the TAB scanner only picks the gems up at around 1.2km which makes it pretty useless. I tend to just fly as low & fast as I'm comfortable. pick a direction (N,S,E,W) and just fly straight while looking out for the gem icons to appear underneath (looks like diamonds).
also spam the scanner and look out for signals that only appear around 1km from you

always found ROC to be quite fun giving a real use for ground vehicles but since 3.14 it's been kinda busted

Likewise here. I love cruising and the evolution of deploying and mining on the planet surface. The scan/ping rework totally disregarded the function of the scan for smaller deposits. The fact that it was a known issue the whole time 3.14 was in PTU and testing shows that they knew it was a problem. To brush it off with "works as designed" before the release went to live tweaked me the wrong way, LOL. Then add the components failing, the laser/collector swtiching, the collection swrilling the gems, the scan failing to work, etc etc etc. Yeah, I'm still a little salty with it

You can't do that, you need to pick up one job and deliver it and then go grab the second job. I'm pretty sure about this but also you increase the risk of a bug crashing you out if you get to complex with cargo retrieval from the refineries

Actually you can. Up to you if you want to take the risks. Finish all jobs in cru l1 and store them in your freelancer. Then if there's still cargo space for your remaining jobs in hur l1 then fly the freelancer there and do the same.

When you are in the Prospector and in Mining Mode, you can interact with the mining consumable control panel to your top right. With the F key, once the mouse hovers over the control it will give you a read out of the installed component and the number of uses left

Got a mining question for anyone with the know how.
The other day I tried out mining with a prospector out at Aaron's halo. Made the jump just fine but when I tried to scan any of the asteroids that popped up on the tab scan 9/10 of em wouldn't scan. And when i did get the scan to work the charge meter would rise to about half way and then drop to nothin again.
Is there something I was messin up? Or a trick I don't know yet?

They are very cheap, load a bunch into cargo take it to your refining station and switch in a fresh one every time you go mining.

So I have not been having as much luck as I use to in the halo, even in my best spots. I and a lot of other miners have moved to ArcCorp > Lyria to mine. Just look for groupings is almost always quant.
Also if you are getting a lot of scan duds, bed log to another server.

No there are utility items you change out. I recomend 2x Vaux-C3 and 1x Surge using a Lancet mining head.

You can't mod the rental but you can mine larger rocks in space than you can on the surface. Check out super Mac brothers YouTube video on making money with a rental prospector

If you use the word "Cargo" and hope to trade, then the CAT as a minimum or the C2 as the rule are really your only options until the Hull series arrive.
Spending that sum of aUEC, I would say the C2 is the way you want to go.
Better handling, better capacity, better speed, etc etc. It far out performs the Drake CAT in every category except for some future promised function that isn't implement yet Soon(tm)

Not at all, it's how you want to play the game, no rules! the CAT is a Drake and that is special in game lore and players hearts. I like the C2 but really enjoyed the CAT that was a loaner for the C2 until it was flyable. So the CAT is an excellent choice. Choose what is fun

not really a "best" right now. Trade is still Tier -100 but might make it to Tier Zero when the cargo refactor happens. Small trade that you are doing in the FL will probably be one-way trips of Laranite, etc to TDD. You can check out Jack Axton's trade refresher course video that might help layout some courses. Some options include same planet pick up and delivery.

Try the outer Band of the Halo Band 6 and Band 7. I have had excellent luck (when the server is healthy) in those areas. Lyria is also an excellent source, as you know.

results in Aaron's Halo rely heavily on the health of the server. I wish this wasn't the case. So, if you get a bunch of dud scans, try skipping about 20K Km down the road and trying again. Otherwise try a different server

Yes, if they continue to pay out like that. I love making 1M per run with the medical supplies. I use to try to clear a million aUEC per day earnings but I've scaled way back. I just stack refinery jobs all week long and then deliver them on Sunday. Payday is normally 2M to 5M per week. A good pace.
For me, I want the Liberator when it comes in game. So saving aUEC for that (if I don't CCU up to it from one of my ships) and a few other ships I might want

It’s a passive module for the mining head. The surge and stampede have to be activated by pressing ALT and 1,2, or 3 depending on which slot you have it in.
Surge blasts the rock with extreme power to heat it up quick. Once in the green, stampede to get through green zone super fast for a quick crack. The vaux C3 just helps with stability.
There are probably a hundred different ways you can set the head up, but the above is my preferred.
Once the first crack is done, you don’t use the active modules for the second cracks.

Voyage or VK-00 depending on how you want it set up. Voyage as an all round go anywhere setup. VK-00 for a strict Station to mining spot and back only set up
Atlas is an option too but Voyage does the same thing with a touch more speed

So if you get a ping that's under 2km that is gems
They will NEVER be the same as ship minables

Useful site, you can put in info like initial investment, what ship you have, what material you want to trade in
And it'll suggest the best places to do so, and you can even have it set up "round trips"
Buy at A, sell to B, go to C and buy again, go to D and sell, that leaves you basically next to A again with time for the shops to restock supplies

I did like... 3 rocks last night when mining (so like maybe 1-2 hours work?) and when I can sell my refined quant, I'll make 650k
So if I actually spent a day just doing mining I'd easily make a few mill when I sell it all

Some guys prefer planetary mining, some like to to visit the belt. I do my quant hunting in the belt. Prob best if you go out there, try both locations and see for yourself. the refinery jobs are rarely, if ever, persistent. I'm sure you realize this now considering your lost. For that very reason, I always purge the refinery every week, or daily if I feel something is about to drop with a patch or update.

that's a toss up, but the MOLE does hold about 3x more raw than the Prospector. As a team, you can earn more but at the same time the randomness of mining might laugh in your face and make sure nobody wins

I figured out the answer to my question... Apparently u can mouse wheel on the clothing terminal to get to "unitlity" tab that includes the mining heads. Even tho it logically doesnt make sense with the UI

The M2 will come with 20,000 more shields and all military components plus a chin turret. It does loose some cargo space, 696 top 532 I believe but if you aren't cargo hauling then it does not matter

You can upgrade the C2 components to be the same so you're only getting the extra turret (for a 3 man crew) and losing cargo space in the M2
