They only really show up when you're 1-3km out so if you're going too fast you'll overshoot

Aberdeen is the best for mining with a ROC. You will need the Pembroke armor set also. The small gem deposits only show up when you are less than 1,200 meters from then. Hadinite is what you want to seek.
If the scan fails, you can visually zoom in and see the color of the vain
Hadinite is sort of pinkish, iirc
You will need to fly real low, ignore anything beyond 2K from you (most all the returns are the large deposits)

A full ROC of hadanite is like 200k+, it's not a huge money maker but for a low investment rental wise its not too bad at all

Always found it too hard to find deposits for ROC mining. Takes too long to hunt them down and they are too far between

Arial had a scanning issue, but 3.17 should fix that. Aberdeen, statically from CIG, is the highest concentration of hadanite in the Stanton system. You find hadanite on the hot planets.

when you see square marker from distance like 7-10km it will turn into rock marker. ignore those. those are big rocks for ship mining. correct deposits will show up as a squares around 4km. if its below 4km and it is still square - thats what you are looking for. follow it and when you are bout 1.5km it will turn into diamond marker.

yes, freelancer max is good for that. its wide so you can fit ursa rover, so probably also ROC DS ? but who would do that 😄 stick to basic ROC. and for that cutty is more than enough. With nomad if you have friend you can even mine it directly from its cargo 😄

I CCU'd my MAX to a Taurus (was only $10) but I missed the MAX so much that I bought one in game. But the Taurus is great for everything else

30k and so on... there is not much you can do... just hope you are on healthy server. what you can do is join to server where your friends are. and remember where you are mining. if you get disconnected, you might try to join your friend to get to the same server, and your ship still might be there.
I keep everything in ROC... until its full and then sell everything. crystals are not stacked and there is hundreds of them... so GL with drag n drop them all 😄 but tripperdan mentioned some cargo boxes... which idk what is/how to do... but there its a good chance it is not even a thing anymore. or ? 😄

Taurus packs a punch, is a great medium hauler and overall excellent ship. I don't regret getting one. It is my main Quantainium hauler

3.17 introduces a number of the backhaul services that will support the cargo refactor. As they put it last year talking about it (or year before), this change touches everything in the game. The new streaming services will be key for server meshing, cargo refactor, etc

Trade is profitable and repeatable, but there is an art to it. More is caught than taught. Jack Axton did a Trade Refresher Course that is pretty close to the optimal of what you can expect in trade for now. It's from about two builds ago, but valid.

I just finished extracting a chunky rock and I found a big piece of uncracked rock under everything and made a game time decision to take a shot at breaking it down with volatile cargo on board and I pulled it off, plus had my cleanest landing into wide Forrest with time to spare! yeah, the "lore" was it being unstable from being mined so maybe there is "magic juice" that causes it go to stable after taken in possession by the Expanse refinery (or any other refinery ship) sort like it is stable when the ship gets stowed on the pad.

as I understand it - to run a 2nd ship in the same location you would either need to have a second account/computer to control it, or somehow be able to taxi it to your location to hop in/out of to collect the ore? Unless you could use it like a fueling ship and collect the ore in your prospector and deliver it to your parked expanse nearby.
I'm super new, and this is all speculative. I don't understand the benefits yet for getting this ship if running a solo op.

most likely, any weapons shop and armour shop. I'd recommend an AR for your weapon, take a bunch of clips. Not sure there will be security but make sure u dont shoot the area's guards or instant level 3 crime stat ( been there a few times myself )

And last night, I found an asteroid chunk that was 100% Quantanium and filled my cargo hold. I imagine it's not all that uncommon to find a chunk of 100% quantanium, but damn it if I didn't I feel like I lucked out by finding it on only my second mining run haha

The "VK-00" if you have only short routes. Very fast but sucks A LOT of fuel.
I personally prefer the "Atlas" only a little slower, but brings you pretty much across the System without the need to refuel. (This drive is only available at HUR-L5 atm)

I fly my prospector out, fill it, backspace kill myself, fly my Expanse out, transfer from prospector to Expans, fill my prospector again, repeat, fly the Expanse back to port, then claim my Prospector to lose the modules, or pay for a ride back to it, or take a cheap ship back to it, come home in the Prospector, and claim the cheap ship.
And if its team mining... "Here's my ore, bro. Pay me for it eventually if it calculates that."
I love the idea of the Expanse, just trying to mentally work out how it even works operationally.

best way is to take a mole + scouting prospector
so mole takes all the big rocks and prospector gets the smaller not worth it rocks for the mole

The rental can mine up to 5000 mass and thrives on abburteen with a SC of 36 I think, and if your mining Taranite (refined) that has to be close to 100k

its not terrible - the bottleneck is when the pickup points dont have enough of the ideal supply - bigger ship means you can buy more of the cheap stuff and get a good profit
id say its typically around 10-20% margins

so like i said not bad, decent amount of risk - but fairly safe (just know if you blow up 1 in 10 its net 0)

The only smuggler ship currently that evades scan is the mercury star runner with its smuggler hold
The other ships if caught and scanned will give crime stats
