I have 500k credits and am pretty new to SC
Could someone help teach me how to effectively do cargo/mining so i could get some solid money?
do you have a prospector?
Uhh whats that
im very new sorry
its a solo mining ship, it is the best payout for mining
hand mining and roc mining are good starter but the real money is made ship mining
Could you link me a video on how to get started? And about how much will it all cost
im in vc2
Yoo can someone show me how to run cargo
What ships do you have
Cutlass black
My experience with running cargo to profit on cutty black may be described by word: poorly
What can I do to grind money
Can you help me do 1
I flew for a min and landed back and that all I've done since I got this game
C2
starter cutty black and no experience
Bruh
I’m at work. Start with box missions, from 3k you go to 8k and then for 45k a mission
Go to delivery in your missions
Alright preciate it
Hi Capone, Welcome to the 'Verse!!! It is a steep learning curve and is not really a game yet ... look at it as a sandbox demo. The Cutlass Black is a great ship. I call her the "Swiss Army Knife" of Star Citizen. She is good at everything, Great at nothing.
I would say, try Box missions first. That will get you out and about in the verse. They are a little buggy, but it is a start.
From there, Bounty Hunting might be a good way to go. For your cutty, you will want to replace the ballistic guns on her with matching laser repeaters. So, remove those GT-215 and put on two more CF-227 Badgers. You can find those at CRU-L5, Area18 or New Babbage.
They will cost about 6K aUEC each.
If you do the illegal monitor mission, it will pay 20K aUEC per mission. To do this, when arrive at the area, ping to find the illegal monitors (there are 3 of them). Do Not Shoot it yet, but get within 2k distance and a persistent pip will pop up on the monitor so that you can find it again. Find all 3 first. Then blow them up as fast as you can. You do not have to engage the ships that come when you start to blow them up. You will get paid 20k as you jump away from there.
Also, do not get too close to the satellite, it will fire missiles at you.
Finally, first thing when you log in, accept the Call to Arms mission. You can "untrack" it but that will give you an extra bonus for each baddie you splash.
Also, this website will help with ship info
https://www.erkul.games/live/calculator
Is the starlifter a good ship to buy if you want a ship to do large cargo runs?
Yes, the C2 or M2 are both great ships
C2 is the king of cargo atm. The Hull C later this year will take that title away
Buy a HUGE margine
Yeah i saw a picture of the hull C.
The Hull A will be proof of concept that is coming in the next patch
Cool
Trade is going to go through MASSIVE changes this year with the cargo refactor. We will (I anticipate) see trading move to or ADD mission based core with reputation being corner stone.
When 3.17 drops we will lose refinery jobs right? If so, how much warning do we get before the patch? I've started doing the long jobs, but might temporarily switch back to quicker ones to prevent losing several loads
yeah all jobs will be wiped
and you will usually know quite a bit in advance
That's helpful. I've only been here since 3.15 so haven't been through many patches. Just 3.16 and 3.16.1
As long as I have a few days
I would suggest when the possibility of 3.17 going LIVE (which, I think, is still many weeks away), plan to clear your refinery jobs as they complete. Also do the Ferron method for shorter times. Once it got to "dang, gonna drop any moment" I switched over to trading and other options like ROC mining that didn't have the risk of loosing cash in a wipe. When just two refinery jobs can be worth over 500K aUEC, that is just too much on the table to be lazy about it.
Are bugged ore deposits in the asteroid belts a common issue? I feel like 70% of the things I run accross I either can't scan or I get a RS Signature:XXXXX description.
Star citizen in its current state bugs and all is more of game than any other game I've ever played. Just my opinion though. But yeah trading isn't worth the time if your using anything smaller than a cat atm.
Hey Guys, could you recommend upgrades for ROC to make it better and melt rocks faster ?
is cargo at all worth before getting a C2 or caterpillar?
I can regularly get around 120k per run in a cat. What ship realistically like a max or taurus? Cat has 564 scu. Be dropping to 174 or 120 scu with either of those. Can make about 200k per hour running bounties so worth it not really in its current state for $
Absolutely my dude. I have runs that can make me approx. 100k-120k per run. Each run takes about 15 mins and the only thing I actually have to pay for is fuel (dirt cheap rn anyway)
Just be careful on what your buying and that the location(s) your selling it to has enough stock capacity to buy it
I only just learned mining and am looking to learn how to do cargo
I saw someone saying they rent a constellation andromeda and do cargo runs with that.
Is that viable @glacial dagger
Viable, sure. It does depend on how much time your able to sink into it. I recommend learning/researching a potentially good route before hand, then rent it for a day and see how long you can stay at it, running the same/a few routes over and over again
@teal iris
what are you using to find this info
What a full cargo hold of laranite in andromeda will profit
Uexcorp.space
Seems to stay a little more up to date on current in game prices and locations over sctradetools. Good for planning routes
@teal iris Go careful with Laranite, dont go getting your hopes up that you will make all of that in a single run. Laranite is a very popular commodity rn, meaning there will be very little stock at almost any given time
I recommend getting as much Laranite as you can at a location, then filling t he rest of your cargo with something a little less valuable but can still make you money. I like Getting as much Laranite as possible in one go, then topping up with Titanium. If no Laranite, all Titanium
is mining better?
Yes and no
Yes because it's pretty much free money, no because it can take a while/many people to really start raking in the big bucks with Quant mining
I make 175-250k (prospector) per rock takes me 30 minutes tops to get rock in refinery if the server is rough with a 24 hour turn around time to be able to sell the refined material. I do 2-3 rocks first thing when I get on. After a couple of days you'll always have half a million plus you can go cash in whenever. When they nerfed the refresh rates of valuable commodities trading took a hit. Going back to my original point of it not being worth it at the moment unless you have a good size cargo ship. You'll never fill a large ship with laranite right now. Mining may take a hit soon but if you can get the starting cost down it is exponentially better than trading right now if your trading with anything other than the top few cargo ships in game.
so in mining
do you have to sell the refined materials
or do you just get the money once the refinery is done
When mining quatanium. Does it disapear when you store your ship?
Just landed at the refinery station. Stored the ship, went to the refinery, and the quantanium wasnt showing up in either sell menu or the refinery menu
You need a cargo hauler to take the refined ore to a city
Any recomendations on ROC upgrades to make it better and so it melt thru rocks faster?
Yeah you have load it, transport refined materials and sell
does anyone have a mole and want to do some mining?
Thanks man I really appreciate it
There is a group that regularly mines that will hire you if you want to join them. Let me know and I can link you to the boss
that sounds neat sure, link me with him.
I'm driving at the moment, I will give you that link when I get back. Are one of the other regulars can link you to Cross
alright im not in a big rush
@thin escarp runs a team. You do need to be at least 18yr old. Excellent group and they rule the mining system
alright thanks for telling me I will shoot him a DM
can't upgrade the ROC laser unfortunately
I always ping again once i get the rock sshowing up. But yea... it's very common to get dud rocks. If you get more than a few in a row jump 10k away and try again
Asteroid belt has a sync issue that only server meshing can fix (according to Todd Papy). So it is 100% depended upon a healthy server. Brunevde mentioned a great idea of doing a short jump (10,000 Km) to see if that solves the issue. If it does not then a different server would be in order. On Lyria you will not encounter any (or hardly any) scan issues, so i might be the best place mine for quantainium, though it does introduce some issues of its own.
Same
After one jump I usually bedlog
so im just lurking and testing out gallog and i found this. lol dont know if its true
good luck getting more than 30scu of it
The in game buy prices tend to vary so you won't often get the max amount
I wrote down some of the base prices for things so I know when it's a good deal
Anyone who uses pings on public servers should be sentenced.
Like everyone is mostly a ping that people are getting bans for xD or mostly it's turned off
Every reasonable being turns them off in a first place, but still - he did bad things and should feel bad.
Is there anywhere to buy drugs from? The waste management and the orphanage trade centers were bugged and didn’t find my ship
Or, alternatively, what would be the best route for a 315p?
How much money can be made ROC mining?
Full basic roc of Hadenite gave me 230 or 260k dont remember exactly.
ok thanks
GDI I finally find a cluster of ore and they are all duds. Please help me space Jesus.
Is it worth trying the other servers for less buggy mining?
ROC mining "works" sort of but has some issues since 3.14 when CIG changed the scan/ping mechanics. Now the gem deposits do not show up on ping unless very close to the ship (within 1200 meters) while you get tons of noise returns from the large ore deposits all they way out to 15K meters.
Then there is the scan problems, sometimes you have to verify the deposits by zooming in and looking at the color in the veins of the rocks.
A few other issues, but that's the current state of ROC mining
ok
Also, the gems sometimes roll into other objects/terrain and have to be left behing. Same with any surface mining though. (from my experience)
What's a good loadout for a prospector?
How much time it was?
Mine
Based on blowing rocks and killing my powerplant
That’s why shields and powerplant those
Lancet is for quant mining right?
Yes
Nice, I'll give it a shot. I mined the asteroid belt with a rental prospector now I finally have one of my own.
Rental is awful
Laser installed
So I've heard of modules for helping out. Those are consumables?
Some are
You may do it with 0 modules
If you claim your ship modules are gone
So money wise best without modules
Because it’s SC
way too long 🙂 approx 4 hours as i was picky and ignored other gems.
Prospector gives same in half an hour or less
well... first i need to earn money for it 😄
Yep
working on it... slowly but almost there. 1.6m on my account rn.
Wait where is the module to purchase mining stuff on HUR-L2? I'm at the refininery deck store already and the laser I want isn't on the wall and the items don't show up at the kiosk.
Oh, nvm. You have to scroll through the tabs on the top of the vendor screen
any money in scrap? hate leaving a station empty.....
going back to Lorrville
never let it be said 600i cant carry anything
you jinxed it
I just did my first Quant run and the ore alone was 70k for about 20min worth of my time. Awesome.
anyone does know what the best planet to mine quantanium is?
I just tried Lyria and I found 2 nodes cloe to each other in about 3-4min of looking but I probably just got lucky.
Lyria is the best place for quantanium! And I usually go to mining facility SPAL 2 on Lyria. After that just fly in a straight line until you find two or more rocks really close to each other. That is quantanium.
I have issues with scanning on Lyria. I have to get up right next to nodes to scan them with the mining interface.
Yeah. I don't think there is any way to fixt that. if a rock refuses to scan i sometimes shoot it with the laser and then it scans
Thanks for the reply, i wanted to prove it to my friends because they still said Clio is the best place for Quantanium.
You do not want
UEX are also a pretty decent tool, as is SC Trade Tools
Alright thanks homie
No worries my dude, enjoy
Just made 1mil in about 4 hours farming quant for the first time. Not bad at all.
Welcome to the addition of making your SC dreams come true. Your ratio will also improve as time goes on, and that could be close to 1M per 1.5 hrs or better.
Last time I made over 600K in three runs
anyone know where I can find a Roc to buy ingame?
New deal on loreville
My buddy says he cant see it to buy
Is he using the displays
It should be there, get him to filter by the manufacturer “Greycat industrial”
when did you check last?
Can I only jettison my prospector load when it starts beeping?
Well, my volatile timer just went negative,
Mind sharing your favorite mining spots? Bc I can find a single quant rock over 10% for like 30 min.
@indigo wolf i find alot of mine in band 4 of the belt
i do have a mining guide pinned in this channel everyone
aswell as i can dm you guys my scouting guide and my mole mining guide for crew.
Everything I see pinned outdated af
i know it says 3.16
Dm me recent info please
but
its not old.
nothing has changed based on my video for the information in it.
the pdf file
@deep vector
Thx mate
Is it worth renting a prospector and mining for the top 6 ores minus the Quantainium or just stick to ROC mining until I have 2.5mil to buy a prospector + upgrade to be able to mine Quantainium?
sadly renting a prospector is not worth it
I did some roc mining and some bunker pewpew in between
yeah rented prospector mining is not a fun experience if you're actually wanting to make money
You won’t find a lot of those top 6
Less than quant
Lol
Band 1 of the Halo has been very productive for me. I did have a time in Band 6 where I found tons of Quantainium asteroids but the dice was hitting all 2% rocks not matter what. Sometimes the dice gods just hate you and you will not get a good roll
Ok cool thanks
My personal best is 5. Density beats all)
Literally when I dropped from 5 for 50k km - emptiness around, lots of rocks and none useful
What is the best mining head for a solo prospector quant mining
Know anything for ROC mining with a cutlass black?
Asking a question for a friend; but if you happen to afk on an outpost landing pad, and just happened to load up a cargo full of cargo; Can you claim your ship from somewhere, or do you lose the cargo through a claim?
Lancet MH1
how far is band 1 from CRU L1
So I loaded my ship up with Quant to sell, but when I landed my ship it was empty. I am hoping it is just a visual bug.
CRU L1 to Arc L3 stop at 12,941,643
ty
Ok thanks
It was a visual bug. Managed to get 350k for one trip with my cutty black. Damn that feels good.
It gets even better
@hollow basin I recommend aberdeen or arial. fly low and fast
go for hadanite.
clusters over 3 are def worth the time to unload etc. I wouldn't mine longer than a hour and a half with the roc before selling due to bugs and sometimes refueling and laser will just stop working
then sell on the same planet. same station you spawned it at.
@silent basin visual bug sadly we can't see our cargo in most ships visually
it's there tho!
sold off 6 mil myself last night
It caught me offguard since it was the first time that happened to me,
haha you aren't alone there
I am saving up for a cargo freighter and I'm starting to get quick at locating mining nodes.
6mil though, what do you even spend your money on?
plenty of ships to try, or you can pick up more than one
I've already bought most ships. So mainly it's used to help make my events run smoothly
I have my own racing leagues etc
@silent basin
Oh nice, that is pretty dope.
pre 3.15 I had 6 moles
testing different loadouts etc
lots of research to keep my mining group the most efficient as possible
right now we pull over a 100 million a month.
Thanks. Thought so. I mined quite a bit of bex last night with a rental but it was hard work, alot harder and less gains than ROC mining.
I guess I just ROC mine until I get 2.5 million and then go for prospector + upgrades.
Claim ship = new ship
You will abandon old and get brand new one so you will lost everything that was in the first ship.
@hollow basin yes. 4 ppl is really solid
1 scout ina fast ship
2 lasers and a pilot
Grab a box delivery mission too. Drop boxes at good rocks and scout can mark a bunch quick and keep trucking.
Yeah, I know. I'm asking why they were able to retrieve a ship from a outpost pad at the station. They afk'd on Arial; woke up on everest, and was able to retrieve the ship full of cargo.
No claim
Maybe it was the last station they where at so it put all his stuff there kinda like if the server 30k they will bring your stuff to the last station you where at with no claim so you don’t loose all your stuff
that would be super cool, saved me my friend from a full cargo loss
check the pinned msgs here
Mining in the Belt is almost 100% server dependent. If get a lot of duds try jumping about 20K Km ans scan again. If it seems still too many duds, then try to find a healthier server.
Duds in Aaron’s Halo won’t be resolved until server meshing gets implemented
Let me know how Band 1 works out for you @quasi dragon
My game crashed while I was dropping off a load of quantainium and when I relogged I was in my hospital gown. I think I just lost 600k+ Fuck me man.
So fucking frustrating.
Had that happen last week, crashed on my way to A18 from ARCL1 and relogged in Hurston lmao. lost all my Quant
Normally for ships, there is a recovery. Just never "Claim" your ship but wait about 15 minutes when logging in so that you can "Retrieve" your ship. Unless it was blown up prior to the crash
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to give it a try the next time. Well hopefully there isn't a next time.
In this game, it's only a matter of time before the next one but the 30K protection actually does work very well. I would also avoid QT around planets, expecially ArcCrop because it's in rough shape quantum jumping wise. I would suggest Jumping to the orbital markers, and finally to Binjini point. From there you can QT safely to Area18 or park at the station and take one of your smaller ships down. The shuttle down option will not be available any longer after this build because they are separating the inventories of the planets from the space stations (bummer).
Man that's lame!
so is the roc upgradeable or not. I see someone recommending upgrades, but another source says the modules don't do anything yet
You can't upgrade the laser and the parts have a limited life cycle( can't repair atm far as I can tell) so no reason to upgrade
@silent basin if your around Saturday I have my massive mining operation at 10pm est we will have 4-9 moles going and we will pull in 15-25 mil.
you will make that back
question since your a mining operation person
can i help haul my buddies mining cargo
or does he have to do it
apologies if it's dumb, still new to SC and learning a bit - buying a taurus soon
anyone mining? I have a mole
He has to do it. You can only load the cargo in to your own ship sadly
ah shame
My game crashed in the beginning of a jump, relogged and found myself loaded on a landing pad of a refinery, had more time left than usual lol. Got impounded right away.
Unfortunately at this time, only owner of refined goods can haul the cargo to market. It will be awesome when we can subcontract haulers but that isn't there yet.
((oops, I didn't see CBB had already replied))
Yeah. I loaded on a landing pad too and got impounded. Crazy. I hadn't been anywhere near that pad, and had landed on others in the interim.
ok, what does this channel say about renting a prospector and mining in a belt or on a planet? That zero to hero made it look maybe more profitable than roc mining, he was getting laranite and he had to process it too.
does claiming a "stored" mining ship from a different location, destroy the mining modules?
mole just QT'd without me, got sent back to my regen location but the ship was stored where I was leaving from.. check it and all the modules are gone
weird.
Yea, if you claim it it resets inventory and modules.
Yes
How come I am never able to see my inventory form A18 at bajini if that’s the case? Or am I missing something
Missing, but doesn’t matter, in 3.17 it’ll be separated
Your ships should be common to both places. I have noticed that I wasn't able to see a module I purchased down in Dumpers on A18 up at Bajini, so I wonder if CIG is applying little hot fixes along and along for issues and changes.
is there a way to tell which turret is which in the mole? 1 was main, now it's right..
that would be a Cross question, I don't run the Mole very often
its working amazing
got over 1 mil in orders already
That's great news, I had been exploring all the bands but stopped when Band 1 was so lucrative. I have yet to test band 8, but I wonder if would be like Band 1 because of being an outer band. Not sure if it'll have the same density of Quantainium, but that would be nice.
where and how? how long?
band 1 quant mining
what is band 1?
and idk how long but its from today
4 hours? 6 hours?
probably just about 1.5 hours
damn bro
possibly 2
if you look at this it shows you all of the bands from the halo
from CRU L1
and just a lancet
all my friends just started the quant mining game, we are getting like 300k for 4 people over 3-4 hours
if you have friends lyria is the best
I'm not sure how to understand that
get one of you to scout and the rest go and mine it
care to hop in a VC and explain it?
Do you start at AR-L3, then make your way to ARc l5?
dude if your team mIning
go to lyria
use my guide
This guide goes over the basics of ship mining. it includes a MOLE Tour, an overview of the HUD and controls, and how to break and extract mineable rocks.

can you sell quant straight to the refinery?
also is there a recomended fit for a mole?
this is just when im solo
Trying to figure out where to Roc mine aswell
@waxen coral I have mole loadouts in my guide pinned in this channel
will rocks despawn?
ROC mining on Aberdeen (best) or Arial (runner up). You will also need the Pembroke armor
If you QT to OM-1 and dive down to the planet from there, it is always daylight because OM-1 marks the north axis of the planet
Aaron's Halo band distances from CRU-L1
Aaron's Halo Bands from ARC-L1
So ive heard that mining is the big money so I am thinking about renting a prospector to just get some cash, what is the best thing to hunt for and best place to find it for a stock prospector to snag?
you will be limited with the rental prospector. You can crack larger rocks in the Asteroid belt than you can on land. Also, you will not be able to crack rocks with Quantainium
You also need a cargo ship to move your refined goods
A cutty black is your smallest ship
Yeah my buddies and I normally go after quant in a mole but I wanted to just do some solo stuff, I have 200k so I have plenty to rent a prospector for a while and then rent a big hauler to move the refined goods
Just not sure what I should be looking for
Here's a video on making a profit with a rental, if interested

Bexilite, laranite, etc
Borase it trash, it normally breaks horribly and so does Heph
Frist column is raw price (selling to refinery if it works) and the second is refined profit

hull a
that was a good episode
Thank you. I was looking for something like this. So many people act like anything less than Quant mining is a waste of time, but as a new player, I'm just looking to make a faster profit than a roc.
I hope it helps. The rental isn't ideal but with the next build we will having mining components that will (I speculate) make the rental actual usable when it wasn't prior.
Your goal is 2.2M aUEC so you can buy your own Prospector at New Deal
So uh, is this something anyone would find useful? Couldn't find anything like it terribly easily and just started slapping together a google sheet that kind of got out of control lol
problem with rental is just how slow it is compared to quant to make a decent profit
way better to spend your time grinding, like, bounties or bunker missions to 2 mil and then you can just go for quant
I think people who are renting aren't comparing it to quant.
like, if everything goes right and you get decent RNG, ship doesn't get damaged whilst mining, you don't bug/disconnect, nobody griefs you, you then wait like 24 hours for it to refine to make just as much profit as you would from a 15/20 minute bunker
as said though mining gadgets should make it better
err, that's only 15k
need to increase rep, 15k is the first tier
ahh, it goes up? Nice, maybe I'll keep doing the bunker missions then. They are kinda fun and the cave missions, I fps mine when clear.
it increases very quick
yeah. I'm only rep 3, but I grind microtech bunkers, they're SUPER easy and I make 60k per one right now, can virtually AFK it too
but I was thinking of just renting a cutlass, I bought a roc the other day.
I believe rep 5 gets 90k per mission
whoa,
its just grinding them is a pain since they are quite buggy
nice, that increase makes it worth then.
yes, often no one spawn or double evelator.
cutlass and ROC mining is pretty fun but also a little frustrating and unreliable. I don't wanna poop on your parade entirely, mining is just a little rough now due to bugs and RNG
although ive not had a problem with them
by all means go for it, just expect frustration and, like, a LOT of inconsistency
well, my main problem with roc mining is driving 20 minutes looking for a rock to mine.
yeah, cutlass helps a lot
that was in a cutlass
christ yeah
luckily getting enough to pay for the cutlass rental isn't a problem.
it's a big issue with all mining
a lot of it is just praying for RNG and flying around bored scanning rocks
but the only time I find a cluster of more than 4 minables, they are all dolorite.
Hadenite only comes in pairs
yeah, pretty much.
how do you afk the Tier 3 bunkers? there's no security there
ok, cool. do the mine missions go up too or just the bunker ones? I sometimes go days without a bunker mission spawning.
there is
there are on minor threat defense, that's tier 3
hmm mine must be bugging out then
the microtech ones do at the very least, 100%, yup
but yeah, bunker missions, sometimes you can just let the guards do the work.
ok, does it make a difference where I do bunker missions. i've been doing in Crusader, and lately hurston. I seem to get more back-to-back missions in hurston. Dunno if that is just rng or what.
I do MT or hurston because the guards are easier to see
i cant remember which it was but either crusader or arc corp was very similar to the enemies
crusader. I kept getting crime stat for not being able to tell the difference.
which reminds me the other reason I went to hurston.
yeeee they're bright white on microtech, super obvious
Ok, cool. Do the clear out the mine missions go up in value too with rep?
is there a way to tell? I Didn't realize the bunkers did
In the rep tab you should see like for MT at least MT Protection Services
and its the rep on the
right???????
whatever one doesnt give you a bonus
well, if only bunkers give the rep, guess I'll specialize then
does rep decay?
no
So where is a good place to mine bexalite?
id say prob daymar
Hey... what can you fit inside a reclaimer? a roc DS?
Hop in to clear my refinery stuff before patch/i forget to do it. Game crashed in quant to sell
full connie of quant lost
Not really rekindling to my desire to start again lol
If not halo lyria
if you're buying rather than renting and want quant, lyria is good as a starter place yes
Band 7 seemed to have a lot of Bexilite, iirc properly
3.17 going LIVE is a long ways off. Not even in open PTU yet.
Really hate to hear about the crash/loss. Consider smaller loads to market based on value. Maybe only 1M aUEC or 500K aUEC at a time.
Lyria is the Motherland of Quntainium
Eh i just knew i woulda forgot to do it cause I was taking a bit of a hiatus. Wouldn't be an issue if the bed logging kicking in actually worked
Saved me a few times with crashes/ dcs in the prosp
I found that bed logging will work your first time logging in you just let it time out and crash back to the main menu. Close the game completely go back in and then try to access. The main thing is to never log off on a planet surface
The little hick ups and hard crashes won't be as big a deal when persistence actually works
Just burned me a tiny bit lol. Not actually that mad or upset. Just humorous cause I've run 6m of crud and this is the first time it's happened
just rent a prospector
If you dont explode and lost your ship you can keep it how long you want
Renting a prospector is pointless, use a ROC and save up that way
From one good rock you will get 250k
even ROC mining is questionable, it's definitely the way to go if you want to grind to prospector PURELY by mining but it's really frustrating to use right now with the ore getting scattered and the RNG involved.
is there a reason why the mining laser on my prospector won't turn on? It was working fine earlier and now when I left click it doesn't turn on
I'm looking at a scanned rock I want to mine
Any rock you find for the ROC is going to be 135/per unit and up so its really not that bad in a decently fast ship flying low
But the only absolutely sucky thing is when the coolers life goes out
or the power plant idk
and the whole thing overheats or powers off
Anyways, is someone have a good cargo guide for beginners with small ship ?
with cargo and trade working as it does right now, the best admittedly negative advice is to not even try it if you're in a small ship lol
For small cargo (<15SCU), look into doing some drugs
And learn the unmarked locations
Oh., Look into running a Laranite/Titanium mix
That or get into mining and then haul your refined quant
I already tried quant minig but its super boring
best place to sell Medical Supplies?
I have no idea but maybe CRU-L1
Where I could buy and sell laranite for the best profit
Have a look at some popular trading apps like Gallog, UEX and SC Trade Tools
its websites ?
yh
I loaded my ship with medical supplies at some point last night....can't even remember where I was....just wondering the best place to sell them for profit....I'm guess it was a mining site....don't want to take a bath on them
Have a look at some popular trading apps like Gallog, UEX and SC Trade Tools
good advice....just don't have the time to research....I'll just dump them next place I land....thanks 🙂
????? Then why buy them?
ended a bunker mission and dropped off my last package.....was really late....always like to fill the cargo hold before I go back to my station.....drunk buying? lol
Lol. Well, if you still cant be bothered to look up a place, try Lorvile CBD
honestly I forgot they were there lol I'll try Lorville thanks

hence why I reccomend running stuff like small amounts of drugs when you don't have much cargo capacity
@tender quiver hello😋
HI
Check with @thin escarp and his team, they have a huge mining operation where you can earn and learn. The only caveat is that you have to be (18?, not sure) or older.
unlike the general consensus here that "You can't earn money in a rental Prospector" you actually can. You won't earn like you can with one you own that can run Quantainium, but you can earn and learn in a rental Prospector. Not huge dollars but you will make table and more.
But since you find mining super boring, and you have an FL, you can do bounties and earn decent coin. As to trade, unless you have a C2 or CAT, Trade isn't an option in this current build
quant mining boring... lmao
@hollow sedge I def can help ya make enough to get that prospector. in 4 hours 50 minutes I'll be running a massive mining op. we will pull in 15-25 million auec.
over a couple hours.
no ship is needed. just be 18+ and a will to learn.
where/when? that sounds fun
TF
Teach me senpai
dm me if you wanna come
@fair slate fr fr
If it's what I think it is, good luck trying to fill up on it
@glacial dagger yep
Lemme guess, you tried filling up on Laranite?
Tier 2 box deliveries is the most you'll make from cargo in a small ship even though it's not really cargo trading lol
holy crap. I mine a lot, but get nothing like that
Cross has a mining consortium of players. They run multiple MOLE teams along with scouts. They can pull from 10M aUEC to 20M aUEC in one night. They've got it down to a science now.
Can't direct message cross Xd
wow, that is cool. I just solo in my mole
Tag him here and maybe he can DM you
Solo in a MOLE isn't a small job, you can earn good coin doing that. I only use a Prospector
oh, I do earn decent money, just not nearly the same scale
yeah having a fleet of fellow miners must make a mint
I am sitting at 6 mil because of it, think that was over like a week though
Well, scale is an option you have in a MOLE but requires sharing the wealth too
yeah, I solo party because I am in a tiny org (need to find a new one, despite really liking the people I play with) and also so I do not have to share 🙂
Cross didn't start off with 6 MOLE teams, he worked up to that point
I've done alot of crewed Mole and while we made around $1.5M/Hour once you divide that by 3 it's $500K/Hour which is worse than a solo Prospector. Having said that though the fun factor of a Mole team is way higher
that and pausing for a bathroom break doesnt stop the whole operation Xd
lol
yeah, solo mole can be amazing, I have done single haul with 88scu of quant, can not do that in a prospector 🙂
but still solo, so no bathroom breaks, especially after you start sucking it up
dang, I was hoping to get in and do some testing but doesn't seem it's gonna happen. Guess I'll make a few runs into the Halo
yeah my best runs have been solo Mole but I still prefer to go with a small crew. Prefer the fun factor over solo farming lately
yeah as for me being still rather fresh, i get a education in mining, make some possible cash, make the guy teaching some cash, and score some good/fun conversation. def a win win
SC is definitely more enjoyable when playing in a group
agreed, that is why I need to find a larger org
@north oyster I have around 10 we use on Saturday but over 90 moles in my org. and 325 prospectors
RIP to the poor dude on Latrine duties
long as that lad is making his cut, he'll take that crap Xd
@minor bobcat ur not accepting friend requests
sorry forgot i disabled that
had a bunch of scam requests a while back spamming me
so i just turned it off
back on now Xd
@thin escarp try again when your able. should work now@_@
I figured I had old stats, LOL
i have a mining guide in this channel
with several different loadouts
i got a couple passive ones on there
How much SCU will the Hull B hold?
Exacts aren’t known but it looks like 384 SCU. Early literature on it sometimes said 1024 SCU.
B? It’s C was above 1000
If me and a friend rented a prospector each and we mined the same rock, would that be enough to get through and mine Quantainium rocks?
yes! you could mine quantanium. Not the biggest ones but it works
question for halo quant miners. do you find it more profitable to prospect solo or use a Mole if you have to split it 50/50? what if the Mole was a three man team, so it was split 33/33/33?
I'm doing that test right now. If you can deal with the issues the mole will introduce as a solo miner, it will always be more profitable due to the increased cargo space
"profitable" do you included fun or just crédits ?
anyone looking to do cargo or some mining?
strictly credits
im about to hop in my mole
i would say it's more profitable to do prospector solo, more fun with a crew
@potent tinsel I would say two prospectors make more money than splitting 3 in a mole. But it's just a guess
but if you have an amazing crew, scouts, etc, then the crew could be slightly ahead
@potent tinsel Prospector (with the good loadout) will brings you more crédits.
With a Mole you will have fun, faster fracturation and extraction + more cargo.
I guess nos thé best is a Mole with one pilote and two miners
but now i'm using the mole, solo as if i'm in the propsector... getting some nice returns, last 3 were all over 32scu with the peak at 59
interesting; tyvm. ive crewed for other's Mole and have acquired about 4mil so im trying to decide if i should get prospector or keep saving for mole.
here are my pros/cons for prospector vs mole. prospector pros: easier for solo, no up and down ladders, can use the mining laser to scan (scan mode is inconsistent). cons: ui sucks, cargo space
Buy a Mole, some coffee and beers. Get a crew and enjoy 😉
mole pros: cargo space, crew, 3 laser config, mining ui. cons: solo is tough, desync issues without a pilot, up and down ladders, takes a bit getting used to the issues
i'd go prospector first, learn how to crack big rocks solo, you can always help a crew with a prospector too. earn a lot and save up for a mole as having both is nice 🙂
I can't wait for the Orion 😁
hopefully there's new things to mine though with that...
I left enough things in halo with prospector. Do solo mole, lol.
Lyria is great too for Quantainium.
i dont even bother with the halo anymore... usually only takes me 5-10 mins to find something worth mining on lyria
Yeah but run away for pirates 🤣
I've spent, like, a STUPID amount of time on Lyria mining quant and never saw a pirate there, it's basically a myth
most issues I've had with players was at the actual refinery
lyria's way less frustrating too, every cluster is guaranteed to have a quant rock and the horizon makes it harder to retrack explored ground
I would say if your mostly solo grab the prospector first and kit it out. Would spend half your current bankroll but with the kitted out prospector you can very quickly get back to having mole money. Solo mole is rough ngl. Wouldn't be bad if they would get rid of the jumping on a trampoline animation when the pilot isn't in the seat
Is cargo, either missions or flipping materials, viable for profit or am I better off doing other things for money?
best modules for prospector for someone who has halo mined for a few weeks (in other's ships)?
Choosing your mining modules are dependent on Personal Preference, Mining Experience and Mining Locale. If you're mining on planet (Lyria) and feeling confident and experienced, 2x Surges and a Stampede so you can break the chonker rocks if you come across some (rocks on planet spawn between 3-8k mass). If mining in space (Halo) where rocks only spawn as large as 5k, maybe take something to help you with Instability (for quantanium) like say Focus3, Reiger3 and Vaux3. There are many, many utilizable variations dependent on the miner and the situation.
TLDR; There are multiple answers to that question.
ok ty
yeah, not worried about pirates at all.. if anything it's people protecting an area which i have no problems avoiding
Is hand mining worth doing? Or is my time to make $$ better spending doing other things?
Im trying to get a prospector but never really gotten into mining before
Is ROC mining viable?
is trading fixed now? can u sell more than 5 scu and actually make money?
Kinda. Question is can you buy more than 30 scu
Could I save for a starferer via cargo runs or is bounty literally the only viable career?
@deep vector
I'm tryna decide if it's worth a reinstall
Mining or bounties
Yeah but you also need over a mill for a mining ship which I don't have
Also you make way more doing Bounty's in a far shorter timeframe
Sounds good
They're boring for me now I've done so many
I want something new
But don't wanna spend 2 hrs to make no money
250k a day and in a week+ you’ll have a prospector
Prospector may easy get mil in two hours if you know how to do it
So trading is still broken and not a money making option?
^
I filled fatlancer with larinite
But if I may do it again?
Okay so trading just isn't worth it when mining and Bounty's are a thing? That's a shame to me since trading is supposed to be a big career
Or missions
Traiding is decent, that’s why EVERYONE doing it
But couple hercs and there’s nothing to buy for all
Good luck
Yes, but again
Overall stock are through all servers
So good luck filling your ship
@potent tinsel I have a mining guide pinned in this channel. different module loadouts and all sorts of info
@median girder you don't always need a ship to mine
people rent n roc mine
also there's lots of groups that mine aswell as mole pilots needing crew.
just gotta find the right people
Is consumables a must for prospector / quant mining? I have a helix head but it doesn’t seem to be really doing much.
Lancet MH1 Mining Laser is a must for Quant. The modules, passive or active, can make it easier but aren't a necessity.
I read the helix was a go to. Not anymore?
Lancet MH1 is roughly 25k and can be found at ARC-L1, CRU-L1, HUR-L2 & MIC-L1 as well as Dumpers at Port Olisar.
Helix is ok for it but the Lancet has better Instability reduction and better throttle response. It's just a bit slower to crack the rock since the charge rate is lower.
With the lancet head alone. What should I look to avoid when prospecting? I’ve used my helix head and the bar never even moved past 1/4 at 100% power. Not sure why.
What was the Mass of the rock?
4.5 I think?
4.5 shouldn't be a problem. Were you close enough to the rock?
when my refinery work order is complete, i can just leave it in the terminal while my other orders are processing? the collect option is greyed out, not that i know what would happen if i pushed it anyway 🤔
im guessing that if i had a ship with cargo capacity, it would show up under storage options...
@sleek hinge helix is not the laser to use
lancet is
I have a mining guide pinned with loadouts
in this channel
Is an argo mole worth the money?
In terms of buying in verse, absolutly both when used solo/crewed. If buying irl it's still worth it, just be sure to have some friends come join you so it doesn't feel like too much of a sting to your wallet
Best monetary investment on the site?
Wdym?
I'm late to the conversation but as a solo Prospector, today I made several runs to the Halo and I'm now waiting on 940K of aUEC to finish being refined. I don't have to share it.
Like if I get an argo mole is it the best thing to have after resets and is it really more useful than a prospector?
ROC mining needs some love. When 3.14 rolled out, it pretty much took the profit/time success of ROC mining totally away. Besides other issues, the main problem is that the ping/scan is really messed up for small deposits.
Thing is I rlly wanted to get a mercury star runner or something of the sort as I wanted to do trade and cargo vs mining but it doesn't seem to be viable at all
..

Trade if viable but it requires more planning and upfront dollars than any other game loop
MOLE is great to work with teams, as a solo option it does work but you work with extra processes to make it happen. The Prospector is a solo designed miner, so it is the whole package without extra steps to make it work properly like you have with a MOLE. Many players use the MOLE as a solo miner, I just chose to not mess with it in that manner.
As an example, I'm not sure of the number of trips today but at the end of the day I had 10,698 SCU of quantainium being refined (net yield) for a little over 940K aUEC earnings.
I can't find my current delivery contract on the starmap
is there a trick to cracking a ‘roid and getting those 100% quant pieces to break off or is it just rng?
Rng unfortunately
my package dropoff point is on top of a random skyscraper in new babbage. every time I try to go near the landing pad at the top, the autopilot yanks me away. if i land near it, I can't find a way to get up to it. what do?
Idk I wanna upgrade my pledge to a cargo ship because I primarily want to do cargo going forward, does anyone have any ideas as far as ships that serve this purpose go?
MISC freelancer, drake caterpillar
Is a c2 a viable option as well?
C2 is the only trade option right now. Cat isn't bad but still less cargo.
Cargo refactor might change up the C2 meta when cargo loading times have to be considered but who knows how far off that is
Good to know, I'm still looking, I just want something I will be able to use for more of the industry stuff in the game
Trade is pretty rough right now where it's hard to fill up on anything with good margins so it's become more about bulk selling cheaper goods
and C2 with 690 SCU does it better than anything else right now
Yeah but with 3.17 coming out within the next month or so I might straight up buy a starfarer and start running a space gas station
Not sure who is going to go to a Starfarer to fill up vs a Station when we only have Stanton but it is quite interesting
isn't second system coming out relatively soon
Yeah, seems like classis star citizen
Idk I really want something that does industry well in this game but I am stuck on what to get considering I don't really like mining myself hence the argo. But I am going thru the grey market so that I can get a ship that I can use at any time to be my primary ship
I'd wait till a bit after 3.17 to see what the new options will be.
Yeah I guess I will since I don't want to waste my money currently
Cause at the moment, industry is basically mining Quant
YEah I've come to realize that
They touched on mining during the conversation with the EU player experience team. They also dislike the current system since there is essentially only a single profitable commodity, quantainium.
Hopefully that'll translate into changes sometime this year.
Also, Caterpillar is a very viable trading ship. C2 is the highest earner but the Caterpillar isn’t far behind. Besides. It’s a cooler ship too.
But the C2 has better shields and it handles better.
yeah I have a Cat and enjoy it but currently it's just a downgrade from a C2
@dusty nimbus mole forever worth it
properly setup.
I average 700k-775k a run.
I run a team most of the time.
How much u pay them out?
Anyone wanna go mole mining LMK
@dusty nimbus equal cuts
Anyone wanna join mole mining or have room for one?
you 18+
if you are talking to me, yes
I am mining if anyone wants to join
@tawny path sorry just popped back in here
if anyone has a mole i have 2 40% plus quant rocks
Miners.... did you invest in buying a cargo ship to move refined units regularly or do you just store up your quant then rent a cargo ship and do a bulk move once every few weeks, etc.?
@ me if someone answers. Been wondering the same thing myself
invested in a cargo ship as I enjoy the mining/trade side of things
What would you recomend as a first cargo ship?
Freelancer Max, Constellation Taurus, Hercules C2 depending on budget
Ok thanks
hmmm.....i'm considering bumping my pledge ship up to FreeMax for $15.... 🤔
When I start out and I'm preparing to gear up towards ship mining, I go for the mining ship first and rent cargo ship. I will purchase a ship eventually though
once I have my hands on a cargo ship, I will also start cargo hauling with it
What do you find most profitable? mining or cargo hauling?
mining is typically more profitable
cargo hauling isn't as mature as it should be.. but it breaks the monotony and is something else to do
you can still make money cargo hauling though.. and normally, once I've built up some floating capital, I will gravitate more to cargo than mining
Ok
I have 3-5 haulers, so yes
can you upgrade an already upgraded ship in the pledge store
yep just keep spending more money lol. ive done it a few times.
No i mean like can i apply multiple upgrades to a singular ship
^
One at a time, but yes
good to know
It's called the CCU Game, maybe the only truly fleshed out game in Star Citizen. My Titan became a Cutlass Black that become a Freelancer MAX that then became a Constellation Taurus
Chaining CCUs is the art of the game. My chaining was just from progression of what I wanted.
My aurora became titan than cutty than fatlancer
When I break a rock with a very good quant percentage into purples. Sometimes they’re not 100% of quantanium, they usually are mixed with quartz or something else. Is there a module that helps me to achieve 100% of quant?
Only the "inert" filter which won't help with true minerals in the mix. No, you have to depend on the dice gods on how the rock breaks
Sad! I hope they do a module that helps to filter the minerals too
I think I read somewhere that's something the Mole will be able to do.. or maybe in concert with the Raft.. or something to that extent
I'm doing a search mission, can I do anything with the rest of the boxes I find or just the one it wants me to retrieve?
When you look in the MOLE, you see hardware infrastructore for more advanced operation, similar to what you see in the StarFarer with salvage. Some of these functions depend upon the cargo refactor and physicalization of all things SC
In the next patch, there might be more options here. But for now, you do not get enough return for it to be worth your time
ah yes, that's probably what led me to search more info on this in the first place
But the other boxes are physically sellabe?
some are but you have to go to Grim to sell them
or any of the "ask no questions" terminals
I gotcha
I really hope they add more in the way of smuggling in the next update considering its focused on trade
the next build it going to make things go wild, Piracy will enter its first "game play" with being able to loot and sell back to stores. So when they attack and rob, they will actually be able to sell what they have stolen
Ik it'll probably make the entire cargo aspect of the game a little more fun
We'll need cargo refactor for that full blown cargo piracy mayhem
It'll make hiring people an actual need vs basically rp
So Excited tho I am about to get my c2
I'm about to start just doing cargo runs in the c2 now
Hey. New(ish) guy here. Just been mining for a week or so. About to go sell my refined quant in a rented freelancer and should have 3.5M in the bank if I don't screw it up. My question is....spend it on a freelancer max or taurus. Watched a ton of vids and read stuff on reddit and im still 50/50. Anyone got a strong view one way or the other?
Taurus is pretty solid imo. You can do bounties in it, has a good amount of scu for cargo and it’s pretty nice for ground fps missions
Id recomend just saving for the c2 if youre that close and want a cargo ship
Would be nice if the Connie floor table would work
But yeah taurus is good for cargo but is a multirole ship so you can do whatever with it
Does the Aurora have a cargo hold that I dont know how to open? Or do I just put stuff in the cabin behind the seat?
heading over to Lorville....are gases or metals more profitable to sell?
Behind the seat
Any tips for scanning for roc minables in a cutlass black?
Lol, thats it? Just that little 5 foot square?
I feel like I only ever come across the huge rocks that the roc can't mine
Yeah
Lol, thanks
I wont say how long I spent trying to find some kind of cargo holder, but I will tell you that spot under the rear of the hull looks juicy for some kind of cargo attachment
Stay close to ground
Move slow
Scan constantly
Ignore all scans over 2k meters away because roc minables only appear within 2k meters
Also mine on Ariel, Aberdeen, daymar
Omg, thank you so much, that's SUPER helpful!!
And ignore anything that isn't hadenite (look for purple veins on the rocks)
Hadenite is the most valuable roc minable
I can't tell if thats sarcastic lol
Not sarcastic, im just new and mining is a lot to take in lol 😅
Lol I just finished roc mining and bought myself a prospector! Lol ship mining is a whole other can of worms
Nice! Now go get that Lancet and the modules and you'll be rollin
I have, I'm rolling in the dough bow
I have both ships. I CCU'd my MAX to the Taurus but missed the MAX so much that I bought it in-game. The MAX, to me, is more compact and better suited for things like ROC escort. I have been experiencing issues with the Taurus when landing in Area18 where it doesn't acknowledge the ship landing. While if I land with another ship, it's fine. The Cost per SCU is the best with the MAX. I like both ships, but the MAX is one of my favorites. I also bought the black livery for her, she looks good in Black.
Doesn't matter the ship, PING/SCAN is messed up for small deposits. Some go fast and low, some go slow and low. I tend to cruise fairly slow and ping often.
the deposits only show up within 1200 meters (1.2k) I wish it was 2K like it use to be 😦
Oof, that is pretty small, so like basically ON the ground then lol
Welcome to the big league. Your Prospector will be the Goose that lays the golden eggs. Each trip bring in pretty nice dollars.
Yeah, ROC mining use to be (and still would be) one of my favorite game play loops. But the process needs a little bit of love in its current form. It was 3.14 patch that tanked it as being very profitable. It is still fun and you can make good coin, but much slower now
Thanks for the info. How do you rate the taurus for bounty?
Better than the MAX because of the gun size difference. The MAX is a Brick, but the Taurus doesn't respond like a sports car either.
I'm either gonna go max and sentinel or try and use the taurus for hauling refined quant and also BMs to break it up a bit
I used the MAX originally for ROC escort. So easy to get on and off the ship with the ROC (RORO) and the hydrogen scoops in the MAX were industry best, never had to worry about fuel. The footprint of the MAX would allow access anywhere. The 120 SCU was respectable also.
...but the taurus looks so damn good and im wondering if the lower tractor beam turret will impact on loading time positively when the cargo refactor happens
...you can tell which way I'm starting to lean right 🙂
Absolutely no qualms with the Taurus, she's a fine ship. I have one. The landing issue I'm going to see if I can replicate it and then submit an IC report about it.
aberdeen just has 0 fucking gems today
If that's the case try server hopping. Borked servers make em not spawn
I’m kinda new to star citizen and looking to do some cargo runs but every trade console I go to in order to buy material doesn’t show my ship so I can’t see any inventory. Am I missing something or is it a bug?
What is the most productive method as far as trading/ cargo goes rn for money making?
What ship do you have?
Here's a website that can help:
https://uexcorp.space/
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Volume is key. So you need to go a large as possible. A C2 or CAT, etc
^ and some working capital
This is one of my favorite refresher courses
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NxTYWawbvM
EDIT: Currently CIG is smart and disabled all of Scrap. Do NOT buy scrap. There is no available port to sell.
EDIT: There is a mistake on the Astatine table for the MSR. The proper values should be Buy in: 79,800, Profit: 22,800, Profit Per Hour: 68,400. I had an incorrect decimal throwing off values and I apologize for the confusion.
With 3.1...
@north oyster I have the co nomad
OK, that's about 20ish in SCU? There is a bug that the ship doesn't show on terminals but did you try something simple like Scrap from a TDD?
I haven’t tried that yet but I’ll take a look, thanks
Can't really do trade with such a small ship, but you can learn the principles
Make sure nothing is in the back like a ROC, etc
i used a rented cutless black and I could get scrap but on the moons trying to use the trading terminals it wouldnt let me select a ship. the terminal was blank
I could get scrap though at a TDD
where's the ship.. where are you.. and what terminal are you trying to use?
Sell scrap at ARC-L1 or a couple of spots, it is specific
Scrap buyers are: Cru L5, Hur L5, Mic L1, Arc L1
According to a website Clio has the highest Ore Value Index of quantanium is that true. And is it a good place to quant mine?
Lyria is the moon to hit for quant.
whats the best band for quant if im going from arc l1
have 3 rocks im at, 50%, 30% and 20% quant for sale 100,000, in game name fusioncontrol
any takers
when trading with a FL max, should i bother buying the taurus or just go straight to the c2?
just save up and etcetera?
sooo, roc inside a cave. Is there a benefit? such as faster mining. Can the roc get over that gorge or near the bottom or will it just get stuck.
Ok thanks
miners: I have four finished work order and three in progress. can I keep adding more work orders or do I need to get the completed ones out of there? I thought someone said seven was the limit?
no limit but game updates like the upcoming 3.17 patch, usually wipe refinery orders
Looking for work, scouting for a mining outfit.
Hi. Just got the game, using a 100i ship. I really want to get into trading, but when I arrive at a trading console and press the dropdown button for "select a location", nothing shows. I can't select anything. Am I doing something wrong?
Is there anyone interested in helping me do mining or trading I can’t afford the mining ship or a ship big enough to do transport missions bc I’m new I’m happy to do most of the work and split the profits with the person
100i has 2 SCUs of cargo space. Using it for trading to make money is not a viable option.
Just trying to get used to it, but it's not possible due to the terminal not working for me
still looking for cargo carrying ideas. Freelancer max is cheapest option. Taurus is a step up. Msr is another step up from that but less cargo. Then the C2 is same price range as msr but way more cargo. Any thoughts/opinions?? I don't see using the FreeMax for anything else but hauling due to that cockpit, so if can spend more to get a more useful ship, I don't mind.
I would personally consider the Taurus a step up from MSR in regards to cargo, and handles itself a little better when used for Bounties, if desired
C2 is meta cargo runner. It will also double as a transport carrier for Ballistas, Tanks, Cyclones and Ursa Rovers for events or other ground Ops. If you have the $$ C2 is the way. imo
I use a Taurus myself for cargo, it's not a bad ship that retains some versatility for other non cargo work
C2 is a cargo beast
I discoverd that's a known bug
anywhere without a pad wont detect the ship
read what i just posted as well 🙂
i ran into the same question, so hoping you all don't spend time trying to figure it out as well
I just got myself a freelancer max when it hit me
I don't know the first thing about trade. Where do I even start?
is a good place to start
Thanks
Does anyone know if it’s worth renting the C2 to do trading ???? Never done trading before watched a few videos couple said to rent the C2 for a day and run trade missions
You can't rent a C2
Tf these idiots keep saying u can, any idea on a ship that I can that’s good for trade running
renting one of the large haulers like the cutless black is a good start
i don’t think they’re super pricey
I think the biggest you can rent is the Constellation Andromeda. won't make much trading in it though
just got my shiny new Prospector.....taking it out for a test run....anywhere I should go first?
Thanks!! Guess I'll only get to trade at zones with landing pads
is there a difference in mining big rocks on a planet vs in space?
asteroids spawn with a maximum mass of just over 5k so they are all soloable, rocks on moons can spawn up to 8k mass so they aren't always soloable in a prospector
also planetary mining can be cumbersome because the rocks cover each other when broken often
cool....thanks
basically if you have more than one person mine on lyria
if ur solo go for the belt
if you eject cargo can you choose what to eject or is it all or nothing?
it will eject all
I'm at Arc -L1......I'm new to mining so I'll ask the obvious...is there any reason NOT to just mine rocks that are very close to the station? I know that's not where quantonium is but....
quantanium sells for twice as much, prospector mining is all about finding the highest quality rocks, not the largest quantity
i suggest looking up a guide on youtube for a more in depth explanation
yeah.....guess I'm just a little nervous about the whole "blowing up" thing....
Everyone was nervous when they first started mining Quant. It will pass. Plus the ship will give you warnings when the Quant is becoming unstable enough to actually blow. Just make sure you break the whole rock up first before you start picking anything up and you'll be fine. If mining Lyria jump to Arc-L1, if you want to mine the Halo I suggest using Cru-L1.
do you refine quant or just sell the ore?
Refine it. BUT The 3.17 patch is approaching quickly and word around town is you may lose orders that are in the refinery. Refine at your own risk until 3.17 drops.
I personally have decided to use other avenues of income until 3.17
but you're talking about work orders that take days right?
I'd advise using Ferron (12-24hrs) dependent on the size of the order. Dynix is the other option to consider if time is not a consideration
@thin escarp How do we get this pdf pinned?
Just mine any and everything so that you can learn the process. It is a game loop that isn't complicated but does require a few hours in the cockpit to get down pat. Once you are comfortable with the whole process, then a focus on quantainium is (at this time) the most profitable course. A full 32SCU in the Prospector of Quantainium is about 275K aUEC.
3.17 going LIVE won't be "fast" nor soon, per se. It even gone to open PTU yet (not stable enough). But you are right, when rumors begin to talk about it going LIVE, then it is time to clear your refinery jobs and not stack them
thanks...that's useful info.....don't want to keep bugging with questions but how to you get a full 325SU of Quant without interts, etc..... does it ever come in pure like that and not mixed?
it's totally a random thing if someone gets a pure load
The % of the rock/asteroid has to be large enough to give 100% chucks to fill the Prospector
ok....I'll take the advice and just practice for a while
Here's some ore values
I would say, remove the gimble and guns off your ship (they consume power that you can use for your laser) as that they are worthless anyway. The lancet is the only laser head you need for now (Size ONE, don't do like me and buy the wrong size the first time).
Any questions, let us know. You will find that the Prospector is the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs because you can earn to buy anything you want in game with her
ok....I think I'm a ways away from that level of detail....but I'll get there...thanks 🙂
Do you have a cargo size ship? At least Cutlass Black or larger?
Freelancer Max
oh, love the MAX, she's a great ship
I did have to spend a few real world dollars to dress her in Black
lol....I'm getting ready to do just that as well
enjoyed the orange and white...but it's time for a change
Love how she looks in the black livery. Plus she is the best ship for ROC mining because of the wide ramp and easy size to get in to tight spots on planets
I Kickstarted the original....spent the $$ to upgrade....no regrets
that's awesome. I started with the Titan the started playing the CCU game up to the MAX, then eventually the Taurus. But missed the MAX so I bought her in-game
why did you choose to go back to max after taurus? curious cause i’m trying to decide on a cargo ship. taurus handles more cargo so i’m wondering what it was about the max that drew you back.
grim, scanning rocks is a buggy skill all in itself so check the pins in this channel for some good starter info.
I like both of them but the MAX is more compact and the best value of SCU to aUEC. The Taurus is also a great ship but not so adapt for other rolls like ROC mining. I have had landing issue with the Taurus in Area18 where the pad doesn't acknowledge me landing. I need to do an IC bug report on that.
ok thx for sharing. i’m really struggling with how much I want to invest in either a pure cargo ship or a larger multi role that can hold cargo too like the msr.
True Cargo Ship would be on the level of C2 and CAT. Cargo is going to change in a huge way this year but for now these two own the waves
ah, ok, just delivery cargo for mining. I got ya
so my work order is complete - but the collect button is not active...
when you click the collect, you need to use the mouse wheel to scroll down
It might not see your ship
go retrieve your ship then stow it again. That way you know the station see it. Especially if you just claimed it there
ok...starting to get the picture now.....so it's probably a good thing to load up enough work orders to fill your cargo hold before making the trip to sell....how long will a refinery hold orders once they are processed?
ive heard that there is no time limit but haven't tried longer than two days myself. Obligatory warning about not leaving work orders stored for upcoming 3.17 as they can be/will be/might be lost.
Would it be good for one to rent 3 ROCS, put them in a c2 and go mine somewhere
No
So ROC mining is shit now?
Rather C2 would prolly do better doing just commodity trading. You can haul 3 ROC's in cutlass. No need for C2
Mind you that you can only spawn 3 vehicles at the time, so spawning 3rd roc would despawn the C2. Unless some of those ROCs belong to your friends.
ah
About ROC mining
So its not that you cannot do it, it's just not ideal option. Also when taking into account the ship emissions, C2 will light up on radar like xmas tree, thus easy for pirates to find you.
How slow should you fly with the cutty?
Altitude probably matters more than the speed. Fly low and keep eye out for the scannables.
I should look for diamond symbols instead of the normal right?
Yes and no, I think the diamonds do show up as normal radar contacts, until the certain distance.
Don't quote me on that thou, been while since I have done ROC mining myself.
Yes, but when i get into the 1500m it should change to diamond symbols right?
I have no answer for that, hopefully someone with up to date information shows up for that.
Can you open the ship door from the ROC?
Nope. But would be fun if we had remote access to ship via mobiglass, maybe something like wifi password lol.
Theres a door button tho
Btw, now that i found a mining spot the ROC wont move
Any tip on how to get it to work again?
Seems the roc was damage in transit somehow
Around 115-140
Do i need to do something when i put the ROC into the cutty? Mine wouldnt start once i found something to mine
Your ROC wouldn’t start?
yeah
and couldnt move the mining arm
Could activate mining mode tho
Trying to re-claim it at the moment
Yeah I would do that probably a bug
Because i dont need to do anything more than back it up into the storage?
Btw, can you transfer the items in the ROCs measly storage into the ship?
is mining in the halo good from arc l1
ive heard good things about band 1 but that is so far away
currently mining on lyria
Yes
I prefer Lyria
Band 4 is probably the best in the Aaron halo in my opinion
Seems to be the general agreement
And if you want the full list, check https://cornerstonebase.space/login/articles/articles/36-refinery-to-aaron-halo-mining-routes-3-14-0-live-rel1-2
Lyria is better, but requires help or good use of modules, and have a risk of pirates.
I’m gonna push for a prospector and start quantinium mining 😁
any idea what would prevent me from selling raw ore at the ore sales terminal?
Do we know when 3.17 is dropping? I dont want to do long refining jobs if its soon
still got a few weeks atleast
evocati's currently running 3.17 in the PTU.. after which you normally have about 3-4 weeks of subscriber/pledge PTU testing. So I'd say at minimum until mid April, likely more, before 3.17 makes it to the PU

Should I buy the c2, cat or starfarer? Decisions decisions
i have had the game about a week, have made 1.2mil currently... looking for someone with a prospector that would be willing to help me mine.... i can also help them break bigger rocks. i will rent a prospector. HMU if your interested!
Starfarer refuel gameplay looks cool but won't really have a use outside of long events (eg Xeno) or until Pyro is in game
hmm.. Starfarer @ the Jericho would be hella practical
specially if rearming was added
Any tips for solo pros mining on moons? I'm having issues cracking the bigger 5200+ rocks.
Been playing about a month but still fairly new to pros mining. I'm pretty familiar with belt mining, just not moon mining. I know they're more meant for group mining, but can it be done? I have a helix head right now, seems to put more power out.
anyone know hwere to find the most cupt to date shipping routes
Looking for scouts for mining
I dont know about Helix head but I was told to run a Lancet mining head mate. 5.2k would be ok On the Lancet But much larger u will need to use modules like surge and stampede
5122 is max on lancet without modules. Biggest size found in halo.
Above it’s start to be tricky
And luck dependent
I managed to crack 6k once, but pure luck, instability literally pushed me in green in like 40 seconds
I was almost able to get a 7k rock without modules just takes a long time
u can do well over 7k with double surge and stampede on the Lancet
when salvaging comes will there be a light salvagers
bruh the vulture looks like the starter miner from EVE
hey guys im here at hur l2 bc the wiki says you can get the rieger c-3 modules here but i cannot for the life of me find them
@exotic burrow use this site mate
mining, then into modules
right but where specifically on hur l2, do you know? i was in the mining shiop and the only displays i can find are for clothing and ship rentals
on clothing terminal, scroll to the right on top of the screen
new tab will appear with mining stuff
omg that is so dumb, i cant believe i didnt try that. thank you so much
Thought that might be the case but wondered if wiki put u wrong also
We all fallen into this once at least
haha they got my ass for sure, wont let that happen again
I actually saw it in a youtube vid, had no idea either lol
Its not intuitive, no arrows or anything indicating it is scrollable
What is the best place to mine in the halo and how do I get there?
band 4 or 6
The best is one that works for you well
I personally go for 5 because of density
Seen people praise 1
So just pick your own favorite
They want to push it in PTU this week if i'm not mistaking
so I’m new, how do I get started with mining
Ok, so i bought my prospector recently, bought lancet head and went out to the roids belt to mine. After a 1 hour i found only 1 roid that has only 2% quant... So i kept searching but other than that, nothing. Is that normal? I guesa not, soo any tips how to be more successful in finding quant rocks? 🤔
I find it depends on the band you are in, use this: https://cornerstonebase.space/resources/knowledge-base/36-refinery-to-aaron-halo-mining-routes
it is def rng so that's pretty unlucky. unfortunately that is how it goes sometime, but when you do hit one, it makes it worthwhile. you're constantly spamming Tab and check out every cloud cluster? 1 quant rock in an hour is super low. try a different band ^
I've found a good quant rock each time within 30 mins in band 2 from CRU-L1 to ARC-L3 for example
If for 30 minutes nothing decent- hop server. Eventually you will learn how to understand if server is healthy
all right. i was disappointed yesterday. i wanted just to find one rock before i went to sleep... i thought it will be like 30 mins or so 😄 Thanks for tips. i will try tonight again.
@brazen thistle should never take longer than 30 mins. U don't necessarily need to change server, Just jump small distances inside the Halo and scan away
Also make sure you have your scanner set to 180 degrees using the '.' key in game. Cruise pretty fast and keep scanning
It really helps to jump the server staying in same band
Had log in and founding two 40% in 20 seconds in front of me
Lol
How does the rocks in game work? If i fly away to get my miner and fly back, will they risk being despawned as noone was there?
from my understanding they should not despawn as ppl use boxes from delivery missions to mark locations to get back later.
you can yes... but not sure about QT ... probably not. 😦 but i didint try myself
Go to Band 1 of the Halo, it isn't densely populated but I find the ratio of Quan to be top notch. Two trips the other day for 500K aUEC. Bands 4 and 6 are also pretty good.
I've not been as lucky as immortalfox, but I have been consistent in find plenty of hits.
Important note about mining the Aaron's Halo, the scans not working if very server dependent. So if you are getting tons of duds and can't scan, you can jump about 20k Km and try again, if still bad, then maybe jump servers.
Is roc mining viable at all?
yea till today i didint know about any bands so i will take a look later tonight what it is and how to find it 😄 and then i will try my luck again.
it take longer but you can make money with it.
full ROC of best gems is worth around 260k but it depends on your luck how quickly you can fill it up.
Like If I load a ROC-DS into my starlifter then just fly around a planet?
i was talking about basic ROC... DS is for 2 ppl. its doable solo but you would need to switch seats every time you want to mine. and it has much much bigger cargo... longer you are out there, bigger the chance something will go wrong or get bugged. but basically yes. you want to fly low... below 1km ping often and look for squares tahat are still squares at 4km. those will be minable with ROC. Bigger rock will show as rocks, not squares from big distance.
ROC mining works but it needs love. When CIG released 3.14 the issue that the scan/ping doesn't let you see any deposits unless you are within 1200 meters. So you have to be very sharp to find them. Other small issues exist also. Overall, you can earn good coin with ROC mining but the rate of earnings is now much slower.
if you dont have friend you want to do it with, i would rather recommend to buy basic version and try it for yourself first. fill up that smaller cargo will already took you quite some time. As for upgrading ROC. i ve been told you cant change mining head for better one... and other components doesnt really matter.
Using a C2 to go mining is an expensive overkill. I would suggest a smaller ship
The DS version was just a chance to raise funds. I would recommend the regular ROC before the DS
You can rent the ROC for about 4K or buy for about 172K at New Deal
I love ROC mining and I use the Freelancer MAX as the escort for the ROC.
