Is there a way to stockpile mining consumables or do I have to go back to one of the places that sells them each time to refresh? Kind of unclear on how that system works in general.
You can get a few of them in your backpack and transport them to have them waiting for you at your main mining hub
bruh i just got absolutely annihilated by a rock
i was 500m away and my ship straight up exploded
anyone wanna mine ?
If you have a cargo ship, you can transfer them from the station to your ship inventory
I got kicked from the game for inactivity while buying medical supplies. I'm back at the orbital space station. Can I retrieve my ship with cargo or how can I save the cargo?
if you're in the same server theres a chance you could recover the ship if you fly back down again to whereever you were buying them
but that's kinda unlikely
unless your ship is docked at a station/starport and fully stored then yep i wouldnt go inactive
i need to sell refined ores but my aurora is not big nough, do i need to rent a dhip or i can borrow someone else's ship?
so im newer to the game and made enough money to buy the freelancer max in game. what would be the best trading route i should go with as ive been told by a few to stay away from laranite.
Trading has been rly bad for me
whys that
Everything is quantified. Periods inbetween collection are high and I have found most places to be out of stock.
You can try out sc trade tools and see if your route produces anything (away from laranite) in good profit regions.
Is it more profitable to mine with a ROC or rented Prospector?
ROC, prospector rented can’t mine quant
Ok, so nothing other than quant pays more than using the ROC?
I see lots of boulders while searching for gems
I’d do some research. I’m not super qualified in the subject, and someone with more mining skill can speak, but in my experience my money was in quant.
anybody know where to get a surge module? i looked at the wiki and none of the spots have it
Anyone have a Prospector mining cheat sheet? EG, at what percent to grab various ore (I'm just starting, so avoiding quant for a while)
Just mess around. Once you start with Q, you want mass under 5500 and at least 20% Q
Hur L2
Sorry L1
L2 is optimum
so ive found that the two places on ariel bezdek and lathan always has atleast 30 scu. ive been flying in between them until i get 120 scu but i was told not to do this and fill the rest of my storage with titanium after purchasing the available laranite
Gold used to be my fav 'poor man's laranite' but that was 2 years ago when I last took cargo seriously
can a mining guru check this and see if it looks accurate?: https://vngd.net/mining-guide/#Minerals
in particular the "What Is Worth Mining And Where To Find Them" section
should a helix 1 be able to handle a 5500 mass stone?
Is there any bonus to mining quant with other miners? Extra scouting eyes for scanning?
More power to break bigger rocks
I haven't had any problems so far with any rocks i found yet. Prospector with lancet mh1 and using the occasional surge
One time i found 2 big % rocks next to each other and i called a friend to QT to that spot so i could return to it
Feel free to try both of these, I keep them up-to-date with datamined info every path!
I already use your awesome tool to see prices, but what I don't know is a rule of thumb for when it is worth grabbing each type of material.
unless I missed seeing that with all the other info 🙂
It's also color coded, but that guide is indeed handy in some cases 🙂
@thorn marsh all you need is https://finder.cornerstonebase.space/
But if you look at the clothes vending screens in refinery shops hold your mose at the top on the categories and scroll your mose wheel, you will reveal the mining category and all the modules are there
Heya folks, i've got a question, is there a way to see what ships have "cargo holds that can't be scanned" ?
i heard the connie taurus has one
and possibly the origin 315p ?
I'm going to miss the mole when it's gone! And i had no idea the refinies sold modules! Minus the three sitting out
The only one I know of is the MSR which has a kinda hidden compartment for smuggling, though I have no idea when it comes to the scanning mechanics
@hoary monolith roc over rented prospector
that stock laser on it blows
i can send you a mining guide if you want
@thin escarp is it worth grabbing a roc? I've got a cutty black and am saving for a prosp
@analog field its pretty cheap 172k
if you can get the RNG and such
fly low as shit to the ground on aberdeen
I have one more day of the mole so good try to farm up enough to get my prosp but I'll go give one a rent i think. Thanks for the insight!
guessing there are issues selling things on the roc.. been to several bases/station admin, can't sell what is stored on my roc. have to rip it out of roc cargo, put it in a pack to sell it
Was the roc in your ship?
And did you have a backpack on?
i had no backpack on and it was in my ship
i stored the ship with the roc in it
same thing i have always done with it, just been a while now since i went mining
I always drove the roc out of the ship onto the pad and sold on Aberdeen at one of the hdms places
Roc doesnt show up as a sell option when it's inside a ship
yeah id never store a ship with a roc inside, you're asking for bugs
Trading sucks. There are no trade routes that will get me more than 130k it seems.
Not counting Laranite since the supply SUCKS
sounds about right
130k for 15-20mins work aint too terrible tho in fairness
i guess it depends on perspective
what are you guy's preferred routes for trading?
Is there some kind of sherpa mining program that new players can partake in?
mornin all. Do they not sell Lancet 1 at HUR 2?
They do. When your in the shop terminal in the refinary, scroll down while your mouse is hovering above the tabs at the top
Are you in the refinary deck?
And you dont see two terminals between the clothes?
scroll...
yeah haha they like to hide it
no issue, ive been there before
any thoughts on Focus or XTR modules?
what ship are you running and are you doing Q mining?
if youre in a prospector and doing Q mining im real lazy so 3 vaux modules, if youre pretty competent riegers will do ya well
yea prossy and q mining. I'll def try that
no harm in trying stuff but in all honesty the XTR modules kinda blow and Focus is alright but not really for quant mining since youll only really be trying to hit 1-2 good rocks
I am a bit biased since I run mining in a mole with all its cargo capacity but if youre frugal with what you pick up in a Q vein youll be sweet
hey does anyone know if i can equip diferent mining heads on a rental prospector?
not officially but there was a workaround but im not sure if it still works this patch
haven't tested it
When did NPC pirates on the surface get added? Right as I found my first gem load I had 5 show up...
bountys in atmosphere got added there in the last patch i believe
but theres always a small chance npc's will spawn in and attack you
randomly
ok, first I've had it happen
got dropped out of quantum on my way to the moon, then more pirates once I was locating gem loads... lots of NPC pirates today
Now with the atmosphere stuff, they're showing up quite often. Reminds me of how things were a couple years ago.
Hi Guys, does anyone know if the Quantium Rocks are all Bugged, Every one I find, will not scan or as a very low value
Going to do some mining for the first time in ages. What do I need to buy to upgrade my Prospector and what should I only look for on Daymar.
Has anyone done the math on what the refinery surcharges actually equate too in extra cost? refinery im at is 148516% lol
blank rocks are common in space asteroid belts, its alot more reliable on moons/planets.
Assuming you're aiming for mining Quantanium? The size 1 Lancet mining head and consumables such as Surge, Stampede, Optimum or Torrent III.
Quant is worth double after being refined, so the charges/extra time are worth it on the whole.
@crimson oak yes bud,
@crimson oak I mosty mined belts not around plants or moons so not sure where to aim for
I think the surge is 1400 each the same with Stampede
what is that?
is that good?
do you have a good video on how to do this?
I was adviced by a friend on how to do it, but there is alot of Vids on youtube on how you can do it
I mostly used the Youtube for the Same reason my self on how to do stuff..
I have a 6k 50% quant rock, anyone want 50/50?
Not sure if this is what you’re asking? #industrial-professions message
as far as I've seen, that's more of a relative cost since I have yet to find one without it lately. So really you're just comparing that markup to the markup at other locations.
That's a hell of a quant load
Can you elaborate on this? I used to do it all the time when I mined a lot more often. Why can't you do it reliably?
Well you could do it but it's very unstable
unstable rocks, and rentals not having adjustable mining heads
With an rented one it's quite hard to do
The lancet mining head is best for qaunt and then have a surge module with you to speed it up
Ah interesting, good to know
You CAN mine quant with a rented prosp... but you won't be getting the best rocks. Regardless, you can get the smaller ones to get your feet wet without an issue.
yeah the only quant rock you'd be able to break reliably would be in the 3k mass range or maybe 4k with very low instability if you work with it on a rented prospector.
quick question im just getting into quantanium mining and im wondering which lance to get?
thanks
the ninetails event starts again later today if you're looking for some easy money as well by the way
what happens in that and how do i make moeny?
people usually talk about that event and jumptown in the #4-8-0-live room fyi
the main income is transporting medical supplies to either CRU-L5 or CRU-L4
you buy them for 17 credits each and sell for 19 on average but the main income is you get a mission bonus depending on how much you transport. For example a full C2 filled with medical supplies can earn you as much as 800k mission bonus.
!fullnt
whats a c2?
it's a type of transport ship, it has the highest cargo room in the game
if you dont have anything you could rent a freelancer or an andromeda for the event
i have a cuttlass black
yeah that has ok cargo space
might be worth renting an andromeda though if you're around for the event, wont start for another 13hrs or so
ok
the andromeda is expensive to rent though if you're broke
how much is it?
The cutlass black has 46 scu of cargo space for example and the andromeda has 96 scu of space.
i think its 70k for a 24hr rental
not too bad
i have just under 1mil atm but i still need to buy some stuff for my miner
jumptown is starting any time now as well which is a great income though possibly dangerous if people are confrontational on the server you're on
in total we got about just shy of 30mil all together
they were randoms so i will probally not play with them again
Do we know when the sub mole expires?
@sharp pulsar the rental prospector laser isnt breaking quant
its trash
@analog field i think jan 7th
Oh fuck yes! Thought it was done tonight
should i get the surge module for my miner
Surge is a great time saver
guys, just a quick question, is the ROC extraction laser still broken?
it aint broken but it can be buggy
theres a workaround where you go to the back of the roc and access the cargo of the roc, then change something in there, do some kind of editing to the cargo like take one piece out and back in again
its supposed to fix the extracting issue
Oh, thanks, I will try it tomorrow
Suggestions on cargo ship to move refined ore to town.
I had a Connie Taurus, liked it, but CCU'D to the Odyssey. And the loaner carrack is a PITA to land in a vertical hangar.
Just looking to see if there are any recommendations before I buy another Taurus. Need something that can hold it's own if I'm ever attacked.
Taurus is always good. Its cheaper than the other Connies
if you want something smaller, freelancer max can hold 120 scus
but freelancer is less of a fighter.. more of a lover.
I felt like the Taurus was the right spot. I run a mile, and the full Taurus is a million and a half. Anything more than 170scu takes to long to fill imo.
I'll just do what I had. It worked.
yep. Taurus is fantastic
I love the C2, quite agile for its size, max cargo capacity in the game right now and only about 5m to buy ingame if i remember right
Yeah still a pita to dock land side due to vertical hangars tho right?
shrugs i dunno i never have issues
any good routs for cargo?
still doing the run between HDMS Bezdek and Area 18. Buying some titanium and laranite
I believe you need a CS to get that mission
Hi there, Nope
You do yes, but you can still sell there without the mission or CS 🙂
why not go to Lorville? much closer. Surely the sell price isn't that big of a difference?
Just a little difference I don’t really mind with the M2 it doesn’t take long and gives some time to renew the stocks
while you're in arccorp you might wanna check out Wala, outposts 45 + 56 for laranite
Lyria outpost 2 also sells agricium
one of those also sells astatine+titanium if ya need to fill up the rest as well
thats one trade run i usually do as a change of pace, those 3 outposts and then A18
What Mining modules other than Surge, Can yall recommend? I use Lancet Mining head.
I rarely use lifeline (I always waste it)
Stampede seems to not actually work, No change is seen when I used it.
You use stampede by tapping the laser on and off when it's in the green, it will pump the speed, but I prefer to avoid it
Optimum is great for being near the end of a touchy rock
Surge, then optimum near the end is all I do, with FILTR XL
I use 3 fltr xl but I'm crazy
Stampede only works in the Green and Red. It's fantastic on tough rocks you can't seem to get any progress on, in combination with Surge. So you use surge to get into the green, then stampede to break through the rock before the progress naturally decays.
wow so the quant rocks being unscannable/un-minable was confirmed in 3.14 and still not hox fix
Got a 8k, 46% quant rock if anyone wants to split
Guys anyone having any module issues with the prospector? I keep buying and equiping passive modules, and if i relog I lose them
Only if you claim it to a new place in my anecdotal exp
Ahhh right i must have done that
How do you know when you need to purchase new modules?
What heads would i want a prospector ? or does it depend on what i am mining?
depends what you're mining, size 1 lancet for quantanium, size 1 helix for everything else.
Awesome tyvm for the reply
i just spawned my ship in and i found a really good rock only to find out that my lance is not on my ship when i definitely had it equipped last night before i got off
do they unequip after you ship gets blown up?
the mining head? nope, consumables? yep
it just dissapired off my ship
i tried to mine a rock and nothing happend
i dont think it will even let me put one on
i cant select a option to change it its just grayed out
perhaps it’s a matter of repairing the ship, not entirely sure but a bug might of occurred after it got blown up.
i will try to repair it now
yeah so we can go back for another load if there is still more
i repaired my ship and i sill can use it
i think it just disappeared
sucks - let me know if you find it ill come help
mining heads are under Utility
not vehicle weapons
in that screenshot there click the tab to the right
If I have a Liberator and a Cat.. is there a need for a C2?
can i just pick up quantanium when mining or do i pick up the other suff aswell with it
ideally you'd focus on quant
no when extracting dose it pick up the other stuff in the rock?
The nine tails event starts around now, good time to pickup some medical supplies for the mission, comes with a nice bonus.
yep it extracts whatever is in the piece of rock
ok
including other types of ore and inert materials
thanks
so in other words choose wisely whatever piece you decide to extract
i thought there was no event today
I didn't know there was one but it just popped
i hate this game
i was on my way to the refinery when a rock just appeared in front of me
i see the beacon but not the mission
and becuase of the shitty shields on the prospector i died
were you on cruise control ?
i die more to spontaneous asteroids and stairways than anything else in this game.
Does helix II allow you to crack bigger rocks than a MH1?
Not really
Helix is maybe a few % stronger in my exp
But it brings instability with it’
Best combo is lancet, surge, stampede
I am trying to work out how I can maximise the size of rocks I canc rack
Surge
I keep having to get people to help with my lancet mh1
I carry 2x surge
For Quant, the Lancet reduces resistance, so it’s best; for non-Quant the Helix works better/more power
Ill find a soft spot in the rock to where it starts to heat, then illl hit surge. If that Doesn’t get it high enough, then I’ll pull the power back and let the charge drop a little bit, then hit the second surge on top of the first. That will usually get me into the green if I time it right, then I hit my stampede to hold it there and charge quickly.
Lancet will break a bigger Quant than Helix will.. doesn’t seem right, buts it true
So for quant get a mh1 and some surges?
That’s what i use
Quant: Lancet / Brandt / Stampede / Surge
Brandt gives you more precise power control. I run 2x surge so i can stack them for big rocks
Surge it to green, then Stampede it so you get thru green before power wears off, then when cracked use Brandt to stablize and not blow the little pieces
I'll give that a go, thanks 🙂
Be careful stacking surges. You hit the second one too soon and the rock is gonna blow
I always blow up if I double Surge
Takes a little practice
^^ that
Depends on what you want to do more: cargo, ground vehicles, ship ferry
Pickup a box delivery, use the box as a marker
I really wish there was a use for the other lesser ore, gimme missions to grab the junk ore
I delivered my first mining to the refinery, quite bad materials. wonder what they will sell for. got to wait 21 hrs to know.
@jade dragon https://uexcorp.space/refining you can check
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
If you have a list of what you dropped off and the original quantities I can tell you what you'll end up with.
Am i doing something wrong with mining?
I mined like 5 loads of quant, refined them using the dinx solvenation and waited a day, logged on next day and rented a cutty to transport it, loaded the refined quant into the cutty, flew to area 18 to sell it and my cutty is empty upon arriving
this has happened twice in a row so ive lost all my quant i mined
are you sure that's all that happened?
sounds very unusual
are you refining properly? perhaps you didn't check the box next to the quantanium and you're refining the other random ores and not the quant?
or you're taking too long to take the quant back to the station and it went inert by the time it reached the refinery?
I thought unrefined quant blew up if you took too long.
from the moment you start extracting the slightest bit of quant, a 15min timer will start and by the end it will go critical
yeah it can blow up and it can go inert sometimes if for example, you dock your mining ship and take too long to put it in the refinery
or if you break up a rock and then move too far away from it to check out another rock, then go back to the original and extract it thinking its still fine
but moving too far away from a broken rock will turn it inert
Hm, I didn't know it could go inert. Back when I mined it just blew up (happened to me on the elevator down to the station one time).
yeah if you leave it on the pad
I just never made it down to store it. It was my first quant run, and it blew up about 30 seconds before I could store it.
ouchy
turns out it put the quant in the wrong cutlass
had an expired rental and it went in there
oh dear
How is prospector mining in 3.16? Haven't tried it since the patch? Did they manage to fix and of the scanning and/or UI issues?
They fixed the distortion UI
Whats the best place to mine and what, with a Mole ?
Solo mining is a bit bothersome with a mole
You can do some great mining operations where you sweep through and mine anything precious in a belt with one of your heads running filtration mods
or you can do the classic group quant mining
How do I turn on a mining module?
Gotcha thanks 😄
Is anyone successful with cargo hauling and can explain what I'm doing wrong?
Whatcha mean cutlass
You know thinking on it, I'd love to see alloys of trash minerals be added to the refinery to make stuff like aluminum and corund not totally trash
I mean that I can't seem to be able to make profits
I feel like I'm not making any money
well in mining if makeing more then what your repair and refuel your making money.
Was talking about cargo
use websites to find out who buys for a good price
all about the margins
Laranite is always profitable but a bit more expensive
Has anyone seen any of the other top 4 ore in more than 15% concentration? Cause I've not
Trying to make money, what can I mine that would get me a decent profit in a rented prospector?
Man the event is rough this time around. I've been lucky enough that I've been able to buy and sell without any wait every time, but so many other things have gone weird. It took me almost 10 minutes just to land at the station because it wouldn't answer comms.
is the event 2hrs exact?
We'll find out in 7 minutes.
I only got two runs in this time, and that was already being preloaded.
Indeed, it's rarer to find good rocks of those but they do happen
50k a load is better than zero
What else do I need to upgrade on the prospector to make it do its job? 100% is not affecting this asteroid in front of me at all. I put on the helix 1 laser
some rocks take more than one prospector. i hear that limit for one prospector is 5500 mass
Oh....that sucks then
When I break the rock up and I want to extract. What should the percentage be of the materials I want. I mostly find like say 27% of what I want and the rest is waste. Is this correct or should I only take when its about 50%
@main grove depends on what ore. quant you want as much as possible cause it goes boom, others i try to shoot for 5-10% of the higher value ones
Thanks. I've been finding rocks with above 20% of Bexalite and Agricium.
how feasible is quant mining without modules?
Is trade not worth it for now?
I tried a bit yesterday and made some OK profit, it was a nice change of pace film endless bh missons to make cash
Cargo is less valuable then grinding bounties but its easy cash for simply moving a to b
yeah i am fed up of endless jousting with the terrible ai, so a godo audio book and i can kill a couple of hours poking about the verse
Yeah there's a relaxing aspect to it indeed. I like hanging out on the planets too
if I rent a prospector can I make the money back quickly
probably not
you can make it back in one run
Just go after the top 5 value ore in more than 5% value, not worth as much as quant but still will pay for it in a run ( or three as you learn)
so I should start basic if I havent done any mining before
Indeed
@grand furnace are the prices
Most of them aren't updated most of the times
will rent a prospector today
Just wanna confirm, is there a way of cherry picking what type of refined ore you want on your cargo? Or does it just dump everything into your ship
You can select which ores you want to refine when you're setting up a work order, those that you don't select are dumped and won't be refined, but when you're collecting you can either collect it all or you can't
You can also put on a FILTRXL module to cut out some inert material
I see, thanks for the help!
I just realised I used a question mark instead of an exclamation.... :/
Is there any way to trade at the weird outposty places right now? I don't see a landing pad and it doesn't see my ship
Can you fit more cargo into a ship from refinery?
I have a taurus, its "full" but it has only got one layer of boxes on the ramp and it is at 173 units, its rated for over 200
The cargo not appearing is an unimportant bug, you go off of what the terminal says how much cargo is in your ship
Its just annoying because I have more to carry and I know it would fit
Ahhh okay, thats me remembering wrong, but still, annoying xD
Isn't there still another Nine Tails event today? What's the ETA on it if so?
6-7hrs from now
Should take about that long to pre-fill my Taurus...
may as well just wait for the event, outposts seem to have less restrictions when it comes to filling up when its active
Yeah I know, but I also like having it just ready to go for an instant delivery.
Is it worth filling a cutlass black with med supplies for the event?
You might make more money faster doing the combat part in a Cutty.
If I’m flying my c2 and I spawn my cat for a buddy to fly would they be able to call for a landing port?
OK, I'll break out the Gladius then
With Call to Arms
Is it just me or are the rewards in Ninetails kinda oof for combat
Clapped a ton of ships with CtA active, made something like 60k

I thought I heard someone say that HH kills paid out like 45k each or something
Oh, that's stupid if you have to get last hit to get any payout.
I did the combat in my distortion loadout Bucc, so I wasn't really killing things, I was just locking down the HHs for others to kill.
I had assumed it would be calculated based on % damage dealt
Like a lot of games do for chunky enemies
So it's been a hot minute since I last did trade, does the 9t event remove the sell limit for medical supplies?
not sure about sell limit, but just buying enough meds to fill a ship is hard to do with the way servers share commodities now. 90 mins i couldnt fill a connie
When the 9T event starts (or more precisely, when the Medical supplies mission is on), the producers of medical supplies gets a much larger stock than usual (this may be due to the increased production rate), and the units pr minute is increased a lot. The minute the mission is retracted, the bonus supply rate is gone (but the production facilities may still have some stock left)
Anyone have the link for the nine tails event times? I found it once but cant seem to find it again. Also be cool if we could pin it.
Oooh my google foo paid off the time:

Can a stock mole not operate with upgraded heads?
I put 2 lancet mh2s on it and the power is maxed out and I can’t lift off
Hit the k key
is a chonkey vtol boy
use the vtol mode to get you up to speed even out of atmosphere then switch it over.
I can’t take off at all
(thrusters pointing down)
I can turn the ship on etc
engines on?
Yeah
Not out of fuel I hope? (just going over my check list) also turn on coupled mode alt c
store it and reclaim again, sometimes that clears up some issues
he might be on planet
oh ouch then
nice
I was going to go for that right shift key next. I have left that on and made a crater after taking off because I forgot to turn it off. They should show a toggle on screen for it.
agreed lol
Is there a cap on how much laranite can be bought
Been waiting for a refresh and the max laranite available is still only about 53 SCU
The amount of larinite is fucked rn
It's like they needed the spawn rate when 3.16 launched
Whatever is in stock.

has some features other doesnt
It does look nice I will give that a try as well, ty.
I feel bad for people who want to actually trade right now. I was trying it with my Raft and I had a hard time even filling that up, and it's a small cargo ship.
i couldnt fill up my cutty black with anything worth hauling without staying at the facility for awhile
Yeah. Yesterday I was prefilling my Taurus for the event, and it took like 3 hours.
ya after 90 mins i only had 65 units of meds
I want to get into trading, but it's like 🤷 right now.
I might have to try something other than meds
wonder if people are stocking up for the event, I am not sure, new at this too.
Pre-event I was doing laranite, or at least trying to. You usually had to fill up with something less desirable because good luck filling on laranite. I think I managed that once.
Ya and when looking at the other stuff in stock, does not seem to pay much at all.
I wonder if the big cargo ships are just killing the general economy and they have not refactored for them.
Big ships, and all servers share stock now (or so I've heard). So that means you're fighting with people you can't see for stock at any location you go to.
Right, and people with huge cargo holds compared to a few patches ago as far as I understand.
it's a bad idea really, it punishes the playerbase for the game being more popular
wanna trade? fuck you, grind bounties
Well, on the flip side it used to be "You want to make any real money? Buy a big cargo ship because nothing else pays enough to be worthwhile."
not sure on that, the return you get from a freelancer misc up makes it worthwhile It hink
with laranite anyway
Yup untill they add higher value cargo that has proportionally more risk, they have to bottleneck the economy.
would make it even more worthwhile if the orphanage or scrap places would pick up ships
no point in doing that until the cargo refactor is in
no point in piracy if you can't transfer cargo
Yaya, I might just do something else until the nine tails thing starts.
I've been trying to do damn boarding actions but the lag is unreal
If I store my freelancer with med supplies, will it stay in there if I log off?
That one did look fun.
is the medical supplies availability during Nine Tails based off region-wide availability or single server availability?
could I have my guys camp the outposts to ensure there is more available?
Yes.
I believe they're still shared between servers like everything else is. And once they sell out, you have to wait for the restock tick before you can buy. Same goes for selling when the destination is full. It's super annoying.
Running cargo during the event is basically "Hurry up and wait".
The only real difference between the event and non-event is during the event, restock ticks fill the supplies to max and not a normal, small, restock tick.
The server-wide stock is the most ridiculous thing ever bruh
It sucks, nobody likes it.
How are traders supposed to make money if the stock is always empty
I really hope they fix it soon
Wait until cargo is fully in, it's not going to be a thing to make fast money with. The wait times alone for loading and unloading is going to be nuts.
can you prevent cargo bugging into the ground ?
for crates? try using "place" instead of "drop" command. also they can tend to bug or despawn if you leave them alone by themselves
An hour at a trading post trying to get some laranite, and only managed to grab one restock. And that was refreshing a few times a minute.
I'm in my Raft, I'll have to check next time I land but it was basically nothing.
The max amounts you can sell system is so stupid
It's so small
I bought a full cargo of stims and couldn't even sell 1%
Selling has never been a problem for me, it's trying to buy. It can take hours and hours just to fill a ship this small.
To me the issue has always been with selling
Then of course I'm stuck with a full cargo in an outpost
I sell at Arc Corp though, no wait times there.
I found a mini road where in theory I could go outposts to outposts and just buy then sell but yeah it has to refresh every 10 minutes so I can sell 1% of my cargo
Yeah city tdd has no wait times
But it's just boring
Who wants to do that
Go back and forth at the 2 same places all day?
Is that how it's supposed to be?
That's pretty much it. And you can either sit and wait at one place, constantly refreshing and hoping to get a buy in, or try your luck in going somewhere else and hope it isn't empty too (it always is).
walla outpost 56 by any chance? i waited there for 15mins and the restock only had 1 scu worth of laranite
I just went to 56 from 45. I was waiting at 45 for an hour or so.
its not really worth waiting on stuff like that, more profitable just going for titanium, diamonds, astatine etc.
Yeah the selling on small outposts is stupid
45 has a much bigger refresh rate
better off camping that than 56 if you really have to
If it does, I haven't seen it.
but honestly you're better off focusing on other items
I only got one restock buy from there and it was almost nothing.
Just find the cheapest diamond outpost and go to the nearest major city
Yep, I filled up on diamonds and the astantine or w/e it's called.
well i get like 76 scu of laranite from 45 fairly often
Diamonds worked nice for me
I usually just try to get some of the better stuff.
Diamonds in a ship the size of the Raft doesn't pay much though.
I do too, it's just full of med supplies for the mission.
yeah id focus on the nine tails mission and just do other things until they pop up
bounties, mining etc
I'm just so burned out on bounty hunting.
try mining, i find it really relaxing
I'm not really a combat focused person, but that's really the only good way to make money right now.
I do have a Prospector, I've just heard mining is really buggy this patch. That's the only reason I haven't touched it.
I did 2 rounds of meds for the event, first time made 200k and second time the event expired when I entered the station then tried to sell at a city because I didn't wanna wait : my ship exploded when I retrieved it with 300k worth of meds
Conclusion of the event : lost 100k
Better go mining
Getting that true SC experience.
When I'm tired of the sc bugs I take my c8x and go box delivering
Usually that's what I'd be doing for my relaxing gameplay, but I've had horrible luck with box missions the last couple patches.
Also I was wondering
The scanning part is what I've heard so many problems with.
You know sometimes in wrecks you can find multiple boxes on the ground, how can you sell them?
and how many scu do you ened to haul to make that worthwhile?
I was only making 30k off from laranite...
unrefined?
or cargo hauling
if you dont refine your not gonna make much mining. unless your getting alot of quantanium.
It didn't work for me, i stored the ship and nothing was showing in the cargo
cargo hauling
yeah cargo hauling has been borked for so long.
That I wasn't aware of. I never space mined anyway, I always did it on moons.
thats why i mine. and sell the refined goods.
I should probs boost my delivery reputation to get access to the 45k delivery missions
@thin escarp do you use the dynix?
Keep in mind that is a FPS mission.
@loud mural normally ferron exchange. i dont like to wait days for my mole runs
Although sometimes the ai got godlike aim
ferron exchange costs like 15k more and its never more than 1 day 18 hours
Yeah I use a prospector so it's full really fast and it's always 24h for me
Mining on Lyria right now, seems to spawn Quant in pairs
be careful though as boxes are bugged and can leave you having to abandon the delivery
someone know if stop and collect refinery while its progress will make you lost that ore haven't refinery or?
I always mine in hur l1 and Hurston moons it's not bad
That's happened to me often. I get maybe one out of every 5 missions that works.
Tractor beam is your best friend
@robust kelp yurp it does eat it
okay ty
if I was to rent a roc would it take up any of my scu space in my ship
Whats wrong with the scanning details?
its cut off and I cant see what the scan data is
bug
blows my mind how critical gameplay bugs can stay in a game for so long. feels like a big fuck you from people I gave money too
hey guys, anyone know where i can sell slam?
how do I load the roc inside my ship once I have rented it
did you not pay for bugs ?
You have to go down to the planet. I think they have some base called mining station or something and pick it up there. I am just realaying second hand info.
yeh I know where to rent it
go down to an outpost on a planet or moon, there are vehicle pads there. Then just drive it into your ship. Most major cities have vehicle pads as well but they're a bit trickier to find.
the place in those outposts are normally blue where the terminal is located
It's an alpha. You knew there were bugs when you chose to invest.....
Microtech and Lorville also have vehicle garages
But don't do Lorville unless you feel like running 2km
is that what the perimeter line is for in lorville?
The scanning bug is ass but common
I don't mind cause you're never gonna get donked in the belt
i very rarely run into people. but i dont jump to specific areas on surface
i just fly down from a OM point
Well this is fun. Event started, nobody got any missions. Fly to the event anyway, can get the combat mission, but no cargo one.
how much money is the combat one?
The cargo one is under delivery. I can see it right now. If you can't that's just you.
The combat one only appears at the blockage
Not my first time doing the event lol. It's like this for my whole server.
Yeah it's also not your first time saying you have a bug when you just don't understand how something works. Little bit of boy who cried wolf.
Ouch. You're going hard on finding a place nobody is camping.
I'm going to my "special place" and I've been able to instantly buy every time (so far).
where can i buy the medical supplies?
yeah i learned that the hard way a few weeks back
just ignore orison in that list
ive been sticking to microtec, seems to be somewhat less people going there
though twice as long to get there
Yeah, I go to one of the moons around MT. It's a longer drive, but with how slow the sell refresh is, it doesn't really matter.
And I don't have to wait in line for buying, or miss out on buying restocks.
Well, just made a full purchase and then the event ended on my server. So at least I'm fully stocked for next time.
Jesus they certainly don’t make it easy to deliver medical supplies huh?!
Anyone on that can help me break a 6.8k mass rock
There’s also another rock here 3.5 25%
same
So, who is looking forward to cargo missions that we'll hopefully get with the cargo refactor
ask in the server chat, theres usually one or two dont mind helping
I for one cannot wait to depart the field of trade and simply become a space trucker/space cargo shipper
if not then be sure to bring along surge and stampede consumables for next time!
Im gonna assume it will be tedious and not very profitable until you do like 500 of them like delivery missions
Me. I don't really much care for the whole buy/sell cargo running, gimme some missions.
Hell yeah. I'm not about being a physical stock market man, I just wanna haul. Hull C and RAFT ready and waiting.
Yep. That's pretty much all I did in Elite because it was chill and relaxing, and I got to fly in space.
For sure. I'm interested to find out how we'll load up the Hull C, given how big it is and how it'll have to be docked.
But I do look forward to just hauling across space, either as a two crew in my RAFT or four in the Hull C.
That's where Rafts come into play. They're designed (or apparently designed) specifically to load and unload Hulls, and probably fly long distances with them (hence the huge quantum tank on the Raft). That's why I got one.
I don't think the RAFT is for loading and unloading hulls. Not to say it can't do it, but I wouldn't say it's designed for it. Relatively small hydrogen tanks yet massive QF tanks and a huge habitation bay. The designers described it as a "long haul starter cargo ship"
I think you'd offload the Hull with say, an Argo Cargo or an SRV, then a RAFT might pick up the stuff later at the cargo deck
Thing is, the Raft carries the giant cargo containers that the Hulls carry. It's a crane for loading and unloading them, and taking the big containers to stations or landing places where there is no infrastructure.
That's the general consensus that's going on about the Raft anyway.
Oh I know that, I just mean that I don't think a RAFT is intended to directly lift the cargo off the Hull
It's definitely meant to take the cargo that arrived on a Hull to remote locations long distance. That's why I hope we get cargo missions. I wanna haul small amounts of cargo long distance to remote places as well as large amounts of cargo to stations.
Personally I think Rafts are basically "escorts' for the bigger Hulls. That's why they have huge quantum reserves and living quarters. They follow Hulls around, load or offload them, and then instead of the Hull going around in a system to deliver goods, the Raft goes to the various moons and stations instead.
I'd love to run cargo to a remote outpost in Pyro with the Raft
Yeeeeah
The huge QF tanks are perfect for that
Those are my hopes for the Raft anyway, but time will tell.
I'm more interested in getting a Cat over a Hull, simply because the Cat is going to be far more versatile.
I had a cat and upgraded it to the Hull
I thought about it but I'd prefer to just be a haulier with a ton of cargo space
Especially since its dedicated to hauling, docking at stations etc
Yeah
I reeeeeeally wish you could upgrade to a Pirate Cat.
I'll have to wait for the normal one to come around and then do it. And hope the ship is fixed by then.
I should hope so. Having doors stuck open is pretty annoying alright!
Is the inert material filter ever even worth using? 15% seems very mediocre
get the upgraded one for 30% i think it is
or better yet, be more selective with what rocks you extract and use a different module, like the one with a bonus to laser power or resistance
Oh I haven't seen a 30% one and i am. I don't bother with junk Rocks. Just was curious if it was ever worth
It it was 50%+ i could see it being decent for lazy mining though
I've been trading astantine and titanium in my C2 and Im wondering if there are any higher potency trade options. Im open to suggestions
where are u trading those options if u dont mind me asking
Ive been trading around hurston. Ariel for Titanium and Ita for Astantine
I don’t think so, I’m pretty sure it’s just navigation as of rn
I could be wrong tho
@frozen harness nope
The only better options are Laranite and Agricium which is very high in demand and hard to get any decent amount of as a result, so what you're doing right now with titanium and astatine is the best there is.
diamonds are decent too if you cant quite get enough of the others
why is laranite stock always bottomed out?
am I competing vs other players in other servers to buy it?
because its the most profitable commodity
yes you're competing against everyone in every server and region
oh yikes ok
what's a consistent commodity to move then if I don't wanna wait around for laranite?
Astatine, Titanium and Diamonds
thank you 👍
Agricium where possible but thats usually as pressured as Laranite
be sure not to mistake Tungsten for Titanium
should I mix cargo? or only stack one thing?
no harm mixing
but yeah like if you can get a cargo full of laranite or agricium then definitely prioritise that
hi, I am in a prospector now. I saw in a video a "super ping" how to do that?
Super ping?
not sure. most of videos I have seen people are not even refining anything but Q
seems to go further (but also more dangerous as people can see you)
they were charging the ping
Is it an older video?
might be
No more charge ping, only the pulse
so just a tap on the tab button then
this is what I saw
https://youtu.be/6e5lKV_s6cc?t=841
Yup just the tap
k, thx
What would you guys suggest for a prospector mining head, and why?
Lancet for Quant, Helix for everything else
Lancet gives a buff to resistance and quant is high in resistance. Helix is a more powerful laser but since quant is so high in resistance you're better off with lancet with that bonus.
does the spawn of the rocks depend on the ship im using? since im in the mole the only rocks i find are over 7000 😄
nope, not that i know of, you're probably just more aware of them.
been out for for almost 1h and can't craack a single rock lol
all i can find are unscannable ones lol, i can see my ship getting melted at this rate
try planet/moon locations, ya only really find those ghost rocks in space asteroid belts for some reason, it's fine on land.
ah i see, only started yesterday so still need to find some spots to go
When I sacn an EM signature from a ping it no longer tells me the value of said EM signature/size of asteroid cluster. Is this a bug?
yeah its been like that the last 2 patches unfortunately
looking forward to when they fix that
used to be a big time saver
bummer
anyone free now to help me with a 8000 mass rock, you get as payment a 3400 rock with 25% qt
how much space does the roc take up in your ship
i am mining with a prospector and i found a 8000 mass rock with qt
i need a 2d laser to help me crack it
Had a haul of Q. got some damage. still able to fly and even quantum-drive fly home. after flying for 2m 60km before space station all engines died. anyway I could have prevented or fixed this or was I on a deadly timer anyway? (I did not explode, Q time was good)
Can you find larger % of Bexalite than 4 or 5% in rocks, as I can't seem to find anything.
And should I be hunting Bexalite? Which is the best to go for on Delmar. I don't want to go for Quantuanium as I don't want the hassle of blowing up.
you get 14minutes so just wait with picking it up until everything is ready for being scoped up
then haul-ass home=)
What would you cargo guys say has been your favourite ship for ease of use/QoL rather than raw profit
C2
I had an issue where components in the Prospector got damaged and I kept loosing power on the way back to the station. Not sure if it is a new damage model or something
Thanks, any particular reason?
C2 is the largest shipper in the game atm but she is also nimble, fast and does a great job
I had an Ion that was camping an outpost, I was able to bug out from there an avoid their fire as I made it to space. Great ship, handles like a dream for such a large ship.
Given how low the profit is using anything other than the c2 is pointless. The Taurus was easier to use but made more doing bounties with the taurus than with trading
I'm a BH mainly but a friend is getting into the game and they like cargo stuff
Trade is going to have some huge changes this year
Yeah it will be way better off then eh
If they are just getting into the game I think the freelancer max is great. The taurus is a hit or miss the way it looks, but the freelancer max gives me the feeling beeing a trucker
physicalized cargo is going to be interesting. Not sure how it will play out but I'm sure that Tier Zero of that stage will be a little rough.
Gotta love the Freelancer that was my first thought
I love my MAX, she is also great for ROC transport
I had to buy the black livery for her though, I'm not a fan of the orange paint
Yes considering that my taurus killed me a coupke of times I prefer the max for starting out
I might pick up at c2 in game for a test and still suggest the MAX, my only cargo ship is the MSR
MSR is an excellent ship also
Isn't the Hull A supposed to come out next patch?
not thinking it'll be around until mid to late year
maybe by Invictus Week
If interested in Trade, I would suggest looking up Jack Axton on YouTube, he's probably the best in the game.
Also, Scrap is still broken, don't buy scrap
do people use more shield when mining? can you move everything to the front?
The way they redid the power triangle, I can't seem to move it all to front like I use to. But I've not looked it up to be sure.
All the components are levelized and the same atm because of the rebalancing of the ships
Inbetween weapons and shields?
Re-directing the shield coverage to the front. The numpad numbers don't redistribute the shield percentage. I use to run most shields forward when mining
I think because the small shields are just bubbles, you can't redistribute them now
Ah, yeah. I used to full forward my connie shields during combat. Wondering why that stopped working.
I disagree Sir. Players can still make decent money trading with Taurus/Max. When Titanium/Diamonds/Gold/Astatine are low (I'm not counting Laranite/Agricium as they're always low) - Fluorine is better than nothing and can still make a profit. However - you're correct that bounties are better money makers once the rep is leveled up. Trading is still not great.
It is great for starter and to see if this gameplay loop is fun enough, but the Taurus is quite a monster for bounties :-)
ive gotten in the habit of doing a trading run when im transporting the quant ive mined every few days or so. Since ill be docking at a major city to sell the quant, i may as well pick up a load of titanium or whatever is available along the way.
little extra way of padding the wallet.
Whats a good ship to upgrade to for trading? Im looking at the Cutlass black And Freelancer MAX
The FL Max and Taurus are the best mid-sized trading ships right now. You can't put the Cutty Black in that category as it's a different ship altogether.
Oh okay. Yea my instincts were going more towards the Max. Im not much of a BH. Thanks for your input.
You can still do BH in either ship. Truthfully, the two best ways to make big money in SC right now are mining and BH (not counting events). I know of players making over 1M an hour doing BH missions (high rep lvl quest). I make most of my money now mining but I'm into trading as well.
I’ll probably dive into a little more. Im new so im taking my time. Plan on playing for a while
It's a lot harder to make that kind of money doing BH these days. I'd bet there are very few people (not counting entire groups) making 1M per hour bounty hunting these days. In 3.13 it was fairly easy to do, but from 3.14 to 3.16 it's become much harder. I would bet that a very efficient group could come closer to making 1M per hour for each player doing many quick kills.
You are correct Sir! The players I know making that money are doing it as a group.
Since you're new - I would recommend doing the box delivery missions until you get to reputation level 2. That will unlock 45k and 10k delivery missions. Easy money and it will help you familiarize yourself more with the game. Also - if you have questions in-game - put into chat. We will help with any questions you have!
Many types of missions have been quite bugged in 3.15. I'm not sure how many have been fixed in 3.16, but it seems many of the new 3.15 bugs are still with us.
i have only RARELY seen rock with more than 5% of the other good ore but they exist just crazy rare
Oooh Thanks for that. I stopped doing those missions for a while because of the low pay.
They still pay pretty low for the time involved. And the boxes or dispensers often bug out, forcing you to abandon the mission.
need a tractor tool for sure
Having a tractor tool wouldn't help for the bugs I often see. Dispensers spitting out the same box over and over and never giving you all the mission boxes. Boxes becoming "inert" and losing their label, so that they can't be used to complete missions. I stopped box missions altogether due to how often I get those bugs.
boxes bug in the ground
Thinking of breaking out the Prospector today, haven't mined in quite a long time. What's the go-to head these days?
we need some tractor tool on the prospect to throw the shit rocks off the pile so we can see under. such a pain in the arse to try to get the rocks under the rocks when we break the rocks
also you should be able 1. do a planet wide scan. 2. localize resources in such scan. 3. go to scan site and use another scan to pin point deposits and then to the deposit
That's part of what exploration gameplay is to be. Then you sell that data to people who will do something with the information.
And the Odyssey.
i hope so. cause right now? i have to get 30 meters sometimes to see whats what
The small scanner that is in the prospector which is scanning all the time should pull up a HUD with a list of all objects within set distance, their mass, and the type. You should be able to select that target from the HUD and an tracker icon with distance to it will show up @worthy scroll
Maybe. I get where you're coming from, that would be something great for the solo player. They're really pushing for group play though. So I think the group version of that is to have a buddy with you scanning rocks and picking out/marking good ones while you do the actual mining.
whats the most profitable trade routes?
When do they expect mining to be implemented?
I was in the Halo this morning and saw 14% Bexalite on a 4.8k mass rock. That was the most I've ever seen. I was only hunting Quant so I didn't bother mining it but it was the most I've ever seen.
do I need to touch anything on the roc when starting out
don't think there is anything you can do to the roc.. its size 0 mining head is the only 0
Best cargo routes rn?
ok got it, remember roc cannot change any parts
Anyone know if I can put a ROC in a freelancer?
Thanks
you can put two in a Max
I have the max
Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade in to a new ship. I am currently looking at the constellation tarus vs. the freelancer max. What are your thoughts on these two? I like to do transport but I also need to defend myself and normally don't have a big crew.
FL Max less capacity better handling. Taurus more guns more capacity fly like a brick
also FL max have faster access to the ship
Access doesn't really bother me too much. That's just a forced tour of the ship. Which of the two has better weapon optimisation for a solo pilot?
Taurus: 2xS5 2xS4
Max 4xS3
@hollow sedge
can anyone give me an explanation of how running cargo works? i just started yesterday but i wanna do cargo stuff. dont know where to start
also i have an aegis avenger titan so not a lot of cargo space but some
Buy cargo from moon > take to planet lol
That's just the short version
Variables go into it such as what commodities can be bought
Diamond from HDMS-Edmond to Lorville CBD is a decent route, they're right next to each other.
where to i get cargo from on the moons
Wala: mining 45/61/54
Don't forget the waiting. 😬
Arc corp
The fuel is more of a headache if you aren't buying a big quantity too
thanks g
With a big enough ship and a undisclosed coffer, you should make a decent profit. If interdiction, just push the button. The npc aren't very smart here like they are in elite dangerous and you tend to not get punished for being pulled out of a jump as long as you don't unspool the drive. Atleast it works for me like that in the brick
@pliant matrix thanks, guess I'm getting a new toy on payday :)
enjoy 😉
Is there an up-to-date mining chart out there? I'm looking online but not finding anything more recent that a few patches ago.
Mining didn't evolved much on last few patches tbh
What was working two patches ago probably still works
look over youtube there are up to date vid usually
Purposely avoiding YouTube, I'm trying to find a chart I can just put on another monitor to quickly reference.
@thin escarp is the only mining specialist I can recommend. He will be of better help
(sorry for the tag 😉 )
Ha. I used to mine a lot, but that was before quant was a thing, so I'm pretty rusty.
If I'm not looking to go for quant, is the Helix still the main one? Prospector mining btw.
think helix still the main head but not sure on the passive attachments and the active buffs [aka the limited time buffs]
lancet for quant, helix for other ores
if I store ship wit vehicle in it when I get it back out will it still be with said vehicle
I used to just use the one to reduce inert material. Never saw the need for anything else.
Yes it should still be there. It has worked for me when I left my Roc inside my MSR. I stored my MSR for a few weeks and went to fly it and saw my Roc was still in it.
yeh had to go back to lorville and buy a hot suit, now I can go back to aberdeen and resume
Friendly reminder to strip your MOLE if you are a Subscriber as it will poof sometime in the next 24 hours and your modules may go with it
back to jobs it is then if roc mining is bugged
@worthy scroll check the pdf i sent you
it has mining loadouts
for prospectors so you can break bigger rocks.
lancet is better than helix ona prospector.
roc mining isnt that broken
just fly low and fast to find them
on aberdeen
you'll do fine
Oh i was asking what the next ship of the month is lol
@grand furnace i was talkin to this guy
I went with the old tried and true Helix. Found these. Can't bust them.
Cried a bit.
What is it that makes the Lancet so much better? Looking at Erkul it has far less power than the Helix.
well now I know its not completely broke you will get something out of doing roc on aberdeen
I've found a couple high content bexalite rocks I can't break either.
that pdf guide i sent you has all the loadouts tip tricks like everything my guy. 😛
even where to get it all
I'm watching one of the videos right now but omg I hate videos for this stuff, I just want it in text format so I can find the info I want faster.
Cross had a great guide
New head and new mods purchased.
I wasn't planning on looking for quant, I was just going to stick to the basic stuff. But I didn't expect to not even be able to break those.
@worthy scroll check the pdf its the first message i sent. its all in text form there 😄
Already did. I've already reequipped my ship and headed back.
gotcha
Lancet will work for Quant not ‘basic stuff’ as well; Helix has power for basic stuff but you need resistance for Quant
Don’t equip for quant and then try to mine not quant
I like how scanning works now, so much better than it used to be.
The Prospector seems to fly a lot better than I remember too.
I can crack all quant with the Lancet MH2 when I'm mining in asteroid fields
Without popping any modules
So, what do I need to do in order to be offered the FTL courier missions?
What is the most basic and cheap setup for dual laser mole
What it comes with would be the most basic lol
I have kinda a strange question, but i see tons of gem deposits(normally the most costly one) on the space rocks, is it worth evaing to them and hand mining them
Why am I losing passive modules?
Whenever I recall my prospector, they're all gone
I thought only active modules were consumable?
That seems like a bug, are they being dumped into the station inventory?
Eer wait doing the claim thing? If so yes that eats then
ah d*rn ok
I was hoping it was like weapons in the loadout
The mining laser itself will stay just not the mods
that's what I get for using expensive parts for my first time and blowing myself up at least twice
Def a good idea to not use the crazy good mods
So if I'm in a Mustang Alpha, what's the ship I should aim for if I want to focus on non-combat things? Nomad or Cutlass? I'm assuming I want something that can haul cargo and carry a ROC for when I'm rich enough to afford two diffeerent things
do you know of a prospector setup that can mine 7k+ mass rocks?
I don't think anything can solo
I mean a fully crewed mole but that ain't solo
@ivory forge cutty for sure
I'm enjoying mine
The stang really isn't a good starter ship
But you can rent the cutty or the nomad to try them out
I went with rule of cool when I made my account at the lowest entry level. I regret not buying an Avenger now but it is what it is. I didn't want to overspend on an alpha I wasn't sure would run on my rig anyway
@ivory forge the good news is you can just upgrade for the difference if you want.
spent 40 on the stang and if the ship you want is 100 can melt the stang and only pay 60 more
@analog field What happens to any mods I made on the stang? They're not expensive but I did spend some money on size 1 NNs and gimbles
Also, asking for a friend, but say someone was stupid enough to pay real world money for a mustang skin, can I somehow undo that <<<_>>
why do I keep getting shat on by rocks that I mine successfully?
they aren't exploding, just cracking open
how close are you to it?
@ivory forge you'd lose the mods but you can buy the stang for in game money as well
Not sure if you can melt skins
close, like 15m
also, why are rocks blowing and getting destroyed when the green part reaches 100% but the red part isn't? red part being only like 70%+
Anything in the red is bad
ok
It implies extra energy and will throw shit everywhere and or kill you
gotcha
Yeah you want the energy bar to be as low as possible in the green when it cracks and the rocks shouldnt move much
well currently I'm running into a problem where it takes forever to get to the green area, then SKYROCKETS into the red and I have to stop
how can I fix this?
Lower the laser power to 20 just as it goes into the green the adjust it from there?
Just as it starts to top out in green I make sure the little white bar is at the very top then I shut the laser off and back up and let whats left crack it, seems to work for me
So you bought a prospector and want to go mining. This might be helpful (What to mine where with what)
https://imgur.com/a/ufOUi7Q
if there is still energy in the red you will get damage
gotcha
I watched a YT video on mining and the guy said you can dump Quantuanium if time is running out. Is this true and if so then I should be able to dumb ores that I don't want. Can this be done or am I suckered into transport the crap.
It's"planned" for the prop i think but there upgrade that filters crap out but i don't think it's worth
There are modules reducing the % of innert material your mining head will absorb but at the moment that's all.
have to spend 10k for another hot suit just cause I logged in with nothing so I can go to Aberdeen
Question regarding hauling with a friend : I own a C2 , but I not sure how hauling with an other person could work. Obviously I could have him just as a co pilot, but would it work if I spawn the c2 for him and escort my own c2 with a faster ship. He would then go and just buy and land again on the orbital station and I would escort , land in the city to sell.
Is that possible?
He can't buy for you, only fly
Easier thing would be to work out the cost of a haul. 50/50 buy in and then just track the profit as far as you go
Then when done send back the amount paid at the start + (total profits made / 2)
Yeah, yeah the initial budget is not the problem, but was more thinking of how to make it more efficient
If you bought a paint on the site, you can exchange it for store credit.
In a faster ship i should be able to get from city to moon station faster than a c2 from orbital station to moon
This way we could save some time too
Hello guys. I raised some money to buy a Warden and a Gladius, i already have my starter and a prospector. I was thinking if i should get a big Hercules instead of the 2 fighters. Is cargo running profitable?
do you have a ship to ferry the stuff u mined and refined to sell?
No, i usually rent a connie. I'm looking to make more credits so i can buy more ships
C2 is a good cargo ship and there is money to be made, if you stick to the highly available commodities.
Not as sexy as trying to run laranite, but the profits will be steady.
Titanium, Fluorine, etc.
Thanks for the reply. Why do you say "trying" to run laranite? Hard to find stock for it?
In a C2? You'll have to wait a long time for the mines to produce enough of it to fill the whole hold, yes 🙂
Laranite is only produced at 20 scu/min, shared across all servers
It's not meant to large bulk trading really 😄
Awesome site btw dude. I got excited when i saw some routes for Laranite for 450k profit in 15 mins
So even if you were alone, you're looking at more than 35 mins just to fill up
of course you can always pick up some and fill the rest with something else
Thanks a lot ❤️
Make sure you know about

Helps a lot for those risky, poorly supplied commodities
In a C2 I would personally use at least 10,000 refresh rate filter
Below that, there's a big risk they won't have 700 SCU available
Are the results for the routes calculated live somehow, based on some stock? Or just price info? Cuz the laranite routes no longer pop up in the results
Not LIVE at all, unfortunately.
Laranite routes are usually filtered out by the refresh rate filter.
All of them have a refresh rate of <2000
Gotcha okay. Thanks for all the info
When's the next time the Reclaimer will be available for purchase, probably not until the next IAE?
bounty is very profitable (besides mining), trade works but is limited. You also need funds to seed the trade purchases too. It might be best, if you're comfortable with PvE and PvP, to go with the fighters. Once you have regained your funds, then get a C2 and trade. That will give you three game loops you can choose in-game. The C2 is a fun ship to fly and trade in.
Twice per year, At Invuctus Week in June/July and IAE in Nov.
Hey there, I’m a noob. Where do I find these “routes” to make some dough? And I take it I’ll need some type of bigger ship than the starter? THANKS!
Heck yeah, thanks. I didn't know if it was going to be available during Invictus as well.
Just saw your reply, i already kitted out the Warden 😄 Thanks
Cargo is really only profitable right now if you get into higher capacity ships, at least something like a Taurus. With smaller ships, if making money is your goal, you're far better off doing bounty missions. Much more money at a faster pace.. It's just how the alpha is right now.
But you can use this to see where to buy and sell (some places are bugged and don't work right now).
how does mining in the jail work
you use the hand held unit, it was buggy a few patches but I'm not sure of its status atm. You cut time off your sentence for mining
yeh I got put in the jail by unfortunate circumstance
Much appreciated!
Yes the mining works fine now! Just have to find the turn in thing
Any got a large ship doing cargo I can join? Im good on turrets if anyone has a starfarer
hi guys, anyone have any way of managing mining modules ? I hate running out and i bought a load but i can't see how many uses are left on a module. I don't mind wasting a use or 2 i would prefer to go into the field with a full 5 uses.
To see how many you have left, you use the ship interface with the F key. When you hold the pointer over the Module slot, it will tell you the number of uses that are left on the consumable.
It is way up on the top left of the cockpit
@north oyster and how to dump an almost spent module ?
Just swap it when you are in port and have a replacement. NOW, getting a replacement means you have to take the Prospector to the station that has the item you want
basically i bought a load of modules so that i don't have to go down to the refinery every time
Correct, you can open you ship management console in F1 and equip there
You can ONLY see the status while in the ship
lets say i have a module with 1 left on it in the ship and then i have 20 modules in local inventory
You have to be seating in the ship cockpit to bring up the status of the module
with the F key
ok, i'm going to try now... but there is no easy way of dumping a module with a single use on it no ?
Well, actually, there is no way to "dump" it unless you fly from the station and fire off the last useage of the module
It would make sense if we could dispose of an item but I think that is coming in a few patches
Is mining still a viable thing for prospector users during 3.16? Or has quantanium been nerfed around lyria, HUR L1 and halo belts?
Mining is still in a very good position. I though Quan had been nerfed but I had shifted where I was searching in the Halo without realizing it was a dead spot.
I found two 44% and 34% rocks yesterday
Ahh nice
The "sweet" spot is 11.5M Km (or a little closer) to ARC-L3 for me
I had started dropping out at 12M Km and I couldn't find anything
From where? I mean where do u jump from and to and when do u stop quantum?
From CRU-L1 you QT to ARC-L3. At 11.5M Km from ARC-L3 you press and HOLD the B button to cancel your jump (or kill the engines with " i "
Nice
Thanks
Will try that
I use lancet mining head
And brandt if needed
Do u use surge?
Yes, Lancet is what you want to use. I only ever use surge for when I want to rush or the asteroid is over 5200 (rare)
I had 3 full 32 SCU Quantainium loads yesterday
I think mining is still the best way to make money despite JT and NT being on
JT and NT requires some luck
And coordination
And skill
You will mainly find asteroids about 4900ish for the most part
Awesome
