What are you looking to mine?
The best stuff to mine is Quant, but if your in a rental/stock prospector, the Pretty much anything to get your experiance and skills up
quant i have a prospecter i mine in the halo mainly but lyria is better
People keep on saying that, but I'm not so sure...
to many unscannables
Same planet side if I'm honest
i found a 40% rock already in 5 mins wouldve took me 30 mins up there
Wait, are you not doing the narrow ping trick?
how do i do that
This video covers a technique I call Active Ping Angle Tuning and how you can utilize the technique to improve your surveying skills. This is very useful when scouting the asteroid belt or if you are searching for Quantainium clusters on Lyria.
For an in depth guide to surveying in the belt, check out my previous video here: https://www.youtub...
You start with the 360/179 degree ping
Then once you get a hit, you narrow your ping angle and re-scan in the direction of the hits
You can scan down rocks up to like, 15k away using this]
Has to be line of sight though
Quick question, I was thinking of upgading my pledge to a prospector mining ship and was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on if i should do it or not?
What were you going to CCU from?
so what do i need to mine big rocks on lyria?
The 5.5k rocks and up can only really be broken with multiple people, a MOLE or the surge active module that helps increase it's power
so i need a surge module?
Personally I prefer going passive, not have to keep on replacing them then
whats passive way then?
Slightly less powerful, but they dont get used up and are always on
When quant mining, I like 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3
i got some mineral looted from a mission, how should i sell them, i can't sell them at admin, neighter at the ore sales counter
Pretty sure I have already answered this one. The small boxes that say 'Metal' are probably scrap which sells for 1.92 aUEC per unit, and their 12.5 unit boxes, 1/8th SCU.
can it break 5.5k and up?
if you do still wanna sell them though, check this link otu
https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Scrap
Nope, not without additional ships. Without the active modules, the prospector just cant output enough laser power on it's own to crack the 5.5k+ rocks
Hence why I like Aaron Halo mining much more
The hornet
I would hold off then
It's easier enough to use your hornet to spam out bounties and then jsut buy a Prospector in game
ah alr then
any reccomendations on what i should upgrade the hornet too?
@glacial dagger
I wouldn't
The Hornet is a good ship
Only think I might recommend upgrading it up to is a Buccaneer
I dont think i canmy only options are Freelancer max and dur, mantis, prospec, consttauraus andromede and quilla, corsair mole and galaxy
so tbh not sure what i should do
I would hold off for now 😄
alrighty then
@glacial dagger is there going to be an event soon that adds more upgradable ship options?
Not a clue, but I hope so
alrighty
also how do you upgrade to a buc :/
@glacial dagger i am so sorry one more question, do you reckon upgrading to the mantis could be worthwhile? or a waste of a purchase
So, do we know how Salvage will work gameloop wise? Will we have to find our ships to salvage like we do asteroids? Will there be salvage missions?
Im quite out of the loop
Ships will spawn that can be salvaged, like mining. Or any player ships that have a “soft death”
There’s been no talk of missions yet. But we’re only in tier 0 of salvage. Hull munching and component stripping should be worked on next
I want to say there was talk of trade and mining missions, but nothing fully announced. I’d imagine salvage would get included if they did
With the changes to distortion, I wonder if there is a reason not to add these to Vultures and do VLRTs....
What changes to distortion?
They aren't very useful anymore. Again.
oh, my understanding is that it will shut down the internal components and thereby shutting the ship down, so it's not happening anymore with the new patch?
I just bought sentinel, so I guess I should upgrade components right away
I haven't used them in .17, but from what everyone has said, their damage was nerfed to the point of being useless again.
Oh, that, yes, the damage is way less, might as well go with laser repeaters or cannon
They were really fun for a while, when atmo bounties came out they were hilariously good.
But I'm just going off of second hand knowledge from what I've read here. I haven't tested it myself recently.
Components will take damage, then just shut off for 5 minutes.
No further damage will be taken at that time, so you can't lock someone up.
5 minutes is enough to get away, or board and take over etc...
I'll be adding distortion weapons to my haulers for this reason.... Subject to usefulness... Might be they don't do anything at all.
Can you still do damage to the ship with other non-distortion guns?
I think you meant no further damage to the ship's components will be done once they get shut off, right?
Ehh, in my opinion, the Mantis is really only good for multi-fleet operations and act as just the QT dampener. It's fighting capabilities are kings trash tbh
Not further damage from distortion... If you distort someone off, you can blast them with regular guns
ok, thanks
This is all based off of the patch watch notes.... Might be either me getting things wrong in interpretation, or they won't do it that way....
I hope distortion becomes a thing unto itself.
Shutting a ship off and blowing them up maybe not the same thing....
Adding some gameplay to reduce the time your ship is floating through power rerouting
Yeah, and shutting it off for 5 whole minutes sounds too much time
The point is eventually you aren't supposed to be blowing everyone up, shutting down is meant to be much more common. Distortions will definitely come into play later when we have the proper game loops for it.
I think part of that is going to fall into the engineering stuff later. You'll be able to repair or replace components that get damaged/shut down.
TTK is supposed to get much longer, so you'll have time to do those emergency things.
I'm thinking of shutting down and hull stripping
anyone doing mole minging
Well, just did my first real mining run. Found a rock of quaint and have 640 ish units refining atm. We will see how it turns out in 16hr when it is done xD
Also, what is the reason for the prospector to come with an Arrow? Might melt my gladius if it will be a continuing thing next patch
most not fighting ships (or ships without pilots guns) comes with a light fighter as a loaner. For example Vulture comes with a buccaneer.
Gotcha so can melt thr gladius np then and mebbe upgrade a hauler
What is the average unit of quaint vs scu ratio?
A "unit" is exactly 1/100 SCU
So 640 units is 6.4 SCU
Awesome, that's very helpful thank you
do yall think its better to mine quant in space or on lyria?
Entirely personal preference, there are advantages and disadvantages to both
Done two runs on Lyria and have roughly 220k in profit refining atm
Would had more but made the mistake of picking up junk rocks and ran out of cargo room
is quant the only thing worth mining ? lol
If you want money, yes
would I mine laranite if I want to get enough money to buy the prospector and mining head?
since rentals cant get quant
available from stations with a refinery, which I think are at any L1 point
How long did that take?
anyone want to go mining i need a crew for my mole
#looking-for-session would be a better place to ask
Aberdeen has the highest concentration of hadanite, you will need Pembroke armor there. Arial is second. Daymar is good for those who don't have armor. You can sell the gems at any outpost or Admin office
Do we have an idea of how profitable salvaging is going to be?
Initially, I think they said on par with quant mining? I could be remembering wrong though. But it'll definitely change over time.
It being a usable material too means you might keep a box for yourself. Replenish yours and your mates multitool for ship repair
@craggy garden just solo it dawg
Oh so pretty good payout then. If that is the case then I might buy back my Vulture for 3.18
EDIT: I finally made it to Brio's Yard on Daymar to sell some Agricium. They took 5000 units which was about half I had bought at 4 different stops. I was hoping they would buy all. So this has limited utility if bought in larger amounts. Did not record the sale price and when I went back to dump the rest the following day some reds chased me off with a missile barrage but I QT to Crusader to sell it.
So yh, different places have maximum stock levels for purchasing and selling. They might also not be able to buy all your cargo because this might put them beyond their max capacity
SC Trade Tools can help give you a rough idea on what the max levels and refresh rates are
But don't take these values as the hard truth, as the game can update during play that the website just cant update to
how can i enter mine mode in mole, i tried to enter the mode in pilot seat, but nothing happen
You don't mine from the pilot seat, you mine from one of the 3 mining seats
how can i check the rocks content??
Press v for scanner and scan it while very close
Or look the usual way from a mining seat
kk thx
It's kinda a pain so if you're hunting Quant, go to lyria and any time there's multiple rocks, it's Quant
kk thx, i just upgrade to this ship
Anywhere else I'd use a Prospector if solo
kk
I think to get as many as possible to test out Salvage, they will make it both easy to find and profitable. That was what they did when they rolled out ROC mining. They had whole planets and moons that were 100% hadanite. So you could turn some good coin in a short time
Note that they said the salvage item will sell for about the same as quant per SCU, but that doesn't cover how quickly it's collected or how hard it is to find
This is true
And if you’re in a vulture, it’s gonna take 2 runs to make the same amount as one quant run in a prospector
Assuming you get only quant that is
My current hopium is that there will be warbonds on some haulers for 3.18 and PES release, particularly Hull A, so I can justify completing my Vulture CCU chain
Otherwise, I'll just be hand tool salvaging or not salvaging at all
@grand trout https://cstone.space/resources/knowledge-base/36-refinery-to-aaron-halo-mining-routes You'll want this for Aaron Halo mining
:)
Sadly no
there really should be
Things that will come later. Exploration is almost entirely about logging things like that (theoretically). It will come.
For Halo mining, just set your route back to your refinery station and only move in that general direction, and don't look behind you. You won't check rocks twice that way
So when you first land in the Halo, check all around you and investigate any Q-types, then start heading only toward your refinery station, investigating any Q-types along the way
How do I tell how much I can fit with 32SCU/
?
like if rocks say "mass 70" or something, how do I calculate that value to SCU to know if I need to break up more quant or if I have enough there to fill my cargo?
At 5000 mass, 1% = 1 SCU
Can also use a calculator like https://sc-mining.app/
Dope! Ty
Just noticed the Cutter and Vulture have the same thrusters.
I have a new question. Is there a trade resource site that lists item sold per terminal? That way if I'm going to a new place for "Gold" I could look and see what else they carry for sale. Any leads?
that they do
What do I do if rocks wont scan?
Move on. Those are unscannables. Happens all the time in the belt
Why not? Go to bed, lie down in bed, hold F, pick "log out" from the menu
Are there some rocks you can't crack with a Prospector?
I found a 7400 mass rock, and I can't find a place where the charge level will go up
you probably need a mining gadget
prospies do have limits
You'll need modules and/or gadgets in order to mine anything about ~5.5k mass. 2 surge modules and a stampede module should work for just about anything.
rip I found a 40% 7400 rock
So I guess I'll just keep finding something
I currently have two Torrent III and a Focus III
40% 7400 is almost enough to fill two prospectors, could also ask for help in chat and flip a coin as to whether you get another miner or a pirate
whats the cargo space on the corsair again?
weakest part of the ship
yeah
decided to use my cat for once, impromptu cargo hauling time
aaaaand I CTD upon landing, awesome
bye bye money
Getting the full experience!
Fr
Hello there, are there any websites or tools to see commodity demand and supply in real time?
No, that information isn't available outside the game.
Nope, there's currently no central location for that, would just have to visit each destination yourself to find out the current price.
A site like !tradetools can show you the base price for something at a location, but it can vary up or down from that
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
apparently R&D orinth on hurston will buy 20SCU of E'tam at a time
thats good to know
That's the max it can take so if anyone sold idk 18scu just before you arrived well gl selling your 20. It'll take ages
Oh and those 20scu are shared between all servers too btw
I know
That "shared between all servers" is the worst/most frustrating part, since anyone with half a brain could've seen that it wouldn't scale with more players.
If I see another player at the console before me (or just another trading ship parked there) then yeah, I can understand their supply or demand might be low
I dont think ive ever seen someone else at R&D orinth when i do drug running
Just kill him... Make supply and demand yours xD
but you will see them after server meshing
A) Most of these are in armistice so you can't
B) that's my point, you don't see the people
Yeah, and that's going to suck because these locations aren't designed to handle more than one person at a time
Just like at the start of this wipe, the massive queues to buy ships at New Deal on Lorville since there's only the one terminal
That is so dumb
I do hope they either increase the refresh rate, the refresh amount or max stock
The singular terminal
Imagine if World of Warcraft only allowed one person to interact with each vendor or banker or auctioneer at a time
Guys... The shame is it's supposed to be future and you can't order your ship online... Going to ship vendor is so old fashioned 🤣
Yep, or why do I need to take the subways across town to physically get to a terminal to sell my stuff from my ship back at the spaceport? I should be able to do it from my mobiglass. Even if not, any sensible business buying/selling from ships would be located at the spaceport
Alternately, why the hell aren't the hotels at the spaceport in the cities? IRL airports have hotels all around them
anything special I should know before trading SLAM? 😛
in my small Cutter
(I want to come back to Star Citizen even if I'm waiting for the reset... it's wasted time BUT I can learn more about the game, no?)
Guys, i am new to mining and i got a mole, where should i go mining
Dont buy too much, be prepared to travel a lot to see your cargo, and avoid the no questions asked terminals, they buy it for a much lower price
not worth it tbh. supplies are low and demand as well so you'll take a lot of time selling something that doesn't give a good income
To begin with, mine anything anywhere, just build up your experiance
Once you start getting some more experiance and can possibly pull togethere a crew, start looking towards getting quant mining in the Aaron Halo or lyria
thanks guys!
Nw bud, happy to help
I think I'll improve my skills in mining then, renting a Prospector and (fingers crossed) hoping to make that cost back in a night 😛
kk thx
But yh, go easy with drug trading, supply can be tantalisingly high, but demand is almost always on the lower side
Nw bud, and good luck mining
after all, I like living in a refinery xD
This guide will be your very best friend on time saving skills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz8TOCUa0Ms
If any of the mods are watching this, please could this video be pinned, it's really useful for just about everyone
oh yes yes, I know almost everything* about mining, I only need to practice more because I'm not lucky enough and I find bugged asteroids and/or I need to learn how to only mine the fragments worth mining xD
also, I need to check how fast I can get the money back after renting the ship 👍
(community and those videos are the best part of SC) xD
you know, I tried with the free ones from the event BUT I was making a lot of mistakes and I was taking my time 😛
no rush
but NOW... eh
24 hours for me
Day renting isn't worth it. 3 days rental, especially over the weekend, you can defo make your money off it
I hope you have a cargo ship with at least 32 SCU storage
why, is it "cheaper" when it is for 3 days?
eh no, no cargo ship, I'd have to rent that one too!
I only have my Cutter
3 days technically costs less than getting 3 1 day rentals
Also, I would reccomend doing combat missions until you have saved up enough aUEC to buy a Prospector, buecause the rental prospector cant really break much, especially not the juicy quant rocks
Also, you cant upgrade the rental prosp
I think you are right
I have 390k aUEC and it's been a pain
and 100k was a donation xD
This Sunday i rented Cutty+ROC for 38k and mine Hadenite worth 300k. Its not much but it honest work. BTW I like ROC mining :)
What's your largest cargo capable ship?
And yh, ROC mining is pretty dam fun, especially when you find a consistant spawn of rocks 😄
consistant, as in the same place you return/relog to?
Tried to fit the ROC in the Cutlass in the past, I made a mess and run out of patience 😅
Cutter. I think it's 4 SCU
Also, 300k is really good for me 😅
ROC fit perfect in Cuttlas Black. Use 3d person cam view, deactivate mining mode and will be fine
Guys, i can't see the mineral content on mole's pilot seat even i pressed V, any solution?
Yup, and no, I'm not telling anyone where it is...
Your gonna been a larger cargo capacity ship than that to move yoru refined goods
The refinery deals are 1 time outputs, if you try and load 32 SCU of refined ore into a 12 SCU ship, the game will delete 20SCU of goods
Where abouts are you?
yep, I'm aware of that... my career AFTER reset is clear, what I should be doing before the reset it not clear xD
on the surface of yela
Combat to build up the funds for running large amounts of cargo
That's my reccomendation anyway
Gonna be running combat missions till I hit 1 miil, then start running my cargo
Ok, have you tried looking at the rock through a mining turret?
i got the info through the turret, but not the pilot seat
Then just use the turret for getting mineral data
This is why I reccomend getting a crew together before going Mole Mining
Stops the pilot having to constantly go back and forth between pilots seat and mining turret
ok...
Quick Question(coming over from #helpdesk):
I'm currently at Hurston/Magda/HDMS-Perlman and I want to sell Dolvine.
Uexcorp.space says, that I can sell it here for 130aUEC per Unit, but when I open the trading console in the building on the right there's no location that I can sell it from, I have some in my ship, some at the facilty and some in my Backpack, what am I doing wrong/not getting?
How close to the rock are you? Scan mode(v) has to be within around 200meters.
Dolvine can be sold at any outpost and Admin office
Is this from picking up off of bodies of NPCs? Then I'm not sure if the kiosk will see it. I know if you mine it directly, you have no issues selling it
It's PvP loot so idk tbh
Picking from bodies is still sold at admin stations.
thx death, good to know
No probs. Can be from mining, cave bodies, or pvp. And 99% sure can be sold from backpack or your ship
could be the inventory might be bugged out, so you might need to see about maybe move one or two and see if they show up
Since you got it from pvp you might need a no questions asked terminal
Perhaps
You can hit up reclamation and disposal orinth on hurston if you need one of those
have CIG indicated that they'll be changing either cargo prices or supply/demand next patch?
They said they aren’t making any changes. I want to say it was in a Q&A
Nope
Here’s the current major updates
Hull C would be totally wasted in the current game. All the best trade routes require landing on planets or moons, which the Hull C can't do while laden
So wait, someone said there is some way to fly like 6k up, and then scan so only double rocks show up?
How does that work?
On the Hull series... Is there going to be a way to load these up with your own cargo? Stolen or found...
Or is this just professionally loaded only?
Addendum.... I think the likely answer is a shrug.... Thought I'd ask
Because the cardio refactor will be brand new along with persistent entity streaming, Tier Zero with no changes only makes sense
A pirate hull would be interesting
A pirate group using a hull b or C to haul all their stolen goods, doesn’t seem very smart though
I wonder if they will snap to the grid... Magnetics and all
ok so, I rented the Prospector because I was bored and I don't care about money anyway (reset)
1st time: the game disconnects me in the middle of the mining session, with an error I never had before; oh well;
2nd time: I raise landing gear BEFORE taking off, and for absurd reasons the two are connected and I wasn't able to take-off anymore, so I rage quit
3rd time: I complete the trip and AFTER I enter the hangar the games says that's not my hangar; ship get impounded so now I probably need to pay a fine more costly than my whole cargo
either this game hates me, or I'm too clumsy and I should really wait for the official release 😉
I don't think so, at least not soon(tm). The scale is just too massive once you get to the Hull C and larger.
2: You may have accidentally triggered autoland. There's a bug right now where if you trigger autoland while already landed, the ship gets stuck and you can't take off. Fix is to store/retrieve the ship
3: You only need to pay the impound fine if you're taking the ship out again within 15min. I intentionally get impounded every time I come back from a mining trip (since there's bugs around normal landings with quant) and it's not a problem.
The impound isn't bad. Infact, it's the safest way to land because sometimes the ship will explode when landing
- possible, even if I just press once (not hold) N when taking off, but who knows 😄
- ohh interesting! I'll save 5000 credits! 😄 thanks
eh yes I know quant is dangerous but no, I mined basic (and not valuable) stuff 😄
I've also accidentally triggered autoland even when I thought I've just tapped it not held. I actually unbound it from my joystick since I never use it anyway
good tip xD
as I said before, this is the only game I love and hate at the same time 😄
Also what do ya'll suggest as a mining module loadout for the Prospector?
I feel like I'm not running the right one
If you're mining on a moon: 2 surge modules, 1 stampede module. This will allow you to break large rocks.
If you're mining in space: doesn't matter, use what you want
Cool!
Do you have any preferences for the space mining? I'd imagine having a surge module would help you crack a rock quicker?
It can yes, but I just go without when space mining since I'm lazy
I know some people apparently use a stampede in space to speed crack rocks
Someone ingame also said that solo Prospector you should just go to the belt, if you're doing duo prospector or mole then go to a planet
That's one way of looking at it, yeah
So someone also said you can somehow scan a rock from like 10k out in Aaron Halo to see if its a Q type? How would you do that?
This video covers a technique I call Active Ping Angle Tuning and how you can utilize the technique to improve your surveying skills. This is very useful when scouting the asteroid belt or if you are searching for Quantainium clusters on Lyria.
For an in depth guide to surveying in the belt, check out my previous video here: https://www.youtub...
After hanger landing they have told me the wrong info on occasion just ignore it. The impound fees go away after 15 minutes or so. I to have rage quit but have become more accepting of how the game is.
Do rocks persist between sessions/servers? As in, if I return to my current location later in time will the rocks still be there?
are the turrets on the MOLE busted? seems like different players can no longer scan separate rocks
No
I'm curious if they would though with PES coming in though
Thanks
Hopefully
If you're still on the same server and return to the same location, the rocks should still be there, but they don't persist otherwise
This should be loaded up onto janus
I requested this literally yesterday here #industrial-professions message
Also...
Nobody else experiencing the scanning problem with the MOLE? Or is this a known problem
I haven't had any issues scanning in the MOLE but I haven't had multiple people in turrets before.
Is it possible it's just the normal unscannable rock issues?
I might check IC, my buddy and I experienced it while operating a MOLE together. Whoever started scanning/mining a rock, the other player could only see THEIR progress. I.e. can't scan/mine two separate rocks at the same time which I seem to recall having done in the past
That's super weird, yeah
Think a hull A would be sufficent to haul refined quant?
It can haul up to 2 full Prospector loads at a time, so it's usable to start with, but long term you'd probably want something bigger
I just learned modules for galaxy are necessary to not have an empty room (or landing pad actually). Will module be buyable ingame after the ship got released?
idk if it's considered an extra item like mining head or paint for example
Presumably they'll be buyable in game at some point, but we don't know if they'll be buyable in game right at release
It's not a landing pad when there's no module, it's just a big empty room. The door to the hangar is too small for it to be useful
Super dumb IMO, it should just be the cargo space by default
I'm pretty sure they said that "room" is large enough for xxs ships to land
like the size of a small PO landpad
...Yes. The Hangar is.
The empty space where the modules go is large, but you can't get anything in there except through the small door to the hangar
Nope, hangar is behind the modular area
damn that's a lot of place to remain empty without a module... I'll have to get a module then. Just have to decide which one xD
I wouldn't buy one for real money. Wait to see how they're available in game
yeah I meant ingame. that'll be pretty cheap I guess. Like a million at max
should be around 2 years or so before modules are close to being in game so plenty of time to wait out options.
Same just get them ingame no point on spending cash on the model. There not worth the price.
Gonna go get my Cutty B & Roc soon. Not exactly rolling in credits, but might go for a reasonable upgrade. Any upgrades i should slap on to start?
xl-1 quantum drive to be sure
Tx
Hey folks, got a question for you'll which ship is the best for transporting refined materials?
my money is on the cat, but im a lil new to the mining/transporting biss
RAFT
3 Refinery jobs of Quant
Enough to make it worth doing, not too many loads to lose in client crashes or other SC shenanigans
cat is a bit overkill, I personally use the raft
Freelancer MAX. Nearly 4 full loads, and unlike RAFT it can carry vehicles, so it's more versatile
Taurus is fine too. Maybe a bit slower but looks cool 😎
Oh, the MAX is defo a good one..
My programmer head has 1 thing to do 1 job though.
The RAFT can't have a vehicle, so use that for refinery jobs. The MAX can hold vehicles, so use that for that and the odd Laranite pickup.
The Taurus is more of a jack of all, as you can get 3 jobs in, and some vehicles
yeah, fatlancer is a lot more versatile I'll give it that
but damn does the raft have a nice interior
I'm looking for a CCU for a RAFT as I think it will always have a use for Refinery jobs or Hauling
Perfect thanks for speaking up everyone helps bunches ^^
you can carry almost 5 and 1/2 loads in a taurus
3 is my limit
More and you're risking alot of lost bank through crashes of all sorts
If I were to log off in bed in a cutty black while roc mining, would I be able to log in and start where I left off?
In an ideal world
What will actually happen can be truly random.
Your landing gear will be up, and the ROC may or may not be in your hold.
You may or may not be on the ship, but could be merged into the ship.
This may or may not mean you can move through your ship and not interact with anything.
I have bed logged on a Taurus, and been standing in the Cargo Bay like a sleep walker
I somehow survived the triple red box error message (Screen Lock) in a Cutter on Ita. Was revived a few feet up in the air in the ship's galley/bed area. I used the "Lie Down" command to get back to normal walking and then flying. This type crash generally causes loss of the ship and any cargo. Anyone have this type recovery?
damn, now don't make me want to have a Raft...
too many nice ships 😛
and no money xD
Should I buy the vulture?
is MOLE bugged? My friend bought one and even in VTOL mode it can't hover in plaace
he needs to manually press space to thrust it a bit every few seconds
He might be in decoupled mode, I think the default key bind is Alt C for toggling between coupled and decoupled mode
He said the MOLE is a bit more stable when the landing gear is out
What do you guys think of the MSR? I have been looking at it
It's a decent enough ship, though most of its intended gameplay is implemented yet. But it makes for a good enough run around, light cargo ship. Quick, because it's meant to run from trouble rather than fight.
Overpriced and bloated with very poor use of internal space. It's on par with the Freelancer Max for cargo, but costs 2x as much.
It's also Under gunned and under shielded.
Accel. limiter all the way up?
IDK what his deal was, but I can confirm that in ARC-L1 hangar, when I'm hovering in VTOL mode and I turn off VTOL the ship immediately falls
it doesn't happen in Lyria strangely enough
I don’t usually mine apart from some roc mining the odd time, what’s the big difference between the prospector and mole ?
Prospector is a dedicated solo miner. You can solo a Mole but it's more efficient with a crew.
I tired the prospector awhile ago but had no clue when to use the sub charge
Were you trying to mine Quantanium?
Yes on lyria I like planet mining not space
Did you have the Lancet MH1 mining head?
Yes I did
I'd practice on rocks smaller than 5k mass, with no mods to get the hang of it. When you get bigger than that is when you need ship equipment to crack.
Ok that’s great advice, what’s the best place to mine quant and best base to stay at and sell it at or get them to refine it at
I go to OM-1 (down to surface) at Lyria, as you can always be in the sunlight. Then I always transport to Arc-L1 refinery to process it.
Since Area 18 is close, I sell refined there. You can get small bonuses by shopping around, but not worth it to me.
I think quantainium is always 88/unit
Oh, yeah
3% at CRU-L1
Which I mine the Halo, so that's perfect for me there
With the new ceiling at Orison, I might be doing most all my work out of the Crusader area
How long do you have until you need to get back to arc l1 until the quant explodes
Is there a way to only scoop quant
Yes, you get a good crack on a high percentage rock and only scoop 100% pure
Would my andromeda be a good ship to transport the quant to A18 ? Or something smaller
Sure is
What's the SCU?
I use my Taurus
@teal ridge do you have a Prospector that own?
I was going to upgrade a ship to get one and I do have the andromeda I could melt and grab the Taurus
I would not burn your Connie for a different Connie. But getting a Prospector would help you earn good coin quickly
notice edit
I use the andromeda for bounties but bounties get boring so I could use it andromeda for bounties and to haul refined quant
That's a good role for her
96 scu
How much would that be worth it’s not all about making cash, I need to mix up the gameplay bounties and mining
Having fun is the key
Money is irrelevant. Do the fun thing.
Too bad that doesn't work in real life, but it's great for low stress gaming.
Got me a prospector
You'll be rich in about a week if you mine twice a day
2 quant rocks a day for a week, collect with a rented herc or something and boom 1.2-2.0mil
That’s if I don’t blow up 🤣
Yes, because stations have higher gravity than Lyria. MOLE needs to use VTOL to lift up in a 1G environment like stations or planets
Are L1 not Arc L1 wide forest?
haulin is really bad for money right?
It’s not terrible for money if you have a big ship like a C2/cat/carrack, but the risk involved is what makes it not worth it
You’re spending a lot of money to make a little bit of money back, and in the timeframe between buying and selling you can lose all of it
yeah i mean when i see a guide on hauling and see them talking about 20k profit for a run i cant believe it
like what is 20k
and thats with medium freighters ofc but still
yeah, its not really worth doing unless you have the biggest cargo ships
Hauling will see it's biggest change next year since it was introduced in game. 3.18 won't be that change but it will hold the technology to begin introducing a whole new trade system
we really need rep based hauling
yeah, the game , even with all its faults and issues, is heading in a good direction
I concur, though 3.18 might make December a rough month if they don't tighten up the code a little more
They are making way more headway than I ever thought they could though
it also makes sense when you think about it, they have been making the tools they need and hiring the people to make the features. Like how they develop the tools to generate planets. It might feel super slow to begin with (lets be honest, 10 years is still 10 years), but the potential for things to really take off is there.
The new testing tools for builds is making this test cycle way faster, imo
mmm yes 1.18
all good lol
Do anyone know why it is lagging when i am operating the mining laser of mole?? I don't lag else where
interesting...when i go to a trade terminal, I can see ships i no longer have (rentals from IEA)
bug?
The Mole has been having a lot of issues recently, hopefully it will be sorted soon-ish
Defoa bug, I wouldn't try using them for trading
nah i wouldn't just was surprised to see them there lul
Ehh, kinda happens almost every year at this rate
oh and another thing i was curious about
the little presents
says sell at adming.. but i couldn't at the trading console
Ah, the lumaniear gifts
Yeah, they have to be sold in admin terminals, not the trading consoles
what's the difference... are these not the ones inside admin offices?
Ah, sorry, didn't realise you were already in an admin office
They are sold there, but it might not have kicked in jsut yet
Wait, can you send a pic of the perminal your using?
not atm, but i'm in everus, walk into admin, theyre's 2 of them in the right
on the right
they do say trading, but there isn't anything else
maybe wrong location
And your defo in the orange admin office, yh?
Yh, it's probably jsut a case of they cant be sold just yet
I would still stock them up though, I think they go for like, 1k each?
Get a Novikov or pembroke on and store them all in yoru suit, then transfer to yoru local inventory when full and start over again
I like doing it at GH because it's a nice little loop you can do
i keep doing bunkers in minimal armor with ahandgun, getting ready for dat wipe
no room for them lol
Ah, fair enough
it's also more fun
I mean, tbf, with the wipe incomming, i'm struggling to make myself do anythign in the verse unless it's jsut for the hell of it
ikr
Oh, I have cleared a hurston bunker on litterally nothing before, i jsut ran around naked and choaked them all out
Now that is fun and great for keeping you on edge around the AI
Yup
Not even an undersuit
0 protection
Maximum movement
Why have defense when you dont get hit?
😄
I am supposed to be able to leave MOLE hovering in Lyria, right?
I have 2 friends and I would like to help them with another lancet
But I feared that it'd fall to its death somehow
You have to use VTOL mode
What's the gift for?
But it will stay in the air, right?
My mole tends to rubber band alot during vtol once I start mining
I started last year and turned into a mall rat at NBIS collecting these gift boxes and made $335,000.00. But then they nerfed the value. Now they are back at top dollar. How weird. I suggest selling every day or so but don't collect to many.
Where do you get the gifts?
how much does running SLAM make?
Yeah, the MOLE "bounces" slightly when there's no one in the pilot seat while mining on a moon. Super annoying
Yeah annoying enough that I never use the mole alone
And forcing someone to sit in the pilot seat and do nothing while mining doesn't sound particularly fun for them
Watch youtube or play on your phone, thats what I do
Typically when I set out to play Star Citizen, I want to play star Citizen.
You are playing, you're the one who gets the money from mining.
It's a realistic sim game. Mining is a time consuming, tedious activity. It's gonna be the same thing when the Orion comes out
Pilot just makes sure the ship still flies and moves to assist the crew
It's still a game, and having someone sit there and do nothing for fifteen minutes isn't fun or interesting.
The MOLE pilot should've had access to one of the mining lasers
I'm all for it honestly. But I tend to multi-task so I sit there and do other things while people mine, which is why I don't have an issue probably.
And then because it's a realistic sim game, your crew realize they're doing all the work while you're making all the money and mutiny and kill you
Or worse, unionize and demand benefits including dental
Hello Fartbox: The red/green 1K gift boxes are scattered throughout the Stanton System. It starts officially on the 11th but they are in the wild right now unless its the PTU - not sure. I found the bigger the "city" you look for these the better. That is why I collected all mine at NBIS. They generally spawn in the same spots in different amounts. So I got to know those spots after a few runs so could collect 15 to 28 or so each sweep. Then server jump and start over. If you are a hoarder/pack rat it is a neat thing to do. But the wipe takes the value out of it. Anyway, that's my take on it.
Thats why in my org, I pay all my guys a 1mil wage
Net loss for me but I have like 500mil I do nothing with
How on earth did you get so much? That's like 2,000 Prospector runs
Trading lol
5000 titanium runs in a c2
That's alot of titanium
If every run was 20 min then that's over 1,600 hours just running titanium which is about 69 days (nice)
Presumably lots of runs during the nine tails lock downs we've had this patch for that sweet 1M profit per run
Before the last wipe after about 18mths, I had close to a Billion aUEC
I use to average over 1M aUEC per hour
I will say that having too much money is a serious demotivator. I think the wipe made the game fresh again
I'm just still trying to figure how that's possible haha 500-750k an hour is about the best I've done mining and less than that if cargo running- am I severely underestimating how profitable bounties are?
The game has changed a little over the years. I use to clear over 80K in cargo with a MAX on a short run
You use to make over 200k per trip and no refinery with the prospector
Also, today, I count profit per trip in a Prospector, so I try to average about 250ish K per trip
That's exactly why I don't play for money. I do the things I enjoy and whatever cash I make is a nice side benefit.
I prefer to set a minimum that I want in my wallet, and then after I get that I go play. That's usually about 30 million
Shoot, I never grind up that much in a patch cycle.
It's never a grind for me, it's always fun. I'm just very productive with my playtime
Well I used it arbitrarily. I never earn that much. Or, I never have that much on hand. I usually spend money as I get it, if I have a ship in mind I want to play around with.
Understand, My wiring is that if my wallet is below a certain amount then that is below zero for me in I would rather have my base amount to operate off of
This past patch because of so many challenges instead of 30 million I set it for 10 million and kept the money around that much. I like having extra so I can help new players and do scholarships and stuff
I gotcha. I think the most I ever had on hand this last patch cycle was enough to get a C2.
I don't really socialize in game, I've gotten to where I close chat the first thing when I log in. It's gotten weird over the last year. It's pretty much Barrens chat every time I see what's going on there.
really hope they sneak in a cargo availability change with 3.18
we will have all this new cool cargo stuff without any cargo to run
There is plenty of cargo to run. It just might not be the cargo you want to run. 😆
I think some of the shortages might see some relief, because I bet a lot of people stop running cargo once they realize their ship is now a piñata and they don't want to hire escorts.
3.18 will see Cargo runners be the focus for both Piracy and Salvage all wrapped up in 1 package
pretty much lol
Guys, i wanna buy another freight ship in pledge store, i got a connie andromeda and a mole, what should i choose?
c2?
c2 is not for sale now
If you like mining - then go with the mole. If you like everything else go with the Connie.
How do i make profit mining? i rented a prospector last night to try and mine and cant seem to get good money out of it. 5k per turn in and im being semi strict with what i grab
Real mining money is in quant. Can't get that in a rented prospector though as it needs to be modified. You can still make money though by going after Bexalite and refining it. There are many pics here showing the best non-quant things to mine.
I was told that I need an admin terminal to sell gems that I mined inside a cave, where can I find that?
pretty much every station has one somewhere inside
where'd you mine the gems? (or i guess where are you at?)
probably could sell them at one of the mining stations
“shubin interstellar mining station” or “arccorp area 141” or something similar to that
Hand mining is the true pain
gmain difference between the Andomada and TAURUS.
[8:00 PM]
i know both can do bounties and the Taurus has more cargo and one less turret and less missiles whats the scu diff?
Message #flight-combat-racing

guys, i try to mine a rock, but the charge level won't go up even at 100% output
should i wait or just leave?
@tame crown you may have too large of a rock to do it without using surges or having another laser to help you
kk thx
I can pop in if you need another
thx, i am in asia server so...
np
what consumable should i use if a rock is too big to mine?
I prefer Surge and Stampede. Its really down to preference but I find that works. Surge gets the charge level up, stampede speeds through it to break the rock.
I use these two as well, and throw in an Optimum just in case.
o7
I came back after months of not playing, and now my ROC is nowhere to be found. Cant retrieve it, claim it, find it... anything. I don't even know if I own one anymore... what the f happend?
Was this ROC purchased in-game or one you own in your hanger? @fathom berry
There have been some wipes in the past year and now there will be a new complete wipe coming in 3.18 whenever it goes LIVE
BTW ... welcome back, you've come just at the crux of a massive change in the game. Expect a bumpy ride
i got it ingame. someone giftet me the money to buy it and it's been my primary source of income since then
what am i supposed to do now?
Same thing everyone else does. Earn some cash in game, buy another ROC. Use it until the upcoming wipe. Then do it again.
They're extremely cheap in game, 172k.
Can also just rent one in the meantime. Stupid cheap at 4k per day to rent
How do I get the missions to deliver bow-adorned packages?
I sent a DM when you get a moment
I didn't know there were missions, but you can collect them and then sell them at the TDD for easy coin
Not those
Interesting, I've not been on LIVE for awhile because of testing another build. Let me know what you find out
thats the problem i cant find anything
nothing on Reddit?
no
Should I get the Caterpillar? Pirate to be specific. I'll be doing cargo runs in it but can it do anything else? Not specifically money making, just anything else.
In the market for a high capacity hauler ready for 3.18
The Pirate version is from AC and winning that ... you can't really buy it iirc
For hauling, if you love the CAT, then go with that. For me I got the Hercules C2 Starlifter, more storage
I completed pirate swarm and see it available to buy on the store
ah, FTW, awesome
Was just curious to if there are better and cheaper alternatives. Even at a loss of capacity
Cheaper as in real world dollars? Or in-game aUEC?
Irl
Though I just realised I'd have to wait until another sale
So nevermind, I think I've already made my decision
Looks cool, carries a ton of cargo. Checks all my boxes
and it's price is not too shabby along with future expansion
Just wish we'd get fully working lifts on the side of the modules
Pretty sure I've seen videos of it working. As a demo of course
But working nonetheless
Don't know what's holding it back
Is there a target date for the wipe? I see people talking about it but I haven't seen CIG say anything
I have seen the 3 gift box mission at Mt nbis. It's pretty basic. These sell for 1 k each. Hope this helps.
Never a "date" per se, it all depends on how testing with Evocati goes. From what I understand there is a massive improvement in the stability of the builds but there are still some pressing issues that could be considered stoppers. Wave 1 should be this week hopefully, if not even today.
Wave 1? Sorry I'm a little out of the loop haha
Assuming that's an initial release of the version
My apologies, The new builds are released in different "Waves" depending someone's level with Star Citizen. Wave 1 is for Concierge (those who have spent more than a $1000 on the game) and also Subscribers (those who have monthly subscriptions).
Wave 2 is for the high hour of playtime user
Wave 3 is open wave
Gotcha, what is considered high hours I wonder
Is Evocati closed testing?
Yes, Evo is NDA testing
Nice, thx
Once it goes to Open PTU, then it hits Open PTU, then it is coming to LIVE very soon
One trick to save having to download the game all over if you were testing it is to rename the folder to LIVE
Which folder exactly?
The Game Folder under Star Citizen
You will have a PTU folder and also a LIVE folder
Thank youu
Best way to catch a pirate off guard ----
Me [Hull C]: Okay, you win. I'll give you my cargo and be off.
Pirate: Excellent.
I mash eject cargo and fly off.
Me [Hull C]: Surprise mother-fudger.
Shoots all the cargo boxes rather than the pirate.
Me: Now neither of us gets the cargo.
Grief the griefers: Don't give them the satisfaction of soft death cargo pirating. Destroy your cargo yourself.
[ takes out Assault rifle in my soft death ship. shoots all the boxes. ]
Lyria is the easiest place to find quant since you just look for clusters of rocks--all clusters are quant.
Halo is pretty good too since you can scan the asteroids from up to 12km away
Assuming they scan in the belt
the mission is in the personal section
Ah! Thanks, I hardly ever look in that tab
same
Hello, I have always done bounties to get my money for like 2 years now playing the game and I want to kinda relax and do cargo. Any runs people could suggest to do after 3.18 comes out?
3.18 is going to be a whole new beast for running cargo, because cargo ships will finally be legitimate targets. The routes shouldn't change though.
What cargo ships? There is almost no one running cargo right now. I doubt that will change this patch.
The only thing I can guess is maybe getting a miners quant load when he runs back to the main city. That only happens like once or twice every week or so.
Uhh, sorry bud, don't mind me with my nearly 27mil in profits just from running cargo this patch, I guess people really aren't running cargo...
No, they really are not. Sure there are a few exceptions, myself included. I run it for fun, I trade in things that I don't make a profit in often just because I don't wan to risk it to a crash. What I am saying is the pads are almost always empty. I use to have wait for the good ones, but no one is ever there any more.
It is pretty much the worst and most high risk loop in the game.
I could make well over twice as much doing anything else, and others seem to be doing that. I do it though because well I just like to fly cargo ships.
Tons of people run cargo right now, it's easy money. It's mostly what I do and judging by how stocks are, plenty of people are still doing it. I still see the C2s and Caterpillars doing their thing, hitting the same places I go.
But in 3.18 cargo will be physicalized, pirates will finally have a reason to go after people. Blow up the ship, bust the piñata, loot the cargo. And since cargo "routes" are static, everyone buys and sells at the same places, they're going to be camping those places, hard.
Ages ago it was. Cargo running has been pretty dang safe for a long time now.
It won't be any more, that's for sure. Gonna have to start considering hiring some escorts when moving my more valuable goods around
Yep, exactly. Cargo running is going to have a massive drop off in 3.18. People have been enjoying the easy money for a long time now, but in the patch, they're going to actually have to coordinate with others. Man their turrets, hire escorts, pay everyone. Actually pay attention while they're going to and from. Most people who have been running cargo over the last year or two are going to move on to something else.
Only the players who want to be actual truckers are going to stick with it. Which is fine, that's how it should be.
The ole prospector mining is a funny gig, could find a nice rock fast or be looking for an hour 🤔
Anyone else just getting fucked in arrons halo?
I have found like 12 quant rocks that are unscannable
if they're unscannable, they're not quant rocks
in the halo you can tell what type they are or if they're unscannable from 12km out, so you don't need to get close to unscannables
Technically . and , but yes. It also doesn't directly affect the range, but rather the angle, and a narrower angle gives you more details from farther away
Also make sure you're scanning in mining mode, not scan mode
Then it just makes me more sad because I do agree with you on the 3.18 thing.
Do my hydration rate drop faster if i wear armor?
Yes, and heavier armor will make it drop faster
I think that’s the mistake I was making in the prospector, I had the mining laser out but I was scanning with the normal scanner, I’m using a YouTuber configuration with the elite controller along with an Xbox chatpad attached to the controller and I’ve no idea how to change from normal ship scan to mining scan and also how to change the scanner degrees from 360 to 2 .. do you know what the key binds are under in keybinds in settings so I can have a look around or Create my own I definitely need to be able to switch on mining scan and adjust the scan degree?
I don't think it's possible to be in both mining and scan mode, so if the mining head was out that should be correct.
I can't check the keybindings right now, but you can look at the mouse/keyboard bindings to see what you're looking for.
Scanner ping is tab
Angle changes are , and . (may show as < and >)
You're correct. You have different modes and mining and scanning are two different modes that require different UI
I hardly ever use scan function until I've acquired the rock I'm going to crack. Ping actually will drop a scan result once you get about 5k or so with a 2* focused ping
You know you can track down and then scan rocks from like, 10-15k away, right?
I only learnt about it like a month ago, but I'm so glad I did
Really helps track the quant rocks down much faster without having to do quite as much flying around
Yes, thanks, you can ID rocks at about 12k. I'm talking about determining the value of the rock before approach
I mean, if you can scan it, you should be able to see it's mass and percentages before you get there
You can gauge by the instability long before any other details show up
True, true
My process is to pivot scan targets of opportunity as I drift, uncoupled, one heading. Allows quick turns, no wasted time on duds and good profit margin
I’d imagine mining mode is better than normal scan so I’ll have to find the keybinds and fix the issue
Oh, if your planet side and you want to jsut drift in a stright line ike your in space, put yoru landing gear down 😄
I mine the Halo almost exclusively
Scanning mode is better for trackign down the items and seeing their rough composition, mining mode will give you a much more indepth detailing of a rocks contents
Same here, it was jsut a side note
I stay in mining mode the whole time @teal ridge
Keybind for ping angle changes is important for fast results
What ping do you use ? 180 and then 2 ?
I can see how to change the angle of scan I’m trying to figure out what keybind is to switch from normal to mining scan? With the prospector I deploy mining lazer and scan but I’m not sure if I need to use mining laser out and mining scan
I basically need a button to turn on mining scan and same button to turn it off
Would mining laser out not be in mining scan ?
Is this mining scan mode or just mining mode ? I’m able to adjust the scan angle 📐
The Prospector is automatically in scanning mode while in mining mode.
Ok so I only need to adjust scan angles
I usually just do 180 and then 2 degrees to see if I can get two diamonds shape rocks to appear unless I’m doing it wrong?
Landed on lyria and got a nice rock straight away almost filled the pros 30.000 quant I’m just learning the ropes but I’m enjoying it more than bounty Hunting
So you guys think they're passing out free MPUVs this Christmas so we'll all have em when the Hull C goes straight to flyable in 3.18?
nahh, doubt it. People might get a free PTV or STV, but i doubt it
I was referring to the referral bonus
No, mining mode and scan mode are two different things.
Which mining add on helps break rocks over 6+ mass?
Surge / Stampede is what I use.
Yes, but unfortunately you have to step to each setting. Often I'll drop down to 90 instead of 180 to limit targets. (sorry for late reply)
that's a whole never level, it will take some practice and blowing up. There are a number of videos on doing the Big Crack
If you're using the Lancet mining head, need two surge modules and a stampede (can go up to 7.5k, a bit harder to use) or optimum (can't go as high but easier to use).
Surge takes some practice to use effectively.
If you use a different mining head, there are some setups that make breaking big rocks easier, at the cost of making the small rocks (including the smaller chunks from big rocks) harder
But you can scan in mining mode. I know they're also separate modes.
Yes, you can scan in mining mode, but that's not what you said
For a Prospector looking for rocks, scan mode is useless, just use mining mode

Yeah I know this is becoming funny 😆 all I know is I deploy the prospector mining laser and I scan away while adjusting the degree but I find 90 is fine that’s all I know and do and I find quant and rocks 🪨 ez enough I got 7 full quant loads in a few hours
I’d be more annoyed at the fact that what I’m doing is for nothing with a wipe coming 😤
When we deploy the laser it’s in mining mode so scan away 🤔
It’s a funny subject but people do be confused about it at first, best to say press m and scan away
Yeah, that's why I said going into mining mode automatically puts you in scanning mode as well. Because the Prospector is special in that regard and has the modes linked when you go into mining mode.
Mining mode uses a different scanner. It's why you can ID quant from 12km out in mining mode & the same doesn't work in the regular scan mode. This all changes depending on the patch but they're not the same scan mode
It doesn't "put you in scanning mode as well."
Scanning mode and mining mode are two different things.
You can scan in mining mode, but that doesn't mean you're in scanning mode. The Prospector is not special in this regard. The ROC can do the same thing, as can the MOLE turrets.
The effect is the same. Stop trying to argue about it.
You don't even need to be in a mode at all in order to use the scanner ping. The only thing scan mode does is allow you to see details of a target when you're very close by holding down LMB, which doesn't happen in mining mode.
The effect is not the same. The Prospector doesn't have access to the functionality provided by scan mode when in mining mode, but that functionality is irrelevant to mining.
Stop spreading wrong information and I'll stop trying to argue about it.
This guy put gadgets all over the rock and cracked it much faster. Can we recover the gadget after it cracked open? or is it chance based?
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ts2Ift-yrpI
I haven't had luck with recovering gadgets, but some people claim they get them back every time
This mining mode thing 🤔🤣 laser out and we can see the details and scan and I make cash 💰
Man, how did I not know this? I tried this out this morning and it was amazing spotting a Quant rock from 9km away….
Absolutely game changing. Thx all.
Even though the wipe is coming, the skill set that you've learned will put you in the green real quick.
I call the Prospector the Goose that lays the golden eggs because you can fund and buy anything in the game with her
It revolutionizes and superchargers your earnings
Yeah I’ve leaned a lot over the last few days and know exactly how to use scan and when to use 2 degrees etc and I know how to calculate the mass and percentage to know how much quant ill most likely get from a rock 🪨 and most importantly I own the prospector and andromeda in store so I’m good to go after wipe
Prospector is my new favourite ship and it’s relaxing to go out and mine and getting full loads or nearly full loads all adds up, once give got 3 or 5 orders in and they take a day to process it’s working for you even when you’re off getting more loads or if you’re offline the game is still making you cash so I like the whole making an order at the refinery
My friend yesterday sold 900k worth in one trip so she’s a cash cow 🐮
I’ve a question 🙋♂️
If I’m at arc l1 and I have a ship or two that I can fill with quant, is it possible to fly a different ship to Area 18 land and they call in the two ships without technical flying them down and then possibly saving the cargo from 30k s. ?? Anyone ever try that ?
My idea is why fly the cargo to a location when you can fly a random ship and then just call it in 🤔🤔
What’s a good place to mine with a ROC?
i was finding a lot of hadanite on Aberdeen just a bit ago
I think that is the place atm.
Aberdeen or Ariel for Hadanite. You need a prem suit as it is very hot.
When you claim a ship, all the cargo and stowage are gone
Like Rigel said, there's no short cut. If you claim the ship, it's completely reset as to inventory. She's empty. Since you've spent the time mining, refining and getting your product ready, spending a little extra time making multiple trips is just part and parcel of mining gig.
Just came back after 2 month break what version we on now
Should I replace the andromeda for the Taurus seen as it has more cargo abilities and would be able to do bounties just as good as the andromeda solo
I know the andromeda can carry 9000 a go which I think is more than enough and I think people who see the andromeda might think I’m out doing bounties and I might avoid being attacked, if they see a Taurus they might know it’s carrying cargo or am I over thinking 🤔
I ❤️ Taurus
Same, taurus is great
Let’s say I wanted to start a semi decent mining operation with other players (me being very new to mining unfortunately) giving a budget of 4 million UEC what should I buy/invest in, how much should I give each player to start (100k 150, 200, 75k?) who would be interested in such an operation with me?
first time mining in the asteroid belt, what materials should I look for?
Is there a default key to scan a rocks contents from 11 or 10k out? I usually have to get within 2k to know if it’s quant or something
Contents won't show that far. You can tell it's a quant rock by it being a Q. should start showing around 5-6km while at a 2* scan though...
Can see q-type from 12km
my first time Quant mining was definitely an experience... https://youtu.be/wLhIC02Psds
Hey everyone, I am trying out a different style of Star Citizen video this week, a longer, less edited gameplay style video.
I met a new friend who wanted to show me the ropes when it comes to mining Quantanium and we get very, very lucky and found a mega-deposit of quant.
Things turned south at first when I died in my Mole because I didn't re...
Good job!
When I scan in the prospector with the mining laser out, and I point at the rock from a distance, I get scan results as type dolvine that’s what makes me think my scan isn’t correct or I’ll get quant etc but I don’t get laters like G
This is what I get so I’m convinced I’m not using a mining scan, I’m just in mining mode
What is the actual keybind to turn on mining scanner
A) To take a screenshot use the "print screen" key and then look in the star citizen screenshots folder instead of trying to use a camera to take a picture of your screen. I can't read anything there
B) There is no "mining scanner." If you're in mining mode, you're using the "mining scanner"
C) You're on a planet, so you can't scan from a distance anyway. That only works in space.
see above
Yeah I mine on lyria so that’s why I see the actual name of the rock
On lyria you just need to fly around pinging periodically and look for clusters of large rocks. All clusters on Lyria will be quantanium deposits.
You don't need to be in mining mode for that. You only need to be in mining mode to see the actual composition of the rocks once you get close
Ok I’ll try that thanks 🙏
It was a version of 3.17 when you paused, it's still 3.17 but now 3.17.4.
3.18 is in Evo being tested and may go to Wave 1 PTU next week
BTW, welcome back
Nah im not really back just curious to see if anything cool was added to come back to
Has anyone seen anything about how the RAFT will work with physicalised Cargo in 3.18?
Namely, popping things into the storage containers.
The raft doesn't have a cargo grid so for 3.18 it won't be affected at all. When the 32scu boxes finally become a thing for physicalised cargo then it will be affected
Just wondering about loading it with salvage materials
As part of a team....Vulture and hauler in tandem
Yeah its not going to work unfortunately. The raft will really come into the spotlight when thr hull c arrives because the 32scu boxes
I enjoy the raft. Its a nice little daily but thr lack of space for such things Is a lil sad
Aces..
If you can open the boxes up, then they will be able to house a few things right?
You could aways grab the rmc and stick it through the docking collar. I think you could fit a few boxes in the living area
If they could open yeah
Eh, if it's going to be a work around, I'll stick with my Lancer for now
They did something similar with the Mustang Alpha box right?
A cheeky little door....
Yeah but the raft crates are going ti be different. They can't even lower off the raft until its cranes are functional
It makes sense really...
To be able to house vehicles like other ships, though possible, isnt' going to be ideal.
Because you'll need a crane operator to lower the boxes, then unpack the box, and reverse the process..
Unless the roll on roll off of other ships
If I'm understanding the RAFT crates properly I mean
The raft is purpose build. It's the fastest thing to unload snd reload 96scu of cargo. The whole design was to drop those crates pick up more and just go bsck and forth so it's best to stay that way
Then probably wait until 3.18.1
It's design is close to that of a flying crane. Lift and drop
Yeah precisely. It's specialised so they won't likely generalise it more by allowing it to take vehicles around and just access things willy nilly
Anyone know if 3.18 is fixing the mole hopping around when solo mining?
I can get on board with that...
A tool for each job and all that...
I like that it's not just another interior shaped cargo hauler
I doubt it, but we haven't heard either way afaik
What is the best trading route for c2
For any ship its the same... Go to mining post.... Buy Laranite then Titanium... Go to city based trade district...
There are a number of trade routes. If just starting out, scrape from Area18 to ARC-L1 admin is a quick run
Average per titanium/laranite run will be 70-125k or abouts, depending on trade activity.
One can reasonably complete 3 runs per hour, doing the ariel/lorville route.
Wipe?
When 3.18 comes, later this month or in January
kk
We're already half December so I'd bet for mid January for 3.18.
They didn't even started public testing it
What mining module helps break rocks past 5.9 mass and up? I found a rock with 6.5 mass and 21 per cent quant and I couldn’t break it with a stampede? So what module is the best to break big rocks past 5.9 mass up
You need Surge (along with Stampede) in order to break the larger ones. When you use a Surge, the power level of the rock immediately jumps by 40%.
It takes practice, but the goal is to use the Surge charge so you jump straight into optimal without overshooting. You may want to have two Surge modules so you don't have to wait for the cooldown
How long does it take for a mining outpost to refill a mined resource?
Where do I get the surge module
Port Olizar (crusader) dumpers depot has them. Haul a ton to your mining area
Stampede and Surge as stated, but I also run an Optimum. Was very helpful while I was getting used to the Surge.
I have to say I am absolutely loving prospector mining, I didn’t realise at first how nice of a gameplay it is and how ez it is to make millions in a relaxing yet rewarding way, my favourite thing is the fact when you have a full load you go up to the station and place an order for a day or so to be ready so technically the game is working for you when you’re offline doing other things in life that’s something I think is very valuable that I’m making money while I’m offline working or asleep etc. so now the prospector is my most valuable ship to own period
Got a prospector yesterday, tried to get one quantinium rock in before logging, found a rock and tried to crack it, way overcharged it, started flying away for the impending boom, it went boom, and killed my power supply. Fun stuff, would recommend.
Well it’s great when you know what you’re doing, it’s not when a noob
I’m gonna try round two today
It’ll be great
For the record I thought it was hilarious I’m not salty at all
I love mining but is it me or it seems Quantanium clusters has become harder to find? You spend more time out there which increases a chance of getting 30k as it has happened to me before many times.... So frustrating. Mining needs some love from CIG. Even single or double Q rock spots have less volume IMO. In the meantime I'm focusing on other more lucrative ventures.
I was really hoping mining gadgets would be more fun / useful. Maybe others use them?
anyone know whats the good mods for the prospector? cant seem to find any good youtube tutorials on it
haven't mined in the astroid belt in a while, are rocks scanning properly now? is it lucrative like it use to be?
Some people use them since they do give you options more than just the three module slots, but to me they're not worth the trouble
That is what I found as well.
anyone know whats the good mods for the prospector? cant seem to find any good youtube tutorials on it
cuz i cant seem to find it out and the live calculator aint working really well for me as it doesent really make any sense
lol there are tons of good videos on YT.
General consensus (mostly) is Stampede and Surge. I personally run an Optimum in the 3rd slot.
If you mean mining modules, 2 surge and 1 stampede or optimum
If you mean the rest, you want a Spectre quantum drive if you're only going short distances (e.g., arc L1 to Lyria or cru L1 to the belt), or an Atlas drive if you want to travel long distances.
None of the other components need to be changed (other than mining laser obviously)
Really don't need to ask again only 10 minutes later when there's been almost no conversation in the channel
i dont really know how to play this game so it doesent make much sense....
trynna figure this shit out
Steep learning curve, that's for sure.
You'll still run into lots of unscannables, but it can be lucrative
so i only need the lancet MH1?
The thing is the youtube vids on mining are probably the best way to learn mining in this game. There are a lot of tricks that you need that they go over.
i bought the game two weeks ago didnt play for the past 6 days as i was busy and now trynna get back into it again and it is still a lot to take in...
trynna figure out how to make good money
etc
That is the only required change, yes
Only 2 weeks in and already owns a Prospector, you're making good progress
I watched some YT vids by Red Monster SC for mining, really helpful.
The thing is without watching the guides you will have a hard time finding rocks.
Any rock under about 5k mass, you can crack with only the Lancet. Anything bigger you'll need mods or help from another mining ship.
where do i buy better engines etc?
cuz i might need a better quantum drive? where do i buy them again?
!erkul
• Calculator • Shops • Ships • Weapons •
Or !itemfinder
Use the website to search for any item (and where to buy them) in-game.
in the calculator does it show where you can purchase them?
Select the item you want and the info box says where you can buy it
Or once you've made all the changes click "add non-stock items to cart" (if you're on desktop) and then your cart will show where to buy everything
ahhh cheers
It's right there at the bottom of the info area
cheers
got another question though is there a way to not explode? or is it just to be careful?
Don't let the power level go into the red
aight
where is the best places to mine for quant?
how do i even find and scan them??

Hi. Can the Free Max haul 2 ROC's??
The freelancer can indeed move 2 ROCs
If you squeeze them, you can fit 3
3.18 is soon, and with the physicalisation of cargo, can someone tell me how it works? If I want to fill up my C2, will I have to manually move nearly 700 boxes? If so, will cargo hauling pay more?
Pretty sure cargo will still magically appear in your ship during 3.18
Dude my first time in 4 attempts getting a load of quantinium to the station and I get a server disconnect
pissed
If it was a 30k you should get your stuff back--ship will be able to be retrieved at the station when you log back in. Don't claim it; it can take up to 15min for the 30k protection to kick in
Then, assuming you logged back in at a refinery station, just retrieve and then immediately re-store the ship, then head to the refinery deck
I figured my ship would have blew up but luckily it got stored and I now have my first ever load of quantinium refining!
Congrats! Yeah, for server disconnects/crashes ships (but not ground vehicles like the ROC) are usually safe
check the pinned messages in this channel, look for Cross's posts he has a lot of good info on here
What's the scan angle for roc mining? 180?
I think you press full stop and comma to change the scan . ,
thanks @teal ridge
@limpid vessel try the universal item finder here : https://finder.cstone.space/
Have any settings changed with prospector: i can only tab scan when I engage the mining head now, i used to be able scan directly...
@fallen burrow what refining method did you use ?
I never thought it would be possible to crack an 8600 mass/ 48% quant rock with the prospector...used 2 well timed surges and a stampede at the end and got it ! Sorry, had to share that !
2 prospectors, or 1 prospector with 2 surges has enough power to currently break any rock in the game :).
Long live Prospector !
The not Ferron one
best yeld with no loss you get by using the dyinix solventation one but it also takes longer....@fallen burrow
Yeah I did dyinix, 6 hours and I was about to sleep so that was perfect
you can just go and mine more and more, there's no limit on the amount of jobs the refinery can take, they'll all be there until ….wipe
Yeah I’m just trying to get a handle on mining so I can hit the ground running when 3.18 drops
I’m still real new
Also what does a stampede module do, I see people saying lancet with double surge and a stampede
when you're in the green zone of your laser power, activating stampede shorten to half and intensify the laser at that power so you'll finish cracking the rock in very short time.
its good when you know the rock is too big and you can only hold the green for a short time
Contrary to some claims, the Stampede mining module does not result in the charge level of the rock dropping. It only does exactly what the description and stats say it does: allow the "optimal" charge window to fill faster.
the pulsating laser is the stampede filling the green bar faster
After a wipe do you typically go straight to mining to make a good stack of cash? Do you ROC or Prospector
The moment you get a prospector you may not look back at ROC. A prospector can get you up to 300 k or more in one happy trip mining ROC is a lot less than that, cant even remembr how much for hadanite
Thank you!
@fresh flamepersonally I go mining and when I have 4 or 5 refinery jobs lined up I go to some bunker missions or other missions maybe trucking. I want to try salvage next...
I got so burnt out on trying to find quant. Constant scanning for double rocks and when I’d find them the percentage was low a lot
yeah that always takes a lotta patience...I just go in the Aaron belt and try the space if no luck on surface, youre safer in the big space too
Does space tend to be more consistent? I know people like the surface because you can get some real big rocks
For some odd reason you can crack larger rocks in space over those on the surface of a planet. All the asteroids are below 5.2k anyway in the Halo
In that way, space is more consistent for now until the next tier
i just bought a prospecotr and i need to attach modules and such but it wont work. Pls heli dont know what im doing.
I need help lol
How’s gem mining? Can a prospector harvest gems or just the ROC?
Google “Prospector loadout” and get those items.
Hello. It can be done but the gems explode real easy and disappear. Then you have to land and round up any up that survive by hand. Try it on Lyria where there's a lot of flatter terrain but don't expect much success. I tried 3 Aphorite last night and wasted each one lol.
Thanks! So, ROC is best way to mine gems it seems.
any good cargo routes atm for the c2
Can anybody give me some beginer tips for using a prospector and actually making profits
i have a lancet head and modules purchased
if ur on lyria scan for bundles of 2 or more
if u find 2 or more its guaranteed quant
look for rocks that have over 20% and decent mass
anything 5.5kish and under you can mine without modules
anything over u can use ur modules
Report if you are able to repeat it (to get a sense of how much luck and how much skill such a feat requires) 🤓
i got to a rock and it wont scan what do i do
managed to do it a few times now (4 -5 times) but with smaller mass rocks 6 -7000 mass but I did loose my engines in one explosion doing that. you have to gage the time between surges really well depending on the rock resistance. I wouldn't leave such a rock without trying..
HDMS Bezdeck/Lathan. Grab as much Laranite as you can. Fill the rest of your hold with Titanium. Go sell at Lorvile. It's between 100k-130k profit
is this what i need to go mining?
cuz it doesent work for me apparently when trying to mine
is it something i am missing or?
Hey everyone. I'm trying to understand what location is best for quant mining. I've watched/read tons of guides and see conflicting info. Most guides indicate Lyria as top location, with some asteroid fields following closely behind.
On the other hand, sc-trade.tools website places moons of microTech on top. Who's telling the truth?)
The BIG problem with the MT moons they have very windy conditions making it difficult to even do a cargo run. For ROC mining it's great if you like seeing your ship get blown away. So go try but expect to get your ass kicked.
im having trouble breaking this 5500 mass rock with my prospector anything i can do ?
What mining head have you got on?
There is a trick.... You need to barrel roll, do spirals... Moving around will hit sweet spots which bump the bar.
Or use a surge module.
Or stampede... One of the 2
i split the rock in the optimal zone but the pieces flew everywhere one flew 30m km away idk how
i lost atleast 5000 quant
Had you gone into the overcharge at all while cracking it?
i did overcharge it a bit but it was in the optimal at the time of cracking
Did the overcharge section of the meter have any "fill" left when you cracked it?
i dont know but im pretty sure it was a bug cus 30m km is just ridicolous
I highly doubt the rock flew 30 million km
I wouldn't doubt it, you have the ramp that shows up over 30M Km, so it's plausible
I know when ROC mining, the gem icon shows up near the sun after extracting, but I've never seen something like that when Prospector mining
Anyone know when we’re getting the wipe?
When 3.18 drops
Yep
still in EVO PTU so who knows. maybe before Christmas...maybe next year
is it bad i kinda am hoping it doesn’t come by holiday break? i am not looking forwards to the massive surge of piracy with the update
anyone looking for another prospector to add to their crew?
ship mining>roc mining change my mind
no, because its a valid opinion
any mining crew looking to add another prospector in their team?
FYI
Star Citizen Alpha 3.18 has been released to Wave 1 PTU Testers! Important note: we are limiting the number of connections and granting access gradually to avoid initial overload, and to isolate expected issues. For this reason, you may find difficulties connecting - hang in there, and thank you for your patience.
FYI - Speaking of pirates and our activities mining OR trading in a 3 speaker Mongrel Squad recent stream the Mongrel speaker said they are going to kill every person/ship they run across. So, in general I think the first few weeks will be hell for us. But over my last 3 gaming sessions have not seen one red ship. (9 hours) The interview with Salt E Mike, Jack Axton and another trader was real informative. Sponsored by Mongrel Squad.
Jack was on a video about this? Got a title I can look up?
hey guys, where is a good place to buy/sell slam? i've been going to private property but it never has enough stock to fill up the max
How much scu space does the Corsair have ?
Was thinking of upgrading the andromeda to the Corsair but I’m not sure if that’s a good or terrible idea 💡
There is no good place to sell slam, it’s a drug that isn’t worth trading
You sell it at hur-l5 if I remember correctly, but the time it takes to sell even 10SCU of the stuff is ridiculous
You can also try reclamation and disposal orinth on hurston as I think they also buy it, but I have no idea how much at a time they’ll buy
what drugs are better?
cool
which ones have the best yield, other than etam?
do you know where one can find an updated list?
Slam, widow, and mace are the top three
Mace you can’t even buy, and widow and slam sell for minuscule amounts at a time, so they’re not worth trading
Etam and neon are the two lowest payout drugs, but can be reliably bought and sold at the right places (assuming not many other people are drug trading at the same time)
Corsair is 72 SCU. I would suggest waiting a patch or two and then look at buying it in game. It is a fun ship and a freaking monster if you get in front of those guns, but it still needs a little polish here and there. If you love Drake, then go for it
I like my Corsair but it isn't my daily
Just curious, what is your daily driver?
I have a number of them that I keep on the ready. I love the 325a but if I need a quick spawn I pull an Aurora or Pisces
or now the Cutter
Seeing that I spend my time doing industry like mining (mostly), Salvage (if I don't get jumped too much) or Trade (putting that on pause until we see how the marauders react), My Prospector almost qualifies as my daily, LOL
My vulture is gonna be my daily come 3.18 dropping
325a was my daily driver, but bed logging seemed bugged for me. Every few times, I woke up lodged between the hull.
Bedlog has been worked on, so with the new system it seems to be polished a little more
Vulture is a fun ship
Have you ever bedlogged in a taurus? The two times I’ve done it, I woke up in the cargo bay wearing a different set of armor than when I logged out
This bugged for me recently. I switched to 400i, and nothing bad happened so far. One time it took me to primary residence, but no weird lodged between hull thing in 400i so far
This new patch is going to be way different in a surprising number of ways. But bedlog has been a focus
I enjoy the 400i a lot also, but it's my LTI token for my Hull C, LOL
Did you get any good CCU chain discount on 400i, I am trying to build one up from my 325a in next year's Invicatas
I got the 400i WB when first concepted, so it came with a good discount
I normally buy the WB CCU offering each time (usually about $5 or so). That way you have a path that often will result in pretty good savings regardless of the ship you're going for
Yeah, I did not know about this $5 thing. I learned it way late into this past IAE.
Otherwise, I would have gotten that $5 to 600i from Prowler
