I think about trying savalging for the first time. Any good ship I can rent to try it out? In best case rentable in Stanton
Also I have some questions:
- Where do I sell the collected materials?
- Where do I sell the components from the ship I build out (Shield generator,...)
- Can I use the components for my ships?
- How do I get inside the ship? The doors are locked. I cant find a way to get in or even when inside, there are still locked doors
anyone else just not getting hauling contracts appear at all in their warehouses?
- try using !tradetools or uexcorp.space
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
- before 4.8 components had a very low sellling price, probably due to duping. I wonder if they changed anything about that.
it was absolutely worthless to haul low-grade components to sell them.
you can sell grade-A military and stealth components to players - you can use components looted from NPC ships for your ships, yes.
but don't bother with players' components, those are gonna get bricked when they claim the ship - you can shoot your way into ship. I think due to the armor it got trickier
you can try carefully shooting with you ship just the door/ranp to crack open the ship
and the ships are:
- simplest starter Salvation

Tyvm! :)
I'm about to try jumping in ICA from Stanton to Nyx.
question. How doomed is my cargo?
Gl m8
u need it
flip a coin and find out
yup, it's gone

Today I also lost 2h of my time because of these cargo bugs
Never doing interstellar again until its fixed xd
I don't have issues with interstellar in any other ship.
though tbh I'm using a workaround.
always open the gate, then switch to SCM, wait for gate to close and open it again, only then jump.
guaranteed delivery to the other side (well if you don't hit every wormhole strut/tentacle on your way)
Hello, I am doing the Asagio salvage contracts with 2 Alts and my strategy is to do the deliver RMC only ones which includes a full log off/on to get that mission to pop up again. Otherwise it gets to complicated dragging along CM and CS. At the Senior level I have seen bigger Herc's to loot for 1 to 3 million in mixed cargo. God knows how long that will take.
Tbf I dont have issues with jumping but with the elevators
understandable, elevator is a final boss in this game. sometimes
im cursed, not enough people mine in this game and i keep running into rocks like this lmfao
Often when I do Cargo and I need to land on outposts there are multiple ships blocking my way. They are left there and nobody cares what I do with them. Could I also, in theory, salvage them?
Would be money AND I would do something good for the cargo ppl
Where can I find hadenite? I've been looking for hours
Caves
Much, much easier to fly along the surface of a planet/moon and scan for patches of it
Every cave I've gone into recently has been the new style of cave, where there's only like 5 hand-mineable nodes in the whole cave
But where. Everyone tells me Aberdeen. All I find is dolavine, and aphorite.
Gotta bring an ATLS GEO into the cave and use it's scanner.
Should be literally any planet/moon
Its not though. They changed it
Hand mineables are still ubiquitous in my experience, but you can always click on planets in the starmap to see what mineables they have
Holy shit, I never knew about that.... thank you!
you can find hadanite on any planet in caves for the most part, but if you want to find it super easy, and in much greater quantity, youll need to find the clusters on the surface
and only certain planets have it as a surface mineable
if youre just targeting roc/fps mineables for the time being, best thing to do is get a ship that can fit a few scu boxes and an atls geo
Thank you! However I think its bugged or something. Been to all the places (except caves) that say surface hadenite, and not a single rock. Been scanning for the past 3 hours, and nothing.
sometimes its just a hit or miss kinda thing
its the lowest chance surface mineable out of the 3 basic ones
Much is this whole game
Either way, ill go try a cave now. Thank you guys for the help!
Good luck
ill put it to you this way, i put tons and tons and tons of time in sand caves trying to find janalite when it was added into the game
i have found 1000q gems dime on the dollar and have yet to ever find janalite
The new style of caves spawn barely any nodes, its really annoying
some of the new ones are freaking massive too
Are there bigger fuel pods that I can put on the Starfarer Gemini or is stock the largest
any recomaendations on good mining spots ?
depends on what u are looking for , ores are location dependant
aye
I am a very experienced miner but haven't mined in past 6 months so just wonder where a good place to start, while hand mining I noticed there seem to be less ore on planets, that could be cope but idk
So idk if planet or Astriod is the play
stock the largest.
you can remove them, if you plan to use the Gemini for Cargo only, used to be the only use for the Gemini.
my fav spot is the one at the very bottom of the crusader orbit rings
Is there a better way to get through experienced for Covalex?
I've done maybe 10-12 large direct missions and maybe only just passed a quarter way through. Feels like progression slowed way down and you make way less money than you are when you did the member missions.
There are bigger ones. They go up to 32 SCU
Whats ships could I salvage to get S2 competition grade components? Haven't found any yet.
It's the ica actually with keeping? The more I think about it and the more videos I see it seems that all of the doors you put into it are needed for salvaging or mining to facilitate it's repair/rearm and maybe you can fit a fighter or 2 in it. It's looking like a less convenient small hangar that can despawns
Is it possible to get an interstellar haul from stanton to nyx?
I've only seen stanton to pyro and i've abandoned like 20 missions
just buy them to complete the mission.
You'd need a starlancer max, but good luck, I don't think those spawn in salvage missions
Max gets you the coolers and power plants, I'm not aware of any salvage source for the shields
yeah, I think you do have to just buy them
Unfortunately the grind once you hit experienced is hard going, you can try sticking to local jobs if available but it's a hard slog, just wait for senior where the missions take 1hr and you need to do 50 of them
And the Pyro grind is 4x as bad, the reputation is 100% less and the missions take even longer due to QT distances
What level of money are making per contract at the senior level?
I assume it's 300-400k range at least right?
It takes me about an hour just to go through one contract at experienced and I'm barely scraping by 250k an hour doing these haha. It's very hard to justify the time spent for money gain. If it's higher for the same work on senior I'd wager it's worth the grind for me.
It's hard to do all these when I was making 2.7mil an hour just the other day before salvaging was nerfed lol.
2.7 is just unfortunately not realistic though. That's 6 hours for a late game ship, or 30 hours for an endgame ship. That's way too fast. Even being able to make 1.6mil an hour like I am currently is just too much and needs to be nerfed
I mean, I'm all for drawn out life sim like gameplay in a 1.0 environment where issues don't exist and it can take months before you get any kind of 'endgame' ship. But It's a bit rough right now when for one hour of money you earn is usually accompanied by an extra hour or two of gallivanting around because the game is so broken and things don't work.
I can understand "testing speeds" being drastically increased, but it sets people up for failure, because they get used to that fast pace and throw a temper tantrum when it gets lowered to where it should be, which is like 1/10th of where it is even now
They have to balance for what the game is supposed to be though, and then test that balance. You can't just turn everything up to 11 because "it's an alpha", and then at 1.0 turn it all to the right numbers and have them be right.
I don't disagree with that, it makes sense.
Realistically, starter missions should be paying around 5-7k not 25-50k, and then scale from there. I get people will gripe, but it's that or increase the price of everything by more than 10x
Yeah that's the ballpark, it's way higher in Pyro, like Member rank already have 745k contracts
I thought covalex was only in Stanton? I might move back to Pyro to start grinding that instead.
Yeah Pyro is Redwind, you need to complete the 'first haul in Pyro' for CFP then if you've unlocked Red Wind they'll show up, Jnr is a grind as they are all from settlements but Member onwards are solar so other than long QT they're chill
For Stanton the grind is for the end goal, TS-2 and XL-1 BPs from master ranks. I was master on both pre wipe so it hurts lol
I'm always down for this way of gameplay. I'm more of a two things can be true is just what I mean. Not really putting any of this out to cry for change. Of course it sucks I'm not making a quarter of what I used to for the same hours put in.
My ideal gameplay for star citizen was always long drawn out contracts you'd spend days in one ship between multiple systems. Always liked the idea of the long haul interstellar missions just.. longer time put into the travel aspect. This idea would require way more systems though unfortunately lol.
It's not hard for me to go around Pyro and Stanton in a Ironclad in one go without needing to stop
Yeah... Pyro needs to go back to its original size, and the solar flare needs to come back
@raven oracle I hear ya, I once stacked multiple passenger missions in ED to SagA and Colonia and done them over 3 weeks
I've never played ED but yeah that type of gameplay sounds like it would be fun for SC. I'm dying to get that level of needing to plan out and stock up a ship with meaningful stuff to go venture out on a long multiple day/week long contract of hauling with minimal stops. Especially if it's with a crew.
That sounds like fun
Was Pyro supposed to be even bigger?
Heck yeah, let me travel across a galaxy, or multiple galaxies
yeah, by a factor of 3
it was supposed to be like 240GM across
not 60
Damnn what the hell. It's already a pain in the ass to get from one end to the other. That's kind of sad though I would have preferred that original size.
Hopefully they get around to those sizes in new systems in the future.
Is there any news about more systems?
a bunch of people griped that travel was impossible in their precious meta light fighters, so CIG compressed the system and took out the solar flares
The stations in Pyro were also supposed to have like no fuel
making starferers a thing
they nerfed that too
It was more about starter ships though, maybe they shouldn't have let people start in Pyro
But I can tell you 40mins in QT is not fun
Which is what it was pre reduction
It'd be fine if we had stuff to do in our ships during that time and didn't fall out of our ships in qt though lol
It wouldn't be bad if there was actual stuff to do on the ship. I'd be ok with long QTs if it gave me a chance to actually go around my ship and prepare things or do maintenance mini games or make food in the kitchens etc..
yeah this exactly
Dude, stocking up boxes of ingredients at each stop, cooking up food, prepping for combat with food buffs, crafting ammo, etc
I'm always disapointed I don't have anything to do in my ships lol. Cool crew quarters with kitchens, a whole small repair bay that can hold vehicles and a whole engine room I assume requires constant check ins and I just get to sit in the pilot seat and stare at space right now.
Always sold on the ideas of what can be in this game but hopeful we will ever reach that point
ugh, yeah... I really hope the t0 of this stuff is coming soon. It doesn't have to be perfect, just show me it's being worked on
Running short on one material to repair a vehicle or some ingredient for food and now you gotta make a pit stop at some sketchy station in the middle of nowhere in a system you've never explored. One can wish.
That'd be great, yeah. Like, give me a reason to plan my trip as more than, 10 minute youtube video breaks
Maybe the station doesn't have it but a local planet has stuff you can make out of whats there. So now your 3 day trip turned into a 5 day trip because you spent two days landed on some planet stocking up on it's wildlife. Shit like that is what I like.
Yeah literally lol, as soon as I hit QT it's alt tabbed going on youtube or stepping away to do something else haha.
Yeah, as it stands, the longest part of my playtime is either loading, unloading, or flying... Granted, I mostly do cargo, but even when I do salvage, I spend 10x the amount of time chucking boxes than I do salvaging for those boxes
Yeah almost all my gameplay right now is just hauling between arccorp and hurston. It's quite dull but that's the grind.
I actually think the most fun I had with hauling is those member contracts
stacking up 10 contracts making about a mil and hour and I had to actually track each destinations cargo while going to 4 different locations. That was kind of a fun use out of my hour lol.
I keep switching between hauling commodities, refueling, and combat contracts. I start falling asleep in all of it after a couple of hours though
I'd bother with mining, but it's busted right now
I'm too scared to try commodities ngl.. Mostly out of I don't know any good routes but I just don't like the idea of risking 4-5mil+ for say 500k of profit when so many things can go wrong.
Salvage is a pain in the arse with the extra empty boxes everywhere
Ahh, I'm pulling about 1.6mil an hour with 4mil capital
That sounds more of a proper risk ratio to me. I'd risk that for that level of profit.
took a little while to build up to that, but now it runs like butter on a hot pan
Yeah I gotta build back up all my early earnings. I gave away 10mil to a friend so they could buy the C2 and I'm barely back up to about a 1.3mil after doing those haul contracts for a couple days.
oof. Yeah, I haven't even hit 10 mil yet, but I also have only played about 6 hours this patch so far
Thinking about the money earning yeah the salvage stuff was totally busted haha.
I got to like 16mil when they nerfed it
I didn't even go very hard on it I was just doing it here and there over a few days
Bought a FC7-S and than gave the rest away haha
I abandon Prowler missions, I've only gotten 1 to dock
Cutters I can usually get now by tapping S right as they hit the boom, sometimes you need to retract the refueling boom and retry the docking process if you miss
the rest of the ships work fine but sometimes they get a little confused, all of these should be fixable by retracting the boom and retrying
alt thank you!
Cutters are a headache though its not easy, it took me a while
thanks to you made 20 mill in a day so far, if you havet told me about o=it other day , i woul have been completely oblivious
yeah
do you do 1 1. mill plus normal one , or just 1.8 mill ones
I take the 1.8m mission and both 457k ares missions, depending on which ships you get on the 1.8m mission, you can either complete 1 or both of the ares
just depends on how much fuel you have left
got it but all i got inthe fleets were always having an ares
yea the fleets will always have 1 ares, the other 2 ships are random
started using the most expensiv eones
a tad bit faster , and only looses like 10 scu all together
Are hauling contracts reputation locked if shared? (ex. can I share a master covalex contract with a rookie?)
you can share any job, if the game is working
Is the golem any good? I wanna craft weapons and sell them for a price, but i need a mining ship
yup, very, can do same as Prospector, only diff is the size.
Bet ty!
You can share missions, but there's a chance it'll fuck up the mission progression chain of the lower tier person
Golem is actually slightly 'weaker' than the Prospector, but it's more user friendly. An ideal setup on each yields a max of around 41k cracks on a Golem, and 48k cracks on a Prospector
whats a good route for cargo hauling missions? Ive been running between bajini and area 18 for a bit now and Its been very good to me so far
if youre doing missions, theres not like an objectively "good" route because its dependent on what you have in the mission list
what i would focus on instead is stacking missions where you can
get as many missions as you can from a single initial pickup location as you can, load them all up at once, and head to either the closest delivery location or the location that you have either the most missions or most cargo to deliver at
drop off the cargo, take a peak in the mission list again, and see if there are missions in the list for that drop off location as a new pickup location for a drop off point you have on your list of places to still go to
Anyone know a fix for unrefinable and unsellable Torite in a MOLE bag?
Whats an ideal setup for the Prospector?
How are ppl finding 900+ quality ore? I've searched for hours and everything in stanton and pyro is capped at 710-742 for me
dumb luck honestly
ok thanks, weird because in 4.7 I had plenty 900+
but now it's like there is a 742 hard cap (I've found higher in nyx)
theres not really a way to determine quality from radar pings and stuff as far as i know
so although we can use it to kinda filter for size/material, we cant really do much for qual
so it really just boils down to being able to mine what you come across
I've literally spent 4 hours today scanning rocks. Aside from hand minables, there is just nothing above 742 (I've had 975 aphorite)
just gotta keep going at it
not a whole lot of people are sinking a lot of time into mining rn either
that's the problem with RNG, you can roll a dice 10 times and get 1 every time
i spent 3 hours one night trying to get surface level hadanite on a planet so i didnt have to go through 50m caves
i have found tons of 1000q gems before i have ever found janalite ( i still havent btw, and i farm sand caves and surface deposits like a mfer )
like right now, im just screwing around, 858 deposit of larinite
i had to give up on these 2 rocks earlier because we couldnt get enough people who wanted to mine in global
sometimes mining just forces you to take the L (and holy crap does the mining ui need a change on the mole)
What are good items to keep on my person/backpack for solo mining and stuff?
are the hauling mission crates still contract locked?
yup.
is there any information about a planned or possible change/fix?
reason why they are lock is to prevent players to steal and sell those crates
they should NOT do that
therefore, the crates lock on contracts is mean to stay.
mmmhhh
the most annoying part of cargo missions rn is having multiple contracts worth of tin, and having no way of seeing which station is to get which boxes until you load them onto an elevator
like add a little tractor flair text "Deliver to X location"
not make me stuff 8 scu boxes into a cargo elevator until the right comination of boxes gives me a green 5/5 display when ive stuck 12 boxes in there
Been having issues with my Vulture. When I have RCM and Construction rubble in the hold I cant see the percentage of each like 4.5 of one and 7.62 of another for instance. I have a distint idea I could. Also in the crafiting I used to be able to craft multitools and small assortments, not anymore
are all of the member rank hauling missions multi-step? what is the best tier of mission to stack? feels like taking anything more* than a medium one point drop off mission is a waste of time and inefficient
you can put the 16scu drake bags on the prospector right? what does the mole have over the prospector in that case for solo mining?
use the lesser ones to fill in gaps in your cargo while running the medium contracts
ships like the hull b can take 4 medium missions usually
im running the raft and honestly i kind of hate it, regret renting it for a full week
then you can take the smaller contracts to fill in the remaining space
can do the same thing with a raft to some degree
not as much cause it only has like 192 scu of cargo if mem is correct
i've already made my rental money back but it feels like it's such a chore to get in and out of, and the capacity doesn't seem as good, yeah 192
for some missions thats like a single medium contract and a couple of small ones
the 8 scu boxes are what catches the raft up in this instance
are medium missions optimal because of the quicker loading time from the big boxes?
oh yeah read my mind
i mean, in one line of thinking, yes
you arent having to move as many boxes compared to stacking smaller contracts
yeah, i just did 10 missions going from everus to farnswell then back and it was all smalls and i kind of regret taking all that time
all of these junior and member rank missions seem like enormous time sinks? pick up at everus and then drop off at like 3 different spots, there's no way i'm going to keep it all straight in my head if i did more than one of those at once
i could loan you my hull-b or summ in game if you wanted
For stacking multi drop off missions you ideally need a ship with "compartments", so you can sort while loading instead of unloading.
But generally, if you are after money and not reputation they are not worth the time.
Either that or a nice lot of extra cargo space in general. I do love how the Hull B splits neatly into four ~100 SCU zones, so you can easily separate four Medium contracts on it.
no, but you can put the 12 scu argo bags on it. Mole has bigger lasers and the option of having different lasers for different purposes which can be handy
oh damn, can you put the 16 scu bags on the mole?
Helix, Surge, Surge, Gadget
No, they're the wrong shape
No you can't, you can put the 12 SCU argo bags on the prospector though
The drake bags are bespoke to the golem
For member rank there's 5 missions you can stack at Microtech that drop at 2 DCs and New Babbage, all in it's around 60-80scu and it's recommended to take a note of how much of each to drop at each site, if you're organised it takes around 20 mins to earn 500k
so i just started mining again recently, so its been several patches (I think 4.4 was my last).
Did they nerf extraction sizes or something? It seems like you have to crack rocks a lot smaller now to be able to scoop them up with a mole
They redid resistances and instability factors to account for quality. A 1,000 quality iron for example, is significantly harder to crack than a 200 quality iron
is it normal to need to crack down to below 2 SCU rocks? we were finding that any fragments above that required further cracking even with mole lasers
Yeah they changed that recently as well
Anymore, yeah. It's not about the size of the laser, it's the size of the extractor. Those are standardized right now, so anything over 2 SCU has to be subcracked
so the implication being that we're eventually going to have extraction heads / sub components? makes sense
We assume so, but it's not clear at this time. It may be baked into the head itself, as there are currently modifiers for it on some heads, and modules for it
hopefully this is the right place to ask this, does anyone know if the cages in the base IC have cargo grids?
Follow up, does the mule parking spot have cargo grids?
I cant check rn as im not home, just curious
The Ironclad's cages do have cargo grids. You can fit 8 SCU in either 1's or 2's in them, and there are 5 of them for a total of 40 SCU.
I don't know what a MULE parking spot is though
at least in the ironclad trailers and reveals, they positioned the back of the IC, the empty area next to the bottom turret, as a parking spot for mules
Ahh, that. No, it does not have a grid there
And honestly, a MULE is useless on the cladlad
gotcha, thanks! Seems a little dumb not to include one
You're moving almost exclusively 24's
100% agreed, thats just how cig positioned it originally so it stuck in my head
Ahh
which is why i think its dumb that cig didnt include it as a small extra cargo grid
wonder if you could park a nursa there
So, sometimes, at commodity terminals, it says I have 2,216 SCU instead of 2,200. I don't know why, or where that other 16 is coming from, but it may have something to do with that. And yes, you can
very interesting. Thanks for the help anyways, gonna stick a nursa in that corner then lol
There are elevators at the very front of the cargo area right? I've been told those hold another 16 SCU
Oh is that what it is? It doesn't show up all the time, just sometimes. They really need to address the stupid fucking doorway issue for the secure area. No real way to get boxes in and out without a lot of very slow, careful movements
They need to just remove that stupid bench and put like a secure door there to pass 8's through
wow ig those count as grids
dont you love the cargo lifts being quite big to fit large cargo and then the door cant fit more than a 1scu box? cus i do
Oh yes, it's absolutely lovely that an elevator for 8SCU boxes is available for the door that can't fit more than a very carefully maneuvered 2 SCU if you are lucky
Its like the secondary cargo room in the freelancer's all over again
With the misaligned 1 SCU grids? lol
Nah, with the door that can fit only fit a 2 SCU box if you're like pixel perfect about it
Yeah, the center area? I could never get a 2 to snap in there, and the grids are offset. Front on one side, back on the other
Idk, I haven't used a freelancer in a very long time
I have a hand written (typed up) breakdown of every ship, every loop, every bug and workaround I know, and I try to keep it up to date as much I can
Oh I believe you
As a result, I have a weird level of esoteric knowledge from this game
For instance, the Caterpillar has 15 separate cargo grids
I need more hobbies...
that is indeed a very weird fact to know about this game lmao

Does anyone know the best system to do refueling missions? I'm guessing Pyro? I'm currently only Jr. Contractor
Depends how far you want to travel. ArcCorp is probably the smallest area, but also the most bug prone right now.
Pyro tends to be quiet, but, well, it's Pyro.
Nyx is a monstrous pain in the ass
Ah, ty. Yeah really just the most AUEC I can get but I suppose that will come with the rep
I think you can already get the 150k missions in pyro at Jr. Contractor
but you need to be at the locations in the inner couple of rings of pyro, or a planet in stanton to see them
Strictly speaking you dont actually refuel anyone in those though, so if you dont want to shoot an aurora for every mission then you're out of luck
I am a little confused by Salvage loop. Is there anything we are doing wrong? I feel like the earnings are too low
We got Fortune, only salvage mission we got was for gladius.
We started the fracture, mission completed and we salvaged a little around 4 CCUs to the ship.
Then we just drop cargo to cargo elevator. Repeat and sell.
Am I missing anything to the loop?
I mean, you can scrape as well if you want, but yes, you can just fracture and go too
The fracture doesn't give anything, I still have to salvage every piece as far as I know, right?
What is scrape for?
So, when you fracture a ship, it breaks into pieces. Inherently, yes you should disintegrate them so you get something. Scraping, is using your scraper heads to "powerwash" the surface of the ship into materials. It's the actual relaxing way to salvage. Just fracture and go is grinding, and it gets old fast
In that case I was using scraping all the time 😄
I had no idea I can just disintegrate ship in one go. Thanks 😄
Are courier missions not working?
For rmc is it. And yes. It is solo'd by tons of people but ymmv.
I do not care for it solo at all
But it's doable for sure.
Moth is still the better pick for cmats though
On the first rep level I had an Ion which was 6 RMC. But that was after like 6 smaller ships. I am mainly doing the turn in RMC crates as I also have a Reclaimer and can mass produce RMC. This is with Asagio. Senior level has Hercs with good cargo to take.
You need to do more missions to get more reputation to get better missions. As for salvaging, I scrape off the ship, then blast it so I can get construction rubble. I try to accept missions for ship that with clean and smooth surfaces so its easier, angles and lateral engines are trickier to salvage. Also ships have cargo boxes. I got a Vulture so I can grab some of those as well
Im lazy so I dont scrape.
yay! my ICA with 8mil of cargo reappeared 😄
The key is to log back in at some previous location. The server sends it back to the border between servers.
the question is, should I try another Stanton to Nyx jump?..
oh no... it's not the Ironclad I'm looking for. it's the old one still stuck in arccorp's orbit 🙁
My ICA has been parked since the day it came out. Not even worth trying to use it while CIG does nothing to communicate that they’re working on it.
It is annoying to deal with it, but it works reasonably okay within a single system. I just shouldn't have tried going thru the gate with cargo
Your command module isn't detaching constantly?
I hadn't tried lately, but that just sounds like a nightmare.
Once or twice during the long jump when crossing the server border. It's 2 minutes to reattach. Not the worst that bugs can do to you in SC.
Ok, I may try and use it then.
Not saying that I'm okay with the bug. If there are no fixes in 4.8.1 I'll get vocal
Just drift away from a ship, target it and dock with Ralt+N.
You need to scan for the IC to become targetable sometimes
I mean the quick Tab scan
so now that you have to refine salvage, how much could a fully loaded vulture make after refining?
This was working fine for me (re-attached CommandModule several times) but then it just started failing -the CM wouild approac the extended docking collar, then the process would just stall and the CM would drift away.
Not that much in just the 13 39 SCU or so that a Vulture has. I would recommend caching it somewhere until you're ready to refine and doing it all at once. If you have a teammate that can print & offload into a Raft / Cutlass, it goes much smoother.
Vulture can carry 39ish
Just deposit and refine/sell it at HUR-L1, minimize logistics
Don't forget to occasionally do the salvage turn-in missions when available. Just be careful, a couple of them are highly profitable, and some are a loss vs selling the materials
You’ll make about 93k aUEC per trip, minus fees
If you are doing it for money you’d be better off with ship combat tbh
hi salvation or vulture into an ironclad assault? what is more efficient?
Bigger ship = faster cracking and scraping
salvation is the worst salvage ship you can run for efficiency, but no matter what you do, using the IC as a host is going to be less efficient than not doing that
So do what is fun, you aren’t being efficient anyway, 😉
then is better buy a vulture with ica? I want to salvage in deep space
That said the bigger ship argument doesn’t always hold true
The moth isn’t faster at scraping than a vulture, per player involved
Takes up way too much space in an IC.
Yes Vulture seems to take about 80% of the ICA's bay.
You have basically no grid left.
Fortune might fit better, but it’s the same kind of issue
Yeah, Fortune may leave you with 50% of the grid or a bit less. Still plenty.
Salvation will be totally fine tho.
Vulture/Fortune are better with actual motherships. Polaris/890J.
yes it is other objective in the future with the mole
thanks
does anyone know if system matter for refueling? whats best syustem if so
Stanton has shorter traveling distances...
In Stanton you will spend less time traveling
I was told you can get better contract payouts in pyro but cannot confirm. all my refueling to date has been stanton
are pembroke and novikov not sold anymore at mining facilities?
I mean like, mining space stations
pembroke was at levski last night when i checked, and novikov was at a different station but i for the life of me cant remember where i was when i saw it
FML, why wouldn't that shit be sold anymore in all the lagrange points 😐
Pem at grim hex, Tammy ans sons and levski
I think the Novikov was at CRU-L1 Green whatevertheheckitscalled
it was one of the lagrange stations
I don't know why they changed this. but the change is stupid
if it's a station with a refinery, then the refinery should obviously sell things to help mine if it has a store
I hate how surges, my most used module, can only be bought at levski
Do you get less salvage for salvaging player ships?
Don’t think so,
Hey all - is it possible to do Convalex
Master Rank - Direct Bulk Cargo Hauls using a Hull B? Looks like the max SCU for em is roughly 432SCU in 24SCU boxes.
Is there like... An SCU size vs ship calc somewhere?
24 scu is inconvenient for the hull b
You’ll miss out on an 8scu box worth of space on each “pad”
If I did that I wouldn't make much on the contract. I'll just have to try to find some competition grade components on ships.
most people running those particular contracts do it ONLY to level up their reputation
once you have high rep, you get the well paid contracts.
Yep, got all the rep I need now.
Don't doubt it - it's mostly just for grinding the Master rank missions for the BPs they offer. I wanna lock em down before CUG gets the funny idea of swapping them to something else equally annoying to complete
yup
Just paid 20k for a salvage contract and it has no description of where it is and doesn't give me a marker when I track it. Any other way to find where it is? Tacked and untacked several times.
Could try the age old "alt f4 and rejoin"
That for my question?
Yes
Given that people are having big problems logging in right now that might not be good.

Have you found that alt-f4 ing does make markers show up in the past? I might try it.
There was a patch at some point that had mission issues and alt f4 sometimes did fix it. But depends, I know there's been some buggy missions that just don't work, not sure if salvage is affected
And no idea if that will fix it either, just something to try. Pick your poison I guess. Login issues or maybe lose 20k
I'll try some other contracts and see if they are bugged on this server too.
so im at lagrange B in my mole with a helix + 2 focus 3s + regier-c3 and its saying its impossible to mine this gold asteroids, am I missing something?
no, the mole cant solo laser everything. There are 3 miners on it for that purpose, to help break up those big boi's. one laser won't cut it
I personally hated the mole for solo mining so i refunded it and got a prospector because it was way more time consuming to line up to mine things just to find out i can't even mine most things solo anyways.
Should be able to solo things up to 40k if you have the right tools, maybe up to 70k if you really tried and the rock wasn’t super problematic on its own, but… seriously just get a laser operator from global if you want to run the mole, it’s so much better when you have a crew
(He says while using it solo daily and being too lazy to find a laser operator most of the time)
Anyone got a best in slot for the Prospector? Trynna mine as big as possible carrying arnd sabirs
The salvation scrapes faster than the vulture/fortune, if you didn't know
Yeah, cinchs are terrible
Does it have a similar scrape area?
with abrades though, it has the same speed modifier as the reclaimer, with the downside being it has the smallest scraping diameter of all the salvage ships
The vultures heads have a diameter of 3.68, and the salvation heads have a diameter of 2.8
That’s kinda what I’m trying f to understand tho, sure maybe it’s the fastest in the small area, but how does that work out when scraping, say, titan
I don't know, I haven't properly compared the fortune/vulture/salvations scraping speeds yet
I also typically use the fortune over the vulture when I salvage, so I don't have a good sense for how fast the vulture is compared to the salvation. I do know that in practice, the salvation feels much faster than the fortune
I’ll have to give it a fair shake next salvage night
When do you guys do salvage nights? I missed the mining stuff last night cause I was doing some mining of my own lol
Sundays
May not be able to attend then, got work on sundays
Anyone tried the new salvage contracts (they may not be new i haven't played in abit) the ones where you have to get shield / cooler / PowerPoint components and deliver them, just wondering if its worth doing
I don't know if they're "worth doing" in terms of profit per time, but I like collecting the components as a little bonus to the salvage I'm already doing
Its annoying to grab the components with a vulture/salvation though, since putting them on the grid reduces the amount of RMC you can carry. The fortune/MOTH/reclaimer all have seperate areas where you can store those extra components
Its pledge-only currently, unfortunately
Ahh of course, my vulture will have to do for now
Some are very worth doing, others are not. Do the math before accepting them
The good ones also have a seven DAY cool down so don't be surprised when you can't do them again right away
Is that the intended cooldown or classic CIG decimal blunder like when MOTH first released with basically 1/100th of the indended salvage speed?
7 days is an insane cool down like what
🤷♂️ no idea. They probably intended a somewhat high cool down, as they are quite profitable compared to selling the materials. A 30 minute cool down would be pointless as it would likely take that long to collect another mission worth of materials. A day might be more reasonable. A couple hours is probably too short.
There's also a mis-match in the description, it says they take unrefined CM, but they actually require you to refine it first. If you could do them without refining the high cool down would make even more sense, since the profit margin on them would be even higher. Of course that would also make the ones with a 30 minute cool down profitable. Who knows what they intended...
When you say "the good ones" are you talking about the ones that pay like 150k for 2 s1 coolers and 2 s1 shields or even higher ones
No, at the next level there is one in Pyro that pays like 600k for 15scu each of RMC and CM, plus some components. It's like an 80% bonus on the value of the CM / RMC
Ahh ok right, so itll take a bit of grinding to get to those ones i assume
and there's one in Nyx that is similar except it doesn't require any CM, just RMC and components. Pays about 400k, but it's like a 240% bonus on the value of the RMC.
there's also a couple that require 41 scu of refined CM and 10 RMC, and pay less than the materials are worth :(. One in Pyro that pays more than they are worth, but the percent bonus isn't as high as the two I mentioned above. But they all SAY they take unrefined CM, so who knows what's intended. They would be really good money if they actually accepted unrefined, probably too good.
first time in for many a moon. Pulled out my vulture to try salvaging. I'm in the Halo, when I try to pull up to a panel, it doesn't stay still, it flys all over the place. i can't tractor it close, I can't scrape it. Is this broken or am I doing something wrong that's changed? I've made millions scraping before.
Is there still a bug with mining bags?
if you’re running cargo, where’d be the best place to set as a primary residence?
i spawned in nyx because I thought the mining stuff would mean more exports but I’m not really sure
How are you cargo haulers liking the Hull-B? After testing the IC/ICA (despite the bugs), I'm starting to think it's not the ship for me.
Mainly for the Covalex missions and eventually commodity trading.
I’ve always wondered
how does the cargo loading on the hull b work like outside of space stations
like any other cargo ship for the most part
like can you load it up at spaceports?
hull b is the last ship in the hull series that can load on the ground/hangar
so the hull-c can’t?
hull c cannot land while loaded
it can hover in atmo, but thats about it
the way the hull b lays its cargo, it can still land on its gears
hull c is a much larger cargo space, with its spindles in the cardinal directions
The Hull C can only load at space stations, either using external freight elevators or the magic autoloading cube. Hull B is a normal cargo ship, just with the addition of the fancy unfolding spindles
you can kinda do planetary stuff with it, but its jank as hell
just dont expect to be able to land
then for the hull d-e, just make the spindles larger and add more of em lol
hull a - 64 scu
hull b - 512 scu
holt crap what
c- 4608
d- 6912
e - 12288
JESUS
does e have the most in the game?
Yeah the whole thing with the hull series is they are pure-bred cargo haulers that excel within their size class, but with the downside of it all being external
hull e and d are top in the line in terms of scu
next ship underneath them is the javelin rn
then the hull c
Should I pull my Hull C out of buybacks or still busted?🤣
How is solo mining in the mole for credit farming this patch?
Still busted, more than usual
In the graveyard it stays then lmao, maybe Ill pick up a Hull B next time its available
are you able to add modules and stuff to a rented out mole or no?
You can remove and replace components manually with a tractorbeam, but not in the VLM
Gotcha
And you can't save that loadout afaik, although that might've changed with the new insurance stuff in 4.8
hows mining and stuff so far in 4.8?
A lot better than in 4.7, with the new quality bands
I've only done a few mining sessions, but It seems like I'ver been finding high quality ore more often in stanton
hmmm
Nyx is supposed to spawn higher quality ore than stanton, and pyro is supposed to have the most high quality ore. Do keep in mind that nyx only has asteroids to mine, so all the rocks will be a lot bigger and harder to mine
Yeah i might just try and get a mole and mine in nyx
I'd reccomend bringing a friend or two if you can, solo mining in nyx is just such a pain
I shall suffer greatly myself
Cant be that bad
Oh right should i just grab anything and everything for ore?
Depends. You always wanna prioritize high quality ore if you find it, since you can either sell it to other players for lot of money or use it to make yourself high grade stuff. If your mining just to sell to the TDD, then go after high-value ore first (like quant or savrilium) and pay attention to quality second
hmmmmm trying to think if i should mind for quality or for credits
How rare is Carinite?
Normal carinite? Its abundant in the hathor holes. Caveat being you can only find it at hathor
On the wiki it says I need 50 carinite
For wikloe
Yeah you can only get that by opening one of the hathor caves and mining it there
Reason I said "normal" carinite is because "pure" carinite also exists, and has a small chance of replacing a normal carinite node in the hathor caves
So even tho it doesn't say anything about it being pure it has to be pure?
No, if it wanted pure it would specifiy pure
So juat cave mining
Look up what hathor is, its not normal cave mining. Theres a bunch of steps to actually opening the hathor caves, its an entire event
Look up "star citizen align and mine" on youtube and watch some videos of people doing it
Okay thanks for your help
What's the rules around ships getting despawned at station external FEs?
I was unloading my Connie, and in the time it took to send the cargo down for a hauling job the COnnie got disappeared. ASOP told me it was stored but it failed to summon, resulting in me having to claim it.
In case it's relevant, a buddy had his (unsharable) covalex intro mission in the ship too, so he submitted it at the same time i.e. cargo not associated with the owner of the ship was submitted; could that have triggered an impound?
anyone got tips for experienced rank covalex
question im new to mining , solo is there anyhting better about th mole for solo than prospector or just that each head can used in a dif way? and more storage?
The mole has a lot more storage, and all of the mole's heads are S2, versus the prospectors which are S1. The S2 heads have more power and an extra module slot over the S1's
okay so i may as well just go mole gfor solo if i can buy it?
Downside is you gotta switch seats all the time, and the wind can push the mole around when you're not in the pilot seat
If you're willing to deal with it, yeah its better
I did a bunch of solo mole mining last patch, but this patch I got a prospector instead. Much cheaper, and the weaker power is worth a more convenient ship to use IMO
anyone successfully salvaging panels with the vulture this patch?
I can't check myself yet, but are ROC/ATLS GEO minables still needing to be sold 1 at a time due to different qualities levels?
I do hope one of the new Gatac ships is a solo miner with a size 2
yea
need a hand with a 852 quality quant rock
We know Greys market is coming out with a "basher" in june, wonder what that could be.
How is cargo running these days?
If you mean the cargo missions, tedious but profitable. ranking the rep up is a slog and a half, but theres good money if you put in the time.
made about 4 mil in 3 hours without even realizing I made that much. need to get to Senior/Master for the juicy contracts though
Ok cool beans
If you mean commodity trading, heard of quite a few instances where players lost a lot of invested cargo due to bugs / pirates / poor decisions / server issues. so nothing really new there
Yeah i was mainly looking at doing the contracts, lost way too much to game derps
Contracts are decent
Good blueprints locked at the top too, if you care about those
Anyone know why i cant find Hadanit on aberdeen? Fyling around for 40+ mins with 0
For starters, double check on the system map that Hadanite is one of the resources available on Aberdeen
It does say hadanite yes
Then I'd jump to a different POI and check around there
When I was searching for hadanite I didnt find any for like 30 minutes and then went to a different POI and found like 200 gems worth in another 30 minutes
Is the golem able to mine the hardest rocks that a prospector can mine these days?
If they fixed the golem mining laser being bespoke, yes a golem can mine everything a prospector can if you use the same loadout
Help with salvaging and the mechanics
No clue if i need a ship or not or i can just find ships and loot their comps? idk i just need a guide
I dont know if there is a decent guide, but I can try to answer your questions as best I can
Im trying to maximize profit rn as a beginner since i want a medium size ship as a primary without spending on the pledge
want that as a last resort if i never dominate a mechanic lol
- salvage ships are for breaking ships down into 2 categories, Construction and RMC. The construction Category gives a subcategory based on which ship is used, and RMC is the same across all ships
- to get construction stuff, you use the salvage ship to fracture and then disintigrate ships, limited by size compared to your current ship.
- RMC uses a gameplay mechanic called scraping to strip materials off the ship and build a supply of RMC
- if all you want is stripping components, you do not need a dedicated salvage ship. any ship with a cargo grid or ample interior room can hold components you strip off.
- if you want to test a salvage ship, I believe Vulture is rentable, and it is also currently the leading community favorite for solo salvage that you can get in game. In game purchasable are Salvation (Snub Little Salvager), Fortune / Vulture (Medium Early Career Salvager) , and Reclaimer for (Super Large Hungry Capital Salvager)
- if you use a salvage ship to fracture and disintigrate a ship, you need to refine it before its sellable
Can I not do starfarer to starfarer refueling? I dont see where the boom lines up
Im trying to refuel my ship with a beacon
do you think stripping components is profitable without also using a salvaging ship to fracture?
Im more into the grab this and that from their ship and sell it off somewhere (I have a titan renegade as a perm ship )
Not right now, best use to stripping components off salvage contracts is for either the contract itself or for your own use for free easy upgrades. most components you find on the contracts are worthless outside the contracts themselves, as they are too low performing to sell to a player in most circumstances and you cant sell them to the stores for good profit if i recall correctly
bummer bummer
Im just tired of the manual 1 scu at a time cargo hauling on the titan and i barely made any progress (481k)
Trying to look into another profession in the meantime till i get enough credits for a decent hauler for efficient scu hauling
hauling is gonna be tedious until you get to member rank and have access to decent ship
recommend renting either a taurus or raft for early hauls until you can buy one outright
How does one check these ranks?
f1 open mobiglass, cliick rep tab, each mission giver has their own rep
Where can i rent these ? so i can swoop by to check them out
Taurus is at New Babbage, Raft I believe is Levski but not sure
Better rep, more scu? or more credits per contract?
I have a pledged hauler so I dont gotta worry about it
both
Red Wind will give earlier missions for better payout, but Covalex high rank are the bread and butter, and those recquire grinding up the slog
Covalex Interstellars are worth a lot iirc
Red Wind and Ling will give more money but most of those are extreme super long distance like delivering in and out of pyro or nyx for example
Sounds fun to go into pvp territory
You can make money selling components and weapons, although not a LOT of money. Sale price is about 10% of purchase price, so s2 power plants and q drives are like 10k. S5 guns are like 15k. It adds up
I didnt know they could sell that well
I thought it was like 2-5% of purchase price honestly
Are those common to find?
then again I have absolutely no clue how to even start with salvaging or finding wreckage lol
every salvage contract will have at least 1 powerplant, shield, and cooler, all ships only have one QD
some ships you cannot take them though cause the ship isn't fully supported
literally take them out of the ship. some ships have physical components that you take out with a tractor beam, just yoink them.
titan will hold S1 and S2 components decently
S1 components are roughly the size of a large weapon, like rocket launcher.
S2 components are roughly the size of 1SCU containers
Since they fixed duping components with insurance they upped the price on them. Registered items (ie, anything off a player ship) can't be sold though.
It's a very recent change with 4.8
Yeah I only started salvaging again last few days
I love the salvage loop but when your bank account has so many zeroes before the wipe, i would only salvage for fun instead of money making reasons
now its a good money maker again
Star citizen is fascinating but i can tell it 100% needs a friend to make it 10x more fun lol
But since sc is a demanding game , friends are rare lol
Ill try salvaging later today to see if i dominate it or not if not cargo hauling it is
To get this straight though,
I scan and find the wrecked ships and i just go inside and yoink the internals?
Most salvaging is just scraping and cracking the ship with a salvager, but yea you can also yoink components if it’s a ship you spawned with a salvage contract
wait so i can make more money than what the contract says by taking the internals aswell?
The contacts cost money, you are buying salvage rights. Yes you can make more by salvaging the components and guns as well as scraping and fracturing.
There are also turn in contracts where they ask for certain components
You can make between 20 and 60k extra selling the components. Early conracts have 300 credit fee for the salvage rights
Bigger wrecks cost more to buy the rights to
but the ROI compensates the fee i suppose
100%
would 400k be enough to rent a vulture?
300 credits for a salvage rights to a 100i, fracture for 2 SCU of construction, refine for a like 500 credits, sell for like 25k
Refine?
You just gotta front the cost yourself. It becomes highly profitable once you get used to it
Man i gotta take notes
Yeah 400k should pay for a vulture for a few days at least
Not quite. It takes 10scu of ucm to get 3 scu refined
Aren't you gauranteed at least 1 SCU when you start an order?
I thought they round up to nearest scu
It will give you partial crates now, but they might sell as full I'm not sure
Damn now I gotta take notes with the new changes lmao
But the rounding is gone, with the switch to quality on mining rounding up would be kinda broken
Even draken is learning new things
shows how much the game changes in a single patch
now im worried
Now that you mention mining did mining also get a change?
is it also profitable like salvage?
Just play and pay attention, you will figure stuff out. It's much easier to play until you find a specific question and then ask that than it is to lean everything up front and then go play
Yeah youre prob right , im at work rn so i cant hop on LOL but ill be in chat again later if i still have the same doubts
Mining is more profitable than salvage if you know what you are doing, but its very similar in basic concepts. Main differences are
- certain high quality mats can be sold after refining to players for far higher profit than the market value of the mats, cause they are used in certain crafting recipes.
- mining is much more self driven. Salvage rights will spawn a ship for you to go get the materials. Mining you just gotta roam around looking for the material you want.
Uh oh selling to players?
Is it difficult to sell to players or is there a market of demands that i can just accept and send it
For example, high quality iron might sell to the "store" for 50k per SCU, but you could sell to another player for 500k easily
selling to players is risky for its own reasons, I would wait till you get to that point before trying to learn specifics
but it is incredibly profitable if you find the right stuff
accidentally detatched my backpack from the GEO...why wont it let me stick it back on
You can make money mining without the player market if the player market scares you, just gotta mine stuff that the TDD pays well for
Stuff like stileron, quant,
taranite, gold, bex, the harder to mine materials
But really, as the seller, player trading is fairly safe if you operate under a “boxes stay in storage until payment is received” mindset
A 3 player crew in a mole can fill 8 bags with stileron in an hour or so, which would net each player about 1m in profit, just selling to the TDD. But if you sell 1 scu of 900+ stuff to another player, that one scu is worth way more than TDD value
mb for not responding
Ty for helping ill try to learn to mine or salvage to see which is more fun and profitable
I don't think the bespoke mining head is a bug. My understanding was that the golem mining head was the highest power and matched a prospector's highest power options with the same attachments. Just making sure that was the actual case.
hardest part is that theres absolutely no guides abt anything thats in the new patch
So salvage guides are completely useless if its from 4.7
Nah my golem when I had it was the same laser as default prospector, but prospector could change to a stronger one
but that was back in 4.4
so who knows what was going on with it
Helix 1 and Pitman both have 3150 output, 2 gadget slots, but the pitman has 40 range vs 15 on the Helix 1
Most mining stuff is out of date too; best source of mining information I knew about was regolith and the regolith team already confirmed they were ending support on it
My golem didnt have the pitman though
that was what was bugged lmao
Oh, well that isn't bugged now
I haven't picked up the Golem this patch, but that's what I'm trying to decide - Golem for my solo mining for crafting purposes, or get a Prospector. What I don't really track is the nuances of the different heads that the Prospector allows. Would you ever run anything other than a Helix?
Yeah, "fix"is the wrong word there, as it's intended. Change would be a better way to phrase it
He clarified, the default arbor was being put on golems a while back instead of the bespoke pitman
Yeah, I see that now. Wasn't aware of that issue
It was annoying lmao
Everyone kept telling me the golem pitman was good
my response was "But my golem doesnt have a pitman tho 🥺 "
And let me tell you, golem with a bespoke locked arbor was terrible
is greycat ROC mining bugged by any chance?
been for several patches, had not hear of any fix yet, there are some workarounds
The golem has always had the pitman stock
It has a slightly lower ceiling than a prospector with a helix
Due to the +resist
But for most resources that doesn’t actually matter
Can mine similar sized iron/heph rocks all day long
The ROC DS works fine, the ROC has a misaligned laser
If you can mine by visual look of the rock, you can mine with it anyway, but that’s… not a normal thing people do
I’ll do it if the server I’m on suddenly hits 5fps, because I ain’t waiting 20 seconds for the scan to finish
except, apparently, when it doesn't
Rules #1-1389619835318741 of SC. Everything works except when it doesn't.
Guys HOW TF CAN I TURN OFF THE LAMP IN IRON CLAD
cant find the option in config
also tried turning it off al together but doesnt work
Its supposed to be a pitman, but back in 4.4 and maybe 4.5 there was a bug where some golem ships got locked with the basic arbor mining laser.
Haven't heard anyone have that bug after 4.6 but it was a few of us back in the 4.4 days
Have you experienced panels drifting away and constantly moving when you get close to them? I can’t get to a point where I can scrape them. I’m not even hitting them
No I haven't. Try using your tractor beam on them until they are in place and then scrape them
Only when you touch them with a tractor
Using tractors on salvage pieces is a neat fantasy, but in practice it doesn’t work all that well
Is there cargo to smuggle
How does smuggling differ from hauling when there’s no penalty to haling illegal stuff
Hi, after a few mining sessions in Mole with a friend, we noticed that a large portion of our ore wasn't being detected by the refinery. Do you have any idea how to work around this, please? This has happened several times.
I tried storing them in my freight elevator, but it didn't work either.
That’s the second time I’ve seen that mentioned here, but I haven’t noticed it myself
I did have levski eat ore once, it auto stored my mole when I left the seat, failed to pull it up and went unknown, then it reappeared stored 5 min later with only one full bag and the rest empty
well thx, for the next sessions, I'll try to see if the mole owner should be the one putting the ore into the bags to to try to avoid this issue
Anyone know any mission's that spawn like 3-5 large ships like Vaughn did with reclaimers and c2s
Idk if Vaughn still does cuz I low-key wanna chill with my friend and salvage and I enjoy salvaging large ships tho idk if it's worth it auec wise compared too the missions where I could gather rmc from like jump gates and stuff and then do some missions that spawn fighters for the components and guns
I see cuz I'm there's the vip missions but that spawns like 30 smaller ships and is more work than it's worth imo for salvage
Does Vaughn still do that? Cuz based off mission database it still has the same loadout plus a harby spawns which iirc has s2 stuff
Also looks like it's in nyx now which means no crimestat? Not sure how crime works in nyx tbh
Is placing mining gadgets in zero G any better this patch, or any tips on the best way to get them to work? Haven't tried recently, but recall this being exceptionally annoying in 4.7
Not sure, we tried to farm that rep last patch and got nowhere
It’s rough
Last time I went to check in Nyx the little eye icon is everywhere you go, like the entire sector is monitored. However, all it takes is the very 1st mission for Vaughn to unlock every level, and you can easily board the ships and punch the guy in the pilot seat (ship dependent) without getting a CS.
I did the 1st Vaughn mission by distorting the ship in atmo, and then for whatever reason when I blew it up I didn't get a CS (they changed atmo on moons and ships fall at like 5m/s and don't explode anymore).
After that, all the vaughn tiers were available even though I have barely any rep.
are you able to loot components off of salvage missions?
As long as they aren’t s3
Also, you can get large ship recovery "cargo" missions which also give you a ship that can be powered on and QT'd back to a station to unlock + comes with all the components that aren't bricked.
And those components are owned by you, so they can be used for salvage quests
as opposed to components you loot off of generic outlaw ships and player ships
Actually the new system allows you to store the ships and strips the components in the VLM, then scrap them.
True
So you can harvest S3 parts as well.
As long as it’s within an acceptable distance from a hangar, afaik you still can’t quantum tow
The cargo retrieval ships can be powered on and their QD works. Haven't tried the salvage ones.
Go up too rock and spam attempt too place lol but yeah it's not nice
When attempting this it often tosses the gadget and you gotta be quick to save it from floating away never to be found again.
Real dude I've had it not even placed on the rock it's just floating in space but still somehow it works
Yeah I did get one to place once and then I could calibrate it, but I spent literal hours trying and never succeeding last patch.
Cuz my thought is do Vaughn a whole bunch loot the comps and do this for turn in tho is rmc or the construction mats even worth it I'm not sure how the refinery changes affected it as I haven't used the reclaimer since then but I'm tempted too store credit it rn cuz I have a friend I've been playing a lot with and it would be peak
CMAT is apparently a lucrative loop
I see
Main issue is finding a bunch of large ships too just chill and salvage at but ig I'll have too check it out cuz jump gates and certain spots are solid
Vaughn is how I got my M7A/M6A loadout for my Paladin, just looted a couple of corsairs
Nice
Hey there, how do I place a mining gadget? I cant seem to make the placing outline appear
I am in space mining an asteroid, if that matters.
U pray and hope
Aka it's often bugged? 🙁
Click too active it and then u kinda just spam click too place
good to know
can this give components that aren’t purchasable?
I wouldn't say necessarily bugged cuz it does work I managed too get lucky and get it pretty often but my friends didn't it seems too just be kinda luck based if it'll place for u
But often there's times I spend 5 mins getting it too work so idk
Def wonky
Id assume so
might have to do those missions then
but first I need to actually play the game and not crash
Only if you find the handful of ships like the Prowler
It workd! thanks!
Yeah it really was just a keep trying and get lucky type thing imo
I managed too get it pretty often first try but then would have times I'm spending forever just fucking. With the gadget lol
Is there anything special about the reclaimer in nyx
Solid from that guy can't remember his name
Is the hull c blue box auto-loading for missions done and over, and you need to load manually now?
Yes… and no
The scraper heads/tractors might be slightly different but iirc they still aren’t abrades and therefore you still gotta change them
Hey guys , I know people mentioned HULL C didit give any cargo deck this patch (Yet) but has anyone else tried it and can confirm if its working or nto
What
Can't find the exact text rn but u can still do it iirc but they removed the missions that were specifically for the hull c from my understanding
Well, there are still missions that are good for the hull c
which you could do in an ironclad, but that's a PITA
#star-citizen message
#star-citizen message what locations have it Incase ur wondering
Yeah, but right abovev that you can still use hull c auto-loading supposedly, which is way faster for the 1400+ SCU missions
It really ain't that bad tbh
I mean HULL C AUTOLAOD
Got 2 large experienced missions in that
Takes less than 2 mins in hull c...
I see is the paint scheme any different or anything?
I see
Undecided if I wanna buy the reclaimer yet for a bit but I'm tempted cuz I like salvage
It’s a really good ship for salvage, that’s for sure
I fully agree but I just wanna kill a bunch of large ships and then salvage it's relaxing and fun tbh
Reclaimer can do that, if you replace the stock weapons
And maybe have a gunner
The 890J mission in particular is good for that
Roll up, disable shields, scrape it
Speaking of large ships cuz my plan is also possibly jump gates what's the spots I can't salvage cuz don't I need shields off and not armistice zone?
If there were no survivors, you can crunch it
Noted yeah I'm curious about honestly foxwell or intersect
Intersect has 890 plus a few ships iirc
You do need shields off to scrape, and ship off to crunch (usually)
I wanna go find and Idris
Sunday we salvaged around checkmate
Just grabbed every abandoned Percy/starfarer
Scrapped 2 Polaris
We had a few fighters patrolling but no one bothered us
One box at a time
🙏🏼
for a broken system
perfect
Maxlift don't scroll just turn and look you'll launch the box
U whip behind u
Just carefully very deadly
Which I think cargo ships having medbay for that would be nice
U wanna be about half way in-between ur ship it's fucking goated on hull b
well i just find myself boring myself if im alone
But that has small hurdles that sometimes makes it slower
😭
#looking-for-session super easy too find people here or ask in game chat what I always do
I always ask dw

its prob since im new to the game that no one will wanna go with a new player
Quite the opposite imo
I've been playing since 2021 and I love playing with new people too teach them
I did mention i was looking for a person to explore/do contracts with and no luck lol
And I feel alot of people who have played for a while feel the same
I think i sent a msg earlier and no luck
Just gotta offer a job and a pay
For cargo too there's external freight elevators if ur running space station too space station makes unloading and loading way faster and easier imo
Like if ur running port too harbor they have external freight elevators out in space u can just fly up too and load and unload
Tho the missions when u get thoose might be unlocked later rep
Oh i js started so probably
ty tho
im tired of having titan
so
i need that new ship asap
I'm home within 3 hours got a hull b u can borrow whenever I'm on
If u want
Imo the best cargo ship until u get too missions needing more than 500 scu
So basically too experienced rank maybe higher
Yeah I'm at work rn get home around 7est but can def to that
same here i get home at 9est
https://youtu.be/sfwDJTBfLLo?si=tHSoUXW18pK7Y1vQ so far this has been goated
The Covalex grind has changed in Star Citizen 4.8, and in this guide I’m breaking down the routes, ships, and strategies I recommend for every reputation level — from Trainee all the way to Master.
We’ll go over the best hauling locations, the fastest rep routes, what ships work best at each stage, and whether the Master reward grind is a...
For lower rep atleast
At experienced rep it kinda falls off cuz there's no good ways too really do it lol
get an Atls
But ye I stayed at a18 till I moved too harbor iirc
But ye atls for bulk moving and then use maxlift too get whatever spots the atls won't do
Mech suit with a tractor beam u click it brings box in front of u. U look where u want box u click again it places there
It's not about at a time it's about how much faster it is nicer it can be too use and how it saves ur fingers and ur scroll wheel
Look up where too buy from cstone it's 75k upfront cost iirc and then claim it and bring it up thru the freight elevator
In ur hanger
Much faster never bring up thru the main elevator much slower and bigger hassle
yeah i need to like
i need a reminder of all this
I dont expect myself to remember by 9pm
Well the text don't go anywhere so reread or reask then
Also I'll def be on when ur on so I can tell u in game too
But basically video for routes if ur after rep and atls after looking up on cstone the closest spot for u too buy it
Tho iirc a18 sells it at the ship shop
Did they say anything about refueling missions being fixed anytime soon? Starlite is pretty much useless considering the absurd amount of fuel the missions require.
only one box, but it’s infinitely faster than hand or ship tractor beams
won’t drop the crate like a hand beam, and you can free look to really throw those things around
so you can pivot faster than any ship mounted beam
Def worth the only thing better is the maxlift thing I said and that's really only in certain spots or with the hull b atleast
With maxlift ship tractor beams aren't worth really
They need too act like the maxlift too be worth
ill get atls when i upgrade from the titan
since titan wont have space for it inside
I'll provide u one with my hull b
Show u best way too use it
Basically atlas is for ur bulk cargo and moving the mass of the cargo and then u finish up with a maxlift like a scalpel basically
okay thank you man
Ship tractors are more useful for teams
Having two people in ATLS’s loading through a small door gets cumbersome, but you can work together, having the atls move it to the grid then the ship tractor arrange it
Or maxlift
I can agree with this tho for my use case with ic atleast I found maxlift better
Wish u didn't have too move so much too switch beams on it
Which speaking of where do the hull c ones be
Like the hull b and only co pilot?
Top bottom front back
No I mean too get into them
I thought it was that I couldn't find the button tho?
It’s a chair
I also only looked for like a min then got off cuz I had 2 hours before work
Yeah the chair with the slow ass animation
It very much looks the part
I just couldn't find the button I'll have too look better and properly ig
But only one can be used at a time is what I'm hearing?
Which if so is dumb
I think? Either that or there’s two chairs
I forget, been a few months since I’ve been up there
If ur talking about up the ladder and straight forward the cuck chair it's just one
That's what I'm calling it from now on atleast
Takes forever too get out of
Star citizen is a hella good game when yk how to get ur moneh
rn im struggling so im
on and off with it
lol
Foxwell and Gilly's is super solid
I only got 481k rn
I'm always willing too give most of the money from my hauls if u help move boxes if u wanted
They pay about 260k per
Don't really care for the money from the hauls not that worth with how much ur moving solo imo
Just after that rep
I prefer to get ships without spending money
Earn money gathering wikelo mats and get every ship I can “free”, only buy the ones I can’t get free
I've yet too do wikelo anything
Tho I do wanna grind for the Idris
Right now my personal goal is supplying the org with 16 Argo bags of each minable material in the game
Got any recommendations on a path for wikelo rep for that
I’ve done stileron, borase, tungsten, savrillium, lindinium, bout to be moving on to all the easier stuff
Oh, and beryl
Nice what q idk if you'd be open too selling some or letting me craft like a ts-2 or xl-1 I almost have the blueprints
Don’t think we’re selling, but if we are it’s all on uex
More likely we’d sell crafted stuff
Valid well if y'all need the blueprints lmk def down too share cuz fuck grind cargo
Have different people assigned to different reps to get them all

I gotta finish shubin
Industrial a radars are huge
Bro got the easiest one
Iunno, it really drops off at sr
Yeah but u can still just buy and sell mats no?
And the outpost elevators haven’t worked consistently in a week
You can, but with what money
Fair
Or find some 700 q and sell shouldn't be as bad well still being good q and selling for decent
I have literally 8k gems waiting on elevators to work consistently to turn in
~40 turn ins? Would get me to veteran
Or close to it
Tbf the org supplied me with the money to buy and equip the mole, so it’s not like I haven’t been paid anything
Speaking of this how is it after 4.8
Didn't they make it better
Like spawns and quality
Cuz before finding anything above 900 took like hours
It still takes hours to find above 900, but due to the wipe there’s a distinct lack of stock of base military and stealth components
Especially with certain common sources of them no longer having them
So anything 500+ is now valuable
If you have someone who can get the trading side of that done
Fair enough I'm picky and don't really care for anything below 950
I'll go down too like 900-940 if I'm not finding anything good
I’ll be more picky after we have a stock of base stuff
But like 700-800 range isn't as bad I hope? Also does pyro actually have higher q?
I want us to have 20-40 comps just ready to go of every kind
I’ve been finding 1-2 a session
Maybe 3 if I’m lucky
All over
I felt like pyro had higher q
Stanton, pyro, nyx,
I see
I go whenever the material I’m looking for is plentiful
Basically same but I've been trying too stick too pyro
What about gems for mxa u need had
And geo doesn't fit in caves
I spent the first week or so mining gems
So idk if cave mining is valid
So surface looking for it is viable?
Yup
I see yeah really pissed me off when I discovered the geo doesn't fit in caves
But it’s very rare
U can ofc no clip it thru the ground very easily and bring it with u
But that's a lot of getting in and out
Not worth the effort, the hand tool works
Use it to scan to see if there’s even any there, then go get it
Does hathor have good quality or like better than normal or is that only worth it if u need pure car
No idea on quality
But it has a far more variety mix now
You can find all the gem types there
Yeah but what about checking too see if it actually is good q tool can't do that right ?
Noted
I take all the quality… for reasons
Fair enough I'm picky
Yea, I’m more of a bulk miner atm
Feels like pre-quality mining tbh
You have rare materials (high quality) mixed in with common TDD fodder (low quality)
you mean it worked this patch?
yeah but , did anyone try it i dont wanna drop 16 mill on a broke ship
We’ve got one or two people who daily drive the IC for cargo missions
Ehh, Hull C prints money. I wouldn't prioritize buying one personally, but there are plenty of ppl with it pledged.
not the ic hull c
ok so auto load is still cooked then
Is the auto-loading over?
Wait what the if or covalex
Ah I just got it last night haven't tested it yet
Like doesn't work at all or is buggy I was told as long as the place supports it u can use it with the mission
Buggy, often stacks all the boxes in one place on one spindle and then it can’t turn in unless you fix it
And then you run into a new set of bugs at delivery
Ah so basically test if it does this if it doesn't cancel it fix it and then load manually?
Send the ele down again or go into it a few times too verify all the boxes are there
It will conveniently put all the boxes on the ship
Had that happen with hull b
Ight bet I'll def try it either way better than the ic
And has more cargo
I mean the external freight elevator
Yeah that works
The thing to beware of is,
When You go to fix the stacked boxes, the moment you move one box there will be an explosion of boxes going in all directions
You’ll have to gather them back onto the spindles
Yeah ik the bug plagues the Polaris and if u let it happen it will lock the entire grid too the ship
Lost 2k scu of resource drive cargo too that happening on the Polaris
Happens on my refinery orders too when I auto deliver
Oh that bug is back neat
Yeah iirc better too send too the station or if u send it back up and down it fixes it I can't remember
But I remember it being real around the tin and ice event
I only do to station now
And if it’s a lot of stuff I just get someone to help
Nice to have people
Ye shout-out my friend thats been helping me for free cuz so real
The other day I had to move 250+ scu from pyro
He let me keep the money till we got hull c
Of refined materials
My c1 ain’t doin that
Buddy happened to have a rented A2
So we used that
Nice I have c2 cuz ralien
Gib ralien
I can't wait
Sucks I'm doing all the cargo now tho
CIG must have nerfed the hell out of salvaging loot. I can barely find enough loot value to pay for the salvaging fee now. Sometimes mabe double if I'm lucky.
They did
On that note, do you still rank up to higher salvage contracts (the ones you pay a fee for) by doing the fee missions? I did 3x of the 300 FEE missions, and still just offered me more 300 fee options, so I stopped doing them as before I would be doing 5k then 20k missions by now.
You’re supposed to be salvaging on salvage missions, not commodity trading
So the nerf makes sense
Is there any combat rn that drops loot worth it?
10mil an hour pulling cargo off of ships you only paid 20k for was a bit absurd
I miss Vaughn and finding maze
Unfortunately not, we’re hoping for that to come back too
We loved the ship combat -> looting drugs/gold -> salvaging loop
Do we know if foxwell is worth still?
Cuz that according too the chart I have dropped good loot
Been dead for a while now
Foxwell, eh, it can have loot
But it saw the same nerf as salvage
I want to see drugs and weapons on small ship grids
Like a cutty black should have an scu of neon at least
Big cargo ships have no place in combat missions
Give the Polaris a smal chance to have a 32 scu box of gold
Polaris should have a chance too be fully loaded with maze
Vaughn was semi-decent before the Hotfix. You could find 400-800k worth of cargo, and steal the ships to unload them. Still wasn't more efficient than doing some of the other available loops, but it was possibly more "fun".
Very small chance like .05637
After the hotfix, they're down to less than 100k in cargo.
Yikes
So how do I get the old 20-50k fee salvage missions? Do I have to actually salvage? Before I just paid the fee, and blew the ship up - mission complete, and then it would progress me after a couple in each fee level...
Any mention of refueling missions being fixed soon? Starlite is unusable.
As in, you can only refuel 1 ship and you have to fill up again. The fuel quantities needed are absurd
So it’s less of being broke and you find it poorly tuned
I think that’s a common complaint
I didn't use the word broken. I was just asking if there's any mention of them being looked at on Spectrum from the people that follow
