anything under 3k ok
Salvagers; why does the C2 yield RMC so much faster than say, an 890 jump?
Sounds like you may have been on a bad server. When you run into issues like that, switch servers by logging out and back in
5.2k is the highest I’ve been able to break with a rental
You can also technically do Quant with a rental if you use gadgets, but I don't recommend that
once i got quant with rental, but it was quite small rock
with no gadgets
I've noticed that the Vulture only works properly the first time you take it out each day. The second trip, the cargo grids don't function. And the third trip the salvage beam won't collect salvage (SCUs) even though the laser shows it collecting. This has been a consistent bug across the last three patches. Anyone else noticed this?
I had the cargo grid issue today, smashed my vulture into a rock and claimed it and it was good as new. Seems like an issue with persistence (selling while stored) or either selling/storing in general.
Im hoping CIG eventually comes out with ice mining as well for gas/liquid mining
With a different mining mechanic for them
Can you do quantanium mining in a rented prospector
Hi Enraged. Not sure why storing would be an issue since you need to do that in order to sell at TDD. Or am I mistaken?
You don’t have to store your ship to sell cargo from it afaik, unless that’s changed in 3.18
I'm just theorizing on where the disappearing cargo grid bug might be arising from based on what I did (store ship, sell cargo, retrieve ship).
Not reasonably, no
That sounds similar to the "selling gems from a backpack" bug in live
Hi KFC. I tried selling the salvage without storing my ship. No luck. Had to store it. Other posts indicate (at least in 3.18) that you need to store your ship. About to head back out to sell if a second salvage run works as well as the first.
Interesting ok
Could you maybe try it with normal commodity cargo? Like buying and selling some waste or something? Just in case it’s something to do with RMC specifically
Is there a fix or something I could do to get the scanner to work trying to mine and its just not working?
If you're in the asteroid belt, just keep going, lots of asteroids are unscannable. You can see which are which from up to 12km away
If you're on a moon or ROC mining, switch servers
Also try sometimes to EVA and reach far enough you drop from the ship channel, then come back (even that does not work every time but quite often).
Hey, if my roc is bugged (will no longer move or mine even when all systems are on), and I respawn it will it still have the minerals I mined?
it should. hop out, move to the rear of the ROC and access the cargo hold directly. you should be able to manually move your mined gems to your armor+backpack.
Anyone use excel to keep track of their trades?
no, claim spawns a brand new one with no inventory
it will only have the loadout you last saved
yeah those were the people flying the derelect ships. Spent too much time in their Mobi-glass, didn't see the missiles xD
where is the best place to mine with a rented prospector ?
@rocky veldt yikes, that's tough ... cause it assumes that mining solo in a rented Prospector is even worth it... see, the disparity between Quantanium (#1 mineable) and the next 5 valuable resources (#2-#5) is SO vast that unless you can find ONLY Bexalite (which you won't cause it breaks up poorly)... Rented Prospector mining is only worth it mining with another player that is in a Prospector (even rented) or Mole ... so you can jointly crack open multiple Quantanium rocks
ok. ive already tried in an a lagrange point and the first session it worked but this one just broke nothing to mine and i just exploded without warning
it is EXTREMELY risky... no doubt ... but the payout is INCREDIBLE!
as you can see in that top left box in green... its roughly 260,000 aUEC profit for a full Prospector
as opposed to 100,000 aUEC profit for a Prospector full of Laranite and the like
i see but mining a quantanium rock is extremely risky because it is really sensitive and im just not good with time limits
In that case.. stick to Laranite until you've improved your mining skills... last I recall, Laranite was abundantly present on Aberdeen and Yela ... but you'll want to ask around cause its been a LONG time since I intentionally mined Laranite!
if you look at that first chart i posted off of SC Trade tools, you'll see a resistance stat of 0.55 for Laranite ... SUPER easy to crack solo in a rented Prospector!
okay will definitely try that
@rocky veldt Best of Luck!... you'll be a Quantanium Miner in no time flat!
Is the mole still borked?
It's not bugged, it's broken down/overheated. Need to repair more often.
Oh cool thanks lol, I didn't repair or refuel at all
what si the website that helps with your routes
Curious if there's a way to smoothen the decreasing and increasing of the laser intensity when using your mouse wheel while mining, it makes it quite a bit harder to level the laser intensity when you scroll the tiniest bit and it decreases by like 10%
Same thing happens with Throttle
very snappy

In what way?
I thought I had heard it wasn’t working or had a bug in earlier 3.17 patches
Its not having any issues other than sometimes the QT drive HUD vanishes out of no where.
But still usable without it as it still has the sounds associated with it
The specific bug you're thinking of (where the MOLE had no ore cargo capacity, so it was unusable) has been fixed
I have heard there are still other bugs, notably that sometimes people in some mining turrets can't see details of the rock when other people can
Any of you hardcore miners been doing much in 3.18? How about salvage? Curious to know how it compares to the service beacon spam they're letting us do rn
yknow looking at the trade tools site
i'm getting the impression that belt mining is shit
Ignore what the trade tools site says about mining. Belt mining is the second least shit mining currently available to us
first being lyria right?
Correct
and just to make sure belt mining is the aaron halo
and no other space mining source is as good at giving quant rocks?
In my experience, other space mining locations are too sparse
Only seeing 1-2 rocks in view at a time
So even if it's the same or better Quant rocks by percentage, you see so many fewer rocks that it's not as good
fair enough
alright
i really need to consider if going to lyria is just a no brainer
i do belt mining for safety
is lyria "unsafe"?
its less safe than the belt, but I wouldnt say its unsafe
yeah... the belt is like, super hard to find things at
You're basically never going to be found in the belt, but on lyria theres only a certain amount of moon that you could be on, so if someone really wants to find you they could
but if you're smart about it, you can make it a lot harder for someone to find you
dont turn on your lights at night, dont warp to om-1 and then fly down (pirates will look there since its a common spot to start mining), avoid mining near any POI (point of interest), ping regularly to see if there are any far off signatures that are farther away from you than a rock would normally be
Warp from one place on lyria to another, break quantum when youre halfway to your destination, and then fly down
yeah that sounds too risky for my like 💀
i'm probably gonna take a small moment halting my mining grind and do a little trading
mmmmaybe not
I went back to Daymar Cave no one home.
You need a mission in order for there to be reliable spawns there
I’ve only been shot at once on Lyria. That said I’ve had good mining in the belt. Fjord’s advice is good. Keep a low profile when on Lyria.
However, if they don’t end up nerfing salvage, I find that it is faster and generally more lucrative than mining at the moment. But a bit more boring. And less stressful. And more buggy.
do we know if we'll keep buccaneer as a loaner once vulture is out?
depends. Some cargo ships have a fighter as loaner
caterpillar and corsair have bucc as loaner actually for example
as far as i know all loaner ships for a certain ship are removed once that ship is flyable
hey question about picking up cargo
got to the package, but its underground and i cant access it. What do i do?
I guess it'll lose prospector loaner but logic would say it keeps bucc. I was just wondering if there was official announcement about it already or not
https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003093114-Loaner-Ship-Matrix
its loaner for AC, but you can fly them in PU
even hurricane got loaner (super hornet)
fine by me. if I can get a free bucc as fighter to start it'll save me time and money
This is the correct answer. You get a fighter for AC with any "non combat" ship. However the fighter for AC can be flown in the PU as well.
Prospector gives you an arrow.
what's best place for box missions? hurston doesn't seems to have them
crusader have a lot
will go check it then. thx
why does my prospector keep beeping at me
Where are people finding Idris I haven't seen one yet
I have only seen 890, c2, random wing looking thing and titain
if you've quant in it then hurry back to station
oh just saw the time. you might have blown up already
sometimes it keeps beeping even after you unload quant
it beeps when i don't have quant
i'm just minding my own business in mining mode
and just "beebeep beebeep be-be-beep"
🤔 weird. I'd that when they implement quant mining as a bug but it was long time ago
Sounds like Morse code while flying around the belt? Never figured out what it is
yeah
I don't understand Morse code so I've never bothered trying to decode it. It seems to be a lot more noticeable when drifting decoupled
i'm just moving towards a deposit and it starts doing it
Im curious if theres a way to filter out so you only collect a certain kind of material?
I know about the FLTR modules but i've seen some people with a full cargo's worth of a single material while I keep heading home with like... 1% of what I actually want
find the right rocks
i got told that anything below 20% quantanium is NOT worth mining
yuh
I went to the Daymar Cave no enemies to loot mined a Hadanite stone yielded one gem and lost 50 k in armor guns later so 20 % Quant sounds pretty good!
Newish to the game looking to have fun cargo running or mining hmu
you should post in #looking-for-session , you're more likely to find someone there
oh sorry thought thats where I was at my bad
all good
Did a smidge of ROC mining then the game 30k'd lol
ROC mining is pretty fun honestly. Though I couldn't tell if it was 30k or the game but can you not mix different crystals in the ROC? Hadanite and Aphorite for example?
you can definitely put different gems into the rock at the same time
I favor the darkside of Daymar much easier of the eyes.
Yeah but I was nearer to Wala lol
this is my first time properly visiting the halo, and its really cool
its very atmospheric
the freelancer max, the only thing it seems to sacrifice based on on starcitizen.tools is some missle racks?
the RSI webpage doesn't have all stats listed so I don't know if it actually is also less mobile than the base variant
its little bigger, got 1,5 times heavier and ~1,5 times less HP
and same missile loadout as base variant
Ah I missed the width part
so it being heavier also makes it more unwieldy in-atmo I guess? @mighty orchid
and you got slightly worse acceleration in space too
I see, thanks mate, I think I might just splurge and buy the default and the max together instead of 1 of them
Hey guys so I picked up some cargo and forget what it was called and now don’t know where to sell it 😅 it’s a bunch of blue barrels, anyone know what it is?
You can check your cargo at any admin terminal
How do i eject my minerals out of prospector?
Alt+J I believe
It's either ALT+J or CTRL+J
is your proximity warning on? haha
not sure!
So the vulture, is it planned to do any other sorta salvaging or is it just designed for hull scraping forever
Its just a hull scraper
Reclaimer is for hull munching once it comes out
Ok. I’m really looking forward to salvage right now. I love mining but hunting quant deposits got a little boring, but scavenging wrecks that are more common just seems so fun
I'm waiting for it either. my Vulture is kept warm in the hangar 😁
Don't want to try it in ptu to not spoil me the fun
Same. I only recently got a vulture thanks to a cool ccu I got but I have been excited to use the vulture ever since
Quant might be a good income but I'm not found of having to wait hours before getting my paycheck. So roc mining and salvage will be a good road to me
anyone have a good cargo trade route they can give to a newer player?
If I recall their is a website that does all that for you
Gives you best routes and such
ok ill look that up, thanks
So I have some money on hand recently and I want to get into mining. I am planning on purchasing the prospector but I need a means of transporting my refined cargo. I am debating on getting the cutlass black for it multi role function or the Hull a which has more space but less multi role capability. Any of y’all have advice on either of the ships?
if you can get a FL max it'll do all of that in better imo. More scu and huge space if you want to get into roc mining. It also can defend itself if needed
Thank you!
Would this still be the best choice if I just want to Mike with the prospector?
Once I have my vulture and c1 spirit I’m set for whatever trade or salvage I want to do

Anyone got any idea how ship mounted tractor beams may work? Like my guess is it will be like a mounted multi tool with a camera and move stuff that way. I just didn’t know if there was any written info on what was planned
Especially with how many cargo ships have tractor beams
This might work both like mining mode or remote turret. Furthermore, Taurus got manned tractor beam turret, so it shoud be just like regular turret, but with tractor beams
So I am running a HOSAS system and I am wondering is there a way to use my sticks to fly and use turrets but switch to mouse just for mining?
Yes, they're separate, so you can use both. Why would you want to, though? You can mine with sticks, and using a joystick knob or slider or similar for mining power is much better than a mouse wheel
The problem I am currently running into is I have the (up and down) set to my right sick and (left and right) run by my left sick. The only slider on my setup requires me to release my left joystick to control the power output
You generally only need to control power when stationary anyway
but with mouse you release your joystick anyway
so what is the point?
Has both left/right and up/down on mouse I assume
I would use my mouse with the scroll wheel to control mining all the time and leave gun turrets to be controlled by the joysticks
Again... Why though? You can control mining with sticks...
But yes, it's possible and that's how it is by default, unless you've intentionally removed the mouse bindings
is it even possible to bind strafe to mouse?
Who said anything about strafe
I assume he's talking pitch and yaw
up/down and left/right must be strafe
... No? Pitch and yaw.
whoever bind pitch and yaw on different joysticks?
People who only have two axes on their right stick
Currently I have all movement functions unbound from my mouse and it controls the look function, the sticks control flight movements. I want to be able to control the movement of the mining laser turret with the mouse
And want the second as roll
Roc, Mole or Prospector
Mole
You can't have different bindings for gun turrets and mining turrets.
Ok that was my question, the system is set up to just see turrets as turrets. Wish they had a button to switch between joystick control only and mouse control only. Would fix my issue
As for my setup, I actually have pitch and roll on my right stick so I can roll sharply and then pitch up or down for really sharp turns. My yaw is controlled on my left so I can bump it left and right for pivot turning. I don't like rotating a joystick I feel like it causes false inputs on the other axis.
Where are your strafe inputs? The whole point of hosas is to be able to get all six axes analog control right there
I use my inboard thumb control stick to strafe
I have a Gladiator in my left hand so I have 3 control sticks I can control with my left thumb as needed. One is thrust limiting with a click to cruise control and the one next to it controls strafe
Also, these are spaceships, not aircraft, roll+pitch is not as fast as just directly yawing/pitching to the orientation you want
But if you like your setup, go for it
Not sure the word when I stay control sticks I mean the small directional stick on the head of the actual joystick
Hat
Which doesn't give you anywhere near the precise control that the stick itself does
Ah thank you, Just finished a day at work so little slow and tired
I honestly set it up this way because it was the quickest way to map it and get started, I need to remap everything and dedicate a day to getting used to the new control configurationg
I need to get used to space flight controls and being acclimated to turning using pedals
The standard way of doing hosas is right stick pitch yaw roll (either roll or yaw can be twist, your choice), left stick for forward/back, left/right translation, with up/down on twist
re-acclimated excuse me
You're right that twist will result in some coupled input on an Axis you don't want, but that's something that goes away with practice, and I'd wager you get a lot less of it than you do by using the little analog hat
I will give it a try. Nobody else from my group is on so tonight would be a good time to give it a try
Remember you can load into a solo Arena Commander session to test your controls without having to risk dying in the PU
I don't have twist on my right stick, so I have yaw on pedals. I know the spaceship pros would put yaw on right stick and roll on the pedals... I tried that for a bit but I've spent too much time in aircraft and normal flight sims to break that habit
Gonna need to make some keybind remap too, but too lazy for that
One other thing you could do is put mining throttle on modifer+forward/back of left stick like he does here https://youtu.be/iIwhwo3aHGc
That allows you to keep both hands on your sticks while mining
I tried that for a bit but I think it would work better if you had an normal aircraft throttle instead of a centering stick for it, it was too much trouble to have to hold the stick in place for me
In this video, I demonstrate my joystick mining technique!

And now I start rebinding.. Gross lol
Make sure you export your bindings when done!
Or at least write it down or take Screenshots of the settings
Is the reclaimer the only ship with salvaging or is there others?
So reclaimer the only purchasable ship with uec for quite a while?
Yea i wanna start doing salvaging but didn't know if there was any that only needed like 1-2 people to do but ig not.
Vulture is 1, but I don't know what it's going to cost off hand.
Well i might buy a reclaimer cause me and my friend play a lot and my other friend is getting it soon so it will be used eventually
Ah, that could be a good fit, then
Any idea on what the reclaimer’s cost will be?
Damn looks like I need to figure out how to make money then since my first 3 days I’ve made net 100k lol
it also basically is a bitch to fly
I thought it was more from memory, but I might be remembering the redeemer instead.
I fr bought a redeemer yesterday
But can't remember the cost ngl
I was not remembering the redeemer. 🤣
15M with ref to SC wiki
Im excited to see what CIG comes up with to make multicrew gameplay more worthwhile
From gameplay a saw the reclaimer multi crew looks like a lot of fun especially if you switch up roles.
Will definitely be awesome once hull munching is implemented
Yeah can’t wait to be a galactic garbage man as dumb as that sounds
I saw a video from Redditt a Vulture and a Caterpillar (Cat) working in tandem and I think this can be done with two people. Since I have a twin account and two PC's close by I might be able to run both person's chores by myself. Thoughts?
That true!!
fr
In game or for real money?
In game
Do you want to mine with other people? Get Mole.
Or do you want to own a large ship that doesn't actually have any use currently? Then get Reclaimer.
There will be a wipe for 3.18, so you won't be able to use the Reclaimer for salvage
Fair enough
I just wanna test ships out for now to see how i am w em
But yea ill prob get mole then ty
Or do you want to own a large ship that doesn't actually have any use currently?
I didn't, but now I do.
Sounds like me with my RAFT haha
Love how it looks.. wish it worked though haha
3.19 cant come soon eenough
I was just viewing a Vice run in the PTU from Noobs Gaming YT channel and he said you cannot sell Vice in this case with other party members on the ship/part of the crew. Is this true? If so will it transfer over to the PU?
How does one sell mined materials?
You can sell directly at the Refinery location. Or, you can refine the ores then sell it at a TDD in a major city.
3.19 will be a long time coming considering the progress of 3.18
@exotic merlinbut for second option you need cargo ship, you cant transport refined ore with prospector
I have a caterpilar
That fine?
I have a mole as the miner and i have a few cargo ships
yeah, just any with enough cargo space
Okk
If i sell unrefined i can skip the cargo ship right?
Sell straight from the mole?
Yep, but you got 2x price for refined
But costs more right?
You got, for example, 44 aUEC for 1 unit of raw quantanium and 88 aUEC for refined.
You need to pay for refinery and wait some time, but its way more profitable
U can get refinery ships right?
Especially when you have large cargo ship, so you can stack multiple refinery orders
Personally, i use following scheme:
One day for mining, refinery(i use "ferron exchange" method), then sell when all of the refinery jobs done
Fair enough
If you used a freelancer max to run a full qountanium load how much money is that
And how much would I need to mine time wise to fill it up
Lets see. 88 per unit, 8800 per SCU, so something like 1 mil for a full Freelancer MAX.
As for time - depend of how lucky you are. Sometimes the first rock you scan is good to mine, sometimes you can waste like half an hour to find one you should mine. So, in general, id say like 1 prospector per 45-60 minutes.
And you need 4 full prospectors of raw material to load fully freelancer max
But again, if you're lucky - you can do it faster. The main thing - to find rock, which cam give you full prospector load.
Is microtech a good rock?
For quant its mostly lyria or asteroid belt
could sb help me with trading? i just dont know what to get and the Trade tools arent working
Thanks for doing the calculations for me lol
Best trade route atm for c2?
Lyria Is best, the belt is trash
Anyone who says so just wants to fly there to pretend they are role-playing the Expanse
Which is fine but don't tell people it's better than lyria it's not
It does have some advantages over Lyria, along with some disadvantages.
best places to mine hadanite in a prospector? or do i have to use the roc?
like are they asteroid belts to mine hadanite?
Hadanite can’t be mined with a prospector, gotta use a ROC
Best place to mine hadanite is on Aberdeen
damn, cuz i left my roc on a planet and now its gone from my fleet manager
You’re looking at a vehicle retrieval terminal and not a ship retrieval terminal, right?
asop terminal, do i have to go to a mining facility to get it back?
Where are you right now
i guess cuz i assumed i could pull out my dragonfly i could also get my roc
cru l1 dream station
That’s why
gotcha
You’d have to go to a mining outpost for it to appear on the ASOP terminal
ok thank you
Not just mining outposts, any ground ASOP -- New Babbage and Lorville also have them
Your dragonfly appears on stations since it can fly in space, the roc...can't
Is Lyria the best place to mine qountanium?
Lyria or the Aaron Halo (asteroid belt). Each has advantages and disadvantages
Ok thank you
is eclipse good for pvp bounty hunting?
oops
It’s good only because it has essentially a torpedo that can destroy anything in one shot
Bad because of that torpedo fails and your opponent gets close your as good as dead
And from what I’ve heard the stealth on it doesn’t really work
And the missiles are hard to find and bugged out sometimes
This is also the wrong chat for the question so probably ask some guys in the combat channel
What's a good entry-level cargo hauler, and what should I be trading at first? Is it still drugs? 🤔 Can I keep trading nonstop?
A freelancer max or a connie taurus are the two entry level cargo haulers
I love my MAX. It's just a good ship. Connie is solid though.
if only max (and all FL) had a cockpit update...
FL max is phat
I honestly like their global shape but I just don't like the feeling on the seat. Like if you were driving a very uncomfortable and un-ergonomical SUV or van
I just bought the max and from what I hear it is a very capable ship
Lots of space and capability to defend itself a little
I mean that's part of why I like the Max. Feels like I'm in some old VW bus that's been overhauled to haul more random crap.
I took the Max into a Bounty fight against two live players. End of story...
i gots the taurus. to me very capable for almost any thing i do. holds more SCU and pretty good size ramp to get some ground vehicles. I cant really speak on Max's internal room obviously lol.
I love the blue lights on that ship!! Nice one.
Sounds like you need yourself an ARGOnomic chair 😉
ARGO > MISC in all ways
Look at these fine comfortable chairs
plushie and curved for your body for those long flights
lool if only argo had more multirole ships
Agreed. WE WANT MORE ARGO SHIPS CIG!!
ARGO MPUV-M (Mining) would be hella pogged up
A flying ROC, thats all it needs to be.
2SCU storage for the minerals, ezpz
It'd be actually so good though. Think about it. The most annoying part of ROC mining is getting the damn thing in and out of the ship.
The most annoying part of ROC mining is ROC mining
ROC mining is fun, I dunno. Scooping up the gems enmasse after blowing up smol rocks is nice.
you're free to just take your roc and drive from nods to nods too
Roc mining would be nice if it didnt take so long. Cant trust to load a ship with cargo like that without a crash/disconnect.
If i could actually trust the persistence of my ship, id be willing to advanture more
well it's not a lot of time lost to go sell half way for example
usually it's just a qt to nearest base
Yea, until you 30K and the entire load poofs.
Hey guys did 3.18 drop yet?
No
that's the only risk with roc mining. Same thing with trade. BH you can get destroyed. I guess it add some spice to it xD
Back to the old days where 30k's took people's cargo into the abyss.
Hello darkness my old friend
Hadanite and dolivine back to normal price on 3.18
normal price?
Hey guys, right now there are only 2 ships and 1 land vehicle to mine right? And the ships are "medium/big" right?
Yes, although there are technically two ground mining vehicles
The ROC and the ROC-DS, which is just the ROC but bigger and for two people instead of one
And the less expensive ship is the prospector correct? As being in italy the price after taxes is high ehehe, as i think the difference between paying real money or using credits in game is that if you buy it with real money you'll keep it forever right?
Yes and yes. If you buy a ship ingame then it’s yours to keep until there is a wipe, in which case all your ingame progress gets reset. However, the prospector is a relatively cheap ship to buy ingame, so I would honestly reccomend buying a cheap starter ship IRL and getting enough money ingame to buy a prospector
alright, and there is a wipe like in march for the 3.18 right? After the wipe i'll try to farm it, thanks!
Yeah, there’s a wipe whenever 3.18 releases, which will be sometime soon
Could be two weeks, could be two month, nobody knows
Alright thanks! And yes, i saw its farely cheap to buy, i'm just sad that now i'm my country the ships from SC had their prices increased 22% more
Yikes, that sucks
sorry if i ask this here, last question i promised, will there be an expo next update?
In it is launch week is is in a few months I think
I don’t know the date, but that’ll have an expo and it should be happening relatively soon
next expo is alien week and it's around june usually
ILW in May is before Alien Week
Alien Week also doesn't have an associated expo
So I've got about 7 million and I'd like to try mining
What's the most profitable way I can do this
buy a prospector
oh right! forgot about that one. when is it then?
May
oof can't even read xD thx
Does it come kitted out with everything I'll need?
hello all im brand new and trying to learn the game if anyone is able to spare some time and teach me dm me
no, you need to upgrade the mining gear to mine quantainium
upgrade the mining laser to a Lancet I
I thought MH1 was best
lancet is the most stable i think
Which do I get
...yes, the Lancet MH1
Lancet MH1
what stations can i spawn the reclaimer at, stations i used to be able to spawn it at arent letting me
Grim hex is the only station, otherwise you gotta spawn it planetside
Grim Hex
why is that?
me and a buddy just bought cargo and its not showing in our ship, did we do something wrong or is that a bug
admin is the trading terminal right
yep
Thanks
so I stored my prospector but all my qountanium disappeared
if it goes to the red light does your load disappear?
Did you stow your ship as soon as you got to the lobby? If you land and it goes critical, you'll only have inert left. If you can store the ship before that, you're good
The red light indicates you've got but a minute or two before boom
I think it went critical bc all I had was inert
thats enoying
I stayed to get as much as possible on lyria
now I know
Ill have to go mining with one of yall so I can actually be succesful
you can always jump back to ROC mining, slightly lower profits but you're not racing against the clock
Did you land in a hangar? If so, you hit that bug.
Don't land in a hangar. Always impound.
You are racing the 30k gods though
I did land in the hanger
I didn’t know that was a bug
So you can’t ever land in a hanger if you have qountanium
You can but it's risky. Might work twenty times just fine but then fail the next
Anyone got a updated resource list for profitable mineables?
actually the 30k gods have not forsaken the roc, if a 30k occurs you can just pull out your roc in any location with its inventory intact
30 K is the best crash to get...The triple red error boxes are the worst. Take heed and take a 15 minute break before starting a new game session.
False. ROCs don't get 30k protection. You'll be able to pull them out anywhere, but they won't have their inventory. Also, you'll often get the 30k while in the ship, in which case you'll be able to retrieve the ship and the ROC will still be inside...but the ROC's inventory will be gone.
i gotta test this again then because i remember experiencing alot of 30ks during SOO release and still having all my sweet sweet hadanite
ill update when i get the chance
Hmmm, maybe there are some circumstances where it works but it's less reliable than ships? I know what a lot of people do is transfer all the gems to their ship since it's safer there
Ain't nobody got the time nor the RSI-proof-wrist for that
next update do have a transfer all button though
I just got back from another mining run and my qountanium has seemingly been tuned into inert material
this is like the 3rd time this has happened
I even made sure to get it impounded
I haven't gotten a single mining run done and ive been trying for two days
am I doing something wrong?
How
If you just waited outside a hangar door to get impounded, that's the first time I've heard of it going inert that way
If you go into a hangar, it can turn inert
did you land when you got it impounded?
you shouldn't land because the landing itself is what might turn it inert
Hey guys, do you have a favorite video that talks about and make you learn mining?
heres a rule of thumb i go by
i personally believe being intoduced to a mining crew is better than any video. theirs great guides out their to use as reference materials but its very subject to change at times
Any other good stuff to mine besides quant If maximizing profit isn’t the goal? Like right now I want to just mine but don’t need to make a tone of money and hunting down quant rocks is just a bit annoying. Any decent minerals out there that could be ok-ish?
https://vngd.net/mining-guide/#SMG Heres a relatively Up to date profit guide for mining but if your not looking for max cash just mining to mine works
Ahh ok didn’t know if there was like a common mineral that could be profitable if mined in bulk like titanium or something
The problem is that quantanium is both 2x more valuable than the next most valuable ore, and much easier to find in large quantities than other ores
Ahh ok. I know I should stick to quant mining but I always thought bulk mining other stuff would be more interesting. Maybe one day with a dynamic economy it could be but if quant is the only thing worth it so be it. At least I’ll soon be able to use my vulture for doing bulk stuff
grabing a few buddys and a mole and just filling it up with no time crunch is always enjoyable i suggest that. i dont mess with quant cause it likes to go boom
Hi guys! Where can i read more about salvaging? As i'm curious about the Reclaimer
since its still PTU their isnt much documentation. it is however VERY easy compared to mining. as a reclaimer shill who dropped the cash on it (its my 2nd ship) i recommend if playing solo you use the vulture.
that said Salvage is very simular to the process of mining where you have a salvage head, its fairly point and click.
here is a guide based off what is expected/ implemented at this time.
dont know why it weirdly cropped the image
Thanks! And no, i won't be solo, as i was looking for a ship that could do "many" contracts and a ship that could host some friends. Wanted to ask: the reclaimer says its for 4-5 people but i saw there are 6 remote turret: are there the ""chairs"" for 6 players to use these turrets?
i will be when 3.18 goes live be avalable on the guide system to teach and bring people into salvage.
the reclaimer can be ran with a 3 man crew efficently and 2 man semi efficently its got 3 control points for turrets the remote turrets are slaved if i recall but they are bugged to only fire one. hoping its fixed by live
What do you mean by "slaved"?
the remote turrets on the nose and the rear are respectively bound to the mirrored side. they move together but they dont fire together currently
but that shouldn't happen correct?
every turrent should move indipendent?
it has 2 remote stations covering 6 turrets 3 each. one has the two nose guns and a top gun and the second has the two rear and another turret. they are ment to all be able to fire if in the proper arch range on the target. IF I RECALL i may just be wrong
So its a ship that could potentially host 5/6 people? Like 1 pilot, 3 gunners and 2 for salvaging?
i personally would crew it like so
the pilot and co-pilot run the beams
a crewman in the hold stacking boxes
and a gunner on the main gun
this leaves the two turrets and two sensor suites unmanned that if need be co-pilot and box man can manage
it does have 2 more manable stations which i might have an engineer (when component health and repair is in place)
but unless im expecting to be salvageing in the middle of a war zone id only run 4-5 but if you ran double bunking you could run it with 9 men taking up every station.
BUT BUT BUT you can theoretically running triple bunk run all stations with 12-13 men
now you say theirs 4 beds but in navys and space ships that run 24/7 its not uncommon to share bunks and sleep in shifts but the average size youd probly normally run is 4-7
Thanks! As sorry if i say this here, but i'm looking for a 5-6 crew ship, as i have many friends going to buy SC, but i saw that the CO-PILOT doesn't do anything (in the constellation andromeda i couldn't do anything) so i would like to see if i can find a ship that can satisfay us, mainly turrets and pilot
in the future the co pilot controls the big honking massive extending claw. the reclaimer is a well based multi crew ship for a lot of the game play arcs but their are great single arc multi crew ships to.
and it can mainly do salvaging? Or can be used for other thingies?
how much can you make mining with a prospector vs with a mining buggy
you COULD use it as a slow moving fortress, you could use it for cargo hauling but is designed for salvage
Thanks! I love his interiors
That was the original intent but they couldn't figure out how to make it work so they nerfed it so only one turret can be controlled at a time
REALLY!! they better shift the turret access to the other two stations on the console colum
Each station will be able to switch between a couple of turrets. It's super dumb but they said it was too hard to have a single person controlling multiple turrets
the functionality that multiple remote turrets would slave to the same aim point in full remote view was not intended gameplay and only accidently possible. When you are in remote turret view or sitting in a manned turret you're only supposed to have control over that one turret, nothing else.
Thats really annoying i was under the assumption that being slaved was intentional. that severely limits the defensibility of the reclaimer
so I fell into a bunch of ingame money last night. I went from 20k to 3million. So would a prospector be a good investment? like how much more can I earn with that versus a mining buggy
Prospector will get 300-500k/hr with skill and some luck. ROC will be 100-200k/hr
is that mining quantum or the other stuff?
Quantanium is the only thing worth mining if you want to make good money
doesn't it explode in your cargo?
Only if you're slow or make the mistake of landing in a hangar
so where do I land
That's the neat part: you don't
Don't call ATC. Float up to a closed hangar door and wait to get impounded
how are you intended to do it
I literally just said: #industrial-professions message
I mean I saw that, was just wondering how the game intends you to. I get how thats faster. but is that what your like.. "designed" to do
You're intended to be able to land, but there are several bugs around landing in hangars with quantanium currently
SC is full of weird bugs that require "Creative" solutions
I'll be pushing out a new mining guide for 3.18 aswell as a salvage guide for crews and solo.
will be amazing for giving new players when i guide them into salvage LMK once its ready!
can't tell the difference between widebeam and narrowbeam salvage lasers
@shy stag Just been sitting in wait for 3.18. Its been a few patches since i've put out a mining guide so its due
i've enjoyed cargo hauling, but always have trouble finding the unmarked outposts. the secret ones
The wait to 3.18 is killing me. I want to go out and use the vulture I own so badly, go move modes around and trade stuff.
ive been in nothing but my reclaimer all PTU
gonna be cool to softdeath a ship and while they are in it start scraping its hull
so softdeath, how does it work
in essence you disabled the ship past the point of function but not to the point of detonation. i dont know the specifics as so far ive only seen it in video cause im not a PvP focused player. but they lose shields gravity and power mostly. so it just sits their with or without the crew inside living.
neat. guessing that opens up some gameplay options from looting, rescue, or boarding them
mainly boarding and or pirating. imagine softdeathing a fully loaded cat or C2 thats a nice payday
for me i just want to deconstruct your working ship and all i need is to break your sheild
Would full detonation destroy the cargo then?
ok so a few questions,
-
My quantanium turns into inert materials as I mine it, and sometimes gets registered at the refinery as inert materials. How do I prevent this? I’ve lost a few loads because of this.
-
It won’t let me empty my prospector at the refinery right now and set up a work order, although I do have 4 work orders ready to go and be shipped, is there a maximum capacity to sitting work orders?
best planet for quantum mining?
Ice mining, when?
Lyria
their may still be some floating around but most of it yes
You mean backspace?
Ahh so if one wants to steal cargo they must disable and board. Looks like I’m going to be wearing heavy armor and carrying a lmg when doing my trade routes😅
Nice to know! Just had an amazing hour in the vulture on 3.18
@karmic heron theres no max limit for workorders
you cannot load a completed workorder back on your prospector.
its gotta be a cargo ship
Grenades too
Aren’t grenades broken? I have never used them since one person told me they just stick to you and to only use the grenade launcher
They work afaik
any tips for making money hauling and mining in this game?
Haul and mine
any hotspots for mining or ways to track what buys and sells where withough actually being there
I can send you info on the vice routes.
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
lets hear it
It's a word 97 document.
Hey everyone, I'm looking at starting salvage on the PTU where's the best place to start?
Let me know if you want it sent to you please...Happy vice running.
I think people be finding 890 jump hulls around Lagrange points, though you may have the occasional NPC pirate to deal with.
Like with astroids the Lagrange points hold different hulls depending on the points. Around arc corp has the 890s and some other larger hulls
What would be your choice or cargo ship to pair with a Reclaimer... If you didn't want to land on surface, and didn't mind a bit of manual labour transferring boxes across....
MSR imo. fast, agile and lot of space
you can easily put hundred boxes in the back I think
OK ok....i like that... Its a big ol ship though.... Expensive...
I'll need to start with a Lancer, then move on.
Was thinking Taurus... But I always choose that.
grab a FL max then. it's slower but also lot of space. and cheaper
Vulture can get 12SCU iirc. Any idea how much money it represent? Some people say it's better to go duo with a cutlass or another cargo ship to make it worth it?
It's about 7k each scu
oh... not much then. probably a 200k/hour ratio I guess. 3 rotations
Seems it's filling pretty fast
Hull A. External cargo racks make it easy to load
Oooooh!
Ding ding ding... Love me some Hull A
Not sure how useful it'd be though, since Hull A only has 64 SCU and Reclaimer itself has 180
But for pairing with a Vulture maybe pretty good
Nomad would do for vulture. Fast, outside cargo space and even tho it's only 24SCU it can do many travels quite fast
Some are using the Caterpillar...
woow for a very long session eventually xD
Why is the sell cap for so many stations so low
I don't see how trading is supposed to be profitable to offset the risk of carrying like 300k auec cargo when going around
Because the trading system isn't fleshed out and they forgot that this is supposed to be an MMO
I tried to run asta and med between shubin mining and rayari anvik, but the rates are so LOW
if you want to trade large amounts of cargo, you need to choose items that have high limits
So it's more profitable
What the mining and salvage hot spots?
to run like titanium and fill instead of running laranite or asta or med or something?
Also is there a fast way to get to trade terminals in cities?
Since the big stock sells are all cities, but I have to run all through the subway
Go to place that sells laranite and titanium. Buy all of the laranite that's available, fill the rest of your hold with titanium.
Similar for other commodities--buy all of the low-stock high-value that's available, fill the rest with low-value high-stock
New Babbage you can land right at the Commons entrance and go in that way. Other cities, unfortunately no
Ah ok, does the commons terminal count my ship if I land it outside?
Like if I park my freelancer on the ice lake can I sell from it
It should yes
Oh nice
You can spend more trips getting the higher value items - store out and back store - then when you start to chicken out finish off the load and sell.
Maybe I'll run like an asta and med around mt for the fast terminal
Lorville has a garage entrance...
Oh nice maybe I'll go there then
Scope it out first...
Still need to ride the tram to get to the business district
Wait it has a garage entrance?
yeah
It has several, around the exterior of the city. Unlike the New Babbage one, going there with a ship doesn't give you immediate access to useful things like shops and the TDD
also I've heard that the restricted flight area extends quite a ways past that so you can't land super close anyway
Are those the gates I see the trams take you to?
7.7k a box
that makes 92.4k/run... not that bad if it takes less than 30mins
you could definingly do it in under 30 mins a relcaimer with minimum crew fills in 60-90 minutes
chill 200k/hour. Like roc but without much luck involved
Lorville is opening up the cityscape post 3.18.
Hey guys so i tried mining and i wasnt really paying attention and as i did the refining i ended up with this, is there any way to split the load so i can actully transport it becuse i dont have any other ships besides a rental Prospector 😦
you wouldn't be able to transport it in prospector anyway. My guess is go rent a cargo ship and come back with it. cutlass can be rent at refinery if I'm not mistaking
Yes I believe so
But someone had sent me like 20 mill and I bought the Hercules
A while back
Ok thanks i rented it see if i can move it now 🙂
It worked i had to relog first but when i came back ingame the ship was available on the display thanks again!
Will a ROC-DS fit in a Cutty Black?
nope
Dolovine isn't a mineral, it's gems. It's sold at the admin terminal (galleria level, look for the yellow walls), not the refinery
What ground vehicle has the most space in it?
Ursa I think has 4scu
What kind of space?
Space for people? Is standing room okay?
Space for delivery boxes?
Actual cargo space?
boxes
Delivery boxes?
STV has two dedicated spots for those. Cyclone could probably fit several on its back truck bed
yeah alright, i looked it up earlier probably just gonna get hte cyclone
Ursa would be a bad choice here, delivery boxes tend to fall through the floor
What are you wanting this for? There's very little reason to need to use a ground vehicle for packages
those drug missions wher eyou gotta destroy them, was gonna sell them
Anyone wanna tag along with me im doing mining for the first time an have no idea what I'm doing
what are you using
A mole
For some reason I cant fit my dominator 2's and thunderbolt 3's on my gladius, anyone has a clue why?
I found one of the aberdeen caves had a find client mission plus there were gem stones. I shot the guard by accident and got a bad crime Stat. Going out a bounty hunter shot me dead.
anyone mining
we are
are you in the discord
in the new or chill chat
Im trying to get back into minimg but due to me not doing it alot previously mostly forgot everything
So the 2 ships I need would ofc be a prospector, but what other ship should I buy to transfer the ores properly?
Depends on how often you wanna transfer refined ore. Freelancee max can transfer 4 full prospector loads. Cutty black(even rented) is good for 1 load
They’re worth basically nothing, it’s a waste of time if you’re trying to earn money.
How long does it take to refine a full load of that good stuff again I forgot the name
The ore that makes you rich
Quantanium
For a full Prospector (32 SCU) it's 36 hours if you use the slowest/cheapest method (Dinyx) or 12 hours if you use the next one up (Ferron)
Dinyx and ferron have the same refining efficiency, except ferron costs a bit more and is 3 times faster
Which honestly makes it a million times better
2x cost for 3x speed
Alright and i can refine a 2nd load while 1 is busy?
You can, yes
Perfect
So freelancer max is good enough
How bout trading is that still a nice thing if I for example get one of those bigger cargo ships,m
For making money
The MAX is one of my favorite ships for both ROC mining escort and also for carrying Quantainium to the Market. As for other trade, that won't be too good. Trade, as it stands, only favors the largest of ships (C2, CAT, etc). Small trade profit hasn't returned yet
I've been favouring the Taurus for ROC sitting.... The footprint is smaller than it looks and the trip down to the ROC is really easy...
I swear the scanner is better on it too....
well elevator kinda adjust to the ground so even if it's not really flat it makes it easy to land next to cutlass
Imo Nomad also is underrated for roc carrier. it's ramp is making it very easy to land on not flat areas
yet...
MAX has been the optimal carrier because of size and easy RORO. I have the Taurus but I always default to the MAX for ROC duty.
the only thing stopping me from getting any freelancer - cockpit
i hate it so much
Got it, thanks.
So I buy the Prospecor for quantanium mining, what else do I need to get situated and where do I look for quantanium?
A lancet head, whichever modules you want I only suggest Surge to start with to pop up your heat on the rock but lots of opinions.
Most search on Lyria but there's some great guides out there to aaron halo too
Lacent MH-1
?
Lets say this one.
I have the ability to buy myself a C2 right now, the C2 Hercules Starlifter, if I'd buy it for trade runs what is the best trade run I could do atm?
Or a Caterpillar, can also buy that.
It depends what you want to risk. The most profit I've made in a C2 was running laranite/titanium and it's a pretty big risk for a pretty low profit. Stims are less risky and still pay out okay in comparison.
As long as there is a decent profit in it I am fine by doing it I can gather a escort group rather quickly heh.
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
Relatively speaking, cargo is in a bad place, but how much fun you have is far more important than how much you can make.
profits are too low to justify splitting it with an escort group tbh
cargo makes shit profits for the risk involved
Even without the risk it would be bad is the thing
entire C2 of titanium (highest bulk buyable ore) pays about 100k profit, which is just pathetic
with a full C2 of laranite/Titanium if you get 100k/run it's a lucky day
I usually risk somewhere in the mid 900k range and make about 160k back? Don't know exactly but it takes forever to go planetside and back as well.
time needed as well
Alright then thats definitly not worth it.
I was pretty sure with cargo refactor they'd buff cargo, but to my surprise and awe they have just left it bad.
Lets hope they fix it in 3.18 so the hull A or whatever Hull would be nice playing.
Not in 3.18, maybe beyond
they buffed the ability to fuck traders harder though

Oh yeah.
Not to mention the new QED scorp
so in 3.18 cargo's profit is as low as now, but MUCH MUCH more risky
their schedule is fix flight model and weapons balance then work on trading iirc
It can be fun to do a little cargo, sorry if this is disheartening - SC is fluid.
Cargo was once the big bux
hoping they introduce smth like freight contracts with the hull C's series
Yeah I remember those days heh
Exactly.
We'll see but for now its a no.
because realistically no bloke with a Hull C will buy his own cargo
Even if they upped demand for contraband high value small concentration stuff
he would be flying for space Fedex
D3Coupled, for the Prospector I need to buy the Lacent MH-1?
yes
Yeah, Lancet is not the most expensive or powerful, but it has a better tolerance for unstable materials - particularly quantanium
less likely to kaplode the quant rock
Until Q is not the hard meta and vastly better than any other mineral(sad) that's the laser for you
I hope the data shows a lot of miners swapping over to the much more chill salvage, it's very reminiscent of old style prospector mining
Aye, I am going to watch YT for a bit, go on shopping again and then I should be good.
Do I need to do anything with the Prospector's systems like Quantum Drive or anything to give me the range I need to go to where I must refine?
faster qt could be nice yeah. I used rush on mine some month ago iir
at least old style mining was about 3-4 types of minerals and you could fill up without having to go back asap
Those was good days
I'd either buff non Q minerals or eventually nerf Q to make mining fun again tbh
Is the Prospector's QT really slow, will it make a huge difference or is it just a luxury?
but a XL-1 QT drive for speed
They might make QT party of the mining missions. Buying a claim. The rest is available at any time
Do I need any other systems so my ship doesnt dies internally with that?
the industrial modules that the MISC Prospector comes with supply enough power
XL-1 gives your prospector the QT range of a baby though
but the speed is hard to beat
besides most on the time any mining location you go to is at most 10 Mill
so you will be fine
and speed is Key when you quant mine
it's useful to have fast QT when you've quant and you have your ship screaming to go back to refinery
I liked that "drift around the black" aspect, and I also liked the odd time it being worth getting out to hand mine a bunch of hadanite on an asteroid. Vulture brings both those things back in its own way.
And I don't have to deal with broken ass, RNG scanning
WRong size
You're thinking VK
Wouldn't bother upgrading any systems besides the mining head personally.
Yeah prob saves me on time I can use for mining going all the way to PO or A18
No doubt. I would however suggest watching an updated scanning video, which will save you the most frustrating part of prospector mining IMO
Do you mind linking? I tried finding it but no success

@thin escarp says he's doing an updated guide very soon 🙂
or use the Class B Military Siren if you want the bit extra range with a bit less speed its the second best in my mind
Thanks pal
this is filtered for speed not efficiency
Onward and upward
I will take a look how this goes and see further after
if you wanna look at module performance look at DPS calculator https://www.erkul.games/live/calculator
Depends a bit how far I have to rtavel to a proper refinery
can't wait to have dll the 13Gb update and try salvage on ptu... it'll take most of the night tho 😑
Yeah got that up right now.
Enjoy. It's seriously really nice.
I felt it would be so I pledged (or re-used store credit actually) for vulture during iae
Soon this will be you Thea XD
Very nice.
I must learn how to use multitool first maybe...
It's very easy. And you can pick them up at more places now.
Hold left click to use beam on targeted object(target by looking at it), mouse wheel to move it away/toward you, release left click to drop.
Just make sure when you pick up the multitool you buy the associated tractor attachment and equip it on your person.
planet side mining with ROC-DS or Mole if interested
Thx will check that later. I equipped it and tried to lift people in everus couple days ago (it obviously failed) but didn't had opportunity to actually use it so far
better send that in #looking-for-session
i did
Dont I also need Stampede and Surge modules?
You don't need any modules to get the job done in most cases, but both of those can make your job easier. I'd just start with Surge, and use it right at the beginning of your laser heat on a rock to boost up to the green zone faster
There are some advanced techniques but it's a lot of extra when getting started
Alright, then I will also buy those rq at PO I believe.
I just used passives and was able to mine almost anything
Same. I just like Surge because it really cuts down on the time you sit there watching your rock heat.
What does Stampede do then?
It sends pulses of energy into the rock that increase charge rate, but also instability
You can flick it on and off the rock in a way that really speeds things up, but it's dodgy
yes for mining and salvage
Alright, well I am looking some videos right now and I will get shopping.
Just pointing out your vids to another prospector miner 🙂
@pastel flame bless
Yep
How does drug running works?
Well the idea is you buy a small amount and sell it in small amounts for big profit at the risk of being caught, but...

People in chat right now say you can make a million in a hour.
well mining quant is all about luck. Like mining in general
chain big quant rocks and you'll make fast money
or get nothing for half an hour and it'll be a loss
nvm just noticed you were talking about drug trading xD
xD
Doing drug running? Would love to see any proof of it.
Heh yeah, I do want to give it a try though I just want to experience as much content as I can imo.
Whats a good base of operations if mining?
Ay Lyria
I have a lot of good results with Vice running and later will be around for a training run so dm me if you want. Also have summaries in a Word .doc.
I've DMed ya
Smugling is crap yeah but we'll see with st lou
did vice, slam and neon, 30k profit with a freelancer max
Where do I buy stampede modules?
!itemfinder
Use the website to search for any item (and where to buy them) in-game.
That exists as well? Damn
wasn't the galaxy ship in the standalone store of the pledge shop recently
Yes, it was removed.
And good mining method
Is Salvage in the PU?
its in the PTU which just opened up to everyone today
How profitable is salvaging compared to mining Quantanium?
why was it removed
Because it was an initial concept sale. Those only stay on the store for about a month.
So when are we supposed to be getting something like that for real
not a damn clue
that sale was the first concept sale of the galaxy
be prepared to wait 10 years for the release lol
I mean I would have ordered the refining one but I was not sure about at the time it was in the store
I m still waiting for my orion
As in, actually flyable? Yeah, not for a few years, likely.
Would anyone consider renting a ship from a player?
What sort of pitfalls are there about opening up ship rentals?
Just thinking of a bit of a model....
Rent for an hour or so.... Put a claim in at the end of that time if its not delivered.
Would require trust to not put the claim in earlier.
IMO, kinda pointless at the moment without game mechanics
AFAIK, you cant refine mined goods or sell stuff if you are not the owner, so renting for mining and cargo is not the option.
Renting for combat kinda pointless, in case you may lost a ship(because good fighter pilot gonna own his own and renting might be an option for starter) or get the repair/rearm bug, so you need at some point store/claim, but you cant.
For other use cases, you good to go with basically any ship or ingame rented ones
Also only the owner of the ship can call ATC in my experience
personally, called and landed successfully
might be the case me and owner were in party (but still at different locations)
Hmmm, when I've borrowed my dad's ships he has to call ATC
Maybe it's just that the right hand seat in Constellation takes over comms which would be dumb but believable
maybe the way you call it
i use hotkey, so maybe that works
I tried both hotkey and through the mfd
land or take-off?
mb that is the point
Both
Is it possible to move the salvage crates out of the vulture into another ship?
yes, you can move them with the handheld tractorbeam
So I could salvage with a friend standing by with a cargo ship to increase the amount of scrap
damn thats really cool
Would be awesome if that would work with mining ships
Are there any restriction now? Like only the person who own the salvage and cargo ship can actually operate salvage beam and sell recycled materials?
It’s broken but you’re supposed to be able to yes
in what way is it broken?
It worked fine for me
Oh nice! Lots of testers reporting boxes are stuck on the grids. Good to know it’s working for some.
Will the Vulture be a pledge ship in 3.18? Right now it's pledge/concept only.
it'll be release for 3.18 so yeah so far it's still concept
Hey guys! For people who tried with a Reclaimer, do you like salvaging with it? How much money did you made with it?
first salvage! yaaay
can I sell scrap anywhere or it's refinery only?
that's an avenger titan right ?
what was left of it yeah
ok
Also salvaged an inferno earlier too
found another one
All TDDs and the Junkyard. ... TDDs are safer tho. ^^
seems PO doesn't take it. I guess it's big cities only for TDD
Only major Cities have a TDD. ... They'll probably add refineries as selling places at some point (wouldn't be surprised), but for now it's just the TDDs in A18, Orison, NB and Lorville ... and the junkyard
thx. that's a huge loss of time but well it was fun and surprisingly relaxing tbh
Not really. less than 10 minutes in and out. Could be worse.
Good time invest for over 100K ^^
I don't need to have a box already set in my Vulture to start salvaging, do I? I'm scraping a hull right now and my cargo isn't changing at all
Extraction rate 0
Are you salvaging prt of the wreck that’s able to be salvaged?
Cause like thrusters and other parts of the ship will fill the two circled at the bottom, but you wont be able to extract anything from it
Am, yeah. Found a C2 wreck, was pointed at the big flat bit on the top
Long stretch of hull
According to Spectrum the no extraction thing is a known bug
So that's that answered. That sucks though
Well, got my keybinds set properly, and discovered that putting the lasers on gimballed mode lets me move them around with my EYES
Go Tobii tracker go
That’s pretty cool
can I find wreck on moons too or it's space only?
There's surface wrecks as well.
nice! time to go salvage on yela 😁
Best way is just to do low risk beacons or bounties
Make your own wrecks 🙂
no way! that works?
Oh yeah. It's all I do in the vulture. Pirate-free out in the black.
nice! will try that right now. gotta have certification first tho
also what's the difference between abrade and cinch modules?
Not for the beacons, just keep an eye out. If they don't pop in your sector do a few bounties to trigger
Abrade is bigger and I much prefer it but i'm no expert salvager
I see. thx for the tip. I guess abrade is for larger plates. Might gather slower but wider idk

Any other Bad Batch nerds in here catch Omega hand mining in this weeks episode?
found your ship @pastel flame 🤣
LOL nice... I have left a few infernos out there to rot this past week.
My last one is drifting around Crusader after a dirty 30
that's what i tho. Abrade is larger but gather slower when cinch is more precise
jackpot
Abrade is for big wrecks, cinch is for small wrecks
Abrade affects a larger area at once but extracts slower, cinch is the opposite
do I risk to blow up if I fill this not cargo space?
Physics might get fucky and blow the ship up
hey guys learning to mine on planets, im on aberdeen as it was recommended to look for bexalite/taranite/laranite but I've been searching for about 2 hours and yet to find a rock over 10% of these minerals
is there a tip or something I can use to check the rock before flying 10km to each one to find its 90+ crap
That's what happens when mining anything other than quantanium--you're not going to find them in large quantities.
What would you recommend for starting to get into mining via renting as I only have a small amount of credits
I would start with roc mining. Rent a cutlass (30k a day iirc) and a roc (mining car kinda) and go hunt for Hadanite. You'll make some money that'll let you buy a proper prospector
tho I don't recommend doing that now since 3.18 is around the corner and it'll come with a full wipe. better do big farm after that
you can try roc mining and get experience with it to be ready tho
What about for now with my rented proc while I have it rented
unfortunately rent prospector is doomed to gather basic stuff. and as Winter said you wont find big quantity of it. and so make good money of it
damn is there any tips to finding more favourable rocks, even if the basic stuff?
like gems is seeing stuff pop up under 4k
You can earn with it but it's greatest asset is a trainer
Once 3.18 drops imma be doing MOLE mining all day every day
you can join me on that and split the profits
Whatcha mean trainer sorry
Rent prospector is a good introduction to prospector mining
which mean quant mining basically
But you can't mine Quant with rented Prospector so it's not a good introduction at all
No Quantainium mining but you can learn and earn
Quant is the step up. You'll just have to learn quick come back and bug management xD
Except you can't earn much
deffo not a money maker no
that's why I oriented him to roc mining which is also a mining introduction but you can make money of it
Or just do group mining and make way more money without having to rent crap
I will try roc mining tomorrow when my rent runs out, where do I go with it?
Aberdeen, Arial, or Daymar.
Watch a ROC mining tutorial on YouTube first
I usually go on magda too since It doesn't need a pembroke armor
had some successful run there
ty guys I'll have a look
its hard sometimes to watch vids cause you get mixed information since they're years apart but at least I know which 3 planets to aim for
I only look at -6months 1year vid.
Just make sure you watch a video from 3.17 or newer, so within the last year
I usually stop at 4 extra
mining is 3.18 is heavily improved
scouting and all.
it's gonna be huge again dont stress yall
at least quant miners
I'll be back doing huge mining operations 25-45 deep and training weekly. keep a look out for my guides coming in the next couple weeks. I got a bunch of people workin ptu.
anyone able to tell me for what type of quantanium rocks I am looking for before I mine a shitty patch and am forced back with barely anything.
And while mining Quantanium with the prospector, is it mine and when the batch of rocks is finished directly go back?
Rocks with lots of Quantanium.
Best moon on hurston for mining?
For ROC mining, Aberdeen or Arial are good.
For Prospector or MOLE mining, none. Go to Lyria.
Thanks
Like 4k 40% give you full cargo hold. Bigger mass - less %. But harder to crack
Yeah I figured heh, before the bits came flying into my prospector killing me it took a long while to do a 41% quant 5k mass rock
Seems like the C band of the belt is pretty poor for salvage. I assume it's because of how dense the field is there's simply no room for salvage to spawn
Only saw one RS signature > 4000
Brilliant...
Salvage up a full hold, fly to New Babbage, land, head out to the TDD, open a terminal, and... Nothing
Oh, there we go
You got a discord for organised mining events mate? DM me if so plz
Man that might be tolerable if it wasn't a goddamn ladder, jeez
and the dang sloooow doooors
Did a tiny bit of testing today. Selling 12SCU of RMC at new babbage nets you 96k (or 92k I can’t remember which). Selling 12SCU at brio’s breaker yard nets you 65k, and selling 12SCU at grimhex nets you 75k. I assume that the other scrapyards and TDD’s are the same as brio’s and new babbage, meaning it’s best to sell salvage at a TDD
Or salvage some destroyed pirates at grimHEX and sell RMC at the place
Oh, there's the "can't put things on the cargo grid" bug
Also, can corroborate the 92k thing at New Babbage for RMC
you can get 30k more by putting boxes on the side. 3-4 max or you might blow up
Hey guys, is salvaging soloable? As i noticed that with the Vulture, after destroy an enemy fighter, i only get debris as salvage.
it definitely is
check out Lagrange points, they're usually littered with wrecks
gotta use your scanner and pings
for lagrange points you mean the becon called L1/L2 etc?
arc L1 has a bunch of 890J wrecks
yeah
I am a little bummed the engine nacelles on the Vulture don't rotate like the Cutter's
I normally get my salvage from ships I destroy, no issues.
No worries about pirates and no scanning or long flights
And for now we can only salvage the hull? Or is there a way i can take like the "Manuver Thruster" i'm watching
Not yet
Tier 0 is just hull scraping. Eventually they'll put component collection and ship munching
I'm most excited for the latter. Want to see my Vulture grind up some wrecks
Thanks! Btw i've noticed that, first time trying salvaging, when i need to move away the box from the filler station in a Vulture, the "road" from the cockpit to the station make me drops my fps from more than 60 to 20
maybe its the cargo fault?
That's more likely a server issue. I have it happen occasionally too
random stutters are fuuun
alright, thanks!
And where i can sell the salvage? Example; right now i'm at ARC L1.
ehh, I was stupid not to try salvage when I could.
TDD at main planets, or Grimhex
I am away for the weekend and will have no access to the game
PTU is sure to be up until March
You got time
hopefully yeah. will definitely give it a go when I can
Wait so can't in stations?
Nopers, except G-G-G-G-GRIM HEX-AAAHHHH
Alright, so i can just fly there, leave my ship in the hangar and go to the TDD?
hmm, I think you have to store it
not sure
I definitely store my ships when I sell cargo
I have had to store mine, yeah, but others say don't do that? And still others say get purposely impounded
I dunno, I've had to store mine
not sure about salvage
but with the bugs it has now, everything will change probably
or go back to normal
