/ claimed. Then the mining head sometimes appears in home location.
my quant load
anyone down to mine? in a prosp
Does the tractor beam on the Taurus work?
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
i found it
i like to see what my total payout shall be
Ahhh :)
hey guys, do the Dobbs and the closed ore facility caves spawn loot or loose hadanite, or are they just for hand mining?
I have many workers at refinery from yesterday. But I don't have a ship I can fit it in. Figured I'd rent the cutty or something. But what I dont understand yet is how inventory management for cargo works? Can I group the work order stuff that has the same ores so that I can haul all of one kind to a station? How do you guys do it?
Rent Connie
You can only haul same as you deposited it to refine
Like 32 mixed scu - get 30 refined. Have 15 scu empty - get nothing, 30scu or none.
So what if I have 2 work orders with 10 and 15 titanium for instance? Can I haul 15 titanium then? If I understand you correctly your work order is grouped together in the same "crate" and when you haul it to sell you can only take the whole crate?
And I can't rent the constellation. I started like 2 days ago and only yesterday did I manage to do something profitable. I think I have about 15k. I went to bed in my prospector hoping it would be there when I woke up, but loading screen hangs so that probably means I'll be back at base with no ship except starter and 15k. Sigh
Yey! Loading screen unhung itself and prospector still there!
cutty black can fit 46 SCU. Dont overthink it. You can't split work orders so you need to be able to fit entire order in one go. so if you have 3 orders of 15SCU each that's 45SCU and cutty will fit it. but if you have 30 in one and 30 in other you need to do two runs
You can take 10 or 15, or 25. Not 17/12/etc
That’s why I said take connie
In case your orders are only 10 and 15 scu OVERALL. Not 15 titanium 3 aluminum. It makes 18 scu.
Best thing to do would be sell raw ore until you can afford to rent a hauler. Stack refinery orders up until you have enough to make several trips back and forth to city.
I have 6 work orders from the prospector of varying quality. Doing one haul now that I plan to sell outright so I can rent a hauler
There ya go
keep an eye on this channel. There will be patch within next 2 weeks. Historically patches wipe refinery orders so we all have speed runs from refineries to TDD day before patch drop 🙂
Thanks for the heads up!
Optimistic)
pls 3.17.2 bring back the glory of the Mole 🙏
it does. It's in the leaked patch notes
I've already both and outfitted mined in anticipation lol
yeah I saw but I hope there isn't 3 new bugs with it
fixed Mole empty cargo
Mole elevator now doesn't work
pilot door doesnt open
using thruster makes ship explode
thats a feature, surely
lmao
I wouldn't know, the Mole has been in storage the whole time lol
The ship type tractor beams will be implemented in a future patch.
where should i go to buy the lancet head ? terminals at cru-l1 are broken
New Babbage / Shubin
also !itemfinder (ignore the refinery locations because broken as you say)
Use the website to search for any item (and where to buy them) in-game.
ty guess i have to go all the way to the other side of stanton
There are other places too if you use the link
But i assume you also want modules and i think they're mostly at Shubin
Terminals being broken makes it less clear
Hey! I'd love to get started into trading using a Freelancer MAX. Besides using SC-trade tools. Are there any other tips to get started?
can also check things out here https://uexcorp.space/routes
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
aside from that, cargo running is not in a good spot atm
Ow that's unfortunate. I wanted to try smth else after mining for a week. I'll stick to mining then 🙂
Try some early bounty hunting!!
if you are struggling for variety, let me know. There's always a gunner space in my ship :d
Like Capsel mentioned, trade isn't in a good place. Trade does work but it favors only the largest carriers (C2, CAT, etc).
About this time next year it will be a different story.
The days off making 80k per trip in the MAX is over until then
But trade is there, you just have to research it out. Jack Axton's video on trade refresher course is a good start. About 6 months old but still valid
The MAX is great for the illegal monitoring mission
I always trespass into the comm array's personal space too much and a Navy fighter shows up to kill me 😦
Now you make 80k a trip in caterpillar
If you're lucky and can find the resources. Astitine is pretty good and clear almost 100k in a C2 if you can get a full load. The next step down the trade tier is Titanium then Gold. Scrap is always a good little 20k run for a fast buck.
I can do 140-170k a load in the C2 reliably
But at 900k risk
Stims you only risk 240k get 70k return.... it needs help all around and I pray the MAX is a darling after the refactor
Can't beat a laranite/titanium mix though unless an event is on
Raft should be better
Time?
80k I may do in 10 mins endlessly
Bezdek to A18, not fast
Scrap is even a contender if you are looking at uec per hour
But any time you do that road with cargo it leads to depressing news
Humbolt is great for Titanium/Gold. It is pretty much a bottomless pit (or use to be!) for Gold runs
Bezdek is a Titanium "gold mine" for sure also. Way more production there
I like to be part of the problem and grab whatever meager laranite stores there are there
Then the rest Titanium
A long time ago I ran gold in the cat, and it was limitless at the time. Very nice and chill way to make auec
Anytime CIG feels like making my mole flyable again would be nice
It will be the moment patch drops
Yeah but it's par for the course that they've had it identified for a long time now but decided to wait a month for a patch
I’m watching a video that talks about mining gems with a ROC, how scalable is that? I’ve not really looked at mining much yet
Hi all i need help
I have a ROC filled with ore on a Cutlass black.... i flew to lorville to sell it... however it doesn't show up in the terminals
Do i have to transfer the ore from the ROC to the Cutlass then sell it?... or do i have to go to an outpost with a trading terminal where i can sell it directly from the ROC?
I'm totally at a loss here
not sure how to sell my ore!! haha
Yes either of those would work
thank you... how do i transfer from the ROC to the Cutlass?
i saw i need a box of some sort? or can i just put it on the floor of the cutlass?
IIR the ROC won't show up if it's inside the Cuttie
can i PARK the ROC in lorville?
The ROC's internal storage can be accessed via the compartment in the back, though you'll have to drag each ore to the cuttie's inventory
ohhh wow... each ore as in every single one of the 20K ?
it's 2 types of minerals..... so just 2 stacks transferred?
Yes Lorville has surface entrances and ground vehicle termianls
map_lorville
Ore doesn't stack, so you'll have to drag every single ore (each is 0.001 SCU)
would i have to fly the ROC to one of the terminals?
I'm not sure actually. Usually there's a range around stations where it'll show your vehicle in shop inventories. Not sure how big that range is for cities though
ok well it's not within range on the Trade or Admin terminals... what would you recommend i do? transfer allll the ORE to the cutty or fly the ROC to a ground terminal which i have no idea how to find... or how to get clearance to land there.. they always give me a bay
Or on Hurston are there any outposts that i can trade at? that will recognize the ROC?
i cannot find the ground terminal on that map
ohh by Gate 01-04
i mean 01-03 and 04-06
if i go down to that terminal on the metro - will it let me get my ROC even tho the ROC is on the cutty?
if i go down to that terminal on the metro - will it let me get my ROC even tho the ROC is on the cutty?
You could always go to one of the HMDSs on/around Hurston
do they have trade terminals?
No you can't retrieve vehicles that aren't stored
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
do you know which HDMS outposts have trade stations?
Use the link I sent
i see the link but not sure how to use that site
and dont' remember the cargo i have.. just 2 types of ore
Commodities, search for the commodity and it'll list the shops that buy and sell it. ROC mining gives you aphorite, dolivine, and hadanite. Shops that buy one type will buy all of them
Hurston
Stanton
348,867
348,867 Aphorite
where is Stanton on Hurston? i can't find it on the map.. is it an outpost?
Stanton is the whole star system
ohh ok well Hurston isn't super helpful haha... i think this is showing me where i can mine it not where to sell it
That's every store that buys hadanite
Gem usually can be sold at any mining outpost and they pay the same
ohhhh ok thats helpful
shoot just came from there to lorville as it looked like my best bet to sell
great.. so NOW my ROC shows up at the trade terminal... but apparently i don't have hadanite i have the other 2... so i gotta find the admin terminal
Any place that buys hadanite will also buy aphorite and dolivine
apparently not.. the trade terminal only buys hadanite
in lorville that is
well same city but different terminal it appears
Oh yeah for cities it'll always be at admin
and i can never find the admin terminal
and when i did it didn't recognize my ROC.. only ship
It will take literally hours to transfer ore piece by piece onto your cutlass, just fly back to a mining outpost, land cutlass, and you can sell the hadanite directly at a terminal
It won't recognize the ROC if it's in your cuttie
Oh huh, interesting
But yeah usually if I'm ROC mining I just sell at a mining outpost on the moon I'm mining on. Don't have to deal with planetary atmo then
YAY!!! it recognized the ROC now at the admin console
Great
that would have been smart of me 😄
WOOO... just made 50K... most i ever made on a project haha
odd the admin terminal didn't pick up the roc yesterday... but after i summoned it and parked it again it showed up
sooo odd
would have been way smarter to do as you said and just sold it at an outpost
Yep, Aberdeen and daymar are really good for hadanite mining, sells for 275/unit. Aberdeen though you need a Pembroke armour and Pembroke or heavy helmet because its hot AF (hur L1 station, refinery deck shop)
What is the best cargo route for a poor person with a MAX?
This is a good route
https://youtu.be/k8wO9iO3E7E
Let me show you one of the best trade routes in Star Citizen. This is my how to make money fast trading in Star Citizen guide playing in 2022!
Back in the day I sent hours making this one when trading in Star Citizen was glorious! Lets hope I make money fast in the latest Star Citizen 3.17.1 patch!
Let us pray to the Stems, Medical Supply and ...
thank you
So I was hand mining first time in HDES on Aberdeen. How do I reset the cave? Server hop or will it reset itself?
That is a good question. The cave should reset itself, especially if you see an entrenched bounty contract for that cave again
Scrap... HUR L1 to HUR L5... Repeat
I think you can make more than that, faster, just by running packages
3.17.2 was suppose to be out by end of month and it will be fixed then, however it was released to the NDA group (called Evocati) and it going through patches to resolve other issues. I'm think it won't make the drop before end of month but rather sometimes around July 7th. This is purely my speculation
try Astitine out of Woodruff in Ida or Titanium & Laranite from Bezdek on Arial
Trade currently only favors the largest of ships (C2, CAT, etc). You use to be able to make 80K or more with the MAX but that was over two years ago during the heydays of Trade runners back when Laranite was king.
Gold is usually easy to get stock on, and 18-19% margin - Diamond got a % or two more, but also abit harder to get stock. But stock is player related so shrug
hey all.. i'm at an outpost on hurston... supposedly i can sell my ore here.. but i can't find the koisk
anyideas??
HDMS-Thedus
You can't sell ore there
Unless you mean gems
https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Dolivine according to this i can?
yeah i think gems
Yeah then you can
Kiosks are in the building with the orange light, if you're looking for it
Just need to find the terminal then
ahhhh thank yhou
looking for the orange light!
appears to be 3 buildings with orange lights and 1 with blue stuff
which is the launcher location
there is always a pole with an orange light at the building that has the trading kiosk
lol just blew my self up with surge that was fun
stand out front. look at the building. does it have a pole with orange lights?
yes... sort of a pole... 2 of them have that
4 oerange lights on a sword looking thing
🤨
one labelled storage
Should I get the Cutlass black to avoid those 30K fee of transporting refined quantum. Or should I save for a bigger ship? I currently only have a Titan and a Prospector
oh no thats for a quest
So why is Lancet better than Helix?
?
it's not. it has different advantages
and downsides
found it!!! thanks
Ah, well everyone I talked to has recommended Lancets
for Quant
because it's unstable
Right
Lancet reduces instability
Idk, maybe.. think it's like 7k in 7min...
Gotcha
package bunkers can net 45k plus loot 👍
Bunker stuff would definitely get more..
How is quant mining?
@broken harness once you get the hang of power surges mining some people prefer heads that give higher yield instead of relying on the lancet for stability
Like 150K per hour of total work
Interesting
lol i got 10k for 45 min of work 😄
I like running the scrap and distilled spirits then doing bounties
anyone have a great option of where to min on hurston?
last night i had TONS of rocks... today i can't find any
Looking for gem rocks?
Aberdeen has high Hadanite deposits - but it also has a boiling, poisonous atmosphere
so probably want appropriate armor that can handle it
or else youll be running back inside and chugging water every 5 minutes
Gem mining is pretty profitable too isn’t it?
where has an undersuit only atmosphere?
I mean you can do Aberdeen in an undersuit. You'll just need to take breaks from mining. What ship are you using?
like you can run back inside your Cutty or Nomad e.g.
Definitely thinking about sticking a ROC in my Titan and seeing what types of gems I can get
not sure that will fit, might be a tight squeeze?
Daymar is great for mining too, but it's around Crusader
I think I've only heard of a Nomad being the smallest ship to fit a ROC
Ah looks like it can’t fit
pity
Well not easily anyway
which would defeat the purpose
yeah got PKd a few times there.. but was good mining
Do y'all think pirating will explode with the cargo refactor making cargo physicalized? I imagine you could blow up a ship and actually recover the cargo to sell yourself
I’ve only had issues around grimhex
Never Crusader proper
and you could always just stage out of the Crusader orbital station
possibly. I think it will incentivize more crewed gameplay
a fully armed C2 or Cat is a more formidable target
Should I get the Cutlass black to avoid those 30K fee of transporting refined quantum.? Or should I save for a bigger ship? I currently only have a Titan and a Prospector
I think a Cutty is a good upgrade from a Titan. Both are good well rounded versatile ships
if you want a dedicated hauler you might want to look at like a Freelancer or Hull
I just don't like how the Freelancer looks
agreed. I go by the rule, get the ships that are fun for you
hence I fuckin love the RAFT
Me too
it's so pretty, I don't care the crane doesn't work yet
I agree with you it looks just better
Can you fit a ROC in the Andromeda 🤔
So, should I skip the Cutlass and go to the RAFT?
The Connie Ann? ya it'll fit in the garage
Sometime tells me that would be really stupid and slow
@junior cape diff pros and cons, Cutty can carry some vehicles, RAFT can't
to mine that way
plus Cutty can do some bounties
Didn't know that
like I’m already doing VHRTs, I’m just kinda curious what I would do to get into mining
Cuttie is more of a multi-role ship, RAFT is purely cargo
RAFT is basically just a crane with 3x 32SCU connexes, attached to 6 armored engines. whereas the Cutty has a big 46SCU cargo bay
I was just thinking to skip into RAFT to avoid 1 trip per refining and do 3 instread
Exactly
speculation, based on the previews of the cargo refactor kiosk screens, is that different ships will have different load/unload times. they previewed an interface of those which included hiring NPCs to speed up the process
Buy the Prospector first, you can get that money back in 1 week of intermittent work
they've advertised the Cat, Hull, and RAFT as being faster in that regard
Oh the prospector is an actual ship not a ground vehicle
I would not be surprised if the C2 took a bit of a nerf from that due to having to roll on/roll off all the cargo in that huge hold
Yes, is like $2.2 M
Makes sense
Is also fun to play mining
I’d mine quant with it right?
Yeah I imagine the RAFT will have a relatively faster load/unload time since you can just lower the cargo containers
that's the big seller right now
It will be optimal to do it
can I do that on daymar?
i wish we had the Expanse already
More into other moons and specially in the belt
oh it’s mined in space?
Both
belt is safest
Safest from what?
rats
npc pirates and players

And I find quantum faster there
I prefer lyria
too many bugged rock in belt
that took me 2hrs thi bc i had bad luck from the Quant Goddess
like @haughty adder said, id be filthy rich if the belt rocks didnt bug out and become unscannable. i have had multiple 5 or 8 cluster rocks that had quant ore exterior
Pirates also target the belt more
you take it to a refinery and pay for them to process it, then load the product into a hauler and bring it to a TDD to sell
i see
Well sitting on like 900k right now so have ways to go yet but I think I’ll give this a whirl next. I appreciate the info
quant just takes time and patience to mine it, but they payout for that is big
i also find it relaxing out there in my prospector
Mine & Chill
It is really nice
Put on some music or a YouTube video and just relax
i lowkey enjoyed belt mining in EVE and that was pretty mindless
Honestly that make Laranite nice to mine in the halo, you can take your time and don't have to worry about stability
mining and industrial were my game in EVE, sadly ganking took the enjoyment outbof it for me
i did basically everything in EVE short of fly titans and build capitals
that and RL took almost all my free time
the biggest i can fly is an Orca rn
industrial/mining wise
most mining in Eve wasn’t super profitable unless it was moon stuff or using a Rorq
ice mining
long time but heavy water was good money
i mostly just found the logistics element of that game uninteresting so I was pretty bad at making money
i was giga poor until I finally broke down and did blueprint crap for a few months
plex was rlly what kept me afloat bc of ganking getting ao bad
I never had ganking issues, but I spent 10 years in nullsec so I was used to it I guess
i always lost my pve stuff doing stupid crap, never while actually grinding
had a few close calls in empire and lowsec but never got caught
How do you find Laranite, I know quantum is Type Q,
What are some upgrades I should make to my prospector? I currently have mh1 lancer, thats it.
M and C have Laranite
Usually you can finish mining all deposits before dying to heat
what armor should i get to mine aberdean
you can do it with undersuit if you take breaks every 4-5min. but Pembroke is the ideal for high temp
out of the heat. into your ship or enclosed space
if you're doing that, helps to remove helmet and drink water as well
and undersuit if you start to overheat
(inside the ship, obv)
You can survive on Arial for like 15mins
so that’s enough time to break a rock or two, but I’d recommend getting the Pembroke armor
forever
amazing
I like Daymar
until you need food/drink
keep getting pk'd there
med beds help in those situations
Bummer... there are a lot of pvpers in Crusader
I've been lucky
yeah i'm a total newb... and one of my key weapons vanished off my ship after a log off... not even sure how to replace it
Which weapon?
You may be able to replace it, but certain busted components if repaired take a char reset to fix
There’s almost always griefers haning out at HTML Bezdek on Arial too
whats a char reset?
!reset
• [FAQ](#📚┃help-faq message) • Perform a Reset •
Note: Wait at least ONE HOUR after reset. The official info on the reset page is OUTDATED.
I’d claim the ship before I did a char reset
Claim is always worth trying, or if it's like a vanguard nose gun just replace it
yeah my ship DUPED... so i have 2 now.. .and the original i can't even claim... the second one doesnt have the weapons the first had
Ahhh.... don't think reset helps that
you don’t need to claim a ship to change it’s loadout
see if you can unequip it from the ship you can’t claim (you’ll have to be in the location it says it’s stored)
If it won't claim but it's stored someplace, sometimes you can retrieve it by going there
So close
odd i got a pembroke suit... but there is no helmet?
It should be a full package
As in it has a helmet
hmm.. no helmet
even the guy is bald on the manican haha
i will wear my undersuit helmet
check the kiosk for helmets?
I count it by trips, so average from 230K to 275K per trip. I made 16 trips that cashed in 3.5M aUEC. Lower average than normal, but only took two evenings of mining.
whats the easiest way to sell my gems from my roc?
You'll need to go to Tanmany&Sons for the helmet if you can't get it off the manikin in the refinery store
do i need the helmet??
Any outpost on the planet. However if the terminal doesn't see your ROC, back it out of the ship and try again
Yes, the countdown will be as if you didn't have high heat protection
what diff will it make iwthout the hlmet?
You can try though
Let me see if there is another place
with my luck i need a helmet instead of the geneeric free underarmor one
anyway to verify?
Tanmany and Sons
so i do need it ... great
You can try if you have a heavy armor helmet but the last I remember it didn't offer an buff because of that
nice lost my first mining load because the height meter thing on the side of my ship wasnt working
and on the dark side of the planet
finding om1 is to much of a pain
because the devs cant make a half decent ui with easy ways to find points to jump to
it's not far above Anderson
Yeah, I normally get up in atmo a little before looking
Do u guys have tips for better finding the quant
I feel like my hugest time dump is finding the rocks
It can be.
The only tips I have are
- look for boxes over 5K away (the further away they pop up the better)
- Look near bases of mountains in the flat areas between mountains (not the mountains themselves)
I’ve been just getting lucky, the last five rocks I’ve found have been by visually spotting QT as I flew around
ok got my pembroke helm now hahah... what a PITA
where did you end up buying it?
do the roc upgrades make a significant difference?
I think so
The stock ROC breaks down so ofter (power issues)
so the power upgrade is a must in my book
Are you using Active angle ping?
Also, you may want to switch to the Halo if you're mining on Lyria.
I did that, but I've not had a chance to prove if they do or not. I think you will get better wear though
I did 16 quick trip to Aaron's Halo (two evenings) = 3.5M aUEC
And not even my normal average per run
@mint elbow it's not very expensive and all the parts are at Omega in the Commons at New Babbage
Good luck!!
anyone where do you look in the halo? I was trying that today and kept finding clumps of 1-2% quant, didn't find anything over that
I find lyria better for quant. Less buggy rocks, easier for teams to scan, closer to arc l1 ECT..
I have luck in the 7th ring
Band 4 works pretty good. I think the bands are mirrored from in to out (i.e. 1=8, 2=7, etc)
The trick is the ping angle control, that supercharged my mining
I also work out of CRU-L1, which is the ONLY refinery in Stanton with a 3% Quantainium bonus
I remapped my ping to side mouse button and scroll wheel, and that helped. just haven't been finding any rocks worth cracking
but I was in ring 5 so I'll try 4 or 7
I avoid 5 because too dense and more duds, but that's just me
I have had fantastic luck at killing my jump right at 12M Km (stopping normally around 11,865,000 KM)
CRU-L1 to ARC-L3
I normally set my QT marker back to CRU-L1, run uncoupled at about 180km (right on the red/white line) and begin to scan for targets of opportunity as I drift. From almost 12K you can determine duds and other types of asteroids. When I hit a Quan, I close in until I get about 8Kish. From there you can normally get the Instability. If it is high (above 5 or so) then it is promising. Get use to looking at that so eventually you will know if the Quan is worth scanning.
OH man.. F me.. does a ROC need to be refueled??
spent so much time planning for this and now my roc wont' turn on
Where do you sell the cargo in Orison?
Anyone willing to show my the ropes in cargo, Im completely new and looking for knowledge
Does surface mining or bunker missions make more money?
Admin or TDD map_orison
Starting off, surface mining. Once you tier up bunkers, then bunkers
Bunker missions for sure if you use a 2 SCU crate and sell items you can't buy to other players. Surface mining is probably more reliable though
Once you get to the 90k bunker missions then that for sure
Okay thank it’s been a little since I’ve been on so I’m basically trying to re figure out the game
*thank you
Even 60k bunkers at tier 2 would be more profitable. Can run one in about 8 minutes. Knock 2 out before you even get the roc in your ship to start mining
How do you tier up in bunker missions?
Do them
Okay are they under mercenary?
Yep
Okay do you have to do a lot before you tier up for them?
Should start with a contract. Then "assist in defending site" which are 15k bunkers.
Then "defend against threat", which are 60k
Tier 0 to 1 is like 5. Tier 1 to 2 is 10(15 total). I think 20 for tier 2 to 3
Okay thank you so if I grind out for like 2 hours I can be at tier 3
So yes, it's a bit of a grind. But worth it. Plus your getting free armor and guns if you take the time to loot it
Okay thanks again I’m gonna go grind bunkers
Also, your rep is based on which ever planet your on. So if you do 10 at hurston, then go to microtech. Your starting back at 0 there.
So pick a planet and just grind there
Oh dam okay
All my rep is at hurston. If I go to another planet, I have all base missions to do lol
That goes for any profession though. Bounty, delivery, mercenary, are all specific planet base
hey all... is there a temp problem with the ROC?... i can't get it fired up and working on abeerdeen
or does it take fuel?? and i'm out??
hit U to start it up
and I for the engine
if that doesn't work, turn it off and on again
make sure the mining arm is retracted (M) when you restart it
If you’re using the stock ROC then it could be the power, check to see it’s getting power from the power “items” tab in the MFD
also get out and back in the ROC to see if that fixes the issue
my guess is you’ve been out mining for awhile and it just shut down on you
anoying my first mining trip i die to bugs
second mining trip i spend a hour sorting shit out and when i get to the mining facility its full of npc pirates
3 hours and 0 progress made sometimes i really cant be fucked with this game
it says usage 0.00
no idea how to get this ROC working
its like dead in the water... ffs.. soo annoying
anyone have any ideas why my ROC doesn't work?
No, I fly to Area18 and sell at the TDD there
Trade isn't in a good position at the moment and unless you have a C2 and an extra 500K to 1M of aUEC, it isn't going to be much in the way of earnings either
How many times did you use it? You will need to reclaim it about every two trips (imo) unless you have upgraded parts, then every 4 trips
AHHH that could be... so i have to reclaim it?... how do i do that if i can't even drive it to a pad on an outpost
Ok, if it is stuck in your ship, then unfortunately you will need to claim your ship also
it's in my cutty... so if i reclaim my ship will that work?
that will purge the ROC carcass out of it
I did that once. I claimed my ROC while the old one was still parked in my ship. That didn't end well
ok i logged out and back in.. just retrieved it... so we will see i guess
lol.. didn't end well ugh
so what did you do
just retrieved my ship so we will see
I just did a claim at another station, LOL
nope still dead
Retrieve doesn't do it
like a moon station?
Yes, you need to "CLAIM" it, so you need to leave it somewhere and take another ship to another station
how do you claim it if it isn't destroyed
do i push it? how do i get it out of the cutty?
ohhh i see... i do not have a second ship... so i gotta crash this?
ouch, you need to get your armor and gear stowed at a space station first
i will just ccrash it
Not until you stow your ARMOR
yup just did that
crashed lol... so lets see how this plays out
yeah station LOCAL
nothing on the ship except the ROC
Just keep an eye on the power level for the ROC
whew, I had visions of you loosing everything, LOL
and I'd highly suggest upgrading the power plants next time you get a chance
you can buy all upgrades at New Babbage
yeah, but the Pembroke armor is expensive
yeah, it has two
ohh good call
one cooler and two power plants
one is for the mining laser, and the other powers the drivetrain and everything else
they'er about 20k each
ohhhhh wikid;... i had no idea
check Erkul first to make sure you get the right item
power plants are the most important, then the cooler (which I believe keeps your laser from overheating)
I upgraded everything
all components for the ROC are size 0
i am 5 hours into just trying to mine... but i had a run in with some doods who flipped my ship upside down lol.. in a tank... they were helpful and solved the problem and gave me money.. .but man... talk about a time sink
-good call... i will upgrfade my roc
that's part of the learning curve
i just want to do some mining
yeah, I had the same experience when I first started ROC mining
lots of barriers (game, grifters, etc) got in my way
haha yeah they were super cool... like 5 guys 1 guy a pita... but it was actually a fun ingame experience watching him flip my ship over with his... was impressive fliying
Try out Arial (and stay away from the jump points) and you might have better luck
good luck!
prob go back to aberdean after my 16k suit and helm
ok here is a question... my ship is on PAD 01 ... but my ROC is 6000 ft away
i mean 6048 m away
how do i solve that situatoin? lol
gunna go to an outpost and try to claim it\
what percentage of each mineral should I mine? For instance if I found a rock with 2.00% Quant would it be worth it?
Where should I sell Quantanium?
nice profile pic are you a mod?
TDDs
I wouldn't but IDK I am new.
No, just doing some trolling on another server lol
TDDs?
Ah okay
There are districts at each capital city were you can sell commodities at kiosks, usually called Trade and Development Divisions (TDD) the one on Lorville is called the Central Business District (CBD)
Go to one of those. Which planet are you near?
Gotcha, so youll want to load the refined quantanium onto a ship with a cargo hold. then fly it to Area18 and store the ship. Take the tram to the city, and go to the building to the right of the main square labeled "TDD"
you can go to a kiosk in there, select your cargo ship, and sell the refined quant
Alright.
Question.
@scarlet rover When I press Select Storage Option, I see nothing.
do you have a ship stored at the refinery station?
I just rented a freighter.
is it stored there?
You want at least 15% or more. My rule of thumb is
10% = 80K aUEC
20% = 160K aUEC
30% = 250K aUEC
double check at the ASOP terminal to make sure its at the same station
and not back at whatever your home planet is
which freighter did you grab?
Okay
ty
The Black Cutlass
Also please don't shorten the words, I have no clue what the "ASOP" terminal is.
to be fair neither do I. It's the yellow kiosk you use to retrieve ships
by the hangar elevators
Nevermind, It is not stored here.
you can request it transferred
by default, most ships and items you rent or pledge will be sent to your home planet
Ah okay.
once the Cutty arrives at that station, you can transfer the load from the refinery to it
👍
So I got 14 minutes until my quant reaches critical, what does that mean?
it will explode if you don't store it at a station by then
is hadanite mining effiecent?
Oh I should go then
si
Yeah
run like the wind
Atleast in ROC it is
Alright I'm probably going to spend all day ROC mining hadanite to afford a prospector
Next time, look for a cluster of Q. Break each rock down first, THEN start extracting only once you've gotten them down to purple. Starting with the highest %
We can use our combined knowledge in order to form an average miner.
I just finished it, it was only a bit of quant, sorry. after I store this if you still want to sure
Once the next patch is released, the multi-crew miner will be working again
Nice
the MOLE has 3x mining lasers
Im thinking of getting the MOLE after I get enough in prospector
I do not have a microphone sorry
Nice
What is the circle of death?
The spinning circle of the space station
oh lol
Im at ARC L1
So I can sell this stuff
I like Everus Harbor, above Hurston, because it doesn't have a ring of death 😄
is it worth to upgrade the ROC?
is cargo a decent way to make money?
SHOOT I GOT 6 MINUTES
Run Back
Ye my slow brain accidentally purchased a ROC DS and I don't actually have a friend
looking for some people that want to do some moon mining by hand i'm out of area 18 and leaving soon hit me up
Ship didn't explode

idk
I fixed it, I just stored it.
Ah alright
ok so these huge rocks.. are they possible to mine in a ROC?
Mass ~0.8 are minable by the ROC
anything larger than that cannot be mined by the ROC
you can only mine gemstones
Area 19
Ty
why isnt SLAM counted as illegal cargo?
i liked it
if you enjoy mining then the Prospector is great
watch some videos on mining & see if it's something you'd like to do
alright thx
Yes, upgrading the components to the next class up appears to really help with resilience of the ROC. If you don't upgrade, be sure to swap out the ROC every two or three mining trips before the components fail.
Also, upgrades are pretty cheap for the ROC and they can be found at Omega at the Commons in New Babbage.
The Prospector is the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs in this game. It prints money
In two evenings, I made 16 runs (grant it, I'm not a greenie using it) and made over 3.5M aUEC
You can figure every time you go out in a Prospector you are making from 230K to 275K aUEC per trip
a
mining in space or in planets?
because ik a decent bit of roc mining but not much from the prospector
Both
They are very similar unless you use modules.
One bit that is different is the extraction though.
You extract from the smaller rocks instead of having them fly onto the ground.
Also replace the mining head with the lancet.
Would anyone be down to show me the ropes to mining? im new and confused lol
today I find a shit load of laranite any good?
Anyone have the aaron's halo rings image? I can't find it
anyone wanna mine quant with me?
Why is the refinery ship the "Expanse"? Shouldn't they have named that the Crucible or Vulcan?
i got 2 big rocks of quant if someone wants to join in i cant crack it alone
how does one spot mineable minerals for ROC in lyria? Are all <3km signals minerals and then just need to be scanned from close up?
you want quant yes?
No. Minerals for ROC mining. For Quant i've got prospector and mole
which minerals do you want to mine?
Hadanite, others are not worth it
lyria is not a good choice for that
yes you are right. My bad I meant Aberdeen :c
daymar aberdeen
spent too much time in lyria lol
yeah, i used to mine with a roc but i realise that roc is more unstable than the quant XD
haha yeah i get that lol
I wanted to get two ROCs and go for some adventures with my mate. Just with the new angle scanning, I get all that for Quant. Just wanted to ask for easy mineral spotting
if you are scanning try changing the fov and see if you have found a patch or a single rock
ok i looked it up. rocks that pop between 3/4km are minerals and over are ores. case closed
can i please have some help with scanning rocks
no matter how close i get or how long i hold the scan
i can NEVER get RS information
what do i havr to press??
you needto press V to go into scan mode
M to get mining laser oot and point at rock at around 500m
are you in a ROC or a ship when trying to scan?
im in a ship
i saw on youtube videos people get an "RS" signature from ages away
and i cant get that to happen
you need to be in mining mode not scanning mode
unless you are using different technique then I dont know.
is it okay to link a video here?
are those the vids where they narrow the angle to get the longer range?

at around 3:30 ish he scans it from miles away and gets "RS" signature
i mine 99% of times in AAron halo. with new angle scanning you can see what rock it is from 12km away. made me nearly a multi millionaire. This vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLOx_bfg_eM
This video covers the latest surveying techniques in Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.1 and how they can be used in the Aaron Halo to maximize your surveying efficiency, classify asteroid type from up to 12 kilometers away, and diagnose unscannable asteroids before they ever get in visual range.
Active Ping Angle Tuning video: https://youtu.be/vz8TOCUa...
this shows u the type so quant is q type for example
but u will still have to get closer to see if it is actually quant??
and so basically u dont use "V" anymore?
yes you do. But i noticed the small details like instability will come up at around 4km and anything with 7.0 and over in instability is a good rock worth coming in closer to otherwise just fly by
No need for V anymore
it worked for me thus far
but i encourage you to observe those stats and make your own assumptions
okay
Incase you needed to know what rock is worth mining
thanks very much
is 15% quant worth mining?
someone told me dont go below 30? is that right?
yeah 30% is really the minimum
if you look at that table if rock has a mass of 5000 it needs to be 32% minimum to fully fill your prospector.
Store it, unequip it and equip it again. Bugs out sometimes
ffs
Whats the math behind it? Isnt it mass x % and that divided by 50?
how do i stop the asteroid from damaging my ship when they crack open?
Im not sure about the math, I just use that table lol
Nevermind it is that. I just figured it out
Don't let it go to red even for one bit. If you do hit reverse and wait for the rock to cool down
btw is the mole completely broken or is there a workaround
Borked to death atm
damn aight
this would be easy if it actually let me buy the modules i want
:) I don't use any modules for Aaron, just Lancet. All rocks in Aaron are at max of 5122 mass which you can crack without mods
i have this i want stampede
if you have issue with the green zone get brandt module
and honestly, go blow up the prospector, claim it so it is at a factory setting and equip the modules again
when i buy modules from a shop and they go to my local inventory
do i have to go back there
to get them??
or is there anyway i can access them from elsewhere
Should be easier when they fix the terminals
Don't need a chart it's pretty simple math. divide the % by the difference of 5000 and that's the scu.
ie 5000/50*0.32 = 32 scu. 4612/50*0.34=31.3616 scu. 8000/50*0.47 = 75.2 scu.
can eyeball it easily knowing 1% of 5000 is 1 scu.
hi
when i crack open quantanium
do i only wanna grab the stuff that is 100% quantanium?
or do i grab everything??
grab quant first
but i do get everything?
you can only refine one thing and rest is discarded, so if you pick up quant and quartz, when you refine quant it will discard quartz
The goal is to fill up 100% of Quant, but depending on the crack and % Quant you might not get that
cos some of these booulders are like 100% inert materials
100% inert cracks are the best! Beacuse that often mean a good crack 😄 (AKA other will be pure(er) Quant)
You can refine multiple things in the refinery from the same load, but, the extra cost and time for low value materials make it often not worth it. And you have to ship the load too. So unless it's like borase or similar i just don't
how can i check when my quant gonna go bang bang
And later yellow warning sign and alarm, and then red and alarm
okay cool thanks
so if my ship doesnt die
do i keep the brandt and surge moules
modules
or do i have to keep replacing them??
Until the charges are spent (5 charges)
i see
Then they kinda explode off your ship, literally
and rest stations fixed when??
does that damage me??
Wjhat?
no
u cant buy modules from the refine stations atm
terminals will be fixed with patch. End of june
i literally
am gonna ubinstall this game
i landed
tried to get elevator
get stuck
and cant dock it
can't dock?
You need to better explain
If your ship is landed, and you've encountered a bug, you should be able to return to menu and ship should be automatically stored. Unless that bugs out too.
There are lots of bugs in this game, and if you have low tolerance for it, this might not be the game for you.
i landed it on a landing pad
and when i pressed the elevator button i got stuck inside the walls of CRU
so i couldnt go inside to store it
ESC- Return to menu, login again, when you come back, check terminal, too see if ship is stored
If so, just go to refinery as normal
^^ if it's landed it should store when you exit to main menu
but will the cargo still b there
If it's stored, yes.
thats the thing it isnt
If you need to claim it, no.
its landed, not stored
Have you checked the terminal?
so i would need to press "store" on the console
Please re-read what we said
before i couldnt check the terminal - i was stuck in space
bruh the time is ticking get that ship stored
cause only wheels will stay on landing pad
exactly its why i just held backspace
which refining method gives the most profit/money
idc about cost or time
dynix, will take about 40hrs for 32scu Quant
okay, thanks v much
have they patched the thing where if u spam left click u make multiple orders??
haha not heard that one
