Why nerf salvaging when you can make mining the most profitable out of all the industrial, legal jobs?
depends what kinda eco they wanna go for tho
You sell quant for 13k/scu but refueling an scu didn't cost 13k
Once you make that make sense, then other things can flow
if they wanna go low eco, shit needs to make less, especially for realism like there wanting, theyre gonna want you getting a new ship ingame to be a BASTARD of a task
Don't get ahead of yourself
Which it already is if you don't do any Vaughn missions.
Yeah
pissed the mole had 3 quarters fuckin nicked off its tank >:[
Fuel efficiency will most likely change to accommodate that shift
Is fuel efficiency already a mechanic in the game right now?
cant deny that yeah
either reclaimer or vaughn
The way I see it, IMO.
Mining has the most steps, takes the longest before you receive the payout, should make the most.
Salvaging should stay where it is for now.
Hauling should make a little bit more
makes logical sense yeah
I think hauling is in a good spot with contracts now
how mining changes post personal refining coming out is up in the air
You can start with nothing and work your way up
yeah its deffinitely entry level as an industry
Mining contracts may be the same way
I've heard Senior makes less money?
lil timmy picks up the game hauling is the first thing there likely to do with there cutter or mustang alpha
mining isnt gonna be purely freelance? wierd
Sure, but at that point you're doing it for the love of the loop and less the need to make money to afford other loops
I should have worded that better, I feel like it should scale better
yeah make money to work into going freelance
and then it becomes the fallback if you fuck up somewhere along the line
Good point. I would hate to be forced to choose whether I want to do the loop I want or the loop that makes me money.
I love salvaging. Love the loop, listen to a podcast in the background and just do your thing. It also makes decent money
yeah
But if it gets nerfed, I'd hate to do just Vaughn missions because I honestly hate the loop
whereas i prefer the mining loop because its more engaging but lower payout
also mining gadgets need either binning or seriously working on
I wonder if all these are worked on at 4.0?
?
How do you mean?
who the fuck uses em, there a massive time waste, need lugging around (and there huge to do so) and they dont offer enough benefit for that fucking about
I use them
never thought id see the day where i found a user of them
If I come across a big rock that needs less resistance. It takes a while, yes.. but the rock is worth it if I think about getting out
Or if I want the clustering to be better to reduce excess crap, there another one for that
i wouldnt say so
Mole with multicrew is really fun and strong. Some might want to be that 'boots on the ground' type that sets up the gadgets
if im running a mole with multi crew odds are im running the most optimal power set up for all challenges
I’ve had the prospector for a while, and getting in and out is much easier on the vulture
yeah, i just never get out unless in station
Mole is one of the ships I want
fuck off to yella belt, fill up, back to arc L1 risne repeat
it is good, just the solo game on it takes FOREVER
you really need at least 2 or 3 buddies to run it properly and properly capitalise with it
I’ll get a prospector if I want to mine solo
yeah
i just use the mole solo cause of the 96 scu storage
been really loving the roc recently tho
always used to say it was shit
then i tried it and was like "this actually aint as bad as i thought"
deffintely more instant profit than prospector from instant sell
getting it round is a bitch tho, especially loading into my carrier ship in hanger (fucking IMPOUNDING)
seriously need that sorting
ROC is gonna get a lot of love with crafting and the Arrastra coming out
good shit
Since gems are needed for refining
And the Arrastra can carry two in its hold
i did not know that
Get a lot of love from the community*
also the roc ds needs work
Yeah go watch the crafting vod from this year's Citcon
thing sucks
Dolovine was a component for an upgrade
hm
interesting
any news on if the roc is gonna be upgradeable with mining heads or anything?
i mean they should jsut keep the ds 1 seater in my eyes and just have it as an upgrade or mk2 type thing than making the mining arm need either a seperate operator or the 1 op having to get in and out
I'm not doing cargo or hauling usually : Daymar (CRU) ArcCorp Mining Area 141 : you can buy commodities but there is no elevator... is that "normal" ??
The elevator may be broken
Broken to the point they do'nt exist ?
a majority of them were posted in there by me, I only transferred credit where we had it in the ones previously.
i reposted everything we had in the salvage and mining, i don't know this stuff so feel free to unpin anything that isn't useful anymore.

Right so, im in New Babbage with a basic Multi Tool with mining thing, where or how can i start mining?
Bring a big backpack
It appears i also need better gear to handle the harsh environments
Yes
i dont know if i will have enough money to get what i need, so what is recommended to get first?
And where can i start looking for minerals nearby Babbage?
For the hand mineable items you want to look for gems.
Right, and where can i start looking for them?
Moons. All gems spawn on all moons (as far as I’m aware) but density of each varies significantly.
I think Aberdeen is rich in Hadanite? (Don’t quote me on that)
And with the multi tool i need to go down to the moon to search for it? Are there any kind of radars for the ships?
Just use any ship, preferably a fast one. Go to scan mode, make sure angle is set to max, and spam tab
Im using the Drake Cutter, with the IAE
Great! That works
And how do i set the distance for the scan?
Distance is always max. Use scroll to change angle in and out. Max angle is short range, but scans full circle around you, and minimum is SUPER long range, but only scans in a 2 degree cone at your front
oof
*assuming you are in scan mode
Yeah, it’s a bit complex to explain all the details
Short version:
go to moon
Scan mode
Look for cloud of dots, AKA “unidentified signature”
Narrow down scan angle and close distance
If it becomes a cluster of small signatures, land and mine em up!
Make sure to pick up gems
You are looking for small, egg-shaped rocks a little shorter than the player
If you are FPS mining (using the multi tool) only place you can really mine will be in caves
The rocks planet side are gonna be too big to mine by hand and you will need a ROC
It is
Where can i find em
Missing person contracts is one way to find them, you can also use google to help find them as they aren’t marked
But that being said, even in caves, there isn’t a lot normally and not all of them in caves you can break
I would save up the money to rent a ROC by doing other things and use the ROC to mine gems. But I don’t remember the rental cost
You can go to a refinery and look at the price to rent one there
ANd what is a ROC?
An ROC (Remote Ore Collector) is a specialized mining vehicle that you drive around to break gem rocks. (The ROC can only break gems and not normal ores as it's too weak to break normal ores)
You would take a ship that could fit the ROC, most popular ship to do that is a Cutty Black and fly around until you find a cluster of gem ores, drive it out and mine those rocks and drive the ROC back into the ship and repeat.
MB. I was under the impression that you could use the multitool on surface gems, just slower. Whoops!

Very quick guide and not everything is 100% correct in the video as it is a few patches behind. (Like keybinds to switch modes)
#starcitizen #starcitizengameplay #mining #rocmining
Hello people of the Verse. Since 3.23 brought a lot of new players to Star Citizen, I wanted to create a quick start guide to get into ROC Mining for anyone interested. ROC Mining is one of the easiest and most relaxing game loops and can get give you a nice way of making money, without needi...
Yeah, sadly not. FPS mining is for caves and even then, you will find rocks you can't break lol
FPS = Caves
ROC = Surface Gems
Prospector/Mole = Surface/Space Ores
Well, one upside. Caves mean you can find that one ultra rare gemstone
Not really
Only some caves have them are we are talking like a 0.2% chance to find them if I am right
It’s super rare, but it’s there
Yeah
It’s like the lottery
Janalite can also only spawn in Sand Caves
So you gotta find those
It was mainly put in the game to make others explore the new sand caves.
Prices are't up to date. But this is roughly where you can find gems
I thought they were in all caves, but sand caves had the highest spawn rate
You want to mine Hadanite and Aberdeen/Arial are your best places
There is a chance it was changed
But they used to only spawn in sand caves
So yeah, courier work first it is
Thanks for the new info.
And even then, desync and dc's are so annoying
Wiki still shows only sand caves
ROC mining IS def worth it. It’s one of the best ways to make early cash
When it wants to work lol
Not sure if selling is still bugged or not
But normally, you would do stuff to earn your way up to a ROC and Cutty Black Rental and from there, do ROC mining until you could get a Vulture
Interesting, but at the same time, what can i start with that is not affected negatively by the server issues and doesnt demand much money?
Not much early on tbh
You could try your hand in cargo hauling
as if you dc. you don't lose rep
You do lose the contract tho
You could do bunker missions or with IAE, you could also do merc/bounty work
The numbers aren't gonna be 100%
But looks like to rent a ROC for 1 day is around 2600
just playing again, do i need to unload the refined ore or sell from ship?
And a cutty black (If IAE wasn't a thing) around 61k-62k
Unload into the freight elevator
There is a auto unload feature, but it is buggy and either wont work or takes your cargo and doesnt pay you
tried doing once the merc (to kill some ships) and i got my ass handled to me (ship wasnt destroyed), and what is the bunker missions?
Wouldn't use it for now
thanks just doing it for the academy
I'm based out in MT, but in I believe the merc tab, there should be a contact called "defend occupants" it will bring you to a bunker and there will be friendly and hostile targets. You want to kill the hostile targets and not shoot the friendlies. Clear out all the hostile targets (Which are Nine Tail NPC's) and you will get so me credits for doing it. You can also loot their bodies for gear and sell the gear and sometimes find containers with gear in them that players might want to buy. Like railguns lol
The legal mission Defend Occupants tasks the player to go to a Security Post (Bunker) and help the MT Protection Service NPCs to clean-up the threatening group of Nine Tails (NPCs). Once the Security Post is cleaned-up, mission is complete and player has 15 minutes to leave the area. All crew members of a ship/vehicle must have the mission or el...
gonna look out for those
Can i accept more than one contract at a time?
Also saw some "clear claimjumper" work, is it worth it for someone with a basic ass pistol?
Only 1 will ever be up at a time for Defend Occupants
Prob not, but if you can kill 1 person, you can just steal their gun
But I haven't done that contract before, so I don't really know anything about it
Gonna do some other work then, thanks for all the help!
anyone know what size ship is the limit for the vulture to monch?
what size of crates enter 400i grid? since it's 42 I guess it can take 2x16scu plus some small box
clear claimjumpers is actually space combat I think. I belive it's also often bugged, although I have only tried it once and it was a couple patches ago. Didn't seem to work at that time though.
DO i even have a flashlight of sorts in the multi tool?
anda scanner?
so i jsut found a deposit of Hadarite but i cant seem to mine it, what do i do?
decided to do a clean salvage run, i'll take and sell every part of the ship
Hope theese don't blow up my ship 😄
It's more a game stability test than for profit
also damn M7A are not cheap
If you want to upgrade guns, maybe just get a salvage claim for 50 and get guns from a wreck 😄
wait... you can't store guns in elevators?
I call upon you @sonic forum for your indecisiveness rivals only few.
And for I am, also indecisive lol
never mind you can
Ok salvaging is a bitch... get a server error that deletes the wreck, can't do a clean salvage.
is the C2 broken? My rear hatch wont open. Shows a lock on the hatch button
Any idea how to actually unlock the rear door?
bro why are drugs still not showing up for me in sc trade tools
ive selected vice, the individual drugs, 'avoid hidden locations' disabled, still doesnt work
Anyone having issues scanning rocks for mining?
Can't get anything to scan, both with the ship scanner and with the lasers themselves
Also haven't played in a few months, so much has changed
anyone with a polaris has done the phase 1 cargo missions with it? does auto unloading work towards mission progress?
3x7
Auto loading is not an option for cargo missions
thanks
you mean 3x8 right? xD
no
explain then because 3x7=21 and there are no 7scu crates
...
Yes? where do you see 3x7 please?
wow ok. but I asked what crates size (1-2-4-8 etc...) it could take. not the surface
are there any known issues with Mining esp in a prospector in this patch?
where is best place to go mining with prospector rn?
You get a flashlight whenever you have a helmet on. It’s either L or T
pls dont tell me this size cargo doesnt fit
bc if so im gonna have 576 scu of unusable cargo
this the second time this has happened as well
the cateripllar is 4x24scu boxes with 2 scu boxes filling in the gaps and 4x16 scu boxes in the front (16 scu are broken, use 8x8scu instead and 2scu boxes filling in the gaps
check pinned messages all the cargo layouts are there
do you have a ship that holds 32 scu sized boxes?
are there even any?
c2 hercules
ive got 2.3m so i could maybe rent one out
RAFT
c1 spirit
freelancer max
connie taurus
well everythings being wiped anyways soon when 4.0 releases
would this not work?
im on free fly lol so yeah wont matter
you could try
whats the diff between traverse and detach mode on tractor beams
Detach can grab cargo off a grid
Traverse can move loose cargo and be used to pull you towards objects in space
beautiful cargo loading from me
Can it quantum jump like that? And save the crate?
nope, couldnt even close door on it
so i just left it behind
but the bottom crates made it sound and safe
You should test it.
iirc biggest vulture can munch is a msr
Thanks
Ok, thanks for the intel...
frieght elevators connect to the station/outpost inventory based on on who is interacting with it right? in other words i will always interact with my inventory through the freight elevator regardless of the hangar owner?

correct
this is prolly a dumb question but is there any word on if the mole will be getting bigger bags because in its current modle the saddlebags on the mole are smaller then what it can hold
Mass of unrefined metal ore < Mass of metal
Never thaught about it
Maybe the 16x boxes are 1% full
Did a full salvage, haven't sold scrap and couple missiles, but that is it for Salvaging a legal Freelancer wreck. Feels nice to clean up everything.
I was salvaging a Corsair before... couldn't scrap and crunch because server error took it away, but i made money anyways with 3x Omnisky weapons and the cargo.
For me the cargo update + salvage update is hitting hard right now
is supporting broken with tractors?
If you mean the tandem stuff it isn't in yet
How common are valuable cargo found in salvage contracts?
What are the more profitable ships to salvage? Looking for one that will turn a good profit from components and stuff
I don't know
so when mining and going to put in a work order which process should i use
Dynix is slow, but cheapest and highest yield
@small galleon sorry, just to avoid going off topic, however i really don’t know, i’m TOTALLY far from mining, do not even own a mining ship, just tried it every now and then with a Prospector, so the revenue from a good run with the Mole is unknown for me
@small galleon Mole payouts can be around 250k
But apart from this yes, the jump from a Prospector is definitely not as tough as the Vulture > Reclaimer, no doubts
Expected it to be way more profitable..
Ah yeah. This is why I really believe that mining should be the top 1 earner within the industrial sector
More steps, more time before the actual payout and then you get less than salvaging. My concern is they'll nerf salvaging rather than buffing the mining
With a crew, you think another 100k on top is a good estimate?
With crew you split the haul, but have faster runs
A good Mole run will take around an hour, if you're being picky about rocks
I haven't tested how lucrative it is to just mine the first cluster of T2 mats you see vs hunting for T1
How much coordination do you need between the laser operators? Or can they both see the bar?
The range per seat is great, you can easily coordinate all 3 lasers on a single rock if necessary. Or tackle separate rocks
There's no easy marker, except for swapping to extractor mode and lasering the desired rock (so you don't risk exploding something)
They can all see their own bar, but everyone's actions effect the bar. You really need to be talking and working together
But the bar they see is shared? It's the overall progress and not their progress
Man mining really is kidna whelming
Oh that bar. Sorry, yes
Yes, it's one bar that shows the status of the rock
Typically someone maxes out their laser first, then a second if needed, and let the 3rd feather things
It's cool because if you have a laser with mods to increase the charge window, when that laser turns on everyone will see the window get bigger, for example
It is a reasonable money maker which, for now, has a low risk of piracy since pirates can't do much with the cargo as is
So you can really set up all the lasers to compliment each other
Ah true. What's a prospector's payout look like? Half that?
If you can get the argo pod on it, yea
But the lower laser power may make you hunt for minable rocks more
Been thinking about mining since it looks like a great way to start a session. Mine, refine and do your own thing while waiting for the ores to be refined
T1 I assume are Gold, Bexalite, Quant, etc?
Yeah
Gold bexalite taranite
^
Quant is kinda in a class by itself
Yeah. Or the, ok we aren't being picky anymore grab everything mineral
Because 25 minutes is usually plenty of time to fill up and get back
Do we have any news about mining at 4.0? Anything changed
Is there a list of hauling missions ranks
I like ferron exchange
More expensive than dinyx, but still a good yield and 9 hrs instead of say 24
It's like 12k instead of 6k for a full prospector refine
Can’t find the ranks online
with the cargo update i try to get nice box dimensions, for example a 16x or 8x or 16x+8x stuff like that, and i chose the process where i pay smallest fees allways.
lol ok 16x+8x you just get a 24x box... XD
It honestly looks more soloable than MOLE, because all seats are in the same room a few meters apart
also it rounds up... so if it says 15.x, you will get a 16x box
Ofc not meant to be soloed, but a duo should be able to decently use an Arrastra
Anyone know what refining actually does? Can I get an ELI5?
Like the refining methods for processing ores?
I'v enever done mining.
And I got a Prospy, so I'm like, wondering what I'm doing lol
god i cant wait for the arrastra
After you go out mining with your Prospector, you have to bring your ore to a refinery to either sell the raw ore (About half the cost of what you would normally get for them) or you can go and get the raw ores processed. If you choose to process your ores, there are 9 different refining methods you can use, each one will have a different speed, cost and yield stat to them. Some will be slow as hell, cost next to nothing, and give a high yield, whole others will be super fast, cost a lot, but you won't get as much.
I normally go with Dinyx Solvention, becaise it is a high yield and low cost. It is very slow for speed though, big loads of raw ore can take 1-3 real life days to process, but for me, I am okay waiting.
IMO when you're well installed in your mining loop there's no reason not to go for Dinyx
I don't mind waiting personally, doesn't really change much besides having to go and move cargo a few days later. But everyone does it differently
But once your work order is done, you will need a cargo ship to move the processed ores onto and then you can go to a TDD to sell them.
So the refined ore is cargo that I have to move to the elevator?
In the current state of the game it is still auto loaded into your ship. You can either manually unload it, or risk auto unloading at the TDD (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). Supposedly soon the option is being added to send it to the freight elevator from the refinery (maybe in 4.0?, I'm not sure)
Is there a limit to the number of refinery jobs you can have going on at once?
I’ve had about a dozen going at once. Just want to make sure you don’t have any going when a patch happens, they’ll get lost.
I also want to assume if there was a limit, it just wouldn’t let you make a new work order until the old ones are claimed
But who knows
anyone know what the best srv loadout is?
When I was mining I used Ferron Exchange. Twice the cost of Dinyx, under half the refining time and the same yield. But as said above each to their own.
whats the best way to dip my toes into mining? dont really care about profit atm just getting a feel
Maybe find someone in Global to borrow a Prospector or ask to crew a Mole
Renting a Prospector was a good entry point for me. Paid off a day’s rent in a couple of hours. If I knew what I was doing it would have taken less time. Everything after that was profit and knowledge gained.
where you can sell 20scus of laranite that has been found?
Any goods that are stolen has to be sold at a NQA Terminal (No Questions Ask). For Laranite, I believe the only area is CRU-L5
The NQA terminal will be hidden, and they are red terminals with a cutty black and cargo coming out of it
thanks, ill try that next time. it just seemed like i couldnt sell it anywhere according to sc trade tools with the stolen filter on
every mission mean combat beacons back?
could 2 ROCs mine a big rock?
can you use docking only ships for hauling?
No idea. Wording seems very generalized. Risk and reward though makes me think legal bounty's will possibly have better payout. Maybe PVP bounty hunting might make a little bit more and salvaging might make less since it's a relatively safe job right now with decent payout
no you land any ship in your hanger and use the cargo elevators in there
so you cant really use like the polaris for hauling
docking is only really used for huge ships at stations that dont have that size hanger: like capital or xl ships like the polaris
there ought to be an unload service for docking ships tbh
even if it was a small fee or hell even a medium fee and a 2 min wait itd make hauling so much easier if you were using an xl ship
also help for stuff like the orion if you were for some reason selling at a station instead of planet side
No
try maybe 30 or 40 and maybe, still couldnt collect it tho
Even if you where some how able to break the rock, you couldn't collect the ore.
ROC's are only meant to Gem Mining. If you want to do any type of Ore Mining, you will need a ship
yeah
mole is fun
just wish they actually fixed the doors that didnt work instead of just removing them
Honestly, I am curious on how many ROC's it would take to break a rock lol
If they are even programmed to be able to at all.
wayyyyyyyyy too many
if we could kit em with better lasers itd probably be doable
they would be programmed to be able to cause they can scan the rocks
but my estimation would be 30 to 40 rocs for a big ol worthwhile rock
smaller like 8 scu rocks maybe 4 to 5
also any news on how pyro's going, still lookin like we getting it this month?
hyped to see what id be able to mine out there
Can you crack a reclaimer with a reclaimer?
Sounds like an improvement but with out dynamics it'll be pointless in the long run.
Yes
Agreed. The risk/reward principle might make PVP bounty's a bit more profitable and the less dangerous tasks might get make even less
You powered it on ?
On the Power MFD
whats the new meta for the prospector?
Was there ever one? Kinda depends on what you are mining and how small of a charge window you can tolerate
But nothing has changed
Anyone figure out how to get the Hauling IAE academy badge if they already did the starter mission and skipped the tutorial? Ive run about 15 missions and it wont show up
there used to be a year or 2 ago, perfect for solo mining quant. but it changed when salvaging came out, and I'm not sure what head/modual to use now
Gotcha. I usually run Helix + reiger + focus
You could swap the focus for something that gives more power, but my experience breaking bigger rocks just leaves you with smaller rocks that are very hard to rebreak with an OP laser
what size rocks should I look for with that setup?
Uhh, let's see if I can find my chart
thanks
thank you
Surge is arguably a better option in many cases. More power when you need it, less power for smaller rocks
But a bit harder to use
I might run surge just to get more quant per run. need to make some quick money today
Yes, there is even red beam but it does not latch to anything
Worth a try. The instability hit on the surge can make it really hard on quant though
Players will just adapt to best reward and then cig won't fix anything for another 2 years. And they'll somehow leave the latest thing broken in the meantime. Like hull cargo elevators, reclaimer hold, etc
Anyone with a mole able to help out with bag donation to a prospector?
Mercury Star Runner Cargo Discussion:
Depicted here is 96 SCU of Nitrogen in 4, 8, and 16 SCU containers for Save Stanton Phase 4. The optimal cargo container loadout for the MSR is 3x16, placed longwise fore to aft side by side, then a fourth 16 SCU container laid beamwise aft of those three like the one you see here. Then, an 8 SCU container laid aft of one of the 16 SCU containers, then 9x4 SCU containers laid atop all of these.
That is 108 SCU on the grid.
Off grid, another 16 SCU container can be placed on the deck, aft of all this toward the starboard bulkhead, with a 4 SCU container atop it, if you are feeling bold enough to stack items NOT on the cargo grid. And if you want, you can shift that stacked 4 SCU container to the starboard and stack a second 4 SCU container atop that aftmost 16 SCU container.
Making for 132 SCU maximum "safe enough" capacity without impingement on walkways.
If you want total theoretical maximum, yet another 4 SCU container could be placed in the aft port corner, and a 4 SCU container stacked on its side next to the elevator, and another 2 SCU container stacked atop that, for another 10 SCU.
Making for a theoretical 142 SCU maximum load in the MSR, but on your own responsibility. AS ALWAYS.
And there is yet more if you want to get stacky with 1 SCU containers. 150 SCU pretty do-able it looks like.
Not bad for a ship rated for 114 SCU cargo in the ASOP terminal.
Can you still get the free rental at IAE? I pulled bags off of a rental from there.
Oh yeah, ty for the tip.
does anyone know how I deliver my cargo to ArcCorp Mining area 141? I don't see a freight elevator anywhere.
did they change the mining mode? because i cannot aim the mining head anywhere even with different aiming modes with 'G'? it just fires locked straight
that's mighty unfortunate
while in mining mode
yeah mining is busted
targeting rock shows zero charge, then alerts me to overcharge when nothing shows in prospector
but HEY try mining for IAE Academy
lol
laser power control is boost, so you are idle boosting while changing laser power, which doesnt show any change in charge, AND changes which gun mapping 1-2 you are using
it isn't. you are just experiencing lag
I was mining with the prospector 2 days ago with zero major issues
i have tried on 2 different days and server shards
weird. Not sure what's up then.
i also sat in my prospector just aiming my locked-straight mining head and trying to wing it with no charging level showing for 5min
only for the rock to blow up
How do you properly scan for asteroids?
Awesome. I heard loads from Pyro back to Stanton will pay a premium so something like this be real good idea.
Yeah it'll be good to have a medium cargo ship with some legs.
is ther ever a point anymore to even consider the lancet mining head?
with the cargo elevators do i have to unload the reclaimer to sell
For the most part, yes.
There is a auto unload feature, where you can sell cargo that is on the ships grid without taking it out of the ship. But it is really buggy and either it is gonna work, not gonna work or will take your cargo and not pay you. So I wouldn't use it personally
mining worked fine for me
was it a small rock and did it have a purple outline?
also auto unload worked fine for my reclaimer
no, it was yellow/orange, as purple/blue is harvestable
when i am salvaging with the reclaimer, do i need to store all the crates in the hanger's warehouse or can I just leave it inside and sell directly ?
You can leave it in, but it will cost you a little when selling
by leave it in u mean i still have to actually create the crates using the filler station? also does it have to be snapped on to the grid or just anywhere inside?
and u got a rough estimation on how much it costs
Anybody here down to mole mine w me someday? I’ve come across so biggins that are too big for solo, I’m on usually weekend nights
Hey all, how would I be able to tell a rock from a panel when scanning?
New to the game so assume my knowledge is beyond basic ❤️
Anything that can be multiplied by 2000 is a panel field
Where do I see the 2000 number? This is the part I'm having difficulty with
You have to go into scanning mode and use the radar ping
I'm in scanning mode and hitting TAB (sends out a pulse) but it just says >> READY TO SCAN <<
Don’t look at that
You see the number appear in the middle-top-ish of your screen
When you point your nose at a field
Is it that number?
Correct!
Perfect! Glad I'm looking at the right part of the screen haha
Thanks! is there a particular place that's good for doing it? Currently several hundred KM from CRUL2
Ehh, not that I have noticed?
You just have to get lucky
Sometimes you find a field with small panels, the next one can have 3-4 big ones
Any early numbers for the selling price of RMC in the eptu patch?
7-8k lol
Well I took the ladder whilst in QT and fell out of my ship through a solid wall >.> yikes
Yeah, ladders and elevators aren’t your friend in QT lol
Yep, lost all the salvage I'd been sorting so that's a pain in the ass
oh well, was only 7SCU of it so not the end of the world just an annoyance
well suppose it could be worse....thx...
My rule of thumb whenever I have any type of cargo in any ship is to not leave the pilot seat in QT.
Happened to me as I was flying my Cat, in cruise mode, away from a planet landing zone, waiting to break atmo. I thought I could go walk around while waiting to hit orbit. Ended up outside the ship, falling back into the gravity well, as my full load of cargo sped away from me
you just have to laugh in a situation like that
I feel like most of us who fly long haul cargo have had that happen at least once. The urge to get up and walk around while in a long-ass QT is strong haha.
Does anyone know if the Investigation, Search, Research, and Maintenance professions progress to higher paying missions or do they always stay the same?
How does hauling/salvaging work with a friend? Does the hauler put it in his freight elevator?
@sonic forum
Anyone know?
If you mean the unloading process, my slave comes with me into my hangar, helps me unloading everything into my freight elevator, then i send everything down into my storage
I go selling, we split profits
Easy as that
LOL what a casual way to throw slave around lmao
Can I fracture if a ship is powered on?
Negative bruh
But you can easily pop it if it’s empty, better if it has the shields down
Or you can get inside and turning the thing off
Well of course be sure there isn’t anyone inside, but if the comm array is down usually i do not really waste my precious time checking for occupants

I get up and walk around irl instead 🙂
Whoever owns the hangar
Yeah now I just go make some tea. Or just use my C1!
Feel free to add me in game, name is travissgrey
Never tried the Mole (i know how to mine) so i would be happy to come
I’m a bit unwell those last days but i will be on soon 🙌🏻
Okay sounds good! Even 1 person should make a huge difference
No doubts!
can someone explain to me what the units means ?
Oh get well soon brother.
Also I'm down as a crew member
Depends where you look at.
At some places, one Unit is one gem.
At others, one Unit is one SCU. Depends on what side of the screen you look at and what the commodities are
sometimes one unit is a 1/8 SCU package as well
who ever pushes the button to send it down. it goes to thier warehouse. they can also call it up and then have you send it down if you want to transfer goods.
When it comes to salvage, whoever owns the salvage ship, the cargo will belong to them. That being said, as long as you are in a party, you will be able to sell the cargo no problem, once the party is disbanded, the cargo will become stolen.
But if the party is reformed, it becomes legal cargo again
Yes, this is true lol
Forgot to mention that
is trading with the Hull C still bugged?
How/where do you sell weevil eggs this patch?
did you try grim hex?
I mean like do i need to use freight elevators or anything or is it the same as before?
yea, put it in the cargo elevator and send it down
than you can sell it at the terminal at the admin office
same as last few patches, can sell at scrap yards, only diff is theres now elevators and you have to unload it
.... you dont sell eggs at grim hex. Please dont give misinformation
Go to 1 of the scrapyards, find the elevator, lock the eggs onto elevator send down. Middle of scrap theres a place to sell
cant sell anywhere, elevators dont take 32, only up to 24scu
dude read i said: try
doesn't mean i was sure
You cant sell any 32scu drugs except for maze. Just throw it away
If you dont know the info then dont say anything?
@ocean compass get off my as, and get a life
Theres a maybe chance to split it up, if it was locked to a ship when it is hard deathed. Low chance but chance
Lesson in life young padawan, if you dont have the info/ dont know, dont say anything. Silence is more, a lot of times. Dont be so triggered when you get called out for giving misinfo
Like Haike said, you don’t. That’s trash unfortunately, waste it
Is planetside mining back yet?
there's a chance to break it up when you hard death a ship. done it exactly ONCE :p
No official/intended way at a freight manager yet
They plan to add that at some point
anyway i found it amusing that Phantom95 sent me a DM asking me to f off lol
Thanks brother, doing my best.
In order to spend some time now ima go fitting my Taurus and spending 500k AUEC.
all right I'm curious, what's everyone's favorite starter ship. True starters only, the sort you get with a ~$50-60 game package. I have kind of liked the cutter from flying it a bit during IAE...
with a wipe coming up, the starter is going to be relevent again for a lot of people 🙂
Intrepid prob best starter package atm. I liked nomad, but its passed the $60 budget you set
125A, 300i, Intrepid, Mustang Beta
yeah, I kinda liked the intrepid as well when I tried it out. At least in theory. The cargo is a bit restrictive. I mean 8scu is great, but the two separate lifts are a little weird. "cool". But kinda weird. I had no trouble running an MRT in it though, so that's decent
also a good option
Hey @minor needle what can fit in a 315p?
The fact that no one here is proposing the Cutter gets me extremely surprised?
I got myself to the Vulture with it starting from zero. Not very good for combat, actually that’s not good at all, but for some light PVE it works. Plus it has very cool interiors and you can easily carry stuff around, including an ATLS
Awesome, cheap and comfortable vessel. Loved it
I just am not a fan of the way it looks XD Perfectly fine ship though and excellent starter
Alex did say "favorite"
Oh sorry i also forgot about the 1M quantum fuel, which is not a joke at all for that small ship!
@humble merlin i agree, the look it’s not the best thing, i love it, but it’s not for everyone i guess
After all, it’s a Drake
my initial starter was a 300i
i loved the white blue lights inside it
started my love for RSI + crusader ships
I cannot help but agreeing with it!
this is one thing I noticed for sure. For example, my Aurora (and most other ships in this category) can't jump from Crusader to Microtech. The Cutter can. Yes it's a face only it's mother could love. But also I'm pretty sure it will hold 16 SCU if you are careful loading. 12 for sure. Which makes it a viable way to make money with low level hauling missions.
the thing I like about Drake ships is... They all feel like Belter ships. If you get that reference.
16 will fit without problems. Did it more than once. But nothing more
Which is still more than good
Has anyone had issues with cargo elevators bringing up cargo bought where when you try to bring it up it gets stuck and is permanently blocked
I'm biased about the Titan. It was my starter 5 years ago. Looks great but dated now. Cutter I like cause of Drake aesthetics
Yes. Not to mention that i already had every possible issue on the freight elevators.
If this happened to you on a mining outpost, there is no workaround from what i know.
But there is a way to avoid wasting your precious AUEC into the void.
The loop should be something like this:
- get off your ship
- test the elevators, find an operative one (that doesn’t show a permanent transferring to warehouse)
- go to the storage, buy some waste. They are basically always available
- return to the working elevator and try getting the waste up and down.
- if everything works, you can start buying your own commodities, knowing that the elevator works correctly.
Following this procedure i lost ZERO cargo during the last month.
It’s a bit tedious but it’s worse when you buy 700k of gold and you loose it because the elevators gets stuck and despawn your crates as soon as you try to get em up.
This is the loop I am in. I have 250 SCU of gold I cant retrieve
I do not remember if your stuff remains saved into that outpost, but what you can do is logging off not far from that outpost (use your ship bed) and keep logging back switching server, until you find one where the elevators are working. One time i solved the issue this way.
You got no other choice in any case because a clogged elevator WON’T start working again in the same server.
My friend has the same problem. He has 120k profit of gold waiting for him but the elevators dont come up
Always test em before buying!! ALWAYS
Once borked, forever borked?
On that server yes, absolutely
If you got a bed go at 20 kilometers, land and log off
Try logging back again and go to the outpost
Maybe the elevator now works
maybe
There's a chance server hoping can take unbork?
Yes!
I'll tell em hahahaha
Only way for it to become unborked is for a server reset, which only happens with major patches. So you would most likely lose the cargo anyways
Also, if they don’t fix this before 4.0, that is gonna become a pain to deal with
Do we have any info about 4.0 economy change aside from "Price change"
I'm really curious if all they did was prices and payout changes. Is there a deeper economy change? Supply/demand changes
lots of new mineables and commodities
Dont be shit talking drake i swear travis
I don’t!! I love Drake!
I mean that they are quite different ships, you love em or you hate em!
good man
oh yeah some youtuber found a place in pyro that sells weevil eggs
Yeah I think Weevil egg will probably be way less profitable. That or you haul them all the way back to Stanton
Columbian Drug Cartel type activities
Like drug runs we had before
Piracy is gonna go through the roof. I hope bounty markers will be fixed during 4.0 too. Balance both sides and what not
No comm arrays in pyro
Does someone have the google doc of this so we can always be updated of it? Since it doesn't have the starlancer or intrepid.
i don't see the Polaris on it either
You can easily find it with the OP name.
I'm waiting for the Polaris to be added and the 890J grid to be fixed by OP (soon) to edit here
Interdict my Hornet and get killed!
Oh right, I forgot they use gitlab and not github/google docs: https://gitlab.com/Erecco/a-study-on-quantum-travel-time/-/blob/7c10b58a5ebf11fe9a1f5cb4fe9e935ce919588a/misc/3_24_Ship_Cargo_Grid_Reference_Sheet_V1_3.pdf
Or reddit, or Spectrum too
And 890J still wrong
First result is the one I linked here, above.
Why is mining in the prospector so bad in 3.24 and does anyone think this will improve with further economic balancing? Or will Prospector always be a ship where you can rarely find rocks the right size to crack unless you work with a team of other Prospectors?
Oh
I think its cargo capacity is also very low for its value
hi there a quick question... ive been playing around with the rentable starlancer today saw on the page it has a Cargy Capacity of 224 is that meant in SCU? cause i cant seem to fit 224 or my placing was bad
It's the capacity of the cargo grid.
The ship can fit more if you use off grid space.
3scu high in the back
It's tight but it fits
Ye thats what i wanted to know ty
Okay ty o7
Distro center Pads in action, in case anyone was wondering if they can be used:

And yes, they have NPC Guards.
For hauling missions - i encountered a location that was part of a mission, but there was no cargo elevator. Was the location just bugged? Was the mission bugged (like it gave a bad pickup/dropoff location)? It was an outpost on Yela I think - it was either ArcCorp Mining Area 141 or Shubin Mining SCD-1.
You'd expect a mining location to have a cargo elevator. How else would they move/sell scu
I've been to more than a few bugged locations. Couldn't find a cave entrance for an investigation because it never rendered in. Only a transparent hole in the ground
141 has missing freight elevators aye
Is it possible to sell one kind of unrefined material?
Its all or nothing from what I know. If we are talking about minable materials
Thanks, first time doing mining with a prospector
I thought i can sell unrefined titanium and go mine better rocks 😅
All or nothing is a lie. For refinding at least, you can refine 1 ore, but the rest will be trashed
Not sure about selling it raw. I believe it is the same, but i haven't done it for some time now
Selling raw ore is all or nothing
How can I check the prices before i do refine 🙂
I want to make sure if it’s worth it to go with the fast/high yield or should i just stay with slow/high yield
Note: when I said fast I didn’t mean the 30k cost
There is one for 10k and 8h time
Look at the raw ore selling kiosk. Price you see there is about half what you get from refining it.
check redmonster mining cheatsheet
then you know what does each process does
most people does dinyx, cheapest and highest yield, but slowest
theres a highest yield and fastest, but expensive, i forgot name
difference is usually 24hrs vs 8hrs
I liked the ferron one
Cheap and faster Also high yield
Ferron will cost about twice what dinyx will. When I was renting a cargo ship for transporting refined or, I would do about six jobs with the slow one, and then another six with the faster one so I could make the best use of a day’s rental on the cargo ship.
By jobs you mean contracts?
Refining jobs.
Thank you guys so much
can only the HULL series do the cargo loading outside the station in 3.24?
I did this. Jumped to many different servers across zones. Found one that would work.
is the mole good if its just two people, is it worth picking up if its just me and a buddy?
Can you put 32SCU cargo boxes on the RAFT or just 8s?
It's meant for 32 SCU containers
thanks, I couldn't find anything relevant to make sure that was the case but that's what I thought
I just found a video of someone stacking 8s on it
Check pins for cargo grid layouts
I am melting and switching ships like every week lmao, just really trying to find my dig of playstyles
sameish got like 350USD of store credits to mess with
I'm gonna stay where I'm at right now
I've got $240 because of a drunken order a couple years ago
I meant to upgrade my original starter pack for like $25 but I was looking at other ships and had a freelancer in my cart
💀
Right now I have an Arrow and a Gladiator and I'm enjoying combat
still better than me and GM Pioneer
Both of my groups have carriers so, I ended up being a combat girl. Looking to buy another ship for cargo but probably with in-game currency
I originally had pledged the railen but after using the loaner Taurus I realized that large scale cargo needs PEOPLE
Even at Taurus level you need 2-3 people to handle it effectively
Funny you say this, when it is the #1 best pick for doing ERT solo
I just mean for handling the load of cargo
Need someone unloading/loading while another person goes to handle admin
One person can do it. Yeah, it's not as fast as two people, but you could say that with any ship that can have cargo, even a Titan
we get any word on refining besides soon tm recently?
(I Know this is not a star citizen video, but its relevant I swear, Its just the best way I could represent my ideas)
This is my concept of how the reclaimer cargo bay should be, the entire back should just be really tall "shelves" of containers (A grid thick enough to have the small end of a 16 or 24 scu container be on the grid, like in the video), and then they get lowered out the bottom of the ship, then as you remove the lower containers, the frame gets folded up to allow the rest to keep moving down.
When i did that @pallid talon and @small galleon called me crazy!
Feel you, this is the way!
Its definitley not a fleshed out idea (duh) but its just something that came to mind.
It's an option as long as you don't care about LTI or buyback tokens XD
Don’t care about LTI, everything i got has a 10 years insurance, which for me is absolutely perfect because i mean…… that’s not 10 months.
Life can and will change in 10 years, i do not really need to plan so much ahead of time
Clearly after this IAE won’t be so easy to catch a 10 years on everything so i’m switching and trying now that i can
I've never had LTI
You have an uncanny ability to talk shit to a ship and somehow convince me to buy simultaneously. Thats something only a crazy man would do!
Shut up noob
With salvage claims, I've seen videos of people running it and there have been things as big as Hammerheads and Hercules C2s, biggest I've found is the Connie though, have they changed them or are these just super rare to turn up? I assume super rare but want to check from people who may know! 🙂
I've only done unverified salvage contracts since they're just around Yela most of the time. I've gotten a couple Caterpillars but no Hammerhead or C2 yet. @sonic forum Might be able to answer this better!
Ah ok, with the unverified it says you have X minutes, is that from when you accept it, or when you arrive or even when you get within the 15km before it "appears"? Thank you for the response so far! 🙂
Trust me, not rare at all. You just got unlucky. The HH appears quite often. If you don’t see it, just accept what you get and do that, during the salvaging check again every now and then, with a bit of luck you’ll get the contract (it gets refreshed every 10/15 mins)
Ahhhhh fair enough! Been checking often and have the 50k claims at least so just keep trying I guess?
You are checking the unverified contracts, right?
DO NOT pay for the salvaging contracts!
I've been using the paid ones, oops I guess that's the wrong move!
That’s the problem here
OK that makes more sense then, so with the unverified then with the time limit when does that start?
So the HH appears often in the unverified contracts, together with some Connie’s, some Cutlass, Anvil Valkyries and whatever
Get ONLY the ones where you get paid and not the contrary. You got 60 minutes, countdown starts immediately after you accept the contract
With the HH, you have all the time to fill 37 SCUs of material (more or less 24 in the cargo bay, 13 in the buffer)
Just try to be there and start around 50 minutes remaining, you should end the work at 10 minutes left
Gotcha, I'm using a solo reclaimer for this, I'm assuming that's the right call (obviously faster if I have a buddy or two online but that's no guarantee)
Oh, you are with the Reclaimer? This changes everything!
Yeah started with the vulture which was fun, but upgraded because Aliens is my favourite film haha XD
You can get the RMC only if you want more money. Otherwise you can swallow the entire HH at ease without even giving a single F about staying there. You are looking at about 240 SCUs of construction material
Which is.. a good profit. In 3 minutes
that doesn't sell for much though does it? Or do I literally need to fill the hold up?
Oh damn!
Take note that you need a more complicated loop
You cannot land the Reclaimer where they will buy the construction material
You need to unload it at location 1
And moving the material to location 2 with another ship
I've been selling at Orison on recommendation from a friend, is that not the place then?
It is for RMC
but not for the construction material
gotcha
So if you get the RMC, go definitely to Orison because it’s also the safest route
If you get the construction materials, you need what i said above

beautiful, thank you! 🙂
Have fun!
I'll work out a good place to sell, I just need to get the hang of auto-loading and stuff (again seen Youtubers selling it all at Orison so clearly something's changed since then!)
Yeah the CM is definitely not sellable at Orison, tried myself 3 days ago, so i unloaded everything there, and moved it with the Zeus to one of those places
Take note: New Babbage was NOT WORKING. So probably the website forgot to update.
Ahhhhh fair enough, I assume you have to unload manually with this? If so any tips for unloading the reclaimer?
For sure
Pilot seat, open all doors, you’ll see the poop chute door on the back of the ship opening
Only way to open that small door is using the OPEN ALL DOORS command from the pilot seat
At that point, follow this video, because it’s way easier than explaining it:
Manually transferring 32SCU from the Reclaimer's salvage grid to Orison's warehouse.
Mostly uploaded for my own memories, but perhaps you may enjoy too. You can find more Star Citizen highlights and playlists on my channel :)
Works like a charm, once you get it
is this new? It used to be for sure
Yeah it’s for sure a change happened during the last patch.
That explains it, Farrister's video was a few months old
thought that was new enough!
The loop now is a bit longer but it’s definitely worth it. You just need to spend some time loading and unloading..
That makes sense! So I guess I should grab a catepillar or something for the hauling?
and is it recycled or construction I sell at Orison? Just so I unload the right stuff!
RMC, so the recycled, that goes to Orison 🙌🏻
About the CM, a Caterpillar? Would be a good choice for sure, if you have a good cargo
Otherwise a Starlancer. If you have a smaller ship instead, you will need to go for multiple trips
I have a Zeus CL as a main cargo now, so i needed more than one trip
(Which is not bad at all, because if something bad happens i won’t loose everything in a single time.)
Sounds like a plan!
I assume I'm best to use the biggest containers I can to reduce time
ALWAYS print the 16 SCU ones
Then, when you got a bit of material left, you can print a couple of size 8 or 4 or 2
But prioritize the 16s
More than everything because the poop chute door of the Reclaimer seems to be meant to unload the size 16s containers
When you try to unload the size 8, it gets a bit.. weird
Causing problems
Gotcha, I seem to have gotten some stuff stuck in the poop chute oops haha XD
not a huge issue, I'm just getting used to it before it's loaded properly so I know what I'm doing when I have more cargo
Throw the boxes down IN THE RIGHT WAY (follow the video i sent you) and KEEP throwing them down, do not mind em making a lot of noise / being stuck, totally normal!
Just keep throwing em down and they will push themselves!
One is literally wedged between the poop shoot and the roof of the underside of the ship, it's kinda funny!
worst case if that one case is bugged I don't mind doing some server jank to fix it
one 16SCU box of con material will be fine
When you sent everyone of them outside, at the end you will still have 1/2 containers stuck, which is normal
Go to the pilot seat
also what QT drive would you recommend for the reclaimer? I see people mention the Erebus, the Atlas and the TS-2
Open / close / open / close that door some times
And they will go down by themselves

Gotcha, will try that!
Me personally? I do not have the Reclaimer anymore now but i got an Erebos for it, civilian grade A, because it has the fastest cooldown timer
Mkay, will look at sourcing that!
You know the ship it’s already slow, and it can cover big distances, since i used it mainly for money loops, i prioritized going as fast as possible, cutting every corner
So QT with a fast cooldown and that’s it
Then, i changed only the salvaging heads. Abrades on both heads
Because YES, absolutely, abrade = GOOD
Travis nub reclaimer user smh
Yeh its gorgeous and what
@sonic forum it seems you can sell at Orison, just sold it now
that's the construction material
nowhere near a full load, but just enough to at least get the hang of things
although I did just get an anti-cheat detected an error crash after a final attempt to push the stuck box free, I guess that flagged that which is fair!
you can sell CM at orison, at the tdd by cousin crows
admin terminal (yes, by cousin crows)
oh yeah admin
I was scraping and got the anti cheat boot out also! What the heck.
I'm personally waiting for the 4.0 changes. Might just get the Reclaimer for CM. What's the duration per CM haul like? @sonic forum
Wat…..
How
It was definitely not working when i tried last time
If it works that’s awesome
I tried only one time, maybe i got a clogged / bugged server or something, thanks for telling me btw
You mean how much time you need to gather it? It’s quite fast, to cripple an Hammerhead you need more or less 3 minutes, then you need to print 240 SCUs of material in the salvage area of the Reclaimer
It’s not a long process honestly
Way faster if you got at least another guy with you
So about 300k for 5 minutes work? Kinda nuts
you were trying at the admin office not at the TDD right? Just checking
I totally forgot, but i think yes
What do you think of this rework of the Railen? #star-citizen message
Since absolutely no one commented/replied on it, and it was completely ignored.
@sonic forum I'm going to CCU my Taurus to the SL Max. Looks like, I'm the loco one now up in this gang
It's all good! I wanted to let you know especially as it sounded like you were taking extra steps because of it so that's hopefully not needed anymore!
How was the salvage sesh?
Very much appreciated. Yes i indeed took extra steps, unfortunately. Now i’m not flying the Reclaimer anymore so doesn’t matter but for sure you helped other guys in here. So good catch
I would like to share an opinion but i’m entirely UNEDUCATED about the Railen. The only thing that i know it’s his purpose as a medium freight. I will take a better look at it
I got the Taurus with game credits, considering the absolutely horrifying interiors, for sure you will be happy to see the living space of the Starmax..
About the rest.. well, you will tell me
Hope you’ll like it, let me know!
This sounds very..malicious
Nono i’m serious. As i told you, except the stuff that I haven’t really appreciated, it’s an awesome all rounder vessel. It’s personal, so spend some time with it
I will definitely let you know for sure!
Worst case scenario, I get 40 minutes of break for 5 minutes of playtime when I crash.
lmfao let's not even talk about it, i had to reset my character today for the first time, but very cool that you do not loose anything
Crazy that the expedited time for the SL Max is the same default retrieval time for the Taurus
I must call upon the wisdom of the professionals... I need to decide between a CCU chain for $168 for a Taurus.... or the exact same amount $168 for the Starlancer Max. I like the multi roll of the Taurus but I also like that the Max can carry both a full load of cargo and a vehicle ...but she ugly
Rush Microtech and rent both of em! You still have time
It will be for sure a good way to test em first hand
eww.. I gotta step foot in New Babbage and get stuck in the elevators
Well considering that i see your point very well
Now wait a min
New Bab is a nice place
it is a lovely place, if only the elevators to the hangars weren't run by a hamster having a heart attack on a wheel
@sonic forum I'll test them both out, its a good point I should fly them both. I think the max just got hit with a nerf bat too
My opinion is based on several factors. And since you asked i will be more precise, i would go Taurus because it has a cool aesthetic, better cockpit visibility (even if not really top notch), 4 MFDs always in sight, better maneuverability, MORE SPEED, same amount of shields, bigger health pool, less general mass, same capability of carrying vehicles, extremely strong and way more useful during fights, more than good cargo capacity, more QT fuel, better insurance claim time.
Why i would go for the Starmax? Better interiors and bigger cargo grid. Done
any chance mfds, speed and QT fuel will be balanced in favor for the max sooner than later?
Nothing is confirmed but if you ask me i’ll tell you that soon or later the nerf hammer will hit the Taurus
It’s too good to be true.
one would think the more speed/maneuverability on the Taurus is probably due in part its half the weight of the Max
Oh sorry, i forgot the tractor beam. Which for the Taurus is one of the coolest ones ever, since we are into #industrial-professions
visibility just comes down to Misc being lovers of Robocop .... lawd have mercy they love slits
not gonna say the max doesnt have flaws...they are a lot, but for the current ccu chains its still a great deal i think
one could argue the Max can just fit an atlas in its spare hangar space and tractor isn't needed but you can't use the Atlas well in a space walk scenario
Without mentioning that at present time the ATLS can easily kill you inside the starlancer, due to a bug where you get shot forward at light speed if you enter it while it’s stored in the rear cargo bay
oh thats a new one on me, got any fun video clips?
Happened to me as well two times and there is a funny video on reddit, let me see if i find it again.
that kinda adds to the fun factor of the ship
seriously, lot of game devs charge extra for the anal railgun special
I'm a professional cheapskate. Not the professional you want. But a professional nonetheless.
My 2 cents: The Taurus is probably the most suggested and recommended ship from the community for all the right reasons. It's the best all rounder, maybe even too good. It does bounty hunting missions easily, it's almost tailored made for Vaughn missions (Makes easy work with Vaugh missions and the cargo to carry the loot after), doesn't fly too sluggish, etc.
But the reasons that I upgraded my Zeus to it is the same reason why I don't mind if and/or when they nerf it. It makes ships that is on paper, a tier above it obsolete. I think the case is even made a lot clearer with the release of the SL Max.
The SL Max has only 50 more cargo capacity than the Taurus while having a worse everything else.
hey for doing a circular trade route I should avoid planetary stops right? (excluding cities) I've only tried a couple times but every time so far, the cargo elevators are busted in one way or another
I'm upgrading the Taurus to the SL Max because I feel like it benefits playing with friends a little bit more. It gets them involved more. They can take care of the bounties and I can just swoop in for the loot rather than them just sitting around the Taurus waiting to EVA and haul the loot then sit around again till we reach a scrapyard or something.
Biggest gripe with the Starlancer Max though, 40 minutes claim time.
Sometimes the freight elevator works. But OFTEN, they don’t. You can easily try going into planetary outposts, simply be aware that you might waste your time. I haven’t removed them from my routes only because of this
@quasi forge
but if I'm trying to be time efficient, probably best to avoid them for now?
ive been noticing the cargo lifts are getting stuck on the loading screen and I have to move the ship to another one
By the way analysis more than realistic and i agree, it’s TRVS APPROVED
Yes, definitely. But you might step on some good profits. Plan accordingly.
I tried doing a 4 stop route a couple nights ago, I tried all elevators on the same moon outpost on maybe like 3 different servers and they were all broken lol
@small galleon about your taurus review
(using sc trade for the route)
thank you and @Nova for the pros and cons, i think i go for the max because i like the asthetics and because i have few friends for the bigger turrets ...i dont mind the cons
quite new to actual trading instead of those hauling missions, I love the raft even if its a little miffy at times, but the thing that was killing me is that it's cargo grid stacks upwards, so if you're trying to load anything < 8scu its an absolute pain
Maybe do that only every now and then. If you try to stay efficient avoid planetary outposts, if you are out for a longer run, definitely worth a try, especially if you plan on trading gold and similar
it is a beautiful ship, nice interior too imo
love the drop doors on the sides
Fuck yes!
Also, a great 40 minute break if you or the game crashes your ship. Make sure you got another ship to kill time with or a friend to drive you around for a while.
You know what, reduce the retrieval time significantly. That's it. That's all I want for Christmas
You already got the Max?
Not yet. Staring at the button as we speak. Thinking about the 40 minutes
Yeah that’s bad. The only way for now is avoiding loosing it and getting an Ursa med in the rear bay, at least if you die during a run you can respawn directly inside.
If you loose it… yeah, 40 minutes of fun
honestly multi crew ships on the larger medium and up size really should already come with some kind of med bay, even if its just nothing more than a cryo pod style in the wall somewhere instead of a suit locker
What? You want a med bay into the MAX? Then how CIG will be able to sell the TAC???? They need to eat as well!!!!

doesn't need to be a whole bay, it can just be a med pod enough to stabilize you till the next stop but not regenerate that missing leg. We can make it a tier system of healthcare
surely there are freak accidents with moving cargo
It is for sure a reasonable point but from a commercial point of view i can easily see why they won’t do that.
It would simply interfere with dedicated medical vessels plus the tactical version of the MAX, which is the TAC
According to some interviews that i saw, it seems that respawning into rovers / ships will definitely NOT be a thing forever, enjoy it now that you can..
Im mining with a prospector and nothing is going to the cargo after I harvest
Anyone know why and how to fix it?
It was working for you before and now it isn’t?
Could be the ship took some damage and needs to be repaired at your hangar.
I end task the game twice, now it’s working
Thanks
If i store my ship and there is cargo containers inside it
Will the containers disappear or stay inside it?
*The ship is rented
I was happy to sell my first refined materials, I rented a cargo ship and flew to TDD
only to discover that I can’t move the containers with pyro multi-tool because it’s heavy
They will stay
Thanks
Each of the cargo arms on the Raft is 16x2 in size. If you're hauling 8scu boxes then you can't stack them on top of each other. Other wise stand at the rear of the raft and just tractor your cargo to the spot you want. When tractoring the boxes just magically go through the arms. When the holo image is where you want it turn off tractor.
Quite easy
the arms are 32 x 1
I wish it was x 2
unless you mean 16 x 2 lengthwise
then yes
I thought that is what I said
then yeah, the issue is just with 4scu, 2scu and 1scu's, the cargo grid right now is stacked from the bottom to the top instead of the other way around, which would make sense with its grid layout
that was the issue I was having
real tough to squeeze them above
I haven't tried to stack vertically for a while. Last time I did it seemed to work either way I stacked up or down. It might have changed
just checking, you know RMC is sold at TDD while CM is sold at Admin right?
ever since i have been making big boy bucks, i only use maxlift 😛
I have a nice collection of the different colored multi tools but I only use the max lift.
For reclaimer should i just focus on breaking ship for faster gameplay loop with decent auec
ah could be, as of right now theres only the placement outline on the bottom row, and either its extremely difficult to line it up perfectly, or its pretty much impossible to squeeze a box on top (in certain spots, theres a few spots where you can get it close enough to pop in)
Now i know, got educated by other guys above, i was probably doing it the wrong way 😞 no one’s perfect
@ocean compass
So was doing the Reclaimer drill with 2 friends last night (was going well, scraping away) and we got to fracturing. As I re positioned the ship my mate extended the claw, there was a sudden freeze and the reclaimer glowed purple with a purple outline then we were just in space and the ship vanished. Literally what happened we have no clue! Anyone encountered an issue like that before?
Yeh, we were well clear of the wreck so didn't clip, I somehow think we salvaged ourself which is hilarious
annoying, but hilarious
really weird
purple means collision issue and ship goes bye bye
usually the offending ship/vehicle which is inside of another
seems like a bug if it happened due to the claw
Ohhhh yeaaaaa
I forgot about that
yea, the purple glow that comes up when the game is going to delete your craft from existence because its freaking out
yea thats most likely what happened
I have a love hate relationship with the reclaimer, its awesome, makes loads of money, and is one of the ships with the most character in the game, but my god is it a pain in the ass to manage the containers
two different cargo bays
tiny elevator
weird cargo grid that requires you to use multiple container sizes
they really ought to have given the reclaimer a ramp instead of an elevator
or add a drop chute to it that can fit boxes down it for loading in hangers or something
also when the hells the ATLS gonna be fixed to be able to pick up boxes attached to a cargo grid?
without it being a 1/50 chance
LMAO
Is there any way to fix that issue, or is it a known bug? Just to avoid it again!
The reclaimer is so good at salvaging it even cleans itself up after!
A full reclaimer of CM only net 600k now?
Yeah
damn so abrade scraping honestly worth the time then instead of cracking hammerheads and C2s
I think someone was saying you could get 300k from a HH from munching it
With a reclaimer
But if you have the time and patience, I would still scrape it for RMC as well
just by cracking?
Yeah, but I don’t know how accurate that is
This is where selling location data in game is going to be great. Find a rich rock you can’t mine? Pin it and either sell the pin or come back late with friends.
1 SCU sells for 1.2k last I checked so they would need about 300scu or about 18 16scu crates of CMAT so not totally unreasonable if my math adds up
Honestly, was using numbers from SC trade tools and it was priced on a high of 1500
So that is what I used lol
Unless we talking about the HH
Ive spoken too soon
I was doing funky math
1.2 x 3 = 300 ÷ 16 got me 18.75
I should probably explain it a bit so it's not confusing to try and figure out
1.2k x 3 got me the 300k I then divided that 300k as 1scu thus the ÷ 16
Honestly I'm surprised how well my brain maths when it comes to SC, I fucking suck at math for anything else
Me! To be precise, 360k! That’s around 240 SCUs of construction material for the entire HH
More than accurate!
how long was the entire process from crunching to selling?
Munching isnt that long in general. Prob 5-10 mins to do and then processing the boxes and what not depends if you are solo or have a crew to help
Same as selling, as Auto Unload is buggy, you would want to unload it manually first
I had my Reclaimer out 2 nights now and concentrated on RMC by doing 4 16 scu size crates. Then I fractured a 600i for the CM and will head back to sell soon. For 4.0 I asked about the RMC price and not sure this figure is totally correct but they said 7-8 K per scu. Have not heard what CM is. In the past I have done several runs getting CM only as that's a pretty fast game loop and generally worthwhile.
Any hardcore miners out there that could help?
What’s the written/unwritten rule about salvaging in a non- armistice zone? If there’s ships all about and no players, but their shields are off, is it fair game to scrape or steal it?
@sonic forum Ok. You know what? I'm actually enjoying the Starlancer Max.
It's not as slow as I thought it would be. I thought it would be CRAWLING. Maybe I just had a very bad expectation. The 15 minute expedited claim time is still my biggest gripe. No regrets so far a couple hours in.
You like the aesthetic?
Color scheme is a little to dark for me? I prefer the Zeus' where it's a little brighter and some contrasts sprinkled in. It's very monotonous? I guess. It's very gray lol. The design though I don't hate it. Seems like a great smaller ship to just bedlog and live off in deadspace if that was a viable way to play with a group.
Try some cargo hauling with it, worth it
Let me know once you try it more!
However
How did you get it? You upgraded the Taurus?
Will do! Did some bunker hopping just to see the landing and taking off in and out of atmosphere. Don't hate it for now
Yeah! lol. I said fuck it, might as well just rip the bandaid off.
Then realize I don't even do Vaughn missions
Ushhh… giving the Taurus was a strong decision..
Allright, hope for the best!
I don't hate it too much right now, but when a wipe comes without any other ship, it'll get interesting for sure. We'll see! I'll keep you in the loop. Hopefully I won't break your record and just go "Melted it"
Where can I mine with prospector? All asteroids are too big
YOU GOT THE MAX
Yup!
WHY ARE WE SCREAMING?!
I'm enjoying it so far! Nowhere as slow as I thought it was gonna be. I don't know, it feels and flies like what I think a cargo ship should fly like (Even though it's not even listed as such in the website) Wondering if the bigger ships will be tweaked too. Not a fan of the idea of bigger ships with almost 2 times more cargo capacity can fly faster.
I didn't even notice! Dammit.
I also am a fan of the living quarters and the little living space. When bed logging for party members/friends are a thing seems like a perfect ship for it too. My biggest gripe is still 40 minute claim time
lol! The Hercules only has 20 minutes with 522 SCU of cargo capacity and is faster. How does that even make sense
I wish they'd cut it to at least half goodness it's crazy
Reclaimer has a 10 minute expedite but is 3x bigger than a max
But max gets 15

Oh my goodness. You shouldn't have told me that. I feel defeated
😭
Toilet in hab 4 doesn't work either
Well, here we go. Here's the spiral
I got another one for you!

Both elevators have different touchpads.. And both are different color from the rest of the ship.
Thats fine i can live with it
I'm expecting that we'll see an adjustment of claim timers soon, generally an increase particularly in older ships
I wanna even say CIG talked about it, but i can't remember for sure
Yeah if we go by latest ship release= Direction of where CIG is starting to lean into.
I can see claim timers increased, (specially with ships having no HP and engineering) and bigger ships being slower and tweaked
But if we're completely basing it on the SL Max, imagine the speed of the Hercules. Or the Hull D lmao
I also would like for mining to be a lot more profitable considering the extra steps you have to take and time until you get the payout.
try places with lower average mass numbers, you should find smaller rocks / asteroids there. Also give planet / moon mining a try. Larger clusters of rocks and often each cluster has a decent spread in sizes. https://redmonstergaming.com/mining-cheat-sheets/
The moons Cellin and Lyria are both good with the Prospector. Changing the default mining head to something better and using modules helps a lot.
ICYMI: 🚨💥
What’s the written/unwritten rule about salvaging in a non- armistice zone? If there’s ships all about and no players, but their shields are off, is it fair game to scrape or steal it?
my middle mole laser wont turn on, but my other two works fine, anyone know why?
Nice. I'm waiting for my Terrapin BIS paint to show before I finish my MAX ccu chain. I bought the MAX first with store credit to test it out. There are some cons, and yes I considered the Taurus, but for my needs I wanted a ship that can carry cargo and a Nursa at the same time.
If you don’t get a crime stat, then it’s no longer owned by a player and you are free to scrap it, if you get a CS, then it’s still owned by someone.
When it comes to fair game, you can do anything you want, I stole a fully loaded Hull C from Port Tressler. Anything can be fair game lol
is there a way to sell 32 scu sized boxes of drugs?
For now nah, when pyro is in allegedly those places will take 32scu I've seen here
Apparently, RMC value is reduced
Yeah, I think someone was saying the other day it was around 6-8k per scu
Yeah! CM on the other hand got a much needed value increase
Oh?? It did?
What? How much?
To be fair, it really needed it. There was no point to munch on a vulture
At checkmate in pyro at least 1 SCU sells for 2.6k not sure if it sells for more or less at the other stations
Apparently decreased to around 8k per SCU? I think
