so would it be worth it to rent a big ship and just go for some cargo trade runs?
or to ask different. Whats the fastest way to make money if you cant attend jt and your rep with bounty hunter guild is on level 2.5
what rock sizes can the Roc mine please ?
Start grinding up bounties
Really the fastest way? Dang
It's not even close.
oof ok ty
my laser doesn't want to absorb it just throws em away
Don't despair, bounties can rock with the right ship and loadout. 700k/hr
hmm ok yeah since i really would love to have a constellation im thinking of renting it and grinding away this weekend. With that big ship it should go pretty fast
speaking of, ship recommendations?
vangard is probably also pretty good for fighting. (heavy gun ship)
yeah but which vanguard lol
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.
@chrome jayget out then back in your roc, usually works for me with that bug
vanguard wardens obsolete now, its canons can be bought and its specs are copied over to the other vanguards minus the specialities of the other ones
yup it did thank you
good deal then
no, leave them in ship and select it on console
cause trading console isn't detecting my rock inside my cutty
you dont need to have roc in ship there tho do you?
take your roc out of ship and does it show ? i usually only sell at the big stations
big stations like what
cause there's a red contact here i'm gonna dip
hur-l1
thanks
oh ya good idea
at the stations you do yes, i dont think you can on the surface outposts
i went to Cru L1
cool someone with a real answer ;p
this was my first roc run
@distant wagon not even in the refinery
it's not being detected at all
thats the admin terminal in the galleria?
nice, glad it worked
@umbral folio bounties def isn't the best money making loop if you own a mole or prospector. I'm pulling 1.3-1.4 mil a hour
dudes 700k average is heavily relying on having a ship that beat bigger bounties on top of being a good pilot and the mission even working which can be buggy to all hell
That awkward moment when you forgot to request permission to leave.
so you are trading?
@umbral folio mining.
in the mole.
mining is the most consistent stable game loop.
Cargo running is very stable, provided you aren't looking for only the highest priced stuff.
@worthy scroll or scrap or drugs
anything of decent value
but if you get beyond all those things yes. cargo running is apart of the game and can make a lil profit.
I pretty much just do laranite, what I can get of it, then titanium. Titanium alone is fine.
I was running cargo on the PTU last night, and I was actually able to get full loads of laranite. It was amazing lol.
that's because it's the ptu
Of course
we always can do Laranite on ptu
Yeah those aren’t accurate.
@devout thistle gotta scroll right on terminal in refinery
the clothing terminal in refinery

slide over and you'll see the laser and consumable tab
shieeet
yep
I knew I was missing somethinf
@unkempt fossil I can send you my guide
just sent you my guide and 2 videos.
lemme know if you have questions
What would be a good CCU in the future for bigger and more efficient mining operations?
At the moment me and my friends are using a prospector each but I have an Anvil liberator that will be used whenever it comes out.
But what would be a good CCU after that? Our mining group is just getting bigger and bigger by each month.
You can start by using mole for now. Not sure if there will be like "mining capital" ships coming ATM 🤔
Liberator and Prospector, then get an orion

I can see it now
A liberator full of prospectors and ROCS
@distant wagon so your investment ended up getting me the tarus now xD
so wooo big cargo ship 😮 lol now i just need to get the mole
i know right that was my thought before buying it haha
@rough plinth damn nice, was a 30k well invested then
Vanguard Sentinel
Best sustainability and most reliable kills.
Join us in #flight-combat-racing !
Thanks whoever left behind 1 🤣
Finally got my prosp bought after getting distracted by a roc and 100i
Random question. I hate how not precise the mouse wheel laser power is, anyone got a stand alone slider thing that the can recommend
I wonder if the laser power slider could be set to up down mouse movement with a toggle button
looking for a mining duo partner
Alright so, at the time of me purchasing the Anvil Liberator we were only 5 people in my crew. We decided that I got the mobile mining hub (the Anvil Liberator) and the rest got prospectors.
Right now we've gotten an addition of 6, so we're up to 11 people.
We've now ended up with the following:
- 1 Anvil Liberator
- 2 Greycat Industrial ROCs
- 2 ARGO Moles
- One of my friends may buy a Hull C in the future
and then finally 5 prospectors
The rest of the crew will be refueling, repairing, rearming or defending.
I know it may seem like an overkill but the problem we have is that me, as the owner of the Anvil Liberator (mining hub) live in Sweden (CET / CEST depending on season) along with 2 others. The rest lives in the US...
My question basically is if I also should get a Prospector or MOLE since we barely will have any ships when I'm online.
5-8 people are almost always offline when I'm online. The only exceptions are when they are not working / are in school, usually on weekends.
Same goes for my friends here in Sweden.
On weekdays we only end up with 1-2 prospectors and 1 ROC.
These are of course plans for the future since the Anvil Liberator won't be out for a pretty long time. I can just hope that the rest of the parts go as fast as the first parts did.
@odd snow lemme know if you wanna go mining today
what modules do I need to buy for prospector was it surge torrent or smth
Surge, Stampede and Optimum
If you're doing asteroid belt then you only need the surge
I am at lyria area
Anyone here ?
Would like opinions
Just about to buy Hercules and leaning towards the M2
So the question is C2 or M2 ?
To me the M2 spec seems better other than scu and if I’m running a 3 man mole then there is also 3 seats on the bridge in the M2
@thin escarp I’m interested in seeing your guide and video, I have a mole but don’t get 1.5mil per hour anything to help me find the rocks faster 👍🏼
If you want to run cargo, get the C2.
I just had the same internal debate too. I went with the M2 purely out of preference interior and extra turret (and better stock components), despite the smaller cargo. Literally the only thing C2 is better for is higher cargo, but how often can you fill a full C2 anyway? The extra seats are useful if you have dudes to carry.
@hollow sedge my thoughts too !
Truthfully if you want to min/max trading, obviously the C2, but if you want to use it anything else whatsoever, M2
You can fill it every run if you want. You won't fill it with the "good" stuff, but you won't be able to do that with any ship big enough to justify running cargo. But you can always grab the next item down.
I pretty much run titanium with splashes of laranite. It makes good enough money.
I’ll be running quantainium with it
That's fine, I get that. For my small fleet the M2 fit better and it was worth the 174 less cargo.
Toz, I guess do you wanna mine for 16 prospector loads or 21, before you transport? that's the only difference then lol
Yeah pretty much. It just depends on how often you want to go sell. You can get a cheap Taurus for that if you want.
But that’s only 174scu
That's actually what I was going to buy (because I had no cargo ship) but decided to skip it and get a Herc
I think selling a full C2 is about 6m, so if you wanna see that big number, C2? If you're okay with more frequent travel and have friends, M2?
Yep
If you want to look around inside of mine before buy you can
Would love to tomorrow
If you are ever gonna have an A2, then it makes sense to just get the C2 also
A2 is not an ingame purchase though ?
Erkul doesn't show a buy place for it, so maybe not.
No, I think it's $750, only out of game real money
Maybe you could CCU to get it a little cheaper though, but usually not by much
I won’t be doing that 😂
But if you are about in the morning would defo like a look at the m2
Sure
Ahh depends where you are I suppose
EST
Ahh it’s 1am here
Will try and catch you in the morning your time then 👍🏼
And on that note… goodnight
Alright! I'll be around!
I recommend surge, stampede, and FLTR-XL.
I grabbed a lancet, focus 2 and two torrent 2
anyone on wanting to mine?
@lost zinc i can probably get ya in one of my moles
@thin escarp thanks I had some issues and had to do a player reset. I’ll be back on in a few hours .. I would love to ride the mole with you
How much money do people normally make in a prospector best case ?
200-270k if you know what your doing
Would u say ita faster then say bh mish ?
@gentle thorn
Hey bud this channel will. Be helpful for mining info and advise I think
I can’t spell 😂
No
Sucks when you can't sell at the refinery console. Dang bugs
Also a good time when the rock ui vanishes and that makes you blow up
unscannble rocks just a thing or am i being a plonker and not doing right ?
They are , if they don't scan then normally I go to the top of the rock facing towards the ground , then wait a few seconds and that normally works for me 😁 If that doesn't work then fly to another set of rocks , scan them and then fly back to the first rocks that didn't scan and try again 😁
Ah i will give that try ty
Your welcome
Worst case assume they are trash and move on, plenty of rocks! 😄
yeah thankfully after that bunch ive found four 30scu loads of quant so thats enough for today
I wonder how effecient you could mine by not going for quant
so you take everything but quant and use the "filter" modules on your mining head
Can i do some cargo with someone Im so confused to how it works i lost money instead of getting more after following a guide :/
In the end it just won't match up because Q is double the next highest material.
what did you try to trade?
it sold for 9k when i sold it
i rented a Constellatoion armadas someting like that i only ave it for another 5 hours but i own a cutlass black
Andromeda
yea
ty
o7 got a question. Would it be worth it to rent a prospector to mine? Does it even come with the right mining laser so i can mine quantanium? You cant change loadouts of rentet stuff right?
Its not worth renting a Prospector
Would this be a good fleet for mining operations, or should I change anything? I've never really been into mining, so I don't really know what miners I should bring.
If my crew stays the same size until the release of the Anvil Liberator, we are going to be a total of about 10 people to operate everything.
3 in the mole,
1 in each prospector (2 people in total)
That would leave 5 people on the Anvil Liberator, 2 of them ready to hop into an arrow each if we detect a threat.
NOTE: All these ships will fit onboard the Anvil Liberator if the development team doesn't decide to make it smaller, which I don't think will happen. Yes, it would be hard to get everything onboard. But it's not impossible.
I don’t think it’d be hard to get those aboard. It’s an alright set up, by all means I’d shove those prospectors inside if they fit and keep the arrows on top for QRF
@quiet night if ur in space ghost rocks are a thing. not on moons though
Side note, if I was you, I’d use 1-2 more people on your liberator to act either as further security in arrows. You can fit two arrows per pad.
Thanks for the help with the mining heads btw. Got a 30 solo load of quant last night.
if your doing laranite cargo runs good luck. half the time you cant get any.
You run a mining org right? Or is that someone else?
@cedar flower yeah you won't make like any money doing that.
bexalite and borase Taranite are somewhat okay to mine
@uncut grotto your talking content that's years away. right now I run weekly mining operations with moles and scouts and a small security team. but what your gonna run into with the liberator is the lack of a refinery. that quant timer will hurt ya.
when the time comes having an orion in every op is a necessity
@hollow sedge hi are you about ? Wouldn’t mind a quick look inside your m2 if possible please
Can someone help me start out with mining?
@hollow sedge you need to speak to @thin escarp
alrr
LOL miners claim mining is the best and fastest way to make money, b bounty hunters claim bounties is the fastest way to make money, now which one is it???
of course
theres really no way for us to know when concept ships will be flyable
1 year, 2 years, 3 years? we really dont know but i just like setting up fleets
sometimes i just take some random ships and see how well they would work together
hmm i guess that would fit a prospector?
the thing is i wanna be able to do both
bounty when feeling adventurous and mining when i wanna relax and sit back
yes both is fun for sure
i have been doing combat and the make me decent amount
but i heard prospector mining makes u decent amount too
well my 1st mining experience was more stress full than bounties, I got bullied of my gems a couple of time
haha
If a Prospector fits in that, it'll be a very tight squeeze.
@lusty willow I made 5.7 million yesterday mining.
you can't expect amazing results when you try mining the first time. gotta know what your doing.
@hollow sedge def can show ya hot to average 200-270k a run ina prospector.
yes I understand that just did not expect the total bug out of the ROC and then to be bullied off the gems didnt help either. Your 5.7 I am sure was not with a ROC?
I am not running a prospector, still need to get to the 2 mil mark barely scraping 500K at the moment
i saved up to 3 mil for a good or hoprfully maxed setup for mining to make most profit
but i have no idea where to start
I'll send my guide to start
you mentioned Aberdeen, what is Daymar like for mining?
not as much hadanite as aberdeen or arial
the hot weather suit I can get in the orbital station at aberdeen?
@thin escarp would you say teh freelancer is more beneficial to use with a ROC than a Cutty?
where do i get the hot weather undersuit
arc l1 has Pembroke
it's at most refineries I believe. but I know 100% it's at arc l1
ok so I need roughly around 6 mil for a sentinel and prospector fully kitted
The short coming here is refinery, and there may be a smaller refinery option that would need to be included. Swap the MOLE for refinery is what I'm thinking
I have found the FL MAX to absolutely fantastic with using the ROC. It offers wide and easy RORO (roll-on, roll-off), it offers excellent fuel efficiency, handling is decent if you don't over speed, it is small and compact and can land in tight areas much easier than an MSR or Taurus. I've used the MAX exclusively for ROC mining for over a year.
thx good to know, Max is just kinda expensive though
First dollars spent should be for the Prospector, it will then feed all your other SC dreams
2.1M aUEC, about same price as a Prospector. Worth renting a ship to haul refinery jobs until you can buy one
Plus the MAX can carry about 4 or more Prospector refinery jobs at one go
The 120 SCU is a good amount of space
I CCU'd my MAX to the Taurus but then bought the MAX in-game because I found it more handy for ROC mining and use
You can buy the cutty to use for ROC transport (I did this for the longest originally). Now remember, ROC mining isn't in a good place at the moment, CIG has ignored some critical issues with its gameloop since 3.14
@north oyster ta thx for all the info
I'm late to the conversation, but what are you focusing on for the moment? ROC mining or working up to Prospector?
Well I been doing bounties mainly to work towards a sentinel, but also wanted to try the mining aspect, been playing just over a week so not to clued up yet. Everyone has been telling me not to rent a prospector, so I have a Titan and a Cutty, bought a ROC in game and just wanted to try that side too to see what it is like and to figure which side will make the the most money the fastest in the beginning
They are right "rent a prospector" is a bad idea because it can only train you. You'll be hard pressed to earn back the rental fee. The ROC/Cutty combo is a good earner but you will be having to put in a number of hours to get the hang of it and earn back your investment. A full ROC of hadanite is about 225K aUEC (or more). Sadly though, with ping, scan, and a few other challenges, your earnings per hour won't be fantastic.
If you buy a Prospector, then that is the start of some serious earning potential. Your runs can be about 250K to 275K aUEC per trip. Your cutty can take refinery jobs to the market (it can take about two)
Well I am willing to put in the work to get the hang of it, I struggled in the beginning with the bounties but by keeping at it I got better and worked my way up to VHs
that's awesome. If I could offer advice, I would say earn up the funds for the Prospector. Add in the Lancet laserhead (not expensive) and you are pretty much ready to go
So from the sound of it I will just have to chip away at it untill I get my 1st 2.5 then I will have to decide what I want to get the Sentinel or the Prospector
There are other tweaks, but they are secondary to what you really need.
The Prospector will be a cash cow for you if done right
OK awesome thanks, seems like one I have a prospector I will be able to make the funds fairly easy to get the Sentinel 2nd
I think so, I've earned over 10M aUEC and I've not had that much time to play. I have some simple tips when you are ready to make it pay you most coin per minute as possible.
The Prospector will earn 2M for the Sentinel pretty quickly
Awesome thanks so much, truly appreciated
Yep.. I’m about 12M since the wipe
Did they fixed the bug when a new patch comes out, all your work orders are deleted ? 🤔
NO, you should anticipate a refinery wipe when a new patch it applied
I wouldn’t risk.. if you know a patch is coming I pull and sell.. better 80% than 0%
Even the “minor” patches
Tru dat
I have already cleared all my refinery jobs for now and I'm going with Ferron Exhange for any new jobs and then taking them to market as soon as done
hmm alright
I've been toying with the same idea that you are laying out here, but mine would be a more solo centric setup. The idea of having Salvage, Mining and Refining operation and using the Liberator as the base for those operations.
yeah i guess that would be a good idea in some situations
imma think about it and try to find something new
I originally thought the Odyssey would be that ship, but that was a fail. The more I look at the Liberator, the more appeal it has to me. I will certainly be buying it in-game for that focus
as soon as i heard about it i checked it out
i really wanted to buy it when it was out with LTI but i didnt have the money so i waited until november and bought it at the anvil day of the IAE
kinda rip i didnt catch the LTI in time but atleast i got 120 month insurance
They consider 10year to be essentially the same as LTI. I bought the Argo they offered because that was a cheap LTI token (well, 10yr token). I may get a CCU to the Liberator from the Argo I bought this Invictus Week
i gotta say, i really love the condor paint for the liberator
I'm hoping the "time to flyable" for these ships will be quicker than previous jpg's. Still waiting on my Corsair. I picked up the 400i to use as an LTI token for the Hull C. I can't wait to apply that CCU and get the Hull C running jobs also
im pretty sure that the corsair will be out the end of 2022 or start of 2023
i feel like the simple shape of the liberator will have an effect on the completion speed
just like we can see on the first parts of development
not even 4 months before they were complete
meanwhile other ships can take half a year up to who even knows how long
@north oyster have they scheduled a time for the release of Pyro or is it still just a speculation? or maybe hinted a bit?
i really havent checked in on the Pyro development part of star citizen
the thing is i have a bit of hope that the liberator will be released only a couple months after pyro, since it was after all made for "travel between star systems"
hmmmm i wonder which ones that can be?
That will be dependent upon server meshing. At that point the game will become alpha 4.0
yeah... i think the liberator is kinda dependent on that too since ive heard a lot about how the servers really wont like carriers
dont know if its true, but i just gotta keep my fingers crossed
that it wont be 100 years before the release of the liberator
whats the best laser for solo mining quant in a mole?
someone told me lancet but idk where to buy
best planet for ROC??
Clothing terminals at the refinery’s, tabs at the top, use your mouse wheel to scroll them as the utility tabs hidden as buying t shirts at a refinery is apparently more use than actual mining heads
As far as mining, I know the prospector is preferred for a one man crew but what about a ship for trading/hauling?
Cat is working on the PTU, so hopefully it'll be working on the next update for the PU.
im ROC mining and the gems just swarm the extraction laser but dont go in storage at all
do people make ok mony doing cargo runs ? whenever i land somewhere to pick up any cargo acording the the trade website the terminals never seem to see my ship is this normal ?
@mental granite getting out and moving a gem into your personal inventory from the roc can fix that
@unkempt fossil what's the issue
Looking for some people to A). Fill my mole and have a scout, or B). Run my 3 prospectors and a scout for them. Everyone gets paid good.
Thanks, that worked!
Np! It's wonky
A lot of stations, especially those without landing pads, have abug where they wont detect your ships. this makes cargo hauling really rough right now, but normally cargo is decent, slow paced low profits
i make about 30-40k per run in my taurus and that run can take like 10 mins give or take if the place wants to sell me stuff or buy stuff
oh nice then
@analog field Everytime I try and break a rock that's above 25% it just doesn't break open on the quantanium
I need help plz
What are you using? The rental prosp won't break big quant rocks.
With a lancet 2 torrent 2s and a focus 2 I've broke 48% quant 5k mass rock
Do we still have ghost asteroids? (show as minable but don't scan)
Correct but only in space. Planet side doesn't
how do I mine bigger rocks?
Better ship or more than one person
Now that JT is over I'm trying to figure out how to grind the last bit of money I need, is trading working right now?
Are caterpillars still broken?
Yes, but they're fixed on the PTU, so they should be fixed on the next patch for live.
Ok. Ty
it is, just depends on ship and commodity
Better to mine for more consistentcy
well i mean if they have like a taurus they could trade astatine for good consistency
@quiet night thanks:)
Best planet to mine Quant?
Lyria or the belt
Lyria has no ghost rocks but has people who will kill you and rocks the will be to big for a single prosp to pop
Does anybody know of a ROC mining calculator
Does where I hit a rock matter when mining?
@fresh ivy nah
@olive wagon for?
generally people just mine hadanite
til they fill up
ah well, can't quite crack this rock then
@fresh ivy prospectors can have a hard time breaking big rocks.
like over 5500 mass
you need to have the correct modules to break the bigger ones
like surge
Yeah, I'm kitted out with modules etc
just couldn't quite get through this 7700 rock
but i could get painfully close
rough
There any way to fix the not able to sell ore at the terminal?
What kind of a place are you selling it at
And what are you selling
Wanted the check the price of unrefined quant in my prosp before i refine, but won't show up at the sell terminal
you wearing a backpack?
Nope
How exactly does a server hop work
I know you can change from usa to eu but not servers within us
I can refine but not sell, super odd
I generally refine if i get a ton and just sell the smaller loads to keep cash up to refine
Just strange it works sometimes but not others
Seems it's a very very common bug with no work around
SO i havent ran any cargo in a while. Is 3.16 improved compared to prior patches? Seems like whenever I try to run cargo its either out of stock or I cant sell
Shame thats like my favorite thing to do
its supposed to be the best way to make money atm. Always refine the ore and then sell it. I heared you can make millions pretty quickly that way. Also lot of yt vids available for this topic
Is there a place where I can fill up an MSR full of Agricium without all the wait?
There is also a danger of you blowing your ship up if you cant deliver within in 15 minutes though, high reward but also high risk
in the aron belt how long does it take you guys on average to find a decent quant rock ?
depends where you drop out
if you're looking for quant though Lyria is very good
Is there a bonus for refining Quant at Cru L1?
Yes
how much of a bonus?
3%
I spent about an hour mining yesterday afternoon, 4 loads in my prospector made me over 950k when I sold it this morning, just need to luck on your side finding the rocks, decent audio book or music on and it's pretty relaxing and easy money
yeah also heared that the only thing that can take longer is actually finding the ore. Sometimes you are lucky sometimes you search for while. I am actually working on getting better bounties atm to be able to afford the prospector and start mining.
Hurston system -Aberdeen or Arial. I think Aberdeen is the best but it is also the most hilly terrain. Arial is pretty good and is mostly flat as a board. The issue with ROC mining is that the PING is close to worthless so you are flying blind hoping to bump into a gem deposit. It is functional but CIG broke the system with 3.15. Also the collector is wonky and you have to go slow with it only scooping up from the edge and doing single or double gems at a time. Some say you can just backup and let them drop to the group, but I turn the engine off while I mine (old habit from when the ROC would just creep all over the place when you tried to mine).
for Aaron's Halo, the outer bands is where you want to look to search for Quantainium. As an example, CRU-L1 to ARC-L3, if you drop out at 12M km or higher (closer to CRU-L1) you will be hard pressed to find any rocks. I have found you need to drop out at 11.5M km or closer to ARC-L3, even in the upper 10M km range. Hitting the kill switch near 11.3M km might get you good results. Not all the time, but sometimes I even drop right on top of a high % rock.
If you have a high failure rate of unscanable asteroids, that is a bad server.
If you want to learn the ropes and earn while you do, hook up with @thin escarp and his crew. You will gain the skill set pretty quick with their industrial operation. You will come away very glad you have a MOLE to use.
@crimson mantle I just wanted to drop a quick note and say Thank you for your website. I really appreciate it and its contribution to the SC community.
I guess the Roc has a cargo where it puts the gems. Can you actually shift them over to like a cutlass? Or do you have to load the roc into your ship and fly somewhere to sell it?
im thinking about a 2 man operation here. Where a m8 flys over you with a cutlass for usuable pings and guiding. And as soon as the roc is full just off load into the ship and go on while the other sells stuff
You can do it that way, I'm not sure if boxes in the ship have the 30k protection. Also, you can sell the gems at any outpost, they do more require refining
Is there anyone I can mine with at lyria??
what is the 30k Protection?
3
Where’d you go to mine that?
Lmfao
Paradise Cove area?
Literally all of lyria
Gott damn
The only clusters on lyria are quantanium clusters
So we just search for clusters and long as percents are good we mine
When I mine with the ROC, Im forced to aim with my head tracking. How to I bring control back to my mouse?
The only controls I've unbound from the mouse was flight pitch and roll/yaw
There’s a keybind you can see in the FOIP control area that turns off tracker.
I bound it to “
Yeah no joke lmao
What is a good money making cargo mission on the cutty black?
Laranite is always good
Is it broken in 3.15 though?
It's not broken, there jsut isn't very much at any one time due to everyone buying as much as they can
Oh I see
You usually have to buy the next desirable item, which doesn't pay anywhere near as much, but unless you want to spend hours filling with only the good stuff, it's what you do. You can still make good money with enough cargo space doing that.
I'm not sure a Cutty would be big enough for it to be worth it. You might make more doing box missions, which are pretty low pay for the work involved.
can you only buy drugs during JT?
you can buy drugs anytime, but you can only buy and sell small amounts.. JT was special because there were an unlimited supply and unlimited demand so it was very profitable
ok
Anyone had any problems with the Hercules Starlifter not storing at the consoles ?
could use an extra hand mining on my mole. '
@worldly ledge the problem is the same for most big ships (Hercules, Carrack, etc…)
@faint river just wasn’t sure if it was something I was doing like pulling too far forward ?!?!
No it’s not you it’s a bug
how do i set up my prospecter to mine quantanium
Anyway to avoid the large surcharge at refineries?
Lancet MH1 minjng head with surge, stampede, and whatever 3rd module you choose. Atlas quantum drive, take off the guns.
where do i get modules
@pure portal https://imgur.com/a/7Rwn1fy
I use lance, 2 torrents and a focus 3 can break 5k 49%s
The server keeps a "heartbeat" of your ship. I think it's updated every few minutes (3, 5, not sure). If a 30K happens, you log back in at your spawn point, when you go to the ASOP you will have an option to retrieve your ship (Do NOT Claim) and it will be in the last state is was before the 30K. In theory you do not loose your cargo. This does not work for client crashes or if your ship is destroyed, etc.
Port Olisar is a good spot for Surge (remember, get Size 1 for the Prospector) and other components. Of course the first thing is the Lancet laser head, and upgraded QT engine is recommended. I use the Siren (just below the VX-00 fastest QT). If you mine in Aaron's Halo, then no other components are required. I do use Surge to speed things up. If you mind on the moon surface of Lyria, then you will need other items to help with the larger boulders above 5K.
is there a website i can look at with the modules and lasers?
Most all your Refinery stores have components. CIG creates an artificial scarce condition, so you have to look around
i mean DPS calculater is telling me i cant get the lance head
Yes, the Lancet is the best laser head for Quantainium mining, and it's not very expensive. The Helix, which use to be king of the hill, while still the most powerful does not give you a reasonable "green zone" to charge the ore. And to top it off, the Helix is the most expensive laser at over 120K aUEC
I'm not sure if this site is up to date, but might be worth checking out:

@north oyster I sent him my guide he should be good now
idk if anyone has said this or not but if you are solo mining with a mole absolutely have to have this setup.
mining laser for breaking should be as follows: lancet, with surge, brandt, and i prefer vaux S3 for the lesser instability
extract laser: helix (faster) with 3 Filter S3... gets rid of 60% of inert
i just got a full mole with just over 80SCU of pure quant. worth a whopping 704,000aUEC.
that is situational tho supposing you find enough Quantanium
Hey all, I am a bit confused, why is the Lancet the best lazer for the Prospector? Doesnt the Helix have a much higher power output or is lower better in this case?
Even with lower quant rocks this still makes breaking easier, and filters out inert materials.
Even if the rock isn’t enough to fill your cargo with the inert getting taken in the lancet reduces instability by 75%, the helix collects the materials faster allowing for more time to get back safe, the surge makes breaking faster and possible if it’s a big moon rock, Brandt helps the instability again, you could even swap out the 3 filters for the module that increases extract time, but I’d rather have the filter for those nice big clusters.
And the filters make small % rocks next to large % rocks actually worth cracking for that little bit extra.
Lancet is slower to break by a little margin but more stable in terms of less energy spikes within a Minable object
I do too. I’m just saying. When there is a 10% rock next to a 30 most people ignore the 10. But with filters you can actually get a decent bit without getting a ton of trash.
is prospector scanning broken?
there are False rocks in planets and space that are not scannable
...oh what the
i just got the prosp and was wondering what was going on lmao, i thought it was broken
they will show up like normal rocks and physically be there but they are fake
ahh okay, thanks
@valid pawn only ghost rocks in space
lyria doesnt have ghost rocks
make sure you kitted that prospector out with laser and modules
Is quant mining in a prospector profitable
Seen things saying you can make 500k an hour on a bad day
And was wondering if it was true
Does Jettison cargo not work? o,0
Rather jettisoning the mining cargo I mean
Nvm guess only when it's really unstable
yes it is true, all depends a bit on luck how fast you find the ores. Could be anything between 250k- 700k or more per hour. Or Less if you dont find stuff. I tried ROC mining yesterday and was kinda unlucky finding that stuff but even then i made 100k ez not even a full cargo, it just got late and i locked out
@urban sky you can do 200-270k easily per run
runs can take like 15-30 minutes depending on your skills and a lil luck
some of my guys pull 2-3 mil a day
i did 5.7 mil yesterday
but i'm using moles.
yeah mole OP 😄 getting there is the hard part. Im currentyl saving up for a prospector to then go for a mole. I dont expect that i need much longer then this week to finish it (while working normally)
well you also need a crew for the mole so doesn't fit everyone
It's more fun with a crew, but you don't need it
having tried both solo Prospector is way faster than trying to solo a mole
why is that ? @marble crater
you can either fly or be in the turret, so everytime you need to move even a tiny bit you have to physically travel across to the bridge
ahh ok
do you guys put the cargo directly into a refinery or do you shift it into another ship ( might not even be possible as i think about it)
espiacally cause its volatile af
@umbral folio drop it off at the refinery
once refined
its not volatile
once ur ship is stored the timer stops
ok ty
sure, but i am still working on getting my prospector. Currentyl i am either doing bounties or renting a cutty and ROC to mine
mining with a ROC was actually surprisingly profitable
I’m going for a prospector so I can buy a bunch of ships I want in game
The Connie, 600i, Valkyrie, harbringer and a few others
Finally got the beast .... my new M2 ... ahhhhhhhh
she got a big mouth too , lol
uh nice Gz man
on a serious note... does anyone know why no matter what components are used Erkul games says the shields will always eventually overheat on the Argo Mole ? I've already had this happen so upgraded both shields and cooler but havn't tested since doing that last night. it was only today i thought i'd check Erkul
@thin escarp ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
@worldly ledge nice man!
@thin escarp actually it was about the question above but i think i see the problem is due to the charging/idle switch on erkul
@thin escarp ships computer was screaming at me about the shields overheating
upgrade the power
constantly
ok thanks... sidenote... next ship is for occasional scouting work, when i get it i'll give you a shout
@thin escarp
gotchu man
I was very happy yesterday
Found me a rock with 32 SCU of Quant in it
Well it had 44.. so a friend took some as well 😄
Yes boss
I beleive it was 7.8k rock
I was not paying muhc attention my friend found it
It was 44% though
@tropic swallow was it in a cluster /single / pair ?
Pair
I found a cluster of 9 rocks.. with and 11% 17% and 24%
And my friend found 1 44% rocks
So we mined theirs lol
2 lancets make it really easy to mine..
@worldly ledge
I know it is viable to mine QT on Lyria solo in the Prospector. Even with a lancet, but I find it easier and a lot more fun to do it with another person.. That way they can find rocks while you are on route to the refinery etc.
Either
Lancet x2
Lancet + Helix
I take the Filter module, lifeline and a stampede. The Helix does not need modules, aside from the filter where necessary as I refine all the QT and split the profits
@tropic swallow yep i know 🙂
i use surge/stampede/brandt on either side and then filter with the center laser
😆
sick you made the icons yourself?
@umbral folio yep
wheres good places to mine?
@tough gust quant or hadenite ?
matching pc too 😆
its all about the orange hahahaha
ARGO all the way
@umbral folio
its really nice
i got it as a loaner ship for the Anvil Liberator
i just love the looks of it
lolol sick 😄
yeah i had to get a couple of paints for it too 🤦♂️
ooo damn
@worldly ledgeboth
really like the blue iridescent one !
@tough gust Aberdeen for Hadenite ( use heat suit from refinerys and buy ROC when can and upgrade coolers )
looks hostile af
nice
@worldly ledgethank you
@tough gust occasionally reset the ROC by claiming it... you can park outside hut to sell hadenite and then just run over and claim the ROC back to the pad to re-fresh it ( first time i did it though it made me jump because the old ROC becomes red and looked like a pirate lol
@uncut grotto THIS is hostile !
wait you can just claim the ROC and the cargo stays in there?
yeah that paint is awesome
Can you actually crack any bigger rocks with the mole solo
no... do mining, sell cargo then claim
@umbral folio in between runs
ahhh ok makes sense
any idear what i can avoid to dont loose the ROC while its in a ship (besides just claiming it from station to station)
what do you mean ?
Lost my ROC in my catty yesterday while changing moons laded ROC gone
thats a bug, never happened to me
i might have had a fight in between 😄 so i am not sure if its the fighting that made it glitch out or the warping
i fell out of my ship warping because i was too close to the station before i warped
actually i lost a real world money paid for suit until the next server wipe or i have to reset character because of it
lul also a good one. What also happend to me ( which i reported) is when you are on a station go in and dont store come back out and warp away the station might have actually startet storing your ship so you get teleported back and you have to reclaim your ship. The bug here is that the station voiceline didnt make it through
i heared about that. At least you can get it back at some point ^^
do you know what happens if your rental runs out ? Does the ship just despawn or will it be on the next docking?
don't talk to me about rentals ! i lost 800,000 credits because of a rental connie !
oooof
it said expired but didnt expire and was still able to load work orders onto it from the refinery by accident after renting another connie ! couldnt get them back !
i just wish cig would hurry up and make expired retals disappear from the list everywhere
yeah or just dont let you put up orders that would exceed the rent time
Anything I can upgrade to make the ROCs mining a bit faster?
No
ok thanks 🙂 much appreciated
just take soooo long to fill the 80cSCU in it
What to do when extractor has overheated? my system shut down and now I cant pick up the gems?
How long have you been using your ROC bud?
lul it can overheat? 😄 never had that
It cant overheat, but they do have a lifetime now
for about 2 hours I would say today, engines wont even start
Yh, sounds like it ran out of juice
I suggest manually loading everything onto your ship and then claiming your roc
seriously damn..... 40 cSCU 🙈
Yup
That's why I dont normally go beyond about an hour to an hour and a half in the same ROC
can I repair it?
Nope
Even if you manage to drive the ROC onto a vehicle pad, you cant repair it to recharge
if you time it right, you can just pull everything from the ROC into the ship your carrying it in, but it sounds like you weren't that lucky. I hope you have a lot of personal storage
oh ffs this sucks, so you pay 172K for a thing that stops working after a while
We think it runs out of battery, and currently refueling doesn't count as recharging
hopefully CIG will fix this soon
And dont forget, you can still claim it and get a free one virtually instantly
is there a way for me to put down a beacon or map marker so I can come back to the same location, I do not have a backpack with me as I never knew this crap could happen
Nope
You can try leaving your vehicle there and going to get one, but it might get despawned
hopefully when they work on the nav-mesh, we will be able to mark locations
i thought things dont despawn?
It's iffy sometimes
Give it a try. the worst that can happen is you might lose your ROC
Wait, where are you mining??
Where can I sell refined ore that isn’t the major planet side city’s
Kind of. Pick up a box mission, grab the box for said mission, place it where you want a marker to be.
Then you can track or untrack the mission to have the box show or not.
Good to know that the ROC has a invis battery / charging level. So i guess the best is after 1.5hours sell your shit and spawn it new? Or doesnt it "charge" when you store it?
Any Aussies having issues mining tonight? Even on aus servers I'm getting scanning/mining desync. No net issues
@lusty willow did they fix the ROC? it was really buggy before.
The last time I tried you couldn’t mine anything 😂
is the actual JT lab back in its normal spot on Yela?
The Roc is indeed fixed
mining is fine I just did not know it could break, was my mistake not the rocs
I'm having a different issue though: When I scan rocks for Roc mining, 80% of the time it doesn't actually show what's in the rocks
anyone have a solution to that?
that from your ship or from the ROC?
Are refinery jobs lost on the updates 16.1 16.2 16.3 ?
i had that too only thing that helped was switching servers
ive just read on reddit that the cooler seems to die on the ROC due to wear and tear. I will check this later maybe you can check right now if it looses durability if you are mining atm
canbtg mine or move at all at the moment, every 15 min or so I can move it for about 10 seconds before it shuts down again, it does however fix if you claim it
Guys.... Like I said earlier.. claim your rock in between runs, it will reset its health. Just leave it outside the place where you sell... run over to the other hut and claim it
*ROC
I used to do a few runs and then claim
also if mining on aberdeen ( the best place for hadenite ) try and buy a ROC because you can then upgrade the coolers on it ( just buy the relevent coolers (check erkul) and then they automatically get attached
would be good to have anykind of indicator for this. I was hoping the cooler would be good for this instead of having a stopwatch everytime you turn it on 😄
i never used to fill the entire 80scu i think i always sold at 50 scu just in case
@limber holly I never scanned rocks for ROC mining .... fly up to patch of rocks hold F and scroll wheel to zoom in ... if its PINK it don't STINK ( you can't apply this rule to real world situations 😆 )
fair point
@limber holly @umbral folio another tip is to get voiceattack ( software ) and create a button ( or voice command ) with a repeat rule on press and hold a button that then pings the radar every 3 seconds with 1 press to cancel...... this saves having to constantly mash the tab key
turn and burn on anything that is below 1200
anyone know what the sell timers are for drugs from JT?
is there a way to see what is on my ship while in it? does cargo show up in normal inventory?
@midnight lantern press I and go to Vehicles tab
that’s what your ship’s local inventory has in it.
I as an India
This extends to materials purchased from traders as well? I know clothing and werapons show, but I cannot see the scrap i purchased 😥
Scrap won’t show in your local inventory @midnight lantern
If you want to see cargo that you purchased visibly, go look at your cargo bay
Just be sure to not LEAVE your ROC in your ship when you claim it because you will have a dud ROC stuck in your ship (not that I personally know why!!)
yep forgot to mention that lol
Cargo(stuff that is traded and bartered) shows up in a ship’s cargo hold. Personal items are different however, as those are everyday items like helmets, guns, Medpens, etc.
For example all of these boxes here are cargo. These are drugs I bought from JT.
This is different from a ship's inventory since these aren't personal items I can interact with besides selling and buying them
ROC components wear out quick, it might be good to park every 2nd or 3rd trip to sell off the gems and reclaim it to make is fresh again. However do not leave it parked in your ship when you go to claim it, it will turn into a ROC size paperweight and will stay there until you claim your ship 😦 ... ask me why I know this, LOL
Love this, LOL, and yes, with scan being totally screwy, this is the way to go
do ROCS have different modules and shit rn like Prospectors do?
or have they not fleshed out ground mining that much yet?
I gotcha. I must have been doing something wrong then. I only have a starter ship, and I think it only let me buy 3 scrap, unfortunately I couldnt see it anywhere, and I tried selling it at a place, but it wont let me select it. I will keep messing around to figure it out
No, they are complete at the moment, @autumn mist
@midnight lantern did you store your ship?
Scrap is broken, you will need to claim your ship
i did, I am guessing you cannot sell if it is stored?
not really any point to even buying scrap I’m pretty sure.
@midnight lantern nah I was gonna recommend you store it but looks like scrap is just buggy.
Scrap, when it's not "crap" is ok in very large volume like in a C2
CIG totally broke Scarp trading awhile back, it's still fubar
interesting. is there a way to get rid of it? i'm guessing you cannot just dump it or something
Holy shit the server tick timers for selling Widow and Slam are so god awful right now
The only way to clear it is to claim your ship.
you'll need to go to another station and make an insurance claim
@midnight lantern since your ship is stored right now, I would recommend you spawn it and fly to another station but don’t land on the pad. just leave it hovering somewhere off the side of the station
that way none of the stations have any idea where the fuck your ship is. and then you can file a claim on it
alright. i'll give that a try. appreciate the help, i guess i'll just avoid that commodity
laranite is pretty decent rn for hauling
but if you can’t fill up your ship entirely, go for titanium instead
trade tools website broken? always says no results
@limber holly thanks man
LF MOLE team / Mining in Aaron Halo Belt / need 3 Boom Operators
Still the case?
anyone got any good tips for making bank in the c2 hercules (cargo)
yea
Really enjoying mining and getting decent results with Quant. Next stage for me is transporting it all. I haven't been super active with mining due to JT (could have made so much more money) and I've still got about 160 SCU so that's a number I can definitely increase. Today it took me 2 hours and 5 trips to move the refined Quant from ARC L1 to Area 18 for selling and that's going to really eat into my profit making, so I want a bigger ship to reduce this.
I've been eyeing up the Starfarer Gemini primarily for this role, but also to act as a drop ship for the org I'm in and I also think the refueling element also sounds useful. What makes it so attractive is the flexibility of it; it's got loads of storage, heavy armour and shields, and decent firepower.
Another way would be to go down the Mercury Star Runner route. I've loved this ship since I first watched the 'Architect Reviews' YT video for it and will be getting it when I can. My thought is that it can still do large transportation for mining, but I've always wanted it and I love the data running idea.
Is there anything else I should consider? Have I missed something?
Freelancer max = 1.3 mole loads
C2 herc = 20 prospector loads
Have you done cost analysis of the cutlass black or freelancer available to rent in the refinery deck?
I'm using a prospector atm and generating around 160 SCU per day of Quant.
Freelancer max is undeniably the most cost effective, but it also doesn't seem to have the flexibility of being a drop ship, heavily armoured, or the refueling part/increase what kind of gameplay I can do whereas the others do.
Currently running a Cutlass Black.
Im guessing all kinds of commodities cannot be sold at all trade locations? is there a central location that will buy all types of cargo?
@rain karma i love my new M2 !
@rain karma constilation line? Those are more all purpose than a pure cargo ship.
anyone need a crewmate right now?
@rain karma can do 4.6mil in one run
I love it too. Absolute beast. One of our guys has got a cargo one which is cool. I just fancied something different. How does the M2 compare to the star fairer in terms of toughness etc? I love the bombing runs.
@rain karma i don't know i've literally just bought it yesterday
and 2 paints
Yeah, constilation Taurus I think I was also debating.
Lol. She's a beauty.
@rain karma had to get the orange paint to go with my mole
C2 returns varies but I'm hitting between 80K to 120K per run
I know you already know this, but you are dancing on the knife's edge if the new 3.16.1 patch goes LIVE. I would be burning the roads with that cutty running it to A18 TDD. I use the MAX or Taurus for most my runs
there's cargo to buy?!
Yes, actually "plenty" but you just have to have luck and timing on your side
im still tramatized by 30ks 5 seconds after i buy cargo
no one need a hand mining?
Can't help that but 30K's 5 minutes after buying isn't bad
Yeah, I am. I've got 5 more loads that'll be done refining tomorrow and then I'll be waiting until 3.16.1. If I lose it, I lose it. Ha.
@acoustic garnet was looking for a crew
yeah, I cleared house this past weekend. Just running cargo now until the threat is over
If it happens, it happens. Alpha game so everything will likely get wiped again at some point. Bought the Prospector with IRL cash to get money back up again for when this happens. Currently debating if I should buy the Starfarer IRL with next pay packet too.
(its got a lot of doors to go though)
@acoustic garnet you got a crew mining vessel?
The Starfarer has an awesome future with both refueling and refinery options.
Zero to Hero is a good exercise. I got too rich before the great reset. I didn't realize becoming too wealthy in the game would make one so unmotivated
I did like sponsoring other's to help them get into mining. I was able to spend down before 200M before the wipe
Wowsers
What is the sate of mining atm? Prospector/ ROC, last time i was active mining, when ROC was introduced. Tried playing again like 2 months ago, but everything was broken mess.
Pretty decent, but I only just started playing about 3/4 weeks ago
So I don't l ow what it was like before
Can make a fortune mining Quant
that what im trying to get into rn but i cant find a crew
I honestly think it's broken based on how much you earn in such a short space of time.
Crew for mining Quant?
yeah seems no one is mining rn
Are you using Refinery?
What do you need a crew for? I'm not being an arse, just interested?
Probably for MOLE
i dont have a mining ship or anything and thought itd be nice to crew up
Ah
and i leave for like 2 weeks so no point in renting
You can rent a Prospector. It's better to mine Quant in a Prospector, either on your own or in a group of 3/4
Have been, yep
@rain karma i don't know if you know this but you can drop the heavy ship at the port and take a smaller one down to the city to sell to save a tiny bit of time
its too expensive for me rn
Do boxes/handmine to get the 50 @worthy bough or rent a roc/cutty and do that
Yep, thanks though. I only have a Cutlass right now, but I'll be using that trick when I get something bigger.
I can send you the money if you want to rent one and try it out?
nono its alright haha imma be away from my computer for like 2 weeks itd be a waste of money
Ship mining is great, if not the best option to earn serious coin in the game. ROC mining is still messed up and hardly worth the effort.
Check with @thin escarp and his crew. They run a huge operation with multiple ships and players doing massive mining. They train and pay you while you learn. He has this system down to an art.
do i tag him or dm?
guys do not rent prospectors. the stock laser is useless and it will turn you off mining haha
LOL, I was just trying to type that out
Trying to sponsor me now lol. Just started, still saving for first ship
Currently I'm rebuilding to a base of funds (aka what I consider zero starting point) which is about 50M aUEC. After that, I will be hoping to help aspiring miners get started.
Geez, thats still a lot of money. How do you make all that so quickly?
Mining and Trade. But mainly mining. Let me know when you get close to your goal for a Prospector.
Started a few days ago, still in the Mustang. Doing bounties to save up a little and buy a new ship, Haven't decided exactly what to get yet.
Starting with the Mustang does limit you because you can't do deliveries. The Titan is a good next step and might be worth looking at
go for gladius next. about 1.1mil+100k for weapons. you'll keep it until VHRT and then start making good money (65k/20min)
before the last reset I was a billionaire. the last 10 days before 3.15 I gave 800 million to new players/aspiring miners
1.1mil is a lot of money, spent maybe 10 hours and up to 400k
I run massive scale mining operations. 30-45 deep.
@sacred idol I can help ya earn n learn man
Id be down to learn from the master lol
it's an invest. yes it takes time but rather go straight to 1.1Mil than spending 700k in a titan then 1.1Mil in a gladius then 2.2Mil in a pros
I recommend working Cross and his team, he's a proven leader in this field. You will gain a lot by plugging into & learning and earn
the grind for bounties rep is long too btw
it took alot of work. probably have done 2k + mole runs since it came out it feels
Or yes get carried. That's a nice shortcut if you find someone honest enough 😉
@north oyster we just hit 200 mil mined in the last 33 days
Top notch dude, congrats to you and your team. Well earned
hehe, would love that. But im fine working for it also
Same 😉 I'm now slowly farming VHRT for getting my prospector+mining head+modules but I take my time
so why the actual fuck am i having my MOLE at MIC L1 being shot down while landed after having full landing clearance every fucking time i land with Raw Quant
Doing MRT with the mustang, also crewing on peoples bigger ships and being gunner
i'd use arc l1 instead
@acoustic garnet
also maybe security was tryin to scan you but the message didnt go through
its happened to me recently
IT has happened 2 times now
the station just kills any landed ship there
if you spawn it there its good, you land it it is killed if it is a MOLE
wont happen with any other ship
So, is ROC mining still Bugged as Hell or?
its a bit shakey but with good luck and knowing what ur doing
you can pull 200k a hour
@acoustic garnet just impound it
pay the 5k
its worth not dying
where have you been mining. the belt?
Does anyone have tips for where I can learn more / read more about cargo/hauling guides? How to make money doing it?
I have enough saved up for a large ship
all the high tier still is hard to get ahold of
so you're saying I'll never be able to fill a ship with a 500 capacity lol?
you can with the cheaper stuff that yields way less profit
whats a normal profit per run or per hour hauling?
@thin escarp thanks for the tips by the way
hauling broke my heart so the only thing i haul now is mined materials.
that ive refined
Try CRU-L1 or ARC-L1 ... also, I am assuming you do not have a crime stat? If so and you were attacked be sure to contribute to the Issue Council and put in a ticket about the problem.
Trade is ok, but it is not in a great place. You do now have the 30K protection "heartbeat" that will preserve your ship incase of a 30K. With a C2 you can avg about 80K to 120K per trip on trading but you will need about a million to play with. Of course you can use what you have and go with that. I would check out Jack Axton's "Trade Refresher Course" video
EDIT: Currently CIG is smart and disabled all of Scrap. Do NOT buy scrap. There is no available port to sell.
EDIT: There is a mistake on the Astatine table for the MSR. The proper values should be Buy in: 79,800, Profit: 22,800, Profit Per Hour: 68,400. I had an incorrect decimal throwing off values and I apologize for the confusion.
With 3.1...
Also, remember that SCRAP is DEAD, don't mess with scrap
thanks @north oyster
i'm gonna check out his vid
is there any ship currently better for trading than a c2?
No, at this time the C2 is king of trade as to volume
690 SCU
Now when the Hull C hits the game, all bets are off
lol thatll be a new world
I've not worked out what is the cheapest ship per SCU to buy. The CAT is 4.6M while the C2 is 4.9, it is worth the extra 300K for the C2
LOL, I do want to get an Orion but I'm more of a lone wolf. I'm thinking of a pimped out Liberator with refinery, mining and salvage
someday you'll join one of my operations.
I hope to, this new job has ripped about 15hrs out of my week because of the commuting. Not loving it except the extra cash
i literally had to drive from boston to north dakota
im in colorado now. and head to michigan tmr
That's my plan: Liberator + Prospector/Vulture
safe travels, getting cold out there
Isn't the Cat supposed to be modular though? So you'll be able to extend it in the future?
ive been trying to find quant for about 2 hours, am i doing something wrong or is my rng bad lmao
@rain karma from my understanding - you won't be able to make the Cat bigger. you will just be able to change what it can do such as be a cargo hauler OR be a command center (just an example).
Hey, quick question is there a timer on how long a completed order can stay in a refinery
Ah, OK. I thought they'd be able to stick more containers in the middle (obviously up to a maximum size).
Where are you looking?
i was at the halo, then moved to lyria
Lyria is the way.
We should invent a new crypto currency and call it Quantanium, so we can mine quant irl
i spend 5 hrs trying to find quant..lmao
what is a good planet to find quant on?
Lyria has so much Quantanium it's actually insane
whats a good drop point, i dropped at sal-2
Sal-2 is one of if not the best location to start from
DAMN - biggest single trip i've done ... check that Quant !
4381 11%
7968 25%
5462 47%
4367 17%
3535 10%
couldn't take it all 😆
think it works out at 716,000 credits !
@thin escarp
what ship did you use?
My mole 😁
what are some good mining modules for mining on lyria? using a prospector
Surge/stampede/Brandt or fltr
ty
Look up videos on how to break big rocks with a surge and stampede, make sure you have a lancet
yea i got a lancet
Imm in a slump on finding rocks. 2 days of mining no luck on belt or Lyria
I gave up on the belt for a bit because I was getting loads of ghost rocks
Same
An ursa will fit in a Connie right?
@worldly ledge nice dude
Where do you go to sell refined stuff?
Any of the main towns,i sell at loreville
Hey guys I'm new to hauling, is there a preferred site for figuring out trade routes?
has anyone managed to sell scrap ?
It's busted
When looking in the belt, from CRU-L1 fly to ARC-L3. At 11.5M to 11M Km drop out of QT. Where you look in the belt is critical
Some have crazy good rocks others have trash
What's an average haul for a full load in a Prospector these days?
200k to 270k
If I'm going ROC mining, what's better, Connie Taurus or MSR?
I would suggest the Connie (has better weaponry to defend itself, larger cargo bay), but the msr is very manuverable too. I own an msr and roc.
The Constellation Taurus is the freighter variant of the large multi-crew Constellation series manufactured by Roberts Space Industries (RSI). It trades the side missile racks and the stub fighter for additional cargo space, a cargo release system for quick unloading, and a security hold reinforced with tech plating.
The Mercury Star Runner is a courier ship by Crusader Industries that is focused on quickly and discreetly delivering small payloads of goods or data. With features such as dedicated data storage computers and "smugglers' holds", the mercury made a name for itself delivering crucial information into the right hands.
"Catering to governments a...
plus its annoying to use the ramp for the taurus instead of just opening a door and driving out
elevator*
I have both the MSR and the Taurus already
imo i would use the msr
How do I avoid the glitch that makes all the minerals fly into everywhere while I'm sucking them
Yeah. Msr has higher future earning potential due to specialty.
Hold mining arm still, only extract a handful at a time

Are there any viable trade routes for small ships at the moment? Looking at the 6-12 scu range.
How did you do that? and in what ship?
I dont understand all the modules
You simply won't make enough money to justify doing it with how cargo currently is. You're better off running delivery box missions, provided your ship has an accessible interior.
Do folks chain the box missions? Seems… complicated
Anyone looking for a MOLE crew?
I just bought my Mole, what would people say is the ideal loadout for mining quant? I've heard running 3 lancets is good, but I've also heard having one of the lasers be a helix with fltr-xls is good.
@marble skiff the msr imo
@keen spruce i can send you my mining guide
has loadouts for moles prospectors etc. tips tricks where toos how toos bug fixes
Out of interest, does a mole provide any advantage over a Prospector other than storage and being able to mine bigger rocks due to 3 lasers?
I'm more thinking about Quant stability duration as it makes the extra storage redundant unless you're really lucky. I think 3/4 people in Prospectors is more efficient than 3/4 people in one mole.
@rain karma mole is def superior
can i get a guide too @thin escarp
yep
was considering buying a mole
@thin escarp how?
i usually do 2 lasers.
and a scout
and i'm pulling 700k every 30 minutes
1.4 mil every hour
its more than a prospector. which your solo. if you dont find shit. your popped.
faster breaking. more stability breaking.
my greenzone is huge. literally 0 chance of death unless a laser goes rogue
So you use how many people? 3 or 4?
including myself 4.
but im lazy i could easily hop in a laser
but i wanna make others money. i'm already rich
how does solo mole compare to prosp?
this is just 33 days.
So I can do 200k to 250k per Prospector per 45 mins.
With 4 prospectors, that's 1m per 45 mins.
good luck reproducing that with 4 prospectors at in that timeframe.
We do.
ive been running massive scale operations. its just not effienct.
ok then you guys are perfect amazing miners. with the best RNG 😄 what do you want me to say
you asked me a question i'm giving my answer.
i'll outmine all 4 of you guys every time
We've been doing it fairly successfully for the past 3 weeks or so. Sometimes it's a pain.
I'm not arguing with you, just trying to understand how it's more efficient given then countdown on Quant.
if you scoop more than 10 scu the timer goes up
so on the second rock.
you get time back
so i fill up every time
We generally run 4 people, one is usually doing a delivery run, and the other 3 are scouting or mining. If we need help, we call in someone else.
Damn, didn't know that.
Lmao. Greed gets ya
How is this recorded?
Sweet
Again, just to apologise how I may have come across here. Didn't mean for it to be argumentative.
all good man
i had a long night i probably came off a lil aggressive myself
you should totally come check out how i run an op
you'll be able to perfect that 4 man team of yours into a massive money maker
I'd just woken up too, so was probably me being accidentally short. 😂
For sure! What time zone are you in?
depends on the day
Lol. Well, I'm UK time and generally get on between 1800 and 2300 (GMT) with about an hour for dinner.
What's your in-game name? We'll arrange something when you're free.
DM me if you'd prefer.
Crossfires is my ign
hauling probably gonna get an uber buff next patch
what with Hull A and cargo refactor on the horizon
also I kinda don’t understand how the persistent hangar addition is supposed to work. is it just giving us a hangar to store cargo or can we permanently store our physical ships there like we used to be able to in the Hangar modules?
Can you explain that to me ? it reset the timer ?
@terse creek so say you cracked a rock. scooped it. timers going. your cracking a 2nd rock you flew too. "hopefully not to far" break it and scoop it all in one go. adding more quantanium adds stability. we've noticed you need to scoop at least 10 scu though for it to go up. the more you scoop the more time you get back. though it will not go back to 15 minutes. you can get some valuable time back.
that an awesome trick, thanks
Morning. Is it better on lyria or belt with the Mole ?
@weary quarry lyria
Cheers 🍻
It's there some rhyme or reason to how rocks break? Had some 30% rocks crack into zero 100%quant pieces and 20% have two full
Lyria get nerfed?
Not at all
Rng gonna rng
marvellous
Having upgraded lights would be great for cave mining
I'd definitely give that guide a read if you send it to me. I'm well-versed in mining in my prospector now, but am very unfamiliar with the mole.
New to mining and I just purchased a prospector
What's a good transport ship that can hold at least a single refined prospector haul?
cutty black
rent one for 27k ish at any refinery
that or a connie taurus cant rent the taurus tho
Thinking about melting a redeemer and grabbing a connie or maybe even a2
A2 is the bomber, it can only hold a bit more than the connie taurus
you want a M2 or C2
C2 holds 672
M2 holds 468
A2 holds 234
Taurus holds 174
cutlass black 42
@teal crater If you are subscriber, rumor has it that the C2 series is next months ship.
Yeah the Hercules is February
Hope they fix cargo by then to give us a chance to try that loop out
Poggerssss
Cargo is fixed rn but like
