I don't think it'll be as useful on moons/planets (since in general 2+ stacks means quant more or less) BUT, you can scan asteroid types in the halo as far out as 11k m. This way you can pass on clusters that aren't quant.

You can buy it directly in the store, it is physically there too, so approaching it allows you to buy it, but i think the orbital stores are missing helmet, so Lorville it is.

Where you go depends entirely what you prefer. The amount of Quantanium is the same in both. And depending on your RNG you'll find the same good or bad rocks.
Lyria however has the potential for bigger rocks that need Gadgets or modules. In the Halo you won't find a rock that isn't breakable by the Lancet.
Well... and theres Risk-Reward ...you have the potential of more Quantanium but the high risk of pirates (depending on your location and time of day) ... The Halo is 99.9% safe
Both locations have ther pros and cons. Best is to try to mine in both locations for a few days and see what you ultimately like more.

Prospector scouts and brakes the ROC-Rocks, the ROC scoops the gems. Well... and the Cutty is just a ROC taxi 😆

The trick is to have the Prospector break the rocks. It literally takes only seconds. The ROC just needs to scoop.

If you keep the power to zero and turn the laser on and off, you can break those rocks. They overheat super quick, so it takes a little practice to not scatter gems everywhere, but its possible. Broke some of those rocks myself when I was bored because I didn't find any good Quant-Rocks on Lyria. xD

Started out with 900K AUEC after mining Hadanite on my ROC for three days. I rented a Freelancer for seven days to go ROC mining. Landed the Freelancer at Aberdeen and my ROC (purchased with aUEC) was nowhere to be found. Learnt that I probably lost it as it was located within my rented Cutlass Black when the rental ended. Tried waiting one day and went to microtech to try and spawn the ROC. It was nowhere to be seen.
Read online that I needed to do a character reset, and that character resets shouldn't remove the rental Freelancer. IT DID. So now I'm about 160K in the hole with nothing to show for it.
Fast forward to this evening. Decided to rent the Freelancer for three days to get restarted on ROC mining after my character reset. At the rental terminal, I swore I selected 3 days rental, but after I clicked confirm, it became a 30 DAYS RENTAL! And now I'm down another 700K or so, with a rental ship that will probably go away with the next character reset that I no doubt will have to do to get rid of a game-breaking bug!!!

Say you’ve got box missions and you pick up 3 that go to the same planet. Would be nice to have some sort of tool that either builds the most efficient route or let’s you build the route on your own
Would really be great for QT as well to set multiple trips. Instead of only one destination.
That moves on to the next trip once you’ve QT’d to the end of your first route.

Aaaannnnnddddd…. today’s really not my day. After the renting incident above, finally got down to a Hadanite mining session. As I was approaching the mining station in my rented Freelancer, I lost control of it on approach and it crashed with a full load of Hadanite in the ROC.
Man, the Freelancer flies like a pig compared to the Cutlass. And it’s a tighter fit for the ROC. I may just end up getting the Cutlass at this rate!

I use the Freelancer MAX for all my ROC mining, a fantastic ship (not rentable though). Once you adjust your flying to adjust for the ship, it isn't an issue. She has served me well for years

Adding two things to keep in mind with ROC mining. You will need an escort ship, which you can get from the free fly. It will be needed to carry the ROC. The Second is that you will need the Pembroke Armor. Third you will want to mine on Aberdeen

The rental prospector does just fine but you have to mine in the correct places. Where its going to do its best in in the space mining where astroids generally dont get much over 5k in size. You will want to stay away from QT and go for lessor deposits like Bexalite and Laranite, hell anything above gold is money in the bank
Its not meant to be your end game miner only a temp solution to being able to afford one
Roc mining can be more instant cash but even a rental prospector can be way more profitable once you get your refinery runs and hauling set up

The Hercules Starlifter way outperforms the CAT in all manner. The CAT is a DRAKE so many lover her (or hater her) for that one aspect. The CAT is a good ship, but for pure performance and versatility, the Hercules line is the best. I have the C2 for max cargo

I managed to find my crash site, but the roc was immobile, I eventually figured out I could open the cargo bay on my taurus, land on top of the roc, and it clipped up tinto the bay. then I was able to sell all the gems on my roc lol

Lag is real and it is a killer. It use to be massive issue when this was first rolled out but now it seems to be making a resurgence with the hot mess that 3.17.1 is
The lag is server lag, not data lag
You do not see the overcharge as it is happening because the animation hasn't been updated
One thing I do is oscillate my charge with the laser, if I notice that there is response lag then I back it way off real quick

The MOLE challenges is just one of a long list of issues. They've not even looked at rolling out any hot patches to address these issue so I'm thinking this is all we got until 3.17.2. EVEN the ship duplication issue isn't getting fixed, the vanishing aUEC, the ATC not recognizing ships landing, Etc etc etc. It's a soul sucking mess right now

Having fun while you earn good coin is important. Bounty hunting is a good earner. You don’t need an expensive fighter to do most levels. Mining is a top earner also. You have ship mining which is pricey to get started in because you need two ships. ROC mining is much more affordable and offers good earning also.

One thing you can do, if the Andromeda isn't tired to your game package, is cash it back to the store for credit and get the Taurus with 10yr insurance (often considered equal to LTI). Or buy a cheap LTI ship and CCU up to the Taurus
CGI might only offer the better insurance with warbond buys, if so, then but a cheap token to upgrade

The Andromeda is a fine ship, the Taurus is scaled down and not near as nice. It might be best to just buy her in-game rather than spend real dollars on her

If you got the 30k error when crashing. Any cargo that was transferred should be safe. Though that is only if you retrieve not claim the ship.

Hey where ever it says retrieve. Don’t claim the ship. So if you have to go somewhere to retrieve the ship and not claim it do so. So if it says you can retrieve at your current location you should be fine. Claiming is what will wipe cargo if stored.
