I've had this, idk what to call it but basically when I shatter a rock it doesn't... explode? Like the rock breaks but all the pieces are still assembled in the same places as they were so it makes it really hard (and in some cases impossible) to mine all the pieces of it, and then when breaking it down even farther some of the pieces end up being under the map.
yea for me the scans are only 10km between each other. I dont use vtol mode, and again Im not full speed but half way to full speed. that third line up from SCM speed is where I slap that thingy. π
oh don't mine on a moon you will vera rarely find quant
mine in asteroid field hur L3
I wasn't having luck there, maybe I'm in the wrong place hm
I was just looking at SC Tools and it says Microtech's moons statistically have the highest concentration of Quant. And then someone else said Lyria is the best place for Quant. So I tried the moons last night and I'm trying out Lyria now.
give it an other try no joke, i try for 3 days to mine on a lot of different moon and i never find a rock with more than 10% quand, in hur L3 it take me max 15 minutes
I mean I've been finding them, just not super common I guess
Like I said 8k mass 60%. Its really easy if you end up finding a cluster of 2-6 Quant rocks because you're almost guaranteed to find at least 1 with a decent %
I hadnt ever found quant to be that plentiful on lyria but not saying it isnt... just not my experience.
3 trip today and everytime it never took me more than 15 minutes to find one. i cut my time between trip from 2h ( on moon but never came back with quant) to 40 minutes ( in Hur L3 100 quant)
because cru l1 offers the highest % for quantanium I feel kinda stuck around crusader for mining quant. despite that, Lagrange points hold the assumed highest % probability, possibly for quant
L points without a refinery that is.
I haven't found quant around cru l1 ... for example. but havent kept searching after no success so I could assume maybe some is there?
its nice to know that theres still better than 50% deposits .. wow. wonder where cig capped it
I have heard MT has great quant but mic l1 has 2% so I dont go there. though I have tested there. planet/moon surface mining will allow for larger than 5k mass deposits so for team mining, etc... planet and moon mining is still king imo. depending on the % probability of course.
@lethal wigeon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BKKud6HIdk though levski is gone, this will help you with the numbers π NOW the qd instantly shuts down so you have to figure that in
Hey guys!
With the addition of the Argo MOLE, I wanted to share how you can find the largest asteroid cluster in Stanton. This asteroid belt has a lot of minerals.
This is my first video and I am thinking about starting a german news channel with everything around star citizen. Compact, weekly and always up to date.
Please let me know what y...
@hollow sedge cheers man , was afraid it was gone
np
Do you lose mining consumables when you store your ship?
I keep losing them when I didn't use them all or have to claim my ship so idk where they're going
i quess you do because i have experience the same thing
no. only when you claim the ship or the ship is exlpoded
or if you use them. *
Hm, I stored my ship after mining quant and all of them are gone
quant will break down fast in your cargo
you have to hurry to refinery once you've finished mining it
maybe you have a bug? If you claim your ship, it will destroy your consumables. if you fit your consumables after you claim your ship and they disappear after storing ship, you may have another issue?
yeah potentially
What's the "best" cargo you can transport and sell with a cat?
Or is pretty much everything so unavailable it's not worth it?
and yes, i am aware of SC trade tools, but it just shows me stuff thats unrealistic. I wont wait 5 hours or so to buy/sell over 500 scu of Medical supplies
the "+ 1 447/min" is important
Will likely be borked until they finally squash the refinery bug
I highly suggest using a fairly high "refresh rate filter" when trading in a Caterpillar: https://i.imgur.com/3XNgXCy.png π
Something like 15k-25k. It will help filter out the small time trading routes.
Uuuh I did not know about this. Thanks π
does anyone run cargo anymore?
are there any decent routes?
Cause i really liked cargo hauling
sad to see it broken
Yes Cargo is still there, more of a wildcat operation and you have to explore or tap into folks that know like @rain nebula who have experience for trades and routes.
HOPEFULLY Trade will get the love in 3.13 like Bounties got love in 3.12
Then you have great tools like @crimson mantle that improve your chances
small scale trade is an option but the return is also "small" I used the free Freelancer last year to build my funds to open new options
Keeping in mind the MSR only has 114 scu available. Is there any cargo runs available that can bet me some profit?
Also understand itβs broken right now
Astatine out of Wela to A18 is a good run with about 15k or so profit without risking too much upfront aUEC
Diamonds are a good solid run. From T&M on Celin to a TDD at A18 or CBD on Lorville
Cool, thanks!
Check SC Trade Tools for ideas also
No, the CAT is the loaner ship for the Hercules C2
I did grind for most all my other ships including my 600i
My one year anniversary is coming up in June at the Invictus Week event. That's when I started
my apologies, There is a system in CIG that if you get a ship that isn't available yet, then they give you a loaner ship(s) until it comes out. For the Hercules Starlifter C2 it is both the Mercury Star Runner and the Drake CAT
ah
i wanna the the HULL A
so what loaner ship would i get?
Also do i keep the loaner ship after i get the ship i ordered
Not sure about the last point, I really don't know if you keep loaners
Freelancer for the Hull A (which makes sense)
https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003093114-Loaner-Ship-Matrix
"These are not permanent additions to your fleet. Once a ship on this list is Flight Ready, the loaner will be replaced by the ship you purchased and removed from this thread."
ok ty
yea im looking for a good hauler for 200 so i can start making alot of money cargo hauling
The MAX offers good capacity for decent cost. She flies like a freaking brick but she is dependable. I use one almost exclusively for hauling the ROC around, so she makes me plenty of aUEC
You can CCU your starter pack up to a MAX to save money or just buy the ship right out. Or you can get the Hull B or C. Hull A way too small. I would definitely lean towards the Hull C for trade (over the CAT, the C2 or any other trade focused ship)
cutlass red roc carrier master race
Red offers some good options and some "not ideal" options working with the ROC
like crawling under the roc to get in
LOL
or backspace in
i dont have to be scared loosing focus on checking survival time
i dont need water
I have a small fleet that waits hand and foot on the ROC. The Cutty, Valkyrie, and MAX. the ROC is that valuable an asset
Two cutties, the black and red
GIB Corsair

aren't hull series ships limited to space flight only? At least with the CAT or C2 you can take your load to the surface.
Correct
Good point
I had never flown the CAT before I got it as a loaner for the C2, I can see now why so many have sworn by her. She's a fine ship, ugly as sin, but still a fine ship.
she's an awesome ships, sits in my hangar collecting dust since they broke cargo so thoroughly with 3.12 π¦
really hope they fix things with 3.13
Likewise ... small wildcat trade options are out there but as a game play loop, trade isn't an option
I'm no prophet but I wold like to think that 3.13 will be for Trade what 3.12 was for bounties
with a full crew and a decent long range load out, she's dependable. https://www.erkul.games/loadout/AtUAk22J
throw in a couple fighters, and you can quickly see why pirates love her
I hope so...
I've tried small, and medium cargo runs... they just don't pay well
even tossing in box missions isn't helping
not when I can make 70k in 10 minutes doing a group vhrt
precisely
one other thing folks forget about the cat... she's going be modular as well
True and that has some serious future possibilities that can be fun
I finally decided to buy the game after playing for a few days. I got the Cutlass Black and now want to work towards fully customizing it. I see the erkul.games website but the way it works confuses me, anyone willing to help me understand it a bit better? lol
Great package, you'll be happy with that
How can we help?
The cutty has one size 2 shield (sadly) the FR-76 would be good here
Well, I just want to find out the best possible modifications to the ship but the website is a bit confusing for me
The QT premio is the XL-1 but the Crossfield is maybe the best between speed and fuel
I understand, and it was for everyone that first started using it
https://www.erkul.games/loadout/8LjAuMqH
This is what I setup, its basically the best of everything as far as I can tell, what I'm most curious about atm is the Coolers. It says I'm only using 687k but with these 2 coolers it can go upto 17600k. But I feel like the 676k is wrong?
don't worry about messing with the manned turrent for now, you'll hardly ever use it
Everything else looks good. The industrial coolers are great but are not that fast on recharge, the impact of coolers is up in the air (they are vital but sometimes you don't need to sink cash into them). The Military coolers are faster in that respect
Well, I wouldn't say that
I have 2 friends that play with me, I'd like to do maybe BH missions and let one of them use the turret
Sure, if you have the aUEC to spend, then go for it
that's great, I'm more of a lone wolf
I started with the Titan package but the game really took off for me when I got the Cutlass, so I think you made a great decision
Yeah, I figured it wasn't much more for the price
I've spent 100$+ on other games, Borderlands 3, COD, etc so why not, this game is more than likely going to be played a lot longer than either of those ever will
Since it'll be in development for at least 200 more years ;)
I would then go ahead and get the ROC ingame and have it as an earning loop also
If funds are limited, then you can rent it for 7000 aUEC and make enough to buy it in one trip
I might rent the ROC and try that out first, I think I want to go for a Prospector first if at all possible
I have both
it's good to change up
Bounties are meta now in 3.12, so the Cutty will do great with those also
I've been doing a little Quant mining, I'm not very good at finding the rocks but mining them doesn't seem to be the hardest thing. Stressful? Yeah. Difficult? Not as much
The nice thing is that the cutty can normally take two prospector runs to market for you
Made 350k on 2 Quant trips with my friend, so like 175k each since we were mining together. Then we had a 30k that lost us 2 good rocks so that was kinda depressing, also I had a weird thing happen with my quant trip
ROC*
I took it to the station with no blinking light then as soon as I landed the light was flashing red very quickly and told me to jettison the cargo or it'll explode
The cutty is the bee-knees
When there was no prior blinking or warning and I definitely didn't take more than 15 min π€
the corsair is the only thing which could be better
GIB Corsair
I love drake interiors
the loaners for it are also pretty nice
what loaner?
for the Corsair
what do you get?
The Connie and the Bucc
Corsair is just a really big Cutlass Black it looks like? lol
yes
4 size 5 and two size 4 front facing
she might get nerfed, we are talking about a Drake
Looks like it can carry a bit of cargo and small vehicles
It's larger than the cutty
it can carry the ursa rover +32 SCU cargo or 76 SCU cargo I believe
damn, thats nice
yeah
It might be one of the ships I aim for then
My current favorite concept ships are the Merchantmen and Orion, they both look dope af
I love the connie but hate the interior
hmmm. how much will corsair be at ship sale I wonder?
150 right?
150? Thats not bad, I was considering my next upgrade to possibly be Freelancer Max at 150, but if the Corsair is 150... well that might be a different story then π
it's 232 on the grey market
sad, I can't remember what I paid for it, but I melted and did a CCU up to it
I turned my Nomad token into the Corsair
If interested, it will be an option at fleet week or Invictus week
I have an aurora lol
hold off on grey market because you might eventually regret not having those funds count towards the game (just my opinion)
considering upgrading my game package to the cutty black
that's what I did (from the Titan)
but I have a in game purchased cutty
The game took on a whole new world for me
ah, then if you get it as part of your real fleet, then when the "great reset" happens, you will be set
or just wait until then
no rush
I'm holding a Nomad LTI buyback that I will get and turn into a Prospector when the wipe happens (this or next year)
They're gonna get BIG
Mole is good but two people in a Mole can't make more than two Prospectors
prospector flies easier, quicker, takes less time to get in and out of atmo, to and from station and belt etc... though it can hold more than a prospector, I wouldnt use a Mole for Quantanium unless you had enough to fill it up from one deposit. thats just me tho.
Concur
I disagree, I use Mole for solo mining and with my friend.
Atmo flight is moot when you only mine in the Belt and it isn't really that slower in QT and regular flight since most time is spent mining and the asteroids are only 4-5k away from each other most of the time.
Using the Lancet for solo mining will let you break 95% of the rocks you find. You will do less trip to and from the refinery with the 96scu.
Even mining Quantinium is better with the Mole. If you choose your rocks wisely, you'll easily fill over 32scu with one good rock(35-40%) or two average. That's even picking up a very minimal amount of Inert mats.
A run to and from the Belt will take 3min to go and 3min to come back plus 3-5 minutes to drop off the goods.
So doing that with a prospector will cost you 12-16 more minutes if you do 96scu with a prospector instead of one with an Argo
A run will take me between 30-45minutes if I cherry pick only the best materials. So in my usual 3h plate I'll do from 4-6 runs (384-576scu total)
If it were only Laranite it would have a value of 1.1-1.7mil.
With a prospector I'd be able to do a run in 20-30min. So 6-9 runs. For a value of 576k-864k.
YMMV but in my experience the Argo Mole has too many advantages rn, even for solo mining.
I wouldn't use it for planetery and moon mining tho.
What does YMMV mean? π€ Never seen that before lol
Anyone know if there's anyway to know if you can sell a commodity at a place before traveling there?
I've been getting the "Service Error" when trying to sell Commodities a lot but I realized that the ship I have it stored in, somehow needs to be claimed and is technically stored at another station (even though I purposefully don't use it because I only use it as storage) but could that be why I can't sell my cargo? Or is it simply just the, too many people are selling that atm bug and I have to try another time?
Your mileage may vary YMMV ;)
I hate that refinery bug, it is totally killing all mining/refining/selling and trade except selling Raw ore or selling ROC harvestables
what is that bug?
some call it the "infinite money" bug, but basically crashes the back-end servers.
i just mined quantainium and got back with my prospector from free flight(i never flew faster than the red mark on speed)
then i got out without the warning sound happening and ran as fast as i could towards the refinery on cur l1
when i was there i couldnt see the prospector at the refinery screen but i saw it on the selling ore screen
so i tryed to sell it b4 it would expload and got an error message that the trade failed after some time passed i could finally see it on the refinery screen but the quantainium dissapeared...
did i do something wrong? do i have to store the ship right after i landed or is there a way to refine it?
Did you STOW the ship before going to the Refinery?
Yes, stow the ship and it stops the timer
fml i will try that
i just kept doing the runs 3 times now wondering what do i have to do
damn thx man
this is the refinery sell bug
notice the bottom left aUEC figure. That keeps growing
i am about to go out mole mining...... anyone here wanna come along?
Also stowing the ship, in my experience, solves any instances of it not showing the ship in the refinery screen for whatever reason. So its just a good thing to do
are you actually able to sell that?
got that same bug with a foodbar inside my personal inventory
No, I"m going to claim the ship and blow the cargo
but this means that what I enjoy in Star Citizen is completely FUBAR
I want to wait until it gets to a Trillion dollars first, LOL - photo moment
man idk who said lyria is a good quantum spot
because is terrible
found 1 qauntum rock after 40 minutes
Yela still a good spot, I have found quite a bit of qt out there
some trips take longer than others but I always find a good rock 45% or so
enough to fill a prospector usually
the 3 moons of Microtech technically have the highest concentration of Quantainium
Is there anything i can do about unstable cargo, ship wise?
Upgrade? Powerslider somewhere?
Prosecutor btw
Prospector* lol and nothing I know of but I'm also new
There is nothing but time and impact that affects the unstable quantainium. You can get a very fast QT drive like the VK-00 to save time. Also STOW your ship first thing or land without permission and allow it to get impounded.
When working with quantainium, do Not start gathering the ore until the whole rock is cracked and ready to extract
If you have two rocks, crack both all the way down
Gather and haul ass to the station
with the prospector its not worth
depending where you mine i guess
if its anywhere where you are warping between the main planets i wouldnt
almost all ones you swap it to use to much fuel so you would need a pit stop in between
@north oyster thank you
The Prospector is nothing but worth it, I've only played this game for about 4 days but I've made probably 1.2mil today with about 5 Prospector trips and plan on doing a few more and start refining before I sleep then turning it all in when I wake up
But I do have a question. Is there a limit to the number of work orders you can have active/inactive at a time?
Youre quant blew up good sir
make sure to use the auto land function when landing at the pad quant doesnt like the bumps thay occur in manual landing
There is not
Had a bunch of luck a few days ago but not my quantum runs been super dry
Having to settle for a 10% rock that eventually shows up
I mean, just keep looking. I just spent 30 minutes and finally found a 30%
is there a workaround for that bug where u can't store the ship?
Leave the server
or get out pilot seat and kill yourself.
usually that stores the ship too
gm, has anyone seen where when scanning a planet for ROC mining, you only see ship mineables?
Hello! That's an easy fix: you have to be closer to the ground to pick up ROC-deposits.
The reason why is because their radar signature is much smaller, so you're most likely out of range π
Roc mining is fun.
I hope there are rare gems in the New caves
here's few things to keep in mind when scanning for ROC mine-able ore.
First: The ping for these will not pop up unless you are with 2k of them AND you scan at 100%. So I would encourage you to go near the large ore and then do a full power scan because
Second: Most ROC scanables are located near the large ore, so their presence can be "hidden" by the large ore hits. Being near the large ore means it will not spawn a box when the ping happens, just the ROC ore will throw out a box.
Third: GO SLOW. Hauling ass and pinging as you go makes sure you will miss about 90% of deposits. Plus the ship's scanners on the Cutty, MAX and other non-mining ships don't seem to grab the ore as readily as on the Prospector. But this might be my impressions only
cutty low and slow for roc mining, I will concur with that. I am barely skipping off the ground in my cutty while scanning for ore
Appreciate itπ I wish I could upgrade the scanner
I check the rock out before landing too, if its hand minable hadanite I wont stop either
Msr is pretty good as well for roc mining if you have other people with you
You can tell is just a Hand mineable if it is .11 in size
Scanning from the cutty sends to be hit and miss too
I am curious does lending a mining vehicle work for the person borrowing? As in, are they able to sell/refine materials or would I have to?
I think only the owner will get paid for the material in the vehicle
The owner has to
Thought so :). So I'll have to be around to take out 2 crew moles xD
where can i sell much refined quantainium in one go?
i tried in lorvile but i have to take 3 or 4 turn to empty the stash at my freelancer
Area18 TDD buys the most
https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Quantainium
Unfortunately that is the issue. There is a bug that is killing all trade and also all refinery jobs. So if you are taking a refinery job to the TDD to sell, then it will take some time to off load it. The bug is pretty vicious
oh damn so it will be faster if i go from big to another big city or what should i do thne?
or going str8 to area 18 like sc trade tools told
but considering that... mining isn't very efficient unless you just sell the raw ore cutting your own margin
I mean, it depends. I usually just sell at the terminal when I'm busy doing other things
I tab out and tab back in every few minutes to check if I can sell then go back to what I was doing before
yeah but considering that u can do more money just selling it and doing some long trade hauls while beeing afk in quantum travel
Can I take a trolly into a cave and bring the missing dude out?
Probably not
I am not sure if this should be in here but has anyone purchased the starfarer, if so do you like it?
guys where is the best spot to mine quantanium
im in HUR L3 for 1 hour and dont found anything
The ONLY thing not broke in mining is the ROC selling the gems and selling raw ore at the refinery from the Prospector and MOLE
I like the ROC but it's like a pain in the ass, because you have to get off and on the ship constantly
Only do for hadanite that is 3 or more clusters
Last time I made over 200k from two stops. But that was a good run, not normal
Normally 4 stops
I want to Upgrade my Cutlass Black but don't understand the https://www.erkul.games website. Can someone explain/help me upgrade it? lol
OK, for the cutty, the single largest downside of this fine ship is the single shield. I would go for the FR-76. Just go for the JS-400 for the power plant. The coolers may be ok if you use ballistic guns but if you decide energy weapons then the Avalanche coolers would be best.
For weapons, the Cutty comes with mixed weapons. Not ideal.
I would suggest Either ballistic or energy but not both at the same time. There is a lot of debate on "the best" and it really comes down to budget and preference.
Gimballed or Fixed ... with the desync, gimbal is having a little rougher time
actually eveything is a little rougher, LOL
For the Quantum drive I would go with either the XL-1 or the Crossfield. The Crossfield is almost as fast and doesn't burn as much fuel
For Ballistic, if you stay gimbaled, get two more GT-215
For fixed, go with the GT-220 on all 4 points
For Energy, Attritions have been popular (only available in Lorville)
Yes I plan on all Energy Weapons because I don't wanna deal with Ballistics
idk which weapons I prefer when it comes to gimbaled or fixed as I don't think I've used both types yet?
I would switch the two ballistics and stay gimballed and try that
that way you're not investing too much
So all gimbaled and all energy?
Also idc about the price
I just want to upgrade it as much as possible, I think I have like 600k to spare or something and I'm buying my own Prospector so I can make more if need be
Two more scorpions will run about 11k aUEC
The thing that confuses me the most is the coolers I think
Don't let it
they are not a big factor but keep the ones you have and if the ship overheats, then upgrade
This is what I built when looking at the website, the coolers say they only use like "585k" out of like 14,000k or something so I'm confused as to why I would need coolers so good?
I just don't want my weapons to overheat since I'm going full Energy, thats the main thing
Testing will be key here
I see
You can just take her up and start firing into space and see how long before overheating
I'm also just trying to get a feel for the website, it gives so much excess information its overwhelming
the layout of the new site isn't as good as the old, imo. But once you get use to it, then you can use it as a tool
it seems useful for most things
like I can see the shield capacity, charge rate and cooldown pretty easily but things like the cooler confuse the fck out of me
weapons (mostly) make sense
I would stick with military as for speed
Like the industrial power plant has a lot of juice but she's slow
speed being the QD?
speed in regen times, etc
check out some of Subliminal's videos on YT, he explains a lot on those
Hm, alright
use laser cannons. lf-33, fr-76 shield, crossfield QD
no turret guns unless you have a friend
also change all your missles to rattler II's or arrester 3's
I do and want to upgrade my turret, like I said money isn't something I'm worried about, it doesn't seem upgrading ships is the biggest cost and I'd rather my friend be able to use my turret than not
then sure
6 LF-33's
or quarrelers if you want more range for slightly less damage
coolers do not affect component performance so long as you meet the minimum heating requirements
hello citizen, i would need your help if possible, i try to sell hadanite from my roc and i can processed the transaction but it result in a transaction failed service error. does anyone know how to fix this
Man my luck with quantum recently has been shite
What about NDB-30s for the Cutty? I liked them on the Arrow.
cutty isn't a great platform for those
Because of speed / maneuverability?
did the black cutty's scanner just change where it can't scan mineable rocks?
They seem to have damage fall off after 600m, unless you're doing close quarters combat with cutty. They're probably not efficient
impossible to trade now
Hercules will have no functionality in .13 than to carry around tonks and ballistia for some " fun " .
Till they fix trading/inventory restocks. Fingers crossed.
I wasn't certain if the cutty's scanner shoud scan mineable rocks... it used to but doesn't seem to now
didn't want to open a bug report unless it is supposed to
Like I mentioned, the type of weapon has a lot to do with personal preferences
Some rocks are bugged
anyone got some tips for not getting lost in caves while hand-mining? I usually get to a point with a huge dropoff that I can't see a way out of so I turn around.
Glow sticks
thanks π makes sense if is the rock
When I was doing cave missions, Ive done it so many times, I just remembered whole system π
Or lack of rocks. I've been on some moons that didn't have anything to scan for about 5 minutes
or rocks that scan but there is nothing there or they disappear
that happens in the asteroid belt for sure
If using the Cutty then you are carrying a ROC? Be sure to scan at 100% unless looking for large ore to then scan for minables after that
yeah, I have been doing that.. but all it is difficult to not hit the ground :). Large ore is what I end up getting A LOT
That's a good start. when you are near the large ore so that the icons show up, then do a 100% scan and look for minables. They will not show up unless you are within 2k of them
You don't want to be moving fast
I don't like how I loose my forward control in VTOL, so I never do that (personally). I go about half to 1/3 speed
hmm, I may try that.. I am still trying to figure out the flight controls .. I want to use my hotas but I believe I have to hand edit the XML file to allow the use of all three (mouse/kb,hotas, and game controller)
if you are too low, that could be an issue also. I think about 500 to 800 works good
Do keep your landing gear deployed, just in case
no, I try to keep that up as I keep ripping off its whiskers π
as long as the ramp doesn't damage, it is a good trip
you don't have to do any of that, what you need to do is find a tutorial that isn't from the last century tho.
@ornate rock, yeah everything I have seen on that is around 2015 or before.
it's all easily doable from within the game
probably because it's really not that complicated and doesn't warrant extensive tutorials any more. tho there are a few on youtube.
if you have any questions, just pop them in #sim-and-pc-hardware
I use dual sticks, m&k, etc and I have never directly edited a file
I have edited my ED version so I just haven't taken the time to fully figure it out yet.. thanks for the suggestion , I will take a look at that channel
back in the super early days of SC, you even had to edit your ships loadout in xml files
ouch
what are some good gimbled laser weapons for cutty? Any suggestion? I have snowpacks already and upgraded PS
best to ask in #flight-combat-racing but the answer is probably CF repeaters
if you want to go ROC mining, tbh drop any weapons from the ship, so you're not even tempted to fight back and instead focus on running away
Always keep your weapons on the cutty, but on the Prospector, no need
cutlass black is probably the ship that has the best chances, but if you're not very well versed in pvp and have to defend yourself on top, probably better to run
chg out the ballistic for all energy and you're good
Run is always a good option. I've had NPCs attack me in the Prospector
imo it's the best options unless you really know what you're doing
I normally mine where there is not a single soul on moons, but the game will spin up an NPC to keep me busy for a bit
can't even remember when I've seen the last hostile npc on a moon
Get this, I dropped from an Orbital Marker the other day and an NPC spun up on me when I got to the surface!
I ran into crusader security a few times
that was kinda weird being in mid air getting told to hold for scan
Glad they dialed those down a little. I've been stopped and scanned 3 times just going to the pad to land the Prospector, for pete's sake.
In a row! not different times but one after another
yeah, I was looking at other missions as well if I get bored with mining to grind creds π
Always ... have multiple change up options to keep it fun. I would swap out bounties, trade and mining (when trade and mining worked). I'm done for the most part with 3.12. Stuck now that the refinery bug is killing everything
i havent been scanned once in .1
yeah, scanning by patrol seems to be off in 3.12
with Trade and Refinery 100% bent and broken, I guess I will just do Raw Ore sales and ROC mining
I finally found a working Diamond route. Are there any working SLAM routes?
which route for diamonds? T&M on Cellin to a TDD?
T&M to Hurston
yea, T&M is always dependable. I've never messed with Vice because it takes so long to sell off
SC Trade might have some ideas
I tried SC Trade but every outpost only sales 20 at a time
I got scanned like once at everus and once near hur l3 when mining in .12
okie dokie, not totally shut down then
I'll continue traveling from Cellin to Hurston then.
Yeah seems to happen sooo rarely
Maybe next patch
@ember star I've not check it on a long time, but Astatine from Wela to Area18 use to be a good run
it's also much shorter, time wise, than the diamond run.
Which outpost?
Also, Scrap back from CBD to PO might make the run back a good one
I like that because PO is so easy to land on
I don't recall if it was 061, 56, etc, sorry
Scrap is a nice filler to avoid an empty trip back
That's a good idea.. Diamonds to Hurston then Scrap to PO loop
it'll add a few extra coins to the purse
I just wish it paid enough to rent a cat.
Also, if you before jumping to Hurston, if you will swing by PO and request a landing, that will anchor your ship there just incase a 30k hits you on the way
what are you running the cargo in?
MSR
ah, ok, yea, limited for the moment and not much return on the scrap
which isn't terrible
Which is fine because I work IRL while I do it
And I have the fastest s2 drive
Maybe 10 minutes per run plus some time at Hurston to scoop some fuel
Yeah I can only imagine
When I first started using my MSR I shit my pants seeing how much it is to fill it up compared to the Connie
agreed, I kept using my MAX to save fuel and cost
Now that I scoop I dont get below 10%
good to know, the C2 is suppose to have two nice scoops, so we shall see
If you need to go AFK just land on Hurston and when you get back you'll have some fuel.
I do the same thing when I mine with the ROC in the MAX. I turn off the engines but leave the ship powered up (use the "i" key not the "u"). It never drops below 98% fuel
How long can you stay afk in your ship before the server kicks you out?
varies, I've been parked (I normally bring up my mobiglass) for about 10min with no issues. But then again a 30k might kick you also.
Trading is risky because of that. You could earn 20k or lose 80k
that's why the anchor to a station trick helps a little
keep going in like 40 minute searches with no qiantum in places i found like clusters of 8 quantum
tragic
Every time encounter Borase ... I see "ass" in the name. That stuff is trash, it breaks as bad if not the worst of any ore there is
Borass
It keeps spawning in clusters and a pair of 2
Making me think it's quantum
Wana shoot it
lite it up with the laser and watch it go boom .. just be sure to be far enough away
man I just love spending an hour trying to sell such a small amount of ore
Its just your choice. You can find tens of posts every day about how "good" is mining/hauling these days
Anyone been having trouble finding Quant recently?
I've spent 30~ minutes a few times without finding almost any Quant rocks in general and the best ones I've been finding is 10%~
that's why it is totally broken. Not worth doing that. Just sell the ore raw and maybe do ROC mining and bounties. Trade and refinery are totally broken with the refinery exploit running.
I know its broke, I'm always lurking here. That was just a small frustration outlet post
big frustration for me because this is the game play that I most enjoy. It has dragged on for multiple patches. discouraging for me
after more testing I discovered that you can use any ore type in the refinery exploit.
I just don't get it why use exploit just making servers more unstable π
seems it originated with having to use Quan and duplicate ships, now it just happens
Infinite inventory in the ship, aka known as the "infinite money" bug. You ship's inventory keeps growing
I'm pretty sure some have bot scripts that keep selling and selling on each cycle
Ah
Well hopefully thats patched soon, idc about people having infinite money, if you want to not have fun thats on you. Just annoying not being able to sell anything anywhere because its all capped
it happened to me and I had to claim my ship to kill everything
lost inventory and time
Is this bug something I could come across on accident? I've been doing lots of mining, not really trying to deal with that lol
that been fixed in 3.12.1
by accident for me, on purpose with others. I was filling my CAT with refinery jobs. I spent ALL WEEK getting her ready. On the last day, I had 4 jobs to put in the CAT but for some reason it would not work. So I took what I had to the TDD and, tada! I have the bug π¦
Negative, I wish
they only adjusted the backserver tick time for refresh. Nothing was done
I have another ship that is bugged out. So I have completely stopped all trade and refinery
The servers are getting the living dog beaten out of them
you still have to have more than one of the hauler, and both have to have random refined stuff before confirming 6 or more orders of said ore to exploit. In Hawkes original video, they said it was Quantanium that was bugged, and that you had to have that to get it to work. but the truth is, any ore will work because Quant is no the factor of the issue. Its multiple orders being confirmed before the terminal has a chance to catch up.
it has not been fixed. though it was stated it had been in the patch notes.
interesting, I hadnt tried with less than 6 orders but i bet, as long as you can get 4 orders confirmed before the terminal refreshes, it would work.
yes you could totally come by this bug by accident. In fact I would love to try one more time to see if 4 orders would work with only one hauler ... but tbh I am kinda tired of testing. so maybe another day or next week.
I had put about 15 loads in the CAT before it bugged out
finally
hit a50% quantum

and a 20% next to it
hopefully doesnt despawn and i can go fill up again
Ive noticed as long as you dont crack the deposit, it would be there should be able to find it again. If you crack it and put 30km or so distance from you and that deposit, the shards will all become inert and you wont be able to collect them.
noticed that too
found the same spot and the 20% rock was left
rest of that 50 had disappeared though unfortunantly
included a deposit of 100% that was in the purple and a 100% chunk that wasnt cracked yet
sad times
ROC bugged out after I mined nice Hadanite deposit. I must have left at least 50k behind lying on the ground π
F
@gritty jackal yea so solution to that is to have a friend or alternate account sit on the deposit. Having two accounts, two computes, will be really helpful for solo miners alike. π
Not sure if SC is worth all that though
wont be like in eve online where I have over 100 accounts, all useful and specified to function and purpose.
Do we know if cargo running is going to be viable again in 3.13?
The tea leaves say yes, the knuckle bones say no
does anybody have an argo mole that i could join for like 75% 25% to you
so I am stuck on what ship to buy. I want to do cargo / mining both of which I am hoping get fixed very soon. I am about 400k short on the cat. should I get that or something more universal? I run mostly solo so I do not know what would be better
any advice would be helpful
FreelancerMAX+Prospector / Caterpillar+Mole maybe?
so I have a prospector already and have been renting freelancer
so It depends in the end on how many refinery jobs can you run using Prospector = how much cargo space do you need.
I have few days off per week and usually how I have been doing is mining non stop on my first day off then running cargo on my second
the rental freelancer has a cargo of 66scu so I have to spend a whole day running all the refinery runs I stack up
but once cargo is fixed right, I was going to mix it up and do both mining and cargo runs
I was thinking with a cat I could stockpile on my days off then sell maybe 1 or 2 nights after work
...oh, the FreelancerMAX isnt for rent, didnt know that. It could "take" 4xProspector runs. ...cat sound like a good plan π
I figure its safer to leave in my ship than in the refinery
not sure I would encourage any game loop that has refinery. Gadget Bent
MAX is great for Prospector runs and also hauls the ROC like a boss
got my cutlass for the roc
I have three ships that wait on the ROC. The MAX is my main stay because it is super easy RORO with the extra wide ramp. I keep my cutty near by and also a Valkyrie
...when we mention Prospector here - dont forget to power down the mining head, if youΒ΄re not using it. Full A-stealth equip + Atlas QD + weapons OFF + Lancet ON=5132EM ..Lancet OFF=372EM π
I think SuperMacBrothers did a "stealth" setup for the Prospector that cut its EM signature by 75% (give take). Same video had him cracking the largest rocks in the game
wish they had a showroom floor cat
agreed, Drake what's up with that?
Where can I find out details about the different refinement processes?
let me look, it is important to be aware of that
I was looking for a chart with percentages of lost material. The High yield only loose 5%, the lower yield loose 20% right off the bat from your work.
I use the Dinyx but it takes a day and few hours, aka 1 day, 6 hours. But is cheap and keeps most of your ore. The Prometric is the same thing but fast and very expensive. The Cormack is trash.
So, when you see "moderate yield" that means it looses 20% of the load.
"High Yield" only looses 5% of the load in processing.
actually the 2 highest yield processes lose no materials. its just that everything has a base yield of 95% before station bonuses
thats from the XMLs
that's what I was looking for, thanks for posting
They changed dinyx processing cost from lowest to moderate after 3.12.1
Probably because everyone is using it
I was using it and didn't notice a yield decrease, I will have to verify that. Of course, Refinery and Trade are pretty much FUBAR, so no need to do anything until 3.13
Yeah yield is same , only processing cost changed
ah, sorry, missed that. Still very reasonable
Totally , kinda weird they changed it
who is one to understand the mind of the CIG beast?
You're right π
Does anyone have a good mineral prices chart?
For Roc mining and selling to PO that is?
The gems that mine with the ROC stay at a specific price (I believe). Also, you sell them at the stations on the moon
you can't sell them at PO or any of the orbit stations or the TDD locations
what you seek can be found here
https://space4games.com/en/games-en/star-citizen-mining/
From that page
Refining is really messed up. I would tell you (for now) just to sell the raw and also do ROC mining
yes you can sell gems to PO
I miss the diamond run from T&M to PO, that was a quick turn around and decent profit
anyone having trouble with ROCs not spawning on Ariel?
no problem with roc on ariel here 30 minutes ago before a 30k
hmm, it just keeps saying red x can't find it
will try again later
thanks π
are you on the US servers or just best?
US.. but I've also 30k'd twice in 15 minutes so I wouldn't expect anything to work at this point
np π
is there any tracking site for stability?
No
thanks again
not for minute by minute, no
"Consider visiting only well-stocked shops by using the Show stock details filters."
wut?
says this on the sc trade webpage
found it
xd
do any o the large cities really have a cap when you go to sell?
they have the largest caps and the highest refresh rate, but it is a hassle none the less
Area 18 rarely gets capped but I've seen it when an org was running multiple caterpillars
it's capped right now, can't sell laranite or agrcium except in very small batches
it seems like the quantanium refresh is like 800ish everytime. I had to sell my last 6600 today in 800 chuncks
Till the refinery exploit/bug is fixed, you'll have trouble selling your stuff
Does dumping work for getting rid of quantanium only?
yes, only quantanium
Hey guys, just came back to the game.
Figured out to drop Quantanium at the new refineries at the specific stations.
I delivered a haul into my Cutlass and flew it over to Area 18, but I can't seem to sell it.
Is there a new place to sell?
Nope, gota wait for the server tick to refresh the stock.. it goes out of stock in seconds after refresh
The TDD locations are the only places, so you have CBD in Lorville, TDD in New Babbage and the TDD in Area18
I have had some instances where my ship dumps inert materials on its own
Idk what causes it
Any guides for someone looking to get into trading?
This is the cargo and mining channel...
Trading is beyond broken in this patch , better to do something else
Unless you wanna spend An hour or two at terminals clicking, hoping to sell
Trade has some serious challenges at the moment. If you do trade, then there still exist options. There is a bug that is jamming the servers as it relates to trade.
Hopefully next month with 3.13 it will have some love and trade will be shored up. You can do trade now, but there is added risk beyond the normal risk
Ahh perfect I was in the right spot then. Thanks!
where can I rent a prospector?
@dreamy sapphire Refinery decks on any L1 or HUR L2
Bounties and the associated rep chain are the big payers in this patch
There is trade but you have to approach it like a wildcatter doing business
That doesn't sound all that fun
I haven't done much on bounties. I guess I could look into that
Being a better shot would probably help though
I'm right there with you on that
What size trade running are you thinking? CAT? MAX? Cutty?
I have some ideas you can try
Still kind of building up my stake so more like max size
Ok, it won't be big coin but it will be profit. Try diamonds from T&M on Cellin to TDD. Or astertine from Wela to Area18
Despite the crappy cockpit I find the lancer to be a pretty fun sized trader
I don't need big coin, I'm just happy to make some profit
I will try that run out
Love the MAX. Flies like a brick but great fuel economy. Also fantastic for the ROC
Hmm, I haven't tried getting the ROC in there since I heard it could be tricky sizewise. Is that not the case?
ROC is fantastic. 3.11 it was broke but ok now
You can rent one at refinery store for about 4000 aUEC or but at 172k
Buy at New Deal Lorville
I have one. I just never tried putting in the lancer since I heard the clearance was tight
You have the MAX or regular lancer?
Reg
It will fit, the rear turret doesn't block
MAX is easy peasy
Just test it and see if you like it or not
Yeah can't hurt to try it I suppose
I made 168k and 203k on two runs with the ROC the other day
You sell the gems at the outpost on the moons
The moons are mostly the good mining spots still?
Yes, the Pembroke armor set you can get for half price at the refinery stores if you don't already have one
Aberdeen and Ariel were two good moons for hadanite
Yeah picked the Pembroke up ingame recently
Are there any areas to find quantanium or is it really just driving and scanning around. Iβm fairly new to mining and have been finding mainly diamond, bexilite and etc... Any tips would be welcome π
use this
https://sc-trade.tools/mining
Ok cool, Iβll check this out thanks!
Anyone up for making some money mining? I have a Mole and willing to split profits 50/50. I have 350k+ in upgrades
Looking for just 2 more people. Message me if interested
Ok
@north oyster so trading isnt very viable right now? What about smuggling? Trading, smuggling, passenger hauling and exploration are all i want to do tbh. Combat isnt my forte. Although depending on rental price i could try mining with the prospector i guess. I like mining
I've never messed with vice. The main challenge is how fast you can off load the cargo. Good margins but small quantities. Trade isn't fully dead but cookie cutter success isn't there any longer. Likewise, I'm not a big PvE or PvP player.
I would say try renting the ROC and Cutlass Black for a day. Get the Pembroke armor also. All this can be done at the refinery store found at any of the L1 points. Try Aberdeen or Ariel. Also you sell the gems collected at the moon side outpost trade terminals
Does refined Quantanium explode?
No, entirely safe π
until someone blows you up
Are prospectors for rent somewhere?
new deal at lorville.
Hello! You can start by taking a look at this 1 min primer on how trading works in Star Citizen: https://sc-trade.tools/home#faq
There are several tools made by the community to help you buying low and selling high. I can recommend mine, https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes.
N.B.: At the moment, there is a dupe glitch that makes it so trading any refined metal/mineral is very frustrating. Other types of commodities may still work OK, but won't yield as much profit.
Feel free to play with the filters (https://bit.ly/3r5h3Ch) to find something worth running that might be available in sufficient quantities.
Well, salvage as a mechanic is not in the game yet.
good to hear.
Probably a dumb question. But I just started playing. Figured Iβd do some cargo runs for cash. I spent all day in Stanton and didnβt complete a single mission. Everyone I tried something bugged. Ship, location, game crash. Etc. is this normal?
hey everyone, I'm about to buy the caterpillar (with aUEC). Is there a better ship for cargo?
nah
I would correct it, you "just started testing SC in its current alpha state", so yes, there are bugs, so you have to learn the game within game of minimising faults of in SC.
pretty abnormal. about 9/10 missions complete for me tbh
ThereΒ΄s currently none better in terms of aUEC price vs. cargo space ratio
Ok. Thanks for replying! ^^
Standard SC experience.
Cargo is a little "bent" in the current build. It does work but not too well. Bounties are the best pay for now. After that ROC mining. There is a refinery bug that is causing trade and mining issues also.
CAT is a great ship and has a future of modular options. For now, until the Hercules C2, she is the largest trade ship in game. Trade in this patch isn't great but it does work
I have a cutlass black and an avenger titan. Will either of those work for bounties?
Well I wanted to upgrade. But need to make $$. Hence the cargo runs. But if they canβt ever work .... I guess Iβll have to do bounties
Cutlass Black is also a great carrier for the ROC. You can rent a ROC super cheap at the refinery store for about 4000 aUEC and give it a test
Roc?
Remote Ore Collector
it's a pretty fun game loop of mining
also get the Pembroke armor set there for half price
You can run small trade from Wela to Area18 doing Astatine
Iβll have to check it out. Anything is better than flying around all day for bugged mission
you'll only net about 5k, but it is a short hop
I never pay the expidite fee, I always wait, LOL
I played from 7am til 4pm .... did not complete a single cargo run
Deliveries?
Yes
I call that "running pizza"
I think those will get a nice rework soon, they need some attention
Lol I called it intergalactic instacart
My cutlass kept glitching, switched to the avenger got to my first location and the drop off icon was below the floor of shibin mining .... could drop off in container or give to npc
You use to make good coin doing deliveries. You could stack up to 10 or more from one area to another, like Crusader to Micro Tech. You could make over 100k aUEC but it would take awhile
Are you running an SSD and 16g of RAM?
Ryzen 5 3600, Asus x570 plus mobo, gtx2060, 32g ram, 1 tb nvme m.2
Yeah itβs not a pc issue lol
rgr, much nicer than mine
your Internet healthy?
The icon below the building has been around for far too long also.
If you cutty can spawn properly, then you can run some small trades that might be worth your time
OR you can look at renting a ROC. But don't do that until you can buy the Pembroke armor
Look up some videos on mining with the ROC before trying it. It is simple to grasp but does have some aspects that could throw you
With the ROC, I did two runs and made 168K and 203K just a couple of days ago
You look for hadanite and you sell the gems at the outpost stations on the moons you are mining
I'd suggest trying Aberdeen and Arial for mining with the ROC
One trick I will share, it takes about an extra 3 minutes to arrive but you will never be griefed by players or ever be in the dark when trying to mine.
Which ever planet you are mining, QT to Orbital Marker 1 (OM-1)
Drop to the planet surface from there. That is the north axis of the planet and it never gets dark there.
How's the cargo trading this patch? Is it possible yet to find enough supplies like agricium to fill a cat?
depends how patient you are
The problem mostly lies with the selling part: there's a dupe glitch with all the minables. Any metal/alloy/mineral is very arduous to sell at the moment.
Oh weird now that's the exact opposite problem it used to have lmao. Well that's to bad haha
Well, agricium is also produced in incredibly small quantities: you cannot fill a cat with it in one shot, ever https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Agricium (max inventory is 180scu, produced at 0.8 scu per tick)
Ah damn. I miss the days of filling a cat with agricium and selling it over and over haha. Guess I'll need to find a better way to make some money
You can always give a try to https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes with a refresh rate filter (https://i.imgur.com/3XNgXCy.png)
Some things are produced in high-volumes, but it's not the best stuff π
Agricium and laranite are trash, do not trade in anything above, say, diamonds. Even then, selling might be an issue
haha true, I think imma wait on cargo maybe do bounty hunting till then
I did a small run to TDD in Area18, took two days to sell of the agricium and laranite I had
lmao
yeah I was sitting on a max full of laranite for a week trying several places
even is someone has the infinite cargo bug, it doesn't matter because you could have 17Billion worth of Agricium or laranite but can only sell 20k per cycle.
wouldn't be the first time someone was bored enough to use an autoclicker
I don't even know what that is, LOL
a program that automates clicking
ofc against ToS, but that hasn't stopped people using them.
Wait...
Autoclickers are against TOS?
Are you kidding me?
Use or distribute βautoβ software programs, βmacroβ software programs or other βcheat utilityβ software program or applications.

That is such a silly rule.
There's no way they'll never enforce it, ahahah.
banned in pretty much every online game
hey guys where is a good spot to mine these days with a prospector?
@visual karma surface or asteroid mining?
Less chance of getting disturbed mining asteroids and often more profitable/purer deposits, but little more planning involved
Either is fine to me. Nearby a refinery would be nice
I like Ita and Magda for surface mining. Less crowded and has tara and bex so you won't be fighting with the traders to sell lara and agri. Asteroids is where the money is, but you need patience and the right equipment setup with consumables
where would a good place to ROC mine these days too?
I like Aberdeen for Hadanite
I would recommend QT to OM-1 then dropping to the surface. It is always daylight there
I've never played an online game where everyone didn't use autoclickers or macros at one point or another.
A lot of games I used to play almost require an autoclicker to avoid permanent nerve damage.
Is there a way in-game to find our what a station/outpost is buying before flying there with the goods?
Guys what is the best way to earn money with a Nomad? It's been ages since I last played and don't know how the game grown in terms of money making
Bounties and monitor missions are the only profitable ventures with a Nomad at the moment.
I suppose you can also do some ROC mining.
But the combat is better.
thanks for the heads up
Does the ROC still give 200k per haderite tank full?
I am dealing with an unusual situation of sorts - after having picked up 300k worth of medical supplies, there is simply no location to offload at all. MICL1 purchasing only 1k credits worth of cargo made sense, as did other R&R stations, but Microtech, Hurston, ArcCorp... literally every location is buying only 1k credits worth of cargo maximum?
Is there literally no location that accepts more than 1k credits worth of medical cargo?
not really. I'm afraid you bought all that for nothing but a slow sell
That's all of refinery selling at the moment. With the infinite cargo bug, you have users tapping out the TDDs as soon as they cycle. It took me two days to sell just a few SCU of agricium and laranite.
Yes, I think I sold at 203K for 799 gems
Phew, thanks.
Try SC trade tools and see what they are suggesting. Right now the state of trade is about FUBAR. It took me days to sell just a few refinery jobs, so selling vice or med supplies might be a lesson in patience and exploration.
SC trade tools is what suggested the route :c
is trading dead? or still workable?
I would call trading "very challenged" in this patch. That will include refining in the mining game loop @kindred merlin
My apologies. You may have to make the rounds to all places that have record of buying
I'm willing to bet the route was outlined in yellow π
I tried to make those as obvious as possible, but yellow trade routes usually involve wait times to buy/sell. As a tip, next time, you can try adding a filter to only deal in commodities more susceptible to be bought/sold all at once (https://i.imgur.com/3XNgXCy.png).
I personally usually go with a refresh rate of about ΒΌ-Β½ my ship's total cargo.
Looks like I will be selling the medical supplies at Lorville.
Now, I am suspicious that the SC trade tools are not being honest, as the routes calculated for valuable metals says there are no wait times at all.
At a full hold value of nine hundred thousand, which is exactly the same figure that out me in this medical supplies situation...
Area18 buys the most actually: https://sc-trade.tools/best-buyer?q=%257B%2522itemName%2522:%2522Medical%2520Supplies%2522,%2522itemQuantity%2522:15000%257D
Area18 it is then...
I am happy they removed those flight path tunnels...
It makes landing easier.
As for the prices, the tools uses the data found in the games files, which are the "base prices". As such, it will always be the most optimistic profit possible (https://sc-trade.tools/home#faq).
I'm working on something to simulate player activity, but it's not so simple π
It is mainly an issue of repeating the moonshine debacle - it is a struggle to offload a Caterpillar hold.
You can always hover over the aggregate prices in the trades presented to see if they differ from what you see in-game. Then you can make the call if it's worth it or not!
I just need places to dump cargo without taking a loss :c
True. Hopefully 3.13 brings some QOL for trading!
Even at a partial hold, 300k hurts
I went into this to earn 200k, and instead I risk losing 300k :c
Thatβs trading currently.
Waste of time.
And money.
Itβs getting worked on in 3.13 though.
^ just better to do bounties for cash currently imo
Wait what, trading is a thing, I thought all we had were those painful package contracts
how many completed mining jobs can I stack up? Like if I wanted to load a full Caterpillar, could I?
@rustic shoal yes cargo hauling is a thing.
but it's often risky due to bugs, more investment up front
So how does one do this, just buy a bunch of stuff at one place and sell it somewhere else?
I will, thank you
Make sure to read the 1-minute primer on trading π
https://sc-trade.tools/home#faq
I see, thank you
with all anticipated profit will come the risk of loosing it all. Until proper infrastructure is established, that is the nature of trading in SC. I've lost millions on a run. When you trade, it is not a matter of "if" but rather a matter of "when" you will loose it.
This current issue is even more tedious though, since it's impossible to trade 90% of the commodities in the game.
Yikes π¦
hauling used to be one of my fav passtimes in the game, haven't bothered since december or so
isnt it fun to buy laranite for 1 million just to be able to sell it for 1 000 100
Yes π
Pretty much every ore/metal sells for base price because of the refinery glitch π¦
Is the Orion available this patch?
@winged island No, itβs not on the map for this year
Thanks a lot. @lofty sluice
Any suggestions for finding ROC minables? I know to go low and slow, using 50% pings. Any other recommendations?
@hoary monolith Are you talking what planet/moon? Or just finding them?
finding then once I"m on the surface
aberdeen in a ROC
how much could I make on a fully loaded prospector?
depends on the cargo. quantanium is high risk/high reward. other cargos are safer but lower profit
all prospector mining is bad right now due to refinery/trade being messed up
https://sc-trade.tools will give values for you
ROC mineables should be plentiful on aberdeen
when you get something like the caterpillar or the hull E, do you get special hauling contracts or do you just stack the 8000 aUEC cargo contracts
Right now there are no special bulk-delivery missions. Haulers buy commodities with their own funds and try to sell them for a profit elsewhere.
sell them to NPCs?
I'm looking forward to bulk delivery missions
cuz i watched a few vids about people hauling 100k
and how do you know the selling price of commodities at certain locations?
With the supply/demand economy we have right now, it's not possible to know for sure how much you'll make. That being said, online fan-made tools like mine, https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes, can give you an estimate.
N.B. Trade is kind of broken in this patch, because of a refinery bug.
Cutless Black or FreeLancer?
alr thanks again for the info
what materials are to be avoided because of that bug? any type of metal or mineral?
- Metal
- Mineral
You're usually left with either scrap, vices or some of the gases.
right
and what kind of outposts are suitable for specific sizes of cargo ship in terms of supply and demand?
I assume some places would be okay in a small ship but no good for a medium or large
Correct, but it also depends on the commodity, even within the same outpost.
That's why I added an inventory filter (https://i.imgur.com/3XNgXCy.png) π
I personally usually use ΒΌ-Β½ of my ships cargo capacity (100 units = 1 SCU) to be sure to only trade in available goods.
So in a cutlass, which can take-in 4600 units of cargo, I might set that filter to 2000-2500 to make sure that the goods I'm trying to get will be there.
Not a guarantee, but it will increase your chances.
okay
I'm not expecting to make megabucks or anything but it sounds like a good excuse to fly around and see some different locations
it would be nice not to lose money on purpose, bugs aside
You technically cannot lose money, as the lowest buy price is set to the highest sell price. But you might break awfully close. And then there's fuel costs.
does anyone have a youtube vid of scanning for minables for the ROC in a Cutlass? I'm having trouble finding them and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if its normal to spend a lot of time looking.
The vids I've found tend to scip the scanning step or don't show the amount of time spent really looking
You fly around sending pings with your cutlass and look for rocks having a "diamond" HUD symbol
Usually the detection boxes appear smaller than larger ship size rocks
what altitude/speed/ping strength? I've been cruising at ground level going under 30 mps and pinging at 50%
All I find are the boulders
On arial it should be fine between like 500-1500 altitude, I usually run the ping to max
about how long does it take you to find a rock to mine?
I searched for about 45 minutes earlier today and didnt find any - just got my ROC last night
Usually it shouldnt take more than a few mins to find a deposit, but you'll want something like 3-4 rocks in a group at least to make it a worthwhile stop imo
I went that long with only finding boulders. I might need to get a little more altitude
I was flying at tree-top level
roc mining in a group sounds fun because you could have one person looking for the next set of rocks while a couple of people mine with rocs and then fly to where the scout found the next lot
Done that a few times in party
My eventual goal is for my player two to scout rocks and fly defense for me to mine
I know trade runs aren't exactly working well right now, but looking ahead at ship purchases, for a medium-sized cargo hauler what do people think between the MSR and FL Max?
but she needs to learn how to play first π
I only bought a roc ingame recently myself
One guy flies arrow or other fast agile scout looking for stones, and also double as bonus anti-griefing escort
yeah ideally both your scout and your ROC hauler are decent in a fight in case some griefer shows up
and you have dedicated pilots for both so they're combat ready while the ROCs are crackin rocks
MSR will cost you more profit in maintenance, but as it currently stands its a much faster and better handling ship
more profit in maintenance? You mean fuel costs?
Yeah, also repair/claiming fees if needed
hmm, I guess it'll also come down to the creds cost in game, if it's 2x the cost of the FL Max then I'll just get the max
Firepower is lackluster if you fly it solo too
But its also quick enough that you probably can make a run for it
I swear ship classifications are weird sometimes
FL Max is listed as "Heavy Freight" and the Drake Caterpillar is listed as "Medium Freight" π
... are these numbers right?! the Mass and Hydrogen/QT fuel numbers seem extremely high on the MSR comparitively.
and the mass too, according to those numbers the MSR is 3x the mass of a connie?!
Yes its fatter and has extremely powerful thrust for its size
the hydrogen number is because CIG didn't want to spend the time adjusting its consumption rate/intake rate
3x the mass and 7x the thrustor power iirc
Are you able to give hadanite/dolvine mined a roc which u stored in a crete from the rock to other players to sell? I know with "stolen cargo" you use to be able to go to Hex, even tho its not stolen, it shows up at mining out posts on the friends ship, but no options under sell - ship doesnt appear to have cargo. Was wondering if they went to Hex could they sell it there?
They 30k'd on route and lost the cargo so couldnt test yet
Ive had someone steal my roc before and sell the cargo in 3.11, left door on rock open outside after getting blown up in my ship
the ROC has cargo access at the back, any player can open it and take ore from it
Agreed, Let the other player access it from the ROC, then there isn't an ownership issue
I wish I could add people from my org/friends list to my ships, so they can use them/sell ore/refine/transport on my behalf. Would be awesome to then allot a commission based on goods sold/bounties completed.
That way my friends/org could use my mole/cata, I'd get my share and they'd get their share, without any ownership issues
is there noticeble difference in where to haul refined ore? Loreville, NB, A18? In terms of price and ease of selling (shop stock not full)
@crimson mantle I was able to offload those medical supplies at Arccorp (with a considerable profit too). Many thanks for the tip.
All the prices are the same, if the stock levels are the same (but they usually aren't).
The places with the highest refresh rates (marked +X/min) will be the most profitable.
Area18 (https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Quantainium) is a good spot usually, but make sure to check the inventories for the specific ores you're trying to sell.
Yes I know that, but this crete was already removed from the Roc and was sitting on my ship cargo floor, Both him and I tried to take it and put it on his ship in cargo area and it would not allow him to sell it, but it would show up under buy. Not under sell.
did you try selling it in the city or at a mining outpost?
so I was asking if he took it to hex, Does hex still take "stolen" or
"illegal" cargo. Maybe it had nothing to do with that, but he didnt take the cargo out of my rock, he took a crete I had already taken out of a rock
mining out post
was it in the ship that was on the pad ?
it would show for me in sell, but soon as either 1 of us removed it from my ship to his, it wouldnt let him select it under sell no ship appeared there but in the buy tab the ship showed it had the hadanite
yea he was on 1 pad I was on the other
He was on the larger pad, I was on the smaller 1
i dunno then, perhaps it was still bound to the original person who made the box
Im thinking that was it, because its technically my "storage", or it became stolen cargo but it would say that on the panel and it didnt.
I will have to try getting him to remove the cargo next time xD I just happened to have 2 cretes was testing how giving them worked. I guess u cant at that point.
also good to know someone cant steal it once u take it out of roc
Grim HEX will accept "stolen" ROC minables.
Mkay so in other words if the player I want to have the roc cargo doesnt tske it out of the roc themselves its stuck to my inventory so to speak
What is the most you can make per hour mining with the ROC? Can it even come close to mining quantanium?
Hasnt been as nice as 3.11 but 60 mins i got 2 1/2 loads
If you'll be effective and lucky, you can mine a full ROC, 220k
Average I would say 180k/hr. But still, if yoy effective
Are any planets especially good for mining with the ROC? Or are they all about the same?
aberdeen , put hadanite in your Pembroke + ROC and it's around 250k per hour
Arial is next and much smoother
Arial is smoother? what am i reading
And you can remove ore from ROC. In case you already full, but there are nice cluster with 9 rocks
arial is known for its little spikes everywhere
They differ widely: https://sc-trade.tools/mining?q=%257B%2522depositType%2522:%2522Greycat%2520ROC%2522,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%2522Dolivine%2522%255D%257D
Those are the best places if you don't care for terrain nor Dolivine (https://sc-trade.tools/ores/Greycat ROC)
SO I guess i'll have to test some things with group Roc mining this weekend when I go out, The plan was to take 1 ship capable of carrying up to 4 or more Rocs and go out mining, storing the Rocs cargo on ship and splitting later,
But if it has to be the player who is going to sell the material who has to remove it from the ROC, not sure how it will work with storing it on 1 ship even temporarily before moving it to another. If the person who remove the cargo can still sell after its been put on another owners ship.
trade terminals see each ROC as their own distinct inventory evne when it's parked inside another person's ship right?
I mean, for simplicity's sake you can have the owner sell all the ore and then just transfer creds out
but if everyone brings their own ROC onto your ship I think that works?
wait, I must be wrong otherwise selling stolen ROC's cargo wouldn't work, nevermind
Yea I know I could just give them the money, but I figured it be more fun stacking cretes up, and also allow us to keep going instead of having to sell once all rocs are full. Mind you, if we even got that far... Might just take long enough to fill all 4.
yeah just filling one ROC usually takes me a couple of hours
I was able to get a couple boxes in like 90 mins
and often I sell before it's full to avoid 30ks either
ah ok so they keep their inventory after a 30k? is that before you claim?
yea, so what u do is go back to where u had called it
9/10x u can retrieve that ROC
however do NOT look inside the roc cargo hold and DO NOT get in it.
just go straight to the storage sell panel and u should be able to sell it
if u get in or check the cargo it will bug as empty and the cargo is lost
Claiming is an Instant loss too of course XD
ok so you specifically need the "retrieve" option at whatever station, retrieve it, then immediately sell cargo before interacting with it
exactly
weird, but good to know, thanks
it will often say its on that moon/planet when u go to claim/retrieve it.
and u can even call it from another outpost on that same moon, but best result is return to where it was u had been.
but its location could say "unknown" as long as ur on that moon/planet specificially the outpost u had used before 30k, u can usually get the Retrieve and it will spawn for you.
If you could call say a cutty to outposts, u could save ur 30k'd Cargo also, my ship is often there when I claim also but because its "too big" you can't retrieve it.
the same applies to Prospectors/cargo runns if u get close enough to a station pad, that can retrieve ships, so long as you have been assigned a pad, u can retrieve that ship/cargo and sell. Same rules apply. Do not interact with the ship before u sell.
The rate of filling a ROC is really a random thing. I have filled the ROC on two stops and pulled about 203K from those two stops. Then next time I spend about 30 minutes finding nothing.
yes, but not impressive
Does smuggling help?
that small you might want to look at VICE
You can explore the most optimistic scenarios here: https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes
that's actually pretty nice for such a small run. I have run 120 SCU and not made that much before. Remember that vice sells off slowly also
If i get into smuggling how do i avoid getting scaned/busted in general
9k profit on SLAM?
druqs
if going to the darkside, be sure to stake out your process. Check YT for advice
Especially since you just told anyone reading this channel you're about to go buy some SLAM, not likely they're on your server but y'know
315p is a nice little ship, good ride
315 is perfect for drugs
agreed
I dont even have the game
Hehe
"yet"?
Yes
:thonk:
I would look at a different starter ship, to be honest
Why?
That's when I started playing last year
Even though the 315p is a great little ship, she is far too limited (imo) depending upon your budget, I would go Titan as a min or Cutlass Black for best results
but the 315 will do bounties great, so maybe good considering
Some have gone with the Nomad, but I'd suggest going to the cutty if going that far
1200 units is 12scu
Yes
Ye
but it is all UEC
I just put vice and 315p
If you're planning on getting the game, make sure to use a referral code from your friends/favourite community member/random person π
I did
agreed, that's provide extra aUEC
I have an acc already
or UEC rather
π
yea, can log in and wonder around but won't have a ship
If you fill-up a 315p with SLAM, you can profit 72k (in the best case)
Bruhhhhhh
Takes 144k of investment
Welp, some one here is going to grind when he gets his game and 315p
^^^?
Combat missions and bounties are good way to make cash, they've just been buffed and are fairly fun.
The 315p can take on quite a bit
Start with what you have, bet half the funds. Do a run and repeat process
And its a bit more than the titan if im not wrong
Bounties are meta atm, this patch is totally spilt to that side
Yes, the titan has 8SCU of cargo (800 units)
?
I realized that after I typed my suggestion
I was going on cost vs features
Well, players usually won't care if you carry drugs, until you've got a bounty on your head.
Oh fair enough, the titan is great.
Love the 300 series, I own a 325a ... she's a dream
And you'll most likely run from the police when they stop to scan you anyway π
better to get a fine for not stopping for the police than the police scan your drugs
True
