There are also pads at stations where you can just land without calling for a hangar
I wanted to buy stuff from the commodity shop but it wouldn't let me; I figured that I would need to be landed at a pad to use it and the freight elevator.
Caterpillar, not as efficient as the C2 but I have fun with it
In a better game (one they should be making) we shouldn't even be aware of a "grid" the whole point to it is the dam thing sits there, stacks, and doesn't move from where you put it. why else would there be a grid? sell points?
I view the grid as the tie down points. Where the ship is equiped to secure cargo. The idea that we can have cargo all whilly nilly in the hold in a ship that can accelerate at multiple g's in any direction with doing damage to everything is a bit mysterious to me actually. But the game allows it, so I'll take advantage of it for now.
i do wish we could toggle grid placement on and off
The grid is magnetized locked down cargo
Many ships have visible pads that represent that locking down feature
Any reason I cant load cargo directly into a cutlass black?
through terminal or hand loading?
if through terminal sometimes autoload dont work
handloading no reason, just bring cargo up from freight lift and tractor beam away
Cutlass needs a QC pass
Using the tractor beam breaks mine
Thinking about swapping for a C1 or upgrading to a Mercury
AH, thank you coyote. But what's a QC pass?
wait its possible to load items directly into the self storage boxes in freight elevator right? i try to drag them onto the box but nothing changes
Give me 7 million and I'll take the complete ship with the 108 gasping scu, it's worth 11 million, you earn an extra 4 million! What do you think of the deal?
I think that the last hotfix that they sent was damaged because before you entered several times to the games and 3 or 4 times you got one that worked, but now between friends and I have been 3 days that we have left more than 10 times and entered and now none of them works
wont load so I guess I just flushed 1 million credits down the toilet?
also don't get why leaving the area should forfeit the cargo, if you can't load surely is should be returned/refunded another bad design decision.
maybe due to the abandoned ship in my box:
that should have been impounded right?
Don't use Hull C this patch
It's incredibly buggy
Some have said they've had success this patch so wanted to try it out but yeah by the looks of it, still a 500 dollar waste of time š
It works sometimes
But the risk isn't worth it imo, a C2 can make more profit and is way less buggy
I'm lettin the clock run down and will try cargo ATC again
don't really care about the creds tbh it sux to lose another million but I just wanted to try it
I'm 2.5m down now on bugged trades ha ha I can't afford to give away more right now š
Na I'm doing good financially, human trafficking pays
The other one my hangar straight up disappeared after I landed and my ship and cargo was destroyed LOL
<1min then I can call again š
It's most likely lost
well it gave me a new cargo area but still does not load
IC says it's fixed so maybe .2 or 4.0 it is fixed. Who can tell lol
Hi all, what's a good starting trade route
QC = Quality Control
I think CIG is referring to it as "Gold Standard" š
The beds in the Cutlass are broken, the co-pilot seat bugs out the ship, you can't access any of the modules, the tractor beam mounts on the front don't work, and the cargo hold has a lot of wasted space.
Is SC trade tools accurate?
My personal Favorite is to just go to a station, see what they have in stock, then look on uexcorp to see where I should sell it.
But that's mostly because I like Uexcorps visuals
dont trust any ground outpost
check if the elevators are working
gold routes majority not working
Oh
I'm at a research outpost now
buying medical supplies
You basically can't interact with the elevator terminal. It's something that gets broken with use, it's mostly the heavily used outdoor freight elevators that are broken (gold outposts, and scrap yards).
dang outposts aren't using enough WD40 on the gears i guess.
Yep that would be the bug
where do I take my medical supplies then lol
At the moment I'd say treat trading same as hauling missions and just go station to station as much as you reasonably can
You can sell em to at arc-L2 station
Usually I prefer to use uexcorp and just click the sell tab to find where I can sell stuff
https://uexcorp.space/commodities/info/name/medical-supplies/tab/locations_buying/
Got told they work on us servers
Good lord the ATLS makes cargo easy. Did over 20 hauling missions in under an hour with my C2. I was just grouping SS to Orison and back which was very nice working on ranking up.
Would have taken me 4 hrs with the maxlift and all those 1scu boxes
Admin in the Galeria for cargo
that's the demand, sell that > wait 10 mins > sell more
welcome to tradewaiting the fun commodity trading simulator from Star Citizen
actually we should call it 'startrade'
;_;
the L stations generally have quite a low demand, main stations and cities will take more usually
ok
you should be able to sell medical supplies in bulk at a TDD (I think it's TDD, I don't remember going to an admin office for them). But either way, try in a city.
tdd?
Trade Development Division. Also called CBD (Commercial Business District I think) at Lorville.
Do u have to store your ship with the supplies, leave it at hangar or store the supplies in the elevator?
most reliable in my experience is to manually transfer to the elevator.
Then go the tdd and sell?
yep, it's how ive been doing it since cargo patch dropped and so far it's paid me in full every time
just remeber to send the elevator down afterwards so you dont gotta run all the way back
Wait so u can bulk sell things in big cities? Store like 1k SCU in many trips and go sell after since they persist?
yep, only thing is make sure you sell beore a new update to live drops, last update wiped peoples cargo they had stored since it isnt part of ltp stuff
Ty
They do ? Is there any known workaround about this
i dont want to lose my gold with the upcoming 3.24.2
If you don't get it out and sell it, the patch will wipe commodities in inventory.
Couldn't you also just fly Lagrange to Lagrange and sell it in bits?
That's my cargo dream
That's a Hull C
Pick up cargo at a lagrange, deliver to station with demand, buy cargo at that station, hop to the next station with demand since its never the previous station... you end up on a big loop.
You can do it. I prefer mining outposts (they accept 50 instead of 10 on Lagranges), and I enjoy the feel of a remote supply ship.
they wrong
its just a matter of luck
need to test every elevator to find working ones, and server hopping too
Just do the solar/interplanetary missions. From Station to Station missions arent as buggy and pay more in rep and some cash.
why does sctradetools say that all these cities pay the same price for 1 scu of quant, but then it changes when i update it to 20 scu?
uhh, it doesn't say they pay the same price
if you mean why do some of the drop off the list, try checking the "allow wait times" button. Might be a demand issue, although 20 isn't that much.
Is it faster to do single member ranks or like 10 rookie/junior ranks at a time for rep? I can grab like 10+ seraphim->Orison missions in the junior and rookie tier, but the member ones are spread out all over which would take longer.
Just not sure if the rep gain is significant.
go to Hurston (probably Microtech too), you can stack like 4-5 member rank missions from a distribution center to 3 outposts.
and you can get 1-2 missions to pick up stuff from the same outposts to take back to the same distribution center to make it a round trip
Oooh, distribution centers. Gotcha. Everus is under attack presently, so maybe MT better at the moment.
yeah, there are also missions from everus harbor down to the distribution centers, probably want to avoid those if the blockade is on everus. But if you go down to the planet and look at "local" missions, they are all between sites on Hurston, and pay pretty decent
at experienced rank I have a route that makes about 375k / hr. Not bad for hauling missions. Or was it 275k? I can't remember now. Something like that.
Here ya go, this gives you an idea of how the rep scales, I stole this from FB, it seems pretty accurate from what I've experienced
It does kinda feel like it was slower for the experienced and I'm a third through senior it feels like I've done at least 20 but that could just be how it feels or accounting for the few abandoned (by altF4)
Alright, finally starting cargo missions tonight. Haven't decided which ship to start with, (C1, MSR, M2 or Cat) but I guess it depends on the mission objectives.
is brios still cooked
they dropping put and shit too fuck this let me sell my eggs
It seems no one gives a shit about the elevators anymore. I could find a working one yesterday. Funny was as i shared the good new on the chat no one believed me
does anyone know if the ATLS can fit in a fully loaded connie?
I "snapped" 16 and 24 just fine yesterday. You have to rotate it sometimes. Only 32 can't fit. The ARC scrapyard. It broke after 3 uses though. It's clearly not stable/finished. Another moron was trying a 32 just when I arrived...
I have to say I haven't tried but I can't see how you would get it into a connie after filling up the cargo.
yeah i dont think it would be doable but still curious if people have found a way
twice now my ship has been destroyed in the hangar at NB lost another haul of cargo - going to give up trading I'm now about 4 million down š¦
This time was destroyed whilst storing, IC says it's fixed for a future release...
This makes me happy to know itās just a bug I was encountering, happened on a few different nights.
For the life of me no matter how I rotated it the 24 SCU wouldnāt snap, so must have just been a server thing.
It does, you can also use a tractor beam to pull the ATLS up top onto one of the smaller cargo rooms as well (I think)
Switch to Hull C trading. Never store your ship again!
I think the routes are cheaper than C2 and pay as much or more.
Hull C trading cost me 940k yestetday - wouldn't load stuck at 00.00
I'm done till .2 I think
did you see my reply yesterday?
Did you dock at a docking port, and go to the Admin console to sell before you entered the Cargo Box?
it spawned my ship Hull C in the hangar not the docking port
Then you stored it with cargo? Oof, never do that
There are rules to the Hull C trade routes, but once you know them they are a breeze.
Rule #1 - never buy or sell with your ship stored - always buy and sell when you ship is docked at a docking port.
Now that you say that I'm thinking that tractoring it atop the cargo should work. There is plenty of room above once the cargo bay is retracted.
Rule #2 - never call cargo ATC until after you have left the docking port, and initiated either the buy / sell process at the admin console.
Idk if on top of the cargo will work
But are you filling up the two back rooms of the Connie as well? Or just the actual bay?
Rule #3 - Avoid all possibility of getting your ship impounded because if it impounds with cargo then you're toast.
I'm done with the Hull C tbh if it wasn't a loaner I'd melt it
just the bay
If just the main bay then yeah dude Iād tractor beam it up top and then put it into one of the back rooms and youāll be fine.
I thinkā¦

I also can't seem to figure out how to rotate boxes using the Connie's tractor beam. Tried R holding R and the same with LALT-R. The boxes just refuse to rotate for me.
It's SC who knows. One time it'll work fine the next boom goes your ship
is there a way to transport ship weapons?
And just throw it in the back of my C1?
Are looting bodies from Bunkers still a viable way of making extra money during merc work?
Yeah, if you loots NPCs and store their armour/weapons in bulk you can sell those, had a bunk of armour from NPCs bunkers and in the end got like 3k
You can use a tractor beam to take an empty 1 or 2 SCU box down into the bunker, and put all your loot in that.
I'd suggest leaving it on the elevator though. Dunno if it's still an issue but I've lost a few crates in the past trying to drag them along with me. Normally anything the player touches survives the bunkers active self-cleaning, but i dunno if tractored items count. Every body or box I've left on the elevator has persisted so far.
And the 2scu is the best way to loot armors imo. Drag the body you want to it, dump your gear in the box, one-click equip the NPC gear, store it then put your stuff back on. Goes by much quicker than scattering armor everywhere and hoping they don't disappear
i find best way to do it is leave 1 alive on the lowest level of the bunker so the tresspass timer doesnt start and i can loot as long as i need instead of 30 mins to loot bodies and gtfo
Aye, 30 minutes is pretty gracious too. Hope they don't change that
yeah 30 mins is good but i've had times where i've gotten it down to like 5 min checking every nook and cranny for loot
Aye it's easy to get absorbed in looting sometimes š
Is the only way to sell eggs right now just to look at all 4 locations and if none work, server hop?
i think so
Ahj okay
They would be for the hauling contracts. If you saw them at an outpost they were probably dumped because the elevators don't work.
Is there another way other than exiting the ATLS to break tether on something that isn't moving?
Seems like I am stuck in tethering unless I get out of the ATLS
When I scan a ship that has cargo, usually it says like ā25 scu of quantaniumā but then it only has a tiny ass little box of it. Is the scanning screen bugged? Or am I misunderstanding something
Are you putting these ships into soft death? If you destroy them they take a lotta the cargo with em
Yes, soft death
It's the only way I've found to break the neverending tether.
SC Trade Tools says you can sell SLAM at CRU L5, but when I go there. It says it cant bo sold there?
Is there a different terminal?
there should be a nqa terminal by lockers
like the area with red locker text and a arrow i think in galleria
CRU-L4's NQA is tucked in the back by Lockers, might be the same with 5
Folks being impatient lobbing benches at people using the kiosk š
Found it
Never seen them before. So wasnt sure where it was
So I asked in game too
Yeah, we don't differentiate the different terminals at the same location anymore, apologies for the suboptimal experience š
Glad you found it, and hope you made a nice profit.
Its all good lol
Made an okay profit. Have eggs to sell that I cant right now lol
So I attempted to do 16 simultaneous member rank planetary hauling missions that went to the same 4 destinations with all pickup at EH. Bad idea. Turns out it's not just quantity you have to deliver, but specific boxes!! One 2SCU box isn't the same. Was a logistics nightmare. My fancy quantity tracking spreadsheet ended up being meaningless and a good dozen boxes got eaten by freight elevators
I still got like halfway through member rank even though I had to submit half filled orders and relog a few that were less than half complete.
Yeah, doing multiple missions with the same commodities sucks!
Learned that one the hard way myself as well
No rep lost. Had they all 100% completed it would have paid nearly 600k, but I think I still netted over 350k.
I'll try again with unique commodities and only one mission per commodity. Should be much more achievable, though the stutter at distros is brutal
I have yet to do any cargo missions and I really want to get into them but ugh
So much to do
Now I see why they are broken...
This is why if I take multiple contracts from one location I make sure they are all delivering to the same location XD
I'm surprised that hotfix hasn't flown yet
Wasnt it meant to like a week ago
Sad thing is I only have like 3 mil of eggs, so not much and I raid tonight
So I can't do missions for more
Well, not a lot
ayo? you still on that server with working outpost? does it still work?
Im heading there now
I will let you know
Got eggs you have to sell?
got drugs to sell
Ah okay
If it works, you can add me and join my server
It sucks. I raid in 25 mins. So I couldnt go and do more missions to get more cargo >-<
Gotta haul ass to this outpost and sell then just bedlog
And I think the outpost that sells gold on Microtech is working. But I believe someone is camping it lol
DM'ed you
Well, I ble up with those eggs...
My ship just wouldn't accept my input and just wouldnt go up
So that is fun
Anyone know if there's a known bug where you can't call for a hangar at Cargo Centers/Logistics Depots?
I had a hauling mission to go from Tressler to MT's S4LD13 Logistics Depot.
But on 2 different servers when I went to the Depot I couldn't get a hangar with Left-Alt+N and the Depot didn't show up as an entry in my Comms MFD
I tried running in on foot and started getting shot at by NPCs. Checking the desc for the location it says access is restricted to employees.
Maybe the server was just screwed up and didn't recognize my contract twice in a row?
Was it a distribution center on micro tech?
Cause there is on on the planĆØte that doesn't have an atc service and you have to use the exterior landing pads
welp, another dozen servers hopped between daymar and wala, no working salvage elevators
Oh boy... I queued up 10 member rank hauling missions and delivery was under way, but when I was positioning in the hangar my ship fell through the world and subsequently exploded. I quickly ALT+F4'd in hopes that I get logged out before mission failure but suspect I just got fully reset in rep. Scared to log back in to check.
I'm not sure if it qualifies as a distribution center
In the Map App it's called a "Logistics Depot"
It's full name is S4LD13 Logistics Depot, located on MicroTech
From the exterior it had what looked like 2 small-sized landing pads and 2 large-size hangars you descend down into rather than fly forward into.
I'm wondering if it's like you said and I had to use the landing pads.
They were way too small to park my Caterpillar on though.
I think I'll probably just start doing Hauling missions over in the Hurston system from now on.
yeah that one doesn't have an atc landing services
you need to use the landing pads to use it's freight elevators
Do you happen to know if there are landing pads that can accommodate a large-size ship?
I only saw 2 that could fit a small and maybe medium-size.
yes, the one on top of the structure aren't faut hauling, you need to use those that are on the exterior of the area
Gotcha, thank you for your help!
Ohh okay, I think I even remember seeing those but I didn't realize they were usable landing pads
This is making much more sense now.
Create an account or sign in to Issue Council. Track bugs on and vote on the issues to help the development team identify what to work on next.
wether on station or location like that landing pad don't require clearance to land on them
Whew, alt+f4 and waiting out crash recovery worked. No lost rep
Is there any way to turn a 32 scu crate into smaller boxes? I know scrap yards don't accept anything over 24 scu
No sadly
Though that would be a nice feature
Go to a place and either just have them swap your big box for smaller ones, or pay a small fee for it to be done
So as of right now, anything larger than a 24 scu box is useless
There only usefull if you intend to sell them somewhere that accept this size
no outposts take 32 scu lol, max is 24 and no cities take illegal drugs
Wish they would have caught that one before putting it in the PU. Really big waste to have massive crates filled with millions of credits of stuff that you can't do anything with
Also makes it even worse since we'll probably get a reset before they fix that
Probably, they still havenāt pushed the hotfix to make outposts elevators work, besides the few here and there. 3.24.2 is on the PTU already. So itās only a manner of time before that drops.
Whatās the website to calculate best testing route?
Found it
yo any job that i can do with c1 spirit
is it worth to grind for the hauling missions? ive currently gotten it up to junior rank but my C 1 cant take the loads those missions give.. so id need a bigger ship
Aye, member and up surpass the 100 scu mark. You can still make decent rep and money stacking several junior and rookie missions though.
Also @silk star see above
Just be mindful there's a time limit so don't linger in one spot for too long
witch one ?
My post just above to answer your question about the c1 as well
There's also renting and piggybacking off a senior or above rep player
Supposedly a planned feature for down the road. Only one you can't get rid of will be weevil eggs as Grim Hex and the "no questions aaked" terminals at CRU L4/L5 will buy other drugs.
It is worth it for smaller ships as well since they have "small member" hauls that pay 35-40k and you can fit like 4 or 5 of them in a C1 at one time with them all delivering to the same list of destinations. Easy to make 200-300k this way.
Just remember to only accept one mission per commodity type or it'll get confusing really fast.
I mean there are missions with large loads, but there are dozens of small haul missions to distro centers when you're in MT or Hurston.
These types never have a container bigger than 4scu and still pay very nicely.
Itās already confusing
If multi drop off missions are too confusing, try the multi pick up single drop off ones
Am I missing something? What do you mean? Like sit and select differrrnt missions?
There are missions that have you collect from multiple locations and deliver to just one. Much less complicated
You don't have to parcel out specific amounts at each stop this way.
Yeah. There's probably 100+ missions in your list depending on where you are, picking the right ones is key
Yeah I get that. all i get now is rookie missions, and junior that I canāt do since my c1 is too small
There should be "small"missions at almost any rank, but maybe not at all locations
Where are you that you don't have small cargo missions?
Current area 18, but going to lorville now
There should be a few small ones in the arcorp area
MT and Hurston have the largest variety, but I also did small direct routes to get to member just going from seraphim to orison and back
But, Hurston with the distribution centers is a better place for them
It was super easy to rank up to member by flying 10 collect from seraphim and deliver to orison missions at a time, but was in a C2.
Found one ahaha
I hope they add some filters some day. Scrolling that massive list is the most annoying part of hauling missions.
my first actual 3.24 gameplay-content. 300+ SCU 3 different missions accepted from seraphim to CRU L1
~10 mins to load them into my M2
I want that ship.
š„¹
Iām like 4,5 m away but Iāve lost motivation š
u will get it eventually mate!
No, 3,5 millions
Doing what I donāt knowā¦
eh i have pledged it tbh
i love it, i pref it over the c2, im counting on the armor in the future
Aah itās a m2, Iām aiming for a c2 i game
ye its an M2 ā¤ļø
I started using an M2 last night. How'd you load it so fast? I ended up grabbing the ATLS with store credit to speed up my load time.
cru-l4 station takes rugs
Can I like rob someone. At gun point
I have recently unlock the Senior Rank in hauling reputation and would like to share with you my experience and thoughts so far. Starting from Member rank which was fairly easy ranking up, took me...
ATLS
EDIT: it was 3 missions from 100-110 scu each, it was less than 10 minutes to load them and unload them
@tall linden
just park parallel to the elevator so u can stand at the edge of the ship, not move and just load/unload
They do but not weevil eggs
Thx. I started hauling missions without ATLS and that took way too much time.
ye its time consuming, also try getting multiple contracts at once for example i got 3 medium cargo contracts from the same point to the same point
M2 is definitely better with the ramp. I tried hauling with Cat but didn't like loading from the side
nice load
Is the "opportunity for independent cargo hauling" mission only Seraphim station to crusader only or do they spawn in other planets?
Yes it will populate depending on your location so at Arccorp it would be BP to Area18
Once you have done this you get access to rookie missions with other routes
What mission did you see that in?
most likely vaughn, since pilots are still alive
Trying to sell Neon at Grim and it shows as In Demand, but when I go to sell. It says I will get 0 aUEC
maybe it's broken somehow? cru l4 should take neon too
i still need a working salvage yard elevator, that one yesterday worked until i tried to send a load down and it kept throwing errors, then someone else tried it and got it stuck at transferring to warehouse š
Well damn
That is shitty
I have 24 neon I am going to sell and then do some vaughn missions to get some cargo
Damn, had to abandon a cargo mission cause I couldn't find where the cargo was (it sent me to a junkyard). Now I'm not eligible for any missions. Will this fix on its own or will i need to share contracts
You'll need to share
Or rather, have one shared with you
But also don't take any missions that take you to scrapyards right now because there's a very high chance that the scrapyard lift is broken.
for me just going between stations works best
yeah that's what I was tryna find, I had never been to scrapyard before and the pay was good so
Hotfix hopefully soon to fix them
my guess, since they haven't been hotfixed already, is that they won't be fixed till .2
Never abandon, always relog to clear the mission for no rep loss
Noted. Iām still relatively new to this game so Iām not fully aware of everything atm.
Selling at Cru L4 at the no questions asked terminal allows you to bypass the failing salvage yards.
Yeah I've sold all of the other drugs, but im still sitting on the eggs
CRU L4 is the best place to sell drugs from anywhere to beat the failed state of elevators at salvage yards everyone just so you know.
yes correct I was assuming that people knew that my apologies. Its much better than getting jumped in Grim Hex
Are there any containers that has a storage of 3 mil scu interior storage space and larger?
You can only buy up to 8scu containers. Which have a capacity of 8,000,000 uSCU
1, 2, 4 & 8scu containers can be bought
ty kindly
Get a 4scu box then
Love 4scu boxes on their sides lol. Like wardrobes
Or my trusty 2scu storage trunk š¦
If only L4 didn't have some of the lowest prices
hey i have a question, i just bought some cargo and it was never delivered to my ship, is it now just gone and i lost my money or is it hiding somewhere
check the freight elevator inside the hanger
it may be there
make sure send the elevator down to warehouse
yeah i did that but nothing, 1.2mil just poofed into thin air
Did you get the transaction confirmation and a timer for the delivery?
If not then yeah it probably bugged out and is gone š¢
I've lost around 4mil trading since 3.24 I'm apprehensive to do anymore before .2 patch I'm running low on funds now lol
yea don't spend more than you can afford to lose
yes i did, i got both, not too pissed off about it tbh, still have some spare cash to start up again, its just annoying
That double sucks, try storing and retrieving your ship again just in case the cargo is invisible
^i did have that happen b4
I'm with you I'm not too annoyed about the losses it's just I'm running out of capital lol
thats quite possible, ill do that when im back, im off salvaging. how often does that happen cuz i stored it and pulled it out but still nothing
same, only 100k left but its enough
Good luck, it could even still show up at the sales terminal even if you can't physically see the cargo
lets hope, thanks for the info
Again its about walking away with anything at this point. Your taking a gamble going into Grim or its a guarantee at Cru L4.
I had this happen with about a million worth of mining goods. Sent it from the refinery to the ship. Called the ship, and it was empty. Minor heart attack, stored the ship and called it again and there it was.
i just bought gold in a mining facility but when i go to the freight manager its stays at transferring to warehouse, anyone else having this issue?
yeah most outpost elevators are bugged, make sure you teest that the elevator comes up before you buy anything
so there is no way to get this gold back ( or the money)?
No sadly. Only thing you can do is server hop until you find a working server
May RNG forever be in your favor trying to find a working mining outpost elevator
ig it kinda worked, i got it first try but then got another bug where it said the elevator was obstructed while it wsnt
Iām just not playing SC until freight elevators are fixed. All of my fleet relies on at least some form of cargo to make money. Is there even a patch in test phase or are they just making more stupid ships
Thereās supposed to be fixed in 3.24.2
What's the gamble? GH has (had?) full armistice that made you immune to damage. It was always easy to get close, and not be at any risk.
Other than ramming
Is that in PTU already?
EVO
I saw some patch notes with that designation but nothing was about freight from what I witnessed
3.24.2, just a week away!
There are also differences in how much they will buy. I had a 24 scu box of Neon that I couldn't sell at GH, but sold at Cru L4 no problem.
Do you have to load the drugs onto a elevator at brios salvage?
test the elevator works first. Most don't
But you have to?
yes load stuff on it and lower it
Alright thanks
i will do things for the whereabouts of working salvage elevator
you found a workin elevator?
yeah, i will pay big time for a workin one.
I did not, Iāll go looking on different servers for a price tho š
Did you abandoned a contract? If yes it can give you a rep penalty big engouh to send you in negative
So, when you accept a hauling mission, the cargo appears in the inventory of the station (That you're meant to pick up from), right? With a special indicator that says it's meant for hauling? (Since I know looking at the boxes says such.)
hauling mission yes
the cargo is always in that local inventory
when you go to the freight elevator controls inside the hangar, it will clearly state this is for the contract
provided that the freight elevator is on the warehouse level
then you select the contract stuff and bring it over, then up
I failed 3 because the pickup point was S4DL13 on MicroTech, where the bugged investigation mission is located. Since the place is overrun by pirates, none of the freight elevators work, and I couldn't deliver the small load I had going there, nor retrieve the two loads that I was supposed to take.
I was almost through junior rank.
in that situation should Alt-F4 or quit game
dont abandon mission
abandon mission causes rep deduction
So I have a taurus and about 6 million in game, I'm contemplating doing some cargo for the first time, does anyone have some recommendations on what I should look at doing? Partially curious about profit but also wanting to try out some cargo so somewhere between easy and profitable would be highly appreciated
Laranite
Buy for 700
Sell for 900
Nearly everywhere
Oh wait
Not Taranite
Astanite
That was it
If you're going to buy anything planet side or moon side always and I mean always check that the freight elevator is working before parting with any credits.
so like do a small test buy?
any routes you recommend trying?
Yes to the first question. Although elevators that work once may not work again. It really is hit or miss with a lot more misses than hits.
I'm not doing any trading that involves outposts at the moment. Routes that involve space station to space station or a city seem to work for now. Be aware also that auto-load doesn't always work. I've lost whole cargo bays of goodies even though the terminal took my money.
Helium from Seraphim to Pyro Gateway or Baijini (a few other places I can't recall right now) works but isn't a huge profit maker.
Hephaestanite from Pyro, Baijini or Terra Gateway to any of the cities is decent money. I think NB pays the best but compared to the others it's a bit of a long haul.
I've done a few Heph runs using the Taurus and only bought 2x32 and 2x24 and loaded it myself. It's not bad and not high risk. I don't buy all the 2scu crates to make a full load just because I find them fiddly to load up. For me it's a quicker turn around just loading up the 4 bigger scu crates.
I think you can make more money stacking hauling missions with the same station or distribution center pickup and destination(s) with a Taurus than trying your luck with mining station elevators
Anywhere with dedicated hangars is more reliable than a public terminal
for delivery missions, I see multiple sources for the missions. Does any one of them prove to be better/more profitable than the others?
Has anyone been able to find working freigh elevators on planets?
I hear people who like box missions do the red-something faction in hurston the most. Supposedly decent reliability
I think Ling(at Crusader) pay 5k/Box vs 4k box for the others, but at Hurston(Red Wind) and Microtech(UDM) you can do shunting missions at the Distribution Centers which are kinda cool with a Mule
Yeah I quite like the Red Wind ones too plus they unlock the illegal delivery missions after you reach runner 2 or whatever
I like the Ling family for the fact you can get around crusader area very quickly
How to make reliable money with a cargo ship:
- Buy a Vulture.
- Scrape ships.
- Stockpile RMC.
- Use your cargo ship to shuttle RMC to Lorville.
- Sell RMC and make bank.
- Be happy you don't have to worry about trading.
Or skip steps 3 and 4 because who wants to move hundreds of 1scu boxes more than they have to?
(until they add the ability to combine them into a big box, then that totally sounds like it would save time)
Late to the convo, but honestly, I would only buy stuff from cities or stations and not touch outposts. Unless you bring some normal containers with you and test to see if the elevator can stow and retrieve cargo.
We have the ability now to put 1scu into a 8scu container
I have 14 8scu and 14 4scu containers for my Taurus
Move the personal containers into local storage, then go and salvage and offload your stuff like normally. Once you are ready to sell your RMC. Move the personal containers onto the freight elevator, but donāt send it up. Double click the personal containers onto and it will open it up for you. Then you can drag the RMC into them.
I will say, I wish we had access to 16 scu containers
oh this is an idea
You can also do the same thing when you are in your local inventory. You can click the arrow in the container to open its inventory up, but I find the game will bug and make your inventory vanish until you reply doing it that way
And you will have to unload the RMC from the bigger containers
Best way is to move the bigger containers to local, then open each one up and transfer them on to the elevator, then bring the elevator up and back down
roc gem splitting style? aye
Pretty much. As when you move the RMC out of the bug containers, it doesnāt save and just puts them back in
like a full vulture 39scu, 5x 8scu is way faster than 39x 1scu
Even if you left the big ones on the elevator and moved the small ones into inv. Once you bring the elevator back up, they are still in it
So the RMC has to come up
Yeah
Just wish we had 16scu containers
do you need to split tho? cant just sell from local in a TDD?
As even doing 14 8s and 14 4s takes sometime in my Taurus
Mainly because putting them in is a bit of a pain
Oh yeah, once the RMC is in your local you can sell normally
then it doesnt matter no need split
The only reason you bring the RMC up and back down is just to update the bigger container a
As you canāt sell from the big containers
the initial loading into bigger RMC is to save the trouble when moving
RMC has to be in local inventory itself
Canāt be inside a container sadly
I have tried leaving the RMC in bigger containers and leaving them on my ship to sell. The TDD will see the RMC, but fails to sell
well splitting isnt that much of a trouble compared to moving 1x scu repeatedly
And if you leave RMC in the bug containers and put those in local, the TDD canāt see them
just drag over and press up
Oh yeah, it is faster
cant just drag out from big containers and into local invent?
Easier to put 8 items into a container then move 8 items
like reach city with tdd, send big containers down, drag out rmc from big containers into local, go sell - skip the moving it back up part
You could always try and see
prevent bugs
It wasnāt until recently that I found out we can still drag stuff into local like we used too
Thought they removed that ability
So you have to drag the RMC back onto the elevator. If you drag them from the container into local, once you close the screen, it wonāt save and just puts all the RMC back into the containers
just put the big containers on the elevator screen, open it up, drag stuff into local
So you have to put all the bug containers into local storage, then open each one and put them back on the elevator and once you send them up, they will no longer be in the bigger containers
Then you just send it back down
dont need send up
Doesnāt work either. Iāve tried it
If you drag the RMC into local and leave the big containers on, when you close the window or bring the bug containers back up, they stay in the bug containers
At least for me it did
big
your i spoilt? š
well at least i learn a trick for storing into larger SCUs
but normally i fly straight to city unload there
then fly out continue salvage
later 1 shot sell all
Ive also thought about doing that
Just bring the vulture and sell from there
But I also have been trying salvage at Yelp instead and selling at Grim
As I donāt have to deal with atmosphere and taking a train
i think selling at grim not worth
But it is a lower profit
like 64k in 6mins
I think it was like 60k lose
i rather fly that 6mins
Yeah, partly why I want a reclaimer
Can just chill and salvage for a long time before having to sell
And you can get a lot of CM really fast from large ships
also we in wrong channel chatting abt this
Oh shit we are lol
I knew this was a thing at one time (in PTU), but then I thought it was broken and buggy and it was disabled. Does it work now?
It does
I did it recently
Iāve really been debating on making videos for these kind of things. Just so I can send it to people so they can see how it works compared to just explaining it over text
Can you sell it as whatever size scu or do you have to break it back down after transport?
You have to remove the RMC from the bug containers and put them back into local inventory. If you leave them in the big containers, the TDD and Admin wonāt even recognize the items and if you leave the big containers in your ship, it will fail to auto unload them.
That's what I figured, It has its pros and cons I guess
Yeah
Still faster to load the 1scu of RMC into a 8scu container and then unload them afterwards
haven't touched cargo in 3.24 - is it worthwhile to load/unload yourself?
you often have to. The auto load / unload is only available at major cities / stations, so if you want to haul from a mining outpost, you have to manually load as far as i know. And the auto unload is a bit buggy still. Hauling missions you have to do it manually, that's kinda the point.
also if you want to stash stuff in the warehouse or make multiple trips before making one run to the TDD to sell, you have to manually unload (it can be well worth it for that, spend a little time unloading to save a round trip on the trams)
good to know, I didn't realize they had fixed it.
Its fun until they have you tons of 1scu containers instead of a few 8scu ones
My experience with auto load isn't the best. It sometimes just doesn't load up anything your bought but it keeps your money. Other times it only loads some of the cargo and the rest is lost. It also seems to have issues figuring out loading different size cargo crates. When it works it's great saving you time for a small cost. When it doesn't it's annoying and can be expensive.
yeah until tiao just mentioned about manually combining 1scus boxes, makes it easier imo
if it wasn't for the fact that crashes keep killing all the cargo I've bought š , I think cargo trading on the free market would be where all the profit is at. Is there any real reason to actually do the cargo missions?
They're quite enjoyable if you like the gameplay, I find them a relaxing low risk activity. There's some nice routes you can stack and they pay I reasonable after experienced Rank. They do start to get a bit same same after a while but that's kinda true for all the loops.
It's obviously not going to compete with salvaging per/hr but it's reasonable for the effort, I like stacking the local jobs.
But couldn't I just buy something cheap and fill up my connie and have the same experience selling something I bought myself? Like Tungsten seems cheap as dirt, wouldn't just buying tungsten, tossing it in my connie and then selling it have the same gameplay but higher profit?
Yes of course but then you do have the risk, no matter how cheap of losing the investment. But yeah it's pretty much the same, you can plan your A-B-C routes, etc
I guess yeah, If i'm gonna plan on making a 25% profit and want to make what I'd make from the mission. that math always means I'm having to risk effectively 4x the missions payout to break even.
I've lost 4 million to cargo bugs this patch which is actually more than I've made so I'm currently running at a loss lol
But they were high risk transactions
I like the A to b to c to A planning part, but yeah... the fragility of the cargo stuff makes it pretty hard to enjoy.
940k for a Hull C that wouldn't load, 1.5 mil for a load of diamonds and 1.5mil for medical supplies in both cases New Babbage destroyed my ship when I pressed 'store' lol. I avoid NB now.
I mean, I wouldn't be upset about losing rep or cash if... you know... the cargo just worked right.
if the only way to lose my stuff was to get pirated, steal it or crash my ship. I'd be happy lol.
I'm not really bothered during alpha, as long as the testing we do helps to make the game better in the long run.
I think you will make better money doing hauling missions. Buy price on tungsten is about 220 if I remember right? A full load of tungsten in your Taurus should be 220x174scu = 38280 aUEC, 33% profit on that is only about 12.5k profit per load. Some of the higher value cargos of course you can make more, but the low value stuff just isn't very worth it. To compare, at "experienced" rank on hauling, I have a route on Hurston that pays about 275k and takes about an hour.
So I plan to shoot the lower spindles off my hull c so that it can work in hangars. Anyone know if the loading that works correctly will still work if you're missing spindles?
Kinda smart if that works out
I just need to figure out how much SCU each spindle holds
I did that w/ a tonk in my xl hangar. it neatly took off each lower spindle w/ 1 shot apiece. I loaded it up, and went into quantum from a station and it just blew up >.< I assume it was an unrelated bug but I have yet to try again lol.
Also it sucks since you have to dock every time first, then store it, then get a large hangar with another ship, then summon it from within the large hangar to even get access to it. Or have a friend with a large ship follow you around and get a large hangar. IMO you should be able to choose hangar or docking with those large ships. It's a pita to have to dock first everytime, and have to have large ships waiting at each station you want to use. That's my experience so far at least.
It's definitely a known bug that it retrieves to a hangar, but you can avoid docking if you don't mind a 5 or 15k impound fee (can't recall which).
Another goofy bug I discovered is if you bedlog with the spindles extended, then log back in, you can load cargo onto the spindles via auto-loading and then close them with the cargo attached as long as you do not move the cargo at all.
So technically you could then land and store at any major city in a hangar and try to auto-unload at TDD
Is it possible to sell cargo from the grid with auto loading at a TDD with a stored Hull C, or will it just fail because the ship type requires the special unloading mechanic?
I took 12 boxes of maze from a mercenary mission. Where can I sell it ? Is it only grim hex?
CRU L4 and L5 both have no questions asked terminals that should take it.
are evevators at scrap yards still bugged? i have like 50 eggs i need to sell
Is this a different location than admin?
yeah, it's a red terminal like the other illegal terminals
ones in a locker room, the other is in a back room kinda hidden behind some caution tape
Iāll have to look for it. I am parked at cru l4
does cargo hauling work yet ? like can i buy with hull c and sell at stations
It can but not 100% reliable
dope time to uninstall for another year and maybe they'll fix it
just tried to buy some gold at mining facility. freight elevator is on the transfering to warehouse loop. 350k down the drain lol
thats why i uninstalled imagine what happened to you at the scale of tens of millions
quick hauling question. is it better to rent a larger ship to do the better paying missions or just chain the smaller ones with my C1?
It has worked for me pretty consistently
You just have to know the right order of operations.
what are they can ya tell me?
- Hull C needs to be stored (make sure spindles are CLOSED when storing) or docked at the station.
- Buy cargo at admin by selecting your Hull C 1st in the top left drop down before buying, then purchase (it will tell you about auto-loading and you have to hit accept).
3.Leave docking port, or hangar with ship and once a safe distance that wont get you impounded, call Cargo ATC (sometimes it automatically does this upon leaving the hangar). - Make sure your spindles are extended then enter the blue box, and once it turns green become stationary and turn off engines to avoid moving.
- Wait for cargo to load. It may say you have to remain stationary for like 30 seconds before a countdown appears.
- QT to your destination, and then call ATC to Dock at a Docking Port.
- Walk to the Admin terminals, and initiate a sale of your Hull C cargo which will tell you to unload with Cargo ATC.
- Return to ship and Undock - do not call Cargo ATC until you have put space between you and the docking port (impounding means losing everything - dont get impounded).
- Call Cargo ATC and enter the blue box.
- Repeat step 4, wait for cargo to start unloading.
Once it completes you get paid.
I've done a couple runs between Seraphim and Baijini successfully. The hardest part is docking with a full Hull C.
iāll try it cuz i was always using the pads and i tried selling after docking at the destination but the sales value was zero and i couldnāt call atc
n i appreciate the help btw
Can refinery orders be unloaded to a hull series ship?
Or do you need an actual cargo bay
Not sure anyone's tried it, since selling them would mean going down to a planet, and planets don't have cargo areas for Hull C to sell.
Ok! Good to know
Can 1 SCU hauling containers be loaded into any of the larger containers at the warehouse?
I can get an 8 SCU container to show its capacity filling as I select boxes, but then it says the selected boxes are blocking the elevator when I try to move them to the larger container.
Oh, BTW - do not attempt to auto-load hull c with a damaged spindle. It has dire consequences.
Going along with what @vocal swan just asked, I'm assuming there isn't, but is there (shouldn't there be) a way to combine cargo containers into larger ones in general? For example, if I had 96 - 1 SCU containers of RMC in the warehouse, shouldn't I be able to combine them into 3 - 32 SCU containers in the cargo terminal? I feel like that should just be there....It would certainly make loading them up for a later sale much easier.
It would be handy. The interface almost works for filling a standard container with hauling containers, I can see the container filling as I select the hauling items, I just can't then transfer the hauling items into the standard container.
Also, I'm trying to fill a Starfarer's solid cargo space with hauling missions, and having to drag things what feels like a half-mile due to the overhanging fuel spars is a little rough.
You can detach those I believe
I did remove the fuel tanks, but the length of the empty tails still makes the positioning a little tricky to get close to a hangar elevator. I can sidle in sideways some so that the refueling arm and the landing gear isn't directly in the way at least.
you can only combine into 8scus
player bought max is 8scu boxes
tiaoz explained in #industrial-professions message
but when you reach the sell location you need to split up the RMC back into 1scu containers or cant sell, using the roc gem splitting method
- send 8scus RMC down, while at warehouse, double click to open the 8scu boxes, drag the RMC into the left side lift elevators
- send the lift up. it should auto split the RMC back into 1SCU boxes, then send back down.
- Sell at TDD
- $$$$
Does that work for hauling mission boxes too? That's what I had the issue with. I'll check that link, thanks!
hauling missions i dont know, sorry
i dont see any reason not to work tho
if you can combine the 1scu/ 2scu boxes into 8scu boxes
dont think the mission cares if it receives the 8scu of copper in 8x 1scu boxes vs anything else
I basically tried those steps independently, and got messages that the items I was trying to load into the standard container were blocking the elevator š¤
yeah the topic tiaoz was talking abt was mainly about player farmed RMC from salvaging
not so sure abt cargo hauling boxes
Haven't gotten to trying salvaging yet, I'll keep it in mind if I do š
you test if can combine and let me know š
Perhaps I should shift to trading instead of missions just for autoloading.
I at least broke 100k for the first time after dragging 40-something containers manually for a small pile of hauling missions.
It should work, I just donāt think the mission will see the scu containers until you remove them from the bigger container you stored them into.
I couldn't get them into the container to start with.
If you are talking about commodity trading. Do not go to any outpost to buy or sell. Only stations and cities until the elevators are fixed
I did think I heard some about that, thanks.
I just got back home from surgery. So Iām unable to get into game for a tiny bit. But when I do, I will try to see if they can go into a bigger scu container and maybe they canāt
Also, when doing those contracts, you donāt have to bring 100% of the cargo to finish the contract. There is different levels 25% 50% 75% the minimum is 25% or you will fail the contract. I havenāt looked too much into it, but it just seems you get paid less for brining less. But not 100% sure
Interesting. I had the space in the Starfarer, it was just tedious moving everything.
Fair, it is a pain to move all the tiny containers.
Especially if you take on a lot of cargo at once
I have yet to do cargo missions, mainly salvage, mining and bounty work
I grabbed like seven contracts from Seraphim to Orision š¤
Having the same drop off location is nice. Because you can just unload everything without counting what is for what lol
the pay seems to scale with how much you deliver in my experience.
Okay, that is what I thought, but wasnāt sure
honestly if you want, you can go to outpost, but make sure the freight elevators are working. ususally there's 3 elevators, go check and press F on it, if its stuck on loading or something, its not working. if it is, grats now you can buy stuff and bring it out
station to station/planet trading are 100% working because freight elevators are personal elevators
but the profit margins are tiny
i tried the bajini -> area 18 trading, using a Hull A (4x 16SCU boxes are very fast and easy to load)
per trip was like 20k profit
I'd accept small profits while I figure out trading for sure.
theres a trick where you put regen point on bajini, when finished selling on Area 18 to backspace (suicide) and spawn back at bajini point, claim the ship (expedite only 2mins) and trade again
But I'm offline for the evening now!
1 run takes 10-15mins
so easy 4 runs = 80k profit/hr
not a lot, but decent for a newbie
Rented a cutlass black to try to do some hauling missions- but the tractor beam in the rear doesn't seem to be letting me bring crates closer to the ship.. Am I missing a button somewhere?
Left alt + mousewheel
Left alt.. dammit
Thank you- I figured it'd be the same as the handheld
yeah for some unknown reason, it's different for ship tractor beams š
Also, is it common for the cutlass' pilot and copilot animations to only play correctly once when getting in the seat before completely bugging out? lmao
I have noticed in the latest patch all pilot entering seats animations are subject to bugging out. Not something I saw before 3.24.1
For hauling missions- are the crates Always going to be 1SCU? Is there a way to get bigger crates or is it just extreme tedious forever? Lol
Additionally; is it possible to take half a load and then return for the other half?
I tried to do it earlier and port tressler refused to give me the other half, but Iām not sure if that was just a server bug or not
hauling does give bigger crates later on with higher level missions.
not really, if you see on top there was a discussion that missions get completed with min 25% delivery. anything less it fails
think you may have just completed the mission with 50%
I would bring a container with you to test the elevator with. I found one that had a working screen and had someone go use it for it to just not work after they put their stuff in it.
Trading at outposts is very risky atm. You stand more chance of losing your cargo and money than you do from dying in game by any means.
Can anyone here with a Hull C tell me if the auto loading/unloading works for hauling contracts?
Trying to decide if buying a Hull C is worth it
I don't think auto loading was available for hauling contracts in general, else I've been a fool and doing it manually š
you have to manually load hauling contracts except for the Hull C (as I understand it), although the Hull C is at least mostly broken.
I know itās not the most effective solo trader but I love using my raft more than my Taurus. Something about the raft just make me feel more like a space truckerš
<Deep Purple intensifies>
Can the Raft only carry 32 SCU containers and nothing smaller?
The Raft is a great "little" hauler. You can stack all size containers on the Raft now.
If they ever fix outposts in general but also to handle 32scu the Raft will be even more fun to fly around.
Sounds like a nice craft. Is the cargo grid underneath it externally, and you snap containers 'up' onto it?
Starting out with cargo hauling missions in a Mercury Star Runner last night. The cargo hauling missions netted me 40k profit after a couple of hours.
Once you get up to member(or better experienced) rank you can easily stack local missions to get around 200k/hr
It will load, it will not unload
Hull C is working for regular trade routes (server health dependent). It is actually more reliable than auto-unloading at TDD or Admin from my experience and can currently be the most profitable form of trading now that blockade is over.
I've also been experimenting with some hull c gimmicks to see how I can make it even more profitable or functional for hauling missions.
Itās a bit funny how many cargo missions I find are just slightly more SCU than what the raft can handleš
Sometimes I take them if I can squeeze a box or 2 into the main living space
Microtech logistics depot.. is there meant to be ATC? I'm trying to deliver cargo but there is no ATC to open a hanger šµāš«
no atc at DCs so gotta land on one of the pads nearby last i checked
Hmm
I'll have to try that next time...
Cause now I have a new question; If you have a hauling contract.. and the server has an error... and that contract gets "Abandoned" can you sell the cargo elsewhere? or is it best to just toss it overboard and keep truckin'?
just best to toss it, nowhere will take it for you to sell afaik
Roger that, off to try again!
Has anyone used the ATLS yet for loading? ive seen the CIG Cash Grab memes but honestly if it makes loading faster then fine
I got it as a token but used it in my Starfarer for some hauling missions yesterday. Given how you can't park it too close to hangar elevators due to the tail booms, the point and click box moving while staying stationary was useful.
But I'm generally inexperienced moving cargo, the handheld tool might have been fine but it probably would have meant a lot of running.
I did end up with boxes hovering in front of me so I couldn't see where to place them a few times.
unloading rmc from my reclaimer manually then using atls to toss the boxes into freight worked alot quicker than the handhelds, pretty much same as old multitools except it grabs it and brings it to you at mach 3 then throws onto grid slightly slower than that
And you can start turning to face the next box while it places too.
Ahh okay thank you. Ive been trying to get the Rep up and the handheld works great just slow and i have to move alo
thatll be useful
Yes, it is considerably faster and easier if you aren't needing precise placement of boxes.
Yes it's external and where those claw like arms are. You can snap cargo from underneath, either side or the rear.
It's biggest faults are that it is a bit wallowy and slow in atmo. It is a real cargo ship though so that is to be expected. Although the last few times I've used it I thought it was a little faster in atmo.
The interior is just a great layout. it has fantastic range and is cheap to run.
If you can't tell I'm a fan of it. š
It does sound fun, thanks for the description! Any way to walk an ATLS on to it?
Has anyone figured out how to put 1/8 SCU boxes into a 1 SCU box, in the open (I know itās doable using the inventory management window)?
You have to do it in a window, donāt think we can combine containers in the open anymore since the inventory update.
Such a pain
I finally got the nerve to try the hull-c again today. Went to Seraphin and only bought 200K worth of hydrogen as a test. Left the hanger fast, extended the cargo grid, flew to the cube, turned off the engines, left the cube because it wouldn't recognize the ship, tried again, the same issue, then NPC security told me to halt, but I was in danger of the load timer ending so I ignored him. Ended up losing cargo and getting a C1 stat for not halting lol. Going to try again tonight.
I was doing rookie hauling missions without it for a couple of days, then grabbed one with store credit and totally has made it faster (at least to unload). Loading isn't precise, so every now and then I have to exit it and move stuff around.
It doesn't fit under the ship to walk it onto the lift. I didn't try tractoring it into the airlock but I think it's too tall to fit in that as well.
You can turn the Raft any which way in a Medium hangar so you can get it close to the freight elevator and positioned how you like basically. When I do runs with mine I only use the max lift and with 32's it's pretty quick to load and unload. Well loading can be finicky until you've done it 3 or 4 times and then you'll wonder why you ever had issues. TBH I still occasionally mess up the loading of a crate or two.
Thanks, I did figure that hand tools would work if the ship was close enough to the elevator.
Today's weirdness - some sort of invisible barrier at the elevator that I have to walk the ATLS through to actually target boxes.
Yeah I've encountered that too, very annoying...
I've had issues at times targeting boxes with the Maxlift too, solution was to get really close to the boxes. Don't think it's an actual barrier of any sort, just a bug in the tractor beam targeting system(s).
Is it worth doing hauling with a Connie? Or am I wasting time?
Also how should I be stacking the missions, it got really confusing to drop off items when I accepted a whole bunch
Every successful cargo run is worth it no matter the ship as success = profit. Now if you want the largest profits then you need to invest a lot more in a ship and inventory. Inventory = your money and so the bigger you go the bigger the risk.
I do runs using the Raft, Taurus and C2 depending on how I feel. I enjoy the Raft the most atm as it's easy to load, relatively little investment and the run is very low risk.
So yes it's worth it. Just don't expect huge profits simply because of the volume you'll haul. The margins are the same though.
Enjoying those station to station runs in my cat/ c2 they are smooth and easy to unload and load and stack more missions.
I'm doing this loop again, it takes about the same time as one Senior mission and should give 50% more Rep. Using the little Hull A as it's a lot of QT!
It's not as easy in the cat than the c2... Makes me want to upgrade for 70 to the C2 but I already own it in game via UEC..
Get a CCU but upgrade when you need to. I'm wondering how much of a chore the Ironchad will be to load
I'm upgrading at some point I got the CCUs ready
Is there a way to make a living trading at low investment levels and also using the automatic load/unload?
I'm spending about 30k per end to load and unload my C2, and my profit was about 59k for the commodities. It's wiping me out
I'm thinking trading low-volume, high-price items is the way to do that. You only pay per box from what I can tell
Yeah you've nailed it you pay for the time/per box so the only way to make money with low value trades is manual loading/unloading
Is trading viable in the current patch? Or is it better to do cargo hauling missions?
Based on my experience, you either have to load and unload by hand to make a profit, or trade very high margin items
Once I have my first million I think it'll be worth it, but starting out doing high-volume low-margin trades means you need to do the loading and unloading. It's a lot of time spent.
I'm thinking I'll do salvaging until then
Iām just wanting to make some quick cash tbh lmao
I rented a cutlass black which made hauling okay- when the outpost elevators actually worked
I tried hauling and trading about 6 times this patch. The elevator ate my cargo twice and left me with 0 money
It's extremely unreliable
Yeah rn I think only working trading is hopping servers til you find one that has a working elevator for what you're trying to buy or low profit high volume station to station or station to city trading
Station-only hauling missions have worked for me, I only started doing anything cargo-related a few days ago.
I'm considering getting something like a Nomad for the small contacts, dragging a Starfarer around is a bit of a hassle.
I'm probably gonna run around in a Cutty Black doing high margin trades. I have a C2 but the loading fees are erasing my profits, and I just don't have the patience for the manual cargo load/unload.
I think around that million UEC mark you can buy enough to offset the load costs
Oof, probably should have researched this but in my Hull C shenanigans I went to Orison and then learned that the Hull C is incapable of maintaining altitude with cargo in Orison gravity. There goes 4.5mil of cargo!
I seemed to not have the same issue at A18.
hi, i was wondering if it is more worth it to do salvaging with the Vulture or cargo runs with the c2
Vulture since you risk nothing
alright thanks
Hola!!!
QQ: Can you stack 4 SCU high in the 'center' line of the Taurus cargo bay?
I don't have first-hand experience, but the 3.22 cargo grid reference sheet shows it as 3 SCU tall overall.
Yah, for grid snapping. Was curious if the center could go higher. Almost looks like it can. Thanks!
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/3-22-ship-cargo-grid-reference-sheet For reference, it's a neat document just to look at.
Oh neat, there's a 3.23 update available.
Love this document. Saved the images just because itās worth knowing this stuff
Does accidentally rattling cargo boxes in your ship/hold damage the ship at all?
Cause I'm real bad at using the tractor beam and I have a fucking orgin 135 lmao
If I am correct, there was a chance where cargo boxes no longer did damage when using a tractor beam, because the ATLS was doing too much damage to ships when trying to put cargo down
Anyone ever seen whether the SRV can tow a fully loaded hull c in atmo?
Atmo like hurston or mt?
The only upgrade I heard about for the SRV was related to towing in Quantum flight mode. Which I look forward to.
I thought the biggest it could tow was a MSR, though I havenāt really looking into the ship all that much
When it was first introduced it could tow a HH comfortably. Not sure about a fully loaded Hull C in atmo though. It being the only tow truck we have it should be able to tow anything currently in game. So maybe.
SRV cannot lift a C2 in planetary gravity, that much I know.
Tried it yesterday. It cant
Is the Nomad tractor beam prone to just ceasing to work even though I moved boxes successfully with it at the last station?
(toggled modes from the remote turret view, got it to work.)
Interesting, do 4SCU boxes never snap to a carggo grid vertically?
They fit but they don't snap.
Yo guys ! Back to trading 3.24.1, C2 only. I've noticed surface trading is too broken rn. What would you suggest for station ==> station/city trade ? Like this HEPH route, is that really a thing ? (Terra ==> Orison)
which websites do I go to for trading routes? edit: nvm i found it i think: SC Trade Tools
They do good work but also don't drop like 5 million on a route just because the site says there's a profit to be made š
Which ones ? All surface trade are not good with the elevators lotery (not working most of the time, server hopping...). Space ones are limited
They donāt, none of the containers attach vertically for some reason
I've just been on their Discord long enough to see a number of players put way too much into whatever route they saw listed without verifying the numbers in-game first. Probably worth a quick check before committing to big purchases wherever they may be?
Especially with current instabilities. I wonder though wich routes are viable while avoiding completely surface trade
honestly the website tools already told you what are the money making trade routes.
if there's special faster / hidden routes people wont tell ya
station to station trading is just a living wage. especially using auto load / unload
like 20/30k profit per trip on a hull A. (i choose hull A because it is cheap to rent, and only needs 4x 16SCU boxes to manual load, imo best for beginners really wanting to do trading). its just low margin high volume trading, but thats the best we have atm until elevators are fixed
im usually doing Bajini Point -> Area 18 Heph trading, 20k per 10-15mins is decent on a Hull A. i assume you can get the profits higher once you hvae a larger ship like a c2, autoload is available
doing tricks like backspace to respawn back on Bajini Point after unloaded at Area18 is a thing fyi
I sold 26 1 scu crates of RMC at the TDD at Area 18 but the single 16 scu crate would not sell. It says it is an "unregistered item". Is this the same as lack of demand? Thanks!! EDIT: Now it says illegal or stolen.
If it's marked as stolen you gotta sell in Grim HEX
Is it actually stolen, or was it salvaged by a party member?
I think it's sad that a 6 SCU mission from station > spaceport
Pays only 3k less than a 100+ SCU mission in different solar systems
Why even bother with the 100+ at that point?
That's partly why I took a break from my Starfarer to try out small missions in a Nomad. I'm interested in a Hull A as well!
The Nomad worked well, apart from the contracts to/from four stations that I took being a pain. And having to manually slot in 4 SCU boxes vertically due to them not snapping.
I'm working on saving up for a better cargo ship, one with an actual cargo hold lmao
I'm thinking probably gonna grab a freelancer or a spirit
someone needs to make a tractor beam calculator
Iām using a Hull A at the moment, and while itās practical, it doesnāt look great. Gonna go for the RAFT next
Make money back in two junior contracts renting a Hull A
? For what
For ship tractor beams and ships so you can figure out how many srvs or whatever you need to tow a ship
Ohh, that is what you mean, thought we were talking like all tractor beams , like the handheld ones and normal ship ones
We really need a heavy duty SRV to tow some of the bigger ships. But at the same time, they need to finish up the ships we have before they make new ones
Wdym?
For how much each tractor beam can pull?
With the srv?
it should also depend on moon/planet
Pyro tractor 1-16scu
Maxlift 1-32scu
It does
Moons like yela
Have less gravity
and in the case of hull c, i believe it also accounts for cargo on grid, not sure about other ships
Then there is the gravity well called Aberdeen
so, be cool if someone made a calculator for all of it
Its not that difficult to understand tho?
Calculator for commodity surely
There is no math
maybe tahts all i have? and im at microtech and i dont want to run to loreville
thats my points
Its literally a 10-20 minute trip
srv is also not enough for a c2 on its own i believe
It is
it atmo?
well i had a nomad, mpuv-t and 315p trying to lift one once and it wasnt quite enough, so thats why i want a calculator
SRV cannot pickup a C2 in planetary gravity in my experience
I think it must be my alt accounts crate. Will send it down with him and see if I'm right.
Hi. Is it possible to rotate objects with the Taurus tractor beam?
It should be yes
need to hold R and move mouse
It didn't work. But will try with alt -r and middle mouse button
You can as I have before
Perfect! I just can't find the right controls, but at least I know it's possible
Should just have to hold R and use your mouse wheel
Those there is a chance itās Left alt + R and mousewheel
is this just broken
looks like your trying to buy from Platinum bay the RMC selling vendors? those dont work
anybody know a good way of finding a working scrapyard elevator server. Do I just keep cycling? or try to find somebody in one and join them?
You can do either, but pretty much just have to keep server hoping over and over
Yoyo
You need to select a storage destination. The outpost.
why doesnt it let me load my C2?
I don't think you can auto load at outposts
oh alright i've seen someone doing it but alright
Make sure the freight elevator works before buying
makes sense
alr
nah, outposts are purely self load since the pads dont go below the ground
do I need a bigger tractor beam to take gold?
I just got the basic one with the multi tool
You need the max lift to do larger than 16scu boxes
since argo atls came out in .1 of this patch maxlift has been the go to if you dont have a atls, it handles every crate size (currently) with a farther range than the multi tool attachment
Can the cat not hold 3 x 16 in the bow?
Yes but you need to be in the bay to move the first box back far enough, it's impossible (or at least very difficult) to do it from the ground
Is auto loading/unloading working properly at stations and cities for C2?
And does the hull c work for trading currently?
Do you not get to choose what size crate the mission cargo comes in? Makes it awkward to fit in my Connie when the mission just gives me 8 scu crates and I can't stack them.
@winged minnow the answer to both is there's a chance it can fail for the Hull C it's a higher chance for regular auto loading it's a lower fail rate
Nope the mission will give you as many of the largest size quoted and any smaller to make up the difference
So 100scu with a max 8scu is 12x 8 and 1x 4
Wow that kinda sucks.
It's a current limitation, they do intend to give ways to combine/split sizes in the future
Any1 got a good trading guide cuz ive tried cargo trading but i never find the damn posts
You mean the trading outposts?
They have said they intend to let you split / combine your own cargo. I'm not sure they have ever said you will be able to alter hauling mission cargo.
It was talked about during cargo and hangars Q&A they didn't specify exactly how they intend to do it just that they want to improve the experience, it was in relation to the question why placing mission cargo withing a larger container was removed.
Ahh, maybe they do intend to allow it then
I wouldn't read too much into anything tbh it's only the first version of hauling missions it's definitely going to go through many changes
Hey can anyone help me with this
I am at the TDD at Orsion and it says that I can't sell anything
Where am I supposed to sell
Do i have to sell at the admin now
construction materials sell at admin
Okay thank you so much I did not know with the new update
Do you know where all the admins are at all of the citys @ocean compass
Thanks
Well I think I'm done experimenting with the Hull C now. I have bugged out multiple stations, one of which instantly creates a server crash if I try and load there. I've lost about 20mil in cargo with all my random experiments. Safe to say you can do Hull C trading if you do it 100% right and never ever try a hauling mission at any station with the ship.
is trade tools still up to date?
If I may, which ones are working then ? The trio Rappel/Picker/Dunboro ? Elevators are destroyed on each server reset after a few uses. Tested myself on a fresh one. Despite extreme caution it broke.
outposts elevators are usually buggd out instantly aye
i wont do any of those outpost trading
Yeah same. So no more RMCs trade I guess...
honestly tho, i seem to find beryl trading from outpost working
like SM022 i think
yeah i always find the SMO22 elevators working
less chance of immediate destruction
but lesser people trade beryl cos not top money maker
if i really really wanna do outpost trading i will do beryl runs
if not better off doing just station to station runs
way lower margin, but autoloading available
And if you want to do space only, what would you do ? HEPH ?
so makes up for it in terms of effort
porb heph aye
or medical supplies
see whats profitable on the trade tools
rgr tks
is hull c cargo missions still broke?
Yes
This is what we need instead of hover cargo trolly. A hover cargo truck. Can carry 2x 16 scu containers. Short enough that it could go into the cargo centers, but big enough you can carry the cargo
Is it just me, or is trying to take cargo off the RAFT finicky?
Yes very, try putting 32 SCU containers on it, thatās finicky š¤£
100%. You have to get in just the right spot and sometimes the cargo boxes on the grid don't have any collision with other boxes
I thought my Mercury Star Runner was going to last as a good cargo hauler. Last night did my first rookie/Junior hauling contract and ha stuff just all over the place. Not sure how I managed to close the ramp.
I honestly just grab the bottom box in the raft and the rest fall lol
are the freight elevators fixed?
iv had no issues with them
the outside one on the mining facilitys
yeah, depends on where you go. The mining facilities that don't sell anything people want are generally OK in my experience (for doing hauling missions to, for example). The ones that sell gold, I have not heard of them working reliably.
You can't buy directly to your ship
You have to buy at local place then load cargo with a tractor beam, from the freight elevator
Make sure the elevator works first. Gold buy points are almost all fucked rn
i guess if it's stuck on transferring ot warehouse it's not going to work?
anyway to fixit?
nah
unfortunately
so trading kinda dead rn because of this
so I use a trading route with hangar and auto loading
ah that sucks speant the last of my money , should of checked before i got anything from it
Server hop and try again, might get lucky.
Yea been doing that for abit no luck so faar
Need a class of instruction (COI) on:
Anyone willing to jump in voice and walk me through how to use it correctly?
Not everything may be bugged. Check the freight elevators before buying anything. Or do cargo hauling. Or use mining to generate cargo to sell, though for the latter I wouldn't use the slowest refining method right now since it sounds like 3.24.2 may be getting closer to coming to PU. (And that reminds me, I've got refined ore to load up and go sell.)
Er, note that cargo hauling to/from outposts can have the same issues.
anyone having issue going to their hanger?
Hanger elevators have been problem free for me
The only issue I usually have is that the first elevator never shows my hangar, but the second one always does.
There is at least one elevator at Orison that seems to be lacking the hangar button, but I don't always encounter it in the same spot, when I do encounter it.
Is there anywhere to rent the Freelancer Max? Or is it just the freelancer that's available for rent?
Stick to hauls that have dedicated hangars. Stations, major cities and distribution centers. Hurston is the best system for hauling because MT is messed up and there are lots of distribution centers in hurston
Nope. Sometimes I just have to try 3 or 4 elevators
What is a good starting capital if i want to start trading with a rented cutty black? Im only gon have it dor 1 day so i wanna make the most of it
Best thing is to do local hauling missions, there's not really enough enough meat on the bone with small A-B hailing
Missions?
Really?
I was thinking like trade routes
But how much auec to start
IF you can find a working elevator (good luck) gold should be the most profitable. A full Cutty Black load would cost about 266k, and yield 78k profit (ish). https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes?q=%257B%2522ship%2522:%2522Cutlass%2520Black%2522,%2522investment%2522:1000000,%2522itemName%2522:%2522Recycled%2520Material%2520Composite%2522,%2522itemQuantityInScu%2522:1000,%2522wreckNames%2522:%255B%255D,%2522allowWaitTimes%2522:true,%2522showDetails%2522:true,%2522itemTypes%2522:%255B%255D,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%255D,%2522locationTypes%2522:%255B%255D,%2522locationNames%2522:%255B%255D%257D
if you can't find a working gold elevator, you can try these. Profits are slim though, if you ignore the bexalite routes which might take a while to buy a full load due to supply. https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes?q=%257B%2522ship%2522:%2522Cutlass%2520Black%2522,%2522investment%2522:10000000,%2522itemName%2522:%2522Recycled%2520Material%2520Composite%2522,%2522itemQuantityInScu%2522:1000,%2522wreckNames%2522:%255B%255D,%2522allowWaitTimes%2522:true,%2522showDetails%2522:true,%2522itemTypes%2522:%255B%255D,%2522itemNames%2522:%255B%255D,%2522locationTypes%2522:%255B%255D,%2522locationNames%2522:%255B%255D,%2522mustHaveHangars%2522:true%257D
thanks
i give you 2. 1 is beryl trade from SM022, usually have working elevators from what im seeing.
2) Bajini point -> Area 18 heph trading. trick is to put regen point on bajini point, after buying from bajini, sell at area18, backspace (suicide) back to bajini point, your gear should still be within the local inventory, claim your ship and go again.
with 64 SCU on a Hull A (rented), i was making 20-23k per 10-15mins. that will be around 80-100k / hr, which is good enough for new players
thanks
Good enough in .1, but with those .2 fuel prices there might not be any profit left over!
When it comes to doing hauling missions- or really any missions- If you do a rookie level mission, will that improve your standing with the junior/member/etc. levels? Or will it don't effect them at all?
All levels of missions will improve rep and affinity, its just a matter of how much. Usually higher tier missions offer more improvement to your standing with the provider
Sweet, thanks!
Yo how long does it take for demand to reset
Like if I max out the demand how long does it take for it to come down to sell again
15 mins
yo thanks mush
no problem mush
lol
Does the shubin mining elevators work?
go see for yourself. answer is usually no
At this point, about 95%+ of servers do not having working elevators at outposts or scrap yards. There most likely are servers with working ones, but they are very rare and they wonāt stay working for long.
yea
from what i know
elevators get broken when people try to get a 32scu in/out of the elevator
That was the issue at first but last patch they removed the ability to buy too big containers somewhere they can't be spawned.
Issue after that was stuff in the elevator doesn't despawn, there's a video of a guy glitching through the ground and inside an outpost elevator, trying to get the blocked boxes out and unlock the elevator
They failed
Is there any way of loading more than one box at a time for contracted cargo? Outside of enrolling my brothersā help.
Nope
Box by box
Noted; Thankyou!
They need to add a reset state that wipes any objects when the location streams in and out, get rid of some of the abandoned shit too
Obviously fixing the items that bug them out too would be good!
Basic math bro
7 as far as I know
My mother told me there were 3 three types of people in this world
Those that can count and those that can't
Cuz when 4 1scu boxes of rmc in a 8scu stor*all i couldn't get more in
And i found that VERY weird
They're not wrong, 7 fit but 8 also fits š¦š¦
Does the Hull-C work right or is it still busted constantly? I aint buying one if it's broken
is the SCU based on the space inside the crate or including the crate itself? Like if I get a 1x1 wooden box, a 1x1 wooden box won't fit inside of it.
its super duper broken. dont buy it
I have a CCU for the Hull C that I have never executed because it is totally fubar in game at the moment. The C2 is my daily driver for trade
!fit
Anyone know if an ATLS fits in a cutter?
Does anybody know how long specific shop as pryo or terra take to reset? Is there maybe a tool for this times or does it take everywhere the same amount of time?
Did they change it? I don't use the technique as I don't do much cargo, but last I heard you couldn't fill a container with the max scu worth of cargo
Does the Taurus still have the cargo problem? where the cargo can get glitched into the ground and blow up the ship
7scu was the legit max for an 8scu storage container
Unless they did change it, I definitely did put 8 in mine
I'm drawing blanks on trading because of the elevator issue, in addition my Hull C just lost me 7 mil because it wouldn't load and for some reason i couldn't sell back to at least recliam some money. Supe fucking furstrated right now and looking for any pointers on making a $$. Dm is fine if you dont want to post public, i get it o7
Don't spend any money on the hull c
it hasn't really ever worked correctly
I would recommend doing either hauling missions with a regular cargo ship like a c2 or even a c1.
You can also do ninetails bunker farming for boxes.
Salvaging with the vulture is also fine.
Thanks šš»
I thought each item reset at different speeds?
Possible, thats why i asked if theres a tool to check the times
What does this mean?
Is something not properly secured to my cargo grid?
Now it says āCargo Removal Failedā
auto unload can be buggy. Might have to go manually unload instead.
so the argo mole no longer has a ship storage? I noticed both the lockers in the berthing are non functional.
Yeah a lot of ships need their storage lockers updated to function, it's a known issue.
vaugh vs ruto loot whose is better
I have been going with the Vaughn missions. 8 to 11 missions per level and the higher ones have the Weevil Eggs. Prison is a thing however. I don't mess with the comm arrays.
how tf does the terminal work? I sent like 4 rmc down but I onlt got 1? is it because I only ordered 14k?
and the rest is gone too
Wait till the new patch. A lot of the elevator types are broken.
I bought 6x16scu crates at a mining outpost, but I cant transfer them from storage to the elevator. I think its because they're too large, but now I can't sell them back. Is there anything I can do, or have I just screwed myself?
It's not the crates it's the elevators. Basically none of them work at outposts. Yes to your last question unless --- you server hop until you find a server where that elevator works. Then if you're very lucky you'll be able to get your cargo.
How do you test if an elevator works, is it just sending it up and down, or using some test cargo to see if you can lower it?
Just send up and down
Awesome, thank you
I managed to get my cargo, encountered a broken one, had to find another place to sell and then when I did sell it didnt give me my money? I went to the commodity shop, sold it, loaded it onto the cargo elevator and sent it down. I got a screen showing it accepted them, but it didnt go through
Did you try and sell it from your ship?
Yes
