Then go rent a Cutty or Lancer and haul it.... Double money then.
More or less
If your ship is stored and you're desperate to sell the ore, you could log off, and log back in.... See if something joggles loose
Im going to another refinery otherwise i do that you say me
Are you holding Quantanium?
If not, go for it... Otherwise you're risking things.
Did you make sure to store your Prospector first?
You can't get access to the refinement and sales system if you forgot to store the ship
I have experience with this and will get back to you later.
Maze is indeed a drug. It’s not inherently illegal to trade and transport drugs, however if you get scanned by a security officer while you have drugs on board, you will get a crimestat. The issue with maze and all the drugs (except for neon and E’tam) is that they are bought and sold in extremely small quantities, making it so selling any significant amount of drugs take literal ages. And in the case of maze, you can’t actually buy it anywhere. I would reccomend doing what is probably the most common trade route, which is going to either HDMS-Lathan or HDMS-bezdek on arial, buying all of the laranite they have avaliable and then filling the rest of your hold with titanium, and then going to lorville and selling it at the TDD. Medical supplies and agricium are some of the other top tier commodities, but in my experience it takes awhile to sell a large load of medical supplies, so idk if I’d reccomend trading that. Not sure about agricium since I’ve never tried trading it
This is extremely helpful. Thanks so much! Since I am going to be flying a Hercules A2 Star Lifter, are the amounts of cargo going to be any different? Should I simply buy as much Laranite as I can carry, then fill the rest with Titanium, then taking it to Lorville? Or is there other stuff I'll also need to buy to pack into that A2 to make the trip worthwhile? That cargo hold can carry quite a lot.
thanks for the help its bugged MIC L1 I go to HUR-L1 and it go also thanks
If you're prospecting, selling ore is just your first step to afford a rental. After that, refine it and sell it at TDD. You'll get double your money over selling unrefined...
I get a feeling that they will be adjusting mining soon.... Possibly to have those saddlebags removable.
You sell them to haulers for more than ore refineries.
Just buy as much laranite as you can and fill the rest with titanium
There is a website that you can use and it just grabs the pricing of items and makes the most effective trade route
I wouldn’t recommend following the best because personally I hate the competition
It’s very annoying
But I haven’t played in like a year
So I remember an update which they made no mining changes but the mole couldn’t vacuum up specifically quant so it was effectively useless, idk if it was ever fixed
The mole works fine now
Aight
Still grapevine fodder, the power of the lasers will be taken into account for some rocks...
S2s being too much for some, and S1s not enough for others.
Not sure if multiple prospectors will help mind.....
All supposition..
On trade tools, exclude the "Vice" category to get rid of things that are illegal
hi guys, im wondering upgrading my Avenger Titan in a HullA (40USD ~) for doing caro in 3.18
Is Hull A worth it ?
No
It’s slow and the only thing it can really do is cargo hauling, and it isn’t good for that
Of course FPS missions and delivery missions are an option, but almost any ship can do those
I wouldn’t do that either
C8R is a great ship, but I don’t think it should be your starter ship
It’s better suited as an addition to your current fleet
I'd hang my hat on the C8X as a ship every single person should buy in game.
thanks
I want to pledge 1 ship so i have it on wipe day my budget is 300. My goal is to get a ship and use it to earn money for the others. I was thinking ethier wait for eclipse for torp runs, a hauler for trade, or a prospector for mining. I like all the professions im just trying to decide where i should put my money. Atm im leaning twords waiting for eclipse bc i really like it. My line of thought is pledge eclipse since its 5mill in game and use it to buy the others since they are cheaper in game. Any advice or experience is appreciated.
Constellation
Eclipse is a one stop shop to snore town
Anyone want to show me how this works ?
Get the Taurus.... It can do it all...
It can hold a ROC and an Ursa at the same time. Carry some cargo if you empty it. Gots missiles, big guns.....
Ive seen some ppl commenting on alot of videos about the Taurus i will give it a test for a day.
It's a good one.... I would buy one in game, but I really like the snub of the Andro....
Eclipse is only 3.5M in game. It's very overpriced for pledge.
IMO get the Prospector if you like mining.
I positioned myself along the lines of doing mining. To me the Prospector is the Goose that lays the golden eggs, it will allow you to buy everything that is offered in game. I think the ROC with a decent carrier is a great earning opportunity also. To me the MAX is the best for that but I'd buy that in game
Agree, I also have an Prospector to start mining and earn some money right away.
is hand mined hadenite the same hadenite as the one SC tradetools is showing
Yes
cool
Post wipe I do not have a Mole or Prospector so I paid US cash for a ROC so I be using that a lot then my first in-game purchase will be a Prossie. I have plenty of trade ships but need a couple million before I can use those effectively.
Why did you buy a roc with actual money?
It takes like 2 missions to be able to rent a cutty and a roc ingame
I CCUd my starter ship over time and now it's a Vulture. ... Can start printing aUEC right from the start.
Same
Although I’m having a little bit of buyers remorse
Gonna wait and use the vulture before I melt it, but I might end up just turning it into a titan
No worries ... that'll be gone when you sell your first load of RMC
We’ll see about that
For me it's the perfect starter ship, even with all the other ships I have.
It can salvage, do bunkers, play FedEx and a tiny bit of trade ... Basically everything I like to do
Yeah
That’s why I bought it
It’s a multipurpose ship in disguise
Only issue is combat
I own only non-combat ships
Cutter
→ Taxi/Bunkers
C8R
→ Emergency spawn at outposts and maybe Medic for the org
Vulture & Prospector
→ aUEC printing
RAFT
→ Quant Hauling (might get melted or upgraded for a C1, depending on the pirate situation in 3.18+)
MSR
→ Quant Hauling and Data running in the future
Maybe some day I'll get a combat ship... but so far I have zero interest in any combat whatsoever. xD
i resonate with this feeling... i have no interest in combat yet but maybe when i get faniliar with the controls (as well as a hefty bank account) MAYBE THEN will i give combat a try
combats gunna find you in 3.18 regardless of how careful u are.. will be so many in gme wanting to steal stuff to try it out .. so expect hard days for firs month of release of 3.18 to live
true
im still new enough that i might be able to miss that first wave... depends on when 3.18 hits
either way ima be trying out mining, salvage, whatnot
just gotta learn 2 mine
I’d reccomend starting with roc mining
Yeah
You need about 40k to rent a cutlass black and a roc, and that’s all you need
these are vehicles of some sort but i don't know what all you mean
Ok so
The roc is a mining buggy type thing, and then the cutlass black is the ship that you use to transport the roc
You rent a ship for a certain amount of days, and the only difference between a rental ship and a bought ship is that you can’t change the components or weapons on the rental
Other than that is basically the same as owning the ship
And renting is a lot cheaper than buying of course
Yup
but obviously, gonna need the money first...
Roc mining makes good money though, a full roc is about 220k, assuming you mine the most valuable gems only, which isn’t super hard to do
I’d reccomend trying a cave mission
It’ll be under the bounty hunter tab in the contracts app
And it’ll say something about clearing out a cave of bad guys
All you need is a chestplate, backpack, a gun and some ammo
do you start with these things
No
damn
They aren’t very hard to get though
i heard something about a family farms place
There’s a couple of farm type places on different moons
The crates inside have guns and ammo, so you can go there if you don’t wanna buy a gun
it's probably my easiest consideration
since i could try a buncha different gun types
- need to fly my ship for practice
True
It's more of a piece of mind thing having the ROC right off the bat. I'm not keen on box missions and don't do space combat and my playing time is to chaotic to rent ships and vehicles. A ROC is only 3 pizza's.
Gallette Family Farms...These spots and the others CAN have nice weapons in them but in the first few weeks expect others to get them before you do. So it's a hit and miss situation and I stopped going after awhile. "Good Luck!!"
First months will be hard. I'll probably spend most of my time in random places inside the Halo salvaging. Maybe a little Mining and refining in unpopular Refineries. But I won't go full force mining... Arc-L1 (for example) will be a death trap. xD
i have the advantage of "it isn't patch day yet so the new player influx shoudln't be around"
but yeah i'm hoping to be a logistical type player that occasionally delves into combat and it sounds fun
- maybe i try for medrunners
that is indeed one of the ships of all time
If only the Cutlas wasn't so ugly
kinda looks like the rocket league '16 batmobile
The cutty is beautiful, idk what you mean
This was my starter ship and I still love it.
Replace those ugly little wing thingies in the front with another pair of VTOLs and I might be able to agree to some extend
You can't spawn in C8R
3 pizzas but also much cheaper in game (5k rent, 170k buy) than similarly priced things. Ground vehicles are very overpriced for pledge
The C8R is Size 1, just like the C8X. S1 ships are spawnable on outposts
Oh, I thought you meant respawn in it with the medical bed. Carry on then
CIG is sadly not nice enough to make it a spawn-bed .... god that would be amazing
poking my head out during my SC hibernation. how has mining changed in the past year?
They added gadgets, but rock scanning is still jenky and lots of dead rocks. Still fun though
The scanning issue might be better on 3.18 in ptu though so there is hope. It is still prob the most fun non combat loop in the game.
Prospector is still the best ship, no real point in using the mole unless it is just for fun.
Oh oddly enough ROC mining is supposedly pretty good right now.
Even if you wait around a few min they still don't populate?
I stopped mining a few months back, but the sanning was pretty bad then too. I did have a trick where I would find some good rocks, go get a sammich and by the time I would get back they would become scannable.
does this mean theres only 50 SCU in stock??
Yes, at most, and that amount is shared across all servers
here what does the 2,500 represent, units or other?
Units
100 units = 1 SCU iirc
so 25 SCU of slam is 300k UEC to purchase but there is 50SCU in stock? that is what i understand
Yes, but you'll never see 50 SCU in stock since other players will have bought some
is there any way to see how much is in stock because i cant understand this
The only way to see how much is currently in stock is go to the location
gotcha thats annoying
how do i transfer the stuff in the ROC to my cutlass?
Open up the roc's rear hatch and drag the gems one by one
right lets see how much this is worth...
oof 30k aUEC in an hour of ROC mining
that is...very sad
if i have a full load and have to end task because it has crashed but it isnt crashing do i lose the cargo
Someone on Reddit mentioned just leave the ship eva out until you leave the ship channel then go back in. Worked great for me
For unscannable rocks
?
Faster to just sell to the mining station itself until 3.18 adds the transfer all button @little stratus
No idea what you mean by crashed but isn't crashing. The process is hung/not responding?
what is hung? but yeah it just doesnt responds and i have to close the program
Hung is like when it's not interactive and you can't interface with it at all. Windows usually says not responding when that happens. I know alt F4 respawns you at your starting location, idk about through task manager. You'll have to find out or it might be on google
ah k
can someone help me quantanium mine?
Youtube
BTW you don't have to do this. Most of the time we just take the ROC pull it out of the ship and sell it all that way.
Lancet imo
Slow and steady wins the race
Yes
Lancet I
Lancet II is for the MOLE
you can only install it on owned prospectors though, not rented ones
Lyria, but you’ll need modules to break most of the rocks there
Quant explodes after 15 minutes once you extract it
This is a very useful guide
I recommend checking it out
You take them to a refinery, refine them (takes about a day), and then you load them into a cargo ship and sell them at one of the cities
its the only ship mining that is worth it at the moment.
C & M space trucking is looking for investors to invest in our small business. Doing so could earn you back major returns.

What is the best method for mid starters trading or mining?
you're probably going to want to save up for at least a Freelancer Max for trade. It doesn't really get lucrative until you can haul large amounts. And even then, trade is kinda.. meh right now.
Hey, so I have the C2 + Caterpillar and want to make some money pre-wipe, what are the routes I want to be doing and with what cargo?
Trading isn’t really a good post-wipe method of making money
I said pre-wipe?
that's a good question. all of the trade gurus I'd normally look to are on hiatus.
Alright.
Thanks

Any chance a Banu Merchantman would be a good investment post-release? Just given its cargo volume and trading capabilities.
Thank you.
Ask again in 10 years
Fine, ask again in 2 years
BMM is a weird one cus like yeah it should have massive volume but its supposed to be like a flying mini-mall? IDK, I feel like it would have huge running costs vs something like a Hull-C,D.
If the BMM came out right now it would absolutely not be worth it, since the cargo capacity is too large to be useful atm (and yet somehow Hull C is coming soon), and the trading capabilities aren't a thing
Huh, interesting
Right, but even post release is it supposed to be a trade vessel in that capacity? I'm sure it could but I don't think I would choose it for strictly trade. We'll see though
Landing your BMM at a tiny ground outpost might be problematic
I guess it is meant to be more of a space mall
My fleet is just a BMM, an A2, and a Ballista so it’s pretty weird
The systems for large scale space trading aren't in game yet. Will be interesting to see it develop
Yep!
I think once we have a couple more systems in game the BMM will be immensely useful. Just less so when we're stuck in Stanton
Yes, I hope it can at least be profitable enough to subsidize buying other ships
Yeah the BMM is just confusing to me. I have no idea what they plan on doing with it in the future
So with the hull c being a thing soon, is there any improvements coming with trading soon or is it just loading cargo manually now?
No changes to loading or unloading currently. The only change is that pirates can actually take your cargo when they take your ship
Ahh ok. We’re there missions to be added as well or was that talked about for a future thing
Ok I did look it up, it’s been talked about but not for 3.18. Hopefully they won’t be far behind 3.18
Hopefully we get missions before the Hull C comes out
Yah 3.18 should make those missions possible with being able to move those large containers. Heck it be more fun than the current trading system. So instead of being freelance merchants we would become space truckers, moving already paid for goods
is there a way to improve ROC profit/h
they kinda have to solve elevator doors before physical loading can be a thing. plus a lot of ships will need another pass
Get more efficient with scanning and mining
wow i really love it when the landing services bug out
and my ship explodes
classic
Did you land a ship full of Quant in a hangar?
Don't do that
yeah
ive always been doing this never had problems
until that
i think it was just the landing services bugging out since it was going to impound my ship in the hangar that told me to land
is the RAFT any good for cargo hauling?
It’s not very good
oh ok lol
although might be better later this year when it gets it's autoloading system and tractor
Yela
You can’t warp directly to it, gotta look up a guide on how to fly there
I was hoping to have a bit more of an indepth look at cargo
Let's say you had one of the ships with the most scu of storage in the game. The C2, the caterpillar, something like that
If you wanted to completely fill up your cargo hold with something as quick as possible, and go sell it, such as scrap or waste, would you make any decent profit? Or are smaller ships the way to go, since you can't buy an exorbitant amount of expensive stuff at once anyway?
TLDR: Is it more profitable to take a smaller cargo capacity ship and do fast runs of drugs or ore, or one huge C2 completely filled with Scrap or Waste?
I have been using the SC Trade Tools site, and I still don't fully understand what some of this stuff means. For example: There's a section here that just says go to samson and son's salvage, but it says "empty cargo". Why go there if you aren't buying something? Can someone explain?
And it tells you to buy X amount of cargo at these locations, but I've gone to some of them and it won't allow me to buy nearly as much as it says I should buy.
Okay thank you for the advice
Do we know why CIG made it so only Quantanium is worth mining?
Hey guys where can I find good upgrades for ROC?
Evra: I sent you a DM with some general advice on trading feel free to take a look at it. Figuring out trading can take weeks of effort and generally lots of investment dollars.
Guesses at final price of the vulture?
You're flying from Samson to shady Glen, empty. You just sold scrap there.
I see! thank you
Scrap and waste aren't worth it. For the larger ships you want to look at something like titanium that still offers enough quantity to fill but has decent profit.
Lavanite
Laranite I assume you mean.
It's not available in quantities large enough to be an exclusive purchase, but you can buy all the available laranite and then fill the rest of your hold with titanium
You don’t need to upgrade anything on the roc, it’s good stock
oh its not worth?
No, none of the upgrades that you can make to it will make a difference
Yes I traded a MSR full of Laranite for a 68k profit
Then you got extremely lucky to be able to buy that much
Anyone know the "meta" modules to use on the Prospector and MOLE for mining Quantanium? I have Lancet mining heads on but not sure what to use for the modules for them.
2 Surge, 1 Stampede
Thank you!
hey guys, i just reinstalled after like a year...when trading do you still have to wait at the selling terminal forever to offload goods, or can you just sell all of what you have instantly?
Depends on what you're selling and where.
Some commodities at some locations you may have to wait because demand is so low
Damn. So it's still a lot of downtime
My old route was buying and selling widow. Can't really remember where I ran it. I'll try some stuff tonight. Thanks man!
That’s why it took so long to sell, widow is a drug and some drugs are bought in extremely small quantities at a time
Stay away from widow, slam, and maze
Would normal stuff take a long time? Like legal stuff lol
It would take a lot less time
Okay cool. Thanks
Any good cargo ships?
C2, caterpillar, M2, carrack are all top of the line cargo ships. List is in order from best to worst
where is the best routes? I was running NT-999-XX to brio's breaker yard but I can only buy like 6 scu of cargo at a time before they're out of stock

They have good profits on paper, but they’re bought and sold in such small quantities that it’s not worth it
Exclude the "vice" category
oh ok cool thanks
has anyone bought the hull-c yet and do you think it is worth the price?
Seeing as the hull c isn’t flyable yet, nobody really knows if it’s worth the price
fair enough
if you plesge for it right now you get a loaner C2 and Hull A for $350, these ships if bought separately would be $490 so if you want to think about it this way
Oh really? I didn’t know that. That’s definitely nice
It’s likely to go up in price so now’s a good time to either get it or at least grab a CCU from the starfarer Gemini to it or something to lock in the price
what should i buy? looking for C2

Got myself a vulture ccu thanks to a cool guy! Looking forward to salvage now.
Where were wrecks spawning. I know Lagrange points, and maybe Arron halo, but was planet surfaces also a option?
asteroid fields
New update u can sell drugs no small amount
how am i supposed to mine anything with a rented prospector if the mining head is simply incapable of breaking rocks
Simple: Don't rent a prospector
The mining head is capable of breaking small to medium non-Quant rocks...which is basically not worth the time.
For the same price, a rental ROC and Cutlass will make more money.
do those handheld mining gadgets do anything?
idk im not up to date with mining
Yes, and it is technically possible to mine quant rocks with a stock prospector using them, but in my experience it is not worth the time or trouble.
ugh
idk if i want to trade in my retaliator gunship warbond for a prospector then
having a one shot kill on any bounty is cool but damn that things slow
i think i enjoy mining more
guess we do a little melting
I tried the Retaliator this patch and was not impressed. Slow and not fun to fly. If I'm going to chain ERTs, it's Eclipse for me.
aye, i just saw i could get a retaliator for half price a while ago and thought a big torpedo boat would be great. i did not know it handled like a moon. plus the grind just to get ERTs is insane. mining quant seems to be the way to go for me.
Want to borrow my upgraded MOLE or Prospector?
See if they're worth buying for you?
Yay!
Now they just need to make it so Quantanium doesnt explode/go inert when you dock xD
what modules do i need to equip to crack rocks using a prospector?
right now even on 100% power the rock's not budging
Lancet mining head and at least one Torrent, etc. Some people like Surge modules and such.
Though a prospector can't really crack rocks bigger than 5k without Surge or handheld gadgets
wdym rocks bigger than 5k?
Mass
how do i see the mass?
yeah there is no chance you're cracking that in a solo prospector
oof
For prospectors, unless your using stampedes, your better off sticking to asteroid fields/the Aaron Halo
can a stock prospector harvest anything?
It can, but you would be better off saving up for a Lancet or Helix
i'm thinking that i want to do asteroid mining with my prospector...
what are the best ways to get to the asteroids?
I like to use this image to find when to drop out of Quantum Travel to land in the halo
how do i know what mining modules fit on the prospector?
do yall have a decent prospector fit
All mining modules do
That is super out of date
I use it daily and always seem to find the halo without issue 🤷♂️
Whats out of date about it?
Also that link you posted seems to just have a bunch of useless data like routes to different less efficient refineries
...Look at the destination planets. Delamar hasn't been in the game in ages
If you're mining on Lyria, you may be based at ARC-L1, so knowing those routes is good.
The efficiency difference between refineries is negligible.
I mean yes, obviously, but there is no Delamar in the game and there hasn't been in a long time.
Plus, the website I linked lets you know where to drop out to land in any of the bands of the Halo, not just "somewhere in this zone"
Does it matter which band you drop out of?
If you drop out at any point, you'll be surrounded with 100000 asteroids to mine from
Yes, obviously.
If you normally mine on Lyria or have previously mined on Lyria and want to go to the asteroid belt instead for a trip, you want to start from ARC-L1, not fly all the way to CRU L1 to start.
Yes, some parts of the halo are basically empty.
No, some parts of the halo are basically empty.
Band 1 is extremely light on asteroids. CStone has all the up to date info
I'll have to check it out when I get back on tomorrow. Seems complicated
The CStone crew put an insane amount of work plotting everything, quite an interesting read
https://cstone.space/resources/knowledge-base/65-aaron-halo-detailed-shape-and-density-survey
anyone down for some mining missions?
now that it's been some weeks since ptu is open. Can someone tell me how profitable salvaging is?
I heard around 200k/hours some times ago
12 SCU of RMC (the cargo grid capacity of a vulture) is around 95k
can i use my hull c in game now
how many time to fill it tho?
no, but sometime this year
it depends. not horribly long imo
It seems more profitable than roc mining to you at the moment?
I've never done ROC mining but I'd say yes, theres at least less hassle to it
Just flying in and out of TDDs to sell direct
🤔 I see. Roc mining is 200k/hour with average luck but it needs a ship to carry the roc and sometimes gear for temperature. Also very dependent of server lags
even if it makes a bit less income salvage might be more relaxing
I'm trying to prepare the most efficient hangar for 3.18
already have vulture prepared but also taurus for roc carrying and a bit of cargo
I will say salvage is very relaxing to me
what does cSCU stand for?
what about the little c infront?
Ohh k thanks
How do you prepare, isn’t there gonna be a wipe, do you keep your ships?
managing my pledges
Oh k
using the sc trade tools website is there any way to block trade routes that aren't always in stock?
Depending upon your starting aUEC and pledge ship, you can be back in the cash flow relatively fast.
The quickest way (if you don't care to bounties) is to rent a ROC and Cutlass Black (Pembroke armor recommended too)
Stock is dynamic and because CIG isn't offering any API links to live trade data, the trade sites can only offer static information
It's experience in trade routes and commodities that pay off here
Don't think laranite is going to be available
It's a ghost that will not die
unless you're very lucky yeah Laranite is barely touchable
tho I think what @lusty granite meant is how to not see the route with waiting time. For that you have to play with those buttons
ok, thanks for all the info!
You can also specifically exclude individual commodities
I just lost 500k when I tried to go down the elevator in my c2 during quantum, is there any way to reclaim my c2 with the cargo in it?
Stay with the detached elevator in space, wait for the C2 to arrive at its destination, then click the elevator button
I panicked and alt f4ed cause I didn't have my helmet on
Then you're screwed, because the ship is gone
it just booted me out of the ship
ok
Always wear flight suit and helmet when in space
I was drinking
Don't drink and fly
also dont drink while in space
Anyone need bodies for their mole
So i got an Argo Mole... i dont realy get the different stats for the mining heads and i read about support Heads? If i would do multicrew mining is there a good setup for the mole?
Go check out "Loud Guns" on YouTube. He does SC content and has a whole playlist on mining. I don't remember exactly which video it is, but he breaks down all the pros and cons of mining components and production vs pricing, etc. Even complete with spreadsheets. He has great info in general.
I run the Mole with MH2 Lancets along with a Stampede and 2 Surges. You can break any size rock you want with that setup. You can also throw on a filter module to filter out inert gases to get a cleaner load.
Filter module? Inert gases? What??
FLTR-XL Module minus 20% inert gases taken into load
is there a difference between inert gases and inert materials?
I've never seen the term inert gases used before
Materials, sorry
Shouldnt the Hull-C be able to load cargo at Orison when it comes? since its a floathing city. Im just thinking loud
I think it’s more of an issue of gravity. The containers would just fall off and there’d be no good way to move them in atmo. At a station they could just float the containers off/on the ship
Where do u get the surge Module? Haven’t found it in ARC L1
!itemfinder
Use the website to search for any item (and where to buy them) in-game.
for roc mining - what am i looking for
these are rocks i need the prospector for, right?
yes
when you're pinging for rocks, only investigate boxes that pop up at 3k away or less
they'll show up as a blue diamond icon instead of a rock icon
what kind of loadout should i get for a prospector for quantanium mining?
MH1 Lancet along with a Stampede and 2 Surges
Is the 315p a good early-game hauler? at 12 SCU I feel like it might be a good solo carrier.
Depends what you haul and how much you want to spend. More cargo space is always better.
It's not a gravity thing, it's a landing gear thing that prevents it from landing fully loaded
for drugs its alright, for normal commodities it sucks
Even with 12 SCU?
checking in here again to ask what the best fit is for a prospector
quant mining of course
do i need to worry about coolers/power plants/shields
shields maybe, depends on how often you plan to accidentally blow rocks up in your face
As for quant on a prospector, Lancet mining head and then your choice of modules. Surge is popular, Torrent is also popular, etc, etc @sick phoenix
i had modules
and then i accidentally claimed the prospector
because i was trying to claim my cutty black
from what i can tell i want to use surge/brandt/FLTR-XL
i'm planning for belt mining
For belt mining you don't need any modules in particular, it's just whatever you want to make your life easier.
You want Lancet MH1 mining head, and you don't need a Brandt module with that.
Shield, powerplant, coolers, the stock ones are fine.
Quantum drive you want either an Atlas (if you want to be able to make long trips) or Spectre (if you just want fastest short trips between belt and refinery)
i may consider spectre. i slotted atlas atm tho
but while you're here i wanna make sure, when can i extract?
is it when the outline's purple?
ok it was
time to take this quantanium back to base
is there a max number of work orders you can have?
also first haul
2539 Damn women you gonna be rich in one haul!!
All those delicious inert materials
yeah i learned a lesson there
a lesson that i will hopefully not be repeating
mining is nice though!
fun
it's pretty chill
But still, I'll take that rock any day!
Buying and selling drugs has it's stressful charms to.
fucking BIG money
Nice
Now you're driving me crazy.
if anything im sad cause my prospector probably wont be able to fit it all
Hey you have to get that inert under 25%!
true. i might be able to get a full 32 scu of quant
times like these i wish i had the filter
i did not need the filter
Goddamn
absolute dream
no crash, no 30k... finally
this is like
the first time i've had moneymaking go well
No, there's no max
bless
In my experience the filter is largely useless since it only gets rid of "inert materials" not trash ores like quartz
i mean yeah that makes sense, especially when you get rocks that have full quant. but i'm doing space mining and the size of the asteroids are all pretty consistent so i don't really see any reason to not take it
because like what other module am i going to put on there
None
So that way if you have to claim the ship or whatever you don't lose anything
fair point
where's the best place to mine if I've got a rental MISC prospector
can't use any modules so quant is kinda off the table
my laser isn't able to mine most of them and the ones I am able to are too unstable and I usually end up overcharging them and losing the fragments
are quant nodes easier to mine in space? I've just been doing surface mining
I heard we used to be able to upgrade the rentals I wonder why they removed that feature
believe this still is accurate. https://redmonstergaming.com/mining-cheat-sheets/
shows locations and all the good stuff
Ok so I was cracking rocks of quant until it did then my prospector sort of malfunctioned? then it said anomaly on the hud
then i cant quant jump anymore
and it says like low power or something
Sounds like your ship took engine damage
so lemme get this right, if i wanna go mining for quant in space, i shouldn't be using the belt?
or should i use the belt?
yeah but it never exploded
it cracked safely in the optimal range
its the most annoying bug in the game imo
And I didnt see anything in 3.18 about fixing it
the best i've seen so far this run... i'm probably gonna take it and then reset my position
@blissful peak
yes
It’s likely that you bought the 100k of cargo that was in stock
The trade terminals have a supply that is linked to all game servers
That means EVERYONE who buys there buys from the same pot
i got 69eUEC thats 69.000 so ?
So what you want to do in C2 is load up 69 SC larinite, and then fill the rest with titanium 🙂
Ahhh
It said to buy 69.600
I think it is a formatting error
But it wants you to buy 696 SCU of larinite
Whereas there was only 69 SCU available
oh
Lorville CBD
Otherwise, I do this:
As much larinite as I can get
Then Titanium
Then next etc…
can u vc later ?
The max aUEC per hour is to not wait, but take larinite and some commodities that are less expensive
cause i first wanan fix idk why it crashes but i need to fix it
Not really 😅 I’m on top of a mountain in France 😂
Skiing?
Snowboarding
What I can do is try to see is one of my friends can help you if you want
👀
but i can do both cause I come from a mounty region in Bulgaria and they teached us from little kids
yes that would be great
Jealous! I’ve got a 13..16 hour drive to get to the alps
😡
but i like windsurfing more in my homecountry bulgaria cause
its more warm and beautifull and better partys
better people
when going in to sell, do you have to be able to fit all the refined ore in at once?
like, what happens if there's excess
Than will fit i. Your ship?
yes
I think you will be able to put the rest in
Another ship..?
I usually keep the loads smaller than the highest ship capacity that I have though
ok as long as it doesn't delete the whole order. but yeah
To avoid potentially loosing some
i was gonna do the same thing lol.
It won’t delete the whole order
But you potentially might loose some if it doesn’t save it
fair enough
When you guys think of a miner in Star Citizen do you think of the color yellow? Or orange?
Orange or silver because mole and prospector
Maybe white and blue
But the armour is yellow
It’s so hard to really think of one colour
hence my question lol
where do yall go to sell refined minerals
multiple companies in Star Citizen make mining ships and they all have their own aesthetic so I dont think basing a miner's aesthetics on a particular ship works
Any capital city. they all sell for the same amount
ok but also orison kekw
At Admin Station
Only gems, not refined minerals
When I sell my refined quantanium, I go to admin station 🤷♂️
Unrefined Minerals:
Any refinery station.
Refined Metals:
Orison: TDD
Lorville: CBD
New Babbage: TDD
Area 18: TDD
Miner Gems:
Any admin terminal/ trade console (including outposts)
Sounds like I bug i've never heard anyone else having
You definitely cant sell refined quantanium at admin centers normally
I originally was following a YT tutorial. The guy was doing it there 🤷♂️
I remember when you could sell titanium at an admin centre
I miss being able to sell goods to stations
🤷♂️
Definitely not the case anymore
Ok
Which one?
Yes. Any excess is lost.
Idk some random guy, too long ago
Can someone help me with mining i just got the mole
do you already know how to mine or are you just looking for a crew?
idk at all how to mine
my friend gave me 20 mil and i spent it on a mole
because apparently mining is good
im new to sc
so idk
Howdy Folks! 18 months after my first vid and we're on to the third edition of the Quant Mining Guide. I know it's a long one but I've tried to be as comprehensive as I can putting this together to teach you everything you need to know about making the big bucks mining the red stuff!
A big thank you to Anorii for providing the wonderful backin...
Watch this
ok
Since you should have ~15M left over, go buy a prospector and use that instead
Prospector is much simpler to learn on since it's designed to be used by only one person
yea but i like a challenge
I mean...it's not a challenge by comparison, it's just more annoying to use solo. But you do you
how do i know if i have my cargo to sell on board
Mole can make you more money/hr solo anyways once you learn all the tips in tricks I sent you in that tutorial
I always found it waay more fun and efficient though mining with a friend
take it out of the inventory
store the mole in a station using the fleet hanger terminal
store the modules in the station's inventory
use vehicle loadout manager to install the modules onto the ship
retrieve MOLE and it will have them installed.
MOLE mining is fking annoying solo
I almost always mine with friends so luckily I dont have to worry about it 😛
man
what's causing this unscannable bug
also if it's unscannable is it unmineable
is there a fix
or is it just cope
i have a hard time believing it's "cope" when i can scan like one in five locations
well it is kinda crazy though how all it takes is one rock and boom full prospector
i dunno how you're supposed to belt with the mole... if you are
idk the cause but its hella annoying yeah, no choice but to just move on and find another
usually that bug mostly happens when i mine quant in the belt
rarely does it happen to me in lyria
honestly i'd much rather belt mine than lyria
only because the income is much more consistent + i won't need to have anything bigger than a prospector
and less pirates around
everyone knows by now that lyria's the place where the miners are
so really if the downside of belt mining is the frustration of being unable to scan rocks? works for me
pretty much just cope. in a prospector you can see what the asteroid type is from 12km away, which also tells you if it's unscannable
i haven't been doing this admittedly, i've been flying within range to see it from a 180 degree scan
The ability to scan at 12km is one of the main advantages of the belt over Lyria
yeah i need to start narrowing the range down and scanning from afar
look for q type and go
Qne more day of Seige then I'm back to space trucking.
ok sometimes i see a good thing of quant
and i wish i did have more room in the prospector
three rocks of 45% quant....
i just got the game starting with an avenger i need somone who can show me how to star mining and making money
how much auec do you have
25k
ok, i don't remember what the costs are... but you want to get enough to rent a greycat ROC and a drake cutlass black

You can make more when it’s refined right?
Yeah, refining ore doubles its value
Thank You!
Yep, that's why I started using the MOLE instead. Sometimes it's just frustrating overhead for no gain, but sometimes you get this:
And then. Boom. It all turns to inert material
No, it didn't, because I know better than to land in a hangar.
Mine did it before I even got there
If it happens while still in space, and not because the timer ran out, that's just a display bug
I had, 80 SCU Quant. And 8 of some other random shit…
The game showed it as 96SCU inert after a QT jump
Then the game crashed for everyone on the mole
But not for the escort pilot 😭
respect for actually hiring an escort
I do multi crew for group play rather than more money 😝
Yeah, that was likely just a display bug. RIP due to crash though
haha. admittedly i like the idea but i'm not gonna get consistently more than one rock at a time so i'm chill where i am
and as others said i'd prefer taking the mole for group activity
and regarding group activity i don't even know how you'd divvy up the results of your expedition with multiple people!
Here
Lemme see if I can find an example of what I do
Do you mind if I DM it to you?
sure go ahead
👍
you know i think about it
and like, if we have a "risk scale" for mining and stuff
mining everything is low risk except quantanium which i would put at medium risk at best
because the risk is the timer
no special handling procedures, no dangers from the rock
what would yall say makes a high risk mineral?
(if you ask me i think the timer until detonation is a cop out method of avoiding making an actual risky haul)
if im doing a cargo run in C2 and some player attacks me, what should i do?
mining a higher quality/rare ore (more rare than quantanium) out in Pyro where safety isnt close and has increased hostile activity (weather that be NPCs or players)
True "deep space" mining
i do think that presence of hostiles should be a factor yeah
cause rn the timer on quant is a pseudo risk
but utterly mitigatable
yeah
i think presence of hostiles is a good risk
i also think that instead of simple timers to represent volatility there should be special handling procedures
Yes special handling is much better than a timer
like racking up too many g's makes the cargo more volatile
volatile cargo in a danger close area...
well tbh those would be silly tho
like from the pirate pov yeah quant is worth money but they would want to steal the finished product
If you’re able to, just warp away. Don’t run in a straight line, try and be evasive. If they do have a mantis/cutty blue, then you have to try and destroy it, as that’s your only way to escape. Don’t randomely dumo flares and chaff, that doesn’t help you. If you’re able to warp out, then continue warping to different places. It’s pretty easy for your aggressor to chase you if you only jump once and then stop
fair point
I mean, if you screw up and overheat the rock when mining it can take out your ship
that's the basics of mining though
if you operate under that logic all mining is at least medium risk
but i call it low risk because 1) this is the basics, and 2) you're expected to work around it as the fundamentals of "mining"
...those might be the same thing i'm bad with words
ANYWAYS that's not enough risk to make something high risk, even with the instability of quant. it does add extraction difficulty but it's manageable
Necessary to avoid collision, or even possibly requiring a special storage while in QT like the materials in Xenotheat have
i know nothing about these xenothreat mats
but i like the idea
It would be interesting if you had to fly to a outpost and have them processed into containers for QT transit
Or have a special ship that could store them stably
see if we had the ability to customize more of our ship i'd say have a special cargo hold fitting for it
Likely thst will be available once modularity comes in proper
At least I hope it is
Here are some tactics I use to mitigate the risk: when leaving a site select a QT target in advance, advance Velocity marker to Maximum, fly in uncoupled mode. Use VTOL mode to clear the site then turn them off and raise the landing gear. You can hit "C" and align to the QT marker. If you are attacked in open space and they are on your tail and you cannot QT away turn on uncoupled mode and swerve the ship back and forth from 10 to 2 o'clock and hit the Q and E keys to barrel roll every so often while flying directly away. The C2 can take a lot of damage. If you get EMP damage/disabled stay in seat and use F4 and the Z key to see what's going on around the ship. If they are human pirates and you see them floating to the ship to board they can use ship fire to open the ramps. If they are coming on board they usually come up the ladder you can go their with your gun and shoot down at them on first sight. Same way if they use the elevator. If they want to just blow the ship up I usually ALT F4 to save armor and guns.
Hmmm…
It’s quite hard to take down a C2 even a Cat… whag with the S3 shields
Normally I do 50/50 to boosters and shields
Align with QT marker while in armistice and just full burn out
Just use the Cutlass? Like what?
A flotilla of Drake Cutlass Blacks then. Riding in on Krakens.
The Drake Cutlass Black is like duct tape, made out of duct tape.
If one didn’t work, you just need more Duct Tape.
Sadly the kraken is gonna be shit in atmo
It’s not made for Atmo.
That’s why it has the Drake Cutlass Black.
It’s like the monster from Clover Field.
I think you rely on the cutty too much
It carry’s a bunch of tiny ships to go into the tunnels to get whatever job needs to be done.
Imagine using cutlass black over the cutlass steel
Or the cutlass red
Bruh! We don’t talk about the Cutlass steel. That’s a flat out cash grab by the devs that doesn’t need to exist. Especially since the cutlass black could have been made modular and just had those chairs inserted on rails.
Honestly, the Cutlass black should have just had rails installed and it could have been modular and be capable of doing anything.
Anyway, how cool would it be to see a three Krakens flying in a wedge formation as countless Cutlass Blacks fly out and around looking like a massive swarm of Drake Superiority.
You know you can only fit like… 6 cutty blacks on a kraken?
Oh wait, I was talking about Clover Field.
Right so Clover field wasn’t able to get into the tunnels.
So, just like the Clover Field monster, the Kraken would have to have little babies (The Drake Cutlass Black) that would fly into Atmo (tunnels) for it.
Actually, I did not know that. I don’t really look at any other ships except the Cutlass Black. Still, Carriers are pretty cool. And besides, with the Cutlass Range, it doesn’t really need to be landed on the Kraken at all times, the Kraken just be used as like a mobile base a Cutlass pilot might stop at for a short time before leaving to do another sortie.
😂
Sir you need to see a doctor
Please refer yourself to Maria Pure of Heart ASAP
The Drake Cutlass Black is a great ship that can get me there!
oh god he's in here too
yeah the cutty black is getting shelved soon
for me
because i'm probably gonna switch to a freelancer max
prospector to mine, freelancer hauls
I’m sorry for your loss
wuh?
I feel like a lotta people are being contrarian about the Cutlass just for the sake of being contrarian because of how much people like it. The Cutlass is an amazing ship for what it is. It's not meant to be a cargo hauler for anyone seriously getting into cargo (at most rent it and do some cargo runs to get a better ship). It's first and foremost a pirate vessel to take some of your target's cargo. If your target thinks he's gonna lose all of his cargo he's gonna fight back and ideally piracy happens without violence. If he knows you'll only take 24 SCUs he'll cut his losses because he knows if he fights back the Cutlass is still armed enough to junk him. And a Cutlass in good hands can easily punch above its weight class or take on dedicated fighters. Not only that but it can do bunkers effectively, has multicrew capability and makes an excellent day to day flyer for just getting around, ontop of the utility for ROC mining
It's a great ship, it's just not hyper specialized
I prefer the cutty over the freelancer max, freelanced max is pretty good tho
120 SCU vs 46 SCU, no contest
For hauling yes, but for general purpose cutty is better imo
Cutlass is great for mining if you don't have the patience to fill up a larger ship
Because mining can be a bore sometimes
don't get me wrong it's a good ship but holy fuck man i've heard enough about the cutty black today
You can fill up a cutlass and then (ill-advisedly) go claim a bounty on the way back to sell
or do you mean the cutlass specifically
Cutlass black specifically since the blue and red are more specialized
the blue if you want more shooty and the red if you wanna rescue some poor soul and then loot him as extra payment
And steel if you want more multicrew shooty
i don't think anyone disagrees
i think the black's good just holy hell i've heard enough today
Blue has the same wep loadout as Black
its just got a QED stuffed in the rear instead of a cargo bay
Blue has more health however
I went from the cutty to the F max and Connie andromeda
And - I think less missiles to make up for the QED
I thought it was less missiles
yeah, with how much mining's gonna end up a mainstay in my kit, i think i should invest into a freelancer max
and i should also kit it some
what modules should i put on it?
I can’t really talk as I have had almost every ship at one point or another
Which? The max?
yeah
Yeah… you need the XL-1
anything else worth upgrading?
Not really
one day maybe it will be worth it...
it do works...
Just cant QT with it 😛
you don't have to qt when roc mining I guess
I'm not sure I wont blow up anytime tho xD
As a Cutlass Owner, might I ask
What should I do to get my Cutlass red to travel faster in Quantum Jump?
Because I feel like whenever I take a rescue beacon mission I am always traveling way to slow for what should be ambulance racing through a traffic less road to get to a victim.
change Quantum drive for a military one
What about the XL-1 qt drive?
XL-1 is the best drive for a cutty red
Thank you
I guess at some point I'll blow up because of damages right?
Yup
too bad. could have been a daily roc carrier but it's risky
man the game really doesn't like spawning in prospectors
feels like each time i did so today it did a little hop
welp... i had a prospector. and then it went kaboom because the payload was too funky
you landed in a hangar while you had quant onboard, didn't you
Don't call ATC. Float up to a closed hangar door and wait for your ship to get impounded. If you don't get the impound message in ~30seconds try a different hangar.
There are a bunch of bugs around quant and landing in hangars, only safe bet is to impound instead
this is literally the first time this has happeneddddddd
Well, you can either be smart and impound, or continue to risk your load every time. Your choice
Even if it only happens one out of every like 40 runs, you're still better off impounding even if you pay every time
I've never used the impounded method, and I can only remember three times I've had it go kaboom. It's not a gigantic risk
Even if it only happens one out of every like 40 runs, you're still better off impounding even if you pay every time
What's the impound fee anyway? Last time I got impounded, my ship got impounded while in orbit of Ceillin and it was a 5 grand ticket
impound fee is 5k
5k, and you only need to pay if you pull your ship out again within 15min. If you're taking a break or done for the day, it's free valet parking
question... is the SLAM route for a Taurus a viable option, or are there tons of pirates in the middle?
No, trading slam, widow, or maze isn’t viable because those drugs are bought and sold in exetremely small quantities, meaning it’ll take you literal ages to sell any meaningful amount of any of those drugs
Probably trading laranite/agricium/medical supplies. Go to a place that sells one of those commodities, buy all of it that’s avaliable, and then fill up any empty space with a cheaper commodity that still has a decent profit margin, like titanium
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
Trade tools keeps telling me to buy SLAM...
Under commodities in the options, disallow "Vice"
tbh vices should be disallowed by default
medical supplies take forever to sell tho, even though they have high profit margins
F
Gotta store it or run faster
literally the second i touched down in the hanger i went from my 8 minutes or so to 0
immediately
"hmmm why are my cargo lights going off"
I recommend you use the landing pads rather than the hangers
i can't actually specify can i?
And just sprint for the refinery deck
That’s what I do
It’s even easier now that the elevators are faster
Uhm no you can’t call for one.. but it’s the trade off between speed, and safety
is there a specific place on lyria that is best for quant?
You don’t have to request landing for a landing pad, so if you know where one is you can just go land immediately
Better option though would be to get impounded, like Chris said
It's a bug, doesn't matter how fast you run.
Always impound, never land
that is LAME
Well, now you know
i will also disregard only because i can cope with the loss tbh
simply how it is and i'd rather play as intended
Landing on the pads you don’t have to call for does not cause it to happen
But also leaves you vulnerable to griefers for longer
Yeah that’s what the running part was about
i hold N to use the automatic landing
does anyone know of a place on lyria that has good quant rocks
Literally anywhere
Get down to the surface and start scanning. Look for clusters, all clusters are quant
yh ofc but ive seen ppl say some areas are better due to the algorithm, ive looked for hours before without finding a good rock
yh ofc bu theyre relatively rare some times and even then they dont always have a good %
They lied
its not factual but more like what it seems
It’s the same probability anywhere on the surface I believe..
I’ve heard that mountain/plain biome borders are quite good but never done the maths to verify
Hire a scout to look for you as well
If you can afford it
How am I supposed to read the OVI breakdown? based on sc-trade, I get more from mining minerals on Arial than I would mining Quantanium
sc-trade is wrong
Nothing other than Quantanium is worth mining at this time
is there a better tool?
according to sc-trade, i'll find quant on planets as well. I've never found them on planets
You don't need one...mine quant on Lyria (look for clusters) or the Aaron Halo belt (scan for Q-types at a distance)
Do you mean Lyria?
I clearly said Lyria 😛 (yes, thanks)
just got the game figured out controls know how to get to my ship i just want some help to get started in mining if anybody could help me that would be great
Looking over sc-trade, it says Clio is better than Lyria
Press F Eleven and it opens up the server chat. I recommend asking for help there.
ok thanks
It's wrong.
Technically speaking, the Microtech moons do spawn Quantanium more often than Lyria, but Lyria has a bug feature where all clusters of mineable rocks are Quantanium, which makes finding Quantanium much easier since you just fly around looking for clusters.
thanks Chris
So... is there something other than sc-trade since that appears to be wrong all the time
You don't need to use whatever page you're looking at. All you need to know is this:
mine quant on Lyria (look for clusters) or the Aaron Halo belt (scan for Q-types at a distance)
has anyone had the bug where you are mining and the cargo goes from a mix to pure inert?
Assuming the 15 minute timer hadn't actually elapsed...
- If it happened and you're still out in space, it's just a display bug on the UI. You're fine and your ore will still be quant when you get to the refinery
- If it happened when landing in a hangar, you hit one of a number of bugs around landing in hangars. Don't land in hangars.
I wonder how 3.18 will do with this issue. There's problems with having a ship impounded in 3.18 where it will vanish off the ASOP terminal
hey guys, want to get into cargo hauling - would like to know what are the most profitable trading routes
Returning star citizen player from 6 months ago. I own a caterpillar and was wondering if there are any new good trade routes to make some solid money in this game
Nope...
Glib and likely not totally accurate... But it's as close to nope as to yes
Cargo hauling still scuffed? Is scrap trading back yet?
Nope....
I've seen vids of dug hauling, but its on the PTU, so no competition.
A few commodities you could buy... But it's a crap shoot as to making anything worth the time, vs losing all your investment
Ya, I mine for money, but trade for fun but all it takes is a server hiccup and there goes the whole load. This can happen back to back pretty easily.
Hello! I am new to Quant mining and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to properly mine Quant rocks with 5k+ mass. I have tried using Surge and Stampede modules but I either under or over do it.
Punk, Hi, Can I DM you some ideas on trading? Thanks!!
Surge is just a matter of practice and learning how much it jumps the level.
Alternately, you could print out a ruler that shows the exact distance it'll jump, and then hold that up to the screen to gauge it...
Hahahaha, good point fair enough
Another question, what does resistance and instability mean?
I suspect it has something to do with why my ship exploded once when I mined a deposit
Resistance represents how much power is needed to increase the rock's heat level. It, combined with mass, determine what laser power level would be needed to keep the rock's heat constant.
Instability is how much that will vary while mining. With 0 instability, you'll be able to keep the rock's heat level at an exact point by keeping your laser's power constant. With high instability, the rock's heat level will constantly vary so you'll need to adjust power to compensate.
That happens when you "overcook" a deposit. If the rock's "red zone" is filled at all when the rock pops, it will be more energetic. The more red there is, the more boom there is.
Ah I see
Thank you!
So do you think a Rieger-C2 Module (+8% Optimal Charge Window & +5% Resistance) is worth it then?
No
The problem with passive modules is that they're very expensive, and you lose modules when you claim a ship or it's destroyed
I see, what about a Forel module?
I use 2 surges and a stampede if mining on Lyria (to get the larger deposits), or no modules at all if mining in the belt (since not needed)
Each has advantages and disadvantages
Not worth it IMO--it doesn't increase the size of rocks you can do very much when compared to the Surge
The only other one that is worth considering is the Optimum instead of (or in addition to) the Stampede, since it can make it easier to hit the window
Lyria:
- Big rocks, good payout
- Easy to find quant since all clusters are quant
- Big rocks, hard to crack
- Possible for "pirates" to find you, and harder to get away
- Have to deal with gravity (and chunks sometimes fall through the ground)
Aaron Halo Belt:
- Max rock size is 5.2k so no modules needed
- Can determine rock type from up to 12km using active ping angle tuning so you don't need to get close to see what something is
- No gravity or ground to hit
- Basically impossible for pirates to find you
- Lots of bugged/unscannable rocks
- Max rock size is 5.2k so harder to find a single rock that will fill a Prospector
Thank you so much for the help, this is all extremely useful! I will try to use the Optimum too, just bought it
@ivory gust Is my game bugged or am I doing something wrong? The rock does not seem to want to be scanned
That's an unscannable, it happens sometimes but is fairly rare on Lyria. When you see them on Lyria it means it's time to switch to a different server by heading to space, log out in bed, then log back in
Just my luck hahaha, cool will do, thanks!
My luck continues: Got out of my seat after getting to space and fell to the floor - does this mean I am dying or is there a way to get up? Edit: Managed to find a way to stand up 🙂
That usually means there's some kind of acceleration happening on the ship--for example, if you were going really fast when you got out of the seat, the ship will be slamming on the breaks which will cause you to fall
That was indeed the case!
Where's the cheapest place to rent a roc and cutlass black? I went to arc-l4 based on a guide but it seems the price has changed and it's really expensive now
They're all about the same price, it'll be about 40k for both
Oh ok thanks
I'm looking to buy a Hull A and get into cargo... What would y'all say are the best/safest routes?
I'd rather avoid risky areas or illegal cargo
!tradetools
To avoid illegal cargo, disable the "vice" category under commodities
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
ty!!
Anyone have a reclaimer crew i can join in ptu?
You’re gonna have better luck asking in #looking-for-session
Thanks
I spent a couple of days buying the 5 types of vice and "filled" a A2 and landed at Hurston/Orinth to sell it all. Twenty five meters from that building I had a normal 30K. I am afraid since I was landed at a "location" I will have to claim the ship and lose out on this sale. I am going to puke if it's all gone. I pray to Star Citizen look over me when I go back to the game. FINAL UPDATE: This morning I got on a server with only 8 other players and didn't have any problems selling this cargo. I think the A2 is perfectly sized for the Vice runs at 49 SCU. I made 4 stops with a double purchase at each selling place. The highest SCU bought per vice was 16 and the lowest was 4. The COST was $1,679,800.00 and the GROSS PROFIT was $1,973,588.00. The NET PROFIT was $293,788.00.
If 30k protection worked you can "retrieve" from anywhere in the system
You're right the cargo, illegal as it is, is safe on the ship!!! YEEEAAA!! However I flew straight to Orinth and another ship was there and I waved off and headed back to port.
where would be a common place to salvage? im looking for a place with the most salvage.
salvage isn't in game yet
to be fair, the title of this channel has salvage in the name. Id dare to say that PTU would apply at the moment
But you were in an A2? Why not just make the other ship go boom 🙂
Most of the L points are great for salvage
When 318 comes out salvage will probably be overrepresented and able to be found most everywhere near asteroids. Right now you can even go into Aaron's halo and find salvage. So it is going to be most everywhere like mining is
Naww I'm a lover not a fighter. Plus one time I saw a distortion/emp ship parked right at Arc Corp 141 so with this much valuable cargo at stake I decided clear off and come back another time...
You take a look at those upcoming salvage missions? Suuuuper interesting, especially the free-for-all one.
yes, and it seems there will be some parallel type missions like that for Mining also
in 3.18??
Or not until 3.19?
thinking 3.19 iirc
ok
3.18 is a monster with so many changes, 3.19 will be the polish build before 4.0
Im soo excited for the next part of cargo refactor in 3.19
If i were to rent a ship in-verse to do cargo, which would you recommend?
I'm looking at a Freelancer or Connie
A Connie is much more expensive but has 30 more SCU of cargo then a Freelancer
Cargo by itself isn't very profitable tbh
If you're just moving loads of refined ore from prospector mining the Freelancer would be the better option, it fits just barely 2 loads at a time for a lot cheaper tbh
Though the connie also fits exactly 3 loads so do you value ingame money or your time more
i value fun tbh
I really did use tbh twice in a row huh
yep tbh
xD
Cargo seems like a fun gameplay loop for me, so even if it isnt the most profitable id like to get into ti
*it
I you want to do serious cargo I'd just save up (or beg ingame xd) for the money for a Caterpillar, C2 Starlifter or Connie Taurus
Before then if you already have one the Cutlass Black has a lot of cargo for its size honestly
i plan to buy the hull a
I did some Widow and E'Tam runs with it and made nice monis
Hull E or bust ngl
why setlle for 64 when you could have 98,000 and change
:^)
yea xDDD
Only costs 300 million to fill it up! :)))
(and like a century of waiting at a terminal lol)
oo noice. A lot of emergent gameplay options coming up. Glad to see some options around vocations, and the idea of having multiple players able to accept the same mission is nice too. Sure piracy will be a threat but it'll really push people to bring some backup. I hope they set those rewards accordingly lol
Is there a way to sell minerals directly from the roc?
Not while inside it no
Oh no I meant can I do it the same way as I do with a ship at a terminal? So I don't have to unload the roc into my ship everytime
Oh, yeah you can do that
Don’t have to take your ROC out of your ship either
Well, thanks for informing me! Won't have to waste 30 mins emptying it everytime now :D
💀 happy to help
Sometimes you do need to pull the ROC out of the ship for it to show up at the trade terminal
Yeah, just seen that when I went to sell after moving everything to my ship
Can someone teach me how to mine i have the mole and the prospector
have you hand/ROC mined before?
nope
ngl i recommend you do those first
I just found that Daymar Cave and "mined" 42 Dolivine from some guys I shot up and earned $53,300.00. Once you find the darn cave the layout it will be easier to run. I did not have the "Clear Criminal Nest" mission so did not see any loot boxes. I only went as far as the first bigger drop down. ADDITIONAL INFO: I was reading some comments about the mission and selling the gems out of your backpack at Admin can lead to the infinite inventory lockup. Instead, transfer them to your ship or local inventory then sell. So now I'm going to toss that backpack into space.
both prospector and mole need mining laser upgrades and mining modifiers to be worth a damn
there are a lot of youtube guides on mining in SC
TLDR is you charge up a laser to fracture a rock containing goodies and collect the goodies, hand + ROC goodies can be sold immediately, ship goodies need to be refined to be worth their maximum
The MOVE ALL and stacking is going to be so awesome for events like ROC, hand mining and more.
Can't wait for that option! I shelved ROC mining and got into the Vice trade in the meantime.
Are the best lasers Helix II?
Lancet
I take it mining is still bugged though righ?
I've tried a few times this week and can never scan anything or mine anything that is a mineable rock, aside from inside the caves. I was trying to surface mine in the roc
I was doing surface mining with the roc last night, didn't face any issues at all
tried with ROC and cutty, worked for me
might be a technique or your method of using scan that is giving you unfavorable results
I can find mineable rocks
The scan just does nothing, on ship or ROC, and then even if i just use the mining mode, it does nothing
If u purchase something right into that backpack and then use the bought item, the backpack is fixed
Okay good will get it fixed soon. Great tip.
Where are you looking?
Aberdeen is the premo spot for Hadanite. But you will need the Pembroke armor set for that moon
I tried that, wouldnt let me mine any rocks even though i could see them on ping as being rocks to mine
what rocks can i break with a rented prospector
You gotta look for the diamond symbols with the ROC.
