no one is trying to steal scrap, it's either you pay the ransom for your cargo (and your life) or you're gonna get blown to dust.
if I wanted to steal your cargo, I'd have to run the stuff myself afterwards, that doesn't make a lot of sense, could've started with hauling in the first place.
I'm only interested in the booty
I imagine a Hull E's signature will be so massive you'll see it before you see Crusader when it's on the far side of the planet.
the Javelin at Jericho can be seen over 300km out right now
and we're just at the beginning of the scanning implementations, there's probably gonna be ways to chase a ships QT signature as well
how many cap shields does the jav have?
4
hard to say, it comes down to signature more than size, I guess the Hull E will be significantly lower since it wont run such a crazy power budget
So probably see the Jav before the Hull E
but even a hammerhead can be seen 100km out
Hulls can also turn off certain engines
doubt that will have a huge effect on signature, at least right now powerplants are the main contributor to sig, then shields
but right now modules are a bit messed up anyway, so lots of room for changes
Possible, but we will be in Alpha 4.x by then with a full system wipe of accounts
My take is that Citizen Con will announce Alpha 4. I think Jarred dropped a hint today on ISC at minute 5.
I expect 4.0 to be when server meshing and Pyro come out.
yea, that hint doesn't really sound like 4.0, just that inventory mechanics will massively change how we approach a lot of things in the PU
4.0 will be when static server meshing and Pyro are implemented

margin only defines the risk you take by purchasing it
its the raw buy/sell price per unit that defines actual profit
Where do I pick up the starter mining gear
weep and move on for the larger clusters, had a double whammy one like that on a cliff side so it was like.. cant drive to it nor crack it even if I could
is the ROC worth it for mining or save up for a mining ship?
if you have a transport it can be worth it provided you can sell all you mine lol
i have a cutlass black to haul it around
but the only mining ive done was in prison lol
trying to learn something that will make money... tried bounty hunting...sucked at that lol
i'm still a nooblet tho, only a few days in game
Does mineral rocks spawn at the event? or not so much
Now that'd be cool. XT with the need for raw minerals that just so happen to be in the rocks around the wreck sites.
@chilly herald if ya still around i can show ya minin
whats the most effective way to make money with mining?
mining all rocks you find or just going for quant
hey guys Caterpillar lifts on the sides and front still don't go all the way down, do they?
Look at all them hadanites clipped by the hill and the boulder
Not sure if this is a server spawning bug or what, had a blast earning 400k within 2 hours yesterday, but barely find any ores in 4 hours today, and when you found a bunch it is either dolivine or ... these buggy messes ^
I've had very little luck finding any hadanite rocks, 1 or 2 always ending game with less than half hull capacity, i think its bugged
Some pussy tosser shot me down in my rented Prospector and said something about mining in "safe zones". Where are these safe zones and do people regularly shoot down defenseless prospectors that can hardly kill a fly with those weapons.
Mining with a rented Prospector that doesnt allow you to change the mining head or add any consumables is useless by the way, waste of money...cant crack an average rock with it....
I've been doing a lot of research on this. There a ring of asteroids around the system, that's safe. Let me find the YouTube link.
While it may not be the best way to make money in Star Citizen in 2021, I think mining is currently the best way for a newcomer to experience Star Citizen. You'll see a lot of the game, experience adequate depth, and experience the most "polished" game loop. It's not actually polished, but it's as close as you'll get.

I think it's this one.
@hollow sedge thank you for this ive also been at the Aaron belt and enjoyed some chilled time relaxing whilst mining.
hew guys, I'm new to the game (bought in 2013 and first time playing), couple of questions:
- Is there a way to get in/out of the aurora mr without 3-5 tries? When I enter the ship there is a good chance I just get thrown out at the other end or somehow glitch around in it.
- I'm running medium settings on a gtx 3060ti and a 5950x and the perf is very sluggish, I read the game is demanding but this setup runs doom eternal on 4k close to maxed out. Is there a setting or something I should change?
- How do I pick up that rock to deliver it? It's from a mission
stand farther away from the door in the arurora and it'll be less prone to boot you out the other side.
thanks @high haven
any idea what to do about that rock? I've been sitting there for 10m 😄
That rock isn't for the mission you show in the Screenshot. You're looking for a package/box to deliver. Untrack and retrack mission and check your map.
Rocks like that need to be mined using a mining ship.
Then the ore is extracted and taken to refine/sell.
ah thanks
how do I leave the ship? I pressed every button on the keyboard but there's only explosions. Google says ctrl+f but that just briefly zooms in
Are you sat in the seat of stood up?
sat in it
thanks!
man this game is so frustrating to get started with, is there a tutorial or something to play that I somehow missed? I mean just getting out of the planet and the quantum travel and everything took ages to figure out (go to "friends" to open the space port hatch? really?).
I would recommend you take a look at the Guide system on the RSI website. They help newbies out with learning SC. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/17342-Welcome-Hub-Guide-System

whats the most effective way to make money with mining?
mining all rocks you find or just going for quant
I personally tend to go all Quant, but keep an eye out for anything else valuable such as Borase, Bexalite etc if in large deposits.
Did anyone reply and let you know ROC mining is close to dead in this patch?
Anyone hyped for BMM
See if higher settings will give you a bit more FPS. As it will put some of the load on your 3060
@humble magnet never rent a prospector. its trash. save up to buy.
i can show ya how to mine too.
@devout notch i only go for quant. if ya need hwlp learning i can show ya the ropes etc.
hey cross
holy shit never knew the actual size of thos rocks
ty, unfortunately I cannot figure out how to get to that menu in the first place 😂 would love to try the "play" approach even though reading the "over 1000+ articles" sounds fun, too 😂
whats a fun thing to get started with the game? Carrying boxes while trying to avoid glitches when entering a ship is not only frustrating but also very boring
do you recommend it at all for casual playing? I'm afraid I'll forget all the weird shortcuts and interactions you need to do for simple stuff. But I can see that it could be fun once you master all that
You can do casual play
I usually hop on for an hour and just fuck around and hop off on some days
what do you usually do @coarse cape ?
Well right now since xeno is up i do one of those if it ever works. Other wise I’ll just do some missions
what's xeno
Xenothreat
It’s this server wide event going on
You can earn a good amount of cash from it as well
Once it works ofc. It’s been pretty buggy for a lot of people
@quartz tusk I would keep doing delivery missions unlit you can afford armor/weapons and some new shop weapons
that's the carrying boxes thing right?
How many hrs do you think I should plan on doing that before the game starts being fun? 😂
Prob like until you get 20k or so from it
So like 1-2 hours I think
Once you get some good ship weapons you could try mercenary work
i have this which one do I need? The rec?
@quartz tusk UEC. Rec is for arena commander and star marine
I want to ask what is a good mining or cargo ship for a beginner I just bought the game yesterday and I’m still figuring out the game.
Prospector and Cutlass Black make a good mining/hauling combo when starting out. You can rent both of them on refinery decks in any -L1 station.
Thanks I appreciate the help!
Just mined on Lyria ( with Prospector ) looking for some Quantanium, what percentage is worth mining ? 30%v and above? 🤔
SC - "Fixed respawning from bed log out" - me 45 minutes later after 3 timeouts on loading page : Nah !
@supple ivy yeah 25% and up aint a bad run
@steep dune i can help ya get into mining. lemme know if ya need.
Thanks man, Ill save up for one,1 mil to go...
Thinking about spending some cash on upgrading and buying a Nomad and a ROC. I feel like it could be a good match before I have the cash for a prospector. Any thoughts from the community?
A ROC isn't too expensive in-game, and the ground vehicle pledges tend to be more expensive than their actual in-game value is likely to reflect. I would go for the Nomad and get the aUEC to buy a ROC in game, if that's the path you want to go down.
ROC mining is pretty weak this patch though, but has been a good source of money in previous versions.
Not sure about the roc going in the normad, never tried it, but I love the Nomad but I'll caution getting in and out of it is a bit of a pain, especially in Zero G. Like, don't use the automatic 'enter/exit' in zero G, you'll waaste time at best and cause damage at worst. Pop the hatch open and go in and out manually.
It's very handy for the event atm and cargo hauling missions as you can just yeet the parcels in the back and call it a day
Good tip. I actually haven’t seen any vids of the roc fitting on a nomad. So maybe that’s something I’ll have to dig for.
I was considering buying one as in I'm trying to get to the store at Hurston but terrain's missing
If you an wait like a half hour. I might be able to report back
Yea I like the whole pick up truck ASP look.
It is 100% space pick up truck and I was giggling all the way from the wreck site to Jericho aat sub light because of all the containers just hanging out the back
"What OSHA?"
That’s a good idea. I’d appreciate that. Might pm you on that.
Getting out into gravity is okay but getting in, just stand right at the bottom when the ladder deploys and pray
So what are you doing? Over never seen so many containers like that. Kinda new I only keep up with patch notes not game play.
Oh it's the Xeno threat event
I thought that was only combat, there’s a little something for everyone huh?
I highly reccomend you try it, it's a very good way to make cash. I went from about 100k to 1mil the past week and that was spending a few dozen grand here and there on clothes, guns, pimping ships and buying lots of burgers to show off to my friends while streaming
God damn it
Sorry, I keep getting the same bit of hurston missiing at the vehical buy and can't get in
I have a Titan I can fill the back of that thing up no problem.
Titan's good. I got the Stalker but not tried loading it yet. Very narrow space
You'll want the tractor beam tool
Might do that and just buy nomad with aUEC until I feel I like it and then buy one.
Okay, trying another server
Nomad's only 952,800 out of Hurston
You do a few good runs and you'll be there in no time
Broadly:
It's mostly shooting. There's NCP's in the wreck site, there's frequent attacks at the Jericho station to attack the NPC UEEN Javalin parked there. There's also a post hauling second stage event if the first half is sucessfull that features thre Idris's, the Jav, the UEEN support shipss and a buncha players just throwing lead and lazor at each other and it's spectacular.
But for the first stage, in addition to defending the Jav periodically and swatting NPC's in the wreck site there's wrecked cargo ships. Go in on foot, kill the NPc's on foot and then open the cargo hatch to yeet supplies into waiting ships. You can entirely do nothing but be the pilot of that waiting ship.
"maybe"
There's all three kinds of mission container I've found so far in there. Damage, Quantum and Time Sensitive cargo. You can haul one or if you're clever, fast and have a couple extra helping to load, all three.
Once the wreck's cleared, best to toss the yellow QT sensitive crates and the Blue Damage sensitive ones into a ship. Then if you can load it up fast enough, the green ones with a timer go in too. About 20+ mins on each and at non-QT speed it's about ten minutes at ~1k/m back to Jericho station to drop them off.
Just sit back and cruise. And watch the cash roll in, you get credit for helping out at all and a bonus if you succeed. I thought it was an error at first when I checked my balance after the first round, I got that much 🤣
Hmm. I’d love to give that a try. Sounds fun, I’ve been doing a lot of container missions might as well go out there and give it a whirl.
Oh yea. You'll have no problem finding a server for it. I notice there's a voice chat on Discord ehre for it. Might hop in there for ssome coordination.
Yea. Thanks for the advice!
Of course!
Okay so it's shonky as all hecc, works best reversing, and took me going up onto one side of the ramp before it bounced down flat again, but you can squeeze a Roc in the back of a nomad
This is the larger, two person Roc. I THINK the standard one seater is aa mite smaller but don't quote me on that
Oh no... it fell out when I closed it up
Update, if you really wedge it in there, it fits. And if it fits, it sits
With my sensible hat on I'd still advice a Cutty or a Connie (I'm a connie fan girl) but yea, you could try your luck with this
That's so jank, I love it
Jank is best
I THINK the one seater Roc's aa bit smaller and probably fit a bit better
But it'd still be dumb
Aaaand CTD
Where do we sell the stuff we pick up in the Roc? Mining outposts?
Oh yes, the standard ROC is almost half as long and a good bit narrower and definitely fits.
Fits a lot better in the Connie:
Don't rent the prospector though, the rental is pretty pathetic and you can't even make back what you put into renting it. The best thing is to save up and buy it
I can't speak for cost/reward but if you want to practice mining in the prospector, the interface in the Roc (at least the 2 person one) is practically identical.
I would recommend not wasting too much time in a ROC this patch, hopefully they will resolve some of the issues with it but it is a massive time sink for the amount of cash you can earn with it
I was doing okay picking up the hand minables in it until I crashed
There are a couple of other issues in this patch besides the ping problem. The components are dying out quicker this patch and also the bug of the laser and collector swapping
Components dying?
Yes, I've had the coolers or the computer die in just one trip multiple times
Didn't know they implemented computer compnents yet
On your display panel if you switch to component health you can watch it go down
My Hornet ghost died suddenly in space moments after a xeno event earlier. A good couple minutes after the last shots were fired.
My guess at the time was the cooler was damaged in the last skirmish and the heat built up in the remaining time but if I got that or the power plant damanged near to dead I guess they coulda degraded
Had to thumb a lift in a passing Vanguard bomber that was almost as beat up as me 🤣
I used to be able to get over 10 trips out of a ROC before I had to reclaim it. Now I feel lucky if I get two
Noted thanks. I mostly picked it up for the antics and because I'd been wanting to try it for a bit so I suspect I'll be back in the Prospector before long even if it was running well.
Really hoping they will restore the ROC mining because it's a great diversion when you get tired of mining in the prospector
The live servers should be going down for about 4 hours, in about 15 minutes
I do quite enjoy ROC mining and hope it's fixed in 3.15
Just got 30k'd just there so I'm leaving it for now. Got the connie with the Roc to orbit, hoping it's still in there when I log back in
Looks like something I’d be interested in. I’ve spent days out in the black with an SRV in Eilte mining up mats. I think it would be pretty cool to do it here especially if there’s something to make some coin off of.
Anyone near by knows how this fits in a Cutlass?
It does not
When it's functional (lacking laser bugs and you can actually find the nodes in reasonable time) it's a pretty good means of making money and quite immersive and interesting. It's just too damn riddled with bugs right now
ROC-DS does not fit
No worries! Hard to tell the two apart.

I did some DS mining with my Taurus at the start of 3.14 and left a long write-up on Spectrum about it. I found it fun and enjoyable, just couldn't get more than a few bits of ore in my DS after over an hour due to bugs
I'm doing solo but I went for the DS just for the extra cargo space, I dun't mind hopping out between rocks
The animation to get in and out of the laser could stand to be half as long, otherwise I don't mind the effort of repositioning, either.
I'm not saying I'm a min/maxer but like... I like to get involved in what I'm' doing for a stretch. I'd find it more annoying to get out and fly back somewhere to sell the crap
Yea, did the MFD screens in the cabin work for you? They seemed functional but they didn't move into place for me. Not like I terribly need them, mind you
As in they hinge inwards back into the cabin when you go to open it up, but when you're in place they don't hinge back so you can actually use them.
hopefully with the glitches getting fixed on mining and such cargo rates will not be as bad lol
not as free money will slow down a lot of folks from doing mining and transport for cash lol
@thin escarp thanks Cross! And curious how many work orders can you refine the Quantanium ? And secondly what's a recommended good cargo haular to put it in once refined to sell ? I've currently got a Connie but I'm hearing everyone saying put it in a Cutty ? 🤔 bit confused cause Connie holds more SCU
depends on how much of a material you have
nah connie is solid
like I hold off tell I can fill a cat with materials lol
they say that because some people cant afford connies
also. you can stack up your workorders. ive had as many as 29 at one station if not more.
I'll back the Connie over the cutty every day of the week as poor @sharp latch can tell you aas I've been up in their IM's answering that question for em
currently i have 5 finished and 14 more being worked
when people suggest the cutty its cause you can rent it
pretty much like for me my shipping goes if its too much for my cutty it goes in the cat, once the hull series comes out it will be cutty/cat/hull
But objectively, the only thing the Cutty has going for it is it's smaller and more manoeuvrable which helps if you're new to flying larger ships (Connie was my first, I'm used to how her heavy backside handles) and perhaps the layout of the cargo hold.
There's more volume in the Connie but it's vertical (Both in raw SCU terms and 'how many small craft can we squeeze in there?' terms) so you can fit more craft side by side on the Cutty than the Connie.
For Xenothreat and other similar considerations, the Cutty being smaller with a rear ramp + side doors does come in handy for versatility of loading but even in first person only, I've had no problem bringing the connie in under the wreck'ed ships and popping a side airlock open.
And it can be annoying to get on target against fighters in the connie but when you do, it's standard load out of 4x size 4's might as well be a fly swatter against those mosquitoes. I've had no problem with NPC's getting through the size 3 shield either.
Thanks @wintry ruin @thin escarp @slim atlas good advice! 👍
I wrote up a more detailed thing for poor Ray if you want to see it...
Alright let me have a gander...;)
I'll IM it as it's a textbox aand a bit. Anyone else curious let me know
I think the first article for long haul quarterly will be "Which hualer is best for me" just like you see on the stations lol
Connie, fookin' fight me, m8
So I hear on the other thread about a maintenance today at 4pm. Lot of people getting worried about wipes etc , I'm not too worried as I understand it's just Alpha and I love the grind anwyay. But curious would this effect the refine process ? And should I sell up ? Any thoughts ? 🤔 I know miners are a lot more laid back in this channel 👍
Lol
More laid back because we mine and watch Star Trek or the expanse while we play
Oh crap. I had some stuff I've been meaning to sell except Xeno got in the way xd
I dont think you'll see a wipe tell they do proper inventory
All profits deposit to rayness25
as that would be a nightmare for the DB to do a transfer to
Lol so true Beltawolda! @sharp latch
Oh hey! Big question. So in Elite if I wanted to grab another ship, all cargo had to come with, is that the same for SC?
Havnt tried to store a ship with cargo.
I'm preeeeeety sure anything bought and sold directly from terminals or picked up via mining will
However any parcels you place in the back like in Xeno, or plushies or other such things is a bit hit and miss at the moment.
There's a bug that causes the opposite however. If you drop off cargo for xeno you can log in and pull the ship with everything still in the back and it still couts
Something like. Not intentionally I think but I almost QT'd with a handful of the QT sensetive cargo in the back...
They soft reset at 3.14. I lost 7 order of quant
They will do again at 3.15
Interesting.🤔 soft resets. Okay cheers.
What exectly does 'soft reset' mean?
You ever done a character reset? That's what it is
Newp
Reset your location. Your char and ship loadout. Destroy all consumeable
It is final phase if all attempted to fix a bug has failed like bed log bug
Would be much bettee if they just reset location
Keeps bought ships, cash, components, armour, guns, clothes?
What are good ores to mine?
Site's a bit outdated but that table's still good
did they just... reset refinery works with the new patch?
Yep all we be kept
Oh praise emprah refinery works are safe.
They only do it between update. But sometimes....when it get wonky they will soft reset as well
They will let you know i think
I see
So those 60 to 80 percent yields i got are safe? Phew
is mining broken?
Not the last time I checked. Although some hand mining rocks seemed impossible to crack with the multi tool earlier.
Are you in a ship, roc or mining with the multi tool?
asteroid mining is currently broken
just curious though- are there stats on the Prospectors and Argo Moles capacities?
is it 3x more than the prospector?
96scu in the mole
Hi guys, I have a bunch of scraps but PO terminal won't let me sell it, my ship won't come up, any ideas?
Have you stored it, or is it still on the pad?
I tried both ways
See if they will buy your scrap on trading website
Some place refuse to buy stock if they dont demand it so it wont show up
@proper hound my ship won't even show up in the sell tab. Sorry I'm new, what do you mean trading website?
guys what exactly do we know about Ore nodes in general?
Do they spawn randomly all the time or it is when player comes in range? How long is the ore node alive, does it de-spawn on its own after limited amount of time or only when players crack them.
What about the cracked rocks, how long do they stay in the world before they de-spawn?
Which is the closest station to access Aaron's Halo?
Anyone got a fix for ROC mining when the laser stops progressing the charge level? it's so disheartening when you find a bunch of hadanite rocks and it just bugs out hard :/
So far the only way that i've tried which definitely fixes this bug is logout and login again.
However this also means losing all ores that have spawned.
Yeah :/ big sadge, thanks for the reply my dude
You can park and store your rock and bring it back out, it will fix it
Part of why I started roc mining with a pal, if that happens you can have them "stake the claim"
I was mining fine before maintenance last night. Only issue i had was sometimes a rock would be flagged as mineable but be totally uninteractable
I have managed to nip back to a station about 20 km away from the rock I was mining, sell and return but 20km isn't all that far
alright, that's something. So they don't re-spawn if you move 20 km away from them.
Ive noticed broken chunks of quant start despawning after longer period of time. 30-45 min maybe.
As time goes on they seam to grow more and more unstable and you hear the sound of rocks overloading by themselves to. Until they explode/disappear
That's accurate. You should probably mine two or three at one time at the most.
So another thing on those rocks you cant mine swap to your scanner I found if I scanned them with it I was able to mine
If they dont scan move on to another
They despawn similar line they explode
I can't even scan them
There's a separate issue with the miner scanner not scanning if you already scanned it. Swapping to scanning mode and scanning do fix that
That's a bug that was a huge problem back in May that has returned (like bugs do)
yeah, thats what I mean
flagging asteroids that are not actually scannable (for me last night, it was around 50-80% of them)
tried everything, scan mode, mining mode, switching, getting closer / further away, zapping it with the miner, absolutely nothing fixed it
Yea just scanning mode on approach.if it dont play ball. Keep on truckin
Also has anyone figured out a way to stop rocks showing up when you're not even in scanning mode and not in a mining ship?
do we know how the unbroken rocks despawn? and what are the conditions for the new rocks to spawn?
16008 messages....anyone have a solution to this ?
You'll probably want to turn off mobile push notifications for you phone. If you're deskopt, not really a lot else to do short of muting specific rooms or a whole server.
Personally I got discord set up so it doesn't make noises at me for any messages, only calls and streams and the like and I can chase white dots around in loading screens at my leisure.
I found that if I try to get into three or more asteroids that the purples will despawn before I can get to them, so nowadays I just crack two and harvest all those. Not real positive the time frame but it seems like it's close to 15 minutes
I'mma just start hunting for the rare high yielders that had been escaping me until recently.
To me it feels like more 15min honestly. I may take few hours and test this one day.
But I was asking about unbroken/untouched rocks. The one you just scan and leave. How or when do they de-spawn.
3.16 is going to be the cargo patch and I’m excited
does anyone have any resource recommendations for best Caterpillar component upgrades? I finally have in game $$ from XT and want to start hauling in my cat but want it to be as upgraded and capable as it can be. havent spent a lot of time experimenting with components
There is a couple of factors here. First, when you scan them they randomly show a result. If someone else comes behind you (at a distance) and scans them, they will get a totally different result on the yield. I don't know the cycle for regen and also I'm normally in Aaron's Halo, so it is so massive that we would never find the same spot again until the game updates to personal navigation waypoints that we can set.
temper your expectations least you get chopped up and spit out
I thought cargo refactor was going to take until next year
Obviously you will want a top notch Quantum drive, the TS-2. For the shields, since she now has TWO, I would say one Parapet and one FR-86. Maybe complement the Power Plants with swapping one of the Ginzel's for a JS-500
waaait you are saying the Ore composition changes if different person scans them? Given they come a bit later and dont go close to the first person?
Is this a fact?
You use to be able to scan a deposit and then go 20k away, return and rescan for new percentages. The type of ore would remain the same. CIG capped that, so now the distance is way greater than that
What are the best passive modules for lancet?
That a miner?
Unless you're actually having issues cracking open rocks, I say go for all the Filter's. Gets rid of innert materials, makes each run more profetable
i see
Thank you! I'll give this a shot and see how she flys
Just keep in mind that you will lose the passive modules like you do for active modules if you get a 30k, etc.
You spend a whole lot of funds on them and they are not persistent
Noted. Thanks man.
interesting! Thanks for the info.
Do you know are the rocks static in the sense, do they appear on the exact same place after some time has passed once you break them initially?
My impression is that they are static to a zone but might be random in that zone (on planets). As to the asteroid belt, it's anyone's guess. @gilded bluff
I'm hoping the zone idea works because I'm going to test it with trying to find ROC mineable deposits. I was planning of using some of my prior experience running search patterns (in the US Coast Guard) to try to locate deposits quicker around areas they would normally spawn.
GPS and planetmaps on the MFD's plz
Or just a location based bookmark system well i'd settle for a big spray painted rock at this point 😛
Just have someone with an inventory full of flares throw them out the back of the ship as you move along
Heh, yea. If you have cash to burn, pimp out the QD first in a Cat.
But really, it's good as is for it's main jobs.
So I've been trying for days, probs not even worth the time but where can I sell metal scrap?
If Olisar doesn't, there's a recycling plant on the moon around the other side of Crusader form it. Lemme look up the names
PO my ship doesn't even show up in the terminal at admin
I'm flying to Euterpe now
I'm not in game, can you see a place on Cellin that's called 'Reclamation' or something similar?
What am I doing? There's a site for this...
I'm on the site now, just was wondering if I was doing something wrong
Thanks for the help tho 🙂
ArcCorp > Wala
Crusader > Daymar
Crusader > Orison
Crusader > Olisar
Hurston (don't ever go to Hurston)
MicroTech >Euterpe
The admin terminals are probably not the right place to sell it.. the TDD terminals are where you want to sell actual cargo
I'm not sure about them being 'loose' in the hold like that but it should seem to work there
Except for scrap according to this site 🤣
There is a strange issue this patch about ships not showing up in the selling terminals. Some people report that changing armor and checking the terminal again may fix the problem.
@solar plinth try that ^^
I'll try that @crimson mantle thank you
Is there any point to trading anything other than scrap?
titanium sells really well
Practically everything sells better than scrap but scrap is about the only thing its hard to make a loss on. At least the last time I did trading heavily but that was a couple years ago.
You had to buy from thenright places low enough and sell at the right places high enough. Scrap on the other hand varied little ... but it had a tiny margin and you needed something with a Cat sized hold to make it worthwhile
Fluorine is actually the most abundant commodity there is, in theory 🙂
Scrap is a nice safe bet though, and you can trade it without landing on the surface!
@crimson mantle confirmed, changing a part of my armour made my ship show up at PO and a sold the scrap 😃
Hey all, sorry for the dumb question... I've been getting a fair amount of 30k's. I am thinking of just selling the raw ore instead of processing as I have lost 2 constellations full of processed ore.
Is anyone else doing this?
I do that sometimes when things are unstable or a patch is likely to come soon, yes. Better to get half value than none.
thanks!@bright flame
you can hop server until you found one that have low pop (much less likely chance to get 30k)
I spend a lazy 30 mins mining another batch and window shopping to see how stable it is before hauling
I have found a few websites that helps with trading, anyone has a favorite?
whats the best place to mine
I'm wondering the same thing. BC the two I found conflict
Hi, Im new to SC, I just recently started hand mining and I am having a problem selling. I have hadanite in my backpack and I go to Admin to sell. I go to the trading console>sell> Select Location and nothing pops up for personal inventory. Is there anyway around that or am I doing something wrong?
@wispy apex I keep mine up to date with the static data from the game's files. That being said, the economy is dynamic in-game, so prices do vary minute to minute (see https://sc-trade.tools/home#faq for more info)
@undone ibex nah. cutlas black
@wooden fractal where did you go.
@chilly herald best place depends what you are mining with.
ina roc. I've had my best luck on magda lately. in my mole with the new scanning being kinda borked i use a visual method in the the halo
lyria seems nerfed. but ive always done fairly well at cru l3 and hur l3.
in my prospectors/moles
if anyone needs help lemme know. i also run a weekly saturday night mining operation for huge $$$ and training.
Can someone explain why cargo hauling is bad right now?
First off, I apologize for the lack of...I don't know, overall visual pizzazz. I am tired and didn't feel like spending forever making a powerpoint to overlay on this. The actual video is a trade run I did after recording the audio, of Processed Food from Cellin to Area 18 after waking up in Orison. 45 minutes, less profit than stated in the Jo...
Thank you
@thin escarp first I was at hurston. Ive just tried selling again at port olisar and the same thing is happening. Ive tried leaving the materials in my backpack and also crated them and i still get no option
This is about all I got.
One thing that would really help is a way to see demand in game.
Like a delphi for supply and demand.
@wooden fractal weird.
Try creating a crate and placing it on a ship?
Or minimum one of those big screens they have every where. Anything would be better than what we have now which is nothing.
@slate galleon tried that as well. I'm stumped. It basically eliminates mining for me at the moment. I've gone to multiple areas trying to sell and its the same each time.
Your trying to sell to TDD not Admin right?
^
Lol that could be my problem. Didn't try that. I'll give it a shot and report back. Is there a location at Port olisar that I can sell?
Nomad's a good ship hands down
Quite probably the best single seater starter
Depends how much you gotta haul but if it's a small amount the Nomad does it terribly well. If you got more and you got the cash, next up in the multi-crew medium sized ships would be the connie line. After that you're onto larger, dedicated haulers like the Cat or the Herc.
@thin escarp @slate galleon reporting back, I just logged back in, i was at port olisar, decided to go to admin 1 more time before i moved. everything worked fine this time around. Must have been some weird bug. Thank you for your help
where is a good place to find hadanite
how profitable is a cutty b + ROC combo rn?
it can be really profitable if you can find hadanite
finding the hadanite is the problem since it only shows up on scans at about 1k meters
rip
neato
Here are the best spots: https://sc-trade.tools/mining?q=%257B%2522depositType%2522:%2522Ground%2520vehicle%2522,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%2522Hadanite%2522%255D,%2522itemNamesType%2522:%2522whitelist%2522%257D
You do need to fly very low to detect them now :/
I'm at Ambitious Dream and it seems there isn't a way to sell/refine ore from my Personal Inventory. Something I'm misunderstanding?
I don't have a source to sell/refine from when I access the terminals.
Make sure you are are the mining deck, not the admin
Thanks for the help! I went to both, no luck. I can't find confirmation info anywhere but it seems these gems that were FPS mined are just that; gems. These don't seem to be refinable and can only be sold as commodities, is that right?
I stored the gems I mined as commodities onto my ship and I was then able to reveal the option to sell them at the trading post in admin, but I still can't sell them at the refinery.
In other words, gems and ore fall under different categories, it seems.
lyria still a good place for prospector mining?
It's still viable, yes. You'll just likely find rocks you can't crack with a Prospector alone. Still, it's easy to identify Quant rocks as they're the only ones that come in groups of 2+
Oh, the gems! Indeed they are "normal" commodities. Next time give a try to https://sc-trade.tools/best-buyer. You can even refine by location to find one near you 😄
ah yea just had this issue hahaha
is the upcoming patch for xeno ending going to override all mining work orders (delete them)? curious since i just saw people talking about it possibly happening and that they arent mining cause they think its likely

It's always possible at any time. The hotfix for trying to make XT stop crashing (It was worth a shot) did not clear work orders, so unlikely that one that stops XT will not, either. Still, always be prepared to lose all your Work Orders unexpectedly.
alrighty, thank you
Got it, thanks!
Put it this was, the patch to put in XT did wipe all pending refinery jobs.
well you and Anrill have now said 2 different things so
oh wait i misunderstood
just woke up, my bad
Also, just refined materials for the first time and the only vehicle it lets me load my resources into is my greycat, can i not load refined materials into my prospector?
and if not, how would i sell the resources out of my greycat?
Nope. You need a Ship with Cargo Space. Like the Freelancer.
fuck i did not know that, thank you
but once again, ^
any recommendations for a cargo ship tho?
what size and price range are you thinking?
not really picky since i dont have a single one yet, what would be the cheapest ones? (just blew all of my money on the prospector and i have like 40k
)
You can rent a cutlass black to ferry one propector load at a time
thank you
if you got more cash I suggest a Freelancer
is cargo running currently working or is it still broken
Hey guys I'm fairly new, question, how do I get to aaron's halo that I keep hearing people talk about?
There is some profit to be made if you own a very large cargo ship
I want to mine something better that the L1's have to offer
Do you mine only quant, or the other valuables?
But with the money issues, and server craashing being so predominant, none of us are running large cargo right now.
i'm grinding towards getting a Hercules to do some cargo runs
I'm not quite good enough to mess with quant yet
I'm mining in my pros and shipping in my Cutlass, so small loads
Then you are right, Aaron Halo is the best spot if you don't want to go planetside: https://tinyurl.com/w6jcwyd7
There's plenty of diagrams and video tutorials out there 😄
But how do I find it, lol?
If you don't mind moons, there are good options though: https://tinyurl.com/ys9e7w38
I keep finding videos that so "go to aaron's halo"
Fluorine is just about the only commodity abundant enough to run with a C2: https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes?q=%257B%2522ship%2522:%2522C2%2520Hercules%2522,%2522investment%2522:200000,%2522showDetails%2522:true,%2522minQuantityPerMinute%2522:25000,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%255D%257D
Thanks!!!
nice, rented a cargo ship, loaded my refined quant into the rental. Only for the refined goods to despawn
oh nvm now its back wtf
fucking sigh of relief
@crimson mantle Just wanna say thank you for your tools, they are amazing
Did you get the info? When I get back to my computer I have a few helpful charts
@north oysterI did, thank you!
Aaron's Halo is a fun place to mine with no worries of being poached unless the game spawns an NPC (has happen to me, but very rare)
NPC's I can run from, its the tricky players that get me.
I'd recommend the Helix laser head
You can get that at Hur-L2 or PO
Remember size 1 only
If you decide to try Quantainium, the Lancet works best because of increased Green zone
I removed the laser guns and gimbals off of my prospector, I don't want to waste any energy on something that is worthless
I've been doing well with the Lancet so far. I'll try the Helix
Ok, then no need to swap then. Helix is pretty expensive, so if the Lancet is doing good, then stick with that
Should I pick up a Cutty (have ROC) , or a Prospector?
.. i dont get it
im trying to load my refined quanta into my freelancer
it has 36 scu
its completely empty (ive checked the cargo hold)
but in the refinery computer it shows 3000/2400 scu.... wth
Cargo isn't always visible in the cargo bay, it's entirely possible you have cargo aboard but can't see it
what can you mine with the propestor anything thats worth somerthing it wont even charge up
if u a rented or stock laser on prospector
you really aint gonna break shit
@stone coyote
The lancet is good enough for everything in space, it can take awhile to charge up a rock, I recommend using a surge module to get it up there quick
I have problems with the asteroids not scanning though so ive been stuck with surface mining
Yup, that is a major issue atm, around 50% for me are unscanable 😦
but sometimes you find a really good one
ah damn hopefully next patch things will be no as bad. what are some good spots for space mining?
There are not so many that I have found so far, a few tips from youtubers, but none that was worked out "well" I often spend upto 1hr finding an OK rock
nothing is more painful than being unable to mine a 40% quant rock with a mass of 6.5k
ive been enjoying mining tho
Yeah, that's why I don't mine Lyria much. Finding a juicy rock I can't crack alone is such a sad.
luckily i managed to find another 40% one i could crack, went to the refinery with a full tank of quant. first time pulling it off and i feel accomplished lol
whats a good build for the prospector?
Lancet + Surge/Brandt/<whatever>
what other planets do you recommend mining at?
Lyria is really the only way to go for quant rocks. The alternative would be Aaron Halo, where you won't find a rock a Prospector can't crack due to 5100 being max size.
thank you
"mining laser 1" is the main laser on the mole right?
is there a good place on aberdeen to look for hadanite
Best load since the Refining update!
Daym
So, is there any way to get your ROC back that has been impounded on a space station?
Going off my spreadsheet, I currently have about 954k in refined Quant processing or waiting for pickup.
Claim it, it's an instant claim at any ground vehicle station.
Sucks if you had cargo though.
which is a better place in terms of frequency and quality of rocks? the Halo or Lyria?
yes
Planets have "more per volume": see above
If you want to stick to space, those are the places: https://sc-trade.tools/mining?q=%257B%2522depositType%2522:%2522Spaceship%2522,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%2522Quantainium%2520%2528Raw%2529%2522%255D,%2522itemNamesType%2522:%2522whitelist%2522,%2522locationTypes%2522:%255B%2522Asteroid%2520field%2522,%2522Lagrangian%2520point%2522%255D,%2522locationTypesType%2522:%2522whitelist%2522%257D
That's the datamined answer in terms of raw quantity of quaitainium per location 😄
Of course some places may be more convenient, etc.
thanks!
Yeah, about 450 hadanite, and I went to the shipping terminal. They can take the cargo, but only 18 right now. I guess I'll come back and sell it off. Good think I have a second roc.
Has anyone found any way of making cargo runs even semi profitable?
Literally seems pointless ATM. :(
Not compared to other activities
I mean, anything would be nice. The commodities alert seem pointless and everything sells the same price at every location now i guess?
Filling up a C2 with scrap for 20k feels sad.
yeah I used to enjoy doing a bit of space trucking in Elite. have to wait for them to really implement trade gameplay
only trade i do in SC is moving Quant
I remember there was a way to tell a small ROC mine-able rock from the distance. What was that? It was something like if the rock is within 1500M and something something ...
If only we could move other people's refined ore for them. Can't even do that. Lol
yeah can't even crate up some Hadanite to give to someone
You can't? Haven't tied it but thought you might be able to do that.
can physically do it but shows up as stolen goods on their end when I tried
then they can't sell
Is mining fixed? https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-9980
I'd love that if part of the refinery station was a player hauling station, where you could sell your refined or for a % of their value and then other players could purchase the load and then sell it.
I quite enjoy the hauling part of mining.
yep sell the refined ore to other players and leave them with the 30K mess lol
Does this mean the rocks are two small to mine with a ROC (and have to be hand mined) or does it mean the rocks are under the fucking ground?
I tried to go out and mine them with my multitool but couldn't find them.
I have another case tonight where the outline of the ROC mineable rocks were there but I couldn't find the rocks. I assumed they were underground then. Man this is fucked up!
Sometimes mine-able rocks were clipped into boulders and slopes, so yeah kinda messed up.
Well, tonight it's been 100% of the time that this type of thing has happened to me on both Arial and Aberdeen.
No chance of getting those right?
Six oout of six finds and they're fucking hard to find.
Tip here: if you can clip the mining gun insude the rock. You can harvest it
I have a ROC and a conne, but i don't know which planet go. Any recomendations?
The mining gun of the ROC I assume?
Is the Store All Commodities option the one which creates a delivery type box which you can put on a ship?
Yes
How much hadenite (for instance) can a box hold?
As much as your ROC can hold
are Cyclone RN beacons in the game atm?
Can a ship dock at a port and keep a vehicle now?
It sure can
Silly question. Using the Prospector and surged the living daylights out of my first rock and destroyed it...:(
Question ...if I press Alt 1 ) to use it and the.Alt2 ( for the Brandt how do I switch it off ? How do I get back to the normal Lance laser ?
🤔
So cargo refreshes a certain ammount every minute?
Be stored with the vehicle I mean. Is that a yes? Does it work with a ROC which might have contents? Does it work in all ports where you can store a ship? Anyone tried it with a Nomad?
Anyone here get stuck in the Prospector chair ? Unable to get out after a huge haul ? Honestly it's almost like the bug knows when you going to do a good run lol 😫
Can you interact with anything?
Shift plus tab activates a cursor(that can't interact with anything) and loxks up input. Same again turns it off
Nothing. It's a bug. Has happened twice to me and generally happens after a good haul. You get stuck between you and the chair. The only thing you can interact is the door ... But the chair locks you in... Kind of like a kick in the nuts.. for all your hard work...😫 😩 only thing is backspace... But at that point whole Quantanium is gone .
Never get out of your chair between loading up and landing at the station.
Once you have landed at the station you can safely backspace and go sell/refine your cargo.
Edited: spelling
If you are going from station to station on it make sure to buzz atc and get the land checkmark before you leave, if you do 30k your ship will show up with all the stuff still if you do
But that wont work for quant lol
I personally dont enjoy quant mining, the time crunch on it is annoying
^
Thanks for the tips. Yeah money doesn't yield much comparative to the time invested but the journey of search and find is definitely rewarding 👍
You luck out on a few runs with high value rocks with high percentages, refine them using the high yield, low lost, very long time method back at the stations then just go out for more ore. Rinse repeat a few times then come back the next day to find a small fortune in refined junk waiting for you and haaul that very carefully to where you want to be
@delicate girder go to magda to roc mine. trust me
@supple ivy come mining with me today i gotchu
Thanks for tip @thin escarp but yeah out of the PU now.. appreciate the help & invitation m next time! . 👍
can anyone help me with mining?
What kind of mining
You go to a mining outpost, spawn your roc, load it into a ship, scan for gems, gather them and sell that at the mining outpost
Easy as pie
Fly around and scan for them. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Only small close by deposits will be gems. Far away ones are usually big rocks
Can't seperate the two from your pings until CIG changes it unfortunately
okay ty
Easy to tell the difference between a gem and a rock.
If you see a box at a distance of less the 4k, it's a gem.
Don't scan boxes from a distance, you will only detect boxes for gems at 1500m max, they will change to gems at 500m .
To find gems you have to fly low and slow. I mean really slow.
I have more luck driving 60 and stopping regularly than when I go 90-100, and over 100 it's almost impossible.
@hidden palm you need to fly low. id try magda
I've had a little luck finding gems by taking an investigation mission and using the cave area as a start point for searching for them
Yeah, I had my ROC stored on my Nomad for a while. Recently, it was with my Taurus over several gaming sessions.
If you land without authorization, your ship gets impounded and you end up standing at the terminals and you can go to the refinery deck and set up your job.
although i frequently get stuck in the chair, i dont see how you manage to lose a whole haul of it, what requires you to get out of the chair so often? lol
i always get stuck in it when landing at the station but by that point i just kill bind and still can make it to the terminals in time
Not sure if you got answered but if you get a Prospector you will need a ship like the cutty to carry the refined ore to market. Right now ROC mining is really screwed up because the PING is total trash for small deposits. You have to be within 1000 meters to pick them up. If you get a Prospector you can rent a cutty to take your refined ore to market until you can afford to buy the CB. I would say go for the Freelancer MAX over the cutty because of better transport for ROC and much more cargo for refinery jobs.
ROC mining has taken a huge hit in this patch. First problem was the PING and taking forever to find deposits now. Second is that the Laser fails (the old bug of laser and collector swapping roles). Third is that the ROC components are now failing at an excessive rate. I feel luck to get just one run before failure. Last attempt with the ROC was I found 6 hadanite rocks and it failed after the second rock being cracked. It's about totally FUBAR at the moment.
Yep, the PING is totally worthless for small deposits like we mine with the ROC. Now they don't show up unless you are within 1k meters of the deposit. And then the ROC is failing with the laser bug and also components failing quickly. it's like someone at CIG took a sudden hate towards the ROC and screwed it over this patch.
I could live with the tiny scan distance, as it makes the process more time consuming, but the sheer bugginess of ROCs in almost every aspect of them, makes it just not worth it. I hope it gets some love soon as I quite enjoyed ROC mining when it was mostly reliable.
is mining bug ?
For the whole time 3.14 was in PTU, the issue of the PING distance was listed as a "known issue" until they apparently couldn't resolve it and just listed it now as "works as intended"
Yes, the laser is swapping with the collector a good bit
ffs ok thanks
It was a bug they took care of at the May/June but apparently it has revisited us again
do the refinery jobs reset when you reset the account?
I mean do the jobs dissapear
If I 30k do I lose everything in my roc
From my experience yes
Thought so
now if I transferred some of the roc gems to my backpack and then get 30k'd, do they stay in the backpack at least?
Yes, I believe that the refinery jobs do not persist through a character reset.
Yes they do but you need to swap the armor out that you have stored the gems in. So if you loaded up your Pembroke armor, you need to then swap to another armor set. You might keep it if you're wearing it but I don't think so. I always swap the armor to something else and I have never lost any gems that way.
hm I see
I keep two sets of Pembroke armor just for that since they hold a fair amount.
hah, good idea
No you are correct. I jumped on to a different server and the haul was still intact. ;) So yeah thank goodness!
Much appreciated!
What is a great beginning ship for doing cargo runs?
Most of the ships you can get early dont have that much scu so cargo isnt really worth it.
How beginning?
Nomad
Cutlass black
Freelancer
Constilation
Trade as a concept is in a tough spot as it seems there is little supply.
https://starcitizen.tools/Cargo#Ship_Cargo_Stats
Price and Locations of Star Citizen Ships for Sale and For Rent in game. Browse older patch ship sales and rentals ship prices. Browse by location from where the ships are sold and rented.
While space battles are a core element of the Star Citizen experience, they are the beginning and not the end of creating a vast, interactive world. And one of the most important steps is developing a cargo system that allows players to more fully interact with their environment than any previous space game.
On first consideration, making cargo ...
Nomad but given how poor a return most cargo hauling is atm you really want something bigger of you want to make a living fro it. Caterpillar or Hercules
If they're too big, Connie class. 96 scu for most. The cargo hauler has a hundred and something.
wheres a decent place to mine with a prospector
could anybody help me mining with a prospector, i rented one yesterday but i dont know where to find quantanium
have you ever mined anything?
yes
k, just making sure you don't jump from 0 to 100
Quant is pretty common in the aaron halo and on Lyria, also used to be fairly common in the Yela belt and on Daymar I think, but not sure if that has changed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al97C_VdFUE
this video explains how to get to the Aaron Halo and how to find it on Lyria, might wanna skip around a bit guy talks a lot for little info
And my biggest single tip is double clicking the trigger sets mining laser power to zero.
Thx for the info : )
does the table also apply to 3.14?
If I use CRU-1 to refine, do I also have to pick it up there, or can I access my order via another refinery?
Has to be from the same refinery
thanks
https://sc-trade.tools/mining does apply and always will, if you have doubts about other sources 😄
@deft sequoia you cant break quant with a rented prospector
its useless stock laser aint cracking nothin
is there any viable trade routes for the MAX right now?
let me know if you find one, I love hauling cargo
As other may have already mentioned, the rental Prospector is extremely limited in what it can do. You will need to focus on pure volume what whatever you can get and either sell it raw (about half earnings) OR if you have a cargo ship Cutlass Black or larger, then refine and take to market.
You will be hard pressed to make back your investment as the current rental configuration stands. This is a complete failure by CIG in this area.
BUT you will learn the basics. Also, you can team with the King of Mining, @thin escarp and be in a great position to Learn and Earn with his team of MOLE ships.
What's the best armour with heat resistance?
You can do small trades in the ArcCorp area. A number of stock items spawn in quantities that the MAX can take advantage of. Be sure to check out @crimson mantle for good ideas
Pembroke
It is listed in the Undersuit section, not the normal armor section
Easiest to find at the Refinery Stores
Thanks, all I got is Novikov right now
FYI for all you Traders!! Ship Showdown is now taking votes. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-showdown2021/live-showdown
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.
Novikov is great for those frozen planets but she don't do too well on Aberdeen or Arial
oh man should I upgrade my max to a cat since it's available
CCU? Trade isn't your friend right now so that might be a waste of funds
I've got a C2 that is collecting dust
for the future, I still have a warden for current stuff
I plan to upgrade my game package Cutlass Black to a MAX because she is great for ROC transport (if it ever comes back as a viable game play) and refinery job deliveries to market.
I just want to be a space trucker 😦
Yeah, I plan to get a Hull C for that
It's bound to be a lucrative career again in the future.
Ok, I just gotta decide between the CAT and the Starrunner
the MSR is really sweet and fun but way less cargo than the CAT. The Starlifter is a beast for cargo and trade but little more pricey in that range. The CAT is the perfect balance between cost and ability. It's future ability to do other things is also a big plus
it is the C2, not the MSR
Ah, the Starlifter, ok
I love my C2 Starlifter and plan to keep it despite the state of trade
I'll keep mine until Merchantman, or another loaner....
I kind of wish I could get to try out the Hull C too, before MM
This fall I will try to secure CCU path to the Hull C and maybe the Orion if I'm feeling rich.
Excuse me, where's the hand cart option?
LOL, I Know right?
The Argo Cargo made it though
And of course they would have be voting against my favorite utility ship, the MAX to advance it
maybe I'll just keep my max
I'll just use my leftover $40 in store funds to buy a Dragonfly lol
put that in my MAX until cargo is worth putting in it
Also in this patch the MAX has unlimited laser ammo, you can fire all day long with no delay
Also the max has respectable cargo space to earn in game currency when trading becomes viable again
I can just work towards the bigger ones
is refining worth the trouble ?
can anybody help me with how to sell stuff from fps mining? i got some hadanite and i have tried both storing it on my ship and keeping it in my backpack. i've gone to mining outposts like edmond and stanhope and the admin terminal at lorville and nothing ever shows up under source on "sell". can't for the life of me figure out how to sell it
Compare the prices of refined vs raw in https://sc-trade.tools/home
Yes, but knowing the type of ores to refine and the type of process to do it comes into this gameplay loop
Never refine anything under Agricium
The slowest, highest yield and cheapest works best BUT you can't be in a rush because each load takes about a day to refine.
Some refineries offer a bonus or a penalty for what you are refining
Oh no. I had a free Freelancer after flying the cutty and I hated the handling of the FL so much I never flew it again. The max flies the same. Yecch. Yes it is bigger than a cutty but I would still save for an MSR to get the same cargo while flying better. Just my opinion.
Depends on what you get use to. I love the MAX and have logged many hours in her. The Cutty is my game package ship. The Roll-On and Roll-Off (RORO) of the MAX with the ROC is fantastic. The handling of the MAX is great for low, slow scanning. The fuel economy of the MAX is like no other. Never run below 98% hydrogen. Overall, I will be trading in my cutty for a MAX at the "great reset"
as someone who doesn't follow the game that closely, what does "great reset" stand for
I would also volunteer that the handling of all ships have changed and they had tweaked the MAX where she handles really well for a ship of her size ... not as good as a Crusader ship, but still good.
When they wipe all the accounts for the next version of the game aka Alpha 4
so it will get rid of all my ships besides my starter?
Everything for everybody set back to pledge
What you own from real world purchases is what you will have
and it just gives us the store money equivalent?
oh oh
I see what you mean
maybe
all ships, all aUEC, all components, inventory, etc. Only what you have in your hanger on the webpage is what you will have in the game. Just like starting over
sorry to confuse
So I'll keep my Aurora upgraded to a warden, and my standalone MAX
yes, anything you've bought in the store online with real world funds is yours through the whole game and into retail release
I have a small fleet that is focused on industry like trade and mining
My daily driver is my 325a that I can also use for bounties if I have to go that route
I think I'm just going to hold on to my current ships, and use the $40 I have left on the store to buy some single seater for just flying around
yeah, I have an Aurora for short hops and quick claims
I have to treat SC like an alcoholic does liquor ...
although I should melt my MAX and just buy the showdown version
same price, but gets me more insurance time
not trying to be a bother but can anybody help me with this? new to the game and can't figure out why i can't sell at any place i go. ship or personal inventory never shows up under source
change your armor and then go back into the terminal
i'll try that. thank you!
Are you able to load what you can in a smaller ship (Titan) and come back for the rest?
Much appreciated
hello, which place i can sell hardanite?
Is there an easy way to find your way back to your ship and ROC if you happen you die in an unrelated manner (heat bugged out and killed me when i took the helmet off to try and cool down faster) so everything is fine it didn't explode but have only the vaguest idea which hemisphere of the moon i was on let alone exactly where i found the last cluster.
Just about every planetary outpost: https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Hadanite
Where do you mine with a roc now? Basic Lazer, >if there's even any different ones atm
@outer wigeon i have my best luck on magda now
Thanks
Are shop inventories clientside?
no
aight
Taurus vs Freelancer MAX in terms of firepower output (for self-defense), which is better?
Need to find a dedicated cargo for carrying quants to planets and cutty black is way too slow (due to 48 SCU cargo size)
Tarus. This message brought to you by the Connie fan club.
Does it flies better than MAX tho, in your opinion
Handling? Been a while since I've flown a freelancer, and check the Erkul site for the raw manoeuvrability numbers but: god no. Connie is a big girl and all that mass is in her aft. She's been my main ship since my first day in the verse so I'm used to her though.
Lots of fire power for the pilot, though. Connie line also has one or two gun turrets, that parasite fighter is an unexpected punch in the right hands and with a size three shield you can certainly take a few hits before you need to worry
I thought Taurus doesn't have snub fighter bay? But anyways thanks for your pov man, i'll probably go for Taurus.
You night be right , I am very tired right now
Asked this exact same question earlier. I’m debating on the Taurus as well, just as an all arounder doubling as my bounty ship.
yeah with those firepower should be suffice. Not sure about the maneuverability tho. But still those large cargo capacity is good
Yummy! Actually managed to fill up my C2 with worthwhile cargo... Titanium!
niice
guys is there a list of hidden bases/places for this patch?
If only they were actually solid
I'll warn you both getting those guns on target and keeping them there against small.craft is an ask
Noted. But probably I only use it solely as cargo transport to cities so should be fine 👍
Ah then yea that should be good. I might have advised another model for more general use. If its JUST cargo hauling I might recommend looking at the caterpillar for sheer bulk
Yeah firepower is nice but bringing a connie to bear on something like an arrow is a pointless task that just results in you spinning around while getting peppered. Its a bit different if you have crew to man the turrets in that case its way less of an issue but as a single pilot large ships don't tend to be very handy against smaller ships. Missiles can help but you'll quickly find once your out of the off the surprise alpha strike smaller ships will just sit inside your missile stand off range and you end up having to try and outrun them to get enough space to lock and fire which even the AI seems pretty good at shutting that down let alone another player who will know exactly what the deal is once you try it once. Besides getting your connie dunked on by a light fighter hurts on an deep deep level
why does every time i get below 5000 scanning feet from the box gems , it disappears?
They have to crack the shields first. I sat in a swarm of npc fighters in the Connie and wasn't terribly bothered
Gems only show up at under 1000 meters. So if you're scanning something at 5k, it is the echo of a larger return like a large ore deposit - which I found can echo back from over 12K
with my prospector i get echoes somewhere in between 8k to 9k
they remain visible until about 15k after youve discovered them
both are large ships, with the Connie having a fair amount more to move around. The MAX got some love two patches ago that fixed the issues with thrusters, lights, etc and does pretty good overall for handling but neither ship will fly like a small fighter (of course). The connie has some crazy firepower and solid defenses now and is a premium ship to fly. The MAX is my go-to ship for now but I do have the CCU for MAX to Taurus sitting on ready.
Yeah, the echos, their "moving" and scanning is still somewhat confusing and a mess. Just using it in Aaron's Halo was an adventure. Not so bad planetside but PING remains worthless as related to ROC/FPS size deposits.
i think thats where im mining
its on left upper side of the map, right?
12.5mkm away
sometimes it takes quite some time until i find a roid thats worth mining
many only have like 3 - 7% quanta
only a few 20-50%
I've not nailed down all the "inputs" from the interface and HUD. To me it is a downgrade from the previous rendition.
Oh yea, I found a cluster of 9 Quans and only one was above 10%
is there a faster place for mining quanta?
@thin escarp has that aspect down pat for best locations. I still run the asteroid belt for convenience and ease of use.
is there a way i can tune my scanners and the ping?
most of the pings i cant scan at 8k+
It's a canned package at the moment. They do promise more granular control later
I really liked the previous PING implementation because they were separate items and also you could control range and power
My joystick mapping is still a mess in this patch and ping is making it all the more irritating. Also, the scanning isn't engaging as it should when working with mining, you sometimes have to fire the laser for the scan to update
oh yea its killing me
also if you have a lot cracked rocks and are sucking up the tasty quanta
searching for the ones with 100%
its killing too much time to scan the rocks again
the information should be saved somehow
absolutely
i always scan every rock. and then you have to scan them all again
It was saved and quickly retrieved in the old system, they need to bring that aspect back
Switching back to laser (set to lowest pwr) and hitting it with that is the quickest way to bring scan back online but that also waste time
yes thats what im doing. but its still a lot of wasted time
agreed
what im also missing is a display where you can check your cargo
It would be nice if contents was persistent on the HUD rather than having to swap to mining mode to check levels
the pilot should be able to see his cargo. and the displays back in the cargo rooms should also be used for checking the cargo
heck, most of the time my cargo doesn't render, so I just fly blind, LOL
but the ship having a status would be nice, that's for sure
some things like transfering cargo should be possible to order via your mobiglas
if you order via mobi maybe with some kind of a fee
i can order a pizza with my smartphone today lol
What is actual percent quantum of a bolder if it return 6000%?
Was is divide by 40?
i dont know sorry
Move the decimal two places over to the left. I'm not sure if it'll be a 60% rock, I've not seen one that high. When you scan it with the laser you will get a more accurate reading without the 100x error of readings
That would be a 60% rock however that doesnt acount for the amount of inert material in it so in reality it can be much lower if it has a lot of inert
But yes it is just dividing by 100
Is cargo hauling fixed yet, and has the duplication glitch for ore been removed yet?
I forgot to test the dup glitch last night, but I hope to test it again. I don't think it will be addressed until the next patch
Cargo hauling from refinery to TDD?
no, i am 90% sure that my razor doing scouts had the sensor say 6700% quantum and i saw multiple 5000% titanium's https://i.imgur.com/xbOrOev.png
I've noticed that the scans are all over the board from initial scan results to laser scanning before cracking. The laser stage shows the traditional "corrected' percentage concentration of ore in the deposit. I haven't documented yet how that is all working out but the trend that I have noticed is that you can't really use the initial scan for anything more than "yep it has a bunch of Quan" to "nope, nothing in that rock"
If it was at least consistent then a mustang alpha could pre-scout, calculate what the correct percents are, and call over the mining ship.
@paper pewter it's useless to scout ina non mining ship. the data is to fucked
is there no pattern?
We need to be able to pin rocks like targets when we note high concentrations.
i have never brought a deliverable cargo box with me for that purpose
meh, two 30ks in a row just when I finally start mining a decent rock.
mickeysoft has my fking number today
they need to port this to linux.
How's the drake caterpillar
strong cargo capacity, very difficult to load vehicles, poor agility and top speed, fun with 2 gunners https://i.imgur.com/hewiOe3.png
When they fix the lifts youd be able to fit most ground vehicles
The standard one should have lifts but they arent added yet
Guessing can make allot of credits with it?
Supply is very poor across the system currently. Profit margin is around 20% provided you can find cargo.
If you can get a full load of valuable cargo yes, but that is the hard part at the moment
isn't the m4 about the same price, in game?
StarRunner 4.9 million
C2 Hercules 4.9 million```
https://uexcorp.space/ships
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Yeah
oh meant the m2 herc
It’s a little more but holds less iirc since it’s made for hot drops and vehicle transport
But you get more armor and an extra turret
Yeah
Though trading is borked so would see much use
It’s nice to have if you got a mole or prospector though
looks sexier than the cat. That caterpillar is like driving a 200m shoebox
The big thing is with the cat is both turrets are active, dont think you can do that with the c2
Plus you have more guns for the pilot
good point
They get access to two but only one at a time
Ah
The cat with a crew of 3 you can lay down a wall of fire
I know in the m2 the co pilot gets a chin gun
I will say if youre doing any eva in zero g the cat is quicker to exit
Yeah
But if you need a tank its c2 all the waya
You have to open the cargo doors on the herc or take the crappy elevator
Though if I am roc mining solo I just use the cutty instead
To be accurate, both turrets on the C2 will fire regardless of which you're controlling, IF they both have line of sight.
Do you get to keep ore you mine in prison? because I'm like down there anyways
Mole + Taurus or Mole + Max? Thinking of a good miner + hauler package. Taurus hauls more but is bigger and more expensive. Max has 56 less SCU is smaller and less expensive. Thoughts?
Nope. Take it up with Hurston Dynamics.
why live
Taurus/MAX is in my thinking good addition for the Prospector as can haul aprox. 5x its load. For MOLE, I would chose something similar = 5x 96SCU
ok thanks. That would be the Cat or one of the Crusader haulers.
yeah, for ingame money anything. For $ I would look for Cat or Hull-B
If I rented a mole, would I be able to quantanium mine with it stock?
I do MOLE/Taurus personally, as I like the greater protection the Taurus has over the MAX, as well as that extra cargo room, which I've made use of many times. It is more of a challenge to land, however, it's been my experience you get sent to hangars that your ship barely fits into with both, so the differences of landing are pretty minor. The TTE (Time to Exit/Enter) for MAX and Taurus are very similar, too.
Deffo practice landing either with an empty hold. Or like, do any loaded landing with kid gloves on and the speed limiter barely off the stop to be safe. I love the Connie and can land her in first person without sweat either hanger or pad but it took time getting there.
I'm quite confident in landing the Connie, as well, and even rather enjoy that part of it. I still hope they add in a landing UI to make it clearer if my massive tail protrusions aren't hitting anything.
You cant rent MOLE
Oh we need the UI for sure, or even a camera. Lights directed at the landing gear for night landings is a must too.
does cargo have weight?
It does not feel like it does, but maybe someone can enlighten me more
No, not at the moment: loading up on 500 tons of gold doesn't do a thing 😄
good, and I thought I was crazy for getting no issues by loading 120 SCU gold into my freelancer and feeling no extra weight
hope thats changed soon, or I may actually land with my fully loaded hull class on a planet >:D
anyone know the best place to look for Aphorite?
Yes I do! Just scroll down: https://sc-trade.tools/deposits/Aphorite
😄
damn, was just searching hurston and didn't find anything. Ok thank you!
With the new radar rework you need to fly really low 😦
Only show up as a box on the HUD 2k out and a gem at about 500m
yep flying low and slow
When I was mining earlier the mining GUI kept resetting to the scanning thing, is there a known fix?
is there an estimated profit for mining hadanite in a roc?
I think it's 220k for a full load?
For how long do you usually have to fly around to find a few rocks that can fill up (>70%) a prospector?
I usually fly for 1.5 to 2 hours to kinda fill mine while on the MT moons.
I usually go to the asteroid belts & time ranges from 2 minutes to 2 hours lmao
They both fire regardless of LoS, however, they will converge correctly if they can
not if you lock the hallway doors open
M2 gets 2x S5 for pilot, 2 2x S4 for copilot, and 2x S4 for gunner
That is more firepower than the cat
Also significantly more tanky because all Drakes are made of paper and balsa wood:

Someone might have already replied but I'll chime in also. ROC mining is on life-support this patch for a couple of reason. 1. PING does not pick up ROC size deposits unless you are within 1k meters. So you can spend hours scanning and come up with maybe 3 deposits. 2. There is a bug of the laser/collector swapping roles and you can't mine any longer 3. the ROC components are now dying at an accelerated rate.
So 3.14 isn't a good patch for ROC mining. Otherwise we use to be able to pull about 220K aUEC each trip.
You're going to be hard pressed to find ROC deposits in this patch. The issue is the PING fails to pick them up unless you are right on top of the gems.
you may have a duplicate keybind or joystick setting. You can remap the scanning/ping. My setup is totally wrecked since 3.14 and I'm still trying to clean it up.
yeah the ROC is a mess. Twice now I can mine a group of rocks, then after that rocks just won't charge. They scan ok but just no charging. Is there any kind of work around?
besides storing then respawning.. which seems to be the only fix
Same, I found a nice deposit of 6 hadanite rocks, and was able to crack 2 of them before the ROC laser went fubar.
damn that sucks
Reclaim is about the only way, but since 2 minute wait, it works
Just miss the days of being able to store ROC in ship and use it for about a week without missing a beat. Now the whole game loop has been (once again) destroyed.
looking for an issue report to pile onto for this.
I need to do that also. HOWEVER, the issue with the PING is troublesome. For the whole of 3.14 PTU, the ping failure was listed as a "Known Issue" but just before the patch going Live, they changed the problem into "works as intended". Maddening
I notice lately even the boxes don't show up until after I see the gems and pass them up
but at least you can find them with persistance.. this broken ROC crap is just game over
I'm going to keep hammering CIG about the issue until it (pun intended) shows back up on their radar.
Time to VOTE !! We have the MOLE vs Reclaimer.

Not a difficult vote for those in the mining guilds, LOL
is mining worth it because i don't know how to do it but i want to
I'll add to this unminable deposits (Ten in one cluster!) and gem's spawning in under the ground or inside bigger rocks that you can't mine on top of the usual bugs, 30k's and what not that affects other parts of the game. Including money up and vanishing right now.
It's worth it when it works
Mining feels great when you get a full haul of Quant and manage to get it to the refinery quickly. But sometimes it takes a while to find a good rock and sometimes when you find one, you'll get a 30k and you'll have to start over.
I am not talking about it swapping to pinging and scanning, I am talking about when you have the mining laser out, and you are pointing it at a rock, the first thing it does is scan it or do some sound thing for a few seconds then you can mine.
It keeps swapping between the mining and that starting scan or sound thing.
Leave the mining mode laser active with 0% throttle
The Ping/Scan is wonky at best. The current setup doesn't keep the status of the ore you have already scanned. Plus initial scans are reported in the pathetic 1000% mode instead of actual readings. Then when you switch to mining, it "might" rescan but to kick the scan in, I have to hit the rock with the laser. Then the scan shows a more accurate reading (way different from the original ping/scan). The whole system is still messed up as it relates to mining, which I think was just an afterthought to the programmers that implemented the system.
Ok, thanks.
And what percentage in a rock should I be looking for (when mining quant).
I keep my laser bottomed out and use it as a "scanner" for ore after finding something to take a look at.
You first ping scans will show something like 4300% ... that should be close to a 40% Quan rock. BUT that won't be known until you do the laser scan and get ready to break it.
Yeah, use the V scan mode to see at a distance if it has quant, if it has quant fly towards it with mining mode and then make sure it has a good percentage
K
I found a 9 Asteroid Quan cluster. Only one was above 10% showing a 2300% reading. 😦
Was that in the Aaron halo?
yes
Ouch, I dunno what's worse, that or not finding one at all
Yeah.
I always mine in the belt, it's much more relaxing for me
I swap between the halo and Lyria depending on how much I am finding
That 3% Quantainium bonus makes it worth being home
True that, and in the asteroid field there's no gravity, atmosphere or wind fighting you
I always aim for ARC-L3 and fly 11.5M km to drop out of QT. It always seems to be a happy place
I spent weeks mining quant, then I didn’t know I had enough to buy a c2 until after I bought an MSR
Both of them are good but I wish I got the c2
Nice, been thinking of getting a C2. I have the cat but no idea if it's a worthy upgrade
Real dollars? I have the C2 but besides running refinery jobs (and I normally use the MAX for that) it really doesn't have any purpose at the moment.
Nah, in game money.
I got a Tonk just to say I had something to put in it
Yeah I have the cat for irl
ah, rgr, That works. When you said "upgrade" that threw me because there is no upgrade in monopoly money
Once trading gets fixed I imagine I'd do that as well
I like to keep track of different costs and try to make a profit
I do have the HULL C on my Christmas list too
At least I did when I played BDO
Has there been any good update to trading?
NO 😦
nah, trading is totally fubar
We won't see that until Cargo Refactor and also guilds for Trade
When we get reputation and also quest dealing with Trade events
o7 L8r
see ya
i feel like ROC mining has a lot of annoying things attached to it compared to just using a prospector
comes down to is it worth dealing with all the annoying stuff
finding a flat place to land, getting in it, mining, park and get out, fly somewhere else and repeat
i have had a lot of issues with the ramp of ships not being flat and i end up getting the roc stuck on a planet due to it
just cuz the ramp is just a small bit off the ground
the roc isn't worth the trouble. Too broken right now
too many things broken
just today:
- took it out, mined some rocks, dolvine
- found more rocks, rocks would not charge
- looked for more rocks, hoping rocks were bugged. Still wouldn't charge
- Then mining laser would not even come on
- Went to ground vehicle pad and tried storing/respawning roc, hoping that would fix it. I was able to store, but when I went to respawn it the pad was unable to retrieve it.
- tried logging out in ship, getting another server to respawn.. could not get out of bed.. had to crash, loosing forementioned meager harvest of dolvine.
- fine.
went to report issue... web page could not log me in, needed to approve pc, could not send code to validate.. bleh.
😔
ROC mining is a blast, love it ... sadly it has been killed off in 3.14. The challenges you listed as to getting down and low on the planet surface, spec'ing out landing, deployment and working directly on a moon or planet surface is exactly why I love it. It is an excellent change up from when I get tired of sitting in the cockpit of my Prospector.
Once you find a good ship and get use to it's handling for ROC support, it makes a huge difference. Of all the ships I have, the Freelancer MAX won out as the best RORO ROC support system. So much so that I will be CCU'ing my game package Cutlass Black to a MAX when the "great reset" happens (when they wipe all accounts for the next version of the game).
i had fun using the MSR
when i had one
Agreed, the MSR is an excellent ship and would make a good ROC support ship. My issue is that it has a much larger footprint as compared to the MAX. I'm able to land on a raised ridge on a moon and deploy with no issues where, when in the MSR, landing on the surface is more of a challenge.
true
I really hope they fix the roc soon, I really do enjoy it when it's working
for a mostly solo miner player... what do you guys think, C2 or an M2?
C2 for the cargo space, or M2 for the armor/firepower?
all i have atm is
are you happy with the C2?
yeah much sexier than the caterpiller
i hope the caterpiller will be nice down the road when they add in the modality
changing out parts
thats one of the selling points i think
caterpiller is not just a cargo ship
Yeah, one of the reasons I am not sure if I want to upgrade my cat to a c2
at the same time you could upgrade and once the cat is good melt it?
or buyback?
something
True, could do that
