Did they nerf mining or something in the last patch? rocks dont seem to appear until you're right on top of them now, the ship scanner also doesnt seem to work until you're also face to face with them. So it's super duper slow trying to find the right rocks now. Half the signatures i get from pinging are gems or nothing. Seems to be no way to find out if its a pair of rocks until you're right in front of it now. Crazy slow and tedious compared to before overall.

I only found out today there are active/passive modules available. What would your suggestions be for a total mining newb for a passive modules? I think starting off passives would be easier, so I don't get overwhelmed 🙂

Personally, I prefer passive components as you dont have to replace hem after X amount of uses. Yes, their slightly less powerful, but I love them still. My personal recommendation for Passive modules are 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3

Try brandt, surge and stampede mate. They are 5 use per module then gone, be aware if u don’t fully use the module it keeps wateva charges u left them on. They are quite cheap

Arrive at planet, fly down to the surface and do a 360 scan

You should get a bunch of contacts but no clue on what they are

Turn your scan range aaaaaall the way down to like 2'

Look directly at one of the boxes and ping it again with the super narrow radius of like 2'

If it returns a signal (a single signal) it's just a rock
2 signals, it's a double
A cluster is a cluster (doubles and clusters are what you want for Quantanium)
If it just does not return a signal then it's most likely ROC minables

If you don't have Freelancer Max at least, I'd say don't bother. It's miniscule money compared to pretty much everything else

You only get qualifiers from the guild. Money is in hunting for corporate security

You should have at least a qualifier for each one pop anywhere in the system, and once you do that, you'll get missions from them as long as you are near their planetary system

I just left there, I got bad rolls of the dice. I found plenty of Quantainium but all below 10%

Ok... my current Mining-Meta for the Halo:

• Fly to a Halo-Spot of your Choosing, I'd recommend mid-density
• Point towards ARC-L1 and start at 70% of max speed
• Ping at 180° angle and change course towards the Opportunity markers
• Keep pinging until you see how many Rocks are in there
• If there's only one rock or 3, just fly towards another Marker
• If it's 2 or more than 3 head there until you can see what type it is.
• Slow down only for Q-Types or singles you've seen close by that are obviously Q-Types

in a rental, in the Halo, go for any ore above Agricium. BUT Gold, Diamond and Titanium are good if you're going to do volume

The Prospector is 2.2m(?) and the Lancet is 20k. That is actually all you need for the Halo to mine

For a cheap cargo ship, I'd recommend getting the MAX after you get the Prospector.

Since you have the cutty, you can do the illegal monitor missions, those pay 20K a pop. Key here is to find all 3 monitors FIRST before you start shooting them

I would also rent a ROC (only 4K to rent) and use your cutty. You will need to get the Pembroke armor set (about 15K) but you can make about 200K aUEC per run with the ROC on Aberdeen
